I hate the tutorials that basically put you into a cutscene. Like you don’t need this whole cutscene just have a pop up that tells me what buttons to press. I’ll still not use the ability you’re telling me about 90% of the time.

Your art is so pretty!!!!!!! How do you pick colors and color!!!! All your works are so vibrant yet cohesive hhhh so nice to look at <33
thank you!! I made a little guide :> it's mostly about hair color picks but this is how I choose my colors in general!
Tumblr media
i tend to stick to a similar value with all my colors! the only colors that get a higher saturation tend to be the highlights
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and a way to make your colors pop is contrasting your warm and cool tones :> with yaoyao, I have a warm-tone base with a cool-tone shadow and kazuha's is a little more messy, but the bright teal pops in contrast with the red and warm tones.
this chart is helpful too if you're stuck on what kind of color scheme you'd like to go with!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I tend not to use pure white/black in my base color or lineart either my whites will either be warm/cool grays depending on the character! and I tend to have cool blue/purple blacks color has so much personality so I love adding lots of it :>
I'm physically incapable of base coloring as a solid color to save my life... it takes a while and most of it is intuitive at this point so it's a bit difficult to explain for bigger pieces, but I hope this helps!!

I wish I could wrap my brain around how to use 3D sculpting programs or I could make more parts from scratch myself, but I really just don't understand how to use them no matter how many tutorials I watch.

i think one of the funniest things i can do is say shit like "a bass guitar only has four strings, how hard can it be?" to justify not looking up a single tutorial ever and when someone counters this with a classic "a violin also has only four strings and is hard as fuck" i can go "right you are, but i do already know how to play a violin and that's about as complicated as it gets, so how hard can it be?"

Also btw I know I go hurdur this game isn't hard because I've played it since I was 8 years old and have Never had any singular problems with it and I've lived through EVERYTHING pre-quality of life. But you know what this game Has gotten over the years? More confusing. SSO isn't hard. It's just poorly structured. That's where it comes back to. This game has some of the most hodgepodge fucking structure ever that even Calling it structure is. Kinda wrong.

I've gained a whole new level of respect and appreciation for digital artists of all sorts recently. I mean, artists of any kind are amazing in general, of course. But I've got a new graphics tablet (nothing fancy - just wanted to start learning) and I've been trying it out, and it honestly feels like I'm trying to draw with my foot. I feel like a toddler - no motor control with this thing at all. I didn't expect this to be easy and I didn't expect to create ✨art✨ any time soon, but the moment I try anything, I feel like my hand isn't properly part of my body any more. Like, draw a circle challenge impossible.

I played through about an hour of OMORI today, and I'm sorry but I just really didn't like it lol.
The combat is easily the weakest part; it simplifies too many elements of turn-based RPG battles and becomes boring. There's a reason why RPGs have things like individual, personalized stats for each character, and status ailments. The story is somehow both very metaphorical, and incredibly hamfisted. The art is fine, but I don't think it's anything special. The pixel art reminds me of something I'd see on Instagram or a Tumblr aesthetic blog, and it clashes with the pencil and paper drawings, making them feel low resolution and blurry.
I know this game means a lot to a lot of people, but I don't see the appeal. Does the combat ever evolve? Does the story focus, and find a clear message besides "depression is bad?" Because if not I'm like three clicks away from getting a refund and replaying Undertale.
