@agentbootyreportingforduty @meelopee After seeing this post I remembered this scene! I know it's Junior carrying Danny but still... I'm sure that had they been younger, and Alex didn't have back pain after all those years of injuries, he'd be the one to do this.

Steve does haul Danny up like it was nothing in the finale when he find him shot though! And there's also that time he grabbed him by the waist to pull him off a suspect and just puts him behind himself (unfortunately the camera is pretty close up so you can only see part of it). Might make a post about the manhandling of Danny...

Also pls if you carry someone don't grab by the neck bc ow lots of weight is resting on that point alone and the one doing the carrying doesn't have enough surface area to grab and is prob straining every muscle trying not to drop you - also note how stiff Scott is holding himself to make it easier on Beulah - had he grabbed by the shoulders it'd have been easier on both of them.

sorry but why is no one talking about THE LOVE SONG playing when danny dreams of him and steve owing and ruling Steve’s in 8x10??

like its a thing to give us Danny dreaming of his perfect life and it being steve wearing that slutty button up him and steve having their own little paradise. but it’s another to play “Volare” A LOVE SONG when these two are spoon feeding each other while looking in each other eyes like they want to make love at this exact moment.

- did-did Danny really just organize an intervention for Steve? To make him take better care of himself?? I don't know how to feel about this

- Lou really just said "Steve listen to your husband, he loves you" spoken like a true married man

- kinda gotta agree with Dog, not your finest move Danny

- so can we all agree that Danny losing his mind a little over Steve's radiation poisoning is kinda like the whole Steve losing his mind over Danny retiring thing but in reverse?

- I think Steve has never looked more stressed than with this stress counseler person asking him about his sexlife right in front of danny

- awwww now the end of this episode is in my top 3 favorite heart to hearts these two dorks have ever had

- damn love Jerry's new haircut

- I will never get tiered of Danny and steve bickering about the restaurant, I know they are setting it up to fail but I genuinely think this could have been a good thing to eventually end the show on, like a retirement thing, but oh well

- aww I love Danny trying to comfort neolani with something Steve told him, only to have it backfire and make him anxious again

- pfffff and tani and junior sit in the far back like literal children

- oh great we're doing the biological warfare stuff again, this should be fun

- so they only have 8 hours to live? sounds like a prime love confession set up to me

Im on season 4 of a H50 rewatch, because I miss it. Did you notice how in the end of the first episode, where they were sitting in the chairs by the beach, that’s how it ended, as well? OMG, when I realized it, I can’t explain that feeling. And how Grace just loves her Uncle Steve is amazing. I’m trying to remember when the first time she called him that was. Or maybe I’ve read too many fanfics and have now put the two, as one?

Oh man I miss H50 so much it's crazy. I need to go buy the dvd sets so I can watch it any time I want to. I'm about due for my own rewatch.

Ahhh yes!! The parallel of the first and last episodes with the two of them sitting on the beach together KILLS ME! And we can add in the dream sequence Danny has in 8x10 of the two of the sitting on the beach as old men. Danno and Steve. Sitting on the beach together. My favorite thing.

I love Grace's relationship with her Uncle Steve!! He's like a second father to her and i love them. She definitley calls him Uncle Steve in the show and it took some digging and thinking but I'm fairly sure the first time we hear her call Steve "Uncle" is in 1x23 which funny enough is one of my favorite episodes because it's the episode when Danny is poisoned with sarin. Steve picks up Grace from school after Danny is in the hospital and she calls him Uncle Steve then. I think that's the first time we hear it but certainly not the last time! The Aloha Girls camping trip, her homecoming dance, the episode after she gets into her car accident. I know for sure she calls him Uncle Steve in those episodes.

God I miss H50

Because I like tiny details, here’s one I noticed while rewatching 8x10 for the billionth time.

This is right when Steve, Tani and Junior come in after being cleared. Look at the clock. It reads, roughly, 2:43 (it’s a little hard to read the hour because of the glare but its closer to the 3 than the 4 so)

Here, when the doc comes out and tells everyone Danny pulled through, the clock reads about 6:15.

Danny was in surgery for at least 3 and half hours most likely more because it takes time to get tested for a virus and it’s obvious that the others had been waiting for a while. Jerry even tells Steve that they’re still working on Danny. So it’s been at least 3 and a half hours, probably longer.

Steve sat through being tested for traces of the virus for god knows how long, then he had to sit in that waiting room for almost 4 hours wondering if Danny was alive, if he was going to be okay. And I think his face here says it all:

This is the face of a man who is going over every single he did in that isolation room, wondering if Danny was going to die despite it, because of it. Thinking about how he can’t lost Danny and feeling guilty for him getting hurt (cause lets be real, Steve always blames himself for things like this). This man, who looked like he was on the verge of tears the entire time they were trapped in the isolation room, is sitting there, for HOURS, praying Danny lives. 

And god bless Kamekona for seeing this and distracting him by talking about his new haircut AND I love that everyone else picked up on that and went along with it. 

Then the doctor comes in and Steve looks like he’s about to be told the worst news and he looks so scared it’s breaking my heart

AND THEN (I’m sorry timeline stuff is my favorite) if we’re going by the transition shot between being told Danny pulled through and Steve asking if he can see him, it took ALL NIGHT before the crew could go see Danny. LOOK! We go from early evening

To evening

To sunrise

To the early morning

To the shot of them all in Danny’s room

I’m 99% sure that Steve barged his way into Danny’s room before then and he probably stayed with him all night. In fact I’m it looks like everyone left the hospital at some point because EVERYONE IS IN A NEW OUTFIT!!! Steve looks like he’s wearing the same shirt but he’s not. I checked. So now I headcanon that one of the others just brought him a change of clothes and his badge and gun (Junior or Lou probably) cause he refused to leave the hospital.

Has anyone pointed out already that exactly 24 hours or such after Steve and Danny almost died together, and especially after they almost Confessed Something They Had Never Told Each Other Before, while Danny is in a coma and again almost dying, his only recurring theme in imagining his future is that Steve's always by his side, and no woman in sight whatsoever? That Steve chaperones Grace’s wedding and Charlie's academy graduation? That Danny's relatives call him at the landline in Steve's house because that's his house too? That he's grown old and the partner he dreams at his side is Steve, not Rachel, not Amberlissa, just Steve, growing old and annoying and bickering with him, both still alive and thriving after forty years?

And this all apparently prompted by that chocked confession he never got to disclose because Steve had to stop him midway with his own chocked confession?

Yeah. Not about the restaurant, at all. If you needed more proof.

If Steve yelled at me the way he yelled at Tani to figure out a way to get help after Danny was shot while in quarantine I would’ve burst into tears.....and that’s why I should never be in any sort of intense, high pressure situation. I would just cry

So, let me get this absolutely straight.

Danny is drifting between life and death, and during his comatose state, he dreams. He dreams of his future. He dreams what he wants it to be. He watches his and Steve's successful restaurant thriving, despite knowing it's something that won't really turn out that successful but hey, they can try again once they're really retired and can give it their full attention. He watches his kids grown and build their own life, Grace marrying the man he loves and trusts, and whom Danny loves and trusts too, and Charlie becoming a brilliant police officer, following his own steps and surely not Stan's.

And who's beside him the whole time? The infamous ex-wife he keeps trying to rebuild "something" with, all for the children's sake, but without really loving her anymore and surely not being in love with her? No. The ghost girlfriend he's never once said he loved, and who by now should be his chance at building a lasting relationship into his middle age years? No.

It's Steve. Steve is still his job partner, in the restaurant. Steve is there witnessing Grace's wedding and getting emotional over Charlie's graduation. It's Steve taking pictures with Danny and Danny's kids. And it's an octogenarian Steve sitting beside an octogenarian Danny, still bickering and poking and prodding and pecking at each other, and still saying I love you like it's the only things that makes sense, talking about Danny's grandkid like it's their grandkid, and surely is since she called Steve's house to get in touch with Danny...making it implicitly very certain that they live together. Danny lives with Steve at Steve's house, not with Amber or Rachel at his own. It's Danny living with Steve, not some Lynn or Catherine.

All of this in an episode which, right in the title, states that the future is in the past, meaning (supposedly) that what expects them in the future is to keep living the life they've been living until then. Together.

And yes this is just Danny's dream and not Steve's, but honestly. They live in each other's pocket 24/7/365 and you would assume that Danny doesn't know everything passing through Steve's mind and doesn't know everything he wants and wishes and hopes and dreams, and whom he loves, and whom he wants to spend the rest of hus life beside?

And all this said, you think anyone might still believe, at this point, that this is simply a normal, even if very strong, male friendship? Really?

Let me tell you this. You don't need wedding vows and don't even need a wedding, to become each other's life, each other's past, present and future. Each other's everything. Danny and Steve just happened to walk on earth at the same time in the same place and by some cosmic event, to meet and know each other, and choose each other, each day of their lives, again and again.

And you tell me this isn't exactly what Love is?

H50 episode 8.10. / I decided for me - long before the last episode aired - that this is how the show ended. It has 99% of everything a #McDanno fan could wish for. Lots of great moments. Like proud dads at Charlie’s big day or Danny and Gracie on her wedding day.
