18+ Modern! Eddie Munson x F! reader, sexually explicit texts, lots of sexually charged pining, featuring a very done, very exasperated Ronnie Ecker ❤️
A/N: So, this was originally part of a much longer WIP that I'm no longer feeling but I'm still fond of this very silly little scene because it's heavily inspired by an exchange I once had with a friend over a guy she was really into. So, I decided to tweak the scene a bit and turn it into its own blurb instead. All you need to know is that our dear reader is down bad for Eddie and he has no clue until one day you forget to take your phone with you after sitting in on a Hellfire meeting😊 Enjoy!
He had only wanted to return your phone when he saw that it'd been left behind but after another day of noticing you and Ronnie fervently texting each other from across the room, curiosity took a hold of Eddie and made him rethink his next move.
It'd been three weeks now and he was yet to figure out what your deal was. You always came by after work to pick Ronnie up so the two of you could go hang out once Hellfire was done for the day, sometimes sitting patiently in the corner whenever the campaign ran late like today.
You seemed unassuming enough to Eddie – never interrupting the flow of the game, even quietly following along to fill in the gaps on your own as best you could which surprised him because no one outside the club ever cared enough to know the first thing about D&D.
Before you'd become acquainted with him and the other members of the club, there was some pushback when Ronnie had first asked to let you, a non member, come sit in – pushback that quickly ceased once Eddie got a look at you. But as much as he liked the way you smiled at him in your pretty skirts and dresses that didn't seem suited for the weather outside or the way your sweet, powdery perfume hung in the air, lingering like the smell of fireworks the day after the Fourth of July, his suspicions remained.
Too many times he'd caught you watching him while the rest of the group were busy deliberating their next move, your eyes all big and radiant and your knees nudging against each other restlessly.
Even if he wasn't entirely sure about you yet, he couldn't deny how cute you looked when you cast those eyes down quickly whenever he caught you looking, clearly embarrassed as you picked at your fingers in your lap like a kid who'd just been sent to the principal's office.
He almost felt guilty when he saw you withdraw like that, feeling weirdly responsible even though it was you who had been staring at him.
None of it made sense to Eddie but the thing that got to him the most was whenever you'd pull out your phone and type out something for Ronnie to look at later. Though he had no proof, his instincts told him that those texts had everything to do with him.
With every tap of your manicured fingers on your screen he grew more curious. So even if it meant a quick invasion of privacy, he couldn't pass up the opportunity to put his rampant wondering to rest, pulling up your most recent messages to Ronnie, his eyes widening at the very first one.
Head spinning and jeans feeling noticeably tighter around his crotch, it makes sense to Eddie now that this was why Ronnie had abruptly yanked you out of the room by your wrist the first chance she'd got.
Carefully placing your phone back where he'd found it, Eddie plants himself back on his throne while he tries to blink himself out of his daze. Two thoughts come to mind when the reeling starts to cease.
How was he going to keep a straight face the next time he saw you?
And more importantly, how soon could he offer you a ride home and and make good on that dream?

Flight of Icarus Character List
Lore Part 1 | Part 2
- Eddie Munson: Our boy is 18 years old, lives alone in his dad's house with Wayne checking in on him. By 1984, he's the lead singer and guitarist of Corroded Coffin and the DM for Hellfire. He's known as Freak King at school, and Munson Junior around town, he hates both. His grades are bad, but the only trouble he gets in at school is getting blamed for fights with jocks that he doesn't start or win. He works as a barback at the Hideout where his band plays sometimes. His status as town pariah due to his dad's criminal reputation and being an outcast deeply affects him. He wants nothing more than to escape that image, even if he's trading it for a different image. The story kicks off when he gets a chance to chase a record deal in California and teams up with his dad to get the money to move.
- Al Munson: Eddie’s dad, he comes in and out of Eddie's life. He's been abandoning Eddie alone/with Wayne for long stretches since Eddie was a child. Al's very charismatic and has even made Jim Hopper laugh. He uses that "Munson Magic" to manipulate everyone around him, he's a conman and career criminal. He taught Eddie guitar, but also taught Eddie to jack cars at age 10 and only sees Eddie as his little minion. He comes back to town, claiming he's fresh out of a prison stint in Colorado with a debt he needs to repay, and enlists Eddie into helping him rob a truck carrying drugs from his former boss. He leaves details out of the story that blow up in their faces. In the end, he leaves again when Eddie needs him most.
- Wayne Munson: Eddie’s uncle, factory job guy and the best caregiver as we all predicted. Wayne’s a quiet guy, very emotionally reserved too. Eddie says he’s never even heard Wayne yell, he’s non-confrontational. He doesn’t like Al, says nothing even when Al tries to instigate an argument. He deeply cares for Eddie. Eddie is very stubbornly independent, so used to being on his own because of Al, and Wayne tries to respect his boundaries while also being concerned, as Eddie gets very prickly about it. He tries his best to keep Eddie from getting roped in with Al, but overall he lets Eddie make his own decisions. He seems like he wants to just bundle Eddie in a hug at times, but they're not to that point yet in the book. In the end, Al's scheme gets their house burned down, so Wayne permanently takes Eddie in. He shapes Eddie by telling him he’s not his dad and to stop caring what people think and not to put himself in a box. Some nice tidbits: Wayne has a green thumb, reads Gardener’s Weekly magazine and goes to a bar called the Attic on Fridays.
- Ronnie Ecker: Eddie’s childhood best friend. She lives with her grandma in the trailer park. Her father passed away and her mother is implied mentally unstable. She meets Eddie when they’re 8. She’s described as tall, taller than Eddie since they were kids, always wearing a corduroy hat, and people mistake them for siblings. She’s the first drummer of cc. Ronnie and Eddie formed the band specifically because they had to do the middle school talent show. Then Gareth becomes the drummer when she graduates. She’s also in Hellfire, wants to go to law school and has a full ride scholarship to NYU. She’s sort of implied aro/ace after Eddie tries to kiss her when they’re 13, she says it’s not just Eddie, she doesn’t think she’ll ever have a crush on anyone. Ronnie is perceptive and smart and she teases Eddie a lot but they’re very protective of each other. Eddie gets blackmailed by Principal Higgins into dropping out when he threatens to jeopardize Ronnie's scholarship. Eddie never tells Ronnie this, even when they have a fight about him choosing to end Hellfire because Higgins convinced him his friends would be better off. This causes them to leave off on vague terms when she goes to NYU.
- Dougie Teague: This could possibly be unnamed freak from the show, but there’s an age discrepancy because he’s the same age as Ronnie and Eddie in the books and it says he graduates. So he would have to fail senior year twice along with Eddie to still be in high school in the show as unnamed freak. Dougie is the backup cc guitar player, whereas unnamed freak played bass in the show. Dougie is brash and blurts things out. He lives where Eddie calls the nice side of town and they rehearse in his garage. Dougie’s mom is not fond of Eddie but lets them practice there. Dougie’s dad is an HVAC truck guy.
- Jeff (no last name): Jeff is a sophomore and the bass player for CC, whereas in the show he plays guitar. Jeff comes across as reserved compared to Eddie and Ronnie. He played D&D with his older brothers before joining Hellfire. Eddie says Jeff knows more about bass than him. Jeff is ‘the nice one’ and generally nervous and anxious. He’s reasonable but he looks up to Eddie and buys into what Eddie says about the band getting a deal even if it’s unrealistic. Jeff is awkward around girls, wants to do good in school and he’s afraid of getting in trouble. The owner of the Hideout bar lets the band split a beer and Jeff is nervous the whole time. Also, when Eddie screws up, Jeff is the first to forgive him.
- Gareth (no last name): Gareth takes on the role of Eddie’s first sheep, whereas everyone else are Eddie’s friends, Gareth is like the little kid he’s fond of. Gareth is a freshman, there’s a whole scene of Eddie helping him create a D&D character. He’s hotheaded and a target for bullies. Eddie sticks up for him a couple times, and once, Gareth barrels in shrieking and throwing windmill punches to stop Eddie from getting jumped by Tommy H and crew, which results in Gareth going to the hospital with a fractured wrist.
- Rick Lipton (Reefer Rick): Rick is a very typical laid back stoner character. He's around 35, described as a giant soft guy with big smiling eyes and friendly face, wearing a Smokey the Bear shirt, and not what Eddie expected from a drug dealer. His house is also not what Eddie expected, being pretty clean compared to Eddie's teenage inhabited space. Eddie meets Rick through his dad, who has screwed Rick over in the past and this makes Rick unwilling to be the buyer of what they're going to steal off the drug truck. Eddie however puts on his best "Munson Magic" and convinces Rick. Rick is impressed and calls him Munson Junior, which Eddie hates. He goes back to Rick at the end of the book, needing money and a job. Rick gets him started dealing.
- Elizabeth Munson (maiden name Franklin): Eddie’s mom, he's a certified mama's boy. She doesn't appear in the book, Eddie says she got sick and passed away when he was around 6. She's originally from Memphis, Tennessee, where she met Al and they moved to Hawkins when she was 19, they got married March 12th, 1966. She loved Eddie's dad but Eddie says Al was always leaving her to go off on schemes. She passed her love of music onto Eddie. Her favorite was Chicago blues, Eddie didn't understand why until she passed and he started to feel it in his bones too. Eddie remembers dancing with her to Muddy Waters' "Rollin' Stone" and when the song comes on in the truck while he's doing business with Al, it makes him tear up. He recalls this memory several times, it seems like it’s his happiest memory. He says "When Elizabeth Munson was happy, the whole entire world was happy." His biggest connection to his mom was through her music. Then when Al's scheme goes wrong, the people he screwed over show up and burn down their house in an act of revenge. Eddie almost gets killed trying to save his mom's records, but they burn.
- Paige Warner: Paige is a junior scout at WR Music. She's not described beyond having freckles, chin-length dark hair and dark eyes. She has a younger brother on the Hawkins baseball team. At the Hideout, she sees Eddie's band playing and he chalks up the courage to talk to her. (He's squeaky and blushy, no game) Paige is in town for her grandmother's funeral, she remembers Eddie from the middle school talent show, though she is two years older. She likes his band because they're "real". She returns another night and Eddie (after some bad news that makes him desperate to chase his future) propositions her to get them a record deal. She's insulted, having told Eddie that guys use her for that reason, but they agree to work together. Paige pays for the studio time for cc to record the demo tape. In the meantime, Paige meets Al and Eddie is beside himself the entire time, not wanting her to find out the dirty work they're doing to fund his future. Then, Paige's boss only likes Eddie, and when she delivers this news, Eddie expresses that he doesn't want to ditch his band, but she says this will benefit both of them. So he agrees and it's implied they start hooking up, never making things official. She leaves for California and he's supposed to go later for his audition and stay with her. This doesn't happen, Eddie's heist with Al lands him temporarily in jail, and over a heated phone call, things end between them. It's implied that Paige pays his bail but never speaks to him again.
- Tommy Hayes: It's debatable whether this is supposed to be Tommy H from the show, whether his last name was always Hagan or if that was a fanon thing. Given his proximity to the jocks and being bitter that Steve has changed since dating Nancy, it's supposed to be Tommy H from the show. He's extremely violent in the book, which doesn't track so much with Tommy in the show, who's more of a shit-talker lackey. This Tommy bullies Eddie for being poor, a freak, and the son of a criminal. He bullies the whole Hellfire club and beats Eddie up on two occasions, punches Ronnie (accidentally?) when she tries to protect Gareth, and puts Gareth in the hospital. He faces no repercussions because the Principal is on his side, as Tommy's family is influential and rich.
- Principal Higgins: The principal of Hawkins High. Eddie is justified for wanting to flip him off in the show. Higgins has a ton of favoritism toward the kids from well off influential families, like jocks and preppy students, and always takes their side even when Eddie (and friends) are the ones bruised and beaten. He's a Bible thumper and hates Hellfire and also hates Eddie because he's a Munson, considers him a rotten apple that poisons the bunch. He wants Eddie to drop out to rid the school of the Hellfire club. After the brawl between the jocks and Hellfire, Higgins convinces Eddie that it's his fault his friends are considered freaks and get bullied. He blackmails Eddie into dropping out by threatening to jeopardize Ronnie's scholarship to NYU. Eddie eventually comes to his senses and finds his fire again when everything falls through. He gets re-enrolled in school and turns things around by blackmailing Higgins. At this point, he knows Higgins buys drugs from Reefer Rick, and uses that information to force Higgins to let Hellfire continue and leave him and his friends alone.
- Officer Moore: A Hawkins cop who has it out for Eddie. He's described as having a blond buzz cut, a square jaw, Superman level All-American looks. He has a growing mid-forties beer gut. He pulls Eddie and Ronnie over in Eddie's van, Eddie sasses the shit out of him since apparently he pulls Eddie over a lot trying to find reasons to arrest him, just because he's a Munson. But he has to let them go.
- CJ and Toby: These are two goons that worked with Al under the same boss, Charlie Greene, one of the biggest drug kingpins in Oregon. They are transporting the truck with the drugs that Al enlists Eddie to help him rob. Eddie and Al successfully rob the truck, but CJ and Toby show up to their house days later. While holding Eddie and Al at gunpoint looking for the drugs, It's revealed that Al didn't owe money because he borrowed it, he stole it because he got greedy. Eddie was under the impression that he was saving his dad from enforcers that would come to collect the debt eventually, not helping him steal more from them. Al wasn't in prison like he told Eddie, he was living large as Charlie Greene's right hand man, never sending Eddie a dime. At this point, Eddie and Al have already sold the stolen drugs to Reefer Rick, so Al turns over the 15 grand of money to CJ and Toby. They think it's settled, but CJ decides to set the house on fire too, since Al embarrassed them with the boss. The only reason they don't kill Eddie and Al is because Officer Moore shows up, having been following Eddie. Instead, CJ shoots Officer Moore in the leg and then he and Toby flee. Eddie immediately goes to help the officer (despite hating Moore) while Al is telling Eddie to come on so they can run. Eddie feels like its their fault Moore was shot and won't leave him, Al says he didn't realize Eddie was this much of a fool. Eddie tries to get him to stay because he needs him, but Al leaves him anyway and Eddie is devastated and numb. He's arrested when cops show up.
- Jim Hopper: Hopper brings Eddie a cup of water and talks to him while he's in lockup for the night. He calls Eddie "Junior" but Eddie's too numb at that point to care. He says they know that Eddie tried to help Moore, but he's being held for arson because of the house, until he makes bail. Hopper is really trying to give Eddie a break, knowing he helped Moore, and talks a bit about Eddie's dad. He says something cryptic about knowing Al in school and how every time something went down, Al was usually at the center. Hopper does Eddie a favor and lets him use the phone in his office, where Eddie calls Paige. Hours later, Hopper tells him he made bail and that Wayne is there to get him.
- Chrissy Cunningham: Eddie remembers Chrissy from the talent show. Eddie's dad was supposed to be there, but didn't show up, meanwhile Chrissy is disappointed that her mom did show up. A lot like the show, it's minimal but Chrissy is sweet with troubled undertones. Eddie's surprised she even talks to him, but she's nice and says she'd cheer for him if his dad didn't show. Fast forward to high school, when the jocks are giving Eddie flack, Chrissy tries to get them to stop. Then they try to lie to the principal and say Eddie was bothering Chrissy. Chrissy says it's a lie but Jason quickly silences her.
- Bev: The owner of the Hideout bar. She's a very no nonsense drill sergeant kind of lady. She keeps Eddie humble, calls him Junior despite him asking her not to, always tells him to get a haircut and doesn't like his band at all, though she lets them play there as part of the exchange for Eddie working there. The stage is just some rickety wood that her late husband built. It's implied she had something to do with his death. She's strict and doesn't give anything out for free, only Al is able to charm her out of a free pitcher of beer when he's celebrating Eddie (temporarily) dropping out of school, which stuns Eddie. When Eddie quits the job chasing his California dream, she admits she'll miss their band and that's that.
- Janice: Principal Higgins secretary who equally hates Eddie and favors jocks and preppy students. She wears coke bottle glasses that magnify her eyes and has a fanatical obsession with purple.
- Stan: A junior member of Hellfire who had to sneak around his parents to go to meetings by pretending to be at algebra tutoring, as they consider D&D to be Satanic. When his parents find out, they write a letter to the school, condemning Hellfire club and saying they sent Stan to a church program to cleanse him. Higgins shows Eddie this letter to make him feel guilty and responsible.
-Nicole Summers and Cass Finnigan: These girlies are mentioned in one sentence but I don't know where else to put this info. Eddie implies these are the two other hookups he had before Paige, once in grade ten and once senior year, saying that he could tell they were only doing it for the dare of getting with the freak. Though, he wasn't looking to be anybody's boyfriend. He compares them to Paige, who he feels like genuinely likes him
- Steve Harrington: He doesn't actually appear in the book but his balls get a mention so he's going on the list. The only thing to note is that Steve doesn't approve of any freshman getting beat up, to the point where the jocks do it behind his back and Jason Carver is worried about him finding out. Tommy says Steve doesn't have any balls since dating Nancy Wheeler. Eddie defends Steve's balls, saying Tommy can't talk about someone else having no balls when he gets his kicks beating up freshman.
- Will and Jonathan Byers: At the end of the book, in a record shop, Will and Jonathan walk in. Eddie recognizes Will from his missing posters and recalls the events where Will had a funeral yet somehow was found alive. Jonathan goes to the back for a certain record, and while Will is alone, Eddie watches as a few younger jocks come into the store and start hounding him, calling him zombie boy. Eddie takes up for him, goads the jocks and gets them to take it out on him, takes a baseball to the chest and they leave. Eddie tells Will that Zombie Boy is metal as shit and Jonathan thanks Eddie when he comes back. Eddie offers Jonathan weed and says Jonathan is way too offended by the question for someone with his haircut. This whole interaction solidifies Eddie's new sense of purpose, collecting and protecting sheep.
- Granny Ecker: Ronnie's grandmother. She's not a big part of the story at all but she lives in the trailer park too. She's a wooden spoon wielding grandma character. Eddie calls her Granny too and she worries about Wayne and makes Eddie bring him casseroles and stuff. it's just cute so I'm including it.

There was a calmness to the club tonight. This was surprising given the fact there was currently a baby dragon sleeping in the staff only lounge. Sol had found the little guy on the way into work. The copper dragon couldn't just leave the youngling there, partly because someone could hurt the defenseless dragon and partly because the baby dragon was following him like a lost puppy. So Sol went with the good old-fashioned "ask for forgiveness." Route as brought the baby in so he wasn't late for their session with one of their sugar daddies. The bosses both dragons themselves, seemed to be okay with it, Ben more so than Oliver, but a win is a win. And besides that, it seemed like a peaceful start to a good night at the club.
Until it wasn't. A very upset form came bursting from one of the private rooms, "Fuck you, you creepy asshole!" Solomon half yelled half growled back into the room for a second it looked like the dragon might even be crying. Solomon: "I bet you can't break me." Ecker was crying as he broke himself out of the cuffs his hands were bound in the front by in a hurried motion, bruising his wrists in the process. He was just wearing short shorts his sticker covered prosthetic leg on full display as it always was as he walked out to the floor followed by his now ex-sugar daddy. Who had the nerve to reach out and grab Sol and whisper something to him before the dragon pulled away harshly, "Don't you fucking touch me Alex, I mean it, we are done, do you hear me? DONE."
"Come on, pet, don't be like that. You're making a scene, come back to the room, and I promise to make it up to you after your punishment, of course." He smiled at Sol, who only looked more pissed off at that. Solomon punched him right in the nose, breaking it before storming off.
The room finally realizing this was infact a real fight and not some planned roleplay thing Sol forgot to mention to the club they were doing quickly got into motion people going over to the hurt patron and sending someone to go notify the owner on shift of what just happened a few people stayed by the doors now not wanting Alex to get away before talking to the boss but no one had gone after Sol. The dragon hid in a booth on the other side of the room away from everyone else as he tried to even out his breathing.

Canon things I've learned about Eddie thanks to Flight of Icarus.
Spoilers under cut. 👇
He's not a virgin. He's had sex with at least three different girls, and had a girlfriend---Paige Warner. Hawkins High, class of '82.
He had a best friend named Ronnie (Veronica Ecker) since he was eight. She's always been taller than him and they have a Steve/Robin dynamic. She might be aro/ace, she stated she didn't think she'd ever have a crush on anybody when he kissed her at age thirteen.
Eddie is eighteen as of 1984.
The van is his father's, or was.
His dad, Alan, is the reason he got into selling.
His father is also the reason why no one in Hawkins likes him. They look at him as Junior, that he'll be a "fuckup" just like his father. Plus Hellfire Club adds on to the trouble of it all.
Eddie didn't fail high school the first time, he dropped out. He was being blackmailed by Principal Higgins that he would get Ronnie's full-ride NYU scholarship pulled.
He got into music because of his mother, Elizabeth Franklin, who was from Memphis and got sick and died when he was only six. Only then did he understand sad lyrics and why people would want to write and listen to songs like that.
He's always stood up for the little guy, even if it gets him hurt or in trouble.
Gareth and him have a Dustin/Steve dynamic.
He stood up for Will when bullies were calling him Zombie Boy. He invited him to join Hellfire Club when he gets to high school.
He doesn't feed himself, or so Wayne believes. When he was still living alone, Uncle Wayne dropped him off groceries every two weeks.
Eddie flirts with everybody. Woman or man. It's the Munson magic that he's learned from his father. Big smiles and winks and "big boy" comments. He does it when he's scared as a defense mechanism. It's how he intimidates.
He used to work as a barback at the Hideout.
He recorded a demo with Corroded Coffin and got offered an audition in Hollywood for a record deal--only for himself, not the band. Which he missed because of the mess his father got them involved in. Thats also why he started working with Reefer Rick.
There's probably way more but that's all I can think of at the moment.

Metal band stevvveeeee
WIP Wednesday! Make me write!
Other ask here, here, here, here.
I have stolen the names from the book "The Flight of Icarus" but I am attaching my own canon to them. Doug is the bassist to fit with Jeff being guitar in the show, with Brian being his replacement, and I've always headcanonned Gareth being their second drummer because of how much younger he is than the rest of the band so I found out Ronnie was the original drummer, I snatched her up. No I have not read the book, I'm just name dropping for this scene, they won't actually appear in the story.
Snippet
“Nope,” he said shaking his head. “Our first bassist was Doug Teague and our first drummer was a girl named Ronnie Eckers. Ronnie’s parents forced her stop the band after the middle school talent show when I threw up the devil’s horns and they thought it was a gang sign.” Steve chuckled. “And Dougie, Dougie wasn’t made for fame and fortune. He wanted a simple life with a white picket fence and 2.5 children. He sent Brian a message when we put out our first single saying that it was Brian’s addition to the band that was the reason we made it big. Brian printed it out and has it taped to the inside of his bass case.”
“Holy shit,” Steve whispered. “I never knew. I thought you guys were like The Struts or whatever and never changed band members ever.”
Eddie smiled. “I’m glad you think we have that kind of chemistry, but no. It’s been a bit trial and error before we got this far.”

Chapter 12 - Rollercoaster
TW: self-harm
<prev | masterlist | next>
After his talk with Slade, Phil managed to get a hold of Mirage, telling her the news, to which she immediately popped over to congratulate him. They talked for hours as they walked aimlessly through the city, before Phil realised he was supposed to shop for dinner.
“Oh man, Aiden is going to kill me!” he said, “he gets so cranky when he’s hungry, especially when the cabinets are empty too!”
“Oh my~” Mirage said with a giggle, “oh! How about I bring you home, I go pick up Cat, we’ll bring some takeout and we’ll celebrate!”
“Heh, a lil party?” Phil said, “I bet he’ll cheer up for that! I haven’t even had the chance to tell him anything!”
“Well let’s go!” Mirage said, “you have a strong stomach, right?”
“Wait—”
But waiting was a foreign concept for the super as she grabbed his arm and teleported them to the alley behind the apartment building Phil and Aiden lived in.
“Ugh...does that ever get better?” Phil groaned after dry-heaving a bit.
“After a couple...dozens of jumps maybe?” Mirage said.
“Damn...Cat is hardcore,” Phil said, wiping some sweat from his brow, “okay, okay, I’m fine now. I’ll go inside, and I’ll see you in...half an hour? That’s a pretty average waiting time for takeout, right?”
“Yeah, sure!” Mirage said, “see you soon!”
She disappeared again, to which Phil walked around to the front and headed inside. Aiden was already home, considering he tripped over his bag on his way in, which was...unusual, since Aiden always took it into his room instead.
“Aiden?” Phil called, picking up the bag and placing it on the couch instead.
He checked his room, but it was empty, when he heard sobbing in the bathroom, only to find the door locked.
“Aiden, are you in there?” Phil called, rapping on the door, “is something wrong?”
“....go away,” Aiden said, surprisingly calm.
Phil frowned, considering giving him space, but something told him not to, so he knocked again, rattling the handle.
“Aiden! Unlock the door!”
He never meant to use his powers, but in hindsight he was glad he did. The lock clicked, and Phil had to force the door open, as his friend tried to relock it as soon as he snapped out of it again.
He backed away as the door swung open and Phil froze on the threshold. The sink and mirror were smeared with blood, bloody footprints and droplets on the floor, more blood dripping from his trembling arm.
“....dude?” Phil quietly said, “a-are you hurt? What happened?”
“P-Phil…”
Phil took a closer look at his friend. Blood was dripping from his left arm, and in his right hand, he was holding a very bloody razor.
“You did this to yourself?” the young man concluded, “why would you do that?”
“I-I...I don’t know…” Aiden said, shaking his head a bit.
He looked down at his hands, as if resisting the urge to continue.
“It’s him, isn’t it?” Phil asked, “the other guy? The evil one?”
Aiden bit his lip, staying quiet.
“Tell me!” Phil said, raising his voice slightly.
“H-he’s punishing me for letting Mr Ecker try and help and I was supposed to stay quiet and not tell anyone—” he gasped as he snapped out of it again, his breathing picking up as he dropped the razor and pulled his hands through his hair.
“W-what have I done?”
“C-calm down,” Phil said, “y-you didn’t do anything, it’s going to be alright.”
“It’s not alright!” Aiden shouted, “i-if I’m not good he’s going to hurt someone!”
“Well then I won’t let him!” Phil said, putting his hands on his friend’s shoulders, “look at me, buddy. Look at me.”
Aiden lowered his hands, sobbing a bit as he looked at Phil.
“W-what is happening?” he asked.
“I’ll explain later,” Phil promised, “just take a deep breath, we’ll get you cleaned up, and then I’ll take you to a doctor.”
“N-no! No doctor!” Aiden said.
“No?” Phil said, “o-okay, do you want me to call Slade?”
“N-no…”
“Father Tom then?”
Aiden shook his head, to which Phil sat him down on the edge of the bathtub.
“Aiden, I can’t help you out on my own,” he said, “please? I’ve got to call someone…”
“Hm...S-Slade…”
“Yeah?” Phil confirmed, “okay, I’ll call him, and then I’ll call Mirage to bring him over, okay?”
Aiden nodded, holding his trembling arm while Phil rolled up his sleeves, turning open the tub’s tap with nice, cool water.
“Here, run that over your arm, just like that, don’t drown yourself while I’m on the phone.”
Aiden nodded, running the water over his arm, while Phil picked up the razor he dropped, and quickly snatched any other sharp objects from the bathroom, leaving the door wide open as he quickly washed his hands, before grabbing the phone and calling Mirage.
“Hey, it’s me! Did you order take-out already?”
“Yeah Cat and I are just waiting for our order,” Mirage replied, “I hope it’s not too much, you boys have a huge appetite, right?”
“Oh.. listen, girl, I’m sorry, we’re gonna have to party some other time,” Phil said, “something’s up with Aiden...I’m going to call Slade, could you pick him up for me?”
“Goodness...s-sure! What happened?” Mirage said.
“I’ll explain later,” Phil said, “I’ll text you when I’ve called Slade, you’ll know where to go.”
“S-sure! Take care!”
After calling Slade, Phil spent his time waiting by cleaning up the blood from the sink and mirror, keeping an eye on Aiden as he kept running water over his arm, staring off into the distance. He didn’t even look up when Mirage called out, and Slade walked in after Phil replied.
“Can you give us a moment, Phil?” Slade said after a quick glance at the situation.
“But…”
“It’s just a bit crowded in here otherwise,” Slade said, “don’t worry I know what I’m doing.”
Phil nodded and headed out, joining Mirage in the living room. It seemed she had brought the food after all, but let it sit on the counter.
“Are you okay, Phil?” she asked gently.
“Y-yeah...just a bit shaken,” Phil replied, lowering his voice, “he was cutting himself.”
“O-oh dear…” Mirage said, “has he ever...before?”
“Not that I know,” Phil said, “I think.”
“Come sit down, we’re here for you,” Mirage said, nudging him to take a seat on the couch.
Meanwhile Slade was gently dabbing at the cuts on Aiden’s arm, using an antiseptic, but the young man seemed rather numb.
“Does this hurt?” Slade asked, pressing a little bit harder than he normally would.
“...a bit,” Aiden quietly said, still staring off into space.
“Well...I don’t think you’ll need sutures,” Slade continued, “they’re just scratches really...I’ll wrap a bandage around it and you’ll be good to go, arite?”
“....okay.”
“You look like you can use a nap,” Slade said, pulling out the promised bandages, but it seemed Aiden wasn’t very talkative.
“You uh...gave your friend a bit of a scare now, didn’t you?” Slade said. “Well, don’t worry about it. I reckon he’ll get over it. Now, let’s get you a bit more cleaned up and then straight into bed.”
He pulled out a packet of wet-wipes, with a sweet lemon scent and gently cleaned the blood off of Aiden’s face and a little out of his hair. Then he got him to his feet, helping him stumble out of the bathroom. Phil pointed them towards Aiden’s room, holding the door open for them, not sure if he should give them privacy or not, when Aiden suddenly called for him.
“Phil...y-you said you could stop him?”
“Stop who?” Slade asked.
“I-I can give it a shot,” Phil said, “ah, sorry, Slade. It’s not my place to explain it to you…”
“I understand,” Slade said, “do you want me to step outside?”
“Just...for a minute,” Aiden quietly said.
Slade nodded and went back to the living room, leaving the two young men alone. Phil sat next to Aiden on the edge of his bed.
“So um...apparently I have some sort of commanding powers,” Phil said, “it’s...how I stopped that shooter from killing you before Cat could take him down, I made our landlord forget he had seen a visitor, and I made my boss stop shouting at me in the middle of a fit. I made Cat sit down on the couch while we were testing things out...and I think just now I got you to unlock the door and fes up to what was going on with you…”
“...whoa,” Aiden said, “do...d-do you think you could get him to...to stop? To leave me alone?”
“Maybe...but I’m not sure, or for how long?” Phil said, “but I’ll try. Look at me…do you think he can see or hear me?”
“U-use his name?” Aiden suggested.
Phil nodded, putting his hands on Aiden’s shoulders and peering into his eyes.
“Amon,” he said, “back away from my friend. Stop hurting him. Stop trying to control him.”
Aiden blinked a bit as Phil continued to stare intensely, when all of a sudden, he felt like a weight lifted off of his chest.
“I-I think it worked?”
“Really?”
“Y-yeah, I feel...I feel less heavy? Like I can breathe again,” Aiden said, “h-he’s still there, I can feel him, but...he can’t reach the controls?”
“Holy shit?” Phil said, before realising his mistake as Aiden frowned, “sorry! I know, I know, language— cough— But let’s be real, that’s kind of amazing, right?” he said, scraping his throat a bit, feeling as if he’d breathed in a speck of dust all of a sudden.
“Thank you, Phil,” Aiden said, “I...I think I’m okay for now...just exhausted.”
“I’ll let you get some sleep,” Phil said, but didn’t leave before checking Aiden’s desk and grabbing a pair of scissors and a couple pencils.
“Just in case,” he said.
“Thanks,” Aiden said, “a-and thank Slade for me...and Mirage too of course.”
“I will, I will, you just get some sleep now, okay?” Phil said, before closing the door behind him before joining the others.
He coughed a bit more as he dumped the scissors and pencil with the razors and scissors from the bathroom before joining the others.
“You want some water, Phil?” Mirage asked, concerned.
“Yes please, I’ve got one helluva dry throat all of a sudden.”
“Do you have any allergies?” Slade asked, opening his bag again.
“No? Why— Agh?”
Slade had pulled out a flat wooden stick, fixing Phil’s head with a gentle grip of his jaw, while with his other hand he used the stick to put his tongue down.
“Hm...it looks a bit inflamed, but you weren’t coughing before?” Slade asked.
“Uh-uh,” Phil replied, shaking his head slightly.
“And for it to occur so suddenly...did you use your powers again on Aiden just now?”
He finally let go of Phil, allowing the young man to nod properly.
“Fascinating,” Slade said, “considering your powers originate from your vocal chords, it could be that overuse causes the same damage that you can see in professional singers or someone that’s been screaming all day.”
“But...I don’t scream?” Phil said.
“But your vocal chords still vibrate in a way that they don’t when speaking naturally,” Slade said, “I’m not saying you’re screaming, it’s like you’re screaming.”
“What...what happens when I use it too much?” Phil asked, remembering how fatigued Mirage was after teleporting the subway train.
“In your case I reckon your main complaints will be a sore throat, perhaps some loss of function, possibly general fatigue too, like all supers get when using their powers. The same way a bodybuilder gets tired from lifting heavy weights,” Slade explained.
“I see,” Phil said.
“And using your powers is new to you, so you’ll be fatigued sooner,” Mirage added, “it’s like a muscle that you need to train and maintain.”
“That makes sense,” Phil said, “anyway, uh...thanks a lot for coming, I wasn’t sure what to do on my own…”
“That’s what friends are for,” Mirage said, “to teleport immortal doctors right to your bathroom door~! Also I see you’ve been using the plates I got you!”
“Yeah, Aiden insisted,” Phil said, “I’m still not used to washing dishes though...oh well. I bet you’re dying to go home now, doc?”
“Would if I could,” Slade said, “dying I mean. Heh...either way, next to the yacht please, las. I don’t want to vomit on deck again, I’ll just spew right into the Hudson.”
“Aye aye doc!” Mirage said, doing a silly salute before grabbing his arm. “Take care, Phil, enjoy the food!”
Phil waved absent-mindedly as the two of them disappeared into thin air. He took a moment to tidy up a bit, before checking on Aiden, finding he had simply kicked his shoes off and passed out. Relieved that he seemed okay now, Phil did exactly the same and passed out in his own bed.
Slade had certainly sobered up from the experiences he had that day. A potentially powerful super was coming into his powers, and he still had no idea what happened to him during the six years he had been missing, or what happened to his friend, and his friend’s daughter…
Still, that was no excuse to mope around, so after Mirage dropped him off home, he pulled out his notes and decided to continue his investigation. Before Ecker had called him over to dig around in his memories, he’d been looking into the involvement of the Hatter, considering asking King of Hearts and White Rabbit about him, since he didn’t get the chance last time. He checked the time on his watch, before deciding to see if they were hanging around their usual area that night.
When he arrived, he only had to follow the excited chatter of the crowd, as they all excitedly watched how King and White handed over a thief to the police. Slade waited for them to finish up, before pushing his way past the fangirls to approach them.
“You’re much younger than I imagined,” he said, ignoring the gaping crowd.
“You’re not as old as I imagined,” King shot back, to which White facepalmed.
“Ignore him,” he said, “is there any news of...y-you know?”
“I’m afraid not, lad,” Slade said, “no I just wanted to ask a couple things about the Mad Hatter, I’m told you two are somewhat of an expert on the subject?”
“Only because he likes to show up and taunt us frequently,” King said, “what do you wanna know about him?”
“You said he taunts you?” Slade said, “does he treat it like a game?”
“Yeah usually,” King said, “usually just knocks us around a bit then takes off.”
“Others aren’t usually that lucky,” White added, shuddering a bit.
“Yes, I’ve heard,” Slade said, “would he cooperate with others?”
“If he is, he’s probably toying with them too,” King said with a shrug, “why? Has he been seen with others?”
“No, but the police informed me there are two more supervillains with an Alice in Wonderland theme for their disguises,” Slade said, “surely that cannot be a coincidence?”
“Depends,” King said, “what kinda powers do they have?”
“Unknown,” Slade said, “not enough detail that is. But they go by Cheshire Cat and Alice.”
“Ugh,” White said, “my mom’s name is Alice, that’s so weird…”
“Yes, but surely it can’t be her,” Slade said, “last time I checked she was still hospitalised.”
“Definitely,” White said, “I...visited her yesterday. But she didn’t recognise me.”
“I’m sorry to hear that,” Slade said, “so, you two have no idea if Hatter would work with two other villains with the same...theme?”
“Not a clue,” King said, “but it also wouldn’t surprise me. I’m fairly certain the only reason he comes to “play” with us is because we have that same theme.”
He drew the quotation marks in the air.
“I see,” Slade said, “I suppose I’ll keep looking then. Thank you for your time.”
“No problem,” King said.
“Can we exchange numbers?” White asked, “keep each other in the loop?”
“Of course,” Slade said, “this is going to sound silly, but I’ll need a hand…”
King and White tried not to laugh as they attempted to show Slade how to add new contacts, before saying their goodbyes. Slade made sure to thank them, before walking off, wanting to clear his head as he walked home, when his phone buzzed in his pocket. He pulled it out and opened the message. It was from an unknown number, so it couldn’t have been from the two boys.
‘Why is a raven like a writing desk?’
Slade frowned, recognising the nonsense riddle. Were King and White playing a joke on him? He shrugged, putting his phone away and going back to thinking.
After the incident in the bathroom, Aiden felt like a weight had been lifted off his shoulders. He could still feel and hear Amon, but he couldn’t do anything to control or hurt him, which made it much easier to simply ignore him. He could attend classes again, and even convinced Mr Ecker to let him pick up a few shifts that week.
Quiet evening shifts in the middle of the week, just after the after-work rush, leaving behind the quiet regulars that liked to sit in a booth and read or work on their laptops. The regulars that mainly communicated by placing the saucer of their cups on top of it or next to it to indicate if they wanted a refill or not.
Aiden quite liked the quiet moments, especially when they tipped him for his silence. It also gave him the time to chat with people that sat at the bar, since they were either his friends or just more talkative in general. On Tuesday night, he got a visit from King of Hearts, sitting at the bar while he pulled out a crumpled worksheet.
“Hi,” he said after Aiden’s usual greeting, “can I borrow a pen? I’m supposed to meet someone, figured I should do some overdue homework while I wait.”
“Sure,” Aiden said, “you wanna order something too?”
“Uh...coffee with milk, please.”
Aiden nodded, handing him a pen from his own bag before making him coffee.
“Any chance you tutor geology?” King asked, scratching his head a bit.
“Nope, sorry,” Aiden said, “but I graduated high school with flying colours so I can attempt to help? What year are you in?”
“Junior, but it’s not going great,” King said with a sigh, “I’m just not the studying type, but mom will have my head if I drop out.”
“She probably just wants what’s best for you,” Aiden said, giving a sympathetic smile before turning to the next customer.
“Welcome to— Oh! Hi Slade,” he said.
“You just keep showing up much sooner than expected,” Slade said, “how are you doing, Love?”
“Honestly, I’m surprised too,” Aiden said, “but I feel great, I promise. The usual?”
“That’s good. And yes, please. I’ll take it in a booth with King here, gotta use the restroom first.”
“Okay, you know the way,” Aiden said, beginning on his order, while King thanked Aiden for his own coffee and picked out an empty booth, stuffing his homework sheet back into his pocket.
Aiden had his back turned when the bell by the door chimed again, and he turned around to greet the next customer, only to be taken aback by his sheer size.
It was as if a giant had walked into the shop, stepping through the door sideways because he didn’t fit otherwise. He wore a thick, woollen coat, making him look even bigger. His thick grey hair had been brushed backwards, but was a little messed up from the furry hat that he politely removed upon stepping inside. He had a bushy beard and eyebrows, small eyes, which peered at Aiden as the giant approached.
“Brain,” he said.
“Excuse me?” Aiden asked, not sure he heard it right.
The giant seemed to mull over his thoughts, before asking again, speaking in a thick, Russian accent.
“Vhere is Brain?”
“Um...I’m afraid I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Aiden lied, not just wanting to sell out his boss like that.
Big mistake. The giant reached across the counter, grabbing the young man by his apron and lifting him half on top of the counter.
“Brain is always ghere,” he growled.
“Hey!” King called as he jumped up, “pick on someone your own size!”
The giant glared at him, while some of the regulars were slowly getting up as well, glaring right back at him.
“Quiet,” the giant just said, “I am talking to little waiter ghere.”
“L-listen, I don’t know any Brain,” Aiden quickly said, “just put me down, maybe I can help you find them?”
The giant growled a bit in thought, when suddenly the bathroom door slammed open as Slade came out.
“Vitality!” he said, “what are you doing in New York?!”
“Slade!” the giant shouted, promptly letting go of Aiden, to which he fell over backwards.
His face cracked into a smile as he laughed loudly while approaching Slade.
“HA! Ya ne mogu v eto poverit! Slade!”
He pulled the old healer into a hug, and Aiden could’ve sworn he could hear Slade’s ribs crack while he picked himself up, shooting all the customers a thumbs up, to which they all settled a bit. Slade continued chatting with the giant Russian, and Aiden thought he picked up the word ‘Voicemail.’
“One sec, old friend. Aiden, love, do you have an Americano for Vitaliy here? I’ll just wrap up with King and I’ll take him off your hands.”
“Ah, sure, just tell him not to pull on my apron again,” Aiden said.
“I apologise, he gets excited,” Slade said.
“That’s an understatement,” Aiden sighed, before giving Slade his coffee and working on Vitaliy’s order.
Slade checked on them over his shoulder as he sat down with King and showed him the message he had gotten a couple days ago.
“I thought you or White were playing a prank, but I’ve been receiving classic Carol Lewis nonsense riddles and rhymes several times a day since,” he said, “is there anything known about that?”
“No, holy crap?” King said, taking his phone and scrolling through the messages, “did you ask the police?”
“They told me to ask you,” Slade said with a shrug, “it’s not part of Hatter’s current MO, but he’s chaotic enough to evolve to this level of taunting.”
“Christ...I hope he’s not after you because you’ve been asking around,” King said, “White and I have been lucky, but he’s a nasty fucker. Who knows how far he’d go with you and your ability.”
“Don’t worry about me, lad,” Slade said, “a lil face-to-face might be exactly what I need.”
“Don’t underestimate him, sir,” King said, “he can hurt you in ways you can’t even imagine.”
“I’ll tell my friends to watch their backs too,” Slade said with a shrug, “thank you for your time. I’ll get the check.”
“Don’t say I didn’t warn you!” King said, shaking his head a bit, before getting up, leaving a tip on the table before heading out.
Meanwhile Slade joined his big friend at the counter, who was trying to explain in limited English to Aiden why he had sporadically flown over to the United States.
“He left voicemail, and I call back, but calling America expensive, so wife say I fly to see, and ghere I am!”
“Oh yes, international calls cost a fortune.” Aiden agreed, smiling as Slade joined them, “Hi, your friend was just telling me why he’s visiting the US.”
“I heard,” Slade said, “did he apologise for pulling on your apron?”
“He said something in Russian and then said it means sorry,” Aiden said, “I said I forgive him.”
Vitaliy nodded to back him up, to which Slade smiled.
“Good, good,” he said, “I would love nothing more than for my old friends and new friends to get along.”
“Well that’s easy,” Aiden said, “I get along with everyone.”
“How very convenient,” Slade said.
Aiden chuckled as he went to clean the booth he just used with King, to which Vitaliy gave Slade a nudge, nearly knocking him over. The two of them chatted more in Russian, Vitaliy laughing a lot, while Slade seemed a bit dismissive, shaking his head a lot.
Aiden paid them no mind, leaving them to their private conversation while he worked. He poured a couple more Americanos for Vitaliy, and a simple black coffee for Slade, before Slade finally moved to the register to pay.
“Did you ring me up for King’s order too?” he checked.
“Yup, all there,” Aiden confirmed, “cash or card?”
“Cash, of course. So much easier,” Slade said, pulling out his wallet.
He handed him a couple bills, stuffing another one into the tip jar, while Aiden figured out his change.
“Here you go,” he said, holding out his hand to give Slade a couple of coins.
In one smooth movement, Slade took the coins, and his hand, pressing a quick kiss on it.
“Thank you~”
Aiden didn’t look so amused as he pulled his hand from his grip.
“Dude, ew,” he said, wiping his hand on his apron, “go be cheesy somewhere else.”
“Just teasing~” Slade said with a wink, “Vitaliy, davai.”
“Coming,” Vitaliy replied, getting up and inclining his head at Aiden, “spasiba, little waiter.”
“Have a good night, sir,” Aiden replied, “enjoy your stay in America!”
Once outside, Slade gave Vitaliy a nudge, though he hardly seemed to notice.
“Make a move you said!” Slade said, “what’s the worst thing he can say you said!”
“Vhat he say?” Vitaliy asked.
“He said ew,” Slade said, “do you know what that means?”
“Is uh...yucky? Disgust?” Vitaliy said.
“Exactly!” Slade said, facepalming, “Gods who am I kidding? I’m just not meant to be with anyone. Why did I let you egg me on?”
“...yaytso?” Vitaliy said, confused.
Slade waved his hand dismissively.
“It’s just an expression, don’t worry about it,” he said, “just no more romantic advances! Now let’s find you a place to stay. William’s apartment is not far from here.”

So I read Flight of Icarus and it wasn’t that bad.
I love that Eddie got his love for music from his mom. She sounded like a cool lady gone too soon. It’s cute that he shares her initials.
Al Munson can rot.
Wayne should be protected at all costs. I hate how people lump all the Munsons together when Al is the only real bad one. Wayne always had Eddie’s back and I love that.
Higgins can rot too. I hate that stereotype of the jocks getting away with bullying while their victims get in trouble.
Bev is cool for the most part. I didn’t mind the idea of Eddie also working at the Hideout.
It was cool to get a glimpse of another Hellfire campaign with Eddie as DM. Also kind of cool to get a glimpse of earlier versions of the characters we saw on the show.
Ronnie was cool. I can see why she and Eddie were compared to Robin and Steve. Love that Granny Ecker was cool with Eddie too. At least until he upset Ronnie. It was cool to see Ronnie not backing down to the bullies.
Paige. I expected her to be terrible given everyone’s reactions to her, but she really isn’t that bad. Eddie was his cute dorky self with her. I was surprised that she bailed him out after their argument though. It’s funny that people think Eddie was a virgin with no game. Man had Chrissy skipping up to his doorway. He had her smitten with him in the woods. But I digress.
Chrissy my love. She was so badass standing up for Gareth and Eddie. This book just made me love her more. I loved the flashback to the night of the talent show. She and Eddie were adorable.
Reefer Rick was pretty much just how I had headcanoned him.
Eddie meeting the Byers boys and protecting Will was awesome. I love that Will got the first invite to Hellfire. I wish Eddie knew how the boys didn’t want to play DnD with Will in season three. Oh he would have reamed them out.
I appreciate the Warners for being welcoming to Eddie. Props to Mr. Warner for calling Wayne a good guy. Sure, Eddie had to downplay stuff a bit, but it was nice to see a family like Paige’s not immediately brush off Eddie as no good.
Eddie deserved to live and to graduate. This book just made it clear how even more unfair it was that his storyline ended the way it did. There was a lot of foreshadowing to it in the book too.
It was also pretty cool to see Corroded Coffin band moments. I still think Dougie is the unnamed member of the band since they did say their rehearsal space was in his garage and that kind of does match up with what was shown in Season 4. Although he’s supposed to be a senior in the book so that doesn’t line up. I don’t really know if he is the unnamed band member or not.
Also unless I read wrong, did they really mess up Gareth’s wrist when he’s a drummer? Only to have Jason mess up his hand in season four? That was uncalled for. Leave Gare alone.
I appreciate how understanding Hop was with Eddie. I think deep down even he knew Eddie was a good kid for the most part.
Eddie’s LOTR monologues were just so Eddie lol. It was cool to see Ronnie try to help him with his studies though. Hurt to see him call the assigned reading for English bland, but I get it. There were some books we had to read for English that I didn’t like either.
It was a nice touch that they mentioned Eddie enjoying comics. Especially the Xmen ones since it kind of confirms he got the Hellfire Club name from the Xmen comics.
All in all, not a bad book. Third ST novel I read. Lucas on the Line was really good despite the descriptions of Eddie not really being accurate. Also read the Hopper book which was pretty good too.

"Jimmy Page Is Getting Married~!" (Nascence Fic World Article~)...
The 68-year-old legendary Zeppelin guitarist and his soon-to-be bride who is 46 years his junior have made it official. Soraya Montes 22, just posted pics of her in a lush forest in what appears to be a wedding dress, veil & all.
No word on if it is to be THE dress, though sources say it's unlikely. There is also no word on if somehow Page has managed to put a ring on it in a cloak-and-dagger fashion befitting his low-profile lifestyle.
Page has already made two trips down the aisle with the mothers of his youngest four children. His eldest Scarlet was sired with his common-law wife & long-term partner, model Charlotte Martin. After her, he was partnered with his first wife, Patricia Ecker who gave birth to his first son James III. His next wife Jimena Gomez-Paratcha gave him his following three children, the children they had together Ashen & Zofia in addition to her daughter Jana whom he adopted.
His new fiancee Soraya Montes is most noted for being a young creative. A poet hailing from Los Angeles, with a handful of public readings to her name, she met Page at the turn of the decade through her ties to IYTAL, the International Young Talent Advancement League, a favored artistic leaning haunt of Page's. She is known for her stream-of-consciousness poetry either handwritten and/or typed & posted to her social media. Page was later seen squiring her around town & attending her readings as he does to this day.
It seems the countless awards shows & events he attends, most recently with her on his arm, are not to be the last time we see the ever-dapper Mr. Page in Black Tie.
Let's hope that the third time is the charm for him & the first time sticks for her. Best of wishes to the happy & creative couple. May they remain ever happy & ever creative.
~
Hope you guys like~!
As ever this is forever under construction~!

now that the first half of the season’s over…
SOLID STATE S1 PT. 1 DETAIL POST
(I’m quite obsessed still, strap in it's gonna be a long one. I'll put it under a Keep Reading for your dashes)
(each episode is one image, more or less, sometimes that’ll change but it’ll be listed. Also will have observations from my last post in it)
🩷CHAPTER 1: TAKEOVER💚
Takeover 1
Newspapers from Perth detailing another 50 degree summer in 2037, civil unrest, something with the world's newest trillion ?, and a newspaper from 2052
Concordia(n) Minerals sign
Dian's billboard to join WNDR
Shot of Egan, Recurring Background Character guy, and The Reporter
Recurring Union officials at a rally with a large mob facing the blonde police person
The Student walking in the Lower City
Prakash mentioning his meeting with the Temple of the Golden Hand that morning
Takeover 2
The implication of crime syndicates in the Lower City
One gang called The Vipers, headed by someone named Bishop
Eijiro being from a part of the Lower City called the Red Gate District (I’m assuming red gates that reference the ones in Japan that spirits can’t cross through, and Eiji’s more Japanese-leaning name, which translates to “reflective second son”(Google), which makes sense since he’s the second guy Prakash picked up out of the takeover gang 🤯)
Castel standing on a Tanser Tech truck
Takeover 3
Prakash telling Enzo to do as he's told, with a special highlight in his eye alluding to their past
Sign over the road saying "Remember your cooperation is required by law" which is...yikes
Takeover 4
The flying jav that Castel and Eiji use to get out of there in Takeover 8 being their wedding gift
The poisoned champagne being from Rook Tanser himself
The first shots of Tanser, Ecker, Aurun, Ramsay, and Iolanthe
"You know what they say... Prakash Malik knows how to invest!"
Prakash viewing both Enzo and Asha as "investments" which is... yikes. Eiji too I guess 😬
Takeover 5
"This is between me and him." Prakash is the one who had Enzo's eyes replaced, hence the focus on it (see Inheritance)
"Finally got the guts to make a move, eh?" Enzo tried to make a move in the past, and it didn't work (see Inheritance)
I think I deciphered Prakash's blurred dialogue
"I thought I taught you better than appealing to sentiment." (see Inheritance: “Enzo’s use may yet run out, and I will not hesitate over sentimentality.”)
Takeover 6
"You should be packing!" For Mars (see Inheritance)
Asha questioning Enzo’s eyes
Panel implying Enzo maybe disappointed Prakash in the past, resulting in his new eyes (they’re specially highlighted so maybe)
Enzo cutting Eiji off at the mention of Bruno, implying there's some special chemistry with them
Takeover 7
Castel wanting a panic room, mentioning they started to be built after some uprising
Meselon dealing with public health in Concordia
Asha's cybernetic contracts with Tanser Tech ( O_O ) (see Two of a Kind)
Ecker Byse owning the police force
Tanser Tech bribing every politician in the city
Takeover 8
Ramsay Hanan, of Hanan Heavy Industries
Ecker Byse, of Aegis Solutions International
Iolanthe Lieberthal III, Admiral-in-Exile of Heliodyne (Martian???)
Aurun Kastor-Valko, of Meselon
Rook Tanser, of Tanser Technology Augments
These are the people we're up against hahahhhaha
💛CHAPTER 2: SURGE🖤
Surge 1
Prakash about to go to Asha's wedding (Takeover 1)
The news headline above the upper city entrance saying "Police investigate union link" about Prakash's death
Subway Panel 1: Anti-union advertising, Recurring Union Leader, Jules (see Two of a Kind 4)
Subway Panel 2: Jules, Malik Industries advertisement "More than a company, we're family", Get Ahead Gigs
Subway Panel 3: VR thing, Rent-A-Friend
The subway slowly emptying, leaving Dian alone in the third panel, because majority of people don't live in the Upper City
Surge 2
Shadowy figure near Dian
Recurring Background Guy
Thommo and Beaux (see Two of a Kind 4)
Weird Priest Man implying someone or something purchases the failed uploading experiments (and someone in the comments validated by Veldenmire for wondering who could profit off that many dead people... Asha) (see Two of a Kind and Inheritance)
Surge 3
Jamilah and Dian arguing in front of a WNDR Prakash mourning event billboard
It shows how WNDR has put a wedge between them, as well as how far Prakash's death reaches
Recurring journalist outside Dian's house
The Reporter there as well
Surge 4
WNDR was expensive for people to use when it was first made, so they made their own technology, sedative pills and headsets
A screenshot from the Solid State short story published in the 2020 Brain Anthology of the protagonist Anya using this technology, as well as the old headset
Dian using the old headset and having a rough time
Surge 7 & 8
Egan being interviewed by that reporter (see Two of a Kind 1)
Foreshadowing of the events of Two of a Kind, how the robots are malfunctioning
Enzo's fancy new boots (Veldenmire said he was “going through it” :( )
💙CHAPTER 3: TWO OF A KIND❤️
Two of a Kind 1
The Surge happening in Malik Tower
Egg being flown over a Hanan Heavy Industries building
Egg being flown by the spot where Castel crashed the jav
Enzo’s MEMORIES, specifically the shot of Prakash, Enzo holding a lighter to someone (Bruno?????), and Enzo moments before he got his eye surgery
Enzo’s TATTOOS, Veldenmire saying he has one from each of the Takeover crew, Aoife was here, Butch woz here, Eiji’s possibly being the knife through the heart one, and I can’t pinpoint what Bruno and Giannis could’ve given him
Making you the best you can be (the best at what man?????? being a lackey????????)
Two of a Kind 2 & 3
ICOMA being on Ico's chest, what does it stand for?
Cyborg technology being illegal for decades, started in the 2050s
Cannot control them like robots, but much stronger than humans
Doctor from the Temple of the Golden Hand working in this dump on the cyborgs
Two of a Kind 4
The WNDR billboard being cracked and smashed
Get Ahead Gigs dog
Jules
Thommo and Beaux
The architecture of the Upper/Middle City pressing down on the Lower (Veldenmire said in the comments somewhere that some buildings run all the way up and down, but the Upper is always seemingly above (oppressing) the lower)
Two of a Kind 5 & 6
The slogan on the top of the elevator for Malik Industries: "...Malik, we're more than a company, we're a family!" which just makes the whole situation with the Takeover squad a little sadder bc Prakash preached that to them and then used it as his company slogan
The workers wishing they joined the Union
Enzo’s full name: Vincenzo Della Vecchia (he’s Italian, I wonder what Prakash was doing in Italy to find him)
The billboards Egan’s passing with: The person Dian yelled at in Surge 2, another recurring newscaster, and the Recurring Union Leaders
Union standoff enters 6th month
💖MIDSEASON FINALE: INHERITANCE💖
Eiji’s sword originally being Asha’s
Prakash implying the existence of Mars colonies in the 2100s (Veldenmire saying in the comments: "OF COURSE colonies on Mars are a feature in this timeline! We've done plenty of fun world building up there, and perhaps... maybe we've already met some Martians" ) (WHO'S A MARTIAN?????????)
Prakash using Asha to get what he wants (she learned from him how to use others)
ALSO SORRY IT’S NOT PICTURED BUT Asha blaming The Temple of the Golden Hand and the Lower City Union for killing Prakash
Enzo tried to make an attempt on Prakash’s life, and failed
Then as punishment Prakash replaced his eyes
Again he thought of him as an investment (see Takeover 4)
He’s been in pain ever since (poor guy… 🥺)
Jamilah and Dave asking people if Dian saved them during the Surge
Butcher…
The Reporter on a call, suspecting the turn of events for the Malik case
Anti-Union advertising on the subway (Concordia Business Council?)
Aofie…
Castel!!!! Not wearing only white!! They look good in pink!!
*deep sigh, trying not to scream* Asha’s Elite Units being the cyborgs of Butcher, Aofie, Giannis, and Bruno (she’s using Bruno specifically to break Enzo, implying again a special relationship between them)
WHAT COMES NEXT?
Chapters 4, 5, and 6 will focus on these three here, who I’ve dubbed The Student, The Reporter, and The Brawler. We saw The Student in Takeover 1, and they’re in this other art by Veldenmire here. I assume they’ll cross paths with Eiji and Castel since they’re taking shelter in the lower city right now, and they’ll be caught in the middle while they’re both trying to outrun Giannis. Perhaps they’ll give us a small insight into the education system here in Concordia. The Reporter will obviously be showing us the journalistic world of Concordia. They painted a target on their back by pressing Asha with all those questions, so naturally one of the Elites is coming after them. Perhaps they’ll cross paths with Jamilah and Dave, covering their story, and then they’ll both have to dodge Butcher and Aofie (*sniff* this is not how they should be reunited waaaaaa). The Brawler I know nothing about, haha. I give them this name because they look like they’ve seen some action with their eyebrow scars (or could just be design who knowwwwws), and their expression looks joyfully poised for a fight. I wonder what the paint on their eyes is for. Maybe they’ll cross paths with Enzo and Bruno, and we’ll learn more about them. But I mean as much as I want out new protags to meet up with other storylines and previous protags, I know they still need to have their own stories, so I won’t put too much stock into that. Overall I’m quite excited they let us see them; letting me form these theories by just looking at their eyes is kinda cool.
Aaaaaand you’ve rEACHED THE END! THANK YOU FOR READING MY VERY LONG POST ABOUT VERY NICHE WEBTOON! SOMEONE’S GOTTA GIVE IT SOME LOVE, WITH HOW BEAUTIFULLY CRAFTED IT IS, AND IF THAT PERSON HAS TO BE ME, IT WILL BE. THE HUGEST THANKS TO 🩷💖VELDENMIRE💚💖 AND 💛💙PANELPERDAY❤️🖤 FOR ALL THEIR HARD WORK ON THIS WEBTOON, MAKING IT LIKE THE BEST SCI-FI COMIC ON THE PLATFORM, HANDS-DOWN!! I LOOK FORWARD TO EVERYTHING ELSE THIS GORGEOUS STORY HAS TO OFFER NEXT!!
#Solid State#Solid State Webtoon#Webtoon#Long Post#wow that was so much#I would've broke the image limit so I had to merge these photos all manually.. made a whole photo album#which was taxing#but so worth it like look at how pretty the post is come on#I wish I did wait to make my other post till this point but I didn't know we'd be hitting the midseason mark so soon so yeah#But even since my previous post so many more things have become apparent that I missed like the Union backplot I had no idea#And The Reporter being kinda everywhere#So another post was surely needed#AAAAAAny way Imma get out of here but thanks for reading all the way down here if you made it!
