You can explore the Kate Lobrano House, a time capsule to the 19th and 20th centuries, or immerse yourself in the city's past at the Alice Moseley Folk Art & Antique Museum. The Bay St. Louis Historic L&N Train Depot is another must-see.

Relaxing Residences: Cottages On The Greene Foley
Tumblr media
Credit: Image by wolfields | Pixabay
Getting to Know Cottages On The Greene, Foley
With the population growing each year, it's not a surprise why a lot of people are having a hard time finding quiet spaces to move into. While bustling metropolitans only seem to expand, the discovery of tranquil retreats is becoming a milestone all of a sudden. New TikToks, reels, and YouTube shorts are becoming viral for providing audiences with information about serene spots. So, peaceful residential locations like the Cottages On The Green, Foley, lay in wait as more homebuyers spread the word. Until then, here are a couple of things you need to know about the area and the properties within it.
What Are Considered Cottages?
We won’t blame you if your definition of a cottage is where someone might meet Jason from Friday the 13th or a meeting spot to have a brush with romance like in The Notebook. We won’t even blame you for mixing up a cottage and cabin. It’s a common impression, and you’re not completely far off. Cabins and cottages tend to have more natural settings surrounding them. The rustic feel is also a running theme among the two. But that’s where most of the similarities stop.
Cottages are more finished versions of cabins. Architecturally, they often feature gabled rooflines, stone walls, oversized chimneys, brick pathways, and thatched roofs. But definitions are loose these days. Location-wise, cabins are perched along wooded or rural areas. Meanwhile, cottages are usually weaven and developed out of the trees and into the suburbs
The gated Cottages on the Greene is roughly 8 minutes from Central Foley. This quaint neighborhood sits along Country Road 12, where pavements perfectly contrast the greenery from manicured lawns and well-maintained growths from empty lots. Verdant flora decorate the community, giving residents the daily opportunity to reconnect with nature. As an added bonus, you can keep your hands clean because the HOA is in charge of maintaining your lawns, too!
Unique Features And Amenities
Cottages on the Greene, much like other properties on a suburban area, are heavily associated with family-friendly characteristics. This is partly due to the population of these communities which are mainly composed of starting and established families looking to give their kids a safe and stable life. The sense of community primarily drives developers of these localities to establish comunal features.
The Cottages neighborhood has a few of these shared spaces. if you’re interested to move into the area, these are the community amenities you can expect:
Clubhouse
Meeting room
Banquet room
TV room
Fitness area
Resort-style saltwater pool
Walking paths
Interior Design and Comfort
There's a preconceived notion like cottages our old school and vintage by design. However, many are surprised that the interior of these homes have been crafted to look more contemporary and up-to-date with the modern times. It's a pleasant surprise for home hunters who take tours and go on open houses.
You would think that the contrast between the interior and exterior or designs one clash, builders and developers have found a way to blend the rustic charm of a cottage and mix it with present-day appeal, resulting in a timeless property.
Many of the houses in the Cottages on Green, Foley, also come furnished with high quality appliances and premium furniture. These items are set on various configurations. A number of these homes have embraced an open-concept kitchen. So, it’s easy to move around and make the area look bigger. But even without this set-up, the dwellings have anywhere between one to two floors with three to five bedrooms. And that’s enough space to host a large single-family unit.
Navigating the network of roads and cul-de-sacs will eventually lead homebuyers to a selection of custom properties designed by esteemed builders and designers, like Donald Powers Architects, Inc. and Union Studio Architecture & Community Design. These properties have been thoughtfully-constructed with gold-fortification and equipped with security systems. Picking the right house can also give the added bonus of a tank-less how water heater.
Another favorite feature that homebuyers can get are the front porches where neighbors usually stay to watch the sunset. This detail ties the private spaces back into a smooth transition with the community. Locals can share moments together without even leaving their homes. So, residents can have some afternoon tea and even watch the kids run around in the grass. This architectural detail helps families come together, too.
Outdoor Spaces and Surroundings
Cottages On The Greene, Foley, has a quaint allure and a strategic location. This subdivision offers a unique blend of serenity and accessibility.Itsdesirable features extend beyond the homes. Locals have a healthy set of options for places they can visit, including the following:
Scenic Boundaries: James Road meanders along the western frontier of the neighborhood, while County Road 12 South gracefully delineates the southern border, framing this picturesque community. You can take a walk along these areas or have a quick rest and soak the environment.
Gastronomic Delights: Just a short travel northward along James Road, you’ll reach food favorites like the Brick Oven. Delectable aromas and flavorful dishes await, tickling your taste buds while you munch.
Golfing Paradise: Golfers can get a quick game in at the nearby Gulf Links Golf Center. It’s a mere 1.8 miles west of the subdivision. Players can tee off against a backdrop of pristine fairways, perfecting their swing while enjoying the view.
RV Retreat: Embark on a southbound journey along Brinks Willis Road and James Road. Within minutes, you'll arrive at the Bella Terra RV Resort. Visitors can immerse in the beauty of nature while indulging in the included amenities, creating memories to last a lifetime.
Cottages on the Greene is full of hidden treasures that reveal themselves as you explore the enchanting enclave. And if you want to discover more homes, there’s a place where you can do that too. You can take a look at listings by following this link: https://inlandbayrealty.com/best-foley-neighborhoods/cottages-on-the-greene/

Give Your Landscape Some end of Summer Love
Outdoors & Gardening by Andre Rios
Tumblr media
With autumn on the horizon, you may be looking forward to the cool, breezy days ahead, and you’re not alone.
In fact, your landscaping probably can’t wait to say good riddance to these hot summer days full of overactive pests and dry, thirsty soil. However, fall is not without its unique challenges. As the sun sets on summer, take some time to conduct a little end-of-season maintenance and prepare for the fall climate conditions that are just around the corner.
Go through your garden
Start with damage control. Assess the summer casualties in your garden, such as high-moisture or sun-averse plants that just couldn’t take the heat. Uproot any dead matter, and clean the soil out of freshly emptied garden pots, as dead roots may attract fungi.
Check your remaining plants for dry, dead growths, pruning them as needed. Use garden shears for this task, not your hands, to avoid damaging healthy growths in the process. Then pick and preserve any ripe fruits, vegetables, or herbs in your edible garden. You worked hard on this produce all summer, so ensure that it doesn’t go to waste. (Besides, if you don’t eat it, some ants gladly will.)
If you plan on filling any gaps in your garden with fall foliage, such as pansies and goldenrod, plant young growths—seeds likely won’t bloom in time for Thanksgiving. This is also the ideal time to plant new trees and shrubs as their roots will have ample time to mature in the soil before the winter frost arrives. Once you’re satisfied, surround any new additions to your yard and garden with a layer of mulch to help insulate fresh roots.
Optimize your outdoor spaces
Take care of any outdoor repairs while the weather is still comfortable. Once harsher autumn conditions roll around, existing damage like cracked surfaces may only worsen—and you may be less willing to head outside to make these necessary fixes.
Start by caulking surface cracks in brick, concrete, and stone, then paint over them to disguise your repairs. You should make touch-ups to paint on walls and railings during this drier end-of-summer weather. (Cool, wet fall air may prevent paint from drying properly.) If you have extensive damage like dislodged concrete or broken pavers, hire a specialist to make these improvements as soon as you can.
It’s especially important to address any wooden deck damage before fall is in full swing. These wetter, milder, and shorter days create the perfect conditions for fungi with a particular taste for wood. Because deck construction is so intricate, you should probably restrict DIY efforts to simple tasks like cleaning, rinsing, and touching up the sealant. Leave sensitive jobs like replacing rotten planks or securing loose joints to a professional repair service.
Finally, take care of your outdoor decor. Invest in furniture covers that can withstand rain and weathering, and move any delicate items like pillows into storage when not in use.
Tumblr media
Sift through your shed
Take some time to organize your shed. Put away summer decorations, then store any unneeded tools. For more efficient storage, install racks, wall mounts, and shelves. (You’ll thank yourself later.) Rotate rakes and wheelbarrows to the front so that when the leaves start to drop, you’ll be ready to clean them up. In anticipation of colder weather, you should also stock up on winterizing supplies like plant insulating wrap.
Give your lawn some love
Summer may be peak weed season, but this problem won’t necessarily disappear with the approach of the fall equinox. Pick all weeds out of your lawn, ensuring that you fully uproot them; resilient weeds can rebound surprisingly fast if you don’t remove all of their roots.
The first frost can occur anywhere between September and December, depending on your region of the country. (The Farmer’s Almanac has a handy guide to probable frost dates for your area.) In anticipation of this climate turning point, aerate your lawn to loosen up compacted soil, and apply a thin layer of fertilizer. You can also plant grass seeds for a denser, healthier lawn, but it may be best to consult with a horticulturist first, as this can be a delicate job with specific regional challenges.
Keep your mower handy too. Grass will continue growing up until the first frost occurs, so mow your lawn regularly before then. Set the blades to 4 inches to help keep your grass healthy and neat looking throughout August and September. If leaves start collecting on your lawn prematurely, feel free to mow right over them for now. Once dense layers of leaves collect later in fall, you’ll need to rake them before you mow.
Additionally, stay on top of your watering schedule. Stick to the low-light hours of dawn and dusk, even as cooler weather trickles in. Direct sun can evaporate moisture surprisingly fast, which wastes both water and money.
Tackle these tasks now, and you can enjoy a cozier autumn with minimal effort, less stress, and delightful views of the changing season outside your window.
Need home with even a small, manageable yard for a small, manageable garden?

If you’re one of the millions of Americans worried about your pocketbooks and the general cost of living, you might have picked up on some good news recently: Inflation has really been cooling off this summer, as long-sticky (and long-lamented) food and energy prices continue to moderate. Some economic indicators remain stubborn, however—and they aren’t likely to abate anytime in the near future, no matter how long the Federal Reserve keeps interest rates high, what tweaks President Joe Biden makes to his trade policy, whether corporations decide themselves to slash prices on certain products, or whether Covid-battered supply chains finally get some long-needed fixes.
Other, grimmer recent headlines help to explain why. Hard rains from a tropical disruption in the Gulf have been battering Florida’s southern regions for days, leading to a rare flash-flood emergency. Another batch of storms is swirling near Texas at the moment and could form into a tropical depression, according to forecasts from the National Hurricane Center. Even if both states end up missing bigger storms now, it’s likely only a matter of time before they’re threatened again: The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration predicts that the United States will see its worst hurricane season in decades this summer.
Meanwhile, the heat waves that have enveloped Phoenix are intensifying to the point that some analysts are deeming its latest conditions “a Hurricane Katrina of heat.” Spanning outward, the Midwest and Northeast are projected to get their own extreme heat warnings as early as next week, with energy demand set to skyrocket as people turn on their air conditioners. The country has already seen 11 “billion-dollar disasters” this year, including the tornadoes that slammed Iowa just weeks ago. Meanwhile, the already strapped Federal Emergency Management Agency faces a budgetary crisis, and sales of catastrophe bonds are at an all-time high.
Now, let’s look back at the inflation readings. One of the categories remaining stubbornly high while other indicators shrink? Shelter and housing, natch, as rents and insurance stay hot—and still-elevated interest rates make construction and mortgage costs even more prohibitive. On the energy front, motor fuel may be cheapening, but fuel and electricity for home use are still pricey. Auto insurance remains a driving outlier, as I noted back in April, not least because of insurers hiking premiums for cars in especially disaster-vulnerable regions—like the South, the Southwest, and the coasts.
Look at what else is happening in those very regions when it comes to home insurance: Providers are either retreating from or dramatically heightening their prices in states like California, Texas, Florida, and New Jersey, thanks to their unique susceptibility to climate change. These states have seen supercharged extreme weather events like floods, rain bombs, heat waves, and droughts. National lawmakers fear that the insurance crises there may ultimately wreak havoc on the broader real estate sector—but that’s not the only worst-case scenario they have to worry about.
Agricultural yields for important commodities produced in those states (fruits, nuts, corn, sugar, veggies, wheat) are withering, thanks to punishing heat and soil-nutrition depletion. The supply chains through which these products usually travel are thrown off course at varying points, by storms that disrupt land and sea transportation. Preparation for these varying externalities requires supply-chain middlemen and product sellers to anticipate consequential cost increases down the line—and implement them sooner than later, in order to cover their margins.
You may have noticed some clear standouts among the contributors to May’s inflation: juices and frozen drinks (19.5 percent), along with sugar and related substitutes (6.4 percent). It’s probably not a coincidence that Florida, a significant producer of both oranges and sugar, has seen extensive damage to those exports thanks to extreme weather patterns caused by climate change as well as invasive crop diseases. Economists expect that orange juice prices will stay elevated during this hot, rainy summer.
(Incidentally, climate effects may also be influencing the current trajectory and spread of bird flu across American livestock—and you already know what that means for meat and milk prices.)
It goes beyond groceries, though. It applies to every basic building block of modern life: labor, immigration, travel, and materials for homebuilding, transportation, power generation, and necessary appliances. Climate effects have been disrupting and raising the prices of timber, copper, and rubber; even chocolate prices were skyrocketing not long ago, thanks to climate change impacts on African cocoa bean crops. The outdoor workers supplying such necessities are experiencing adverse health impacts from the brutal weather, and the recent record-breaking influxes of migrants from vulnerable countries—which, overall, have been good for the U.S. economy—are in part a response to climate damages in their home nations.
The climate price hikes show up in other ways as well. There’s a lot of housing near the coasts, in the Gulf regions and Northeast specifically; Americans love their beaches and their big houses. Turns out, even with generous (very generous) monetary backstops from the federal government, it’s expensive to build such elaborate manors and keep having to rebuild them when increasingly intense and frequent storms hit—which is why private insurers don’t want to keep having to deal with that anymore, and the costs are handed off to taxpayers.
When all the economic indicators that take highest priority in Americans’ heads are in such volatile motion thanks to climate change, it may be time to reconsider how traditional economics work and how we perceive their effects. It’s no longer a time when extreme weather was rarer and more predictable; its force and reasoning aren’t beyond our capacity to aptly monitor, but they’re certainly more difficult to track. You can’t stretch out the easiest economic model to fix that. And you can’t keep ignoring the clear links between our current weather hellscape, climate change, and our everyday goods.
Thankfully, some actors are finally, belatedly taking a new approach. The reinsurance company Swiss Re has acknowledged that its industry fails to aptly factor disaster and climate risks into its calculations, and is working to overhaul its equations. Advances in artificial intelligence, energy-intensive though they may be, are helping to improve extreme-weather predictions and risk forecasts. At the state level, insurers are pushing back against local policies that bafflingly forbid them from pricing climate risks into their models, and Florida has new legislation requiring more transparency in the housing market around regional flooding histories. New York legislators are attempting to ban insurers from backstopping the very fossil-fuel industry that’s contributed to so much of their ongoing crisis.
After all, we’re no longer in a world where climate change affects the economy, or where voters prioritizing economic or inflationary concerns are responding to something distinct from climate change—we’re in a world where climate change is the economy.

In addition to Russians going on a purchasing spree in the UK, the UK upper classes have been courted by the Russian oligarchs for more than a generation. Their now-grown kids all went to UK private schools and both the kids and parents made friends.
This has been happening in the US, as well, for the better part of three decades, since the early 90s when the USSR imploded and Putin and his oligarchs proceeded to embezzle billions from the Russian people. In NYC especially, then-real-estate-developer DJT (deeply in debt after his Atlantic City casino debacle) - and enabled by then-NYC Mayor Giuliani - jumped right into bed with the Russians and their money, which needed to be laundered. Even his sons have admitted that a large portion of their business and money has come from the Russians, who own much of Trump Tower and other Trump properties. The info is all public domain for anyone to research.
And it’s pervasive, not just centered in NYC. Russian oligarch money and political influence is rampant on the West Coast of the US (Devin Nunes, allegedly, anyone?), on the southern Gulf Coast with its oil industry, and nationwide within the NRA. House Speaker Johnson, a Congressional Representative from Louisiana/LA, has been backed financially/politically for years by Russian oligarchs active in the LA/Gulf Coast oil industry. And we haven’t even begun to speak about the influence of China or of the Saudis/ME (MBS giving DJT’s SIL Kushner $2 billion to invest…and LIV infiltrating the PGA, aided by DJT’s golf resorts…).
(PS: RTA, that was you sending in the detailed security analyses to Empress, etc? Thanks!)
***********
Exactly. Foreign investments have been happening all over the place. A lot of people don’t realize how bad it is, nor how much foreign money is keeping US government afloat.
I don’t remember if I submitted the national security stuff to Empress, but it’s been awhile. I definitely remember talking about it with Honey in the run up to the coronation, and I’ve been digging into her archives to find those posts but I don’t remember when...7 months is a lot of time to cover in Tumblr!

I know we live a very weird life, but we decided if we don’t get pregnant by the holidays, we are taking Sky to India to meet Amma (the hugging saint, ended up at her ashram by accident in 2018 and it changed our lives). Her little city (Amritapuri) where she was born is beautiful, safe, and super cheap to stay. Southern India is a real dream. Sky would get to play with a lot of kids and I think she would absolutely adore it. After about 1 month there, we would go spend 1 month in New Zealand and 1 month in Australia.
I either get a baby for Christmas and an apartment in Miami or I book another epic family trip. Kevin says that we shouldn’t go back to Barcelona for another vacation before we move there, we know we want to move there. He said let’s go on another epic new trip instead, and it didn’t take long for me to agree to that idea. So - either way, I’m excited :) When I stay with my in laws for the summer I will picture this trip when I feel like I’m about to go insane 😂
Kevin and I have talked about it at length and decided that it will be Sky’s decision when she turns 5 years old to either enroll into a traditional school or to continue “world school” as we have pretty much been doing for the last 6 months.
We want to buy a property of some kind in the next year either way, but that doesn’t mean we want to stay there. We could rent it out full time to live who knows where. I’m envisioning a The Bucket List family type lifestyle (except on a much humbler scale 😂😂😂).
Those kids seem well adjusted 🤷🏽‍♀️
I’ve just got this very niche golden ticket in life where no, I don’t make a lot of money, but we make enough to live a really cool nomadic life. We were very close to the ideal: having a 100% paid off property on the coast of FL to rent out BUT our contract required 2 years of residency and let’s just say we learned real quick that we absolutely did want want our life savings under the control of our HOA. So we sold with some profit and now we’re kinda back to square one on the real estate portfolio. It was a setback and it wasn’t, the gulf coast condo. We definitely learned a lot. I’m excited to keep growing our business and our earnings so we can buy something else in Miami / NY / Spain in the next 1-2 years. ✨

Destin is a popular vacation family destination on the Florida Emerald Coast located on a peninsula separating the Gulf of Mexico from Choctawhatchee Bay and has subtropical weather. The peninsula was originally a barrier island. Hurricanes and sea level changes gradually connected it to the mainland; however, in the 1940s it technically became an island again with the completion of the Choctawhatchee-West Bay Canal. There are many Destin real estate opportunities for those looking to own a piece of paradise – there are homes for sale from beachfront houses to back-water homes on deep water to weekend cottages. Source: VRBO

How To Raise $3.3 Million In Private Money with Banjo and Erica Camardelle
Private Money Academy Conference:
Free Report:
Meet Eric, aka Banjo, and his wonderful wife, Erica Camardelle – the property-peddling power couple behind Salt & Light Property Solutions.
Hailing from the vibrant streets of New Orleans, Louisiana, this real estate dream team traded the city buzz for the serenity of Southwest MS, where they now reside on 60 acres in a log cabin with their four kids and a small army of pets.
In their quest to conquer the real estate realm, Eric and Erica have become the proud parents of over 50 deals, managing a whopping 40 doors and 22 storage units.
Accredited investors, published authors, and the masterminds behind a thriving local REIA, these two are taking Southern MS and LA by storm and have their eyes set on expanding along the Gulf Coast. When they're not busy crunching numbers, you'll find them camping in the great outdoors, passionately serving their church, and unleashing their competitive spirit in combat sports.
But the fun doesn't stop there – did you know Banjo knows how to speak like a Tuscan Sand Raider, while Erica loves skulls for some weird and kind of creepy reason? Salt & Light – where business meets a symphony of laughter and extraordinary adventures!
