i know i know i know that's not how it works but consider it. just for the joy of it. snow leopard norn trying to infiltrate charr forces. if anyone asks what happened to his secondary ears he just says "war wound". he has to leave every thirty seconds to turn back and let the skill recharge. no one knows who owns the horn headband and everyone's too afraid to ask

GW2’s healing weapons are so funny to me because like sometimes you get something that makes total sense, like a magic staff/scepter that cures your wounds, or a shield that protects and heals you at the same time.
But at the same time you also have some guy slamming his melee quarter staff into the ground so hard that it somehow heals you, mace that somehow makes your healing work better the more you hit your enemies, or (this one is my favorite) guy with magic gun that can do damage but miraculously heals his friends when he shoots them.

From the combat ask game, 11 and 18 for any OC you'd like 👀
Since Maara is my main and best known character, I am going to answer these for her.
11. Are there weapons they can't use to save their life?
Maara is frankly kind of a terrible shot and favors close quarters when possible. However, being a former Legion soldier she has been trained in most common types of weapons one could expect to come across and can use them with at least passable proficiency.
18. Can they handle themselves in a fight without using weapons?
Absolutely. Maara is fairly good at hand to hand combat, which is once again primarily owed to her Legion training. On top of that, when you're as big as she is, just smacking someone can be deadly.

Gw2 Story Tier List!!
most of the reason why i play this game is for the story, so! i figured making a tier list out of all the main story parts would be fun!
feel free to reblog this and share ur opinions!! here's mine!
i'll specify i've started lws1 but i haven't finished it. and im waiting to play soto with my partner :)
LINK TO THE TIERLIST!!!!
#gw2#reduce reuse reblog#dd.png#OK SO.#LWS3 is REALLY REALLY GOOD except for Siren's Landing which is just...so Narratively Unnecessary#you could have added that Eye of Janthir vision literally anywhere else in S3 and it'd be OK#but LWS3 into Path of Fire is so so so fucking hype#LWS4 ranks lower because Eps 1 through 3 are baller as fuck#and then it drops...somewhat...thanks to Aurene And Kralk Shenanigans#it was REALLY BOLD of ANet to have an Elder Dragon die in an episode people can get for free instead of having to pay IRL Money for#and i can respect that decision#PS and Heart of Thorns have this in common: they had a lot of storytelling potential‚#smooshed away by trying to tell a story everyone can be involved in rather than A Story For [This Group]#something that PoF did (and did very well) and shines because of this#Icebrood Saga‚ my beloved/beloathed#everything in IBS up to No Quarter was AUGHSAKJDFHKLJDSHJFK i am biting and chewing and scratching#SO GOOD. SO SO SO GOOD.#and then you hit No Quarter and it's like#yikes. yikes yikes yikes yikes#Welcome to Character-Assassination City‚ they just made Smodur its mayor!!#and CHAMPIONS..............lord help me that story was a garbage fire upon garbage fires#if No Quarter and Champions weren't. (y'know). Cantha had tremendous hype behind it. and it just. didn't deliver.)#Season 1 and 2...ugh. ugh ugh ugh ugh.#(remember when ANet wasted money to hire A Famous Female VA just so they can have Shitty British Harley Quinn-Joker?)#i only got far enough in SotO to unlock things at the first new map and have not played it proper since‚#but of what I DID play? it has promise.

The comeback
Hopefully, the last comeback.
I have gained and lost a lot during the last few weeks, even months. I had to ask myself "am I really ready to stop binging? why do I keep looking for excuses?"
I had many tumblr-accounts that have been on and off over and over again. And I want THIS to be the last one. The last time.
Why, you may be asking. Why should I finally be able to beat my demons, stay strong, get healthy and lean?
I'm tired of this life. Living like this, is destroying me. I don't know who I am when I look in the mirror. I wanna dress up nicely so, so bad. But I feel so uncomfortable. So, here's the last time of reactivating a Tumblr account:
My current weight, and also my highest ever weight, is 80kg
I started developing more frequent knee pain, due to my fluctuating weight.
My birthday is in exactly 13 weeks. Realistically, I should be able to lose 15 kg in this time period, which is what my goal is. -15kg by Christmas Eve, -31kg in total (no time limitations). It is my 25th birthday to be exact. I've spent a quarter of a century in a body I didn't like, fat, unhealthy, unhappy. I deserve to feel better and I want to mark a new chapter of my life. By becoming who I am on the inside.
It's just 13 weeks, maybe I will reach my goal and stop there because I'm happy with the results. Just 13 weeks. Only 13 monday-shifts left. Only 13 short workdays on Thursdays left. Only 13 weeks. Only 13 Sundays of saying "let's not get takeout today and eat something fresh". Only 13 weeks of limiting my caloric intake, drinking water, quitting sugar and fried foods, going to the gym 3 times a week, and walking frequently.
I. Will. Do. It. This time, I will not automatically think "I will quit this shi tomorrow anyways"
I hope you stick around for updates. I'm ashamed, but I'm sure some people feel the same way.

1, 2, 3, 5, 6 for Aurelia? (@commanderhorncleaver)
GW2 OC Questions: Combat Edition ⚔️✨ (keeping the questions short here, refer to link for full questions)
1. How good are they in combat?
Aurelia is a pretty damn good fighter and a fierce one at that, otherwise she wouldn't have survived this long even with all the luck in the world. For a time her revenant abilities were tricky for her to access, especially with the voices in her head acting more as a distraction than anything else, but her skill as a warrior compensated for it until she "grew" into the magic and became an even stronger fighter with a more refined (yet often improvised) technique.
-
2. Do they like to fight?
The more time passes, the more her answer veers towards a hard "no".
Back in the Blood Legion it was easy to loudly roar "yes", as she had grown up training for war like any other cub and everything around her shaped her into being ready and eager for violence, and there was simply no other answer. The fame and recognition her warband earned in their glory days smothered any fledgling doubt she could have had about it, because that was what they were good at and kept proving it, yet even then she jokingly fantasized about having a quieter life away from it all. What then, after spending a few traumatic years in the Mists and coming out as a charr completely uprooted from what she knew? That thrill Aurelia chased with her warband was no longer there, ruined by the painful emptiness of their loss, and while fighting was still what she was good at, her priorities shifted: it was no longer about doing her duty as a soldier and earning glory while keeping her loved ones safe, now her duty was to keep the world safe for her loved ones.
Can she still enjoy a fight and celebrate victory? Sure, but it's hard to say she wants more of it when she feels that weight rooted on her shoulders, constantly reminding her of the stakes and that every little misstep could mean disaster. And yet, if she doesn't fight, something worse will happen, and there's no escape from it no matter how tired she is.
-
3. Are they good at hand-to-hand combat or do they prefer to keep their distance?
Aurelia used to be good only at hand-to-hand combat, where she could fully take advantage of her huge body and slam into enemies (better if with magical protection, courtesy of her bandmates). She lacked magic and she wasn't that great with firearms (others took care of those anyway), so the most she could do at a distance was using a bow with unimpressive skill (she liked to hunt for food, but in combat she felt utterly useless compared to her bandmate Lupita), or just watch while others took care of the enemy for her.
After coming back from the Mists with access to magic, she did her best to learn how to fight from a distance, finding new surprising uses for a lot of the weapons she was familiar with, though she still favors fighting in close quarters whenever possible and has plenty of ways to close the distance.
-
5. Are they good at fighting alongside allies or are they better fighting solo? + 6. What combat situation are they better suited for?
[answering both as they're very connected in her case]
Aurelia can handle most combat situations, as she and her warband extensively trained to be flexible and ready no matter what happened on the battlefield. They worked a well-oiled machine, but her role often had her fighting one or more charr at once, if not directly holding out on the frontline or ramming into the enemy, so it was important for her to handle things solo or with minimal support while waiting for her mates to catch up.
Needless to say, it helped her a lot during her Commander career, making her a good backup to fill in for most situations, especially with the boon of her weird Mist magic that gives her a honestly unfair advantage and self-regenerative abilities. After getting used to being in a commanding role and calling the shots instead of taking orders, the only situation that stresses her particularly is when others get separated from the group and start struggling, and she will put herself in danger if it means she can get to them.
#oc asks#Aurelia Dragonwings#that said she's not invincible or anything. she's good she's adaptable she's got some unfair advantages but she still has limits.#being chronically tired because of everything doesn't help for sure#(and the fact she often fails to take proper care of herself and will sleep only when exhausted makes it worse)#speaking of tired: it's almost 1am(actually 2 now) and I answered now because it's too hot to sleep. so I hope this is at least coherent :'

Not sure if I should post pictures of real-life firearms here, so I'll try my best to describe the following:
If/When The Odd Marbles ever get their hands on modern firearms, and let's assume gw2 has that at some point:
Emilie gets a subcompact pistol that can be suppressed to reduce noise and muzzle flash
Emmalee gets a pair of pistols or a lever-action rifle that are just as accurate as fast-firing
Yuri gets a submachine gun (likely stuff like MP-5) that is best suited for close-quarter combat due to its size and mobility
Nellen gets basically anything that is considered a heavy weapon (rocket launcher, mini-gun, triple-barreled shotgun, or belt-fed assault rifle......actually she might just get all of it)
Sasha gets a break-action over-under or a pump-action shotgun for powerful and lethal close-range damage
Justine gets a powerful magnum revolver that is not just aesthetically pleasing but also deadly effective at any range

whats the shiverpeak sylvari home city called? whats the architecture like?
The Shiverpeaks sylvari home city is called Ochtachtoft (playing with linguistics here and blending of the real world cultures that GW2 lore has implied for norn and sylvari: "ochtach" is Gaelic for "pine" or "fir", and "toft" is an Old Norse term for "homestead"; literally "pine homestead"). Like the Pale Tree, the city circles the tree: however, rather than spiraling upwards and downwards it instead expands outwards. As long as they remain under Pinefather's boughs, they are within the safety of Ochtachtoft. The city is divided into quarters to represent each Season. In the northeast you'll find Spring and going clockwise it goes to Summer in the southeast, Autumn in the southwest, and then finally Winter in the northwest. A small circle in the middle, including the ruins of the abandoned haven where the avatar of Pinefather spends most of his days, is where you will find the markets, the representatives of the three Orders, and the crafting stations. The architecture, on the outside, looks very rudimentary. It appears like most of the houses are built from harvested materials: fallen branches or leaves, easily retrieved rocks, clay harvested from clearing the ground for the gardens, and the like. Inside they are usually small and cozy spaces, decorated with mementos of their friends and loved ones as well as markers of their interests.

Writer’s Game: First Sentences
Was not tagged BUT @i-mybrunettelady threw this into gw2 tumblr from another writer so I’m doing it anyway :)
Rules: post the first sentence of your last ten fics. If you haven't written ten fics, share as many first-sentences as you have.
HERE’S THE THING LADS, I have not published a lot of my fics. I just have a million stories that I’ve made just in my notes app and other places. SO I’ll give a working/basic title for each of these and you’ll just have to be content.
LET’S GO WOOOOOO
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1 | The Aftermath of the Dragon |
The battle with Soo-Won is won, but at what cost?
2 | Run boy run |
As a child Theseus spent most of his time in his studies
3 | The Trammander Wedding | (exactly as it sounds)
Cynthia toyed with the ribbon around her waist, she was in front of a vanity in her special quarters
4 | A simple song |
Trahearne sat silently on the cliff’s edge, Malchor had taken his leap from this very ledge.
5 | Really? You like looking at me? | (in which Warren is temporarily blinded)
Theseus poured over the papers on his desk
6 | Pact Gala |
“So what you’re saying is, all I have to do is accompany you to your little Pact Gala, and you’ll hand over 50G at the end of the night?”
7 | An Eye for an Eye |
It was the late hours of the night, and Trahearne sat quietly at the table in Caer Aval, the shuffle of papers filled the empty courtyard
8 | You came, you called |
Theseus sat alone in his home, in a single dining chair with only the voices as his company
9 | Orrian Flowers |
Cynthia and Trahearne have been friends ever since Claw Island, they've worked hard together and formed the Pact to defeat Zhaitan, now they have been on Orr for about a month, and Cynthia was starting to miss the smells of life and plants.
10 | Five times the Commander mourned her Marshal, and the one time she didn’t |
Airships fell from the sky over the Maguuma Jungle, screams of comrades being dragged by the thorny vines that had shot out from the depths, Captain Thackery, Zojja, and Marshal Trahearne were among the prisoners taken by Mordremoth.
Ive been haunting arenanets job listings and theyve been hiring for the last 2+ years for a "well funded" "established fantasy IP" "mmo" "story enriched" game while talking about "guild wars 2 and beyond" it also helps for their gw2 has been doing great for the company that owns arenanet. For example just this recent quarter gw2 was there 2nd top grossing pc game. EoD rocked ncsofts profits in pc gaming when it came out and continues to do so. Its probably why they are open to a third game being developed. Arenanet is still hiring for key positions (just in January there was a directaor position up so its no where close still) but it does put into perspective why im feeling, like with lws5, the recent expansion and story stuff is a filler for what they really want to move onto. I personally just fear whether or not gw2 will have its plug fully pulled since it doesnt have the same structure gw1 has to make it a much easier experience to play past its prime. Hoping there will be updates that will keep gw2 playable whether its by adjusting difficulties when there isnt anyone on maps or if they will have companions incorporated to help with dps when your the only one on the map and need something for an achievement. Obviously gw3 could be cancelled but we will see. So far its a unreal engine (been seeing UE5 recently) game that will have linux support (launching with steam access perhaps. The devs loved the idea of playing gw2 on steam deck when they got their hands on it)
Guild wars 3???? Is that a real thing? Did I miss something? Aren't we not even close to done with 2 yet?
So: No Quarter
I’ve calmed down a little now, so here are some scattered thoughts on No Quarter:
-It makes me sad that our first warband recruit is a traitor, but I’m happy they included whoever your first bandmate was on the map. I was so HAPPY to see Clawspur. :3
-Someone needs to get Rytlock and Crecia out of positions of influence and power during this entire campaign. I’m proud of Cre for not letting Ryland kill Smodur, but my god, please stop letting these two makes leadership decisions when they clearly can’t think straight regarding their horrible son.
-Speaking of Smodur, who IS this new character? Where is the patient diplomat who forged a peace treaty between two peoples who had been fighting a brutal war for CENTURIES? It feels like Anet just wanted to have a loose cannon asshole on the Legion side, to make things more “complex” or something. Please be more consistent with your characters, Anet. This aggressive, rash charr couldn’t have possibly sat down with his people’s greatest enemy and hammered out a workable peace accord. This Smodur couldn’t even sit through a hostage negotiation without murdering the hostage.
-Lol good attempt to get us to sympathize last chapter with the Steel warband. They are complex, interesting characters, and I feel NO sadness putting them down. Any attempt by the commander to reason with them get thrown laughingly back in our face, which, whatever, they chose their side. But it shows how little remorse they have for the many awful war crimes they are complicit in. I don’t care how sassy Vishen is, or how fatherly Nicabar is, they all need to go down, including (especially) Ryland.
-This whole thing is presented as a complex conflict, and a war for the souls of the Charr people. Aurene even wants to stay out of it to avoid making it worse. Bangar feeling terror at the possibility of the Commander destroying his people with an Elder Dragon, wrong and paranoid that it is, is sooooommmmmewhat understandable from an aging leader who fears being displaced, and fears for his people’s future after he’s gone. And who knows the power of an Elder Dragon, without understanding or trying to understand the relationship between the Commander and Aurene. The (stupid) solution this paranoid old warrior came up with was “well we need one of those to fight for us!” Again, understandable, if misguided. I might even have felt a bit of pity for the old man and his followers, doomed as they are.
-Where all this complexity ended for me was when I read Goro Cleverclaws’ journal. All of Drizzlewood coast was populated. With norn, humans, and tengu. Living their lives, presumably peaceful, judging from the journal. One day, the terrifying sound of horns and steel and death is heard in the distance (anyone who’s played the new map meta knows the sound.) The residents flee if they can, and any who fight for their homes are slaughtered to a man. No mercy, no quarter given. “No prisoners were taken. Few escaped. The invaders didn't bother asking for surrender.” The Dominion has one goal: charr above all, every other race, and any charr who disagree, are slaughtered like animals. So that’s the complexity gone for me.
Honestly though, overall is was my favorite Living Story chapter in a while. And I’m terribly excited to see where this goes. Hopefully the Pact and other nation’s forces will get involved when they hear what the Dominion has done.
