Here's that voice claim video I've had on the backburner for a hot minute - namely because it just took an insanely long time to find a voice for Cyna that had a low enough pitch to fit how I imagined her. I could've just pitched any VA down myself, but I wanted to find one that was like that by default from the source material itself.

Anyway - these are all almost 100% accurate, barring any special overlays and effects added to the voice themselves.

Meet Stig, my little blind norn seer with his flock of bird friends :) A Herald with a twist. Eventually a Wayfinder, separate from the Commander!

Sooooo I've already had this character for a while, (both in gw2 and out). I have a sylvari version of him — and he will still be existing and thriving as a separate character! However, I wanted to bring the original version of him to life as well. He always had Nordic themes, so making this version of him a norn was an obvious choice

Anyway, there is lore and a funny sketch under the cut for those who'd want to look at them!! (a huge chunk of text again, yeah, I'm sorry. It's featuring @lady-quen's Numen, though!! *wink wink*)

Maybe the weakest, skinniest little norn with nothing much behind his name, Stig was somewhat of an outcast from the moment he was born. Blind since birth, he was "blessed" by an elusive Cuckoo Spirit to help him on his life's journey, yet unable to shapeshift into their form or communicate with them, no matter how hard he tried. He was considered unworthy of norns' boastful lifestyle by some, and pitied for his misfortunes by others, although nobody could ever compare to how he looked upon himself for the happenstance of his birth. Was he "defective" in some way, not worth the effort to lift him up and let him live a life, try to reach for something more?

Still staying loyal to Cuckoo even without their support, Stig turned to Raven after being noticed by him for the cleverness with which the little norn tried to overcome the burdens of his own existence — there, at a young age, was discovered his gift of foresight, an explanation to all the weird sensory visions he would receive; some of them even looked as if he could actually see. Different kinds, both cryptic and mundane. Finally, something he could do and help others with, right? It was probably nice for a time, until enough commotions or unfortunate events were caused, maybe even blamed on him for doing his job wrong, causing Stig to be ever more cautious with sharing what he had gleaned.

Two ravens he rescued were his main company, aside from occasionally the kid of the famous Eir Stegalkin and his little brother with a strange affinity for ice magic. One day, however, the scenery changed into a strange landscape, an echo of the real world, as Stig stumbled through a wayward portal into the Mists. He had to survive there for a time all alone, not even his feathery friends to accompany him, communing with Spirits — then anyone, who'd listen — and desperately trying to get back home. A subtle whisper in his head grew louder the more time he spent essentially meditating, a voice of a person, until it formed and presented itself as none other than Asgeir Dragonrender. With his, rather frustrated at first, help, the little norn managed to get back to the world of the living, though not before getting injured on the way home — a weird, potent surge of lightning struck him. He awoke back home already tended to.

Other norn don't believe him at first when he claims Asgeir was the one to help and guide him — it takes a bit of convincing, talking with the legendary hero's echo and showing Stig's newfound strengths. He can channel the power of the Mists through their connection now, something only havrouns of the Spirits of the Wild can typically do. This earns him the respect of his peers — after all, he is aided by Dragonrender himself. People around him wonder: this must mean he could be the one to crack the Tooth, the Norn of Prophecy, right? Someone Stig never even dared to believe he could be.

However, it was never meant to be. After all the extra training and tireless nights of adapting the chosen combat style to his needs, the one to challange the Tooth wasn't him — instead, it was the hot-headed son of Eir, his friend Braham, who's been adventuring with the famous Pact Commander away from Hoelbrak. One arrow was fired — and as the icy exterior of the trophy crumbled, so did Stig's hopes of proving himself worthy to these people. He became an outcast again. At least his birds and Asgeir were still with him. It didn't matter that Braham supposedly failed his mission to kill the Ice Dragon afterwards: the damage was already done.

Then everything started to go downhill once Kralkatorrik was slain. Unexplainable mysteries, strange fog, disappearances. His friend becoming more and more distant and physically cold until one day he was gone as well. One of the only people who showed Stig what kindness looked like, aside from his mother. It was distressing, scary, none of his visions showing him the way — so he had to find his own, once again. This was the decision that led him to join the Commander and Braham in their venture to the Far Shiverpeaks, and discover the true nature of the little elementalist he called a friend — a scion and champion of Jormag, Numen, who's been the mysterious Cuckoo "Spirit" this whole time.

The team has to confront this dragon on the surface of a cold, frozen Lake Doric — and Asgeir recognizes it. Every norn knows the story of the legendary slayer of Frostfang — Dragonrender killed Jormag's greatest champion in one blow with the help of the Spirits. It was a clear victory, the thing falling off a cliff from the sheer force of the blow, mortally wounded. So how could the very same creature stand before him once again?

The question was answered when the dragon showed the large scar on their neck; they didn't quite remember the fight, but the old wound spoke for itself. A surprise for everyone involved — the greatest kill of Asgeir turned out to be a failure. Remains of the beast were confused with those of Claws of Jormag. And maybe a fact worst of all for the echo of a fallen hero — the frigid monster he was sure he had slain turned out to be one of the very Spirits that helped guide his people to the new home.

Even after that, the team managed to save Numen and end the terror of both Dragons of Fire and Ice.

Eventually, Stig would become Numen's Champion, wanting to be there for them like the dragon was for him. Maybe he had finally found a place he was meant to be in, beside this creature of ice — lonely, yet so full of love for the world. Asgeir wasn't too amused, but what is one more voice in Stig's head, right?

This would mean he'd continue to help the Commander further down the line, and maybe even meet the elusive wizards in their glittering towers — who might have a hand in him meeting Asgeir in the first place.

She does, in fact! Ritari, I imagine would sound like Marina Brink while Ruann has a more feral and androgynous voice and would sound like Debra Wilson's Jormag voice from GW2.

Day something or another of having a gut feeling that Akeem and Zommoros are the same person. Like-

It's canon djinn can lose their memories. In fact it's canon that djinn can have their memories removed via other's involvement (Joko's ghost eaters) so it's not impossible that Isgarren removed the knowledge from Zommoros of any involvement he previously had with the wizards. Or legit Zommoros is just pretending to be... well himself.

Zommoros' voice actor had only done about two roles in GW2 - Zommoros and Redeemer Kossan, all the way back in the PoF/LWS4 era. And that was it. Rick Wasserman had been absent for the entirety of Icebrood Saga and EoD. Then suddenly he came BACK and is the voice of Zizel, Frode, Nephus, and a few ambient NPCs if you listen closely enough. Obviously sure, Anet previously worked with him so there was good incentive to bring back someone you know works well. But at the same time...

Regardless, we follow their lead. Question everything. Never accept the reality presented in front of you.

There's more dialogue along this vein of "Akeem isn't with us - question everything - explore all the secrets" but then you have THIS. ONE. RANDOM. CONVERSATION

Rift Hunter Warrior: Oh, I know. I still remember how challenging it was to merge Lyhr when it first arrived.

Astral Ward Mage: You know Zommoros, though. Could've done it just to mess with us.

This is an ambient dialogue that SPECIFICALLY happens in the BASTION OF THE OBSCURE. Not the Bastion of Knowledge or even Balance, you know, areas that deal with Isgarren and Lyhr. They are bringing up ZOMMOROS in the Bastion associated with AKEEM.

Multiple people are casually saying "there are secrets here" and "don't take things at face value" on top of the fact that the FIRST type of djinn that got mentioned as a POSSIBILITY of what type of djinn Akeem is was A WATER DJINN. And then someone else CASUALLY mentioned the most WELL-KNOWN WATER DJINN IN THE ENTIRE GAME is on good enough terms with The WIZARDS to be pulling pranks on them!

• The Mother-Freaking Sword Achievement

So there's a few achievements that mention Akeem or the Bastion of the Obscure, but we need to talk about the sword. The sword you get from completing the Bastion of the Obscure weapon achievement, and how it really makes you stop and ponder.

First off, you get access to Turai Ossa's journal. And apparently he met Isgarren long ago... who initially pretended to be Akeem. Pardon what? We already know from Dagda's journal that Isgarren made himself blue to look more like a djinn and less intimidating, but why introduce himself as someone else? Does he miss Akeem that much? Admittedly, this raises a dozen questions and none of them are easily answered with the Akeem = Zommoros theory.

But what's REALLY suspicious is that to complete the achievement you actually have to use the Mystic Forge, and this is the ONLY achievement among the Bastion weapon achievements that needs the Mystic Forge. Not to mention that there is very little information revealed about Akeem from this achievement, compared to the other achievements which at least offered something. Like Anet is intentionally hiding information.

And yet this is the second time a connection has been made between Akeem and Zommoros.

A mild-mannered office worker turned magical girl in the fractals. Oumeko was the Captain’s Council’s receptionist when Scarlet and the Aetherblades attacked Lion’s Arch, levelling Oume’s neighborhood and killing her elderly parents in their home. Oume didn’t know what got into her that inspired her to leave a notice on her desk and hunt Mai Trin into the Mists like an animal, but she did, and after she sabotaged the Aetherblades’ Mist engine, she got stuck in unreality right along with them.

Oume has been making her way through thousands of permutations of Tyrian history and her own memories in the wild fractals. At first she looked singlemindedly for a way out, but now, after who knows how many years and loops, she’s become infatuated with Dessa, the voice on the PA system that’s guided and joked with her, maybe the only other real (real?) person in the fractals. Oume doesn’t know if she’s even the original copy of herself anymore, much less if she’d survive an exit to alpha Tyria—if she could even find one. But even if she could, she wouldn’t go without Dessa and Arkk. And the more times Oume resets the fractals to try to save them, the more time and Mist energy she builds up, until the fractals start to recognize Dessa as their purpose and center, and Oumeko as their mad, shortsighted architect.

Her hero complex and teenage delusion of invincibility drove her deep into the jungle, where she rocketed past Faolain, Caithe, Ruka, and Commander Pepiya to claim the egg for herself and the Zephyrite people. In that first moment of psychic contact with the unborn baby Aurene, Dara’s young mind was overwhelmed by raw magic and existential terror, forging an invasive, twisted bond between her and the baby dragon and leaving Dara nonverbal, magic-sensitive, and wilder than before. Reckoning with that trauma and Aurene’s ability to take over Dara’s body took years, but now their closeness is a point of pride, not a cause of horror. Dara is happy to call herself Aurene’s Claw. Intense, contrary, bright. ROCKET PUNCH‼️ YIAH‼️

Born Decima (“Deck”) Whiptail of Iron Legion, she was piloting a copter in a tryout for her grandmother’s airborne warband in 1320 on the day Kralkatorrik flew over. The copters lost power in the arcane storm, but she kept hers aloft with her air elementalism, which she’d always hidden in the fahrar, and brought herself and her grandmother Tenar Kitewing safely down on the far side of the newly formed Brandscar. Tenar granted her the honorary warband name Kitetail, and they wandered northern Elona together, struggling to survive and find a way back to their Legion, or failing that, a new home & purpose in Elona. The Zephyrites were the answer. When the Zephyr Fleet was able to offer passage back to Ascalon years later, Tenar and her granddaughter, now called Cirrus, refused, having fallen in love with their new people. Cirrus joined Dragon’s Watch after the Dry Top crash. Bubbly, combative, short attention span.

An arranged marriage was set up with Onasis Ai, a noble of Luxon blood who was in touch with Archemorus. Though they didn’t choose each other, Ai and Genji have become best friends and devoted partners—but are unsure whether pursuing an actual romance is something they want, or just a pressure from their families, class, and the ancient lovers’ voices in their heads.

They’re both lavished and threatened with the court’s attention as a result of their magic, auspicious marriage, and developing combat skills, but they have a secret that threatens their status far more than any previous generation’s unwise investments or misplaced courtly alliances… their very young daughter Himiko has started talking about an imaginary friend she calls the Guard Man, who follows her around wearing old timey armor and dragging his swords along the floor, and gives her the power to petrify her parents with a frustrated wail, and turn small objects into jade.

Urgent pacifist and law-abider, despite having close enough family ties to the Jade Brotherhood that Genji calls Chul-moo “Uncle Park.”

Phaibun is elegant, nitpicky, and cool. Nan is skeptical, spirited, and pragmatic. They call Prem “Monkey” and Dara “Tiger.”

Genji’s wife and best friend, the vessel of Archemorus. Genji and Ai both come from organized crime families. Unlike Genji, Ai isn’t afraid of her violent heritage or of using her relatives’ underworld connections for the betterment of Cantha.

An employment discrimination lawyer and champion of Kurzick, Luxon, and tengu workers by day, a benefactor and arms dealer for the freedom fighters by night, and a courtier on paper and only by necessity, Ai has very little time for her husband and daughter. But she loves them, and looks forward to a day when Cantha’s minorities have enough influence to speak for themselves, and she can take some time off to be a mother, and see if she’s even interested in being a wife.

An Elonian bounty hunter, born Olmakhan but too restless and greedy for their way of life. Took her surname from a human deadeye she got training from, then left for dead. Double-crossed her employers one too many times, got caught between the scorned Sunspears and the punishing Mordant Crescent, and was killed in 1327. Left a mate and cub behind. Years later, snuck out of the Mists under cover of the Battle of Dragonfall. Now roaming Tyria causing low-grade havoc, pursued by demons, envoys, and Priory operatives frantic to put him back in hell where he belongs. Great storyteller. Very funny.

She wants to become an investigative journalist and take down Xunlai Jade once and for all by exposing its corruption, but to do that she has to survive high school in Kaineng. Has a twisted bond with Prem, ever since the oni made her confuse him for her father.

Knut Whitebear’s adoptive daughter. An elegant, serious young norn who gave up her special interest in jotun magic to serve under Jhavi in the Vigil, hoping to eliminate Jormag’s existential threat to the norn and leave them all free to pursue their peacetime passions—a decision that got her stranded, alone, freezing from the inside out in Bjora Marches. She got better, though. Mostly. Follower of the inexorable Boar Spirit.

The Nightmare Courtier who mentored Gil when they were a sapling. Hemera was a secondborn who developed without protection from Mordremoth’s influence due to the Pale Tree and the Dream itself being stretched too thin at the time. Despite her ethereal beauty and tyrannical-but-nurturing “fairy queen” persona, Hemera has never felt anything except hunger and momentary satisfaction. She learned to Shape other sylvari’s bodies from watching her student Gil at work, and carved out a place for herself high in the Court by offering to change courtiers—either for beauty or efficacy in torture and raids—for favors. Hemera temporarily corrupted in Maguuma, but when Mordremoth fell silent in death, she twisted her body back to a parody of its old shape and started a new Nightmare sect in Siren’s Landing, where she preys on sapling researchers who wander too far from camp. She considers it her Dark Hunt to create a garden of mutilated sylvari that swallows the whole world, as Mordremoth’s jungle failed to do. Drosie’s mortal enemy.

It has no memory of its previous life with Flame, only a dizzying sense of lost community and purpose, and the worry that it wouldn’t like who it used to be even if it could remember. I wanted to give my voice bout gw2 AI thingy,

Since I actually talked to the person who was stealing art for their AI model.

They claim that they changed and oppose it now, they did the ai art model a year ago,

Does that mean we shouldn't protect ourselves?

Nuh uh, you never know if someone else isn't doing this, we don’t know if that person is lying or not,

Protect your art no matter what, your art is worth keeping,

Also worth mentioning that Warp dev only makes AI app stuff things, yes kinda disgusting to keep the ai stealing things on the server and honestly I think it's up to an individual if they are fine with it or not.

I just want to clear up that no one we know of is actively stealing art rn, ofc someone could be in secret,

Also know that the model created with the stolen art was never published anywhere and isn't worked on now,

Protect your art so if any new asshole comes around they don't get to steal anything

New Years Resolutions

Make character introduction posts. I’ve been here since February and still haven’t formally introduced any of my characters.

Start leaving messages in the tags of all the beautiful art I reblog. This is going to be difficult because I don’t usually have translatable feeling about art so expect a lot of “augh so pretty” and “woah”s lmao. This will not be applying to already queued posts because there’s over 100, sorry.

Finish owed WIPs. There’s a big one that this is specifically about that has never left my mind but there’s also a few art party things that I never finished.

Do more GW2 art. Specifically of my own characters but I also want to get back into the art parties which I dropped out of the last half of the year due to art block.

Actually start getting character thoughts out of the abyss of my head and out into the world. I’d like to do more of those character ask games. I had some fun with them this year but I have a few still sitting around in my askbox lol.

Get around to making a character voice claim video. I’d settled on a few voices when everyone was doing those but video editing is the bane of my existence.

I only joined the GW2 tumblr community this year but I’ve loved being a part of it and seeing everyone’s beautiful art, amazing characters, and thoughts on lore and the game itself. It’s good to be a part of the community instead of just enjoying the game on my own.

I’ve finally dipped my toes into endgame group content with a wonderful group of people and I’d love to get to know you all more in the coming years.

I’m not really one to initiate conversation on my own, just know that if you ever want to chat about anything, I don’t bite!

heavily inspired by @commander-soup so credit where it’s due for the format! a funny note is that for marwyd’s voice claim, i have never played that game specifically. so. this voice was something i found by just googling ‘southern video game characters’ LMAO. all the others are characters that i either adore or they really left an impact on me.

also i never video edited in my life so this was baby’s first attempt. i also have a version for my wife’s characters that i’ll be posting tomorrow!

I think the biggest crime he’s ever committed is probably just stealing something by accident (before he remembered currency was a thing), oh and definitely Destruction of Public property at some point but LOOK I Was being Attacked! And Instinctively just well.. Set on fire!”

That being said, Link is a big time liar, it’s not compulsive, he just lies when he knows it’s going to make certain things less hard on him, which can be a lot of things. 

Being asked if you have experience with something that you have to do a job? Lie, I need the job/money!  

Handsome warrior I meet wants to take me back to the Grove?  Lie! No way I’m going back there! 

Someone asks if you’re feeling alright? LIE! If they know I have a chronic condition they might make me stop doing the things I want to do! 

🎨 Is your OC artistic? Can they draw or paint or do they prefer another medium? Are they a writer or musician or do they do something else? Give us a quick run down of what they can get creative with!

I could definitely see Link as being a pretty good writer, he’s definitely the type who likes to write down the things he’s seen or learned, maybe less in a personal diary format but more in an objective way? 

He loves to dance but I don’t think he’s really the best at it… 

Another thing I could see him doing a bit is actually singing. I don’t know if he’d be amazing but I could really see him finding it as a way to express his emotions without actually being direct about what’s going on and instead speaking through the lyrics and tone of the song.
