out of pure curiosity, I was wondering if you were able to read the Hamefura manga anthologies? (Mainly, I'm curious if you got to the Keith/Geordo kabedon situation...)

Our Secret Night Alone Together

This was such a cute story! I'm always down for anything that involves Katarina and Keith, so this one was perfect for me. I really liked how their dynamic was presented, and also his conflicting feelings (as well as Keith having to deal with such obliviousness).

Not gonna lie, I was expecting for Madre™ to come back home at the end and complain about some mess (maybe throw a chancla or two), but I still think it was really sweet!

The Duet I Play With You

WE 👏 NEED 👏 MORE 👏 ALAN 👏 CONTENT! Can't deal with how negligent the story tends to be when it comes to Alan. He's one of the best characters (in my opinion) and yet he gets little to no content! So I was really happy to see a story solely revolving around him and Kat. With a bit of Mary on the side, of course!

Memory of Friendship

This one was hilarious! I totally see Mary scheaming such a sneaky plan to get some alone time with Kat. And the way everyone decided to ruin it (to no avail, but stil)!

To be honest, I wasn't expecting a Raphael-centric story. It was really nice, though!

Again, he's one of those characters that I haven't seen much canonical content about, and I guess this is the closest to it I'll get for now (still can't get used to the LN).

I'm quite fond of his character. He's rather... different from the rest. I mean, none of the others had yet the chance to become workaholics, so this side of him feels like a breath of fresh air.

Enjoyment is Something We Share

I think this one might be one of my favorites! Especially since it reminded me of my best friend and I. We both like reading and watchign anime (besides her being a total sweetheart), so I can easily reflect us on them.

I loved this part in particular where Sophia says "I want even more people to know about this piece of writing I came to love" because, while it's not the same reason why she said it, that's exactly why I decided to get into translation. So!

Sora's Day Off

Sora's... risqué persona is, to me, what Raphael's workaholic-esque self; a breath of fresh air. The idea of his sole presence upping the series' rating is truly amusing.

What I also like about him is that his sensuality doesn't cover his entire personality. Yeah, he might be less naïve than the rest of the cast, but that only means there're just less things for him to learn.

And again, he has yet to deal with Katarina so...

Did I already tell you I have a weakness for these two?

My Goddess

This one I felt is was more chill than the others, don't ask me why. Might be because it's Maria-centric and she always brings me peace.

Anyways, it's always nice to read a good ol' sickfic. Even better if it comes in comic version! And even better if it involves MariKata! This is one of the (if not the most) fluffiest stories until now.

And I know I should include something involving them, but there's one thing at the end that made my day.

The Fateful Dance Party

Just when I thought we wouldn't be getting any Nicol content—and even better, is masquerade ball themed! It fits him so well!

The entire sequence with both of them dancing, and the scene where they reveal their identities—it all feels so smooth, so delicate, so precious. Which it might be because Nicol's my personal favorite, but I'd like to think his character was so well portrayed.

This is the content that we all need and deserve!

Geordo's Feelings

God, this one made me so weak. Not only because of the things that happened in it (which had their effect on me since, you know, now I think more highly about Geordo and all that), but because of the ending. That fricking ending.

The way he couldn't even get ten seconds alone to make her such an important gift! But again, that's part of the charm of this harem-turned-into-found-family.

I'm begging anyone who thinks Nicol Ascart is a boring character to PLEASE play/watch his route in Pirates of the Disturbance... it gives so much more depth to both him and his relationship with Catarina. I know it's technically an alternate timeline but it fleshes him out in ways that the novel/anime/manga just doesn't go into

Serving for the Ascart family isn't really bad, they are really caring people and stay pretty respectful, but is a little difficult to get closer to them (specially for your work)

Sophia, the youngest daughter of the family, is already difficult to approach because she is pretty shy but since people tend to treat her badly for her appearance, saying that she is cursed, that lead her to insolate herself making it more difficult, and Nicol, the oldest son of the family, is difficult to approach since he is pretty serious and don't talk too much, even more when her sister insolate because he is just too worried for her

Although, as difficult as it may be, it isn't impossible and the more time you spend working in the house the more easier it become get closer to them. Since Sophia used to insolate herself and just read is probably that they parents put you in charge of bring her food and make sure she still take care of herself and don't just read the books so that open an oportunity for you to start a relasionship with her

Even when you start to get more contact with her it will be a slow process, little by little you have to show interest and true care for her (also don't say anything about her appearance or just a little compliment otherwise she will be really nervous), slowly winning Sophia's trust and don't overwhelm her (if you do it Nicol will be really mad at you), asking her if she needs anything more, offering treats and even showing interest in her book, just little comments here and there that shows truly care and interest

Sophia doesn't just have past bad experiences with people but is pretty shy so it would take her a while to comfortably answer you and at first she just respond to be polite, but after a while of encouraging her to speak with you but without forcing her at the end will start to pay off and Sophia will start to talk a little more with you, she even start to let aside her book whenever you came to check her

At first she just do a small talk, being too shy and nervous to initiate a conversation, but if you ask her of her book she will finally start talking about it with you, slowly winning confidence and excitment. Still it will take her a long time to decide to go out of her room so she just patiently waits until you come to check on her

Slowly Sophia start to enjoy more and more your company, excitedly waiting for you to come to talk, although she knows that you two can't spend a lot of time in her room since you have other responsabilities, so the more closer you two get the more determinante she becomes of getting out of her room, so at some point she just fill herself with courage and go out of her room to search you, and from that day she go out more often as long as she can be by your side

In the other hand, Nicol never really cared too much to you if he doesn't have to, he just doesn't see why he should, is nothing personal though is just the way he is, so with him it would be really difficult to get closer, but once he notice that Sophia start to like you so much he start to think on trying to get close to you himself (specially when she goes out of her room just to spend time with you)

Still being a little unsure of what to do he may just watch you go by doing your chores and ask her sister a little about you, at the end thanks to Sophia (for what she said and she motivating him to approach you) Nicol will start to get closer to you too, starting with trying to talk a little more to you to end up following Sophia when she follows you to hang out

Even when their parents, Dan and Radea Ascart, care for you at first they find a little strange the relasionship that is growing between you and their kids (or it could be strange to others for your position) they can't deny that they are grateful for what you have done for them, you not just helped Sophia to get out of her room and the books but also had winned their trust and raise their confidence, Sophia is really cheerful thanks to you and Nicol talks more when you are around, all you had done is something they will be forever grateful for

You become a really good part of their family, they even treat you as such (at least inside the house), especially Sophia and Nicol, they always go to you to tell you whatever they are into (like when they met Katarina). You meet directly Katarina when she first go to visit Sophia and it doesn't take her too much time to take a liking to you too, and after a while you will end up meeting the rest of their friends

Even when both grow up they never stoped talking to you with all that excitment, both always go to you to hang out and talk about how things had been going (with them and with you), talking about their friends and still about all the books Sophia is reading, even when they go to the school they regulary send you letters to tell you about everything it happen in school (their parents may or may not are jealous about the relasionship you have with their children)

Also Sophia end up getting you involved in her plans to set up Nicol and Katarina together and she is always asking for your opinion and advice about it (even when he express that you two don't need to do such things)

Ok I take back what I said. The story is picking back up. I forgot the developments in volume 11, and volume 12 is only building on that. I’m seeing character development!!! Katarina is growing. Keith, Jeord, and Maria still seem to be getting the bulk of the characterization, but I’m still ok with that.

I’m seeing some development for Sora, Mary, Raphael. Mary’s cunning and blatant gay feelings, Raphael’s kindness, knowledge, and teaching ability. And I have just become super fond of Sora too. His backstory and the role he plays in the story. Dewey is cool too.

And then!!! The background characters. The ministry people. Katarina’s family. The royal family. They’re getting so fleshed out.

And now it looks like things are actually moving. Like we might get to see why Katarina is here, who is behind a lot of the tragedies.

Also the focus on Katarina’s grief about having died in the previous world, and not being able to say goodbye to her friend and family. Her real fear of being separated from her loved ones in this world. Sophia is so cute, but I want her to play a bigger role given that she is some kind of reincarnation of that friend.

Anyway, loving volume 12. We’re back.
