Good to know? But all the same, no spoilers please. I try to go in to books (especially brand new stories!) as blind as possible. Like I said, hopefully it’ll get more interesting for me as I play through it. I’ll be greatly looking forward to customizing that character though!

I think I tend to be a little harsh at first to the more mystery-oriented books, just because they never quite grab me as fast as some of the other stuff. Most Wanted was the same way - took a few chapters for me to warm up to it. I probably felt similarly about Veiled Secrets, though I remember liking the characters a bit more (oh hello there, tattooed bad boy who looks like Ian Somerhalder), so who knows. Been awhile since I played through either one of those books. But that’s the nature and risk of mystery writing, you know?

It took me soooooo long to finally commit to finishing the first It Lives book for a similar reason. (also because I realized that the It Lives books had actual fucking serious consequences for bad decisions and I got scared, lmaooo.)

Pairing: Thomas Hunt x Alex Spencer (F!OC) Book: Hollywood U (but could be RCD too) Word Count: ~500 Rating: General: no warnings A/N: The lovely @gutsfics shared this post with me for Alex and I couldn't not come up with something little for it. It's too good! (Image in the banner above from the same post and is a must support!

Synopsis: Alex makes a special dessert to celebrate the day.

Twelve, thirteen, fourteen...

Her fingers danced carefully over the top of the sweet treat, counting each of the molded chocolate knives.

Twenty-one, twenty-two, twenty-three...

She picked up the last chocolate knife, biting the tip, letting the chocolate melt on her tongue. Mmmhmm, she hummed her satisfaction. The mold had made twenty-four blades; thankfully, that was one too many, which meant one to sample! She sighed, looking at the tiramisu; she'd rather sample more of that, but not yet. She didn't want to ruin the perfect display. A smile of pride drew across her lips. 

Soon.

He had to see it first. 

Alex moved around the kitchen, tidying up the mess. She placed the last of the used utensils in the dishwasher and then wiped down the counters. She glanced around the space, checking she hadn't missed anything. Brushing her hands together, she nodded in approval.

It was time.

She carried the dessert through the house heading to his office. Carefully, she set the dish down in front of him, a pleased grin settling on her lips. "Happy Ides of March."

His brow arched curiously. "I'm almost afraid to ask."

Her smile fell slightly. "It's March 15th!" She gestured to the tiny chocolate knives. "I thought you'd appreciate it."

His gaze remained unchanged. His trademark frown graced his lips. "And you chose to commemorate a historical event with great significance to the Roman Empire with a dessert?"

"It's Tiramisu." Alex pressed her hands on her hips. "Et t(iramis)u, Brutè?"

He breathed out a sigh, pinching the bridge of his nose. Despite his efforts to appear unamused, his lip undeniably twitched up.

"I knew you'd appreciate it!" She bounced on her feet with delight.

He shook his head, glancing up at her, his eyes lighter now. "To earn said appreciation, you chose to make a dessert pun about betrayal."

"A delicious pun with a historically accurate portrayal," she clarified, pointing out the twenty-three knives. "I thought about making the twenty-third knife the knife to cut it but didn't want you pre-judging my knowledge of history if you saw only twenty-two."

"My love, you made a dessert about a political assassination, there was always going to be a level of judgment," he replied flatly.

"You appreciate my artistic creations, even now," she insisted, sliding into his lap, her fingers caressing the back of his neck. "I can see it in your eyes." She brushed a kiss on his nose, her other hand slipping behind her. "And don't try to deny it..." She lifted a chocolate knife from the dessert, holding it above his chest. "...or else." She couldn't stop the rising giggle from falling from her lips.

Thomas's hand grazed down her arm, grasping her wrists. His gaze shifted toward the dessert. "I think you’ve taken dramatic to a new level, Alex." 

She shrugged, laughing  softly. "I only learned from the best."

His lips pulled to the side, his head shaking in amusement. “History will remember this.” 

“As it should,” she teased, leaning forward to brush a kiss over his lips.
