He's subtly clingy. You know how cats just so happen to be in the same room as you all the time? He does that before you get together. Bumping into you at the store, showing up to Roxy's parties more often when he knows you'll be there, seeing you around on walks, etc. He doesn't realize that it's creepy.

He does it when you're official too, but it's less weird when he's popping up in your shared house. Showing up while watching a movie and silently sitting next to you, silently hovering around you all the time, especially when there are people over.

He grew up with no/little human touch, and wants to be hugged more than anything, but he's kinda a wuss and won't be direct in asking. He's just like that. You have to get at least a little used to it.

He loves small gifts!! Big things freak him out a little and make him feel like he's gotta one-up it, but little things that you take a glance at and go "hey, Dirk would probably love this"? He does. Every little rock is put up on a shelf, and he LOVES flowers. He didn't exactly see many as a kid. He dries all the ones you give him.

If Hal ever tries to talk to you, Dirk is 110% assuming the worst no matter what Hal said, even if he was actually nice to you.

Speaking of Hal, for the love of god don't mention dirk's splinters or he will go into self-loathing mode for at least five hours.

Mentioning them during arguments is probably irreparable. And dear lord if you compare him to one of them (eg: "You're just like Bro!") he will literally never recover.

Ever since i saw the preview art for the HueyxLina fic i was really looking forward to it for a lot of reasons, i admire your dedication to oc x canon so so much and not a lot of people even dare to write Huey, much less in a romantic setting so this was a nice change in scenery. Although I'd suggest revising it a little further (for some spelling mistakes) i have a lot to say about the plot, i loved how we're initially pulled into Huey's ideal self in the 'illusion' setting. I thought it was going a bit too fast for the little time they had talking, but then it made sense, him daring to stand up for himself and trying to be more 'dominant' in this specifically crafted scenario to manipulate him. It's really in-character for him, that desire to have control over something (in this case Lina) no matter what, and him being granted that wish in that illusion, alongside with his neglected needs for love and attention... God, Huey, what have you gotten into! and don't get me started on the twist, it was incredibly creepy, of course, no story with Huey will ever end right, but the fact that he was essentially in love with a toddler... Puts another really cruel perspective into this, and I'm already getting some ideas on what this actually means for Lina (I don't buy that it was entirely Psycho Mantis fault, my theory is that Lina from the future had something to do with it somehow). Anyway, overall I liked it, dominant Huey isn't really my cup of tea but in here it was really fun to read since it gives another look at his psyche and his actual desires, looking forward to it in the future!!

I'm trying to get someone to help me about that. And I feel really glad that the plot can feel interesting and intriguing. The second part will take a little more time, because the ending will link to my other fic "The Emmerich Curse" (my main fanfiction that is about Hal).

So yeah, I personally like the fact that the ending is kind of ambiguous, because you could see that Huey could be a victim... Or you could take as a consequence of his karma.

Halamshiral had been a glorious disaster. It had been everything Mahalen Lavellan could have dreamed of in his dreary, lonely childhood in the woods of the Free Marches: the canapes, the silver flutes of champagne, the jewelry, the perfume, the decadence and despair of it all. And him, swirling through it, the center of attention, the person everyone wanted to talk to, or talk about.

So, really, Hal wasn’t at all sure why his hands were shaking as he stood on the balcony when it was all over. Corypheus was thwarted. The Orlesian Empire would live another day with its masks and lies - its thin, satiny veneer of elegance, barely enough makeup to cover up its savage face.

So, really, why was he shaking?

Hal inhaled and tipped his head back and breathed in the smell of the ornamental gardens below. The roses overpowered almost every other scent, including the blood that had been spilled that night, and the ichor of the dead demons. And then another scent overpowered even that - the subtle, lilac smell of Dominic Montagne’s lotion.

Hal breathed easily for the first time all night.

“Whatever is the belle of this ball doing out here all alone?” Dominic asked, leaning up against the balustrade, all casual ease.

Mahalen looked him over, pretending to take the measure of a stranger. Dominic wore a black mask with raised designs but no colors or symbols that would mark his heraldry, and his black clothes were similar. They were well tailored as always. Elegant, understated, and enough not to draw attention unless you had an eye for detail. That was the idea, after all. Dominic was not supposed to be here at all. Hal wondered what his Inner Circle would say once they realized that the man in black trailing them throughout the Winter Palace was in fact his husband. Husband. It was a word that still fizzed and bubbled in his mind like the champagne the empress had served like it was water.

“Trying to stay out of the way of dangerous strangers, of course. Don’t you know there has been an attempt on my life this very evening?” Hal said, putting one hand on his chest in mock offense. It was his left hand, in fact. The one that shone with the symbol of their marriage.

Dominic’s eyes flickered to it, but he did not drop his casual, flirtatious posture. That only made Hal’s heart beat faster. To still be desired, chased after, even though Dominic already had his prize - Hal could not have asked for more.

As he spoke the words, Dominic took Hal’s hand and bent low over it. His lips hovered above his hand, and then he turned Hal’s hand over, and pressed a long, slow, sensual kiss to the wrist. Finding your new home was exciting and exhilarating, even if some of your loved ones worried at the thought of you being alone.

So when you moved into the small neighborhood, you weren’t intending to find your mates.

And you certainly didn’t expect your place to be right between their homes. 

Hal, the kind carpenter, introduced himself to you first when he offered to help move your things inside.

They didn’t laugh as you raised your chin. If anything, they looked impressed.

“I almost pity the alpha who crosses you,” Hal said with a small smirk.

“Almost,” Bucky added with the briefest of smiles.

You bit your lip to bite back your whimper. The point of living alone was to be independent, not to be a simpering mess.

“If they mess with me, they don’t deserve your pity.”

You nearly preened when Hal’s bright laugh and Bucky’s low chuckle hit your ears, following you inside. You wanted to hear it again and again.

They were in sync as they worked together, at ease instead of fighting for dominance. That took a level of deep trust and respect. 

But the longer they stayed, the more their scents lingered. Except for one room.

“No!” you shouted before either could get into the room at the end of the hall. When they set the boxes by the door, heat flooded your cheeks. “It’s just…”

“You don’t want our scents in your bedroom?” Hal guessed, no judgement in his voice as you nodded.

“We understand, doll,” Bucky told you, but hurt flashed in his eyes as he went past you.

You almost reached out to stop him, not wanting to see that look in his eyes ever again. “I’m sorry,” you whispered as Hal began to walk away, too. 

“Hey, none of that. Your home. Your rules. I wouldn’t let strange alphas in my bedroom either,” he assured you, grinning when you smiled softly.

“Thanks,” you said, feeling a little better as he winked and caught up to his friend.

You sighed as you leaned against the wall, your thighs firmly pressed together. You were not going to let your body dictate your actions, no matter how perfect they seemed.

You didn't know them… but you wanted to.

A new image of Boeing shows that the cockpit of the B-52 will have a cleaner and simplified appearance after the bomber completes a program of some of the most substantial changes in its 60-year history.

The image is still considered fictitious, but it will probably be close to the final version of what the BUFF "front office" will be like, from the middle of this decade.

The digital image, released by Boeing to Air & Space Forces Magazine, shows a layout with many new "glass cockpit" color displays, but maintaining some of the "steam averagers" and analog style displays of the six decades of B-52H service.

Dominating the panel will be four large color multifunction displays that will present a variety of flight status information, as well as images of the new radar system of the B-52 - derived from the radar AN/APG-79 of the F/A-18 - as well as presentations of the new datalink B-52 and images of the Sniper or Litening optical/infrared direction

Monitors can also play a role in the use of the new hypersonic weapons of the B-52 - the bomber will be the initial platform for the AGM-183 Rapid Response Weapon, or ARRW - as well as its new nuclear weapon, the LRSO (Long-Range Stand-Off) missile.

The center console will also have an updated acceleration station, to control the eight new Rolls Royce F130 engines of the B-52, which will be digitally managed.

A statement from Boeing that accompanies the image said it shows "new 8 x 10 digital displays, mechanical-digital hybrid acceleration system, new (2x data hub units), new engine failure maintenance recorder, new engine air data system (and) modified system panels, as well as structural, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic updates associated with this modernization effort."

The U.S. Air Force chose to exchange the eight Pratt & Whitney TF-33 engines of the B-52 for eight new engines - instead of consolidating for four larger turbofans - for a variety of reasons, most of them having to do with the limited takeoff clearance of engines with larger diameters; the need for a more radical redesign of the engine/wing/pill interface and the Continuing with eight engines should also facilitate the transition of pilots from the B-52 to the updated aircraft.

USAF officials said they are thinking of renaming the B-52H to B-52I or B-52J after receiving new radars and engines, because the aircraft will be substantially different enough after the upgrades to ensure a new designator and maintain clearer records of maintenance and pilot hours.

Boeing is the integrator of the various updates being installed on the B-52 and will perform much of the internal reconfiguration of the control and wiring systems on the initial B-52 at its facilities in San Antonio, Texas. The subsequent work will be done at the B-52 warehouse at the Oklahoma Air Logistics Complex in Oklahoma City.

Damiano x fem reader

“Michetta, wake up. Wake up. C’mon, y/n you need to get up.” Damiano was shaking your shoulders. You opened your eyes only for your retinas to be assaulted by artificial light. Squinting, you glanced out of the window.

“It's still night time,” you croaked. “Why the fuck am I awake?”

“Do you need anything you don’t already have at my apartment?” You try to make sense of the situation, to form a cognizant thought.

“Um, no? I don’t think so.”

“Medications? Comforting things?” Damiano’s energy is manic, he’s wide awake.

“I like the fuzzy blanket in my closet.” He gets up and throws open the doors. “Top shelf,” you yawn. “Unless you give me a really good reason for being conscious right now, I’m going back to sleep.” You turn over and throw the blanket over your head to block the light out. Immediately he’s at your side, pulling the blanket back. “What the fuck!”

“I’m sorry cara mia. I know you’re really tired and your body needs rest right now, but we have to go to my apartment. You can sleep there.” He looks genuinely apologetic. His voice is anxious, and his pupils are completely blown out.

“What's wrong with your eyes?” you yawn.

“Rut.” Now you’re waking up. As soon as you start to sit up, Damiano puts one hand on the small of your back and the other under your knees, helping you become upright. He crouches at your feet putting your shoes on.

“Why are you going into rut?” And what the fuck is happening right now?

“Because you’re going into heat. One triggers the other. You can’t smell yourself?” He looks incredulous and you raise your arm to get a whiff. Nothing. Damiano scoffs at your confusion. “Well every other alpha in the fucking city can and I haven’t marked you so we need to go.”

“I just showered,” you whine.

“That's not what I meant, it's glandular.” Damiano has stopped moving around your room at super speed and has one of your duffel bags packed, as well as your purse in hand. “C’mon let's go.” Your jaw drops.

“What time is it?” You stand up and he immediately winces.

“You’re wearing my jacket.” He drops the bags and takes it off, moving behind you to pull your arms through.

“But you’ll be cold!”

“That doesn’t really matter right now, you need to smell like me in some way.” All of his movements are focused and utilitarian, but there's a high level of anxiety in the room. It's like he’s a spring wound too tight or a predator about to pounce. Even after putting on his coat he looks dissatisfied.

“Damiano, I really feel like you’re overreacting, baby. I don’t feel like I’m in heat and I’m not going anywhere in the middle of the night.”

“Either you’re walking or I’m carrying you, which is it going to be?” Normally you’d bite back with “neither,” but looking at his face you know he’s 100% serious. Now you’re angry. He’s treating you like a toddler having a tantrum when he’s the one being agro. You walk out the door without saying anything, taking your time to lock it behind you as a small act of defiance. You hear a dorm room door down the hall open and see another student that you know to be an alpha, staring at you. He takes two steps towards you and Damiano lets out a threatening growl from the back of his throat, wrapping his arms around you.

“My bad, didn’t know she was claimed,” he throws his hands up in defeat.

“You didn’t know she was claimed when I’m standing right fucking here? With intelligence like that, daddy must have bought your way into this university,” he says with so much menace that your jaw drops.

“Damiano!”

“Sorry, man. Didn’t know neutered bitches like you could have omegas.” It was an outdated, derogatory insult for alphas who were on hormone control. The older generation saw it as the most fundamentally non-alpha thing you could do, to deny their dominant nature. It was the ultimate iteration of toxic masculinity, and you’d opposed it your whole life. Damiano didn’t take the bait, instead guiding you down the hall.

You made it out of the building without incident, but could feel the eyes of the occasional alpha coming home from a night of partying on you as you walked to the car. In every slightly unhinged, hungry gaze you saw the possibility of attack and the fear shook you. Your friends had told you horror stories too, plenty of them. You were quivering like you’d drank too much coffee, stumbling in the dark towards the parking lot. Damiano stepped in front of you, halting your progress when all you wanted was to make it to safety. The entire journey you’d been as physically close as possible, tucked into his side. Now he crushed you in his embrace, noses nearly touching.

“Breath, y/n. No one needs to be convinced that you have an alpha except me. Do you understand? I won’t let any of them touch you.” The way he said it astounded you. This wasn’t just your Damiano, this was your alpha, and in his gaze you saw the capability to severely injure someone who threatened you.

“Why are they…'' you trailed off, meekly.

“I haven’t marked you, yet. They can’t smell me. When I do, you’ll feel better.” He speaks with such confidence it's all you can do to nod. “I’m so sorry you’re scared, cara mia. Heat heightens your emotions.” You knew that, you’d read all the symptoms, but recognising them in real time was a different thing entirely.

“So, so” you lip trembled “will I feel this way the whole time?” The prospect of fear prolonged for the three to seven days of your heat was overwhelming. “Because I can’t handle that, I -”

“No,” he answers, firmly. “If I’d had time to prepare you’d never feel fear at all, only pleasure.” He frees one hand to tuck hair behind your ears. “I want this experience to be beautiful and passionate and satisfying for you.” If you were surrounded by a thousand alphas, Damiano’s presence would be the only one you’d feel, or even perceive. The animalistic connection you’d heard about had established itself, and was only getting stronger as the hormone blockers left your systems. “Let's go home.”

On the drive to his apartment Damiano gets progressively more tense. He’s trying to hide his labored breathing, eyes burning potholes in the road in front of him, jaw clenched. You watch his hand as he impatiently drums his fingers on the steering wheel. It's a quick tap, tap, tap, tap every time. Watching his fingertips hitting the steering wheel makes you think of his fingers tracing your skin after sex. You watched the speedometer climbs from 70 to 75. “I want to pull over, put your legs over my shoulders in the back seat and fuck you raw until you’re so thorougly marked that no one will bother to look at my omega.” His apartment is 20 minutes away, 15 at this speed.

“Are we not going into heat at the same time?” The strength of his instincts are intimidating you. His eyes break from the road, expression softening.

“No michetta, we are. Sorry if I’m scaring you cara mia. Your second heat it’ll make more sense, but for now you’ve got to trust me.” He extends a hand to comfortingly rub your knee then snatches it away. You wish he hadn’t, that you were going 30 so he could drive one handed with the other between your legs.

“It’s just, I can’t smell your pheamones and all you’re talking about is sex. That's not usually like you. I know you stopped taking your blockers so our cycles would sync up, but that was like six hours ago. It just seems like everything is going really fast.”

“And what was your last thought about, michetta?” Your jaw drops and Damiano laughs. “As for things going really fast…” he sighs. “I’m sure it does feel that way. Like I said, this is not how I wanted to do it.” He looks crestfallen as he grips the steering wheel. “You triggered my rut, so we’re definitely in the same place.”

“How would you have to do it?” He smiles wide, at just the thought. You realize that he’s probably been secretly fantasizing about this since you started dating, maybe since he first saw you. “Well I wouldn’t have wanted it to be a medical necessity. I would have wanted you to ask me to be your alpha, formally, freely.” Given how culturally evolved you both were, it surprised you that this was something Damiano wanted. It was a mating tradition from the original hybrids, a way to establish a nonpermanent reproductive bond. In your particular case it was one tier above being your boyfriend and one tier below engagement.

“Will you be my alpha?” You turn towards him, surprised that you earnestly want this too.

“Y/n -”

“I’m not trying to cheapen this for you. I know this isn’t romantic or epic. That we’re driving at a highly illegal speed through back country butt-fuck nowhere in the middle of the night.I really wish I had flowers.”

“I think I’m the one that's supposed to have roses,” he sniffles.

“You love when I buy you flowers, don’t lie.” He lets out an emotional chuckle, wiping a stray tear from his cheek.

“I knew that this was inevitable, that it had to happen. For months now, in my mind it's always inevitably been with you. I just didn’t have a date. Obviously I’ve been avoiding it at all costs.”

“Really?” he croaks, wiping another tear. “You didn’t say anything.” Apparently rut also makes you emotional.

“I love you” you emphasize. “So of course. What else? Who else? I love you.” The weight of the thing lands on you, how it's much too heavy to have to have been ignored. Heat doesn’t have meaning to you because you’ve never experienced it, but it does to him. Of course it does. “I was too freaked out to consider that this could be” you pause and grimace. “Okay maybe not like a blessing, necessarily…”

“No I get it,” he assures, rubbing your knee. “I just didn’t want to demean you.”

“New rule: in the future let's not have a Big Bad Thing That We Never Ever Talk About, I feel like this wasn’t the healthiest and I want our relationship to be emotionally sustainable.” He nodded adamantly and you pushed for more information. “What else?”

“Well I’d get you settled in my apartment a couple days beforehand, that way you could nest if you wanted. I think it's part of the reason you’re feeling so destabilized right now.”

“Yeah both my moms nest,” you admit. You can see Damiano filling away the information. The thought of carefully collecting enough food for the duration of your heat, the time to organize your clothes and toiletries, and wrapping yourself in half a dozen blankets had your heart ache in yearning. “That would have been nice,” you say, wistfully.

“I’m sorry michetta.” Damiano strokes your cheek with the back of his knuckles. “I would have liked to prepare for rut with you too, instead of being catapulted into it.

“Well, since it's my fault you’re in rut, so I guess we’re even.” Damiano snickers and clicks on his blinker to exit the highway. ”How come I can’t smell you? Did the hormone blockers damage your scent glands?” The suggestion makes Damiano shudder.

“No, no.” He pauses to turn left off the freeway exit. “The short answer for that, since we’re almost home, is that heat and rut progress in different ways.”

“So besides the medical cluster fuck, everythings normal?”

“Mhm.” He keeps his eyes on the winding back roads as the first whispers of dawn hit the pine trees. The eyes of possums and racoons reflect back from the headlights. They’re crouched just off the shoulder, watching cars rumble by as the world is bathed in blue light. Damiano’s eyes carefully scan back and forth, making sure none get the bright idea to run into the road. After a few minutes, the steady beat of the blinker is on again, as Damiano turns into the parking lot of his apartment complex. You don’t hear it, though, or the engine turning off. He carefully undoes your seatbelt and carries you into his apartment, asleep in his arms.

After years of unsuccessfully trying to summon Loki, you turn to dark magic. It works and you manage to forcefully bring Loki to you. Summary: It’s the first trial you must face. You have no idea what to expect, you just hope you can figure out how to get through this challenge

You weren’t sure how long you were falling for when you finally landed. Your back hit the ground with a thud and you watched the portal close in the sky above you. You took a shaky breath as you looked down and noticed that your short dress had been replaced by a long, elegant maroon dress.

One that was certainly not from your time period.

You looked around as you stood from the ground, wiping blades of grass off of the unfamiliar fabric. It itched and was heavier than you expected. Grunting, you took in your surroundings - green grass, rolling hills, and...fuck, was that a castle?

It stood like a behemoth in the distance, its gray stone and brick appearing cold against its green backdrop. Looking around, you realized that was the only building around you. That must be your first destination. 

Great. How am I going to find the person I’m looking for in that?

You collected the bottom of your dress and began walking towards the castle. You could hear the pounding of horse hooves in the distance and when you got closer to the castle, you realized you were extremely out of your element. Guards surrounded the castle wearing thick sheets of armor and they held pointed spears. Flags with crests billowed in the wind. The road beneath you was made of dirt and you watched donkeys and oxen pull carts to and from the castle. This looked like something straight out of an old period film.

Oh. Right. Loki said he was sending you straight to 1402. Wonderful.
