"Want a drink," Lucas called; half of his body was currently positioned inside of the fridge, the choice between orange and grape soda taking longer than anticipated. Grabbing cans of both, Lucas finally closed the refrigerator door and plodded towards the living room. He set the cans down and settled onto the couch. "Couldn't choose" he explained. With one hand he gestured towards the cans, signaling Romeo to choose the one he wanted. Lucas would take whichever was left, which was, in his opinion, the easiest way to make a decision. "Okay," he continued when they were finally settled, "would you rather always be an hour early or an hour late? Discuss."

isabella practically bursts through their shared apartment’s door and throws her purse onto the floor, groaning as she removes her shoes at the entryway. her eyes don’t even need to find indigo before she starts complaining. “got told today at work that i need to smile more. that this resting bitch face will spook costumers away.” she’s aware of her bad case of permanent-scowling, but it’s not as if she wants to hear it from someone. she rolls her eyes. “i gotta start banning people who say shit like that to me.”

Despite repeated assurances from Norah that walking her home after she's finished a late shift isn't necessary, the notion of not showing up has never felt like an option to Atty. He'd claim it's exclusively about safety, that having to navigate the way back to their house alone at the often ungodly hours she works could pose a number of risks, but that's only a piece of the story. The truth is that it's also become a cherished part of his routine -- getting to hear how her day has gone, sharing details about his own, ambling home together beneath muted streetlights and star-scattered skies while the rest of the town sleeps. He lives for it, the comfort of repetition and the company of someone who knows him better than he knows himself.

There's a chill in the air as he waits outside Glowing Embers tonight, accompanied by a gentle pattering of rain. Instinctively shrugging off his jacket when he sees Norah approaching, he offers it to her as a balm against the weather with a tired smile. "Norah! Hi! How's your night been?"

"I'm sure someone in town offers classes if it's a thing you're interested in pursuing." And if they didn't, perhaps it was something that he could look into offering. Maybe with Mariana. He'd have to talk to her about it whenever he saw her next. "You're right. It's not really about how quickly you finish. Have you tried audiobooks?" Oscar, himself, didn't really listen to audiobooks, or podcasts for that matter, but he'd heard from some of his younger colleagues that they were quite the experience. "Might help you out."

"To be fair, I haven't really taken a crack at it, but...I don't think it'd be my thing." Angelo admits, shrugging his shoulders. What did he enjoy doing? That was certainly a question he wasn't sure he had answers to. "I like to read. I'm kinda slow, but." Shrugging, he picks at the remainder of his crookie, clearing his throat. 'I suppose it's not a race, as long as you're enjoying it."

Akiak couldn't remember the last time he stopped and looked at the stars. Life had gotten so hazy one day and never really stopped after that. It wasn't until he moved to Hemlock recently that he was learned how to slow down a bit in life and pick up hobbies he used to enjoy doing before. When he saw that there was going to be a meteor shower viewing at the park Aki told himself that he would not miss it, and he kept that promise. What he failed to think of was to invite someone, but it was too late now. He had found a spot to sit down and wait for the shower to begin. His attention would go from the screen of his phone to sky just to make sure he didn't get too caught up in his (stupidly) addicting YouTube reels.

It's only when his phone alerts him that it's on 20% did he decide to put it away for a moment. He casually looks around the different groups of people who had gathered to watch the meteor shower, letting out a small sigh. Then, in the distance, Aki spots someone that he never thought he'd see again, Angelo. He doesn't even think twice before he gets up and makes his way over in the direction of the other. It had been years since the two had last seen each other, Aki was much younger back in those days, and he didn't even know if Angelo was going to recognize him. "Angelo?" He asks, slowly approaching him. "It's okay if you don't remember me. It's...definitely been a while."

(romeo and wc met in high school and were together for a few years (depending on how old they were then they got together). at 21, romeo found out he had cancer and  shortly after he started treatment, their health started to decline and wc broke up with him, stating that he couldn’t watch the man he loved die. this very much had an effect on romeo as he thought that he was the one and that they'd be together forever. wc likely wouldn't know that romeo made it, I imagine they left town shortly after ending things (for work, school, just wanting a fresh start, etc and have recently returned (reason utp). what wc has been up to in the last 10-11 years can be utp. I'm a sucker for angst and feels so bring it on!)

Caroline smiled apologetically as she reached Ulysses' table at the restaurant of their choosing for the evening. She had got held up at the art gallery and so, she suggested meeting him there instead of having him pick her up. "I'm so sorry for making you wait, Ulysses." The last couple of dates they had gone to had been really good, and Carol didn't want to be the reason to end that streak. She greeted him with a soft kiss on his cheek, her hand cupping his other cheek, and then, Carol took the seat across from his. "I hope you'll let me make it up to you with a nice bottle of wine."

"-wait, hold that thought. our order is ready. i'll go get it." once their number was called, she wasted no time getting up and heading toward the counter to grab the sandwiches the two of them had ordered. she came back and place the other's in front of him before sitting back down, "now what were you saying? you have to catch me up. it's been a while since we've been able to do this." she added before popping one of her fries into her mouth.

(wc was born when ulysses was 16. he gained sole custody of them after a few years, and the two moved to hemlock springs. essentially i see them as having a very close relationship. ulysses has been mayor of hemlock springs for some time and considers hemlock springs to be their home, but wc doesn't have to have stuck around. we can definitely plot/discuss more solid details! also i would love to see uly as a grandparent but that's not a requirement!)

“and i know it but thank you for finally acknowledging my beauty.” he shakes his hair away from his eyes and winks at the other. “alcohol is a powerful thing, my friend, people get wealthy from making and selling it. the sad reality of the world we’re living in.” adrien casually says but doesn’t care enough about their thought to really dig into that. wouldn’t want to depress them both by talking about how alcoholic their generation had become. “i’m not exactly sure but i do know that i’m still not ready to go home. do you wanna stick around and drink one with me once you clock out? i’ll walk you home.”

"sorry. you're very pretty too, adrien." indy flashes them a grin, shrugging at the question. "people love a deal, especially when it comes to booze. you should see us on thirsty thursdays." indy could hold their own against some of the more unruly patrons, though thankfully the crowd that hung out at lucky penny weren't too terrible. their regulars always tipped well, which they appreciated. "i always have time for you, my friend. what're you thinking? 'cause there's no way i'm ever getting on top of this bar."

(wc is/was best friends with alvaro’s ex-fiancée. everything was going well until she disappeared for a few months, only to return to let alvaro know that she was pregnant with twins. wc could have known all along, or perhaps they didn’t know and it caused a falling out between them. however, she left again after giving birth and alvaro is raising the twins on his own. i imagine they were also good friends with him and we can either go with that they’re still good friends or an awkward friendship route, i’m open to either idea! )
