How do you see Sasaki’s first chat with Donato going down now that Amon’s present?

Ooh okay I have a few thoughts about this (I wrote a response for this earlier and then tumblr didn't save the draft *explodes*):

First of all Amon would obviously be super weary of Haise talking to Donato in the first place. He doesn't like the sound or idea of it at all. He's likely already certain that the "Alice" that Donato alluded to all that time ago was Kaneki/Haise, and look where it's gotten him now (wading into dangerous waters about CCG corruption, or really just. Everything about him and 'Eyepatch' in general), and there's no reason to believe he can't cause equal trouble with whatever he tells Haise. He absolutely knows things he Shouldn't, and that's dangerous.

Haise isn't so concerned, however. Donato seems... nice? In his weird, unconventional Donato-way. Donato speaks to him in a very friendly manner, and hears him out (in canon he says "You always help organize my thoughts. I appreciate it..."), obviously with Amon's disdain towards him he didn't really mean to have his guard so low like that, but it ends up happening away, because Donato seems to like Haise and having these conversations to kill the time. And at least he's more helpful about passing on information to Haise anyway. (He also probably occasionally prods Haise for info on how Amon's doing too LOL)

Regarding the fact that Amon was raised by Donato, now that gets complicated. Haise knows, obviously, and he wants to know more, but he likely thinks it both isn't his place to ask more about it and just, is hesitant to for a multitude of reasons. Asking Donato probably feels a bit like an invasion of privacy (if he did ask though, Donato would probably laugh about Amon as a kid, like about his sweet tooth), and obviously that would be a super touchy subject to ask Amon about. Honestly discussion about Donato between them is probably pretty strange in general, considering they both clearly have contrasting feelings about the man (and they're both complicated in their own ways (though Amon's are obviously moreso)). They probably try to keep it professional, discussion just the intel/info that he can give on cases, though maybe a few times Haise asks how Donato is like to other people, or something equally general (since asking why Amon has such disdain for him would be too obvious, and asking about his past upfront would be too direct).

As for Haise and Donato's conversations: Since Amon is here now, Donato obviously doesn't need to tell Haise to seek out a certain ghoul or anything. However, I think he would still be somewhat cryptic about it. Maybe he would hint that the "key" to his memories is much, much closer than he may think. That it's sitting within arm's reach, really, if he so chooses to pick it up and actually try and find out what was in his past. He would probably feed hints that point towards Amon, but leave it up to Haise himself to actually ask/remember anything, he's probably not just gonna spell it out for him. Maybe one day Haise recounts all the inexplicable feelings from his first encounter with Amon to Donato. Maybe Donato tells Haise that Amon may be more important to him than he realizes. Maybe he tells him that it's about time that he tries to figure out why.

Thinking about Akira + ghoul purring headcanons

She's a cat person, she's gotta love cat purrs!

I think OG series Akira would hate the fact that ghouls purr. That she would refuse to call it "purring", to never associate ghouls anywhere close to cats. She'd probably go on a whole detailed ramble about how its "not actually purring".

:re Akira would still firmly keep this stance, but secretly enjoy it whenever Haise purrs. She'd never admit this to anyone, though, much less him.

Late :re Akira, after she's realized that ghouls are people, she'd finally come around. She'd like ghoul purrs, and be able to admit she likes it. She'd love it when her half-ghoul loved ones cuddle her and purr. She'd probably tease Takizawa in particular mercilessly and make it her goal to make him purr. Maybe those ghoul kids would take a liking to her and pile on her and purr. And Akira would be just a little jealous that humans can't purr.

so after my slight reaperken/touka rambling yesterday i figured that i really have nothing to lose from posting this small snippet of a fic (oneshot??) thats been sitting in my google drafts for nearly the past two years; if this is crappy i can always just delete it but ive wanted to contribute a bit more to keep tokyo ghoul tumblr alive so i figure why not?

i felt so smart when i came up with the title since ken was a dove during that entire reaper arc until the events of cochlea. i didnt really pay attention to prince's lyrics in the song but looking back at it now i guess some apply? not really any inspiration was gained from it though, i just grew up with music from the 60s-90s so the title kind of came to my mind and it happened to be a prince reference. not really any ratings or warnings yet?? its nowhere near finished and im not sure if ill even finish it because i feel my writing heavily lacks.

anyway, without further ado

how many months had it been?

it had been months — years — since he recalled feeling this exact way. of course, haise had felt this way too, but it would never compare to the feelings he had for her before that brief period of time where he had lost recognition of everything and everyone who once meant something to him. ironically, it's when he felt most at peace with the butterflies in his stomach, beating against his rib cage and the cage surrounding the longing which could never be released. he’s regained his memories now, but he knew something was different within him even when he laid his glassy eyes on her again on that first visit to :re as sasaki haise. why did he feel so entrapped and yet so wrongly distant even when he had no recollection of her prior on that first visit to the cafe?

it would never be the same.

it would never compare to the feeling of falling in love with her and the realization that came with it. the realization that left him in a state of both a mix of surprise and agitation for days and with a feeling that could only be described as his heart skipping a beat and yet crumbling at the same time. it would never happen, would it? he had chosen to face that reality when he was still his old self, naive and too ashamed of his actions to actually face her after all the pain he caused her as a result of the pain which engulfed his entire life, too. too ashamed to accept his new reality, hiding behind his eyepatch — too ashamed to admit he had fallen in love so easily. he wasn't any different now.

haise may have fallen in love with her through the lens of a reborn figure with a fresh start and no boundaries to stand behind (apart from his obvious shyness and the weird sense of familiarity), but it just occurred by fate. the same fate that had snatched him from her years prior had found a way to bring him back into her arms and make him belong to her once again. he can't help but believe that maybe there was some future destined between them; the embittered part of his heart and soul makes him realize even that destiny would probably be cursed or filled with further strife.

though he supposed that didn't matter now.

not when he was even more distant from her than when he was an amnesiac with no recollection of her apart from the same old feeling of confusing comfort and longing. it's humorous and yet painful to think about how low he'd fallen in this aspect, not even being able to face her once again. despite his older age, he was still just a boy when it came to this same ancient rush, wasn't he? it doesn't matter. she surely didn't want anything to do with him anyways, especially not after everything that he's done. he's betrayed her and everyone who was once a part of him once again, and he’s chosen to accept that painful reality ever since he vowed to stop dreaming and flung tsukiyama off that building. facades all break down eventually.

he’d be disposed of soon enough before any of this could matter at all — before hinami was to be the one to disappear from the purgatory that was life as a ghoul. there was no heaven and there was no hell; there was no afterlife. heaven was bliss and safety on earth while hell was anguish and pain.

it was selfish of him to hope touka would feel any sort of pain after all of the grief and rage he's put her through time and time again, but he hoped he'd at least be remembered by the person he felt he loved most in this lifetime — the one who hadn't thrown him aside but who had instead built a nest for him as if though her life depended on it. he can't help but wonder… he’s had everyone he's ever known and cared for snatched from his hands by the same twisted fate that led him to await his upcoming death, he doesn't know if the puddle of both coldness and warmth in his stomach is either fear or love.

he'd truly cherish any memory he had of her before he’d be killed.

he vaguely remembers telling her, years ago, that he'd be sad if she died; he just hopes she would be saddened at his death, too.

Tokyo Ghoul Headcanons

These are my own opinions drawn from interactions in the show and manga! Please be kind!

Hi hi!! For sillies I wanted to share my TG headcanons! I am a genderfluid aroace lesbian so I'm kind of biased towards the women bc I'm in love w them all tbh but I'll probably make more if I feel like it. For now have some main ones :)

Hide (he/him cis) - Bisexual! He's heavily bi coded in the manga and in the anime too! The way he interacts with Kaneki especially is very...

Saiko (she/they trans) - She's a character I project onto a lot. She doesn't seem to care much for romance or really socializing in general which is so real tbh. Her lack of caring I don't think translates to her platonic relationships later in the series (as we see) but I think her romantic interest is slim to none.

Urie (he/him cis (?) I can see him as trans tbh) - He is a bitter gay man. Prove me wrong. He's the black cat to Ginshi's golden retriever.

Ginshi - Bisexual! To me he seems unconcerned w labeling himself but still views everyone as attractive and isn't sure why.

Tooru (he/him trans) - MY FAVOURITE CANON TRANS MAN ILY 🙏🙏 He's gay imo but I am open to other interpretations as well.

Juuzou (he/they agender) - Demisexual but even then hasn't ever been romantically involved w anyone bc of his trauma.

Rize (she/her demigirl) - I have no clue why but she gives off a lesbian demigirl vibe idk?? I'm in love w her and want her to be a lesbian but besides that. I have nothing.

Ayato (he/him trans) - I think he's a trans man and aroace. I don't imagine him falling in love like. At all.

Touka (they/she nonbinary I just forgot the flag) - LESBIANISM ‼️‼️ Touka belongs on the island w me and the other lesbians. I view her and Kaneki's relationship as more platonic in the first series. In :re it's a Lot harder to ignore but I choose to ignore canon a lot anyways in favour of my happiness so idk. Plus she's in love w her human best friend so idk what to tell y'all besides the Touka is a lesbian truth.

Kaneki / Haise Sasaki (he/they demiboy) - I normally view these two as different people BUT I can honestly see Kaneki impacting Sasaki's identity and vice versa. Kaneki just whispering in his ear "you WILL be gay. You have no choice."

free pass to talk about touken

HAHA, you're really indulging me huh

Ohhh what to talk about. It's funny, they occupy my brain 24/7 but as soon as someone asks me about them then there's nothing in that little head of mine. I guess I'm just gonna ramble lol.

Today I've been headcanoning about Touka sitting and waiting next to Kaneki while he's in his coma. Saiko and Urie being next to her as well and Saiko asking her who she is since she and Urie shouldnnttt really know her iirc. She introduces herself and also says that she's nekis wife (I will never get over her "MY HUSBANDS WAITING FOR ME UP THERE" MY GOD, I DIED AND ASCENDED HEAVEN THAT DAY) and saiko and urie getting shocked at that.

Saiko gets sad about the fact that she missed the wedding (calling her mamans wife from then on 😭♥️) and Urie mutters "First Takeomi, now Haise......." which catches Touka's attention. Since they visited yorikos wedding, she probably asked Kaneki who the man is she's marrying and what he's like. So if they know takeomi then they should also know what happened to yoriko!

And she freezes up because since she found out about the execution, she probs completely avoided thinking about it nor engaging with the topic in any way. She already did canonically with Kaneki but he knows how she feels and how that is and can give her comfort in the nights when the pain is too much to bear. Touka silently crying while Kaneki hugs her and kisses her trying to ease the pain if not at least a little 🥺

She is too scared to even ask if yoriko's still alive, too afraid of the answer. And while she starts trying to form the question, she unconsciously holds kaneki's hand enclosed between her two hands and squeezes it. Trying to find the strength to ask that question.

Urie starts answering before she even finished forming her sentence, assuming maybe she wants to ask where they are and tells her that they left the city (IIRC LMAO).

She falls forward, relief going through her whole body and holds kanekis hand against her forehead. Saiko and Urie ask her if she's okay since her body starts shaking but she says that she's fine. Knowing that Yoriko is alive and well and away from all the insanity that is happening right now in Tokyo, she couldnt be more happier about it. Now she only needs the person in front of her to wake up.

Gahhhh, I'm just.... soooo damn soft for hurt/comfort AND THATS LITERALLY TOUKENS WHOLE THING. Makes me think about the way Kaneki was nervous about seeing Hide again after all these years and going for Touka's hand, wanting to hold it in order to ease that nervousness 😭🤲🤲🤲 THEY ALWAYS GO FOR EACHOTHERS HANDS WHENEVER THEY ARE IN NEED OF COMFORT.

Although I also really like the thought of Kaneki needing lots of physical comfort and touka needing emotional comfort while the way that they give comfort is both the opposite, Kaneki giving emotional comfort and touka giving physical one. Perfectly aligning <3

Anon you cannot fathom how delighted I was to see this, rambling about my favorite characters brings me so much joy. In short, he’s entertaining! Be a terrible person, start conflict, act painfully annoyingly, but god forbid you bore me, it’s the worst offense a character can make and Takizawa has very rarely been guilty.

(Warning, there's a LOT of text under this cut and some god awful takes on his characterization because my reading comprehension skills are nigh nonexistent.)

More specifically I’m quite fond of two combining factors in a character, desperation and extravagance (Intentional or not). Give them something to prove, a person to live for, a point to make, a thing to achieve, and make their method of going about it absolutely impossible to ignore.

 A subsection of that which I find consistently intriguing is when the thing to prove is themselves, their strength, their skills, their need to be the best. Takizawa does this very well! Running Haise against a building while screaming about always being second best, he changes a lot but he’s always in search of approval and attention. I like broken characters. I like a character that doesn’t even know what they really are or need beyond a singular goal, a thing living not because they want to but because if they gave up now everything terrible that’s happened to them, that they’ve done, wouldn’t be a step in the process, it would only be terrible. The goal can waver, blur, shift, and change, but the attitude remains. Crush that fucker with the cold reality of the world and have them keep going anyways because they have to. 

Also, I like the silly ones! Particularly in tonally inappropriate moments, it takes a lot to make me exhibit any sort of external reaction indicating emotion involuntarily, but I cracked a smile gladly when Takizawa compared that investigator’s head to a pineapple and spun it around. Yes it’s a coping mechanism on his behalf, yes I find it amusing nevertheless. 

If Kaneki is the half-ghoul with a foot in both worlds, I believe Takizawa to truly be the half-ghoul with a foot in neither. His humanity is all but gone, killing people without any kind of remorse for the most part, but he still looks down on ghouls, perceiving, or at least commenting on them as if they really are the heartless beasts the CCG taught him to see them as, despite very obvious evidence to the contrary. He improves with time but that kind of arrogance in spite of it all keeps him from making true connections to almost anyone post-experimentation. 

Oh how I could go on for hours about the symbolism in every last Tokyo Ghoul character but I’ll keep this brief, the themes and images of self-destruction and jealousy are immaculate. 

Appearance is actually a factor that grows on me after the character most of the time, but a cool one is definitely a bonus. While human Takizawa is kind of just a guy and I love him anyways, ghoul Takizawa is fantastic. The form-obscuring cloak? The striped turtleneck thing? The overshadowed eyes? The black lips? The too-large eyes with too-small pupils? He looks like a fucked up raccoon! That’s why I’m not quite fond of anime Takizawa, he looks too clean and shiny (Also the thickness of his neck stripes is always changing?). Wrinkled isn’t the right word but I like how his face looks kind of crumpled and wrong. The most bisexual transgender to ever. In conclusion, I want to put him in a jar and shake it gently because I don't want to scare him but I do need to study him. Once again thank you for the opportunity to rant about a thing I like, if anyone ever wants to give me the chance again with ships, characters, whatever… the askbox is always open and sometimes I'll do little character doodles like the one above along with it.

Hades loves his Will, Will does love his Hades, but is not that much of a fan of D.

Hades’ favorite color is phthalo green and when Will is with him, Will is usually in a dark or light green color schemed outfit.

The tattoo on Will’s shoulder is of a loong dragon, which Hades associates a lot with. Hades has two loong dragons as pets and feels a very strong connection with them. He’s able to talk to his dragons and understand them as if they were speaking English.

Hades is not a terrible person. Just like in Greek mythology, Hades isn’t “evil” like the Disney’s Hercules or a lot of other westernized media of the story of Hades. Hades was heavily changed in America to be a replacement of Satan and Zeus was changed to be God, which leads a lot of people to believe Hades is evil, but… he’s not.

Our Hades in our system believes he is Greek mythology God Hades, and he isn’t evil. He really just wants to be left alone a lot of the time, except to see Will or hang out with Levi - as Levi and Hades are actually good friends.

D. - in Hades’ subsystem - is, however, more of the stereotype of Hades in America. He’s not “evil” since no alter really is “evil”, but he’s not a very good person. He doesn’t care about anyone else except Will and often takes Will against his will and keeps him, even if Will is with Haise. D. will even fight other people if they try and stop him from doing what he wants to do. He’s very complex and doesn’t talk much to anyone else except for Will, but even Will doesn’t know that much about D. except for the fact that he holds a lot of pain and trauma from our ex and someone else we used to know.

I’m rambling.

Will really does love Hades and enjoys spending time with him, but to Will, Haise is his main priority and sometimes being with Hades really causes an issue for Will and Haise and even Will and Hades - especially when Will starts fighting him about it. Hades is an attention whore that just wants to see his little angel and will sometimes even lure him with the promise of drugs.

Anyway, I want to get more into Hades and his story, but he’s a secretive man.
