could you please do a BoRhap request? Where she looks after the guys during recording since her family owns Rockfield Farm and they love her cooking? But the guys (minus Fred who has Mary) all fancy her too?
❤️
SOMEBODY TO LOVE
Pairings: John + Roger + Brian x Fem!reader Summary: ^^ Warnings: none, I don't think Note: I did my best guys, I'm sorry
Tumblr media Tumblr media
a knock came to your door as you finished up breakfast
you left the kitchen and went to the front door
you opened the door to see a blonde with long hair with sunglasses on
he was wearing dark, slightly flared jeans, a yellow v neck shirt underneath a greeny grey jacket with fur
behind him was a short haired brunette with a mustache
he pushed the blonde out of the way and held out his hand
"hi, I'm paul, this is Roger, From Queen" he introduced
of course you knew Queen was coming to your family's farm, it wasn't like you didn't know who they were and wouldn't let them in, it's just that you felt Rogers gaze planted on you and it made you feel a little nervous
"you're not" Roger scoffed quietly
"yes, of course, come in, are the rest here too?" you asked, stepping out of the way to let them in
"they're sorting out their luggage" Roger answered, taking off his glasses
"well, I made breakfast..if you're hungry?" you smiled tightly
"depends what you're serving" Roger smirked and looked you up and down
"pancakes" you responded quickly
"yeah, I could eat"
he followed you to the kitchen and he took a seat, shovelling food onto the plate in front of him and started eating
a few minutes later Roger had finished his plate and went back for seconds
"ah there you are Freddie" Paul spoke up, noticing the other three band members by the door
"we're also here mate" the tall, long curly haired brunette said, seeming annoyed by Paul's presence
"should I show you boys to your rooms?" you wondered, breaking the silence that filled the room
The three boys standing at the door all turned to you
"didn't know the farm came with a pretty lady" the curly Brunette smiled
"oh I'm Y/n. this is my Family's Farm. I live in the building beside this one, I'm just here to show you around"
"are those pancakes for us?" the auburn haired one said
"oh, yes! you can have as many as you want" you pointed to the mountain of pancakes you had made on the counter
"they are delicious" Roger said with a mouthful of food
"well I'm Brian, This is Fred and John and I see you've already met Rog"
"it's a pleasure to meet you guys"
"pleasure's all ours darling" Freddie beamed
"well I'll show you your rooms then" you said taking off your apron and leading them upstairs
"it's probably not what you're used to but your manager said it was perfect to get away from distractions so" you shrugged
you turned to face the boys and see Roger first
"you're in here. mister Taylor" you looked to the first door
"right" he grunted, walking into the room with his heavy luggage
"and that's yours, Mister Mercury" you pointed to the room in the corner to the left
"thank you darling"
"Mister May, yours is right here" pointing to the right side next to the bathroom
Brian walked into the room and you noticed John still standing on the top of the stairs
"oh, sorry. mister Deacon, you're downstairs" he walks back down the stairs and you lead him down to the room.
"I know it's small but it doesn't get nearly as cold as the other rooms" you informed him
"okay..." he frowns as he steps down
"well I'll let you get settled then, i'll show you and the band around when you're ready" you smiled, starting to go up the stairs
"are there still pancakes?" he asked, putting his luggage down on the bed
"oh yeah, they'd probably still be warm too" you answered
he soon started following you up the stairs to the kitchen to find all the other members of the band eating the pancakes
"Rog really didn't lie, these pancakes are delicious" Brian hummed
"we need more syrup" Roger lifted up the empty bottle of maple syrup
"oh..ok" you walked over to the fridge as John took a seat and started eating the food
"here you go" you grinned, putting the syrup on the table in front of them
-
it's been a few days since they've arrived and much to your surprise, you've seen more of them then you expected
you didn't think you would see much of them, you thought thy would be very busy and you didn't have a problem with that
but Roger, Brian and John all seemed to want you around them
Roger would casually flirt with you
Brian would always start up a conversation or make you help with with a lyric
and John would subtly make eye contact and smile before coming up to you to ask for suggestions
and they would all ask if you could cook them up something when they got hungry and said they liked your cooking, so much so that there would be barely any left for Freddie or you.
Roger was currently helping you make breakfast while Brian and John sat and ate while they discussed songs
"i put my heart and soul into this song" Roger spoke up as they talked about his new song he made
"no one is disputing that" John smiled, lifting up his fork
"and you don't like it because you want your songs on the album" Roger fought
"it's not that Roger" John denied
"then what is it?" the blonde raised his eyebrows as he stopped cutting bread
"I'm in love with my car?" Brian spoke up
you fought back a laugh at the thought of the song
Brian and John both made a questionable face as silence filled the air
"maybe it's not strong enough?" Brian suggested
"what does that even mean 'not strong enough'?" Roger frowned
"I know I'm late. What did I miss?" Freddie came in and poured himself some tea
John straightened his back and looked at the singer "discussing Roger's car song"
"is it strong enough, that's all I'm asking. If I'm on my own here, then i apologise" Brian put his hands up defensively
"how does your new song go, then, hm?" Roger walked over and grabbed Brians lyrics
"you call me sweet.. like I'm some kind of cheese" the drummer read out
you stifled a laugh as you cooked bacon
"it's good" Brian defended, looking at the John who was eating a sausage with a smile and Freddie who was stirring his tea
"wow" Roger sighed sarcastically
"is that-, is that you know- when my hand's on your grease gun..That's very subtle isn't it?" Brian read Rogers back
"it's a metaphor, Brian" Roger argued
"it's just a bit weird Roger, what exactly are you doing with that car?" John spoke, waving his fork around
"what do you think, Y/n?" Roger turned to you, looking for backup
you put the now cooked bacon on a plate and turned to the boys
"don't turn to me, I'm not getting involved" you shook your head
"children please, we could all murder each other but then who would be left to record this album?" Freddie butted in
"statistically speaking, most bands don't fail, they break up" John stated mater-of-a-factly
"why the hell would you say something like that?" Freddie frowned
John shrugged and Freddie turned back to the Blonde
"Roger, there's only room in this band for one hysterical queen" Freddie informed the drummer before walking out
"you know why you're angry, Roger?" Brian began again
"...why?" Roger breathed out
"'cause you know you're song isn't strong enough" the curly headed man repeated
"boys I really don't think you should be-" you started to say but cut off by Roger throwing bacon at Brian's face
"is that strong enough?" Roger questioned
"ok" you mumbled, looking at John, who smiled at you amusingly
Roger pushed off plates and glasses off the table angrily
"what about that?!" he asked before going over to find something else
"Hey!" you yelled at Roger, who grabbed a pot of Coffee
he turned and began to swing it at the two boys before he stopped as they put their hands up
"Not the coffee machine!?" they both yelled
Roger put the coffee machine down and you sighed looking at the mess
"I'll clean this up" he sighed after a moment of silence
"you sure are" you nodded sternly
-
you sat in the recording room on the couch with John and Roger as Brian got ready to record his guitar
Roger slung his arm around your shoulder as Brian got set up
"so..how about we go get dinner later" he suggested
"pardon?" you wondered
"you, me, i'll take you out to dinner" he repeated
"I highly doubt she'll want to go out with you, Roger, she's too good for you" John sighed
"and what? you're better?" the drummer scoffed, looking over you to the auburn headed bassist
John stared at Roger for a moment
"how's katie? last time we saw her was right before we left to come here" the Deacon wondered
"shut it mate" Roger groaned
your thoughts were cut short as Brian started playing
you focused on the music but felt John's gaze on you, you slowly turned your head to see him staring at you, smiling
"so, do you have a boyfriend?" Roger asked
"I don't see how that's any of your business" you crossed your arms, looking back at Brian, who's still playing his solo
"what if I want to ask you out?" he shrugged
"how come you're the one that gets to ask her out?" John leans forward to argue with Roger
"because I can" the Taylor boy smirked
"Roger, do you have to be such a man whore?" John questioned, his accent become more defined and thick
"I think you're just jealous you don't get women chasing after you" Roger huffed, leaning back on the couch, seeming to be not fazed
"ah yes, because all i need is women to make me feel better about myself, all i need and want is women around me to fill a void of unfulfillment" John rolled his eyes
"oh yeah? let's see who she wants more then" Roger raises his eyebrows as he took off his glasses to look at you
John frowned "you can't pressure her into choosing either of us...that's not how relationships work, Roger"
Roger stifled a laugh "who said I wanted a relationship"
"my point exactly"
"all i'm saying" is that she's probably looking for somebody to love and i'm right here" Roger raised his hands in defense
"what makes you think she wants someone?" John glared
"children, children. leave the poor girl alone, she doesn't want either of you" Freddie butted in
you found yourself wondering how it came to this, two members of the band Queen almost practically fighting for your, to be with you
it made sense about Roger, seeing all of those tabloids of him with new girls around his shoulder almost every week
but John? he didn't really seem the type
you tuned out of the argument and soon wondered when Brian came back into the room as you looked up to find him sitting with Freddie
"I think whatever happens, it's up to her, you shouldn't be trying to force something she does not want" John fought
"what are you guys fighting about?"
"who gets to take this beautiful lady out" Roger smirked, nodding towards you
"who says either of you get to?" Brian spoke in a confused manner
"oh don't tell me you want her too?" Roger groaned
"what's so wrong about that?" the guitarist questioned
"I'm gonna go" you sighed, getting up
"are you still going to make us pasta tonight?" John perked up
you chuckled "I think you all need a break from my cooking"
"NO!!"

Part 1.
—–———
You were barely paying attention to what your father was saying and he noticed. He snapped his fingers in front of your face and you flinched, giving him all your attention. "Did you hear what I said?"
"Yes! What you always say! Be safe, be vigilant, be logical, blah, blah, blah, and all that jazz!" You made the motion with your hands "Can I go now? Only Mary will be wondering where I am and it is her birthday party after all."
He sighed and rolled his eyes "Fine, but if you feel like anything is off- come home."
"I will." You reassured him with a smile. He had been on edge for the past few weeks. "I'll try and be home before midnight." You gave him a hug and went to pull away but he held you and pat your back. He would never admit it but you knew he was scared. Scared that you'd end up like one of those people he trusted and had lost- that someone would find you in a ditch or floating in the Thames. "I'll be fine."
"I just worry..." he pulled back with a small smile. "As I've always done." He sighed "You're the only one I have left." Your eyes flickered down to your feet, you were supposed to be upbeat and excited about going to the party at Mary's, but now you felt deflated. He didn't mention your mother, but you knew he was talking about her. She was in a car accident years ago, it was the only time you had ever seen your father cry.
He was notorious, he had a reputation. He was one of London's most fiercest mob bosses. You hated that you were automatically tied to it because of him and being his only child, he expected you to eventually take over someday- there was a great weight resting on your shoulders. The past few weeks had been tough for him, a rival family had upped their threats, taking down people linked to your fathers businesses and that only made him retaliate much more forcefully- you were wondering if the city had run out of body bags yet.
You could cut the tension looming over London with a knife.
He said that he hoped you'd have a good night just before you left the house, the guards outside all gave you a small, friendly smile as you made your way to your car. You got in and irritatingly sighed seeing the time on your watch- you were already late. You sped to Mary's house and hoped that she would be too busy interacting with other guests to notice your lack of presence.
Brian sighed into his- much needed- whisky. It had been a long day for him. He had listen to his father drone on with how successful they were becoming. Brian didn't see killing people as something to celebrate but when you were in the business, it was something to pop a bottle of champagne open over. Growing up with a mob boss as a father meant Brian was already automatically in it- he didn't have a choice. In fact, he was sure the second his mother announced she was pregnant with him, he was inducted into the 'family business'.
"There's a drop tomorrow, Bri. We'll be at yours at seven." Roger spoke in a hushed tone. Brian sighed again and took a sip of his drink. There was better things he could be doing on a Thursday evening than waiting for Roger, Freddie and John to come over and then intercept a drugs drop on his fathers behalf. Brian halfhearted hummed and Roger narrowed his eyes "I thought you said that you wanted to come to this bloody party earlier this morning but your acting like someone has cut your balls off." Brian sent Roger a glare "What's the matter with you?"
'What's the matter with me?' Brian mentally replied. 'I've just watched a man get shot less than an hour ago, scrapped my hands with a nail brush until they were red-raw trying to get the dried blood out of my skin and then toss on clothes and come to a party. The mood to party had certainly disappeared after all that bullshit.' Brian shook his head "Nothing."
Roger looked completely unconvinced but decided not to press him. Brian barely knew the woman who's birthday it was, he just knew she meant a lot to Freddie and at this stage in his life, Brian was just happy to get out the house and focus on something else for a few hours. John was tearing up the dance floor and Freddie was chatting away with the birthday girl. Roger left to get them both another drink, leaving Brian with his thoughts again as he downed the last of his drink. When his eyes looked up, he choked slightly. His jaw dropped seeing the most beautiful thing he had ever laid his eyes on walk through the front door.
Mary gasped and tapped Freddie excitedly when she caught a glimpse of you. "Y/N! Oh Y/N!" She squeaked, running over to you and pressed a kiss on each cheek before you engulfed each other in a hug. You could smell rosé perfuming her lips. She pulled back and raised her eyebrows "You're late!"
You playfully rolled your eyes with a cheeky smile "It just took me so long to haul up this huge bag up the stairs!" You pretended to peek in it "It's a gift for some girl because it's her birthday...I think she's 84?" You joked and she playfully shoved your shoulder while giggling. "Happy birthday, lovely!" You handed her the bag.
"You've perked up a bit," Roger observed aloud as he handed Brian a glass and placed his empty one on the table beside them. "What's got you so smiley?"
Brian didn't even notice he was smiling, he had been doing so as soon as you walked in- grinning even wider seeing your interaction with Mary. "Look at that girl," he motioned towards you. "Fuck- she's stunning!"
Roger followed Brian's line of vision and lowly whistled "That ass!" Brian nudged Roger and sent him a disapproving look. Roger scoffed "Oh come on, Bri. I've known you for years- you're an ass man. I bet that's one of the first things you saw."
"I actually saw her gorgeous face first...then focused on her smile...then her eyes..." his voice was getting dreamier by the second before he sighed with realisation. "Then her ass." He uttered and Roger let out a bark of laughter, clapping his friends shoulder. They stiffened slightly hearing a scream coming from the direction you were standing in. The flat was small and all ten people that were in it looked around to you and Mary who was clutching a dress with tears in her eyes.
"Vintage Valentino! The dress! This..this is it!" She yelled and you widely grinned. She had pointed it out in a magazine ages ago when they did a piece on vintage fashion and she fell in love with it- banged on about it for what felt like decades. You found it about bought it for her. One of the limited perks of having your father do what he does. "This is too much!" She gasped.
"No! No!" You smiled and kissed her cheek "Worth it for you. I adore you, I love you, my best friend in the whole world- you're like a sister to me. Nothing would be ever too much for you. Happy birthday." You squeezed her arm and she almost burst into tears. "Try it on! Let me see it on you!" You stopped her before she left to go into her room "Actually, show me tomorrow. I'll come over and we can go shopping and afterwards we can have a fashion show and binge on wine and junk food while listening to cheesy songs!"
Mary smiled so wide that it almost hurt, her eyes all sparkly from tears. "I honestly think you're my soulmate!" She chuckled. "Thank you, thank you so much!" She pulled you in for another hug and then went to place the dress in her room.
You decided to get yourself a drink, you knew she'd spend at least another ten minutes in her room admiring the thing. You walked up to where the bar was and noticed a tall man with curly hair looking at you. You coyly grinned and took a small detour to talk to him. "Hi there," you greeted. It was only when you got closer that you noticed the man with blonde hair standing next to him.
"H-hi!" Brian managed to croak out before taking a large gulp of his drink.
"Hey," Roger nodded his head and outstretched his hand "Roger- or just Rog. This is Brian, or Bri if you can't be bothered saying his full name." Roger joked and you laughed. Brian couldn't help but smile at the sound...despite being annoyed by Roger's comment.
"Nice to meet you Roger, you too Brian." You shook their hands. "I'm Y/N and I'm about to get myself one of those," you pointed towards their glasses "If you'll excu-"
"Here." Brian cut you off, swiftly grabbing Roger's untouched glass out of his hands and pushing it into yours. He didn't want you to leave just yet. The blonde shot Brian a deadly glare and uttered a string of curses under his breath as he left to get himself another drink. Your eyes followed an annoyed Roger for a moment before looking back at Brian who's lips were curved into a smile that reached his mesmerising eyes.
"Thanks," you chuckled out, your teeth sinking into your bottom lip. "How do you know Mary? You work with her?"
Brian swallowed hard "Uh, no...I'm here with Freddie. She was kind enough to let us come- Roger, our other friend John and myself." No, he didn't work with her because he worked mainly in disposal of bodies and not Biba.
"Sounds like Mary," you softly smiled to yourself. "She's very kind. I've been her friend since I've been born!" You smirked- she brought a sense of normality to your life. "The amount of trouble we've been in together, I tell you!"
Brian- finding a bit of confidence that was probably more Dutch courage from the drink- bit down on his lip and leaned in little so you could hear his low voice over the music. "You seem too good to be bad."
You blinked, an almost unknown tingling surge flowing through your veins hearing him say that in such a dark tone. You challenged back, a little bit of shameless flirting would do no harm. "You'll just have to hang around and see how troublesome I can be, Brian..." you purred his name and sipped away at the whisky in Roger's glass. Brian balled his fists a little seeing your tongue dart out ever so slightly before your lips touched the glass. His fingernails digging into his palm relieved barely any tension. You grinned while taking a better look of Brian, your head cocking to the side ever so slightly. "You have nice eyes." You could happily see yourself floating in them, somewhere in between the stars they held.
They looked like little galaxies- endless and infinite.
Brian felt his heart skip a beat and he melted a little at your sweet, sincere tone. "They aren't as half as nice as yours...your eyes are beautiful." He whispered and you felt your cheeks flush. "You're beautiful." You bashfully turned away but he turned you around to face him again, keeping one hand on your arm. "Even more so when you do that..." he gently bobbed your cheeks and nose with his finger. "It's cute seeing you blush and get all flustered."
"No!" You groaned with a grin "Surely not!"
Brian rested his head against the wall and looked at you like you were a field of sunflowers in summer. "It's true." You mirrored his moves slightly and leaned against the wall, a small- yet what felt like a canyon-like gaping- distance between you both.
You stayed in the same spot with him talking for hours about everything and anything that came to mind- and flirting when the chance cropped up. Between the sweet, subtle brushing of your hands together and the occasional gentle, playful nudge, you both felt yourself more naturally and effortlessly drawn to each other. You had a lot in common and what you didn't, you found the subjects you were both alien to, interesting. "Maybe you should take me to the museum and tell me all about it." You suggested after he was talking about a piece of art. Brian blinked in shock.
"L-like a date?" He quietly asked.
A small flicker of confusion and worry flashed over both your faces. Neither of you had ever held a steady relationship before and had only been on a date or two outside of being very briefly with other people. Being linked to the 'business' made it ridiculously difficult to find anyone and build a relationship with them. Maybe it was time to change that.
"Sure," any hint of brief panic had gone. "Yeah, a date. Why not?" You shrugged a shoulder with a half grin.
Brian flashed you a smile, showcasing his pearly whites "Then it's a date. I can meet you on Monday outside the Tate around two?" You happily agreed to that- it wouldn't be too hard to slip away from home on your own to the museum for a few hours in the middle of a Monday afternoon. He then noticed you mindlessly tapping your foot. "Do you want to dance?" He asked and you shyly nodded. Brian took your empty glass and placed it down with his. You walked into any space you could find in Mary's small living room that was now being used as a makeshift dance floor. The limited space meant you were extremely close to Brian- not like either of you were complaining. His hand found your waist while your hips swayed, you shuffled forward and-almost intentionally- swayed them against Brian's.
You felt his grip tighten on you a little and he bit back a small groan feeling you grind against him. Your hands went to the back of his neck and you hummed the song that was blaring through the speakers before leaning forward to speak in Brian's ear. "Your hair is so curly...I love it." You tugged it ever so slightly and heard him whine in delight. You devilishly smirked, his arms snaked completely around your waist and he was slowly dragging you off the 'dance floor' to the empty hall. "Do you like that?" You pulled it again and Brian couldn't help but groan.
He pinned you against the wall, his body pressed against yours and his hands roaming wherever they desired. You contently sighed feeling his hands brushing over your neck, he pulled you forward slightly and you both spent a few antagonising moments just looking at each other with half-hooded eyes, noses brushing against one another's. "You really are so beautiful," he whispered and placed an innocent, whisky laced kiss to your lips before pulling back barely an inch. You cupped his cheek and pulled his face forward to close the distance again. You both coaxed a moan from one another's throats as you began to deepen the kiss, Brian's tongue softly brushed over your bottom lip making you involuntary part your lips just enough for him to slip it into your mouth and clash with your tongue.
Your hands clutched at Brian's jacket and his tightened around your waist as the kiss became more passionate. You gasped feeling his lips leave yours and reposition themselves on your neck, gently kissing and sucking away before he sunk his teeth into your flesh, drawing a broken yelp from your mouth. That would need covering with concealer in the morning. Your fingers were twisting in his hair and he groaned against your skin feeling your fingernails softly rake his scalp before you both swiftly broke apart hearing a throat clearing.
"Was wondering where you went," Roger said with a shit-eating smirk on his face at the end of the hall.
You and Brian fixed yourselves a little, completely flustered while wiping away the saliva from your mouths and smoothing out the creases on your clothes. You then noticed the time and gasped a little. "Oh god, I have to get going. It's almost midnight."
Brian ignored Roger's presence for a moment "Thanks for a great night...Cinderella." He joked and you giggled. You asked him for his phone and you added your number with a little red heart emoji at the end of your name.
'Y/N ♥️'
He watched you doing it with a hazy smile on his face. He was completely and utterly enamoured with you.
He gave you another kiss "Goodnight, Brian." You leaned in and whispered in his ear "Text me or give me a call if you want to talk. Can't wait for our date." You pulled back and winked. Brian bit down on his lip and placed his hand to the small of your back, pulling you in again for yet another kiss before releasing you- he was already addicted to those lips of yours. He knew he'd have withdrawal over the next few days. With bright red cheeks, you pat Brian's chest and then also bid Roger goodnight as you passed him.
You headed off to wish Mary happy birthday again and to say goodbye. Roger slowly approached Brian who was giddily grinninglike an idiot. "Well don't mind me," Roger held up his hands. "You two seemed to have hit it off."
"God, she's everything I've ever wanted, Rog." Brian dreamily sighed "Smart, funny, and her kisses- Christ almighty." He bit his balled fist and screwed his eyes shut.
Roger raised a brow at Brian before moving his eyes down. "I can tell..." Brian lightly shoved him, muttering a string of curses as he turned his back tried to sort himself out to make it look like he didn't have a boner.
"Oh bugger off," Brian grumbled and they walked back through to the living area. "Got a date with her on Monday," a smile returned to his face. Roger was genuinely happy for him- he always wanted to see his friend find someone special. "We talked for ages. She's really amazing, Rog."
"So you keep saying, mate!" Roger chuckled "I hope it goes well between the two of you." They stayed another little while at the party, Brian's mind constantly occupied by you.
•••
You quietly stepped though the front door a little passed midnight. "Y/N?" You walked into the living room and found your father looking over some paperwork "How was your night? Did Mary like her gift?"
"Yeah," you nodded "She loved it! I had a good night- a great one!" You sillily smiled at the thought of Brian. He was making you all giddy. You decided not to to tell your dad about him. "I'm going to get some sleep, night dad."
"Goodnight! I'm glad you had a nice time!" He called out as you hurried up the stairs with a stupidly large smile on your face.
'Unknown: It's Brian...is it Monday yet? X'
You smiled and text him back before saving his number. You were wanting the same thing he wanted.
'Y/N♥️: I'm afraid not. I wish it was though! I had a great time with you tonight...I can't wait to see you again. X'
Brian read you text over and over, eventually placing his phone to his chest and longingly sighing and wishing that the days would fly by. The two of you were rather smitten with each other.
But little did you or Brian know was that your two families were violently feuding.
And now you were both standing in the middle of it.

HOME — Roger Taylor
Tumblr media
Intenta razonar.
"No sé Freddie...
"Perdona. Solo me preocupo."
Vas a dejarlos aquí...
"Ven a vivir conmigo"
Conociste a Freddie hace unos meses.
"No sé Freddie..."
"Te llevaré a mi habitación.

*************************
"My darlings!" Winifred Taylor cooed as she opened her arms to you and her son. "Come in! Come in! You'll catch your death!" You both grinned, bending down to let the little woman hug you.
"Mum-" Roger giggled, hugging her tight. "The whole house smells like Burbon!"
She chuckled happily, giving the same mischievous smile Roger always did when he was up to no good. "I'm only making fruitcake, you nutter! Shame on you! Making a drunkard out of me!" She gave a teasing wink, pinching his cheek lovingly. She rubbed it softly with her thumb, noticing how his skin was still red and cold from the snow.
"Was the trip easy enough on you? You've got to watch out for the black ice, Roger, you know.-" Roger chuckled to himself as he helped you peel off your gloves, icey and wet from the snow. Winifred continued her tittering as she carried in a little tea tray from the kitchen, "It worries me! You driving in that horrible van! You have nice tires right? And you drive slowly in the snow?"
"Yes, mum." He smiled softly as he warmed your hands between his own.
"You're cold!", She exclaimed, suddenly noticing your shivers. "Oh my dear! Come darling, let's get you warmed up. My goodness, you get more and more lovely every time I see you!" You blushed to yourself as she sat you on the couch, draping a quilt over your shoulders and passing you a tea cup and saucer. "Here you are dear...Look at you! I can hardly believe it! I swear, just yesterday you two were sitting on this same couch listening to that little radio show you both loved so much. Always giggling and whispering back and forth..."
Roger's chest went warm at the thought. His best friend...always rough housing and laughing with him until his big blue eyes filled with happy tears. He plopped down in the arm chair beside you, humming. "You remember when you got those rollerskates for Christmas?" He smiled at the thought, chuckling. "The ones that strapped onto you shoes? Little red wheels?"
You grinned, nodding with excitement at the little memory. "My mom kept telling us we'd break our necks if we tried them out while the road was icy!"
He laughed, blushing with embarrassment, "God, we never listened  did we?"
Winifred scoffed, "No! You didn't! Cheeky little goblins!" She shook her head amusedly, taking your empty cup from the table. "Do either of you need anything to eat? I'm going to check the cake."
Roger giggled, "Sure you are, mum! You just need another shot!"
She tutted, giving him a teasingly stern glance, "I'm going to need a few shots if you keep razzing me Roger Meddows!"
You giggled sweetly at her playful exasperation as Roger pried himself up from the easy chair and wandered over to plop down next to you on the couch, laying his head in your lap. Smiling, you gently twirled one of his blonde locks around on your finger. He scrunched his nose, giving a big, loud yawn and stretching his arms.
You chuckled softly, "Sleeping Beauty prick her finger?"
"Hey! Some of us didn't get to doze off in the passenger seat the whole ride over!" His voice was sweet and croaky with drowsiness.
"I packed your whole bloody suitcase for you! You baby!"
His jaw dropped, brow furrowing, "I am not a baby!"
You laughed, and Roger couldn't help but grin at the sound. He'd always loved your laugh. It sounded like a bird song. He smirked, "At least I don't talk in my sleep!" You crooked your brow and he grinned, knowing he had you.
"I don't talk in my sleep!"
"Oh yes you do! Mumbled the whole way here!" Your ears started to go warm as he grinned at his cleverness. "Oh, Roger! Roger I'm so in love with you! You're beautiful, Roger!" He mimicked you teasingly, making your stomach sink.
Your cheeks flushed completely red, your eyes going wide. Your throat tightened, and Roger could feel you stiffen. His smile faded.
"I....I....I never...said..." You swallow thickly, gently guiding Roger to sit up from his place against your lap.
Winifred wandered back into the living room, dusting flour from her hands. "Would anyone fancy a movie? Or I have home videos!"
"Actually...I...-"
Her bright eyes faded as she saw the look on your face.
"-...I think I'm going to go onto bed."
Her expression fell. "Oh heavens darling, are you alright? It looks like you've seen a ghost." She cradled your face sweetly, feeling your temperature with the back of her hand.
"I'm alright." You gave a weak smile, holding her wrists. "Truly. Everything is so lovely. I'm just...just tired from the travel I suppose."
She gave a little nod, glancing to Roger, who stood and grabbed your suitcase. Winifred grabbed an extra blanket from the linen closet and a bathrobe. "I planned for you to sleep in Roger's room. Would that be alright?"
You nodded quietly, taking your suitcase from Roger. "I've got it."
He frowned, releasing the suitcase and allowing you to roll it down the hall.
***
Winifred spread the extra blanket over the bed, dutifully smoothing any wrinkles with the back of her hand, "Did he say something rude to you? He's rude at times. I know it. He says things he doesn't mean-"
"Oh no...No he's been so lovely, Winifred, I promise." You combed through your hair gently as you unbuckled your suitcase. "I just...I think I've been a bit silly." Your voice broke a little as your eyes burnt with the beginning with tears. You busied in your suitcase, searching out pajamas.
"Silly, how, my love?"
"I..um..." Timidly, you turn to face her. "...I think I started to let myself believe that...that maybe Roger might love me." You held your pajamas against your chest shakily, A tear escaping to roll down your cheek.
Winifred's expression softened, "Oh darling-"
You sniffled, wiping your tears. "I mean, I know he loves me as...as his friend, you know? He loves the girl he got into trouble with and tested out r-rollerskates with and-"
The little woman frowned as you fought the quivering of your voice.
"But I think I always hoped that maybe he'd...he'd love me in the...the different way." You swallowed thickly, more tears burning. "The way where he'd hold my hand or k-kiss my cheeks o-or-" You broke off into a little sob. Winifred rushed to your side in an instant. Gently, she dried your tears, mumbling little motherly reassurances.
"Oh my goodness gracious, sweetheart, dry up those tears...now now...Roger'll never forgive me if he thinks I've made you cry."
You whimpered a little apology, choking out a sad laugh.
"No, love, no no no...Don't be sorry." You sniffled softly as she sat you down, gently running her fingers through your hair and whispering reassurances. "Now I don't know everything..." She soothed, tucking a strand behind your ear. "But I do know, that the two of you go together like puzzle pieces." Your eyes fluttered shut. "You always have. It's like you're made for one another. You get each other."
Timidly, you nodded, trying to relax your muscles.
"And I also know, that when you find the person that fits you like a puzzle piece, there's not anything on earth that could keep you from loving that person." Your heart calmed, and you sniffled, nodding with tearful eyes. Slowly, she lifted your chin with her warm hands, looking you in the eye with a soft smile. She tutted softly, brushing away one last stray tear. "Oh darling...tell that silly boy how you feel."
***
Is was about two in the morning before you finally worked up the courage to stumble into the living room.
Roger laid across the couch, staring up at the glowing Christmas tree with exhausted, open eyes. Quietly, you walked over, sitting yourself on the floor beside the couch where he laid. He perked up, glancing at you. You met his eyes, heart settling in your chest as he gave you a soft, apologetic smile.
"Couldn't sleep?"
You shook your head gently.
He sighed, "Me either. Guess it's always hard to sleep on Christmas Eve though, huh?" You nodded again, giving a soft smile. "Used to toss and turn all night waiting for..."He yawned, stretching. "Father Christmas."
You smiled dreamily. Even as sleep deprived as you were each Christmas morning, it never stopped you from running down the street to Roger's house to share and brag of your spoils.
"Mhm...It's not Christmas Eve anymore though, is it?" He glanced it the clock, "Merry Christmas, pretty girl."
His voice was still sleepy and rough. Gently, he reached down to take your hand in his, pressing a gentle kiss to your knuckles.
You met his eyes, smiling back at him lovingly. "Merry Christmas, Roger Meddows."
He gave a little chuckle at the mimick of his mother, sighing again and squeezing your hand. "I didn't mean to upset you, earlier. I'm sorry." He shot you a sympathetic look, gauging your response before he moved over on the couch, giving you room to curl up beside him if you wanted. His eyes looked hopeful. Slowly, you climbed up beside him. He gave a happy sigh as you relaxed against his chest.
"I'm...I'm sorry I ran off..." You hummed into his Pajama shirt. He gave your arm a sweet little rub, a silent acceptance of your apology. "I think I just got embarrassed."
"Embarassed..." He whispered sleepily, playing with your hair. You pause, eyes fluttering close as you enjoy his touch.
"B-Because....Because I do think you're beautiful."
His hand paused where it was combing through your hair, and he turned to meet your gaze. His eyes were big with surprise.
"Yeah?"
You nodded shyly, heart speeding as his lips spread into a grin.
"You really mean it?"
You nodded again, a deep blush spreading over your cheeks.
He laid back against the armrest, a lazy, blissful smile on his face. "Blimey.....I mean...Blimey."
You chuckled softly, nervously tucking hair behind your ear, "You're happy?"
"Of course I'm happy, silly thing! You're my best friend." He gave a soft smile, joy in his sleepy eyes. "I've loved you since I was six..."
You felt like your chest was going to burst, "L-Loved you too...for so long."
There was a pause, and before Roger could stop himself, he kissed you chastely, soft and sweet and gentle.
Your breath hitched, slowly processing what had just happened. Roger's eyes were hooded, and he had just started to stutter out a whispered apology when you gave a little whimper, pulling him back for a longer, needier kiss. He hummed against your lips, cradling your face and holding you tight against him. You nuzzled up against him needily, wrapping your arms around him as you finally let yourself kiss the boy you'd longed to kiss for so many years. Roger grinned against your lips, giving a little giggle. "God, you precious thing..."
You grin, blushing and hiding your face against the crook of his neck, "Rog?" You mumbled timidly. "D-Do you wanna sleep in your bed with me?"
He hummed sleepily, his hand tracing up and down your back.
"I just...I want you keep holding me and I think it'd be more comfortable than the couch."
Again, he grinned, groaning as he stood from the couch and scooped you up into his arms bridal style.
You squealed, holding on tight to his shoulders. "I can walk, silly boy!"
"Oh no no. I'm never letting you go again. Im afraid you're stuck with me."
You slept well that night with him curled up beside you, wrapping you up tight in his arms.
In fact, you were sure you hadn't slept so well in your whole life.
And that Christmas morning, Winifred was very pleased to find an empty couch in her living room.

 ⭑ 🎸
It was deathly silent in the spacious former home of Brian and his beloved, that had now been reduced to only a house. The ticking of the grandfather clock he had insisted that they had to have when they moved in could be heard ringing out and echoing, pestering the girl to no end.
It was always quiet in their house, even when they fought. There was never a rushed bustle of children you had to get out the door to school, and not even a cat or dog to create a disruptive chaos as they ran about, muddy paws leaving marks on the floor.
There would be the occasional record playing lowly, the notes floating about the house, and sometimes if she couldn’t sleep, she would have Bri play her a soft tune on his old acoustic, his voice having no issue bringing her to rest.
But even now, during one of the most heart wrenching fights that the pair had gone through, it was so quiet you could hear a pin drop on the hardwood flooring.
As Brian was a soft and gentle man, never yelling or raising his voice in the slightest. He wasn’t mean or cruel, in fact, his entire aura calmed her to no end, which is why she supposed she hated this so much.
She scanned with careful eyes over his silhouette, watching as stray curls rustled from the draft coming in from the open window, goosebumps raising on both of their exposed arms.
“What are you looking at?”
“Just you, Bri.”
He rolled his eyes from where he sat on the white sofa, moving his fist under his chin. A scoff fell from his rosy lips as he turned his head to look out the window, not actually paying any mind to the green hills, a light frost covering the entire landscape.
“So are you just going to ignore me?”
“I’m not ignoring you.”
A salty tear rolled down her face, the incoming breeze hitting her dampened face. She inhaled sharply, her chilled skin becoming slimy and cold to the touch.
Brian wouldn’t know that, though, he hadn’t touched her in days. Weeks, even.
She had wanted to say that his words were malicious, with venom dripping from his tone, like some sort of acid was coating his vocal cords.
But they weren’t. His voice never raised a damn octave, staying completely neutral. And it was driving her mad.
“Then what is this, Brian?”
“I’m collecting my thoughts.”
She laughed, the sound lacking its usual melodic intonation that the guitarist adored so much. He was the reasoning behind the dry chuckle, that much he knew, and he hated it. God, how he despised it. But, he would never let it show. How could he, when he was the initiator of the (extremely childish, now that he thought over it) conflict to begin with? He knew his accusation was emptier than the large building they resided in, and he knew that the results would be horrendous.
But jealousy was an ugly green parasite that had rooted itself in Brian May’s heart, slowly consuming him from the inside out. It was like a devil that rested on his left shoulder, insisting that she was unfaithful, taking advantage of his extended leaves. He foolishly acted on the devil’s words, which led to where they were now.
“Well, how long do you need to ‘collect your thoughts’?” She folded her leg under her opposite thigh, leaning towards him, the distance of only a few feet feeling like worlds away to her broken heart. She would always be drawn to him like some sort of magnet, no matter how badly he hurt her.
“I’m not sure, would you like me to do so elsewhere?”
A beat passed.
“Why, so you can go shag someone else, just like I apparently have been?”
Again, silence.
“You were gone for 3 hours every night on every Tuesday the past month-“
“You kept track? You’re out of your damn mind.” She raised her voice, sitting up, suddenly enraged with his obsessive distrust rather than saddened.
“That’s not important-“
“What’s important is that you’re gone on tour for 10 times as long as that, leaving me here completely alone to my own devices! I trust you enough to believe that you remain mine while you’re away, but for some unknown reason, you can’t manage to think the same about me.”
His flippancy on the issue at hand agitated her (or his lack thereof in general, she supposed) to no end. She wanted him to scream and cry, to throw something, to loudly shout, to shed fury fueled tears as she had. She knew it was wrong, but quite frankly she didn’t care.
He tried to speak up for himself, stuttering out something about how he did in fact trust her, but all to no avail. She would have none of it, not now.
“What’s important, Brian, is that every Tuesday, I’m staying 3 hours after work to try to make it so that I don’t have to rely on you for money, because I don’t want you to think even for a moment I’m with you just because you’re some incredibly famous rockstar who happens to be loaded!”
She was standing now, although she couldn't quite remember bringing her body from the comforts of the soft chair by the mantle to her feet. The roaring fire beside her had died down into a flurry of golden embers, heat still radiating from the pile of charred logs, Brian failing to provide even a fraction of the same warmth.
“Because I love you, and as of late, I’m starting to wonder if you love me too.”
He stood, walking over to where she was in a timely manner, his long legs carrying him quickly. Her breath hitched at their sudden proximity, her surprise only growing when he gripped his hands on either side of her face, pulling her forward and capturing her lips in a long awaited union.
She loathed that her stiff figure was melting into him faster than she would like to admit, and she even more, she loathed the fact she knew she always would.
He was able to taste her tears that hadn’t ceased to roll down her face, the bitter droplets seeping onto the tip of his tongue. He pulled away, his right hand caressing her cheekbone while his forehead rested upon hers. His bottom lip quivered, a wave of emotions hitting him like a hurricane in full force.
His eyes become glassy, and all at once, tears flood his eyesight, pouring down his flushed features. He looked down, shutting his eyes and shaking his head. The bawling didn’t stop as he had hoped, though, it just slowed, the liquid dropping onto her shirt.
“I love you, I love you so much that it hurts. And ’m sorry, I’m so incredibly sorry, darling.”
She smiled softly, lightly massaging the top of his scalp, his locks growing frizzy.
“I know. But it’s just so hard- It seems everyone is getting married, and settling down. Hell, even Fred has his cats.”
They both laughed, and she chewed her bottom lip, a habit of hers that Bri had picked up on in the time he’d known her.
“I just get lonely, Bri, and it feels like you never let me know what’s going on in that pretty head of yours. That’s all, honest to God.”
They moved to sit down, and he pulled closer than they had been in ages.
“I’ll support you in any way shape or form, no matter what, yeah?”
She simply nodded, leaning onto his shoulder.
“Yeah. I know.”
Raising his eyebrows, he cocked his head, choosing his next words carefully.
“And if you’re serious about, y’know, having a family and ‘settling down’ and everything, I’ll do it.”
She met his eyes, her smile growing wider.
“Really?”
He hummed, nodding his head. “I love you, and this house is far too quiet.”
She giggled, tossing her arms around his neck and throwing herself on him.
“I must say I agree.”
After the grins had retreated into soft smiles, and the two had come to a much more stolid point, she sat up, patting her lap.
Brian understood immediately, laying his tired head down and allowing her to play with his hair. She moved her hands to oh so lightly trace the crook of his nose and the bags under his eyes (from the late nights he spent performing, wishing he was in the exact position he was in now), the ticklish feeling making him nuzzle into her hand with a whine.
She couldn’t help but smile at the beautiful boy beneath her, as even with all the work that there was to be done between them, she felt confident that he was in it for the long haul.

Chapter 5 here we go!!!
Frank and his daughters came home about an hour after you did. You were already back in your servant clothes and waiting by the door. You took their cloaks and bags, and began hanging them on the rack in the main hall.
“How was your night?” you asked politely.
“It was a splendid evening, Y/N,” Frank answered. “More than you could ever hope for.”
“I’m sure it was,” you returned, holding back a smirk. If only he knew.
“I’m relieved to see you have not stolen anything else from my wife’s closet,” he sneered.
You shook your head. “No, sir. I wouldn’t dream of it. I’ve been thoroughly educated.”
“Very good,” he said, seeming displeased that he couldn’t goad you.
But nothing could spoil this night. It was perfect.
“Is there anything you need before going to bed?” you asked.
“I’m fine, but you’ll of course help the girls get changed,” he said.
You nodded again. “Absolutely.”
He watched you suspiciously as you followed your step sisters up the stairs. You were calm. Too calm. And you were humming, which you didn’t normally do. Plus the tune was something he had heard somewhere - but no event would have had you in attendance. His frown deepened. Something was up.
***
Gwilym returned to the palace two hours later, empty handed and broken-hearted. Rami and Ben were waiting on the steps for him, but as he walked up, he only shook his head. They sighed, disappointed for their friend. Thankfully, the remaining guests had all gone home.
“Sorry, mate,” Ben said.
“There was no sign of her?” Rami asked.
“No,” Gwilym said. “Even the carriage tracks just seemed to disappear. It was like she just vanished.”
“So, all we’ve got to go on is the shoe?” Ben wondered, holding it up.
Gwilym had only entrusted his best friends with it, and they had kept it from his father.
“It’s made of glass,” Gwilym said. “Which means it only fits her.”
“So what are we gonna do?” Rami asked. “Try the shoe on every woman in the kingdom?”
“Only the single women,” Gwilym said, as if it were obvious.
Rami and Ben shared a surprised look.
“I hope you’re joking,” Ben said.
“Far from it,” Gwilym replied. “I’m going to find that girl, and I’m going to marry her.”
Rami sighed. “Very well, then. But let’s start in the morning.”
“Thank you both,” Gwilym said, relieved. They had every reason to leave now. Both had duties at home, and had done what was socially expected. With the ball over, there was no obligation to stay. “Really.”
“Of course we’re gonna help you,” Ben said. “But I’m with Rami. Starting tomorrow.”
“You guys go on up, I’ll be right behind you,” Gwilym insisted.
His friends shrugged, but did as he requested and went inside. Gwilym remained, holding that glass piece of you carefully in the crook of his arm. He looked out into the night sky, hoping somehow you could feel his desperation.
“I am coming for you, my darling,” he said quietly.
***
You yawned as the sun peered into your room through your curtains. You were feeling unusually light this morning. Like you were still floating just above the ballroom floor. With a contented sigh, you stretched and forced yourself out of bed. Frank and the girls would be needing their breakfast soon, but you knew you had a little extra time today. They’d certainly have a bit of a lie in after the late night.
You threw your dress and apron on. You did a spin around your room, giggling as you imagined Gwilym there with you. Then you had to slow to a stop. It was a fantasy, nothing more. One glorious night. But now it was time to return to reality and your true life. Still, you could cling to the dream for one morning.
Humming to yourself, you put the pot on to boil and began prepping plates for breakfast. You set a pan atop the stove to start some sausages when you heard the jingle of a bell. You looked at the wall. It was coming from Eleanor’s room, so you guessed she was up. You asked Elsie to start the food and went back upstairs to get your step sister dressed. When you reached the landing, you saw Frank emerging from his room, already dressed.
“Good morning,” you said kindly.
“Y/N, what did you get up to last night?” he asked.
“Why, nothing, sir,” you said. “I cleaned up, as you instructed, changed clothes, and got a head start on some other chores. When those were done, I occupied myself by reading.”
He seemed skeptical. “I see. I hope you weren’t reading anything too fanciful. You mustn’t fill your mind with...unrealistic dreams and fantasies.”
Your brow furrowed with confusion. What was he implying?
“No, sir,” you said. “I try to keep everything practical.”
“Good,” he said. “Now get to work.”
You nodded, a bit perplexed, but continued into Eleanor’s room.
***
In the morning, Gwilym was the first up. He hardly slept at all. He wrote a decree for his father to send out, that he and Ben and Rami would be making the rounds through town and the countryside to find the owner of the missing shoe. They would begin today, and search until the prince had found his lost love.
To his shock, the king agreed to this. He read over it at the breakfast table, nodding at each point. The ladies were to try on the shoe and if it fit, it must be the girl who Gwilym met at the ball.
“Very well,” he said. “You’ll begin today?”
“Yes,” Gwilym said. “I want to find her as soon as possible.”
“Alright, son,” the king replied. He looked at the prince and offered a sincere smile. “And best of luck.”
Gwilym beamed. “Thank you, Father!”
And so, they began their search within the palace, where the out of town noble guests were staying. Gwilym had his doubts about those girls because he met them before you even came through the door. But he knew everyone deserved a fair chance. When the shoe fit none of those women, they made their way into town, with a few guards along for protection.
***
Frank received a letter from the palace early in the morning. He looked it over and you saw a flash of...something cross his face. You couldn’t place the emotion though. It seemed almost like a glimmer of hope. His eyes glanced over at you before quickly turning to his daughters.
“Girls, get yourselves looking nice,” he said. “We’ll be having visitors from the palace this afternoon.”
“The palace?” you questioned, without meaning to, but you could hardly help yourself.
“Yes, but that isn’t any of your business, Y/N,” he snapped. “Get my daughters ready and then proceed with your chores as usual. You are not to make your presence known while the visitors are here.”
You nodded apologetically. As you made your way back to the kitchen, you wondered if the visitors Frank referred to could be Gwilym and his father. Was he looking for you? Something in your heart told you he was, but you hardly even dared to hope. Such a thing was the stuff of dreams. And yet, the ball seemed like a dream too, but it was as real as the tea kettle you carried. You began devising a plan.
As the day wore on, you completed your chores quickly. You wanted to prepare yourself as well. Your gut was telling you Gwilym was on his way to take you away from here. And you had all the proof you needed in that slipper that was hidden beneath your bed. So when you finished sweeping the entrance hall, you ran up to your room to get it. Only, when you opened your door, you came to an abrupt stop. Frank was sitting on your bed, holding the slipper by the heel. One wrong move of his fingers and it would fall, risking a break.
“Well, well, well,” he said darkly. “I had a feeling you had made your way to the ball. You’ve been far too dreamy to have had as dull a night as you claim.”
Your heart rate quickened.
“That’s mine,” you said, feeling childish as the words left your mouth. “It was given to me.”
Frank laughed humorlessly. “Oh, likely story. I suppose this is another one of my wife’s things you stole.”
“You cannot stop me from this,” you said, ignoring the accusation. “The prince loves me.”
“Against his better judgement, I believe that’s true,” he admitted.
You blinked, surprised at your step father’s nonchalance about this. Did that mean he would accept it? No. There had to be something else he was getting at.
“As it is, though,” he said. “You’re spoken for.”
You frowned as your stomach dropped.
“What are you talking about?” you asked.
“You’re mine, Y/N,” he said, getting to his feet and straightening his jacket with his free hand. “And mine alone.”
A chill ran down your spine. Was he really saying what you thought he was saying?
“I’m not a slave, Frank,” you said. “I am free to do this.”
“I do not intend to make you my slave,” he said. “I intend to make you my wife.”
Your body went rigid as the blood ran out of your face. The very idea made your stomach churn. The thought of being his wife, sharing his bed, bearing his children...you nearly heaved right there in front of him.
“No,” you said firmly. “I won’t.”
“I’m afraid you don’t have a choice,” he said.
“It’s sick!” you cried. “I’m your daughter!”
“Step daughter,” he said. “I will have this estate, Y/N. You will do for me what your mother could not. My son will be the true and rightful heir, and start a new line.”
“Are you not happy with the children you have?” you wondered, completely rocked to your core. “Why do you insist on a son?”
“Sons are the only useful offspring,” he scoffed. “Daughters are just mouths to feed until you can marry them off, and even then, what’s theirs will never belong to their family. It belongs to their husbands. Well, I am not going to lose everything because my previous wives were too weak to give me what I want.”
“I will not,” you refused again. “I’ll run away.”
“And leave behind your home?” he taunted. “The one your father built so lovingly with your mother?”
“It will no longer be a home to me if I am trapped in such a marriage,” you said.
“I’m not giving you a choice, Y/N,” he sighed. “I’ll keep eyes on you everywhere, I’ll lock you in your room, whatever it takes. Or, you can submit to me now and become mistress of this house as you were born to be.”
“I’ll die before I marry you,” you spat. “I’ll die before I bear any child of yours. I’ll -”
“No need to go on,” he said. He was being alarmingly calm about this. “I know the rest. But you will marry me, Y/N. You will have my son, and you’ll do it all without complaint. Just as you have with everything I have ever given you.”
You blinked again. So everything he’d put you through was a test? A way to manipulate you into obeying his every command? He was...grooming you? Your stomach gave another lurch.
“But first,” he said. “We will need to squash your dreams of Prince Gwilym.”
“What do you -”
He cut off your question by hurling your slipper into the wall. It shattered with a crash, which drowned out your anguished cry. You sank to your knees, hopeless.
“There now,” he said. “I’m only teaching you the harsh lesson of reality.”
Tears fell freely down your cheeks. You heard loud knocking at the front door, but barely registered it.
“That’ll be him,” Frank said.
You snapped to your senses and started to rise for one last desperate escape attempt, but Frank was faster. You felt the blow of his palm against your cheek before you even saw it coming. You fell to the ground, face throbbing. You wanted to scream, or cry, or swing back at him, but you were completely numb from the shock. You couldn’t feel anything but the sting on your skin.
“Do not resist me again, Y/N,” Frank warned.
With that, he walked out of your room, and you heard him turn the lock. You were trapped. You curled into a ball on your floor and wept quietly.
***
Gwilym was relieved when the door finally opened. This was the last house of the day. He saw a man there, whose smile was...unconvincing to say the least. He bowed.
“We are happy to see you, Prince Gwilym,” he said. “I am Frank Tarleton, and I believe one of my daughters is the girl you’re searching for.”
Gwilym raised a brow. “But you don’t know which?”
Frank blinked, taken aback, and then laughed an empty sort of laugh. “Good one, your highness. Please, come in.”
Gwilym looked at Ben and Rami who both shrugged. They followed Frank inside and into the drawing room, where two young women sat on the couch, looking nervous. Ben explained everything, with Frank nodding eagerly along. Something about the man struck Gwilym as slimy. He was too polite, too eager to please, and it seemed even his own daughters were made uncomfortable by him. Gwilym sighed.
“Let’s get this over with,” he mumbled.
He was beginning to lose hope. Who was left, if not these girls? And yet, neither of them struck him as the one he was looking for.
***
You listened carefully at your door, not daring to make any more noise. If Frank returned, he might do worse than strike you. But you could listen to what was happening downstairs.
It was a bit maddening to hear, though. To be so close to Gwilym now, and yet so far. To be a prisoner now in your own home was worse than being a servant. And the worst part was seeing the proof of your identity lying in pieces beside you. You felt like the slipper. Broken. Completely in pieces. Like your dreams too.
You heard the front door open and close again. You went to your window and watched Gwilym mount his horse, his friends on either side of him, and trot away toward town. Was that truly the last time you would see your love?
It couldn’t be. Now, you could hear Frank’s familiar footsteps coming back up the stairs. You knew you had to make a break for it as soon as he opened the door. You braced yourself. You had no time to pack anything, no time to grab money or valuables. You would have to break away with nothing but the clothes on your back and a prayer.
You watched the doorknob turn, feeling as if everything was in slow motion. It creaked slowly open and Frank’s body appeared in the door frame. He reached for you, but you ducked under his arm, darted down the hall, flew down the stairs, and straight out the front door.
You ran. As fast as your legs could carry you, not even daring to look back to see if Frank was in pursuit. You just hurtled toward town, hoping that anyone could help you. You would give up your home, and everything you knew - you would even give up your life - before marrying Frank. You had to escape, even if it meant becoming a beggar.
You burst through the back door of the tavern, tears streaming down your cheeks, and chest heaving. Flying through the kitchen, you threw open the doors to the dining area and found Zelda behind the bar. She looked up at the commotion you were making, took in the sight of you, and her brow furrowed.
“Zelda, please!” you cried, frantic. “I need help!”
You went to her, and she took you in her arms.
“Y/N, what’s -”
She didn’t get to finish her question before Frank came barreling through. He must not have been far behind. You let out a scream. Zelda pushed you behind her and you cowered at her back. She put her arms out to shield you further.
“Zelda, remove yourself if you know what’s good for you,” Frank threatened.
“Don’t, Zelda, please!” you begged. “Don’t let him take me! He’s going to force me to marry him! Please!”
She stiffened in front of you. “Oh, no you don’t, Frank. I will not stand by and let you do this.”
“Stand back or you’re fired,” he warned.
“I don’t care,” she shot back. “I won’t let you have her!”
“I’m afraid it’s not up to you,” he returned harshly.
He grabbed her by the shoulders and tried to move her, but Zelda was a stout woman with considerable strength. She resisted him, taking hold of his biceps and forcing him back several steps. Her advantage was clearly gained by the element of surprise.
“Run, Y/N!” she cried. “Get out of here!”
Panicked, you leapt over the counter and wrenched the door open. You threw yourself out of it, trying to ignore the sounds of the struggle behind you. You darted into the street and sprinted as fast as you could away from the tavern. You had no idea where you would go from here - but you could not stay and be forced into a lifetime of Frank.
You glanced back. To your horror, you saw that Frank was emerging from the tavern and had spotted you right away. With a gasp, you turned back around and sped up. Only, as you turned, you didn’t realize what was in front of you. You ran right smack into a man’s back. The force of the collision put you on your rear in the dirt.
Wincing, you looked up. Your jaw dropped. It was Gwilym!
He met your gaze and froze as well. For a moment, you were both back at the ball, when he’d come up to you on the stairs and asked you to dance. He recognized you instantly.
“It’s you,” he whispered.
You opened your mouth to respond, but a sudden stinging on your scalp caused you to cry out instead. Frank had fisted his hand around your hair and dragged you to your feet.
“Your highness!” he gasped, noticing Gwilym. “I do apologize. My servant here has forgotten her manners.” He looked at you and continued through gritted teeth. “And her place.”
He yanked your hair on the last word for extra emphasis. Gwilym’s chest tightened as he watched Frank manhandle you. He briefly imagined himself drawing his sword and plunging it right into Frank’s chest, but he refrained.
“Release her,” he ordered.
Frank looked at the prince, bewildered.
“I’m sorry?” he questioned.
Gwilym’s expression darkened. “I told you to release her.”
Frank hesitated.
“Now!” Gwilym shouted.
You relaxed when Frank finally let go. Your scalp still itched with soreness. You desperately wanted to throw yourself into Gwilym’s arms but you were still afraid of what Frank might do. You did take a cautious step back.
“Your highness, I’m dealing with an unruly servant girl,” Frank said. “But she is mine and I may do with her as I please.”
Your lip trembled and you shook your head.
“That’s not true,” you sobbed. “You know it’s not, I’m your step daughter and you’re forcing me to -”
“SILENCE!” Frank roared, and raised his hand.
You shrieked and covered your face with your arms. But the blow didn’t come. You peeked out, lowering your shield just barely. Gwilym had taken hold of Frank’s wrist. Rami and Ben, who you just noticed being present, both had their hands on their swords. Now was your chance.
“Don’t let him take me back,” you begged again. “Please, your highness, don’t let him.”
Out of the corner of your eye, you saw Zelda trotting up the street. She halted when she took in the scene before her.
“Sir Tarleton,” Gwilym said, releasing Frank’s arm. “We were at your home and I asked you if you had any more women residing there besides your daughters. You lied.”
“It wasn’t a lie, really,” Frank argued. “Just an omission. You see, there’s no way this girl was at the ball when I forbid her from going.”
“If that’s true, then you are still in trouble,” Gwilym said. “All eligible maidens were to attend.”
“She’s only a servant -”
“I know you’re lying, Tarleton,” Gwilym interrupted. “Now stand down.”
Frank stepped away from the prince, shooting glances between him and you. Gwilym turned to Ben.
“The slipper please, Ben,” he said.
“No!” Frank protested, starting toward you, but Rami stopped him.
Ben handed Gwilym the slipped you’d left behind on the staircase. You wiped your cheeks, clearing away the dirt and tears, and held your prince’s gaze. You smiled at him.
“I knew you were the girl from the tavern,” he said gently. “I knew I recognized you.”
“And the cemetery,” you reminded him.
“Yes,” he chuckled. “I remember.”
“How did someone like you even notice someone like me?” you wondered, amazed.
“Because you are the most beautiful person I’ve ever met,” he told you simply. “Inside and out. And from that moment in the cemetery I saw what you truly are - a princess.”
You flushed, looking bashfully at the ground.
“I’m not really a -”
“Maybe not by birth,” he said. “But in heart.”
You met his eyes again. Those eyes that from the first time you saw them, told you the kindness of this man’s soul.
He knelt down onto one knee, holding out the slipper. It made you ache for the lost one Frank smashed, but you were relieved that you had left one behind at the palace. You toed off your boot and raised your leg. Ben stepped closer to help you balance and you shot him a grateful look. Then, you slid your delicate foot into the glass slipper. It fit perfectly.
Gwilym’s face lit up like a firework. Ben let go of your hand as Gwilym laughed, took you up in his arms and spun you around. You giggled with joy as well. He lowered you gently to the ground.
“Now, will you please tell me your name?” he asked.
You chuckled. “It’s Y/N.”
“Y/N,” he repeated, and cupped your cheek in his palm. “How beautiful.”
“No!” Frank shouted again, and this time Rami had to grab him to stop him. “No! You cannot take her from me!”
“The girl does not belong to you,” Gwilym said sternly. He turned and faced Frank. “I see very clearly now that you have been mistreating her. She is free to choose whatever she likes.”
“I’m her father!” Frank insisted.
“Step father,” you said. Then you looked up at Gwilym. “I choose you, my love.”
“I’m glad to hear it,” he replied. “Sir Tarleton, you’ll be taken into custody.”
Frank’s eyes went wide as the guards moved to take him from Rami. They clapped iron rings around his wrists. He seemed too shocked to struggle.
“Take him to the dungeon to await trial for his crimes,” Gwilym instructed. He faced you again. “And you, my darling, may come with me to the palace.”
“For how long?” you wondered.
“Forever, if you wish it,” he assured you.
“I could hardly wish for more,” you said happily.
He took your hand and helped you onto his horse. Together, you headed for safety, and building a life together. In true love.
***
You and Gwilym married as soon as possible. The whole kingdom was thrilled at the wedding. Frank was tried and convicted for his abuse, but would not serve a life sentence, so instead of prison, he was banished from the kingdom. Even so, early in your marriage to Gwilym, you frequently had nightmares where your stepfather returned.
Gwilym was as loving and patient a partner as you could hope for. He let you talk through your trauma, and he made sure to never do anything that caused you fear. His support helped you to truly heal.
Your step sisters had to move from the estate, which was now yours entirely. Eleanor and Miranda were surprisingly happy to take over their father’s first business, the tavern, which they ran successfully with Zelda. They both eventually found merchant husbands and lived peacefully, and you were genuinely happy for them.
But the greatest joy Gwilym ever gave you was your children. You had two boys and two girls, and they were the light of the whole kingdom’s eye - but especially the king, who lived a long and healthy life with his grandchildren. You had no other description for your life besides happily ever after.

Summary: Six of you go to a castle to hunt some ghosts only you get into a bit of bother and a skeptial Brian saves you.
Warnings: lots of mentions of death, swearing, suicide mentioned, slight suggestiveness, some angst, fluffy ending (?😏?), technically breaking and entering which is apparently against the law but you never fuckin saw people/dogs like scooby doo and the gang getting into trouble for that sort of stuff did you now...
A/N: This is actually creeped me out a little because I wrote it in the dark so that was A+ logic. Also Joe/John gives me v strong Shane Madej from Buzzfeed Unsolved vibes idk why but you're gonna see that in this fic. Enjoy! 💖
Tumblr media
Brian shut his eyes and let out a sigh "You cannot be serious." He said looking at all the electrical equipment on the table in front of him. "You and Rog actually believe in this rubbish enough to buy all this stuff and this board thing?!" He said, holding up the board that had letters on it.
"It's not just any board Brian- it's a Ouija board! You use it to communicate to the dead!" You grinned. "And Roger isn't the only one who believes in it! John, Freddie and Mary and coming along with us this time! C'mon! Come with us!" You shook him slightly. When Brian first met you- aside from being absolutely amazed by you and your beauty- he had no idea what you and your best friend Roger would have in common- the two of you were complete opposites. What you did have in common shocked Brian- mainly because he thought it was ridiculous.
Ghost hunting.
You had been friends with Roger since he moved to Cornwall. The pair of you first had a paranormal experience while in the school library. The school was used as a hospital during the wars and people did die in it. The pair of you were discussing something when you both saw a chair being dragged, but no one had their hand on it. After the moment of sheer fear, the pair of you were in awe and since that day you had learned all you could about the paranormal from books and newspapers. The two of you went into the spookiest of places to try and find anything paranormal.
"Would it make you happy if I went on this absurd trip to the supposedly haunted graveyard and church in the middle of the night?" Brian asked, leaning back on the sofa and crossing his arms with a small smile on his face. You sat on his lap and he wrapped his arms around your waist while yours wrapped around his neck and played with his hair while nodding with a grin on your face and batting your lashes. Brian couldn't resist you- you knew that. "Alright!" You squealed and peppered kisses on is cheeks "But I'm going to complain the whole time!"
You rolled your eyes "Well, it might just surprise you! In fact, you might even want to tag along to our visit to an abandoned castle at the end of the month!" You kissed him once, then again, then again- only the third time you did it, your lips never left Brian's and he moaned into your mouth.
"I can think of something we can do just now in the dark..." he murmured seductively.
"Oh really...?" You playfully smiled and stood up, pulling Brian with you. The phone rang and you groaned, crashing against Brian's chest. You reached for it but Brian pulled you back, making you giggle. "Stop! Might be important!" You managed to get the phone. "Hey John!" You sat down next to the phone and your brows furrowed. "No you do not need to take a bath in holy water before we head to the graveyard," you looked up to Brian shaking your head with a smile and rolling your eyes. "It's kinda like seance, yes..." you looked up through your lashes to Brian who raised a brow. "Kinda." Brian held out his hand, silently asking you for the phone "Bri wants to talk to you!"
"Hey mate, can we talk about this tomorrow morning? Only I'm trying to get off with my gorgeous girlfriend-"
"BRIAN!" You screamed and giggled, stealing the phone back "Sorry, John! Sorry!" You laughed and tried swatting Brian's roaming hands away from your legs. "We'll see you tomorrow night! Bye!" You hung up and burst into a fit of giggles. "I swear, Brian!" You cupped his face with a huge smile "You better live up to your words!" He bit down on his lip with the corners of his mouth tugging upwards as he picked you up in his arms and carried you to the bedroom.

"Got the EVP?" Roger asked and you nodded. "EMF meter?" He asked and you pulled it out from your backpack to show him. "Alright then!" He capped his hands with a grin and then rubbed them together. "Time to hunt some ghosts!"
You walked beside Mary who seemed genuinely interested in the whole experience. "What is an EVP and EMF?" She asked.
"Well, an EVP stands for 'electronic voice phenomenon' it records and interprets spirt voices. An EMF meter shows us the electric magnetic field. If something gets closer to the EMF meter, the lights light up, the closer the object- the more it lights up and beeps!" You smiled and showed her the little gauge on the piece of equipment. "We also all have our cameras to try and capture any orbs in the graveyard!" She nervously but excitedly grinned and clutched onto your arm. When you arrived at the graveyard you took a few snaps with her and John.
"Oh my god! Look!" He shone the light from his torch on the photo and showed everyone. "There's the little orb dot things!" He ecstatically squeaked.
Brian rolled his eyes with a sigh "That could be anything, John! Flies, little bugs, dust..."
You and Roger shared a glance "Brian's a skeptic..." you uttered.
"Of course he is- it's Brian." Roger retorted back with a smirk. "Let's take a couple more photos before heading inside the church." You went around the place with John and Mary who were loving the whole experience of creeping around in a graveyard in the middle of the night. Once you had taken a few snaps, you all went inside and stood at the end of the alter. You and Roger set up some of the equipment you had brought. He turned on the EVP and another recorder and then you all turned off your torches, being plummeted into darkness. The only source of light was coming from the moonlight that streamed through broken bits of window. "Okay, Freddie, do you want to ask if anyone's here?"
He widely grinned "Alright! Hello there, darlings! How are we tonight?" He called out and created a bit of an echo. You didn't get a reply. "John, do you want to say anything?" Freddie asked him.
John blinked and looked around, he could barely see a thing. "Uh...hey there demons it's me...John Richard Deacon. I'd like to know why you haven't taken me yet." You all raised a brow at him. "I think everyone's looking at me kinda funny just now so it would be good to pick me up or scratch me or slam me into the ceiling- yeah...now would be the best opportunity for that. Do try and kill me."
"John!" Roger hissed "Take this seriously!" John sniggered slightly. "Brian, why don't you ask a question or ask a spirt to do something?"
Brian didn't believe in any of it, but made the effort for you. "Okay...if anyone is here with us, let yourselves be known by knocking twice." Silence. "Y/N, I told you this-"
Knock. Knock.
You heard everyone, including Brian gasp. You gasped yourself with a huge grin on your face. Roger grabbed you and excitedly shook you. Brian went as white as a sheet. Surely there was a logical explanation behind it. "If anyone is there, could you please come closer and give us your name!" You asked and the EMF meter buzzed and two lights flashed, then three. "Do you have a name? How old are you?" You called out. More silence followed and Brian's heartbeat was returning back to normal. That was until you all clearly heard the number seven being said. You glanced to Roger and then to the EMF meter, the lights reached up to five. "What's your name?" You asked again. "Ow! Brian!" You snapped feeling him tightly squeezing your hand "That hurt!"
"What?!" He squeaked out "I didn't touch you!" He soon did touch you- clutched onto you in fact when you all thought you heard the faintest giggle float through the air. "Surely this isn't happening?" He said in a quiet voice.
"Have I summoned a demon?" John didn't actually sound all that worried about if he did summon one or not.
"No," you sighed and grabbed the newspaper clippings from your bag about the church. You shone your torch on them. "Look here! 'Girl, 7, named locally as Janet Riley...tragically passes away in church fire...'" your voice grew quieter and you felt a tear slip down your cheek. "I think it's enough for tonight, Rog." You said with a sinking heart.
"We're actually getting somewhere though, Y/N!" He said, estatically.
"Roger," Your voice was a little shaky "She's just a girl..." you whispered. Brian sighed, placing a hand on Roger's shoulder. Roger knew it was time to call it a night but this had been your first big find in years- and everyone was with the two of you to share the experience. But he understood. You all packed up your things and decided to head home- it was one think contacting the dead, but knowing it was a child always broke your heart.
"Goodbye, spirt!" Mary called out with a small smile on her face "God- that was liberating! My heart is pounding!" You smiled and linked arms with her as you all headed back to the car with everyone.
"Still a skeptic?" You asked Brian back in the car. "How can you explain what just happened?"
Brian had just about regained composure. "The mind is a funny thing, Y/N, and in places like that with stories like the ones in the newspaper- our minds and imaginations run wild! There's always reasoning and a logical explanation behind stuff like this." You disappointedly nodded, you respected and understood his point of view. "But I'll come with you to the castle at the end of the month." You grinned and wrapped your arms around his neck and gave him a hug, your face being engulfed by his curly hair.
"I promise you won't be disappointed!"
•••
"Gilbert castle!" You pointed to it in the distance while driving. "Rog and I have been wanting to come here for years! There's a story behind it! Tell them Roger!"
Roger turned in his seat to face everyone. "There was a man, Jack Gilbert, who lived here and was madly in love with a girl called Elise, she loved him too. His mother disapproved though and when he went off to war she told the girl a few weeks later he had died. Elise was so broken hearted- she cried every night and the mother was so annoyed by it that she locked her in the basement of the castle. She kept crying constantly and the mother left the castle for a while just to get away from the crying. When she returned just before Jack came back- there wasn't any crying. Elise had died in the basement. Jack came home and found out what happened and then he threw himself from the balcony at the very top of the stairs." They all murmured incoherently under their breaths. "His mother saw him flying through the air. She saw him do it. The grief was too much for her and she took her own life too- not in the castle however. She left and went to another family estate in Wales."
"Jesus Christ," Brian uttered and placed his head in his hand. "And we're going here because...?"
"Ghosts!" You and Roger replied at the same time.
"Don't worry Bri," you looked at him via the rearview mirror "I'm sure there will be a logical explanation to everything..." you sarcastically uttered.
"Can I summon a demon again?" John asked.
Roger glared at him "How many times do we have to tell you that you didn't summon a demon?!"
John shook his head with pursed lips "Technically we don't know if it was a demon or not because we didn't hang about for long enough to find out..." he looked out the window. "God, I wish we did." Freddie sent John a concerned glance while Roger rolled his eyes with a sigh. When you pulled up to the castle and distributed equipment to everyone, you all went inside.
It was still just as grand as the day it was abandoned- there was plenty of cobwebs and dust about but all the furniture was still in place. You all fixated your eyes on the high, broken balcony on top of the staircase, they then slowly moved down and stopped at the floor. A chilling reminder of why you were here. "Why don't we split into two groups?" You suggested "I'll go with Brian and John. Rog, you can go with Fred and Mary." They all hummed in agreement and the three of you headed upstairs while the others headed down to the basement. "Look at the art," you whispered and brushed your fingers over the dusty works in the hallway, shining your light over a piece and narrowing your eyes. "Looks like he has your hair, Bri..." you smirked and Brian walked over, letting out a snort of laughter then feeling his stomach drop when he saw the name of the person in the painting.
"Jack Gilbert..." he said in a low tone and sent you a nervous looking gaze before moving on down the hall.
You looked at another piece and John gasped right in your ear, giving you a fright. "Fucking hell, John!" You quietly snapped, clutching on to your chest. "Don't creep up on me like that!"
"That's Elise! She looks just like you, Y/N!" He said, looking between you and the painting.
You rolled your eyes "She looks nothing like me! Think you need to book yourself in for an eye test!" You chuckled. Suddenly all the lights came on and the three of you jumped at the sudden burst of brightness.
"Guys!" Roger shouted from downstairs- you could just hear him. "We found the generator! We got some light!" You turned off your torch.
"I can't believe the electricity is still working in a place like this..." you uttered and kept walking down the hall. You took out your EMF reader but didn't have a reading yet. John wandered into a room with Brian following him. You went into the one just before it. It looked like a bedroom. It was beautifully decorated- nothing looked out of place. It was as if time had stood still. Then you felt a chill down your arms.
Roger, Freddie and Mary had made it to the basement. Mary jiggled the door handle "It's locked," she sighed and folded her arms.
"That's alright," Roger cockily smirked "I have a multipurpose key- one size fits all!"
Freddie furrowed his brow. "Didn't you say that about your bits once?"
The drummer pointed at him "Not the time or the place, Freddie...but yes."
"Where's the key?" Mary asked.
Roger moved his hands up and down his torso. "You're looking at it!" Roger then body slammed against the door a couple of times, grunting. "Jesus...that's a tough door!" He did it a few more times before letting out a loud groan when the lock burst and the door opened. A gust of cool air rushed passed the three of them. "Whoa..." Roger murmured and they all rubbed their arms. "It's freezing down here!"
You turned around quickly hearing breathing and then a name being said. "Hello?" You whispered. "Is anyone there?" You asked glancing to the EMF. The lights were flashing but there wasn't any noise coming from it.
"Elise?" You stood frozen in fear when you turned and saw a tall figure standing in front of you. He almost looked like Brian with his curly hair. "My love..." the figure reached his hand out and brushed his cold, hard fingers against your jaw. You screamed as loud as you possibly could and everyone heard you, jumping on the spot at the terrifying noise. Brian turned to see if you were behind him- he thought you were...you weren't. He looked to John and they both ran to where the noise was coming from.
"Y/N?" He ran towards you just as you fell forward with open eyes- it looked like you were being pulled by thin the air. When you crashed against Brian's body, you snapped back to reality and quickly pulled back.
"Brian?!" His hands were still holding your arms while John was standing by his side watching the whole ordeal. "Wh-where is he? He was right..." you pressed your hand against Brian's chest "Right here..." Brian sighed and shook his head, he knew you were taking the piss- you were a good actor when you wanted to be. Your eyes flickered up to the door and tears began to well in them. The figure was standing by it peering around the frame- he almost looked afraid and a little jealous. "He's right behind you..." you whispered with a tear rolling down your cheek. John was too paralysed with fear to glance behind him whereas Brian was unconvinced and unimpressed with your little act.
"Stop messing about. It was scary when you screamed, I'll give you that, but now-" Brian stopped talking when he heard the floorboard creak and saw a shadow in the window. He looked at you with wide eyes.
"I told you..." you whispered. John scampered out and Brian grabbed your hand, pulling you out of the room. Your hand slipped from his grip and the door slammed shut. "Brian!!" You banged against the door. "Brian!"
"Y/N!" He tried to open it, frantically twisting and turning the doorknob with trembling fingers. "Hold on! Get back from the door!" He tried to knock it down but the door was much harder than it looked.
Roger, Freddie and Mary ran upstairs when they heard the scream. They stopped in their tracks when they noticed a figure standing by the staircase. "Y/N? Where did you find that dress!" Mary laughed at the attire. "We thought you were upstairs with the boys?" She asked before John's hollering caught their attention.
"Guys! Brian needs our help!" He shouted out and the three of them ran upstairs.
"What's the matter?" Freddie asked seeing Brian throw himself against the door.
"It's Y/N, she's locked in the room!" Roger, Freddie and Mary burst out laughing. "What the fuck is so funny?!" Brian snapped and they all abruptly stopped laughing. "She's locked in there!"
"Brian," Roger stepped forward "We've just seen Y/N downstairs barely a minute ago..." Brian stopped slamming against the door. Fear was flowing through everyone's veins. Roger ran up to the door and harshly banged his fist against it. "Y/N? It's Rog! Y/N?!" The panic and worry was evident in his voice. They all heard a loud thud- you had been knocked to the ground by a force that appeared from thin air. You grabbed onto your chest with a groan when you felt a chill run right through your soul. "Fuck!" He uttered "Let's batter this down." He and Brian managed to open the door after six attempts. When they opened the door- you were gone.
"If that wasn't Y/N downstairs...then who was it?" Mary whispered with a trembling lip.
•••
"I am not the person you think I am..." you said while releasing a breath, you were sitting in another part of the castle- it seemed to be a library and it felt like you had floated through the rooms to get there. The figure was looking at you with a fond, yet concerned, smile. "This isn't happening," you sobbed out with tears streaming down your face. The mix of scared yet amazed emotions running through you were overwhelming. "I'm not her...I'm not Elise."
"My love," Jack whispered, you could see a trickle of blood on his pale forehead as he kneeled before you and took your hands. He was frozen and felt stiff. He pulled you off the chair and pushed you forward a little. "Just look at yourself in the mirror..." you looked into the one in front of you with Jack standing behind you, a small smile appearing on your face before it fell. You felt as if you were slipping in and out of your own body. "Now we can finally be together- my mother can't stop us. The dress is there, my love. Let us be together...for the rest of eternity." He slipped his fingers between the gaps of yours- the coldness didn't faze you anymore...it almost felt natural.
"Where the fuck could she have gone, Roger?!" Brian snapped in a state of panic. He was petrified that something terrible had happened. "You know this is all your bloody fault!" He pointed accusingly at Roger.
"My fault?!" Roger pressed his hand against his chest at the incredulous statement. "No way! We are all in this shit storm together! We are all ghost hunting here!" Roger pointed at the group, his blood-drained face reddening a little as he shouted.
"Ghosts don't fucking exist!" Brian yelled. Freddie wrapped a comforting arm around him. "What the hell is happening?!" He groaned into his hands and wiped away the tears. "I just want her back. I want to know she's safe!"
John shook his head with a sigh before a flash of white at the very end of the long hallway captured his attention. "Y/N?" He whispered before realisation dawned on him that the figure he had just seen really was you wearing a wedding dress. "Oh fuck! Y/N! It's Y/N!" He yelled and everyone ran towards you.
"Y/N NO!" Mary screamed seeing you inches away from the ledge of the broken balcony that was leading to the sheer drop below. You found yourself fighting with someone else inside you as you turned around to face everyone.
"Y/N..." Brian whispered out with tears rolling down his cheeks. "Love, what are you doing?"
"Jack..." you said in a voice that wasn't yours. "He's waiting for me...down there." You said and went to move forward again.
"No! No! No!" Roger grabbed you and pulled you back. Brian and John ran down the stairs and froze on the spot seeing what looked like Brian's reflection standing across from them when in fact it was the ghost of Jack Gilbert. "Y/N stop!" Roger snapped and your arms flew all over the place. Roger stumbled back into Freddie while you fell back off the staircase balcony. Your dress made a slight whooshing sound through the air as Mary let out a blood curdling scream while the boys gasped in fear and shock- Brian never. Brian quickly reacted and managed to catch you, falling to the floor with a loud grunt as he did. Everyone ran downstairs, keeping an eye on both you and the ghostly apparition.
"Y/N!" Brian tapped your face as you lay in his lap "Y/N, wake up!" He sobbed, his taps becoming softer. "Don't...don't...do this..." he sobbed out "You don't know how much I love you." His tears fell onto your face and he brushed them away. "Wake up, love..." he whispered.
You gasped and felt your chest rise as you came to and felt the chill leave your soul. "Brian?" You whispered. He happily sobbed and scooped you up, almost squeezing the life out of you with a hug. He pulled back to with a wide smile before looking up behind you, his smile slowly falling. You followed his line of vision and saw two people standing there holding hands and lovingly smiling at each other. A tear slipped down your cheek as you softly grinned at the two of them.
Jack looked down at you sympathetically "I thought you were my Elise..." he said and glanced to the woman beside him before looking back to you. "I am terribly sorry."
"It's alright," you lowly spoke. Roger and John were standing with their jaws wide open and Mary was warily standing behind an amazed Freddie. Brian was still tightly and protectively holding you. "At least you're both together again..."
They both bowed their heads at you ever so slightly. "We thank you for reuniting us." Elise spoke in the softest of voices "And for finally setting me free," she looked to Roger who could only nod with a dry mouth, he was numb with shock and wonder. "Now we can both move on and be together...for the rest of eternity." They fondly smiled at one another before heading down the corridor arm in arm, vanishing into the darkness.
After being frozen on the spot for a few seconds- everyone ran back to the car. Brian had scooped you up in his arms and carried you bridal style- which if you weren't so paralysed with shock from what just happened, you would have laughed at how ironic it was that you were wearing a wedding dress and he was carrying you like that. You all stayed silent for most of the journey back home- each of you processing what just happened in your own way. "Why did she...attach herself to you?" John quietly asked and leaned forward "Was it a demon?"
He looked to you for an answer. "Some ghosts," you emphasised with a small glare "feel they need to posses another persons body in order to continue on. Elise thought by using my body as a vessel, she could get to Jack and be with him but that wasn't the case. It was just a mistake." You thinly smiled.
"A mistake that almost cost you your life!" Brian was holding your hands and still full of worry. "I thought you died," he had tears welling in his eyes. "Please don't hunt ghosts again..."
Roger's eyes flickered to you, he knew you wouldn't pack it in over something as wild as that- in fact it only encouraged you even more to pursue looking for them. "I don't think I could ever do that, Brian." He huffed and Roger smiled. "Oh don't be like that! Can you believe what we just experienced? All of us?! We could do this all the time- together! Don't you want to find more? Don't you want to know what's out there?!" You asked with so much passion in your eyes that it almost made Brian's heart burst. He wasn't sure if it was that passion that was doing it for him or you in a wedding dress but he leaned forward and crashed his lips to yours. Roger let out a long groan at the sight- he always found it weird seeing his two best friends being all lovey-dovey. Brian pulled back and you turned to Mary and Freddie "You guys in?" The nodded with beaming smiles. "I already know your answer, Rog." You smirked and then faced John "What do you say, Deaks?"
"I say this guy is going to finally find a demon!" He pointed his two thumbs at himself and shook them while wiggling his brows with a wide grin.
"Okay..." you trailed off with a cautious smile- Mary narrowed her eyes at John and murmured something to Roger about demonic possession...and if John was showing signs. You turned to Brian again. "Well love, it's just you....you in?" You asked with a hopeful look in your eyes.
He looked at everyone else- they were now staring at him, waiting for an answer. He looked at you and smiled. "Think my days of being skeptical are behind me," he kissed you. "So are we going to a haunted house or getting married first?" He joked with a wink and you giggled. He soon became serious and intertwined his fingers with yours. "Try not to scare me like that again..."
"I'll try," you smiled and kissed him. "Now...I hate to be the one that says: 'I told you so' but...told you ghosts are real." Brian narrowed his eyes at you and playfully jabbed your sides. When you arrived back to your flat in London- everyone stayed the night. They were still in shock. Brian noticed your deep in thought look as you both lay on the bed- John was softly snorning by the foot of it on a blowup mattress. "It's funny how they looked liked us..." you whispered and turned to him. "Do you think-" you began talking but stopped yourself from continuing. Brian encouraged you to carry on. "Do you think it's a sign for us...? Like way forward in the future when we're no longer here?" You whispered with a tear rolling down your cheek.
Brian softly smiled and wiped away your tear. "I think it just goes to show that love like Jack's and Elise's...and ours," he pecked your lips and gently cupped your cheek "Will last for an eternity."

Finaly summer and you know what that means. Nice weather, staying up late listening to music. And just playing around in general, but summer also ment swimming of course.
Y/n had invited Brian and roger along to go to the beach. John had gone away with his wife on holyday while Freddie stayed at home with his boyfriend jim.
She stood outside freddie's house where they spent the night prior and beeped the horn of her car.
Tumblr media
Freddie opend up the window "Oh y/n are you here to pick up roger and Brian?"
"Yes i am we are suposed to go to the beach, could you sent them down?"
"Yeah sure, hey! Your taxi is here you better hurry up And don't keep the lady waiting! They are on their way" he smiled
"Thanks Fred, if i find some Nice shels i take them with me for you"
"Thank you y/n you are an absolute sweetheart" he blew her a kiss. At that moment both Brian and roger walked out the front door and placed their stuff in the back of the car. "Ah there They are".
Jim stood behind Freddie and waved "have fun you three and stay safe near the shore, they said that the waves could be quite high at this time of year".
"Don't worry we will be fine"
"Alright have fun" jim and Freddie closed the window.
"Hey boys" she grind and opend the pasenger side door. Brian sat down next to her.
"Hello y/n"
"Hello doll" said roger as he sat down behind her and kissed her cheek "Nice car"
"Thanks Roger it was my dad's car i got it for my birthday a year ago
"Oh Nice do you know what type it is?"
"If im correct its a Tri-Power… 1958 Bonneville convertible" she started the car and drove of towards the beach (idk where the beach is located but lets pretent its 30 minuts away or so)
"Oh verry Nice indeed" he said and placed his sunglasses on his face And leaned back against the Seat.
"So did you two have a good night at Fred his home?"
This time Brian spoke up "yeah it was alright we watched some telly and drank and eat some Nice food thats all."
"Hmm intresting you two wernt intruding to fred and jim their relation ship wernt you two?"
"Oh god no y/n"
"Just joking bri just joking" she laught, y/n focused on the road again "we will be there in 10 minuts i think"
"Yes finaly swimming"
"Calm down roger" Brian laught
Just as y/n had promiced they had arived in 10 minuts at the beach "We have arived". Roger jumped over the side of the car and grabed the beach ball and placed it in the sand. He pulled his shirt and pants off under it weren his swimming trunks. Brian and y/n did the same. (What you Brian and roger wear )
Tumblr media
"Nice shorts guys" she huged Brian from behind
"Looking very Nice yourself princess"
"Why thank you" she plucked the sunglasss from roger his face and put them on "oh wow thats to mutch"
Roger grabed his glases from her hands and put them back on "that are my presciption sunglasses sweetheart"
"I should have known, Anyway lets go and play some beach vollyball"
"Alright who against who?"
"Um me against roger first and then you against roger and then me against you, how does that sound?"
"Sure sounds good, i'll keep the points"
"Alright" y/n nodded and waited thil roger was ready "you are going so down blondie"
"Ha! You think (your nickname)"
"Alright start" y/n trew up the ball and shot it over the net. It went a few times and then she shot it to the ground.
"Outch"
"Roger are you alright?"
"Yeah i am don't worry" he smiled. Once the game between y/n and roger was over she won with 5 against 3.
"Alright your turn brian" brian took her place and took his stand. "Ready?"
"Yep" he nodded
"Alright may the best win"
"Its on poodle"
"Hey! Oh you are so going to get it rog" he smirked
The boys played for about 6 minuts thill it was over. It was 4 against 4.
"Alright who makes the next point wins" they both noded, Brian threw up the ball over the net. It went over and over for about 1 minut. Roger won
"Yes!"
"Well done rog, now you and me bri" they both took their stands once again and started the game. Once again 6 minuts later the game was over Brian had won by 5 against 3
"Good game y/n" he smiled
"Thanks" she wiped her face with a towel "Man its really hot ugh"
"Want to go swimming?"
Y/n took off her hat and placed it in her car "Yes i would love to" they all walked to the sea. "Cold cold cold"
Both Brian and roger laughed "yeah no shit y/n"
"Shut up rog" she laughed and splased him
"Hey! My hair, you are going to pay"
"Then you have to get me first." She ran further in to the water
"Be carefull the waves can be quite high" but y/n and roger dint hear him "guys come back don't go to far!"
Y/n had gone in thil her shoulders "try to get me now roger!"
"Roger she really needs to come back" Brian looked concerned
"Y/n! Come back its not save!"
"What?!" All of a sudden a big shadow fell over her, a big wave crashed in to her taking her under.
"Y/n!!" Both roger and Brian screamed as they tried to get to her
Y/n tried to swim up but couldnt wave after wave crashed in on her. She tried to breath but instead she took a big gulp of water in. Y/n was panicking and couldnt breath. She thought of brian and roger how she was going to leave them behind now. Y/n let go of her last breath as the sank to the bottom.
Roger and brian swam to her once they reached her, roger went under and picked her out the water. Both Brian and roger got back to the shore "brian go get help i try cpr we need a ambulance" Brian nodded and ran to get help
"God y/n please don't die on us" roger was literaly crying while trying to push the life back in to her chest. He pinched her nose close and put mouth to mouth "come on! You can't do this to us" all the while he continued to give her cpr.
The sound of sirens filled the air as the ambulance came to a hald on the beach two paremedics climbed out. At the same time Brian ran back to roger "is she alright?!"
"No i still don't have a respond" roger was crying But still preforming cpr
"We will take it from here sir" both the paremedics placed her on the brancard and started to weel her fast to the ambulance
"Can we come with you please?"
"If you drive after us then its fine but we can't take you with us in the ambulance
"Thank you" roger looked up "brian you need to drive i can't"
"Alright, but calm down now roger she's in good hands" Brian huged roger close and rubbed his back "im concerned to but y/n is one tough cookie"
Roger laught a bit " yeah she is..... we should go now" they both walked to the car Brian put the key in and turned it so they went after the ambulance. Once they arived they weeled her in to a hospital room.
In the back of the ambulance they were able to pump the water out of her lungs and get her to breath again, she wasn't conciouse but it was a good sign or so they hope.
Roger and Brian had to wait outside the room where y/n lay because they were doing some tests on her, so they decided to call John and Freddie
"Hello John deacon speaking"
"Hey John its me"
"Oh hey Brian hows everything?"
"It really could be better, we are at the hospital"
John sat up straight "hospital? Why whats wrong?"
"Its Y/n she almost drowned" it was silence on the other end "john?"
"Im on my way right now" and the phone hang up
He turned to roger "john is on his way can you call Freddie?"
"Sure" roger grabed the phone from Brian his hand and dialed Freddie his number
It rang a few times thill he picked up "with freddie Mercury how can i help you?"
"Oh fred thank god you are still home"
"You sound panicked roger whats wrong?"
"We are in the hospital, we were at the beach and we were messing around but y/n almost drowned because of our stuppid antics and..... we almost lost her"
As same with John, roger was met by silence "me and jim are on our way"
"Thanks you see you then"
About 20 minuts later john, Freddie and jim had arived at the hospital, they were waiting for the doctor to give a clear sign so that they could go in and see her.
A doctor walked in to the waiting room "wel we have good news and bad news, the good news is we managed to get all the water out of her lungs and she's breathing on her own, the bad news is that she's still unconsiouse"
"Oh thank goodness" brian placed a hand over his heart
"We did a couple of tests to see if there was anything ells like damege to the lungs but thats not the case, once she wakes up And taken care off she can go home"
"Thank you doctor, may we please see her?"
"Of course, if there is anything needed let us know"
"Thank you we will" the group walked in to the room, it was pretty light in there, it looked like they had walked in to heaven, John and Brian grabed a chair and sat down next to the bed while roger, Jim and freddie sat down at the table near the window.
"We should never have gone to the beach, this is all my fault"
"Roger don't be to harsh on yourself, it could have happend to anyone" Freddie placed his hand on Roger his shoulder
"But im the idiot who chased her in, im at fault"
Brian spoke up "rog it really isnt we all should have been more carefull, but like the doctor said everything will be alright, she just needs to wake up, and she will we just got to wait"
"Mabey you are right" he sighed and placed his hand under his chin and looked out the window.
A few hours had gone by without any indecation of her yet waking up, so they decided to leave and get some food, during the time they were gone y/n started to stire and wake up
"Ugh were am i? Why does my chest hurt so mutch" y/n blinked a few times against the light "this isnt my bedroom" she tried to sit up but couldnt because of the pain, plastic patches were put on her chest that were conected to the heart monitor she looked at them confused "what the hell happend?" Then y/n remembered, the beach, vollyball and roger chasing her and then the wave...."Oh god i almost drowned"
Then the door opend And the guys walked in with food and drinks, Brian looked up from the conversation "y/n you are awake!" He ran to her side and grabed her hand in his "we were so worried about you"
"Hey bri" She smiled softly "im sorry for worrying you all i dint mean for this to happen"
Roger stoot at the otherside of the bed and grabed her other hand "i shouldnt have chased you in to the water it was dangerous and i was so stuppid for doing so it almost got you killed"
"I know rog and im sorry to i should have watched out What i was doing" she squeezed their hands and gave a light kiss on them
John, jim and Freddie watched as they gave echoter their apolgies, and then the doctor walked in "ah miss y/l/n good to see that you are awake" he looked at the papers in his hand "everything seems to be in oder, do your lungs hurt?"
"A tiny bit but i asume it will go away in a few days"
"Yes it wil" he gave a smile "wel then if everything is alright and nothing hurts then you may go home"
"Really? Oh thats wonderfull thank you" then she looked down at her chest and pointed at patches that were still in its place "um about these"
"Oh don't worry a nurse will come soon and remove them for you"
"Alright thank you". About 10 minuts later the nurse came in to remove the patches, john freddie and jim had brought some clothes with them on their way to the hospital, once she got dressed they went on their way to go home "are you willing to drive Brian?"
"Yes of course i am, anything for you y/n". Roger went again with Brian and y/n while Jim and Freddie went with john.
"Wel see you all later i think its time for a lazy afternoon" said y/n as she waved them goodbye. Both roger and Brian stayed the night with her to make sure that everything would be going fine now. They promiced echoter that of they would go to the beach again one day that they would be more carefull.

[Roger in the zoo]
Roger: What are they in for?
Zookeeper: This isn't a prison.
Roger: So they can leave.
Zookeeper: Well, no.
Roger, pointing at a penguin: I bet that one killed somebody.
