Showing up here in my more avian visage rather than my calico face to ask you for some ice, snow, and general cold weather terms. I was looking over the one story I have written down of the Troutfur canon and I noticed these seemed to be a bit of a motif in cats around him, including his meddie mentor Iciclenose, his brother Sleetstep, and his mother Hailcloud.

COLD WEATHER TERMS LET'S GOO

Icicle = Sski From Ice + Fang

Sleet = Chirss Rain mixed with snow as it falls from the sky, a type of weather

Hail = Ginqa When ice chunks fall from the sky in pellets.

Powder = Pfefu Snow that has not frozen on the top, and doesn't 'sonch' when you step on it. Light, fluffy, sticks to things.

Flurry = Urhrra Wind that carries snow on the breeze, a light snowstorm.

Glaze = Kirka A thin sheet of ice that forms on things, completely and totally. It's not frost anymore, it is a solid ice coating.

Slush = Sblef Snow that is technically melting, but it has a watery, chunky sort of consistency. Usually looks dirty.

And, of course, in the lexicon already is;

Frost = Hess

Frost (Temperature) = Chiki. When it is cold outside, when things are freezing.

Hailcloud | ShadowClan Warrior

This is Lightstar’s very loving mate! I truly love his design and had a lot of fun making the white hail like markings that earned him his initial name! These two have a wonderful relationship together and love one another very much.

Whoops I made a family tree for Troubletrout and Mischiefsplash!

Their mother is Hailcloud, a black, grey, and red Riverclan cat, and their father is Daisyspot, a pale brown Windclan cat with darker brown freckles. Hailcloud was ill when the kits were born, so they were fostered by Littlefish (a pale gray cat) alongside her kit Storkbite (a pale gray and white cat). 

Hailcloud’s kits went unnamed for a while, because she was ill, no one knew the father, and Littlefish thought it would be rude to name them if Hailcloud might still recover. She did recover, and the kits had gained a reputation in the clan for shenanigans and harmless pranks. Hailcloud joked to her brother, Pebblebounce (a black cat with gray spots) that she was naming the tom Troublekit, and Troublekit overheard and was very excited. Mischiefkit asked for a similar name.

Both Daisyspot and Hailcloud later found mates in their own clans (both of whom know that Daisyspot is the father of Troubletrout and Mischiefsplash). Daisyspot’s new mate is Mintleaf (a white cat with dark brown markings), and their kits are Frecklepelt (a white cat with dark brown spots), Cloverdash (a white cat), and Yellowpetal (a pale yellow-brown cat with a white mark on her face).

Hailcloud’s new mate is Shadedapple (a black and brown cat), and their kit is Slateface (a black cat with a dark gray face).

Sometime later, both Troubletrout and Mischiefsplash have kits. Troubletrout’s mate is Quickdrip (a brown cat with white and black markings), and their kits are Honeyleap (a light yellow cat), Drizzlefur (a gray and brown cat), and Rainslip (a gray cat with white markings).

Mischiefsplash’s mate is Creekdive (a gray tabby), and their kits are Rowdyclaw (a gray tabby), and Chaosfur (a black, red, and gray cat).

A New, Weird Place

Notes:

My silly guy Hailcloud! He uh…is totally fine (/j)

Currently, he’s in a bit of a jiffy! Got lost in a twolegplace, and having an inner conflict whether he should even return home, after being missing for… 5? 6 days? I wanted to convey those feelings of uncertainty and fear in his expression, uncertainty if his Clan would welcome him back, and fear of new and scary things around every corner.

Little tid bits: The darker wounds are the ones he got recently from a rogue that are just untreated and dried up, and the lighter ones are from past events (Ex, Cheek scar being from when he was an apprentice, Lighter wound on his throat from fighting a Dark Forest cat)

Onto the background, AAAUUUGHHH IT WAS SO PAINFULLL. I did literally EVERYTHING in the wrong order, which just made it harder and more tedious, lmao. The two (technically three) props in the front (the car and lamp posts) were easy, just did the line art, colored them in, and blurred them, but the BACKGROUND?? ahahhjijiohoihouwhuiwhiuwhwui first i decided “oh hey i wanna blur the pipes” Nope, got the lineart for those on the same layer as all the lineart for the boxes and dumpster. So i had to move that to a different layer, had to move the coloring as well, then decided, “HECK, ILL BLUR THE DUMPSTER AS WELL.” And made it TEN TIMES MORE TEDIOUS.

Buuuuut regardless, i think it came out pretty good!
