“Y/N?” Kenma said, your head popped up from the table you sat at, drowsy eyes looking at the senior student-teacher stood at the front of the room. Of course, he was filling in for the teacher that day. You could hear some snickers around you as you sat up slowly, rubbing your eyes as you murmured a slight “Yes?”
“Do you know the medicinal value of the subject matter?” he asked, his voice always seemed to be soft, somehow never speaking above what seemed to be a whisper even though his voice carried through the room and up the risers to your ears. You shook your head, not wanting to try to stammer through a lie as you felt your cheeks grow a bit hot.
“I’m sorry I don’t-” you said a bit softer than you tried to.
“I’d like to speak to you after class,” he said as he turned back to the overly large black chalkboard. “I’m a bit worried about you.”
You practically sank in your seat, trying to neutralize the nervous butterfly feeling in your gut.
As class ended you gathered your things, a yawn slipping out of your mouth as you stood up. You waited until everyone filed out of the class, and you slowly walked down the riser stairs, standing right in front of the teacher’s desk where the black and blonde-haired man sat.
Being so close to him you noticed the slight tone he had to his arms, he’d spoken about having been a volleyball player in high school, and the work he must’ve put into it showed. He never said he was exceptionally into it, but it was obvious he’d been athletic at one point in his life.
“Hey look I’m sorry about dozing off earlier- it’s just-” you started but you were cut off as his eyes met yours. You shuddered where you stood, like a chill running down your spine as he stood up to talk to you.
“Freshmen right?” he asked, moving around the desk. His slightly loose long sleeve shirt moved with his body, his muscled thighs were covered by some black joggers. You nodded, watching him as he moved in front of you, the desk behind you.
“Freshman year is always an adjustment,” he said, his eyes half-lidded as he looked at you. “It can be hard to keep a hold on time management but you have to stay focused,” he said, that whisper-like voice making your skin tingle.
“I’m not yet a real teacher you know, this is just practice,” he said, his hands sinking into his pockets-
“So you can always come to talk to me if you need help.”
You could feel a golf ball-sized ball lodged in your throat, nervously shifting your weight from foot to foot as you nodded. “It has been rough, everything just seems so overwhelming sometimes,” you admitted, and you weren’t lying. Your major was by no means an easy one, and working hard was something you seemingly had to do 24/7. Your friendships were beginning to fall off because it felt that you didn’t have much time for them, what with all the studying and assignments you needed to get done.
“I will,” you reassured, maybe seeing this as a lifeline. A lifeline with soft lips, a sweet but mature face, long hair running down his back- he seemed perfect. A perfect Lifeline-
Who’s hands were now on yours.
His fingers interlaced with yours as his eyes finally met yours, a serious yet inviting look in his expression as his bright eyes locked with yours. You tried to keep yourself calm but your heart was beating out of your chest. “Are you stressed?”
Stressed was not the word right now- but what could you say? You nodded your head as his hand moved from your hands to your arms, his soft palms pressing against your skin as he pulled you closer. “Do you want me to make it better?”
You knew deep inside yourself what he meant, the way his eyes traced the lines and curves of your body, how he was so close you could smell the faint scent of amber and vanilla wafting through your nose.
You once again nodded before his hand came to your chin, forcing your head up slightly-
“I need you to say so.”
“Yes sir, please”
Please- you couldn’t help yourself. Calling him sir seemed so wrong, he was technically your teacher, but now his hands were roaming down your body, hooking under your thighs as he lifted you up, setting you down on the desk. You gasped, hands moving to his shoulders in reflex right before his lips connected to yours.
Fingers interlaced themselves in his hair as his own slipped up under your shirt, exploring your skin before finding their way to your tits. You sighed into his mouth as his fingers slipped over your buds, rolling the sensitive peaks between his fingers.
"You needed this didn't you?" he said, his voice whispering directly in your ear as you squirmed on the desk, hands clutching him tightly as he moved ever closer to you, playing with you so softly.
"You needed me to help you loosen up didn't you-" he gleamed as you whimpered in response. Your body slid forward slightly, legs straddling Kenma's thigh that he hurried up as he felt you move. You moaned as one hand came to your waist, pushing you down on his thigh as he began to grind you against his muscled thigh.
You took the opportunity, trying to rid yourself of that needy feeling in your gut as you pushed yourself against his thigh, the feeling so good as waves of pleasure rode up your body.
"Such a good student ya?" he said, watching as your attention turned.
"I can't wait to make you my good girl too."

The protesters even reportedly berated library staff members when they refused to shut down the pre-approved meeting. One staff member eventually asked the CR members to leave in order to end the disturbance, but meeting attendees chose to respond by sitting quietly and refusing to leave the area.
The commotion culminated in one of the student activists running out into the main library area screaming that there were “Nazis downstairs,” but while the gimmick drew several spectators, many of them expressed indignation at the actions of the protestors.
"As a Democrat, I am embarrassed that some people on the left act this way,” remarked Phil Leonard Vogel, creator of the moderate campus news publication City on a Phil. “They give all of us a terrible name."

“And look at this picture! He totally went bald, it’s only been a couple years and he’s completely bald!”
Ukai sighed deeply, trying to tune out Shimada’s and Takinoue’s gossip as he flipped through a magazine at the store counter.
Shimada had recently made it a point to friend all their old classmates on FaceBook, claiming it would be good to ‘get in touch’ with everyone and set up a reunion.
Ukai was sure it was an attempt to rekindle old flames with their female classmates.
“Why haven’t you joined FaceBook, Ukai? If you join and you friend me, I’ll only be a couple more people away from having our whole class on here!” Shimada exclaimed, continuing to scroll through his feed while Takinoue looked over his shoulder.
“I don’t need a bunch of strangers to know my business,” Ukai replied, not bothering to glance up at them from his magazine, “If they matter, they’ll already know.”
Shimada huffed before returning to his recommended friends list.
A chirp from the phone followed by an excited gasp caused Ukai to give another irritated sigh.
“(Y/n) friended me back!” Shimada said excitedly.
Ukai finally looked up from the reading material, resisting the urge to completely set it aside and attempt to snatch the phone from his friend’s hands.
“Woah! She looks totally different- she messaged me!”
Well, that was enough for Ukai to toss the magazine aside and try to get a look at the phone.
“What? What’d she say?”
“Oh nowww you’re interested!” Shimada huffed, shielding the phone from Ukai’s eyes. “She said she’s moving back to town for work. She wants to meet for dinner and drinks tonight.”
Ukai would never admit to it, but that made his heart drop. He hadn’t seen or heard from (Y/n) in 7 years.
She decided to go to college in the city, meaning she left everything behind. Including Ukai. After being best friends since middle school (and boyfriend and girlfriend their third year of high school) she just left.
It wasn’t like Ukai didn’t understand. He totally understood why she wanted to go. That didn’t make their breakup any easier though.
“Lucky for you, she’s asking me to invite you and Takinoue.” Shimada smiled, typing out his reply to her.
“What are you saying?” Ukai asked, crossing his arms and sitting back in his chair.
“That we’ll see her at 7 at our old spot.” Shimada replied, sending the message before any of them could object. Not that Ukai would.
He would have to haul ass back to the shop from Karasuno, get changed into something presentable, then haul ass to the restaurant. But he would do it if it meant seeing (Y/n) again.
And that is exactly what he did.
He rushed his last words to the team before sprinting out of the gym, leaving the the boys confused and Takeda scrambling to come up with words of encouragement on the spot.
Once Ukai arrived at the restaurant, he was showered and dressed in jeans and a casual button-up. Something to show he tried but not really.
Shimada and Takinoue had seated themselves to face the door, meaning (Y/n)’s back was to Ukai when he arrived. Once the two started to wave Ukai over, (Y/n) turned to look at him and smiled.
Ukai was suddenly 18 years old again; palms sweaty and knees weak from that familiar smile.
“Keishin!” (Y/n) got up from her spot and leapt into his arms, wrapping her arms around his neck in a tight embrace he wasn’t expecting. “It’s been so long!”
He quickly returned the hug, lifting her off her tip-toes for a moment. “Too long.”
Ukai set her back down, pulling out of the embrace and repressing the blush he had felt creeping up his neck.
The two sat down, all while (Y/n) continued staring at Ukai. “You look so different, look at this hair!” she beamed, lightly tugging on a blonde strand of hair. “You got your ears pierced too!”
“Yeah,” Ukai smiled, scratching at the back of his head, “I went a little overboard after graduation but I think it fits me...” More like after you left...
“Well I love it. It definitely fits you.” (Y/n) smiled, her gaze lingering on him before turning back to her drink.
“Well, let’s toast! To rekindling old friendships!” Takinoue held up his glass, clinking it against the other three.
Ukai watched (Y/n) from the corner of his eye as he sipped at his beer. It was almost room temperature since they ordered it before he arrived, but his thoughts were wandering elsewhere.
It would be way too forward to tell her how beautiful she had gotten in the years she was gone. When they finally got together their third year, she was a budding flower, still beautiful in her own right as a young woman. Now she was fully bloomed, radiant and flawless. A woman.
Rather than spilling his guts to her about how much he missed her and how these past 7 years were agony, Ukai spent the night laughing about old times while also catching up on more recent events.
“You’re really coaching at Karasuno huh? And to think you gave your gramps all that shit for sticking around like that...” (Y/n) smirked, downing the last of her drink.
“This is different, they really needed it.” Ukai smiled, tapping his fingers against his glass.
“You guys really needed it too, though.” she quipped, earning a laugh from Shimada and Takinoue.
“And what about you? You said you came back for work. What work?” Ukai asked, lightly nudging (Y/n) with his elbow.
(Y/n) shrugged, “I’m an athletic trainer and physical therapist. I’m interviewing for a job tomorrow. That’s all I’ll say about it because I don’t want to jinx it.” There was a coy smile playing on her lips. Either it was the alcohol or she was up to something.
“Well good lu-” Ukai was cut off by (Y/n) covering his mouth.
“No! You’ll jinx it!” (Y/n) giggled, keeping her palm firmly against his lips.
Ukai responded in kind by dragging his tongue along her palm, earning a squeal of disgust from (Y/n) as she pulled back.
“Sick! Keep your bodily fluids to yourself!” (Y/n) groaned, wiping her hand on his shirt.
“Need I remind you there was a time when you didn’t mind my spit.” Ukai smirked, looking away from her to hide his slight blush.
“Oh I don’t need any reminders there.” (Y/n) replied, rolling her eyes at him.
“I can’t believe you two dated.” Takinoue sighed, resting his chin on his palm.
Ukai sent a small glare his way.
“N-not as in you two weren’t a good fit! It’s more like... we all kind of expected you both to get together, when it finally happened it was like a dream!” he explained.
“He’s right,” Shimada added, slowly nodding. “No more tip-toeing around each other. No more cat and mouse. Just boom! Ukai and (Y/n)! They’re like an elephant! When they walk into a room it’s like, okay! They’re in there!”
Now there was no hiding the blush on Ukai’s cheeks. He looked down at (Y/n), who had started shuffling in her spot.
“O-okay, judging from his volume I think it’s time to call it a night.” (Y/n) said, checking her phone for the time. “I need to get to bed soonish anyway. Interview’s in the afternoon but I still want time to get ready.”
“I can get him home.” Takinoue said, dropping cash on the table and helping Shimada up. “We’ll catch up again soon.”
Ukai and (Y/n) bid them goodbye as they began fishing for their wallets.
“You back home home? Or have you found a place?” Ukai asked, helping (Y/n) onto her feet once she paid her fair share of the tab.
She shook her head, “Im in a hotel kinda nearby. Thought it would be weird going back to my parents’ place as a 26 year old...”
Ukai chuckled, following her out of the restaurant. “I don’t blame you.”
The two went silent for a bit, shuffling their feet and hesitating to make eye contact.
“...Shimada never could hold his liquor, huh?” Ukai asked, earning a giggle from (Y/n).
“You’d think after all these years he would have learned...” she mused, running a hand through her hair.
They both went silent again until (Y/n) spoke up, her tone conveying an inkling of hope.
“I have to get up early and all but even then... I’m still kind of thirsty...”
Ukai gave her a small smile, “We can get some beer on the house from the shop...?”
(Y/n) smiled back, “I’d like that.”
He offered (Y/n) his arm, hiding his excitement when she linked their arms and began walking with him in the direction of the shop.
He was sure to lock the door behind them, keeping the lights off so they wouldn’t be disturbed. Even though the shop sign read ‘closed,’ some of the Karasuno boys would still try to get in if the lights were on.
“Do we get to drink in the dark the rest of the night?” (Y/n) asked, taking a swig of her drink.
“We can go upstairs... sit in the living room and talk.” Ukai offered, his palms getting sweaty all over again.
Once (Y/n) accepted, he lead her up the staircase in the back of the store, unlocking the door to his flat and letting her enter first.
“Ooooo, bachelor pad.” She teased, looking around the room. It was surprisingly clean, except for the clothes trail towards the shower he had left earlier.
“Nothing to see here!” he shouted, swiping his boxer briefs from off the floor and throwing them into his bedroom.
(Y/n) giggled, turning away to look at the wall decorations he had strung up. Some movie posters, one karasuno poster, and a couple pictures of their friend group in high school.
She paused at a particular photo of the two of them at graduation, smiling fondly at the memory. “Bring a lot of women up here?”
Ukai had been gathering the rest of the clothes on the floor, pausing at the question. “None that are really noteworthy...”
(Y/n) hummed to herself, tearing her eyes away from the picture and making her way to the couch.
“It’s kind of awkward since the town is small... so I’ve kinda stopped doing that.” he explained, retrieving his beer and sitting beside her.
“Kinda?” she asked.
Ukai shrugged, “I’m only human... I slip up and break my own rules every now and then.”
(Y/n) smiled slightly, shaking her head and taking another drink. “Some things never change...” she mumbled against the bottle.
He kept his eyes on her the whole time, tapping his thumb against the glass. “Did you...?”
(Y/n) bit her lip, unwilling to meet his gaze before taking a big swig of her drink.
“You seemed so sure you would before you left... but it still feels like the same (Y/n).” Ukai continued, slowly looking her over.
“Is it bad if I didn’t change?” she asked, staring at a random corner of the room.
“Not at all...” Ukai paused, unable to hold back a sigh before continuing. “It just makes me wonder... why break up if the only thing that really changed was your zip code...”
“I mean- I did change. I grew up, you did too. I just didn’t want it to end badly because of those growing pains.” (Y/n) explained. “Did... did you think it ended badly?”
“N-no, no I didn’t. I’m grateful it ended the way it did, rather than you falling out of love with me or something... Not that you still love me now- I’m just- Ugh! Bottom line, I’m fine with how things happened. It just... stings...”
(Y/n) chewed at her lip, something Ukai knew she did when she was anxious. He just made things super weird, all cuz he wanted closure.
“Do you have any regrets?” she suddenly asked, finally looking up at him.
Ukai sighed softly, slowly nodding his head. “Yeah... just one... I didn’t go after you.... Do you...?”
(Y/n) chuckled softly, turning back to her bottle. “Yeah actually... I didn’t stay with you.”
The two went silent. Ukai hadn’t meant for the conversation to take this turn. He wasn’t even drunk and he was still spilling his guts over a breakup from 7 years ago.
(Y/n) downed the last of her beer, setting the empty bottle on the coffee table before fully facing Ukai. “Can we try something?”
He raised an eyebrow at her, setting his bottle on the coffee table before turning to her.
“You’re going to kiss me. And if we don’t feel anything, I’ll leave and act like it never happened...” (Y/n) explained. It was a simple set of instructions but it had Ukai’s heart ready to jump out of his chest.
“And if we feel something?” He asked.
(Y/n) shrugged. “I dunno. But I won’t leave...”
Ukai took a deep breath, closing his eyes momentarily to regain his confidence.
“Okay,” he opened his eyes, “I’m ready.”
“You’re kissing your ex-girlfriend, not disarming a bomb.” (Y/n) quipped.
“Well, now I have to take another deep breath because you broke my concentration.” Ukai complained.
“Will you just hurry-”
Without warning, Ukai cupped (Y/n)’s cheeks and pulled her into a gentle, passionate kiss.
He told himself to keep it simple, but 7 years of repressed feelings suddenly began pouring out into this one intimate moment. Before he knew it, (Y/n) was kissing him back, hands clinging to his shirt and pulling him closer.
(Y/n) brushed her tongue over his lip, earning a moan from Ukai as he pulled her body flush against his.
(Y/n) pulled away for a moment, lightly pushed Ukai to lay on his back, then moved between his legs and flush against him.
Ukai breathlessly pulled her into another kiss, sighing shakily against her lips as his hands roamed her body. He was beginning to regret wearing jeans instead of his usual sweat pants.
(Y/n) tossed his hairband aside and began running her fingers through his hair, causing another moan to bubble from his lips.
No other women made him moan like this. But this was (Y/n). (Y/n) who knew him inside and out. (Y/n) who he knew inside and out.
He brushed his hand through her hair, lightly gripping it and pulling her away, tugging her head to the side and dragging his tongue up her throat. She moaned shakily, gripping his shirt so tight that Ukai thought the buttons might pop off.
The sudden feeling of (Y/n) grinding her hips against Ukai’s had him tugging her hair harder and biting her neck.
(Y/n) whined and began shakily unbuttoning his shirt.
He parted from her neck and moved her to sit up, taking off the button-up and his undershirt.
(Y/n) had gotten busy trying to take off her dress, she almost didn’t notice Ukai’s shirtless body.
She went hot, looking over his amazing physique. He looked nothing like this when they were last together. Something special caught her eye, causing her to smirk once her dress was tossed aside.
“When’d you do this?” she asked, brushing her fingers over one of his pierced nipples. Ukai shivered at her touch. He retaliated by reaching around her and unclasping her bra, tossing it away.
“I told you I went overboard after you left...” he mumbled, kneading her breasts.
(Y/n) moaned shakily, peppering needy kisses against Ukai’s lips. “Take me right here...” she murmured between kisses.
Ukai suddenly flipped their position, getting (Y/n) on her back and straddling her. He pulled his wallet from his back pocket, beginning to take a condom out until (Y/n) stopped him.
“Nuh-uh, I’m on the pill. I’m clean. I want you raw.” She panted, hastily unbuckling his belt.
This was a dream come true.
Ukai threw the wallet aside and tugged off (Y/n)’s panties, stuffing them in the pocket of his jeans before tugging his pants halfway down his thighs.
(Y/n)’s eyes went wide at the sight of him. She gripped the couch cushion as he rubbed his tip against her slit, sighing shakily.
“Maybe I should have stretched first...” (Y/n) breathed, hips twitching as Ukai eased the tip inside of her.
“You’ll get a good stretch from this, angel...” he grunted, her old nickname adding onto the pleasure they were both experiencing.
Ukai eased in deeper, his hips stuttering as (Y/n) dug her nails into his arms. His teeth dug into his bottom lip and his eyes screwed shut. They moaned in unison once he was fully inside of her.
“Kei, if you don’t move...” (Y/n) whined, rolling her hips to gain some friction.
Ukai moaned shakily, slowly rocking his hips against her’s. “Y-you’re as tight as the first time we fucked...”
(Y/n) gasped as Ukai suddenly hit her g-spot, prompting him to thrust faster into that spot he instantly recognized. “Has my angel been waiting for me this whole time?”
She moaned louder, dragging her nails down his arms, earning a symphony of moans from him as well.
Ukai hooked one arm under her leg, spreading her legs wider as he continued plowing into her. He struggled to keep himself propped up with the other hand, shaking hard as (Y/n) began to tighten around him.
He pressed his forehead to hers, growling as she stared into his eyes and clawed at his shoulders.
“Keiiii pleaaaase!” she shrieked, squirming against him.
“T-that’s it, angel. Let me have it...” he groaned, brushing his lips against hers.
(Y/n) screamed shakily, burying her face in Ukai’s neck and biting him.
Ukai came after a few more thrusts, emptying himself inside her while he moaned wildly.
They both panted hard, a wave of euphoria crashing into them in the wake of their orgasms.
(Y/n) tangled her fingers in his hair and pulled him into a sloppy kiss.
Once they parted, he stood straight and took off his jeans, standing completely bare in front of (Y/n).
She was slightly confused until he lifted her off the couch and took her to his bedroom. He carefully laid her down before flopping onto the bed beside her.
(Y/n) let out a tired giggle, looking Ukai over as he still struggled to catch his breath.
“I think I have a cramp in my leg...” he groaned.
“Want me to rub it out?” (Y/n) teased, reaching towards him and brushing a strand of hair out of his face.
He slowly shook his head before taking her hand and kissing the tip of her middle finger. “Anymore friction from you and my soul will ascend into heaven.”
(Y/n) sighed softly, relaxing into the mattress and closing her eyes. “I shouldn’t stay... I have my job interview tomorrow.”
Ukai moved closer to her, pressing a soft kiss to her temple. “I have to open the shop up early tomorrow. I’ll wake you up so you have time to go to your hotel and make sure you’re ready... okay?”
(Y/n) slowly nodded, leaning up and kissing him once more.
“I guess this means we still feel something, huh?” Ukai asked, pulling the covers over their bodies.
“I guess so...” (Y/n) smiled, gently hugging his waist. “Maybe you can take me on a proper date tomorrow night... then it can be official.”
He chuckled softly, the need to sleep overcoming his need to say something clever. “Goodnight, (Y/n)...”
“Goodnight, Kei...”
------------------------------------------------------------------------
The next day went by like a breeze for Ukai. He got one last kiss from (Y/n) when she left that morning, along with her new phone number. She didn’t even ask for her panties back.
Ukai wore a hoodie that easily covered the bite mark (Y/n) left him, meaning he wouldn’t have to deal with stupid questions from the boys at Karasuno.
Speaking of the boys, they were responding well to the new drills he and Takeda drew up. They were already showing improvement with their spikes and their serves. It was a perfect day.
Ukai was in the process of taking a swig of water when he heard the gym doors open, followed by a “HEADS UP!” from Noya.
The sound of a volleyball smacking against someone’s arm’s made the gym go silent. Hinata caught the stray ball, looking helplessly at Ukai.
The coach turned to see who had entered and blocked the ball.
He snorted, keeled over, and spat up the water he had been drinking onto the gym floor.
Takeda began slapping his back to help clear his airway as the school’s principal thanked (Y/n) profusely.
Ukai figured she had sidestepped in front of the principal and blocked the ball from smacking him right in the family jewels. She never joined Karasuno’s girl’s team, but she had helped Ukai practice enough to know how to receive a ball.
The principal cleared his throat, regained his composure, and led (Y/n) towards the coaches.
Ukai stood up straight, still struggling to breath as he looked her over. She was wearing a button-up shirt, a pencil skirt and heels. She was like an image out of a sexy librarian fantasy... only this was the real world. This was really happening.
“Coach Ukai, Coach Takeda, I would like to introduce your new athletic trainer!” the principal announced, beaming as Takeda and (Y/n) bowed to one another.
“It’s wonderful to meet-”
“What are you doing here?” Ukai coughed, interrupting Takeda.
(Y/n) smiled bashfully, giving him a small shrug of her shoulders. “I told you at dinner I didn’t want to say more about the job... I coulda jinxed it...”
“Ohhh!” the principal exclaimed, “I don’t know how I didn’t realize you two were classmates! What a wonderful reunion!”
“I did tell you we needed a trainer to come in and help before nationals...” Takeda murmured, nervously shifting where he stood.
“Well, I’ll leave you to it. Her first official day is tomorrow.” The principal left with that, Ukai realizing how silent the gym was as his footsteps got further and further away.
“H-Hey! What are you doing?! Get back to your drills!” he shouted at the team.
The boys got their asses back in gear, stealing glances at the coaches and their new trainer every now and then.
“I’m going to... go... over there...” Takeda stuttered. He quickly bowed to (Y/n) before running to the opposite side of the court.
“Are you really that upset?” (Y/n) frowned.
Ukai sighed softly rubbing at his temples. “No... I just really wish you told me...”
“Well... I didn’t exactly plan on last night-” (Y/n) paused when she noticed one of the boys, Hinata, slowly sidestepping closer to them to listen in on what was happening.
“Get back to spiking or you’ll be on towel duty for a month.” Ukai grumbled.
Hinata squeaked before running back onto the court.
“I didn’t plan on last night to go the way it did. I thought we’d get dinner, go our separate ways, then surprise! I’m here and we get to live out some slowburn fantasy where we fall for each other again.” (Y/n) explained, keeping her voice low.
Ukai sighed, closing his eyes and pinching the bridge of his nose.
He felt (Y/n) slowly place her hand on his arm, wandering until she took his hand in hers. “Please just give me a chance? I want to help you get them to nationals...”
He slowly opens his eyes, groaning at the way she batted her eyes at him.
“Fine.”
(Y/n) smiled wide and hugged him tightly, snickering when he completely flushed red. “This is gonna be so much fun... now introduce me to the team.”
Once their current drill was complete, Ukai called the team over, noting the way the boys eyed (Y/n) with a mix of curiosity and confusion.
“Alright, this is (Y/n). She’s an old friend and she’s going to be our new athletic trainer. She’s gonna do everything in her power to whip you into shape for nationals. So do as she says and we won’t have any issues.”
A couple of the boys raised their hands high.
“Wow, there are questions about that... Tanaka.” Ukai pointed at the redhead.
“Is she your girlfriend?” he asked, no hesitation or shame in his words.
Ukai tensed. (Y/n) snickered.
“N-Not relevant!”
“Is she our Coach Mom now?” Noya piped up.
“No!”
“So you're not our Coach Dad?” Noya asked.
“Of course not!”
“I have a question not having to do with Coach Mom at all!” Hinata shouted.
Ukai breathed a sigh of relief. “Thank god. What’s your question?”
“What’s on your neck?”
Ukai went completely red again as (Y/n) tried to stifle her laughter.
“Is that from Coach Mom?” Noya shrieked, grabbing Asahi’s arms and shaking him wildly. “That’s from Coach Mom!”
“It totally is from Coach Mom...” Suga mumbled.
“Don’t encourage them.” Daichi said, nudging Suga.
“THE NEXT PERSON TO CALL (Y/n) COACH MOM HAS TO RUN 50 LAPS!” Ukai yelled, finally silencing the boys.
“L-lets just get back to our drills!” Takeda shouted, ushering the boys back onto the court.
“I just wanted to know what was on his neck...” Hinata pouted, “Did Coach Mom really do that-”
“50 laps Hinata!”
“Awwww! Do I have to, Coach Mom?!”
“100 LAPS!”
“No!” (Y/n) barked, lightly pushing Ukai before turning to Hinata. “That’s absurd, you don’t have to.”
Ukai adjusted his hoodie, glancing at (Y/n) as she crossed her arms. “You’d think you’d be a little less tense after last night-”
“Please just go home.” Ukai sighed, taking the keys to his flat from his pocket and placing them in her hand.
She blinked down at the keys in shock.
“I don’t want you in some hotel room when I have a perfectly good bed at my place... I’ll help you get your things from the hotel once practice is over...” He explained, scratching at the back of his head while keeping his eyes on the team.
“Guess you are my boyfriend then...” (Y/n) smiled. She quickly pressed a kiss to Ukai’s cheek before turning on her heels to leave. “See you at home, Coach Dad...”
Ukai turned to watch her leave, a small smile on his face. It wasn’t such a bad nickname when she said it...

⇺ ⁂⁂⁂⁂⁂⁂⁂⁂⁂⁂⁂⁂⁂⁂⁂⁂⁂⁂⁂⁂⁂⁂⁂⁂ ⇻
↣ Masterpost
↣ inspired by @haik-choo’s post
↣ wc: 1.7k
↣ warnings: some self inflicted pain (nothing major!), cheating mentions, serious heartbreak.
↣  song recommendation:  tolerate it - taylor swift
↣  preamble (as written by haik-choo):  akaashi keiji doesn’t get that not everyone can understand how someone feels with one look. he puts an extra sugar in his coffee and expects you to know that he wants to go out to a bakery, he clicks his red pens a few extra times and expects you to know that he needs refills – he says he has a lot of work tonight and expects you to make him midnight snacks. to him, that stuff is easy. why can’t you understand him? he does it for you – he shouldn’t have to say it out loud. you should already know what he’s thinking. if you don’t, maybe you don’t love him as much as he thought you did.
The complexity of love has never been accurately represented in the media. Films present reality through the lens of a fractured mirror to provide viewers a sense of emotion they cannot find elsewhere. Fairy tales are perhaps the worst form of media to exist. They are created to be consumed by young impressionable children who develop unrealistic expectations that are later thrust upon the unfortunate souls that become their partners. You were one of those children who bought the falsities sold to you. Love was something magical, the intertwining of two hearts.
You were sixteen when you fell in love for the first time. Enthralled by how one emotion could paint new colours in the horizons, you allowed yourself to fall… it was perfect, until you found yourself crying on the bathroom floor, wondering why the fairy tales lied to you.
You were seventeen when you first experienced heart break. Even now, you can remember the shame that drenched your soul when you learned that the one you loved, had slept with someone else. Each inch of your skin was tainted by your “prince charming.”
That night, your mother had to drag you out of the bath. The pads of your toes and fingers had shriveled up, while your arms and legs burned a bright crimson from the incessant scrubbing. Yet the tingling of your skin was merely a scratch in comparison to the laceration inside of your heart, and there was no band aid that you could apply there.
That was December 3rd 2014 – the date you abandoned your foolish ideals.
You met Akaashi Keiji exactly six months later.
Tumblr media
If you were ever asked to describe the mystery that is Keiji, where would you begin? Were there truly any words that could accurately capture the very essence of his kind soul? Or the depth of this mesmerizing eyes? How would you possibly begin to explain how a single caress by his calloused fingertips had melted away the imaginary grime that had coated your skin? If anyone was prince charming, it was him.
But little did you know that sometimes he doubted whether you were his Cinderella. His happily ever after…
The first indication of his veiled concerns occurred in your last year of high school. With the departure of his third-year friends, Akaashi was titled captain of the boy’s volleyball team. While he enjoyed volleyball, he was never obsessed with the sport like his best friend. Volleyball was his hobby, nothing more and nothing less. He was more concerned with maintaining his high academic record than securing a ticket to nationals. Last year balancing the various fragments of his life was simple. But the absence of his friends weighed on him, each day the anxiety increased until he could barely sit without jitters swarming his limbs. As his girlfriend, you should have known the stress he was battling… Sure, he was pushing you away, but you should have known why.
Yet, when you attempted to thwart his efforts to establish distance, you were chastised for your lack of understanding.
“Y/n. I am busy. Please do not disturb me during practice.” Not the slightest bit of respect was allocated to you, despite your status as his girlfriend. And while his pointed response was undoubtedly directed towards to you, his attention was on the practice commencing inside of the gym. “Listen, I need to go back. If you want to talk, consider picking a more appropriate time in the future.” Rolling the towel within his grasp, he refused to acknowledge you beyond sharing these words.
“I’m sorry. It won’t happen again.” To even utter an apology stole the limited resolve you had to address the situation. How much did you have to degrade yourself to fix a relationship he evidently did not want?
But the following day at lunch period, a dozen roses were delivered to you with an apology note attached to the stems. It was only natural for you to grant him the forgiveness he sought. Dismissing his actions was simple once you rationalized it as a normal reaction to an abundance of pressure. Diamonds may be created under pressure, but he was no diamond, and neither were you.
Tumblr media
The second indication of his concealed doubts did not emerge from a set of actions, nor did it include the exchange of harsh words. Rather, it was his silence that nurtured your insecurities and provided you confirmation that while he was your happily-ever-after, you may not be his.
To celebrate Keiji’s 19th birthday, his mother had offered to host a gathering at his childhood home. When the details of the party were conveyed to you, excitement had fluttered to life inside of your stomach. It was the perfect opportunity to develop your relationship with the woman who had raised your wonderful boyfriend. Yet, not even the purest of intentions would save you from the humiliation that awaited you that night.
At one point of the evening, Keiji had vanished for a considerable amount of time. Naturally, you searched the house for your boyfriend. When you peaked inside of the kitchen, you found him engaging in a conversation with his mother. You almost called out to him instinctively, except your vocal cords denied you access when you caught the end of their conversation.
“Has she been tending to your needs yet? Or has she remained as useless as before?” The older woman clutched the stem of her wine glass, with a scoff clawing at her throat. It seemed that the liquor coating her tongue had turned the muscular organ into a knife.
Keiji stood with his back pressed against the kitchen island, listening without a reaction. The nonchalance emanating from his demeanour indicated that this was not the first occurrence. No, this had happened before, otherwise he would have had some form of a reaction. A flinch – a twitch – anything. But he stood still, emotionless, distant. The targeting comments were equivalent to a whisper in the wind – not deserving of a response, nor a stir.
“Keiji, you are aware that you are wasting your time and yet you stay with her?” The sigh falling from her stained lips was extended to emphasize her distress, and the gentle sound was enough to weaken your knees.
No longer able to support your own weight, you leaned against the wall, allowing your eyelids to flutter shut. Your fingers tangled with the fabric of your shirt as you waited for his response.
Say something – anything. Just tell her she’s wrong.
Yet the denial never came.
Tumblr media
The first two indications were shoved aside, dismissed with excuses that would serve as a band-aid on your decaying relationship. But then came the third.
The third indication of his doubt occurred on an average college night when you were in the process of selecting your outfit for the night. Bokuto had arranged an unofficial Fukurodani reunion for the boy’s volleyball team. As Keiji’s girlfriend, the invite was naturally extended to you. Usually your boyfriend would be in higher spirits knowing that he would soon be in the company of his high school friends. But tonight, a frown remained etched into his features, not wavering for even a single moment.
“Which one? I don’t want to be underdressed. But on the other hand, Kou is always dressed really weird. So, I don’t know.” Two outfits were presented towards the male, a scarlet cocktail dress and a navy pantsuit with a low cut.
“Does it matter, y/n?” The sharp remark was blown out with a heavy sigh. It was as though he could not muster the energy to care for your feelings. Or perhaps, he simply chose to display his inner conflict, with no concern of the consequences of his decision.
The noise was startling enough to strip you of the excitement that once animated your movements.
“I guess not, but is it wrong that I want to look good for my boyfriend?” The counter question was voiced barely above a whisper, with each word sounding fainter than the last.
“Maybe if you knew me well enough you wouldn’t have to ask.” His eyes did not meet yours, rather they stayed fixed on the writing utensil within his grasp. “It’s not that hard, y/n. You just don’t care enough to put in the effort.”
The verbal assaults implanted daggers into your chest, but the pain would only become worse – since he was not done just yet.
“If you refuse to love me with your entire heart, what is the point? Let me go.”
“Keiji!” Pain cut along the inside of your throat from the shriek erupting from your chest. Had you ever screamed his name in quite a harsh manner? Liquid blurred your vision, and with your air-filled organs wheezing in distress, your words were stated between staggered breaths.
“I am not a fucking mind reader.” The fog of desperation encompassing you was comprised of poison, one that soon threaded throughout your system. The properties of the poison enflamed your lungs, burning the organs and halting the flow of air. Instinctively your hands were sent to your skin, clawing at the flesh as if you could simply rip out the emotions suffocating you. “Just because I don’t love you the way you think I should, doesn’t mean I don’t.” Whether the words spilling from your lips were responsible for the bitter taste in your mouth, or the tears now gracefully parading down your cheeks was unknown. Either way, the release of the steaming liquid eased the burning sensation in your lungs.
“I’m done, Keiji. I’m done.” Slowly claiming your insides was a thin layer of ice. By now, you had run out of excuses for his behaviour. There were no longer any band-aids you could use to tend to the wounds. The question of whether your boyfriend considered you “the one” was answered.
Despite the ache weaving into your muscles, your feet dragged you to the front door. A piece of you desired to catch one final glimpse of him – as your heart knew this would be the final time you would see him. But afraid you would lose your resolve to leave, you pressed the car keys against your palm, and remained fixed on the exit.
Behind you, the brunette voiced a weak apology – you were unable to catch the exact words, as they were muffled by the fabric of his sleeves. But not even the sweetest words could remedy the situation. Since, now you had accepted the truth.
Love was never a fairy-tale, and Akaashi Keiji was not a prince. Love would never be what you wanted it to be, and it would always hurt.
Love would always hurt.

Haikyuu!! Road Trip AU
read it on the AO3 at https://ift.tt/37dpHFS
by kozumekal, sakusasparkles
HEY HEY HEY WELCOME TO ROAD TRIP AU!!!
In this AU, the characters are all in their early 20s. Some of them have jobs, some go to college (our cleverly named Haik University lol), and many still play volleyball, but everyone is trying to figure out their next steps in life! And what better way to do that than to hit the road with all your friends and drive across the country during your (conspicuously long) spring break?
All the characters start out in Miami, Florida, where Haik U is located. Their destination is National Music Festival, held in Seattle, Washington. Different cars will take different routes across the country to get there, but even though they may all start out in separate cars, don't worry, there's sure to be lots of run-ins along the way!!
This social media AU is inspired by the post-time skip era in the manga, but is NOT canon compliant. There will be allusions to (and jokes referencing) the time skip era, but no true spoilers, and you'll still be able to get everything even if you haven't read the manga.

“Troupe” (2018, i.s.m. de gemeente Sint-Katelijne-Waver)

ARS Continues Humanitarian Assistance to Armenians in Lebanon
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Since October 2019, as a result of the economic and political crisis in Lebanon, the daily deterioration of conditions have created a precarious reality for hygiene and social services. Furthermore, the devaluation of the Lebanese currency now places the Lebanese citizen in a darkening environment of insecurity. At the same time, the August 4 explosion at the Beirut port has left hundreds of families in need of assistance.
The Armenian Relief Society, from the very start of the Lebanese crisis, brought its steady assistance, helping the distressed local Armenian community. Its humanitarian programs in Lebanon, started in 2019, are still being implemented, at a faster pace, thanks to the substantial donations of ARS supporters and the tireless efforts of ARS Entities. The Armenian Relief Cross of Lebanon (ARCL), coordinating activities with the ARS Central Executive Board, has spared no effort to extend a helping hand to Armenians in Lebanon, to a community known as the heartbeat of the Armenian Diaspora.
Initially, $8,000 worth of food baskets were distributed by ARCL to 100 needy families and 200 hot meals were provided to the needy on a weekly basis. Over the following months, because of the pandemic and the horrendous August 4, explosion, the ARCL expanded its hot meal program by providing 1600 portions per week. Over the last 12 months, $224,426 has been allotted to this project.
Naturally, due to the inflation, daily needs of necessary items have become more pressing. After the explosion, the spread of Corona virus was inevitable, while the need for items of hygiene, sanitizers and cleaning supplies increasingly grew.  These items were secured and distributed to 3000 families, at the cost of $28,522, while over the winter months, $11,000 worth of blankets were distributed to families in need.
With the ARS Central Executive Board’s initiative, daily need items and medication were sent in three consecutive stages, fulfilling the needs of patients being treated at ARCL’s Araxie Boulghourdjian socio-medical center.  Three hundred infants received milk and diapers, while 310 senior citizens were given other daily necessity items. From March, 2020 to February, 2021, $126,985 was allotted to provide 3,151 individuals with medication, socio-medical treatments, hospitalization, and laboratory analysis, as needed.
ARS Lebanon is also part of GAMK (Overseeing Unpredictable Conditions), a body formed following the August 4th explosion, to assist Armenians affected by it. In coordination with GAMK, ARCL’s Araxie Boulghourdjian socio-medical center has performed 2,978 Corona virus infection tests at the cost of $27,917. Over the new year, in cooperation with GAMK, 5,200 food baskets were prepared and distributed among Armenian families. ARCL’s financial participation in this project was $90,000. Members of the ARCL are visiting families afflicted by the Beirut explosion. After assessing their needs, to date, the ARS has contributed $33,000 to assist in securing their daily livelihood or supply basic furnishings and home supplies.
Considering, that as a consequence of the present situation in Lebanon, many Armenian families’ incomes have diminished, or often totally ceased to exist, as well as having high appreciation for the Melankton and Haik Arslanian College’s role in the realm of Armenian Education, the ARS Central Executive Board, donated $25,000 to M. and H. Arslanian College’s ARS Norsikian Kindergarten.
The need for effective assistance to the Armenian Community of Lebanon is more than obvious, to all.  The Lebanese-Armenians face dire existential issues today.  We are more than grateful to all ARS donors, supporters and Entities, whose considerable continuous input allows us to implement our humanitarian programs in these difficult times of economic and political uncertainty and amid the pandemic. We are grateful for the trust and support of one of the most involved and productive Armenian communities in the Diaspora.
Support ARS projects in Lebanon by donating.
ARS is an independent, non-governmental and non-sectarian organization serving the humanitarian needs of the Armenian people and preserving the cultural identity.  It mobilizes communities to advance. For 111 years it has pioneered solutions to address the challenges that impact our society. Through its vast network of dedicated volunteers in over 27 regions, the ARS is on the front lines of leading our communities towards our collective goals. It plays an active role in providing resources and opportunities to the masses. As an international, humanitarian, Non-Governmental Organization, the ARS advocates for human rights, social justice, self-determination, and civil society in the halls of the international arena as a member of the UN.

#KurooStealsPants2K20
#KurooStealsPants2K20 by kuidore
Part 1 of #KurooStealsPants2k20 series
Haikyuu!!
Length: 88,998 (complete)
Rating: Teen & Up Audiences
Pairing: Bokuto/Kuroo; Side-pairing: Akaashi/Kenma
Author Summary:
Kuroo was a good person. He was a good person, and he didn't deserve this.
He could almost hear Kenma’s disbelieving scoff, and he resisted the urge to mentally tell his best friend to shut his damn mouth (as if it would actually do anything). He didn’t need imaginary Kenma’s judgment at the moment. He’d deal with enough of that from real Kenma later.
"I need to borrow your pants."
AKA Kuroo needs pants for a lab, Bokuto has the best (or worst) timing, and Kuroo can't catch a fucking break.

You walked around the campus courtyard, hugging your folder of info to your chest as you did. You looked good today, and you knew it. Your orientation group leader gave you all about 45 minutes to explore the large campus square, get lunch and just generally look around. You considered yourself lucky, the numerous restaurants of all different styles that surrounded the main courtyard made that 75% student discount for all restaurants on campus, seem even more enticing. You tried to decide where you were going to go before you caught a glimpse of a boy across the courtyard.
He watched you, shamelessly checking you out. As his eyes met yours you felt yourself, your normally calm and collected heart beating double the speed it did before. The stranger pushed off the building he was leaning on, a cocky smile on his face as he made his way over to you.
You wondered if it was too late to pretend you didn't see him-
it was.
"So I see someone was checking me out" he said, a sly tone in his voice as he stood right in front of you, dark hair covering part of his face as his tall muscled frame stood in front of you-
he was all you could see.
That's how it all began, how you met him, notorious campus pervert Kuroo and you responding back in a somewhat sassy "Not like you weren't staring me down first" only seemed to push the situation you were in now.
Your hands pressed against the wall, chest against the cold tile of the bathroom wall as, who you knew know to be Kuroo's, hand gripping your thigh as he held it up, cock slipping into you as he did. His hands pushed back your skirt as he grinned, hand moving to the flesh of your ass, grabbing himself a handful before sending a hard slap to it.
You whined, feeling the head of his thick long cock pushing into you, feeling yourself begin to stretch around his size as you whimpered out. You thought your legs might give out if he wasn't holding you, and even though he was holding your leg up to give him a bit more room- it was still a tight fit.
You choked, unable to hold back the whimpers as you turned your head back slightly, a broken plea slipping from your lips.
"T-too big-" you groaned, body shaking as he pushed further. "W-wait-"
"Can't stop now baby- you feel soo good" he said, his voice low as he sent another smack to your ass, his hand moving to your waist as he pulled you further onto him-
"I'm not gonna hurt you baby, just let me in-" he said, his head moving right next to yours as both his hands came to your west, gently setting your leg down.
"You're shaking too much- already close just from me stuffing you like this?" he asked, a sly smirk on his face as you threw your head back, moaning as he sank his hard cock deeper into you.
"You did this, dressing like you did, you just had to be such a sexy little freshmen on your first day huh? You wanted someone to stare at that sexy body of yours?" he teased, beginning to rock his hips into yours as his hands moved from your waist to your tits, rubbing your nipples in between his fingers.
You gasped, head dropping down as you let out another moan, feeling your body rock back and froth from his hard cock.
"You wanted someone to take you huh? Make you feel good like this huh?" he teased, one of his hands leaving your tits before coming back to your ass, another hard slap stinging against your skin as you cried out in a mix of pleasure and good pain.
Kuroo picked up his pace, unable to keep himself together, you looked so good, so cute-
perfect for him to spoil just how he liked.
The sounds of skin slapping skin filled the room as you felt his heavy balls slap against your clit as he pounded hard into you. Your mouth dropped open in pleasure as you felt your walls clench around him.
He grunted, a slight moan escaping him as he pulled you back harder onto him. "Fuck baby, treating me so good like this yeah- 'm making your pussy h-mm- happy huh?' he said, his voice a bit choked himself as he gripped your sides.
"Come on then, reward me for fucking you so good."
"Cum on this cock baby."

Got any headcanons for Mai?
A (realistic): Mai has HELLA toned arms from volleyball, like there isnt anyone in school who isnt half in love with her and her buff af arms of glory. Also she fucking loves the anime Haik//yuu!!, her top faves are probably Daichi, Noya, and Kuroo.
B (hilarity): Mai actually was choosing between Asagao and clown college to go to school, deciding to put her childhood dream of clowndom to rest because she got a strong instinctual feeling that her life at Asagao would be way better. She still greatly enjoys pies to the face and creates her clown persona in her head when she has nothing else to do.
C (heart-crushing): Mai has always felt incredibly alone because of her falling out with Mimi and her parents practically treating her like an inconvenience, so the way that Hana and Mai attach themselves to each other is doubly fucking sad because they’ve both had it so incredibly rough. That’s what makes it all the worse when they fight, because Mai can’t take someone leaving her like they always do.
D (not canon): Mai has a incredible love for boxing and has actually won a belt or two for a few junior boxing tournaments that she’s competed in. They call her the “Hay-Mai-ker” and its her signature move. She adores every aspect of the sport and dreams of making a boxing club at Asagao.

Language Aptitude
Defining language aptitude
Language-learning aptitude is often thought of as what is assessed by language aptitude tests (more about these below). For the most part, these tests address such cognitive abilities as making correspondences between sound and symbol, auditory discrimination (between sounds), native-language vocabulary, memorization, and linguistic analysis, especially inferring grammatical patterns from information provided on the test. There is increasing understanding, however, that current forms of tested language aptitude are only part of the picture when predicting learning success in foreign-language learning.
However, there appears to be more to effective language learning than the factors that are tested by aptitude instruments. Some of these non-tested factors are related to personality, learning style, and emotional factors, which are treated in subsequent chapters in this volume. These are not traditionally considered aptitude factors at all, yet they have much to do with language-learning success. Among these, tolerance of ambiguity (especially comforting in situations where you cannot understand everything) is a major element in language learning both inside and outside the classroom. For example, in a situation that demands rapid comprehension and response, even a learner who does very well on an aptitude test might freeze or panic at the first new words, missing everything that is said thereafter. With a greater tolerance of ambiguity, that learner would be more likely to keep listening until more information comes in and permits a good guess at the likely meaning. Similarly, a learner who tolerates ambiguity would be more likely to try out a response even knowing that it might not be exact.
There is consensus among some experts (Ehrman, 1998, Sternberg, 2003, Robinson, 2002) that more investigation is needed of variables representing a broader definition of language aptitude. In addition to tolerance of ambiguity, they could include such factors as previous learning history, motivation, and learning style. They recommend that these be investigated to supplement traditional tests and especially for use in counseling and advising students on how to make the most of their strengths and work around their less strong points as learners.
For the purposes of this book, the most general definition, which takes into account all the current and potential uses of language-learning aptitude, is that it consists of relatively stable factors within an individual that promote successful language learning.
● Language aptitude testing
The best-known test for language aptitude is the Modern Language Aptitude Test (MLAT, Carroll and Sapon, 1959); it is used in universities and in the government for a variety of purposes, including selection for classes. Other aptitude tests that you might encounter include the Defense Language Aptitude Battery (Peterson and Al-Haik, 1976), the VORD (Parry and Child, 1989), the Pimsleur Language Aptitude Battery (Pimsleur, 1966), a language aptitude test prepared some years ago by the Modern Language Association, five language aptitude tests produced by the collaboration of the University of Wales at Swansea and Leonardo da Vinci Programme of the European Commission in Brussels (Meara, Milton, and Lorenzo-Dus, 2000), and the Oxford Language Test, which was prepared by the colleges of Oxford University and is available online at www.sun.rhbnc.ac.uk/Classics/ cucd/test.html. You should be able to find infor- mation about these tests online and/or in your university library.
Aptitude tests provide valuable information about learner ability to cope with language learning, especially in classrooms. Aptitude tests can provide consider- able data about an individual’s learning skills and learning styles. The MLAT, for example, evaluates skills and abilities related to auditory memory, making infer- ences, focusing on what is most important, cognitive restructuring of information, sensitivity to grammatical structure, and effective rote learning. This information has proved very useful in helping learners (Ehrman, 2000).
● Language aptitude and you
In looking at your language-learning ability, think about all of your assets, not just the ones that show up on aptitude and classroom tests. Do you think fast on your feet? Are you good at making others understand what you want to say, even if it is not completely grammatically accurate? Do you listen well? Are you confident in your ability to solve problems, practical as well as academic?
If you have a low tested aptitude and no previous language-learning experience to indicate that the test score is not indicative of your ability, you may need to work closely with your teacher or other guide. Together, you can put your learning into a format that takes advantage of your strengths and compensates for your weaknesses (or builds the lacking skills) – what these are, in particular, will depend on your learning style and your study skills in general. Your teacher should be able to analyze your answers on whatever aptitude test you have taken and determine the areas in which you will need help. Language learning is not an arcane science, but it does take thinking, work, and planning.
The important thing to remember is that a language aptitude score is not an infallible diagnosis of whether or not you can or should learn a foreign language. Look at the skills required to do well on an aptitude test: holding sounds in short-term memory, comparing sounds and letters, understanding how grammar works, understanding how words are formed, and the like. All these things can be learned. Almost invariably, someone who has studied four to five languages does well on aptitude tests. Why? Because they have acquired these skills while learning the various languages. Not having these skills can hold you back, so finding out which of the skills you lack and developing that skill will go a long way not just to increasing your aptitude score but also and more important to improving your classroom and out-of-class performance. Many of the topics in this book are aimed at helping you do just this.

- Blue Suede Shoes by Elvis Presley [►]
THEIR SOCIAL MEDIA PROFILES SAY...
The place they used to call home was Kokaua Town, Kauai, Hawaii, though they now live in Pico, Santa Monica, California. It states that they’re currently a sophomore attending Santa Monica College and radio board operator working at 99.9 KRRW - if you want to creep on them. Apparently, Adrian Cronauer from Good Morning, Vietnam is their “character inspiration.” Huh. Wonder what that means.
THIS IS WHAT THE TOWN KNOWS...
Born as Leilani, the name held scars from abandonment by a woman who was unable to take care of them. Luckily, they were taken in by Lilo, who had only recently found out she was infertile. Raised in a home that encouraged freedom of expression and open-mindedness especially after her mom married Keoni Jameson, the only caveats were that they maintained good grades and looked to becoming something “successful” outside their hobbies and passions – neither of which they were able to manage by the end of their high school career. After dropping out in the middle of their first college semester amidst the stress of changing sexes and not knowing where they fully belonged in every sense of the word, they decided to leave home and ended up moving across the ocean in hopes of clearing their head; figure out their life without the influence of the constant pressure to pursue a financially stable career. One of their first decisions was to legally change their name to suit their ambiguous gender identity post-transition, including a new middle name that took after their first dance teacher. Over the last few years, they have really blossomed into themselves, finding a home in the vibrant music scene of Los Angeles, and have established a name for themselves with the help of their live music segment on Rumor Radio and through YouTube videos. Their stage name is based off their favorite deity which helps remind them of the shared bond between their Filipino blood and Hawaiian surfer roots.
SOME PEOPLE HAVE NOTED THAT...
They’re adaptable, intuitive, understanding yet inauthentic, pessimistic, stubborn. That’s what I’ve heard anyway. It seems like they’re really into being up late at night watching movies and shows if not lazily strumming their guitar or writing, going camping to stargaze (and look for aliens) outside the city, people-watching at Santa Monica Pier. But be careful! They doesn’t really appreciate being stuck somewhere crowded without knowing at least one person, spending more than a few hours listening to playlists and scripts for the radio station, waking up early in the morning.
THEY’RE TYPICALLY ASSOCIATED WITH...
Have you heard of JENNY EDMONDS? I think she’s their ROOMMATE AND UNREQUITED CRUSH, and that she’s always been there for them since they were hula classmates as children, a stark contrast to how their mothers treated each other at their age. While Jenny always had her life figured out though, knowing how to steer the other around and made sure to keep them from having their head in the clouds all the time, Alex was their chaotic equal that knew just the thing to help her relax, there to remind her to come out of her room and have fun. If they were to be truthful, they’ve been pining on and off since the two were little, but have kept it to themselves because of their personal baggage. She’s currently letting them stay on the couch of her small townhouse on the condition that they can pay for utilities and help out with her graduate studies now and then.
Have you heard of DANI KAWENA? I think he’s their COUSIN, and that he’s the catalyst that helped Alex move away from their childhood home after having to be in the background of their struggles all these years. Either way, he had planned to leave Hawaii to try his hand in running a business, and now runs one of the most successful surfer shops along Santa Monica Pier. Though Dani knows they have a full plate between their classes and an intense job that forces them to travel around as well as constantly consume music, he loves to help out by providing a space where they can voluntarily work anytime doing something familiar like maintaining scuba gear and waxing boards. Anyway, it doesn’t hurt to have extra hands on deck.
