So more from my Polyphemus research, there's an opera with him and Galatea, and he even gets a song where he sings his love for her.
This version's my favorite
youtube
So now I have the headcanon that Polyphemus has a really good singing voice but he's embarrassed about it, especially when he's singing about his girlfriend.

Look I understand everyone talking about how attractive the gods are in hades but the lack of "please step on me" comments about this guy is shocking.

Guys, Hecuba took down Polyphemus all by herself.
Give her some treats and pets. Such a good girl.

I HATE YOU
I HATE YOU BECAUSE YOUR AU IS STUCK IN MY HEAD >:(
I CAN'T GET OVER YOUR INCREDIBLE CONCEPT OF SWAPPING GODS WITH MORTALS
I'M SO ANGRY AT YOU FOR MAKING SMTH SO GOOD >:(
(/affectionately ofc)
(thank you ❤️) *blinks innocently* actually this was so random, but since you guys liked it, have some more
Tumblr media
For now there are only the main 6, I didn't really plan to include their children because it's too much thinking and we don't do that in this household (・∀・)" As for the others, have a look :3 ⬇️
Tumblr media
So, they all escaped from Cronos and destroyed his home, stealing a middle sized boat to sail away... with zero knowledge on navigation. Absolutely genius. The only thing that saved them was was god!Odysseus' favor, who directed the boat to land
Ah also they fled too fast to know whether Cronos actually died in the fire or not, so they're kinda in a haste to get as far away as possible
Now we have a group of lads and gals, who hardly ever lived in the outside world, trying to survive. What could go wrong? Everything. Buddies don't even know how to hunt. Heck they don't even know how to communicate properly (remember Telemachus' stabbing incident)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
AND YEAH POLYPHEMUS ⬇️
Tumblr media
I kinda thought if this is reverse, then it has to be reverse for everyone... So Polyphemus here is just a bit of an unfortunate child who eventually grows into a total MENACE (c'mon Poseidon raised him)

✨ Ody and Penelope just looking at the 6 bring chaos wherever they go and considering what to do with them

I gotta level with you guys —
I am seriously pumped about the full release of Hades II
so I’ve been scribbling around
but the truth is I’m here for Polyphemus 🙂‍↕️
Also bonus doodle of one of my TWO oc’s, Galatea! Trying to figure out the way to incorporate the other nymph elements into her design

So I ended up falling for Polyphemus in Hades 2. (He sounds just like Ignarius! I have a type, OK!!)
I did a Greek myth deep dive and found some interesting facts about him, like how he has a crush on a sea nymph named Galatea. And I thought, wouldn't it be a funny idea if they were actually secretly dating.
But THEN I found there's some versions where they DO get together and that just added even more fuel on the shipping fire.
I've already been working on a oneshot fic of these two and it'sa gonna be a spicy one~

GOES FERAL GOES FERAL
Why, you ask?
POLYPHEMUS HAS MATI CHARMS ALL OVER HIM!!!
Tumblr media
Mati charms are used in Greece to protect from the evil eye, which is a curse that is cast by greed and envy. It also protects against general harm, being hung above babies’ cribs to keep them safe from curses, since children are more susceptible.
Why does Polyphemus have them?
I think it was given to him by Poseidon! After all, Polyphemus is his son, and he’s already been grievously harmed before. Notice that an actual mati charm is placed directly over where his eye used to be? I don’t think that’s a coincidence.
Poseidon is far from perfect in mythology, but he was always protective of Polyphemus. It makes sense he would want to keep his son away from further harm, especially when he can’t see threats anymore. Keeping Polyphemus safe from the evil eye is just one extra way to make sure he’s okay in the future.
GODDD I LOVE SUPERGIANT CHARACTER DESIGNS. FUCK. THEYRE SO WELL RESEARCHED AND INTENTIONAL AND GODDDD OUUHHHHG

Asterius in Hades: affable sympathetic character, pretty nice guy, adaptational sympathy, making his backstory of being imprisoned and then killed more tragic than a glorious tale about a hero vanquishing a monster Polyphemus in Hades II: Nah everything bad you heard about this guy is onehundred percent accurate
