// 272 words. When starving, even the smallest bit of food is a feast.
Hands to herself.
She has no trouble following social cues and norms—this is how you get people to understand that not all of your kin are sharp-edged and venom-tongued, after all—but a bit of good drink warming her blood makes for a slipping leash around the indecent things she could say and be. Slipping, yes, but never loose. That would surely be death.
Her thoughts tug on the lead and, in turn, pull her whole body taut. Silver heels draw marks through a perfectly polished stage and she finds herself envious. Screaming strings sing their agony and she hears her own voice. Hellfire eyes like those would make a fine crucible to be unmade in, wouldn’t they?
There’s pride in how well she’s able to keep herself in line. Look at this ravenous thing smile and fold her hands. Look at how she keeps herself collected even now, enjoying her own chains and the taste of blood on her teeth where they’ve bitten down to still her tongue.
To feel the slightest touch of icy silver claws make a liar of that strength is to be stood at the edge of her grave with a whisper in her ear, asking if she wants to know what lies beyond. Perhaps, she whispers back. But isn’t it more fun to wonder?
So she lets the thought of those claws linger in her mind. In the dark of her apartment, safe from impropriety, the lead drops and she is free to savor the fantasy. A feast from the rime of a sudden coldsnap in midsummer that keeps her up at night, shivering. Hands to herself.

Guile's Theme:
You do not know the LENGTHS I went to verify which version of Guile's Theme this is. I literally thought this was some midi cover made by some dude but then I saw this was actually the snes version. But I was like "hmmm the snes version sounds a bit different tho" then I realized that the different versions of street fighter II uses different sound fonts or instruments or whatever. You might be thinking "didnt we already establish that there are different versions of sf2?" ohohohoho I'm not talking about the different console versions no no. I'm talking about shit like super street fighter II turbo or street fight II champion addition, the different versions that were released on the same fucking systems. There are FOUR different versions of street fighter II just on the snes and the arcade version has six! Anyways this is the Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers on the snes released in Japan on June 25, 1994 version goddamnit. The shit I do just to fact check a song that's been meme'd to hell and back.

At 55, Martha's no longer the spring chicken she once was but that doesn't mean she's weak by a long shot. Martha can and has gone up against the Batman of her own timeline despite the two of them being well into middle age at this point and Thomas Wayne holding himself back from inflicting harm against his former wife. Still, being the Joker is no easy life and Martha frequently contends with other enemies such as rival crooks, cops and hapless civilians who want no part of her mad games. People often underestimate Martha for various reasons; she's not the tallest nor the most physically powerful person one could meet in Gotham what with being an older woman. In fact, she'd almost seem harmless were it not for the torn lips and stitches holding ragged flesh together suggesting her ability to withstand pain is right up there - if she even has the cognitive function to register physical pain anymore. Might only goes so far in a fight and when it comes to fights however and Martha isn't afraid to fight dirty, pulling out every filthy trick in the book to win. Why wrestle somebody when a bullet through the brain does the job much more quickly? Why waste time beating around the bush and making a grand spectacle of things when you can simply ambush your prey, cutting them down before they even realize what's happening? Whatever it takes to beat you, you can be sure Martha's planned on it and when push comes to shove, people are often surprised that she's no slouch on the battleground either, moving far quickly than you'd expect an older woman to be able to. Strength is certainly nice but it doesn't help much if you get a scalpel to the eye socket before you've got the chance to do anything with it.

rewatching ben whishaw's richard ii and yea i think the biggest difference between his and the rsc version is that he plays richard's flippancy/disregard for other people's lives completely straight and in a kind of sinister way while david plays it for humor
#shoutout to the scene with dt's richard and gaunt because it's so FUCKING funny dwhgjkflkjwjlw#it's like that one twelve scene in dw where he's reading clara's flashcards for social interaction#and he's like 'uh i'm sorry for the death of your friend slash family member slash pet'. Same energy#ricky 2#ws#in terms of 'what's more fun for me to watch' i like david better but both are v good ways to play the character imo#one emphasizes the dislikability and the other emphasizes the hubris#although i don't think playing richard's character for humor would work as well without an audience to bounce it off of#one of the weakest parts of david's 2009 film hamlet is that (now that i've listened to an audio clip of the stage recording)#the hamlet w rosencrantz/guildenstern bit in act 2 scene 2 is filled with too much dead air where the live audience would normally laugh#and like hamlet Is meant to be more Funny as a play in a way richard ii is not so it's not like. dealbreaking or anything#but i am so grateful that the rsc richard ii is a stage recording rather than. made for tv bc i can imagine a world#where tv dt richard ii would have a bunch of scenes like the hamlet/ros/guil scene where it would drag more than it needed to#so like while i do slightly prefer the rsc version both versions are ultimately best suited to their respective mediums#also rory kinnear plays henry a lot more human and sympathetic than nigel lindsay does#which means that while he is much much much more entertaining to watch#i do feel like the wider theme of the fragility and sheer ridiculousness of the monarchy as a concept comes thru better in the rsc version#as well as (perhaps accidentally..) satirizing the english nationalistic sentiment expressed by a bunch of the characters#but then again i don't think that's what hollow crown was shooting for they wanted to do a grounded drama and they did a grounded drama

It's all fun and games making your morning alarm to Guile's theme from Super Street Fighter 2
Until your cat knows that song means he's about to get his breakfast. Now Guile's theme is a pavlovian trigger to your cat that there can be no peace until M. Bison pays for what he did to your best friend. Or at least until the kibble goes in his dish.
Relevant video attached.

Smell of the Game:
Sometimes Daisuke Ishiwatari writes a song so incredible he proceeds to build an entire fighting game around it.

One thing I've said before is that if Lady ever got to be playable again, she should be permitted to use items like those that appeared in the classic games, instead of having a DT gauge, just to sell the fact that she is a human being keeping up with the most powerful devils in the world through guile and perseverance.
I figure these are obtained the way Nero obtains Devil Breakers. Lady has a limited inventory that she can stock with items she either finds in levels or purchases at the skill shop.
Being the stand-in for a Devil Trigger, they would be activated with the L1/LB button by default. Items would be selected with the directional pad. Some of the items would also have functions that mimic those of a standard Devil Trigger.
Here's some items I think Lady could have access to:
Vital Star: Returning from the classic games is a green star-shaped crystal, that restores some health upon consumption. If you think it's not in-character for Lady to use a Vital Star, maybe a more sci-fi-themed healing item would be more appropriate.
High-Caliber Ammo: An item that grants a unique power-up for whichever non-Kalina Ann weapon she has equipped. This replaces her charged shots from Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition, which turned her handgun bullets into incendiary or explosive shots, and her shotgun shells into piercing and shredding shots.
Grenade: Exactly what it sounds like. Throwing can be delayed like in many shooter games.
Landmine: A different kind of explosive that activates when an enemy touches it. Can be used to set up combos.
Body Armor: Equipped to grant Lady increased damage resistance, and makes her less vulnerable to flinching or being knocked down. Can only soak up so much damage before breaking.
Jetpack: Can grant Lady a traditional double jump, or an Air Raid-like state that allows her to use her ground attacks from the safety of the air, until it runs out of fuel. The image of Lady and Trish going on a flight together is very cute to me.
Tripod: Allows her to place any non-Kalina Ann weapon in the form of a turret, which will autonomously fire a set number of shots. Lady's weapon will be automatically returned to her inventory once the turret's shots are depleted, once combat ends, or once she places down another turret.
Unnamed speed-boosting drug: Primarily this would increase Lady's movement speed, melee attack speed, and melee damage for a short duration. This would be a pale purple substance that's consumed either through an inhaler or straight-up snorted as powder. This item should also alter Lady's dialogue while it's active, representing a manic and even more violent attitude. To provoke even more concern, perhaps using this item should cause Lady to take a small amount of damage. It should probably add a red tint to the screen too.
And finally, her most powerful item would be a small vehicle, which can be summoned in similar ways to Nightmare from Devil May Cry 5 (air dropped, burrowing from the ground, bursting through a wall, etc.).
I'm imagining this vehicle was made using mechanisms from a dismantled Kalina Ann II, and the original Kalina Ann can interface with it in the same way, granting access to moves like Cascade and Mega Cascade. This vehicle has a limited pool of health, and will explode when its health is depleted, after ejecting Lady.
I haven't settled on a name for the vehicle, but I'm partial to Maddona. According to the wiki, this was another name for the Virgin Mary who, along with Beatrice and St. Lucia (Trish and Lucia's namesakes), aided Dante Alighieri in his journey through hell. It's speculated that the name Madonna is what inspired Lady's chosen name.
