Youman ‘Introduction’ blog post - English Translation
Original: https://youman23.fanbox.cc/posts/494299
Hi I’m youMan.
It’s been one year since I became a Vocaloid producer, and thinking about it I never had the chance to properly introduce myself. This story might be a bit all over the place, but still I will tell it. ━━━━━━━━━━ First and foremost, more than anything, I love music. I really like it.
I have almost 2 years of experience with DTM. 8 years of experience making music. 6 years with guutar. With bass, I’m unsure (Probably around 4 years?). If I had to put a number to my experience with video-making, it may be around 2 years as well. Don't ask me about my experience with art, please..
I’m currently in the company of the Vocaloids GUMI-san and flower-san. I don’t know much about music theory. I’m the type of person who taught myself music by listening and reproducing. I’m the type of person who desires to overthrow the other types of people who say “Music theory is the only way to learn music, no ‘shortcuts’ allowed”. (Though music theory is obviously important too but). I’m better at listening and reproducing, rather than the standard means of creating music.
In regards to my personality, I’m an introvert. I’m ridiculously bad at talking with people. My dream to start a band has been crushed by this very weakness of mine. The ones who offered me a helping hand in my hour of need were Vocaloids (Or more realistically, I was the one who reached out to them but still). If Vocaloid didn’t exist, the curtains may have closed on me before I ever even bothered to show my music to the world.
I started making music 8 years ago using the DS game “Band Brothers DX”. Even now I’m still making the most of the BandBros’ 3DS game, 'Daigasso! Band Brothers'. When I make music I always use BandBros to create my demos. The first time I ever took one of those songs and released it was 6 years ago, under the title ‘幺穉(Youchi)'と. “I’m not a child anymooore!” are the lyrics but the quality of the music itself was pure childishness. In my defense there are limits to BandBros, no getting around that. Yuzuki Yukari sings the vocals, however I had asked someone else to master her for me so I myself don’t have Yukari-san. Nevertheless it was still my very first contact with Vocaloid. For some reason they were only able to make her sing 16 bars at a time, so I had to merge all the pieces together. This brings me back. Then around this time two years ago did I buy GUMI-san and Cubase(A software that allows me to do DTM), and I spent a year working on it until the time was ripe: I posted my true first song ‘Synchronizedrome’.
That concludes my journey up until I became a Vocaloid producer.
That's all I have to say for now then. I bid you well....

So i just finished making a track in Jam With The Band for the Nintendo DS. When i went to listen to it at the in-game radio station, Barbara the Bat mentioned through the radio that the literal meaning of the word "karaoke" is "empty orchestra". I've always wanted to know what "karaoke" literally meant, and now i know. Thanks, Barbara!
Did you guys ever had a moment where you learned a fun fact from a video game character?
