Maomao (Also, they have their blinds raised all the way up, showing their faces to the emperor. They must really be confident. The lady further away seems to be a quiet type, but the lady closer to me seems full of confidence that she’s the most beautiful woman in the world. For sure, these two special envoys are on par with the high-ranked concubines in terms of beauty.)

Maomao “Ee. Omotta-toorino enshutsu-ni natta-to omoi-masu. Kura-yami-no nakade kuroi nuno’o hageba, totsujo arawareta-yoni mieru desho.”

Maomao “Yes. I think we were able to pull off what we intended. Pulling off a dark cloth in the dark will make it seem like the person suddenly appeared. These moths, though, are the finishing touch.”

猫猫（やり手婆の絵に描かれた淡(あわ)い光の正体(しょうたい)は、蛾の成虫だった。婆は嫌がらせだと言っていた）

Maomao (The glowing lights depicted in the painting from the old lady were actually mature moths. The old lady said it was a prank pulled on her.)

やり手婆「当日アタシの衣装にイタズラする奴らがいたのさ。虫の死骸(しがい)をこすり付けられてね」

Yarite-Babaa “Tojitsu atashino ishoni itazura-suru yatsuraga itanosa. Mushino shigai’o kosuri-tsuke-rarete-ne.”

Madam “There were idiots who tampered with my costume that night. They rubbed insect carcasses on it.”

猫猫（虫の中には、異性を呼ぶために匂いを発するものがいる。匂いにつられて来た雄(おす)が婆の周りに集まって、光をまとって舞う月の精に見えたわけだ…。何という偶然(ぐうぜん)…。手伝ってくれた子翠と小蘭には、お礼をしなくちゃな）

Maomao (Some insects emit scents to attract the opposite sex. Male moths were attracted to the old lady by the smell. Their glow made her appear like a moon fairy, dancing with the lights. What a coincidence… I have to thank Shisui and Xiaolan for their help.)

猫猫（しかし、特使だけにあの光景を見せるのは苦労した。御者(ぎょしゃ)にはあらかじめ、こちらを見ないよう言い含め、何かあってもすぐ飛び出せるよう、高順様たちがそばで待機(たいき)していた。あれは皆に見せる代物(しろもの)ではない…。傾国(けいこく)…まさに国を傾ける破壊力(はかいりょく)がある）

Maomao (Shikashi, tokushi-dakeni ano kokei’o miseru-nowa kuro-shita. Gyosha-niwa arakajime, kochira’o minai-yo ii-fukume, nanika attemo sugu tobi-daseru-yo, Gaoshun-sama-tachiga sobade taiki shite-ita. Arewa minani miseru shiro-mono-dewa nai… Keikoku… Masani kuni’o katamukeru hakai-ryoku-ga aru.)

Maomao (It took a lot of work to make sure only the envoys saw this. We had to make sure the carriage driver didn’t look this way. Master Gaoshun and a few others were close by, so they could step in if something happened. That wasn’t a sight anyone else should see. That was truly a powerful presentation, enough to topple nations.)

壬氏「おい…言う通りにした後は放置(ほうち)か」

Jinshi “Oi… Iu-toorini shita atowa hochi-ka.”

Jinshi “Hey! After I do what you tell me, you just ignore me?”

猫猫「おっ。ありがとうございます、壬氏様。重い衣装のまま、対岸(たいがん)まで泳いでいただいて」

Maomao “O. Arigato gozai-masu, Jinshi-sama. Omoi ishono mama, taigan-made oyoide itadaite.”

Maomao “Thank you very much, Master Jinshi, for swimming all the way to the opposite shore in your heavy outfit.”

壬氏「ハァ…うまくいったのか？」

Jinshi “Haa… Umaku itta-noka?”

Jinshi “Did it work?”

猫猫「ええ。特使たってのご要望に、これ以上なく応(こた)えられたと思います」

Maomao “Yes, I think we responded perfectly to the wishes of the envoys.”

壬氏「そうか…。後は知らんからな。髪がまだ濡(ぬ)れているぞ！」

Jinshi “I see. Well, it’s out of my hands now. My hair is still wet!”

Maomao (That problem hasn’t been completely solved yet. Individually, they’re small, but when combined, they could be poisonous. Who conspired to get those brought in here?)

壬氏「調べているが、どの宮の者も大量に香油を購入していた。翡翠宮の侍女たちもだ。毒になるものは処分させたが……例えば、あの特使たちの手配、ということは考えられないか？」

Jinshi “Shirabete-iruga, dono miyano monomo tairyoni koyu’o konyu shite-ita. Hisui-Kyuno jijo-tachi-mo-da. Dokuni naru-monowa shobun sasetaga……tatoeba, ano tokushi-tachino tehai, to-iu-kotowa kangae-rare-naika?”

Jinshi “I’m looking into it, but the oils were purchased in large quantities by members of all pavilions. Including the women in the Jade Pavilion. I had them get rid of any that could become poisonous, but… Is it possible the special envoys did this?”

猫猫「どうでしょう。彼女たちの狙いに、妃の座に潜り込むということもあったと思いますが…。矜持(きょうじ)はズタボロで、それどころじゃないでしょうね」

Maomao “Do-desho. Kanojo-tachino neraini, kisakino zani moguri-komu-to iu-kotomo attato omoi-masuga… Kyojiwa zuta-boro-de, sore-dokoroja nai-deshone.”

Maomao “I’m not sure. I’m sure ‘landing a spot as a concubine’ was on their list of goals, but…with their pride destroyed, they have much more to worry about.”

猫猫（後宮には４人の上級妃がいる。親の権力を考えると、最も重要視(じゅうようし)されるべきは楼蘭妃だろう。父親の子昌は、先の皇帝の代から重用(ちょうよう)されていた寵臣(ちょうしん)だ。主上は定期的に通(かよ)っているようだが、あまり熱量(ねつりょう)は高くなさそうだ）

Maomao (Kokyu-niwa yo-nin-no jokyu-hi-ga iru. Oyano kenryoku’o kangaeruto, mottomo juyoshi sareru-bekiwa Roran-hi daro. Chichi-oya-no Shishowa, Sakino koteino dai-kara choyo sarete-ita choshin-da. Shujowa teiki-teki-ni kayotte-iru-yodaga, amari netsuryowa takaku-nasa-soda.)

Maomao (There are four high-ranking concubines in the rear palace. Given the influence her father exerts, Concubine Loulan should be the most important. Her father, Shishou, is a favorite retainer who’s held that spot since the previous emperor’s reign. The emperor does visit her often, but he doesn’t seem too passionate about it.)

Hi how are you, I wanted to ask you if you know about the correct translation of kikyo's death scene with inuyasha as I saw a post that says that the most correct translation from Japanese, is that inuyasha mentions that she is the most important woman he loves in his life.

Hello! This is another example of shippers spreading misinformation, unsurprisingly.

Here is the original Japanese text and the translation from my friend:

桔梗... / お前は / おれが / 生まれて初めて / 好きになった / 大切な / 女だ。 Kikyou... / omae wa / ore ga / umarete hajimete / suki ni natta / taisetsu na / onna da. Kikyou... / you (are) / I am / the first time in one's life / to fall in love / significant; precious; valuable; to be cared for; cherished; beloved / woman (you are). 大切な人[taisetsu na hito] - a special person; 大切な女 [taisetsu na onna] probably follows the former, meaning, "a special woman." "Kikyou... You are the first (special) woman I've ever loved in my life." or "You're the first person I've ever loved, you're a special woman."

He's just saying that she's important to him because she's the first person he fell in love with and despite that, he did not succeed in protecting her from Naraku so she's dying again.

Patches, the person who translated many chapters of the Inuyasha manga also addressed this years ago (here) and they answered the same thing.

Note that inu-fanon/Patches is not a inukag shipper, they don't even like Kagome so this is an unbiased translation too.

No one has ever translated this as "most important woman he loves in his life", not even the people at Viz who worked on the English subs and dub. Wild how some people think they uncovered some hidden knowledge that ALL the translators who looked at that scene missed, somehow 🥴
