I'm sure other people have shared this but i really hope this pans out. that all being said i think this being the catalysis for us getting up payment processors asses has been a net positive. i really hope people keep pushing. from what i've seen ppl saying on bluesky it dose feel like there is a growing frustration on there end. i really hope we can revers some of the puritanical bs that's been shoved on us

You know what? I love horror games. I ESPECIALLY love narrative-driven horror games. But NOTHING will compare to the visceral horror I got during the final puzzle of Stories Untold. Not because it was a jump-scare or anything. But because it was the moment at which all of the evidence you've collected up to this point tells you EXACTLY what you have to do, and it's not even a difficult thing to do in terms of game mechanics - it's literally a text adventure and all you have to do is pick up an object and place it in a different location. You even know exactly what object you need to move and where you need to move it to.

But.

YOU have to do it.

You have to look at the situation you're in (a car wreck in which you are the only survivor) and the object in question (an expensive bottle of alcohol stolen from your parents' liquor cabinet) the place it is (your car) and the place it needs to go (the car of the off-duty cop you got into a wreck with) and put yourself into the mind of the protagonist you've been playing as for the entire game.

At no point can you do anything differently. You can't prevent your character from snagging the liquor. You can't prevent him from getting drunk. You can't prevent him from driving drunk. And you cannot prevent this.

I spent a good minute saying "no no no don't make me do it" but there is no other way out of this scenario. It's a flashback. It's already happened. You're not doing these things, you're piecing together a blocked memory.

GODS that game does atmosphere so well.

The government wants control, it wants information. However it can get that information doesn't matter to it. In the 2000s we were taught not to give information online because of how dangerous it is and now the government is asking for information and everyone is NOT supposed to be fine with it. They always say it's for the safety of kids but if it REALLY was then why not do actual things to help the kids? Why try to pass the KOSA bill for the 9000th time? Why not feed them with the money we use for these bullshit ass AIs? Why not fund things like Planned Parenthood to actually help families and provide information on how to raise a child... because parents should be raising their own children, not computers, not companies.

IF YOU NEED CORPORATIONS TO MONITOR YOUR CHILDREN FOR YOU, YOU ARE A TERRIBLE PARENT.
