I am absolutely incapable of writing in any fic other than Family Ties, my continuation of Braigen's Owl House/DCU crossover.
Chapter 5, Mothers & Daughters is out, in which
Camila and Eda meet Queen Hippolyta
Barry, Willow, Gus, and Hunter have burgers and talk
Luz quotes a couple of old movies
Barbara Gordon gets lectured
The invasion is rapidly approaching, and the heroes are scrambling to prepare. As Masha and Babs begin extracting more information from Intergang's computer, heroes spread out across the world to try to cover all of the planned invasion points.
Meanwhile, Luz, alone on Apokolips apart from her palisman, attempts an escape.

Just some collages of some crossover ships that I’ve recently developed.
Wulf (Danny Phantom) x Gus (ROTTMNT) (Claws & Spikes/Gulf/Wus/Big Gay Doggie Husbands): Of course, this ship came to me not long after I started shipping Raph and Jazz. This ship came solely from my personal headcanon, where Gus is the companion/bodyguard of Octavia Goetia because she is Big Mama's goddaughter/niece, and Wulf is Danny's bodyguard/companion, so Wulf and Gus bonded over their protectiveness~
Melinda (Fantasia) x Nessus (Hercules) (Nelinda/Messus):
I really like the idea of Nessus being the first centaur Melinda met, and she accepted him as her mate unconditionally, which was a huge surprise to him and to her friends who find him ugly and scary. Melinda is happy with Nessus, and that's all that matters.
Angela (Gargoyles) x Batgirl/Barbara Gordon (BTAS) (Babsgela/AngelBabs/Barbala/Oracle Angel/ForeignAngel/Bluebelle & Lavender): I recently recalled my friend @frie-ice mentioning a Batman and Gargoyles fanfiction she planned to write a year or two ago. This got me thinking about how Barbara and Angela would bond and interact, and now I ship them! Don't worry, I still love Angela and Broadway too.
IF YOU DO NOT LIKE THIS SHIP, PLEASE DON'T COMMENT OR REBLOG 🚫🚫 PLEASE DON'T STEAL OR REPOST MY EDITS 🚫

The same megacollectors who could have bought the Whitney's Breuer building last year for $100m and turned it into a 65,000-sf brutalist art palazzo also could have bought Gordon Bunshaft's the Manufacturer's Trust Company on Fifth Avenue for $50m and turned THAT into a 65,000-sf mid-century art palazzo. The only thing our billionaires are succeeding at is failing us in new ways. Anyway, it's going to be a GU now.

Gordon Monade, the Yellow Drewman

Father Fearest
Gordon, Violet’s husband, towers over the rest of the cast, but he’s a gentle giant. He kinda has to be, to resist the urge to smack the next person who does something stupid.
To put it bluntly, Gordie’s a nervous wreck. He’s not what one would call a coward, but he’s incredibly uptight for someone who resembles an uplifted smiley emoji. Considering he has to play parent for everyone else in ICT (in addition to his and Vi’s actual kid), it’s pretty justified. Some say the only reason he’s bulked up so much is so nothing can take him down.
Despite working for a troupe of comedians, Gordon’s a refined, intellectual guy in his down time. He doesn’t bother trying involving the others in his hobbies, since he doesn’t trust the others (besides occasionally Violet) to listen to him long enough to care.
Fun Facts
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gordon’s name is one consonant sound off from “golden”, reflecting his color palette.
Gordon is the tallest Primary Character by a wide margin.
In contrast to Violet, he’s the only male Primary Character without the default arc eyebrows.
Gordon and Violet are the only two Primary Characters to be in any sort of relationship. In their case, they are married.
Gordon is the only Primary Character to be a part of MYCK Drop (alongside Geneva, Bryan, and Noah), as yellow is part of the CYMK color model .
Gordon and Violet are two of the very few characters to have any color aside from a shade of their own in their palette. In his case, he has a violet wedding ring.
Gordon, Violet, and Rudy were all far more childish and hyperactive in their original designs. In Drew/Gordon’s case, it is glaringly obvious.
Gordon’s surname derives from “lemonade”, but it is pronounced “Muhn-ODD”.
Gordon is the only Primary Character whose design has remained entirely untouched aside from a rise in quality since his second Rough Sketch design.
Gordon’s black stripes on the back of his head, while initially orange, were always a constant design choice on him.
Gordon’s musculature reflects his strength, although he is often depicted as excessively and casually strong in relation to his size.
Gordon’s eyes widen into conjoined eyes with visible sclerae when shocked.
Gordon gets irrationally angry whenever people answer his phone calls with “y’ello.”

Been playing with some headcanons for funsies :D Trans Virgil is one I have been enjoying playing with sooo here he is <3 coming out to Gords
big thanks to @tanushakyrano for reading it through and egging me on lol
---
“Gordon,” he said, eyes wide. “Gordon, I think I’m straight.”
Gordon blinked, before a smile cracked on his face and he flung himself onto the bed howling with laughter.
“Gordon, I’m serious,” called Virgil, but Gordon only laughed harder and the words fell aside.
“Sorry, V,” he said, exaggerating the wiping away of tears in his eyes. “For a second there I thought you said you were straight.”
Virgil opened his mouth, only to feel the strange choking chill filling his lungs again, stealing his air.
“I mean, you and I have spent far too much time sighing over girls for that, remember Hannah Kim from the year between us?”
“I remember,” said Virgil.
He felt distant and removed from his own words, like the conversation was being whispered into a thick, grey fog that lay between them rather than shared across thousands of miles with modern holotech.
His heart thudded in his chest, and his hands twitched.
Just say it, screamed his mind.
It wasn’t judgment he feared, not from Gordon, not from any of his family.
He’d simply held the truth so close for so long it had become an intimate layering beneath his skin and the only way to begin to show it would be to expose himself again and again and again.
He needed Gordon to be the first one to help him shed his old self.
He didn’t know if he could do it alone.
Gordon’s laughter died away.
“Hey, V? You’re not looking so good.”
“I think I need to sit down.”
He stumbled backwards and exhaled slowly and carefully, the slow count he’d been taught ringing in his ears. His hands fluttered against his breast, mirroring his pounding heart within.
“Do you need me to call someone?” asked Gordon anxiously, hovering helplessly above him. “I can get out to you tomorrow; Dad’ll organise it now if you need me there.”
“No,” said Virgil sharply. “It’s fine, I’m just… he doesn’t need… I mean…”
The words were taking too much effort to say.
He wasn’t scared.
It was just so real.
Always before it had been this nebulous thing, humming quietly at the back of his mind, slowly growing into an itch that he couldn’t ignore.
The strained smile when someone cheerfully acknowledged him and their descriptors fell like heavy rocks he couldn’t escape from. The momentary panic when someone introduced him and “call me V” broke out of him before another word could be said. Even the light touches of girls flirting with him made him clam up, knowing they were only falling for the lie he’d presented to everyone over and over as the years passed.
Gordon was still watching him carefully.
“I assume you weren’t kidding then?”
Not trusting himself to speak, Virgil shook his head.
“I think… No. I know that I’m not Valentina.”
The name sounded strange on his tongue, like a foreign memory of the long, lost past.
“Okay, not Valentina,” said Gordon. “I can work with that. You need some time? Want to try out some different names then? Some pronouns?”
“He/him,” said Virgil, thanking the heavens that Gordon seemed to know exactly how to move forward, peeling back the layers of his past in an instant. “And I’m taking my middle name.”
Gordon snorted.
“Which one? I swear Mom and Dad found out you were a girl and panicked about you ruining their whole theme.”
He faltered for a second.
“Uh, I mean…”
Virgil laughed.
“I’ll just shorten it, I think. Take out the “Valentina Ivanka” part.” His eyes softened. “After all, Mom still gave me that name. I don’t want to lose it entirely.”
“Virgil Grissom Tracy,” said Gordon, trying it out. “It suits you.”
Virgil flushed.
“Thanks.”
“So, are you telling anyone yet? Or taking your time.”
“I think I’ll tell the others in person,” he said. “Just give myself a few weeks first.”
“It’s going to be fine – you know that right?”
Virgil smiled.
“Yeah, I know. They’ll still love me and all that sappy stuff.”
“Well, you’re the one that’s always gone in for that sappy stuff.”
“I can’t help it,” he said. “The goop just makes me so happy.”
“Yeah, yeah. Hey, just imagine how buff you’re gonna get on T,” said Gordon, eyes lighting up.
“That’s not why I’m doing this.”
“Yeah, but just imagine anyway. All the girls are gonna be falling at your feet.”
“They already do,” retorted Virgil. “Just because you’ve got no game.”
“I’ve got game!” exclaimed Gordon. “It just… takes longer.”
“Sadly staring at people and hoping they’ll take to you like some lost puppy isn’t game, Gordon,” said Virgil chuckling.
Gordon laughed easily with him. The dense grey fog that had dogged Virgil’s footsteps over the past several months had lifted and he couldn’t believe how light the way forward now seemed.
Bright and clear and so very possible, two brothers just laughing and joking side by side.
The world finally felt as though it had clicked into place.

I read volume 1 of Batgirl and the Birds of Prey (2016) (because it had Huntress on the cover and I was curious) and am of mixed opinions about it.
The thing is, part of me really wants to like Gus Yale, aka Oracle. He has a number of factors going for him that I like in a superhero character. The idea of a person looking and going "I haven't seen X hero around, but I really admired them and don't think that legacy should disappear." is something that I really like. I have an OC who has basically that backstory. It's pretty similar to what Tim Drake has going on and I really like that about him. It's an element present in Steel's origin story.
Like this part here, I find this compelling:
Tumblr media
But I never lost hope So I waited. And waited. But Oracle never acme back. Then it hit me. Since no one knew who Oracle was, anyone could be Oracle.
I think, on face value, 'superhero disappears and someone else steps up to take their place' is a fun story arc. The question being though, can you make it work with Barbara as Oracle? Which is, ehhh, why isn't she Oracle? With the whole magicure disability thing, it isn't a great look. I could maybe see this type of storyline working in a story where Oracle gets fakeout killed but really just has amnesia or is lost in time or something because then it's temporary and less fridge-y. But here, it's eh, the subtext isn't great.
And like, the other thing about Gus as Oracle is that he is introduced as an antagonist initially. The inciting even of this arc is Barbara discovering that there's someone else calling themself Oracle who's selling information to mob. He's framed as a creepy stalker who has a collection of stuff of hers like her library card and her old glasses. Tim is also introduced as a stalker who has a rather extreme level of investment in Batman and Robin and Dick Grayson in particular, but it feels different. Tim is supposed to be the new Robin and I think in a way that I can't quite articulate, that means that narrative treats his with more grace. It feels more earnest and less creepy. Gus as being a young adult obsessed with a young woman who is out of his league and unaware of him, also has these iffy tones to it.
This is the first time we see him:
Tumblr media
(The fact that Gus is black, in relation to all the rest of this, also feels not great to me, but I feel less qualified to comment on that.)
And then, of course, there's this, which just feels unessarily mean-sprirted and meta, and also kind of manipulative in the way that we're clearly supposed to disagree with him as a gut reaction:
Tumblr media
But if I'm being honest… I liked you better as Oracle
The fact he gets a more positive framing later and ends up working with them, doesn't change any of the things about his inital introductions. Introductions are important. And then, at the of issue 6, he's implied to be involved in something more sinister.
It just. I don't like it; it doesn't work for me.
On a more positive note: I did like most of the Huntress content. It's not one of the top Huntress comics by any means, but it was fun. Serviceable enough. I did like the twist that her mom survived. While I think, ultimately, it's more compelling if she's the only one to survive, her mother also being alive and thinking she's the sole survivor has a lot of fun storytelling potential. I do think that Helena's ultimate decision to not kill the man who'd ordered her family's deaths didn't exactly work for me, but yeah, I think she largely worked. I also liked the art style.

So in honor of TBB season 3 coming out tomorrow, and because I need to have something to laugh at or I’ll cry, I had my sister who’s never watched TBB or TCW guess the names/personalities of characters. I hope you find it as entertaining as I did. Starting off strong with #1: Bruce—asshole

#15: Cassidy (“actually she’s my favorite I love her”)—Cool wine aunt who commits tax evasion
