H50 Secret Santa

This is my Secret Santa gift to @cowandcalf

A little bird told me what you wanted as a gift: “love love love ;) & art with the two in love or great lyric. I love SEAL Steve”.

Steve was called to the reserves. Two weeks ago. He has been away (who knows where), doing exercises (he already has a six-pack but anyway…) and probably going on super dangerous secret missions without backup (better not to think about it). He hasn’t been able to call a lot (it sounds like a lousy excuse. Everybody knows the ARMY has an excellent and reliable communications network, thank you very much).

Danny has been in command of the H50, working hard with Chin and Kono to successfully solve 237 cases in 15 days (OMG! Hawaii is too much!). All has been completed in a competent and tasteful manner, professionally executed. No big explosions (just one or two; medium size), no bazookas (no, that thing wasn’t a bazooka; it was a portable flamethrower), no grenades (ok, Steve left another one in the Camaro’s driver side door pocket but that doesn’t count). All the paperwork is done and sent. On time! Danny is amazing and also very very tired right now. Exhausted. After a long 360-hours shift he just can drive himself home, go upstairs and take his clothes off (with the exception of his pineapple infested boxers, Grace’s gift for father’s day. Of course he loves the boxers very much. They are wonderful, perfect). Danny falls asleep in his bed (their bed) exactly in two and a half seconds.

Danny swears he will never wake up. But maybe he will because a certain navy seal in the reserves suddenly decides to come back home, his home (their home) in the middle of the night. He goes upstairs and takes his clothes off (with the exception of his camo boxers, Grace’s gift for father’s day. Of course he loves the boxers very much. They are wonderful, perfect). Steve gets into his bed (their bed) quietly.

I hope you like the gift! I mean the drawing; my writing skills are poor, I know. But I just wanted to tell a little story.

This is 100% not that, but I did try to infuse it with all the joy, love, and quiet contentment that I get every time I look at your work. I hope you like my stick people, babe! 😆

Grace's school plans a Christmas market to raise money for a new playground in the schoolyard. Rachel catches a cold, and the baking weekend with the kids falls short. Grace is devasted, and Charlie cries disappointedly. Danny can't fight the rising pressure that the change of plans causes in his chest. He storms into Steve's office. "What's wrong, Danny?" Hi there! I feel like every year I just end up watching the same handful of Christmas movies, so decided it's finally time for me to broaden my horizons this year. I see that you appear to be quite a fan of Christmas movies & was wondering if by any chance you may have seen any of the following & can vouch for whether any of them are any good & worth a watch: Wish Upon a Christmas and Santa's Squad both starring Aaron Ashmore, Buttons: A Christmas Tale starring Ioan Gruffud 1/2

Home for the Holidays starring RDJ & A Princess for Christmas starring Sam Heughan. I like those four actors so those are ones I've kind of stumbled across whilst scouring for things to watch but I'm also open to any suggestions if you have any other recs😉? I realize that the majority of festive/Christmas movies are unlikely to feature any significant whump in them but if you happen to know of any that do that would also be a bonus! Thank you❤! 2/2

You have come to the right place my friend!! I LOVE Christmas movies so much!! 

So I’ve seen 3 out of the 5 of those films. Unfortunately none of them really have any whump to them. Such is the way of Christmas/Holiday/Hallmark movies. 

A Princess for Christmas with Sam Heughan and Katie McGrath is SO GOOD!! I love it a lot. I watch it every year. It’s so cute and it’s really funny watching Sam play the harsh, badass, unpolished Jamie Fraser and then watching him playing the super posh clean cut royalty type. And Katie is SO funny and amazing like usual. Highly recommend.

Wish Upon a Christmas with Aaron Ashmore is also good! He plays a dad in the film and runs a Christmas ornament making business and he’s super handsome and cute in it. It also stars  Larisa Oleynik who plays Jenna Kaye in H50 if you’ve seen that. I think it’s super charming and cute and has a nice touch of Christmas magic in it.

I have not yet watched Santa's Squad but I have it in my dvr to watch soon.

Home for the Holidays I’ve only seen once a long time ago and it was purely because of RDJ lol. It’s kind of a crazy film but I think it's so good. Naturally RDJ was phenominal in it. 

I have not seen Buttons but GOD I WANT TO!!! It looks amazing and definitely look to be up my alley with it’s historical aspect, musical aspect, and Ioan Gruffdd!! I’m totally putting it on my watch list.

So, @narkito tagged me for a writing meme and I had some time tonight to play around with it :)

1. How many works in progress do you have?

I have a Daredevil/Jessica Jones/The Punisher crossover that is in the beta phase right now.

I’m mulling over my Daredevil Secret Santa due in a few weeks.

I have an unfinished McDanno story that I might use for my H50 Big Bang story. I have around 20k written for it and I’m not sure how much more it’ll need. It requires quite  a bit of revision.

2. Do you/would you write fan fiction?

Yes.

3. Do you prefer paper books or e-books?

I prefer paperback books. I love graphic novels, and I tend to read fanfic on my laptop.

4. When did you start writing?

I started reading fanfic when I discovered the X-Files. But I first started writing in the ER fandom which was mostly hosted on yahoo groups then ff.net. Most of the authors on those groups were people in the medical field which is where I learned how to write emergency room and other trauma situations in a more realistic way. The resource page for the yahoo groups was a researcher’s dream come to true!

I moved to the CSI fandom then Stargate Atlantis and I’m currently in the Hawaii Five-O and Marvel fandom.

5. Do you have someone you trust that you share your work with?

Oh, yes!  I have a few beta and alpha readers that I trust a lot!

I don’t write WIPs and it’s a very lonely process, especially when a story takes months to write. But I feel writing to completion benefits the process when it comes to story flow and plot development. And I’ve never had a story that didn’t need changes in earlier sections. So, alpha readers help cheer me on when I’ve been writing for weeks/months and I need that emotional lift or if I need someone to gently tell me that I have a gaping plot hole :)

I have several go-to beta readers depending on the fandom. They really push me to be a better writer.

6. Where is your favorite place to write?

On my living room sofa with my headphones listening to music.

7. Favorite book as a child?

I’m not sure I have one. Maybe A Wrinkle in Time

8. Writing for fun or publication?

For fun.  My goal is publication one day.

9. Have you taken any writing classes?

I took a screen writing class in college, but nothing else.

10. What inspired you to write?

It’s always been for creative outlet. I’m an introvert and while I have a nice small circle of friends that I hang out with, I prefer writing at home than going out.  For a long period of time I bounced from crisis to crisis and writing provided catharsis. Now it’s more for enjoyment.
