Sweaters on the mind tonight. Sneezing into the sleeves of one. Rubbing your nose on the wool and the loose threads making the tickle spark back up. A person who often dresses light- or alternately, somebody who tends to dress formal, in the cold weather bundled up, letting everyone know they don't feel well. A sickie wearing their partners too-big cozy sweater because they're gone and it smells like them
#guess who bought some sweaters today lmao#one of them is extra cute i cant wait to wear it to band pratice tomorrow#snz stuff#snz#sneeze kink

-Where Was She?- George Weasley x Female Reader
☼-☪-☼
Summary: Taking a trip through Diagon Alley to help your nephew pick out robes and books for her first day at Hogwarts should of been uneventful, and it was until your niece was very excited to look inside a colorful shop, with a ginger with a top hat on top.
Kody: Ha, it rhymes. I am just hilarious. Also i’m giving them names, cause i can and if i don’t i’ll get confused lmao. Also changing some plot for this story lol.
House: Ex- Gryffindor / Half blood
Possible Triggers / Warnings: cursing, George being a simp, Fred being utterly confused half the time, that good fluff
☼-☪-☼
you were currently stirring a bowl of cupcake batter when the house phone rang. In a quick haste, you drop the whisk in the sink and ran over to the living room and towards the house phone. You pick it up and press and the call button before holding it up to your ear.
“L/n residence. Who am i speaking to?” you ask in a polite manner as you wiped your hand on the pink apron you wore. “Hey Y/n, it’s me Kai. So i just got a last minute meeting and i won’t be able to take Aedyn to diagon alley to get his books, robes and such. I have money to give you and such”
you could hear the irritation in his voice, he hated missing important memory making moments with his son, but he really needed the money considering his wife dipped when Aedyn was born. You smile lightly, having not been back to Diagon Alley in year since you graduated. You missed it.
“no problem, i’ll make sure to take a ton of pictures for you. Don’t worry about it, i get to see some of my old classmates and i’m fine with paying- “ “-no Y/n, i’m paying” Kai tried to interject, but you made screeching noise with your mouth. “Sorry, can’t hear you. Your cutting out. Love you!” you quickly hung up.
☼-☪-☼
the day had arrived and you wore a black turtleneck with a burnt orange button up as well as black pants. You had just arrived to Diagon Alley with Aedyn and he seemed a bit upset. “hey dude, you alright?” you asked, nudging his shoulder with your arm. He shrugged, looking ahead.
“i just thought that dad would take me shopping, i know he isn’t a wizard or anything. It’s just-” you stop walking and crouch down to height “Yeah i get it, i loved going to Diagon Alley with my parents, but let’s make the most out of this yeah? Your witchy aunt has got your back!”
your enthusiasm seemed to cheer him up as the corners of his mouth turned up “Okay, the first thing on the list is robes” he says, pulling a sheet of folded up paper from his back pocket. You smile and stand back up “Robes it is, onwards my dear nephew”
☼-☪-☼
after buying about three sets of robes as well as uniform shirts and pants, you both went to get textbooks, which was super boring. Once you had finished stacking all the textbooks, you held them all by a string. Aedyn didn’t seem to want a animal, you didn’t either when you attended Hogwarts.
as you walked with Aedyn, you felt a tug on your sleeve “Oh, can we go in there!” he says, you look to where he was pointing and saw a shop decorated in orange and hints of purple. Looking up, you saw a statue picking up it’s top hat. Oh. OH. “the weasleys wizard wheezes?” you ask, looking down at him.
he met your gaze and tilts his head “Have you been there before?” he questions and you nod your head once “Yeah. Once. It was when it first opened though, so it may have changed” you spoke, shrugging it off. You grab his head and walk into the colorful shop.
how much has changed?
as you step in, your almost overwhelmed by the variety of things in the shop. It really didn’t change much. There were kids running around and parents who seemed displeased at there kids dashing through the place. A feeling of nostalgia ran through you.
“Aedyn!”
“Luke!”
your nephew turns up to look at you “Can me and luke check out the shop together?” he asked eagerly, making you chuckle. You nod once and both of the boys run off. You sigh contently and place the textbooks down near the umbrella holder. Stuffing your hands in your pocket, you began to casually stroll around.
the Weasley’s wizard wheezes. What a cool place. “Welcome miss. First time?” you turn to face one of the ginger haired twins in the flesh, wearing a orange sweater and beige pants. George Weasley. you give him a polite smile, collecting yourself quickly.
“Thank you. Um- no not my first time. I came here with Hermione Granger when you guys first opened.” you explain, tapping your foot on the ground. He raises a brow. You seemed to have spiked his interest “You know Hermione? How come i’ve never seen you before?”
you shrug your shoulders, making a clueless face. “I’ve been told i blend into the background, so that could be why” you say. He steps closer to you, analyzing your face “How could i have missed you? Were you on any teams?” guess you were playing twenty questions now.
you stifle a laugh as you began to walk around once more, the twin sticking to your side “No, i never liked attention. I did watch all the quidditch tournaments- Oh! I started the weakly quidditch magazine for the school” you say, thinking he remember seeing it somewhere or maybe he had read it before?
you watch his honey colored eyes light up “Oh! yeah i read that. Wait- if i remember correctly you wrote one just about me” his smile turned into a grin. Oh how embarrassing. You chuckle bashfully as you use your hand to cover your mouth for a second “Yes. I did. You were a quidditch heartthrob. It sold well”
you hear him gasp loudly and watch as he places a hand over his chest, where his heart was “You used my face to sell magazines?” he said. Wait a minute. “How do you know i put your face in the article?” you question, your own grin forming. A bashful smile makes a way onto his face.
“I bought one for myself” he spoke and you burst into a fit of laughter at his confession “Oh wow, Mr. Weasley” you say, joking with the formality. You both were now making your way back to the entrance, where you two had started your journey in the first place.
“Just call me George.”
you two then talked for what felt like hours, but in reality it was twenty minutes. You both had a lot of common interest and soon enough. The Weasley started to flirt with you. It was playful and cute and you found it adorable coming from him. As he reached to push a strand of hair from your face and loud shout was heard.
“Were late! We are so late!” Aedyn came running from the top story of the shop “Dad said to be home an hour ago!” and with that he ran out the shop. You E/c eyes widen. Oh shit. You quickly grab up the textbooks, a confused George staring at you. “Wait, your leaving?”
“Yes” you force out as you quickly rushed out the shop, George following. He stops in front and watches as you run away “When can i see you again?!- What’s your name?!” he shouts, catching the attention of a few wizards and witches passing by.
you give him a quick smile before you turn the corner, leaving his sight completely. What’s the fun in that right?
☼-☪-☼
“Hey George. I’m back!” Fred Weasley called out from the shared home. He raised a brow when there was no answer and walked down the hallway, he turns the handle of Georges room and pushes the door open. He sees boxes scattered everywhere.
George was sitting on the floor, looking through stacks of old school papers “What in the bloody hell is going on?” Fred asked, looking a his brother strangely. George snaps his head towards his brother and stands up quickly. “Do you remember the weakly quidditch magazine?”
“Yes?”
“Do you know where i kept the one written about me?”
“Yes”
“Where is it?”
“...I’ll be right back”
Fred left the room and returned a couple minutes later with an tattered magazine “Your article is on page 5-” George ripped the magazine from his brothers hand and began to turn the pages rapidly “Okay then” Fred walks over to sit on George’s bed.
“Found it! When George Weasley isn’t pulling pranks. He is expertly playing the quidditch field, just like yesterday's game. Taking out both Ravenclaw beaters at the same time. Charming, good looking, funny, and skilled. No wonder the girl’s of Hogwarts are fawning over Gryffindors beater. -Y/n L/n”
George smiled brightly “Y/n L/n, that’s her name..She called me good looking. Where was she when i was at Hogwarts?” he gushed, making Fred roll his eyes “Your talking about Y/n? How is she doing, heard her nephew is starting Hogwarts soon. I was supposed to meet her today, but i got caught up”
George’s head snapped like an owl towards his brother “You know her? Did you sleep with her Freddy? You horny bastard. You just had to sleep with half of the girls at Hogwarts didn’t you? Couldn’t leave anyone for me? First Lavender brown then Hermione Granger, now Y/n. What the hell man?”
Fred waited for his brother to stop talking with a irritated expression “First of all. I didn’t sleep with her. Second of all, we kept in touch because i thanked her for writing an article about me, like she did for you. Also! You didn’t notice her, because your fucking stupid. I’m making dinner” he announced.
he stood from the bed and walked out the room. George pouted “Can we have mac and cheese?!”
“No!........Okay fine!”
☼-☪-☼
fast forward to about two weeks and Aedyns birthday was coming up. He had taken a liking to quidditch and you wanted to get him a new broom. It was a bit chilly outside so you decided on black high waisted skin tight jeans, a light grey long sleeve t-shirt, and a heather grey and a charcoal colored button up.
“Quality Quidditch Supplies” you read out loud, this was definitely the place where she saw kids get brooms. You step in and began to look around at the broom’s, wondering which was a good fit for your nephew. You were looking at the Nimbus collection when a ginger haired boy jumps out from behind it.
you jump back a bit “George?! What the hell. You almost gave me a heart attack!” you shout. He smiles nervously “So after our last encounter, i found that article you wrote about me” he spoke. You rolled your eyes and began to look at the broom’s once again “Okay” you said plainly.
“You said i was good looking and charming. Y/n L/n” he says, a twinkle of pride in his eye. “Your also friends with my brother and didn’t tell me” he said, that pride turning into slight jealousy.”You didn’t ask” you said simply said, his eye twitched in irritation.
“Anyway, i was wondering if you could go out with me- like on date. Next saturday?” he says, you saw the hopeful look in his eyes as you looked from the broom to him. Aw. “No” you said, waiting to see his reaction. He blinks mindlessly for a couple of seconds “i’m sorry, i shouldn’t have asked-”
“-I have to watch a quidditch match. It’s my job for the witch weekly. i report for the local matches. I would love to go some other time” you say, giving him a genuine smile. He rubs the back of his neck “That’s the only time i’m free this mouth! Oh how ‘bout i go with you?” he asked.
you shrugged “I’m okay with that. I’ll be distracted half the time though” you explain. He smiles happily “Wicked. Plus, i’d like to see you all focused. I bet it’s cute” he said, leaning in close, his hand placed on the shelf above your head. There goes the flirting again.
you pretend to not have heard him and reach into your pocket for a piece of paper and pen. He tilts his head curiously and tries to read what you were writing, but you shielded him away with your hand. “What’re?-” he was cut off when you walked passed him and grabbed a Nimbus infinity.
you walk up to the counter and pay for the broom. It was quite costly, but you didn’t mind. George followed like a lost puppy, until you both made it outside. You turn around and hand him the paper. George grabs the note and reads an address? “What is this?” he asked. Boys are so dumb.
“Write me sometime, Weasley. I’ll see you on saturday” with those parting words, you turn on your heels and began to walk away with a sway of your hips. George sighed deeply as a warm feeling invaded in every being “Merlin. Fred was right. I’m whipped.”
☼-☪-☼
the week spent apart was quite wholesome. George wrote you kind letters, sometimes flirty ones and send you small treats within them. Once he sent a pressed flower, a marigold. You didn’t think he have such a soft side to him. Each day a new letter came and you grew to like the Weasley boy more and more.
the day had finally arrived when you would be attending the quidditch match. You wore a black turtleneck and heather grey pants, paired with regular sneakers. You were waiting at the entrance for the weasley boy, looking up t the sky. It looked like it was about to storm. Hopefully it would clear up soon.
“Hey!” a bright cheery voice shouted. You look back down to see George coming up to you. His shoulder length hair was tied back in a ponytail, with loose strands framing his face. He wore a burnt orange sweater with white and brown plaid pants. Style.
you smile lightly and nod your head towards him “Hello” you spoke and watch as his honey colored eyes gazed at your outfit “Your looking ravishing, per usual” his comment made you snort. You shake your head and wave your hand “C’mon. I have front row seats” you say, making his eyes go wide.
“Woah! Really!?”
☼-☪-☼
you both were seated in the bleachers with an amazing view of the game. You took out a notepad along with a pen, getting ready to take notes. George watched you as the game started. You bit your bottom lip when you were ‘in the zone’ as you would call it. George would call it cute.
the match was highly eventful and George had a wonderful time watching, especially the small breaks when you would talk to him. He would occasionally feed you popcorn as your wrote. Gotta make sure you were fed. You secretly liked it.
the match came to an end when one of the teams caught the snitch and the crowd roared in applause and boos. George stood up, cheering while you politely stood alongside him, clapping your hands. The cheers began to die down as heavy rain poured out of nowhere.
people began to scramble out of the bleachers like ants so they could apparate out of there. You look at George who’s hair was damp, strands of ginger hair sticking to the side of his face. he was just staring at you “What?” you call out over the loud sounds of the rain.
“I had a great time. I wish i had met you in Hogwarts so i could of had a cool girlfriend writing articles about me. Is it okay if i make up for lost time?” he said, your heart melting a his words. How smooth. A smile grew on your face “i’d love that” you said and that was all George needed.
he wrapped his arms around your waist and pulled you in for a deep kiss. Rain came down on both of you and your notes were most likely destroyed, but you were too in the moment to care. You two eventually left the bleachers and apparated to your place where you gave him a change of clothes and hot tea.
the day ended with you two cuddled up on your couch, next to the fireplace and it couldn’t be more perfect.
☼-☪-☼
Kody: the sheer amount of writers block this shit gave me was insane. Anyways, peace.

Go to school do my work come home shower do homework and shut down even though it'll be early so I have no idea what to do. Imaybe I'll just draw or listen to music to pass time until I learn to just sit there and not even notice time passing until it's time to go o sleep so I dit wake up roo early just stop. If I eat it will only be fruits and veggies... I ate stuff and I told myself I wouldn't purge yesterday and I didn't. I didn't even eat much, I ate like a normal person but words kept replaying and I purged today then I cut. I ate cereal which is no where near a safe food so idk why I did it, fucking dumbass bitch lol. Guess it my own fault, should've known I couldn't handle it, so I purged. I cut on my hips so no one sees I did two cuts on my rist and each thigh but it's not obvious I just... Wanted to do it to give myself the satisfaction I had before when I did it wherever but I want to be cautious since my sister bought my shorts and I wear short sleeves now because I don't have many sweaters, need to buy some but kind of hard lol, so I wear short sleeves so e times and don't want anyone I find out... Not like anyone will see my hips... Right?... It jaut feels so good. I get up and walk and feel my cuts on my hip, I mean yeah it's a surprise when I'm sitting for a while and get up and feel this shot of pain and I love it. But it doesn't last long... I still feel it right now though but that because it's a freshes cut, a few hours ago. Lmao.... I'm relapsin on everything this month.... It's been a while since I purged or cut but here I am.. doing both.. so fuckin proud of you, you're such a fucking pathetic stupid bitch. Dying all that motivating shit just to end up back here... You better succeed this time.... At least I'm keeping my grades uo this time... I'll lose weight... I won't have to purge anymore... It was just once but the cuts will... Probably keep coming but not too deep.. I don't have any scars and I probably won't this time either. But they will start to look pretty on my thin frail legs rather then these fat fucks lol... I don't usually cuss this much.. I guess I really got to myself this time... I'm really young a lot too.. probably getting annoying lmao... I'm just gonna listen to music and go to bed... Probably gonna fast for a little or who knows maybe I'll fuck myself over again and have to end up purging I guess I'll never know :") btw allthsoe time I said my mom made me eat this or that was just me trying not to seem like a fat pig, just an accuse I gave myself my mom would rather me starve and become skinny she couldn't give two shits about me sorry about he lies I'll be honest for now... Last thing you bought online? Did you like it? OMG OMG so I got Angela an Army Bomb!!!!!! for her birthday!!!! It was HELLLL looking for sealed ones that were already onhand, but fortunately I was able to find one from this really nice seller a few days ago and the shipping was quick as well. I’m just a little worried because the outbox has a little dent on it :( but it was the best onhand offer I could find so I got it before anybody could call dibs. I still hope she likes it! I got her batteries too so that she can try lighting it up as soon as she has it. :D
Could you date someone who didn’t drive (and didn’t show an interest in ever getting their license, either)? I feel like this is such a petty thing to make a big deal about...if they knew how to commute or any other way to get to their destination, I don’t think this should be a problem. It would only be an issue to me if they refused to get a license in a very I-generally-lack-ambition kind of way.
How would you react if your artwork became famous? I don’t have any to show off to begin with. I love appreciating art, but creating it was never a forte of mine.
Would you get your nipples pierced? No, I don’t plan on getting any piercings. How many people know your birthday? Outside of my family, my best friends. I think everyone else relies on Facebook to be reminded, which is fine with me.
Has anyone ever tried to ruin a relationship you were in? No. Quite the contrary, really...I was sometimes informed about red flags taking place, which of course my stubborn ass ignored.
Have you ever watched a whole hour long infomercial? Probably, as a kid. The channel from which I used to watch WWE aired these really long infomercials so I would watch those while waiting for like Raw or whatever show was going on after.
What is your current MySpace song? I never hung out on Myspace. I had an account, but I was too young for it so it wasn’t long before I got bored.
What is your favorite kind of meat to put on your sandwich? Pulled pork or fried chicken.
Which one of your exes do you feel like you have the most chemistry with? I only have one ex.
How do you feel about people who make Facebook profiles for their pets? I find it really cute. But I personally wouldn’t put in as much effort lol.
Have you ever personally known a pair of conjoined twins? Hmmmmmmmm I don’t think so.
What was the most disturbing thing you have ever heard your mother say? She threatened suicide in front of me and my dad in a very calm way when I was around 11, I think? Maybe 12, idk. I haven’t actually thought about that moment in an extremely long time until this question. I’ll move on now and shove the memory at the very very back of my head before I get sad.
Is there something in particular you like to look at photos of? What is it? Aside from members of BTS (lol), interior design inspirations.
Chewy chocolate-chip cookies: like or dislike? Ooh, love. When I bite into a cookie it hassssss to ooze chocolate, otherwise I would be underwhelmed.
If your boyfriend/girlfriend wanted to dress only in the opposite sex’s clothing, would you support that? If not, would you leave them? Support.
Do you think your grandmother is/was beautiful? They both are.
Which of your fields of interest are you a total expert on? Anything that has to do with writing (except poems), I guess? I like being able to give people advice and tips when it comes to that.
When was the last time you got all dolled up? Last July when we had a big PR media launch thingy and I couldn’t afford to look like shit on Zoom.
Do you ever name objects? (i.e. mp3 players, guitars, cars, etc.) Never.
Do you have a criminal record? Not criminal but it’s possibleeeee that I have some kind of record on my license from the time I got stopped by an officer in Alabang, lmao. It was a minor offense from a tiny part of the town so I don’t actually know if they filed it, but it’s possible.
Last person you took a nap with? I don’t really nap with other people. I hate falling asleep in front of others to begin with.
Does seeing your mother cry automatically make you feel sad as well? No.
Do you think someone likes the same person you like? I don’t like anybody.
Do you want your life to stay the way it is right now forever? No, I do not want to stay in a pandemic and not get to maximize my life the way it’s supposed to be enjoyed forever.
Have you ever been to craigslist.com? I’ve never checked it out; idk if we have that here?
What about eBay? I also dunno if they operate here so no, I’ve never bothered.
Have you ever used Nair? Not Nair, but I’ve used Veet before.
Are you medicated? Nope.
Do you shape/fill in your eyebrows? I never do stuff to my eyebrows except shave them.
Have you ever stolen/borrowed clothes from an ex? Several articles of clothing were left behind here, yeah. I never had the chance to give them back because I stupidly thought we were going to get back together eventually. By the time I moved on the timing was already off, so the clothes stayed with me untillll...just a few days ago, actually – when I finally cleaned up my room and got rid of a bunch of knickknacks that accumulated here over the years, including all her shirts and sweaters and stuff.
Could you make a statement about anything political? The 2022 presidential election landscape looks like complete shit and I’m nearly at that point where I want to stop giving a fuck about this country’s future.
Do you think you’ve already met your soulmate? No.
Do you get the feeling something good will happen in your life soon? I think I’m already living in it, haha.
Do you enjoy romantic movies, even when they’re cliche? Sure, but cliché is also hit and miss for me. I love Titanic and Love Actually, but I cannot stand movies like Me Before You and The Notebook. I guess it depends on certain executions, like the acting, screenplay, casting, etc.
Have you been to McDonald’s in the past month? No, not inside. We did drive-thru within the last month, though.
Have you ever slept over at your best friend’s house? Not at Andi’s, but I have at Angela’s.
How often do you go bowling? Extremely rarely. I can’t tell you the last time I went bowling.
Last time you were in an apartment? Like 2007 when I visited my aunt back when she still lived in one. None of my friends have their own apartments.
Have you ever seen a live seahorse? I don’t think so.
Would you like to have your own yacht? I mean I wouldn't say no if you offered it to me for free, but I'm not exactly interested in one. < Same.
Winnie the Pooh or Tigger? Tigger always made me laugh as a kid.
What’s the unhealthiest thing you’ve eaten today? Luncheon meat, I think? I didn’t go overboard with the junk food today.
Has a stranger ever offered to buy you a drink? Hm, not that I can recall.
What is something you’d be happy to receive as a gift, that doesn’t cost a lot? A bag of the salted egg chips that I really like costs like 30 bucks, or roughly 60 US cents.
What kind of music does your significant other/crush like to listen to? I don’t have any irl crushes, can I use a celebrity crush instead? HAHA he’s heavily into jazz and whenever he gets asked for music recos he always gives jazz artists from like the 50s and 60s.
Who did you have your first kiss with? Do you remember what colour his/her eyes were? Gab. Dark brown.
Are there any themes from TV shows that you like to sing along to? The Big Bang Theory and Friends; and then I also liked humming to the themes of Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead, and BoJack Horseman. The Phineas & Ferb theme was also a lot of fun to sing along to.
Do you eat dessert after dinner? No, I never do that. I’m usually already full after dinner, and we don’t always have sweets at home anyway.
Have you ever had too much to drink and felt embarrassed about your behavior the next day? Sure.
When you go out drinking, what do you prefer to drink? Cocktails. I very rarely go for hard drinks/shots, especially if I brought my own car.
What was the last animal that you saw? Dog.
What was the last thing that you said to one of your siblings? I just told my sister I was done using her laptop so she can have it back. My Memories of 2020 DVD turned out to be region-locked so I have to use her laptop every time I want to watch it :(
What is the most expensive thing that you’ve purchased that you paid for: My Map of the Soul photobook cost me around 5k in total.
What is your favorite messaging program? Messenger.
Do you eat fast food more than 5 times a week? Wow no. Aside from being extremely unhealthy, that’s also a LOT of spending??
Have you ever almost drowned? Yes.
Have you ever learned something shocking about someone through Facebook? I mean I’ve had to learn about more than one family death through my Facebook feed, which sucks but is nothing I have control over. Otherwise the most shocking thing I’ve seen is probably classmates from high school having their own kids, but at this point I’m used to it already.
What’s the scariest living animal that you’ve petted? I’m not really afraid of carrying/petting animals especially if there’s a guide or expert nearby, but the most daring one was probably the crocodile I volunteered to hold in Palawan.
Do you remember the first conversation you ever had with the person you currently have feelings for? Not at all.
Do you dread certain days of the week? If yes, what day/s and why? I hate Mondays for obvious reasons lol. I don’t know anyone who is actively cheery about reporting back to work.
If you eat oatmeal, do you have it plain or do you have certain toppings that you like to add to it? I never eat oatmeal. I had that every single day for breakfast from like kindergarten to 4th grade and I vowed never to take a spoonful of it again.
What is the funniest or strangest thing you’ve ever heard somebody say in their sleep? I dunno. I used to keep a log of the things my ex used to say in her sleep and a great deal of them were hilarious, but obviously I deleted that note a long time ago.

genre: college au, teacher/student, dance instructor!hoseok, dance student! y/n, fluff
warning(s)!!!: college stress (duh), y/n waited a couple years after high school before college for fiances, it’s not a college au unless someone works at a coffee shop lol, flirty hoseok, y/n might be a bit ditzy but in a cute way, y/n is also scared of storms
w.count: 5.4k
summary: moving to Seoul, South Korea had been a dream of yours and when you found out that you got accept at one of the best universities, you couldn’t have been happier! That is until you met your dance teacher. He was handsome, but strict and he made you fall for him hard. You never thought he would feel the same until you got locked up one rainy night.
Series | One-shot | Two-shot | Drabble | [Rated: PG-13]
a/n: this is my contribution to BangtanIDX Prompt Twist! I got @pjmsgalaxy prompt, so I hope she (and everyone else) enjoys it! Gotta be honest, I’m not sure if I’ve ever written a teacher/student fic and i don’t read much of them dafdlskf, there’s a first time for everything LMAO I hope I did alright asdlfjakj (I also very very sloppily proof read this, or i proofread half of it then got lazy uhoh)
“Where did I-” you muttered to yourself as you dug through the fourth box in your newly moved into studio apartment. You were a reigning champ of procrastination and now you were looking for your gym duffel to place all your dance equipment in.
Not finding it in lucky box number four, you sighed and continued your quest to find the hideously amazing holographic duffel your mother had bought for you just before your move to Seoul. “There you are!” You exclaimed as you saw a small patch of shining, colorful silver before you grabbed it and yanked it out. Small trinkets and pens flew from the box in its rupture out of the cardboard prison.
It had been just two days since you had signed a lease for this single, tiny, cramped apartment in Seoul. But, it was your best choice of living because who would’ve thought that Seoul’s living expenses were through the roof. It would do, however; since you were finally getting ready to enroll in Hanyang University in their department of dance. Part of your subconscious wasn’t able to comprehend the fact that you managed to get into a private university in Seoul, but nonetheless there you were.
You sat on your floor, boxes all around you with your holographic duffel with rainbow striped straps on your lap. You sighed as you felt a small flutter of nerves in your chest.
This was what you have wanted since you realized how much you loved dancing. Graduating, majoring in dance, going to a prestigious school. It was all so much more dazzling than you thought it’d be. Of course, you had to take a couple years off of high school to save up enough money to even begin thinking about college tuition, but now here you were. Two years of hard work finally paid off as you were enrolling into education once more.
“Oh shoot,” you hissed as you placed the duffel aside and made for other boxes. “I need to find my alarm clock. I know I just saw it,” you muttered more as you began to once again dig around. Unpacking fully would need to wait- it was already 7 in the evening. Unpacking your new home would be a tomorrow job and future you’s problem.
It was bright and early the next day as you dragged yourself out of your messy, box filled apartment with a bag of books and folders and your duffel packed full with a water bottle, proper shoes and a change of clothes. Along with your typical dance classes of ballet and choreography (or also called composition) courses, you would be taking your standard classes as well. Dance history and theory for example. Those were more sit down and take notes classes, so your standard textbook and spiral notebook were absolutely a must.
Dressed with your jeans rolled to your calf and your shirt untucked, you walked to sit patiently at the public bus stop just in time to catch the 8 o’clock morning rounds. Getting off with a handful of other college students, you almost halted at the university gates. Those nerves thumping in your chest again before you pulled yourself together and finally took those first steps as a twenty-year-old college student.
You entered the spacious dance studio your choreography class was held in as you gulped. You had just changed into your leggings and sweater with your less than brilliant shoes with just enough grip left on the soles not to slide around.
You ducked your head instinctively as you trotted to the back of the room. The mirrors across the studio tracked your every tiptoed step as some students were stretching. Some were doing warm ups, some doing small numbers of footwork, others just standing talking or keeping to themselves until the instructor came. You were of the latter group. Taking refuge up in a corner as you sat your duffel (that happened to stand out way too much among the others) behind you and took a seat.
As you sat, you opened your legs in front of you and did small stretches just to occupy yourself until the class began. The lump in your throat made it damn near impossible to even try and talk to someone else even though you knew you’d be working and dancing with these people through your major years.
As you were stretching forward to grab around your foot and feel the comfortable pull in your legs, you silently hoped that the instructor you ended up with wouldn’t be a complete nightmare. You’ve seen and read one too many dramatic stories that involve over the top teachers who have the ‘perfect or failing’ mentality. Of course, you knew that it was all for show and production in your books or on your television screen- but nonetheless, it was stressful to think about.
You yelped when someone tapped your shoulder, getting your attention as you were previously too lost in thought about an over dramatic, middle-age crone with a permanent frown as your teacher- may as well imagine Lady Tremaine as the instructor of your nightmares.
When you turned, ready to apologize you nervously chuckled as you saw the handsome red haired man sat beside you with a Puma bag beside him. Wearing gym shorts and a jacket matching his duffel with worn out shoes, he pushed his hair out of the way of his sweat band around his head. He smiled, waving at you.
“First year, huh?” He asked gleefully as you just nodded before clearing your throat.
“Oh, yeah. I just enrolled. I feel a bit awkward since I’m older than the other freshman by a couple years. Guess that's what I get for taking a couple years after highschool though, huh?” You joked back to the stranger as he sat and crossed his legs beside you. He nodded, closing his eyes in a face of understanding.
“Makes since though. This school isn’t cheap, for sure.” With another nod, he opened eyes when he grinned widely again at you. “Don’t worry about it,” he told you with a shoulder pat. “You look young anyways. You’ll fit right in. We twenty-somethings’ need to stick together, huh?” He asked as you looked at him with a small sparkle in your eyes.
“You’re in your twenties?” You gasped lightly. “Oh, jeez that was rude. Sorry,” you awkwardly brush off as you mentally screech into the void. Thankfully, he just laughed at you- but seemed blissfully unoffended.
“I’m definitely in my twenties,” he confirmed. He looked at the watch on his wrist as he silently opened his mouth into an ‘o’ as he started to uncross his legs to stand. He patted your back again. “Thanks for the chat, I’m a lot less anxious now,” he told you as he started moving away. You looked back to your lap and let out a breath. You smiled. If anything- he was the one who worked your anxiety away.
Your attention was grabbed when the studio door was shut and someone clapped from the front of the studio by the wall full of mirrors. Repeated students from previous years were soon sitting down and the freshmen were all sitting rigid- just as you were in your corner.
At the front of the class was the same guy who was just talking to you. Setting his duffel from his shoulder to his feet by the mirror wall on the floor. He turned and placed his hands on his hips as he looked around the room of 20 something students. Some familiar, some not. He just smiled at them all as a group.
“I sure hope this is everyone,” he started speaking when the small murmuring of others died down to focus on him. “I don’t take well to students being late, so make sure to remember that. If you’re not here on time, I’m locking that door and you’re not getting in.” He addressed, pointing to the studio door that was firmly shut. “On with formalities then,” he clapped again as he moved to start pacing back and forth along the mirrors. “As of today, some of you had never seen me before. Why? Well, because you're new of course.” He stopped in his paces before he turned to face the class sitting on the wooden floor. “I’m Jung Hoseok, and I’m this studio’s choreography instructor. Feel free to address me casually if you’d like.”
You nearly threw your head against the wall you leaned back against. You were just chatting it up and talking about age with your teacher?! He was one of very few people who really didn’t need to know your age. Not to mention, the passing thought of thinking he was an attractive man suddenly felt taboo. You’ve heard of teachers and student’s hooking up, but only in stories!
However, by the time the class ended many things were apparent to you. One, this class wasn’t going to have a shortage of difficulty. Hoseok ran through the curriculum and all the points and class topics he wanted to hit and practice through the semesters.
Two, you’d definitely need to start opening up to your classmates for group and duo projects or else you wouldn’t get very far into your college career.
Lastly three, the way Hoseok acted and carried himself like another goofy highschooler who loved dancing more than a fish loves water made him undeniably attractive and maybe- just maybe- your hopeless romantic heart thudded under your hoodie.
It was a week into your college course that you were already feeling tired from all the running back and forth between physical classes and sit down classes. You felt like your legs were screaming, but eventually you knew you’d get used to it.
You were walking as you packed your books into your bag. One thing that Hoseok made clear wasn’t a joke on the first day was his ‘locking the door if you’re late’ rule. He ended up locking 3 students out of the studio on the second day and you made sure that if it was getting close to his classes start time, you were running and weaving past students in the halls and outside in the quad. Rules be damned.
You had just stepped out of the bathroom where you had locked yourself inside a stall to change into your sweats and tee from your jean shorts and sweater when you bumped into your aforementioned handsome dance instructor.
Too busy trying to pry your water bottle out of your duffel mixed with trying to shove your wadded up clothes back into the same duffel and juggling your other class’ bag with books on your shoulder all met in the demise of your shoulder at your rammed into Hoseok’s.
Your metal thermos hit the title in the most unmelodic sound known to man as you jolt and screech in a semi-panic all in an attempt to catch it. Before you could shove your duffel behind you with your sweater hanging half out to reach for your fallen drink in it’s metal prison, Hoseok was already bent at the knees and picking it up instead.
You took the chance to shove your stupid clothes into your duffel completely and zip it when Hoseok was ready to had you your thermos. All while he just stifled a chuckle you could see building in his cheeks.
“In a rush?” He teased, knowing full well his class started in under ten minutes. You bit back the sarcastic reply on your tongue, reminding yourself that this was your teacher- not just another student you could afford to smart off to.
“Well, I don’t want to be locked out, so,” you shrugged, unsure if your tone made you seem snippy. Hopefully not.
“The day I have to lock you out of the studio for being late, maybe if you ask nicely, I’ll let it slide.” He teased as he placed your thermos into your palm. “Let’s go if you’re heading that way.”
“You’re walking with me?”
“I don’t see why not,” he shrugged. “I’m going to the same place and besides, I did say that we twenty-somethings need to stick together,” he joked in a lop-sided smile that pushed up one of his cheeks.
“I wish you’d forget that I ever mentioned my age to you at all,” you groaned as he started walking and you tailed behind him until he slowed his pace to walk beside you. You rushed into the studio in front of him to make sure you made it before him as you rushed to your designated corner before anyone could notice you walked with Hoseok to his class. Properly tying your shoes, you rotated the ball of your worn dance shoes, listening to them squeak as they tried to grip the floors the best they could.
You really needed a new pair soon. Your new job’s first paycheck will be used more for bills then it seemed, a new pair of shoes seemed to be in your future. As Hoseok started class and got everyone to their feet to work through some simple steps to get warmed up for a proper assignment on the horizon, you could help but once again admire his shift from friendly, giggly Hoseok who teased you in the hall to the strict and passionate dance instructor.
“Y/n, could you run the register for just a couple more minutes? Laura is running late, but she said she’s just around the corner stuck in that traffic jam.” Your boss begged as you were about to clock out from your third day on the job. It wasn’t too hard to learn the ropes since you knew how to work registers as well as you could recite the alphabet. You just smiled, trying to wipe the crease out of her brows. She was clearly hoping you wouldn’t say no.
“I don’t mind,” you told her, her shoulder slackening. “I know the traffic sucks today. I can hang around a bit longer. I don’t have anything else to do tonight anyways.” With a promise to pay you for your overtime from your boss, you re-tied the apron around your waist and rushed back to the front where you joined the floundering staff already there. “What can I help with?” You asked them as they rang up someone.
“Just get me away from this thing,” they half whined in a weak laugh as you stepped up and began taking orders like you were programmed to do. Working through customer after customer, you soon saw Laura rushing into the coffee shop when the bell above the door jingled. She ran to you behind the counter. Apologize for being late, you assure her to take her time and not to worry too much about it.
You finally clocked out when you snagged a muffin from the display and made your way out around the counter. Your boss spoke to you for a moment across the display of pastries as Laura was already hard at work until closing hours. You bit into your muffin as you heard someone call you. Thinking it was a co-worker from the familiar ring it had, you turned immediately only to be met with none other than Hoseok.
He came jogging up to you, a coffee in his hand.
“Oh, Instructor Jung,” you greeted in shock. He cringed as you addressed him so formally. Almost everyone in your class had already reverted to calling him by name as he so kindly requested. You were one of the very few stragglers who still addressed him so formally.
“Instructor Jung? Really? That makes me sound like some old man who hates people,” he shivered. “Just call me by name,” he told you. Your boss tapped your shoulder, asking who this stranger with the round cute cheeks and healthy red hair was. He took a sip of his coffee through the straw of his to-go cup. He reached his hand across the counter-top to your boss once he swallowed the caffeine. “Jung Hoseok,” he introduced. “I actually teach Y/n’s dance choreography class in her major.”
“Well, what a lucky girl she is,” your boss teased you with flickering eyebrows that rose and fell in quick motions. Your face bloomed as you wanted to throw the remains of your muffin at her. You were never so thankful you had so much self-restraint. “I’ll see her tapping her feet or shuffling around in the back during her break, it’s pretty adorable.” Okay, maybe less self-restraint if she kept going.
You cleared your throat, face hot as you were determined to escape. “If you’re done teasing me, I’m going home now.”
“But of course,” your boss mused. “I’ll see you back in a couple days sweetheart,” she waved as she went back to her bossly duties of bosshood.
“It was good seeing you-”
“You're heading home, yeah? I’ll drive you,” Hoseok offered before you could properly attempt to depart.
“What?” You asked in shock, nearly dropping the same muffin you wanted to throw just moments ago. “Drive me? Oh, you don’t need to. I’ll just take the bus.”
“Nonsense,” he told you, stepping beside you and nudging you with a friendly smile. “It’s cheaper this way.” That was true. The word ‘cheaper’ was your favorite among the thousands in the words as a struggling college newby. Ultimately, you ended up in the passenger seat of Hoseok’s jeep as he pulled off the curb and into the awful traffic that had previously made Laura so late to her shift. “So, you dance at work huh?” He asked, his eyes set on the road as his fingers tapped at his steering wheel.
“Oh god, please forget you ever heard her say that.”
Hoseok broke into squawks of laughter that pulled at your own lips and the tension you had built up crumbled as you began to just talk. You had even forgotten he was your instructor as you spoke to him like you were talking to a friend. It wasn't until he was pulling up in front of your apartment building when that reality came back.
“Get some rest tonight,” Hoseok told you before you stepped out of the jeep. “I’m gonna assign drills and dance routines tomorrow in class.” You blinked as you looked at him confused.
“Why tell me this? Wouldn’t it have been better to wait to tell me with the rest of the class?” You asked as Hoseok just laughed lightly back to you, nudging your thigh as you started climbing out of the jeep.
“Have a good evening, Y/n,” he told you, totally disregarding your previous questions, leaving you ever more confused. You just nodded at him, now pursuing the topic any longer than you wanted to. He watched to make sure you got up the set of outside stairs and unlocked your door before disappearing inside before he drove off.
Just as he had told you, the next day he was assigning certain groups of students different routines or tasks to practice. Over the course of the next week you’d be free to practice your assignment given to you before delivering it to Hoseok. The concept of him not particularly instructing this project was to gauge the level of self-teaching. He would supervise and give advice and tips if asked, but he would not be out right teaching just yet.
You were among the group of people given a small little number running just shy of two minutes. Focusing more on footwork and precision rather than graceful nimbleness. A faster paced routine was something you felt wasn’t your strongest set of skills, but you enjoyed the feeling of learning nonetheless.
You often spent your afternoons you didn’t have to work in the studio, or inside the practice rooms off the studio practicing. You had opened up to a few other students given the same routine and gotten their advice as you had given yours in return. Hoseok had already told you a few times things you needed to keep in mind while practicing.
This particular night, two weeks into the curriculum you had stayed just a bit too long practicing you had completely lost track of time. In fact, you would've even stopped to notice the empty rooms and the darkening skies outside if it weren’t for the knocking at the practice room’s door.
You had locked yourself inside one of the private, off studio’s to listen to the track assigned with your routine. Getting a feel for the beat and tapping to it for a rhythm balance over and over again made you lose track of time absolutely. When there was a knock you just barely managed to hear over a small dip in the music track, you looked through the room door’s window to see Hoseok waving at you to come out.
Discarding your headphones, you got up and unlocked the door. Opening it to see your instructor dressed not in his sweats and hoodies for practice, but in jeans and a tee- ready to go home for the day. He looked unfairly well dressed in casual wear.
His brow was dipped as he glanced outside just before he looked back to you in your lamp lit small room. He could hear the faint hums of your music from your headphones you left on the floor behind you.
“Why are you still here, Y/n?” He asked. You blinked at him as if he was asking some asinine question. “Classes ended hours ago and that storm in the forecast is about to hit. You should get home,” he told you. You opened your eyes as you looked over his shoulder outside the window of the main studio.
Indeed the skies were dark and sprinkled with raindrops of the future downpour. How long had you been absorbed in your music? You ran back to your headphones and phone along with your bag and duffel as Hoseok moved to the front of the studio to wait at the door, but with a jiggle of the studio’s door, his face drained of color.
A jiggle was worrisome, two was just as worrisome and three was completely worrisome with a tablespoon of panic. The door was jammed, the knob not turning and the door not budging even when Hoseok yanking or shoving on it.
You had shut off the light in the private room, walking out into the lit studio where Hoseok was fiddling with the door. You could hear the metal of the doorknob rattling under his palm echo in the empty dance room as you got to his side. You already feared what he was going to say when he turned to you with a tense expression.
“Don’t tell me,” you spoke with a fallen face as he just let go of the doorknob. All routes of escape leading to utter failure. Hoseok quickly cleared his throat as he looked around the empty room.
“Don’t worry about it,” he spoke, his voice echoing in the large emptiness. “Someone will make their rounds in the morning and get us out. I have some granola bars in my bag we can eat and extra water bottles in my duffel. We just have to tough it out for one night.”
He tried making light of the situation to ease your tense shoulders. He could understand though. You were busy and lost track of time only to be told to leave by your teacher before some nasty weather hits. Only to be now stuck in that same room he told you to leave with him. You probably wanted to go home, take a bath and sleep in your bed. But, now you were forced to stick around in the studio until morning instead. Talk about an impromptu and unwanted sleepover.
However, it wasn’t the fact you had to stay in the studio that night that made you nervous. It shockingly, it wasn’t fact you’d be sharing the space with your more than handsome dance teacher either. It was the small rumbling you heard outside that made you anxious.
The first ten minutes of your small sit down with Hoseok was rigid and uncomfortable for both parties. You were nervous as you picked at your shirt’s loose threads and Hoseok was nervous because he felt like he was making you nervous. The endless cycle of nerves was suffocating.
“Sorry for the door,” Hoseok broke the nearly nauseating silence as he scratched behind his neck. “I didn’t think it’d be busted. Someone must have slammed it shut and jammed it or something.”
“It’s fine,” was your curt answer.
Hoseok looked into the mirrors, watching your reflection- too afraid of freaking you out if he actually looked at you. He cleared his throat. “So, uh- how’s your routine coming?” He tried again. Maybe a different topic will result in different results.
“It’s coming,” you shrugged. “Clearly I’m focusing on it too much,” you told him, motioning to the current situation.
“At least you don’t work today, right?” Hoseok tried lifting the spirits in the room with a smile. You cracked a smile back to him finally.
“That’s-”
The sky shook with thunder, interrupting your voice as Hoseok looked outside the window. The rain had begun as it pelted against the windows. You could hear the wind blow through the roof and along the window outside as it pushed the rain at an angle. The instructor whistled.
“That’s some nasty weather,” he muttered. When you didn’t respond in agreement, he looked back to you. He sat straighter when he saw you covering your ears with your palms. “Y/n?” He called as you seemed to remember where you were as you lowered your hands immediately and placed them back on your lap. You crossed your legs, bouncing one of them as the rain continued to hit the building and window and the thunder continued to roll.
It was impossible for Hoseok not to see how jittery the weather got you. He slowly scooched closer to your side after reaching for the previous mentioned granola snack he had with him. He offers it to you, hoping to ease you. You accept it, taking anything to keep your mind off the weather blaring outside like sirens in your head.
“Not a storm lover, eh?” He asked, but as lightly as he could. He asked in the same way someone would cover a child with a satin blanket. It was soft and comforting the way he spoke. You shook your head as you bit into the grainy snack. “I don’t mind them so much, but I guess some people really can’t stand storms.”
“‘Can’t help it,” you mumbled after you swallowed a bite. “I’ve been scared of them since I was little and just never outgrew it.”
Hoseok was soon rubbing your back as he sat next to you. You jumped every time thunder sounded and closed your eyes with a small yelp each time you caught a glimpse of lightning. Luckily enough the storm didn’t have nearly the strength to blow out the power, so he wouldn’t need to comfort you in a black out at the very least.
He was sitting beside you for nearly half an hour before he finally thought of something to keep your mind off the storm.
“Y/n, dance with me,” he pitched into the empty room as he continued to rub your back. You shot your head up to look at him, cheeks hot and mouth open in a small ‘huh?’. He just chuckled. “We’re stuck in here anyways, so let’s dance to pass the time!” He told you he was already spinning to his feet before he grabbed your hands and started pulling you up and out of your cross-legged position.
“You can’t be serious!” You squealed as he got you standing. He ran over to the stereo system and hooked his phone up to it before setting a playlist. Soon, music started pulsing through the speakers as you felt the vibrations of the bass through the floor into your bare feet after long abandoning your shoes and socks.
He danced back to you as he grabbed your hands and started dragging you around as he laughed. “Come on! It’ll be fun!” Pretty soon, he was twirling you around every which way he could before he actually started to properly dance. You were reverting back to your dance brain as you started properly doing footwork and taking correct stances.
What started as goofing off to keep your mind off the storm turned into a private study with Hoseok watching your practice the very dance that kept you here in the first place this evening. He had turned on the song assigned to you and the small group of people who were assigned the same thing as it looped over and over again.
Drill after drill with different steps of advice and stance correction was more fun with Hoseok than you thought possible. He would push on your back to fix your stance or twist your calf when you stepped so you wouldn’t trip. He showed you how to dance certain parts as you mirrored him.
You both watched the reflections of yourselves dancing the same quick footwork number side by side over and over again. And each new drill came with bigger smiles and louder laughing. You had actually forgotten about the storm outside over the sound of the music and Hoseok’s laughter.
The storm had subsided well after midnight and you finally fell to the floor, ready for something close to a hardwood nap at nearly three am. Hoseok fell next to you, still in a fit of giggles as you just breathed heavily.
“I don't know if I’ve danced that much ever,” you panted as Hoseok rolled from his back to his stomach to look at you on your back staring at the ceiling. He rested his chin over his crossed arms on the floor as he looked at the side of your face. He finally looked at him, feeling his stares and flinched when you looked into his eyes. You couldn't bring yourself to look away now. “Hoseok?”
He smiled unconsciously bright at your casual calling. “You sound pretty saying my name,” he told you, making your face flush. “You looked even prettier when you blush too,” he teased, kicking his feet up behind him like a five-year-old. You turned your head away from him finally as you looked back to the ceiling, not able to hide your red cheeks as he just kept admiring them. “Hey, Y/n?” He called to which you just hummed, not trusting your voice. “Wanna go get some coffee in the morning with me?”
You whipped your head back to look at him, seeing his smug smile on his head due to your deepening flushed skin. You felt like you were on the brink of sweating, you were so flushed.
“I- uh, huh?”
“When we get freed from the practice room, let’s get coffee. I’ll cancel class so we can. I don’t want to have class after being locked in here all night anyway.”
“I work in the afternoon though,” you lamely told him. He just smiled away, unable to bring himself to feel upset about anything.
“Then I’ll drop you off before work and then pick you up to take you home when you're done.”
“That sounds like you’re trying to flirt with me.”
“Y/n, I’m asking you on a date. Of course I’m flirting.” He deadpanned with a smirk as you shot up from laying down to sitting up. You looked down at him laying on his stomach, that small smirk still painted on his lips as you turned away from him.
“Well, I guess if you’re asking me,” you muttered. “I suppose I could go for some coffee,” you finished. Hoseok had to suppress even more chuckles and teases at the sight of your smile he saw in the reflection of the studio’s mirrors when you accepted his offer.
“Well then, I guess you better get to sleep. We’ve got a date in the morning,” he chided as he shot up to his knees and palms, moved closer to just barely get into your line of sight to wink you. He crawled to his bag he used as a pillow as you lay across the room from him doing the same.
How could you possibly get to sleep now? It didn’t matter, you reasoned; as you’d have coffee later to wake you up.

“she acts like summer and walks like rain”
The power goes out. What are three things that you have taken for granted? I mean, it depends how long it goes out for. I’ve only experienced that for a couple hours at most from what I can recall, so. Although, the worst to me is when it happens for any length of time during the summer because it instantly feels like a sauna in my house and it’s absolutely miserable. D: It happened a few times this past summer during a heat wave with triple digit temps... not fun. But yeah, that’s the only thing that really bothers me from my experience. I just mess around on my phone, play Animal Crossing, read, or just chill with the fam. My dad acts like it’s the end of the world lol like a couple minutes in he’s like, “what are we going to do for food?? I think we might have to get a hotel or something, we can’t stay here with no power.” lol.
Have you ever done the Polar Bear plunge on New Years? I’ve never done it and never would. Nooo thanks. I don’t swim or get into the ocean, lake, or river for one, for two, diving into freezing cold temperatures sounds horrific. It’d probably shock my body and kill me.
Name lyrics that include the word "baby" in them. “Oh baby, you got what I need, but you say I’m just a friend.”
You get to choose your middle name! It must begin with the letter H. Nah.
Have you ever had a Halloween party? Yeah. I had one when I was in like 2nd grade and invited kids from my class over. I had a few smaller, more just like hangouts, with my cousins or friend as well. The most recent was like 4 years ago. I’ve been to more Halloween parties than I’ve thrown, though.
Would you rather have a plant cactus or venus flytrap? A cactus.
Are you better at crosswords or word searches? I love word searches.
Would you rather have a water balloon fight or a paint ball fight? I’ve only had water balloon fights, back when I was a kid. I wouldn’t want to have either one now. Running around and getting hit with stuff just doesn’t sound fun. I don’t have the energy for all that. Also paint ball fights sound especially painful.
Do you like being told what to do? In some cases I might need a little push or can’t decide on something so I’ll sometimes ask someone what I should do. Doesn’t mean I’ll listen, but it can be helpful. I don’t like when someone tells me what to do as a command. I’m super stubborn, so being told to do something just makes me not want to do said thing even more, even if I already planned on doing it.
What would you do if you were attacked by thugs? If I was attacked by anyone I wouldn’t be able to do a whole lot.
Do you have a favorite word? I can never think of one on the spot when asked.
On what circumstances would you break up with someone? If they cheated on me I might, but I can’t say for sure. It would depend on a few things. I’d also like to think I would if there was abuse. I feel like I would, but I’ve never been in that situation and I know it’s not always that simple.
Have you ever been kicked out of a store? No.
What's your worst subject? Math was always my worst subject.
What are 3 things that make you happy? God, my family (including my doggo), and vacations.
“baby, let me be your last first kiss”
Have you ever been pampered? I get my hair done fairly regularly (not so much now... I can blame covid this year, but let’s be real the past few years I started slacking).
Are you going to force your kids to be in activity or let them choose? I don’t want to have kids; however, IF I did, I wouldn’t force them to. I would certainly encourage and support, but it’d be their decision. If they didn’t enjoy it, I wouldn’t push it. It should be enjoyable for them, not torture.
Do you watch Toddler and Tiaras? Nah, I never got into that.
What was the last band t-shirt you bought? Nirvana.
If someone asked you to go to war today, what would you say? Uh, no???
Are you passionate? I feel like I haven’t been passionate in years. Like, even things I like I don’t get as excited about like I used to. I just feel unmotivated and deflated.
Do you usually get nervous before taking a test? Always. I had major test anxiety.
True or false : Your middle name begins with the letter J False.
Are you more comfortable in public or in your house? Most definitely in my house. This is my safe, comfortable place where I’m not judged. My self-esteem has always been crap, but these past few years it’s been even worse. I’m very self-conscious. I also just don’t like being around a lot of people.
Do you own an old vintage typewriter? No.
Do you hate how dogs bark every time someone comes to your house? No, I want my doggo to do that. She’s not excessive about it, though. And she’s not a little yappy dog that barks when an ant walks by lol. My neighbor’s dogs bark a lot, feels like it goes on forever and it’s annoying.
What's a commercial that you cannot stand? I don’t pay much attention to commercials.
Mountain Dew or Dr. Pepper? Dr. Pepper.
Do you say "mate?" like Hello, mate! No.
What makes you rate a survey? I don’t rate them. I decide if I’m going to take a survey by skimming over the first few questions and seeing if they’re of interest to me and if I’ve already done it before (well, at least to see if I’ve done it recently).
“I can’t explain loneliness”
Do you drink Mountain Dew? I haven’t had it in probably like 10 years. I used to love the red and blue one. Oh, and I liked the AMP energy drinks Mountain Dew used to(?) have.
How many weddings have you been to? Three.
When you smile, are you confident? No.
Have you ever not done something because you were afraid of getting in trouble? Yeah.
Was the weather beautiful today? It’s finally been feeling like fall, which I love.
Do you have to have a fan on when you sleep? Yes. During the hot months I have 3 going at all times in my room. I still have 2 of them going even though I’ve been needing a blanket now. I love it, though. If I turned them off I know I’d get warm again. I’d love to have it be cold and need a blanket year round. Would you rather have an orange, red or gray bedroom? Out of those, I guess gray.
Would you ever dye part of your hair blue? No. I dye my hair red and I just want to keep it that color.
Have you ever gone to a private school? My UC is.
Is Finding Nemo a favorite movie of yours? No, but it’s cute.
Does/Did your school have a uniform? My preschool did. Turn on the TV. What channel are you on? It is on, it’s on MTV.
Does your house have security cameras? Yes.
What's your favorite Another Cinderella Story? The one with Hilary Duff.
Does a popsicle sound good right now? No. I’m not a popsicle kind of gal.
“0 of your friends are online - yup, I feel like a loser.”
Do you drink more water or juice? Definitely water. I don’t like juice, so I never drink it.
Sweater weather or tank top weather? Which do you prefer. Tank top weather all the way, no competition. I hate summer. I also don’t wear tank tops.
Do you always carry a purse with you? Not lately. The other day was the first time I had one, well it was my Baby Yoda mini backpack, in several months.
Do you update your Facebook relationship status when it changes? It’s never changed since making my Facebook in 2008 :X Joseph and I had our thing, but it wasn’t an official relationship. If I were to get in a relationship I wouldn’t rush to make it Facebook official cause who cares, like that wouldn’t be my first thought, but I could decide to change it at some point. Ha, maybe I would do it right away cause it’d be so surprising and shocking that I’d have to share it with everyone lmao.
Have you ever kissed a Zachary? Nope.
Do you hate when people try to embarrass you? Uh, being embarrassed certainly isn’t fun... I wouldn’t want someone to purposely try and embarrass me. Do you like in October when a bunch of haunted places open up? I like October for many Halloween-related reasons, but not for ghost walks or haunted houses - those aren’t really my thing. <<< Same, I don’t do all that.
Did you tell someone you loved them today? No.
Do you watch the show Ghost Adventures? I’ve never heard of it before. I’ve heard of Ghost Hunters - my father enjoys that show. <<< Ha, my dad really likes one of those as well; I forget which one. I’ve never gotten into shows like, though.
When it's dark, do you always tell someone to drive safe? No.
Are you love sick? No.
Do you want your own house someday? My family and I do. We’ve only ever rented.
What color are your curtains in your bedroom? Dark blue.
Are you superstitious? I do the knock on wood thing, but I think it’s just habit now.
Is there a cat in the room you're in right now? No, I don’t have a cat.
“it only takes a second to fall in love”
Have you ever read the book The Guardian by Nicholas Sparks? Nope.
Have your parents ever said you're ruining your life by dating someone? No.
Are you excited for anything? I’m looking forward to starting my Christmas shopping.
True or false : It's past 9:22 PM True, it’s 2:43AM.
Do you hate when artist change their music? No, not necessarily. It can be cool to see them try different genres. Does your house have a doorbell? Yep.
Would you ever name your car? *shrug*
What's worse : Two-faced people or fake people? Isn’t that the same thing?
Are you wearing a necklace? No. I haven’t worn a necklace in years.
Have you ever saved someone's life? No. Do you hate when your makeup smears? I always hated how my eyeliner smudged in the corners. I say “hated”, past tense, because I haven’t worn any makeup at all in like 3 years.
Are you good at giving advice? I think I kinda used to be, but not now. I was the one friends always came to. I used to also participate on teen message boards when I was like 12-14 and tried to offer advice and resources to people when I could. Sometimes I IMed with people who needed advice, too. That’s when I knew I wanted to help people in some way and it was in high school when I discovered what psychology/ a psychologist was. I majored and got my BA in it, too... now it’s just collecting dust and I don’t want to purse it anymore....
Have you gotten into any fights within the past week? No.
How often do you go to the kitchen? I don’t know.... probably like a handful of times.

You can dye your hair red or neon green. You pick? I already dye it red.
How many Juliet's do you know? I don’t know any.
What's your current mood? I don’t feel well.
What time is it? 2:55AM. Do you own any colored pants? No.

How tall are you? 5′4.
“Right now, I just wish you were here.”
Would you ever try a workout video? Or have you? Maybe a fun dance one if it involved a lot of arm movements that I could do. Do you like your ice cream in a cup or cone? It’s gotta be a cup or waffle bowl for me cause I take too long to finish my ice cream and it gets super messy otherwise.
Are fireworks your favorite things ever? I like how pretty they are, but I definitely don’t enjoy the sound that they make. <<< Ugh, saaaame. I hate the sound.
Is your cat orange? As I’ve said, I don’t have a cat.
Is anything in the room your in striped? My Adidas have 3 stripes on both sides.
What song do you hear playing? I’m not listening to music.
Have you ever found a four leaf clover? Yeah. Back in elementary school we used to hunt for ‘em on St. Patrick’s Day.
Do you think you've been in love? I believe so. Twice.
Have you ever read Romeo and Juliet? In the 9th grade, we were required to in English class. <<< Yep.
Were you ever in the plays in school? No.
Whose eyes do you have? Pretty sure they’re my own. Haaaa. My eyes are the same color as my mom’s.
When was the last time you bought a pair of new shoes? I haven’t bought my own in a long time. I often get a new pair for my birthday and/or Christmas from my parents, usually my dad. He’s a total shoe guy, so he likes to buy shoes quite a bit for himself and as gifts for my family and I.
How many gray shirts do you have? I don’t know; a few.
Have you ever cried because you missed someone so much? Yes. Especially after the death of loved ones.
Do you hate waiting for things? I’m very impatient. Waiting makes me nervous and anxious.

madeira day 2!
i have a house! honestly im not lovin the green roof, i wish id known what color the door was gonna be before i picked it 😔 im sure i can change it later tho so i’ll just have 2 hold out for it
i donated a shit ton of stuff to blathers and my museum is opening soon (hopefully tmrrw cuz i have SO MUCH i need 2 donate and the area behind my plaza is a nightmare lol)
i got the pocket expansion, the pro custom designer (see: new sweater from the pre generated designs!!), and the upgraded tools! and i unlocked and funded the nook shop (i think it’s timmy who’s in charge of that? i can’t tell them apart lol but i like that one is the shopkeeper and one is like wandering the island for questions n stuff... we love character development)
things r goin good w my fellow islanders! charlise checked in w me and it made me cry and antonio said smth rly cute abt germs and i was like... sir in these times i wish it were that easy but i appreciate the sentiment. also i wrote both of them letters so we’ll see what happens!
im not sure where Norma is?? i invited her to madeira yesterday and I totally thought she’d be there but she was nowhere to be found and i haven’t heard anything from her. idk i hope she arrives soon 🥺
i got a shovel and a vaulting pole and explored around a lot! and i planted some stuff including a bell tree!! also i bought a slingshot and knocked down some cool stuff so I’ve almost paid off the first house loan, i think i have like 20k ish left so that’s rly cool
sir legend gulliver washed up on my island today and then he got left on read..... real king shit 😌☝️ every time i checked in on him his shipmates still hadn’t responded and it stormed for a few hours later in the day and I felt so bad for him omg but hopefully he’ll find his way home soon! otherwise i’ll pitch a tent 4 him so he can live somewhere he’s rly appreciated :”~)
i did two mystery island tours, one with a ticket tom nook just like. Gave me for free for some reason and one with a ticket I bought myself!! i met tucker the first time and curve-flattening icon raddles the second but i didn’t invite either 2 my island rip.... i feel bad but their aesthetics just don’t rly speak 2 me (and also i have tucker in corambo (my acnl town) rn and i wanna try n have diff islanders w me maybe)! i forgot to take screenshots of tucker cuz i was rly sleepy (i took a random 3 hr nap today idk what happened) but yeah i did get raddles As U Can See
Also idk what to think abt my plane name theory!!! Wilbur referred to the plane as “soaring rose” on the trip where i met tucker and “soaring hyacinth” on the one where i met raddles so idk. I guess it’ll b different every time?? or dodo airlines has like a fleet or smth? but i like it!
yesterday i was like crazy confident going fishing even tho my mental health was honestly In Tha Pits and today i was feeling better but somehow i had more anxiety abt catching fish and. 2 make a long story short i fucking broke my 52x streak for that one nook miles challenge thing and i will never forgive myself. also i tried catching wasps twice and... got stung instead twice LMAO and also i chickened out of going after a t*rantula and it just scuttled off and disappeared. queen of ruining my own life 😌
i caught an oarfish!!! it’s like a tiny thing i guess but it just made me rly happy cuz i wasn’t expecting it at all, the fish shadow size looked rly normal so i was pleasantly surprised by that hehe!
idk how to get a ladder but i rly hope i can soon! also im getting kinda antsy cuz the main part of my island is running out of space for new amenities and im rly hesitant to cut down trees / pull weeds bc it all looks so pretty but i might have to soon bc I don’t think islanders can access the upper layers or diff sections of the island and i dont want to put someone in a place where no one else can get 2 it 😔 like i need bridges and stuff and it’s stressing me out!!!!
i forgot to post this yesterday but heres the map of madeira.... the madeira map if u will. and also my passport as of tonight!
#idk why i made it say animal animal i just thought it was funny JKFJSKDJDJ i woulda done full fledged clown but i saw other ppl w it and i#wanted 2 b Original.... we’ll see how long i keep it#animalese#nh#acnh#acnhdiarychallenge#animal crossing new horizons#animal crossing

My Youth (Chapter 8)
Broken and miserable, Park Jinyoung returns to his hometown to learn that no matter how hard he falls, there are still people who think he’s a hero.
Warnings: Angst, slow build, maybe some language. (Please don’t ask when I’ll update. Wait until the series is finished to read if you’re impatient.) Also, cutiepie Jaebum in this chapter is dedicated to @dearbeommie cause she’s the only one who mentioned him last chapter lmao.
Word Count: 6k+
(Can’t put links to the other parts here, please check my Masterlist/the reblog for the Prologue and Chapters 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6)
“Hey! Did you fill out that career-option form?”
You glanced at your classmate and nodded. “Yeah. I filled it in but I forgot to get my Mom to sign it, so I guess I’ll turn it in tomorrow. Are you guys done with yours?”
The other girl sighed. “I don’t even know what to put down as my career aspirations. How are you sure about what you want to do?”
You smiled. “I’ve been thinking about it for a long time now. I just need to talk to the teacher about what universities I should apply to and what entrance exams I should prepare for.”
“Lucky. I guess I’ll see you tomorrow?”
You waved goodbye to her before bouncing over to Park Jinyoung’s desk. He had his head buried in a textbook and was scribbling rapidly; ever since the final year of high school had begun, Jinyoung was never seen without his nose in some study material.
“Let me guess. Going to stay back late and study in the library again?” you asked him.
Jinyoung barely looked at you. His head stayed buried in the book and you could barely see his face. “I’ve almost solved this one. Don’t interrupt me.”
You sighed. “Okay, I’m going home then. Bye!”
Jinyoung let out a dismissive grunt and you playfully smacked his head over his dark, messy hair. He flinched and glared at you but you quickly ran out of the classroom. Riling up Jinyoung when he was trying to focus never got old. You walked home happily before you suddenly remembered the career options form. You couldn’t forget to get it signed today. You took it out of your bag just as you entered the apartment.
“Mom!” you called out. She wasn’t working in the afternoon so you assumed she’d be home. You could hear her voice coming from the kitchen; she was on the phone. You fell silent to avoid interrupting the phone call.
“I know,” your mother was saying. She sounded agitated. “I’m just terrified of what she’ll say. What if she wants to study in Seoul? What if she wants to go to law school or study science? How am I going to afford to pay for all that? I’ve already taken out so many loans…”
You froze. This didn’t seem like a conversation your mother would want you to hear. You stepped back and quickly hid behind the doorway.
Your mother paused and then sighed. “I know… I know she’s a clever girl. But even if she gets a scholarship for her tuition, the living costs in Seoul itself are too much for me to bear. You know how long you and Mr. Park have been saving up for Jinyoung's studies…”
There was another brief pause as Mrs. Park responded. Your mother sounded even more upset. “I can’t tell her that! How could I look her in the eye and tell her that I don’t have the money to give her the same opportunity as all her classmates? How could I call myself her mother? I’ll do something. I’ll work more hours, I’ll find a way to get another loan…”
Your eyes widened. No. You couldn’t make your mother work more. You looked down at the career form in your hand. ‘I want to be a pediatrician!’ you had written foolishly. That meant years of medical school in Seoul, then years of residency at a large university hospital… how would you pay for all that? With your mother’s sweat and tears?
You crumpled the paper up and took a deep breath. Plastering a smile onto your face, you stepped into the kitchen.
“Mom! I’m home, what’s for dinner?” you asked cheerfully.
--------------------
“Drink more, Yugyeom-ssi. You don’t have to worry; I’m buying tonight!”
Yugyeom looked nervously at all the top-shelf liquor that Jaebum had ordered. Even the bartender was surprised; he had never sold so much expensive wine and whisky in this small town before. But Jaebum had ordered multiple bottles in the very first round.
Yugyeom glanced at you doubtfully as if to ask, is this okay, noona? You gave him a small nod and a reassuring smile. He shrugged and then reached for the whisky without hesitation. After he took his first shot and received a friendly slap on the back from Jaebum, he appeared to loosen up a little. Jaebum smiled at him.
“So, what’s it like being a cop? Must be an interesting job.”
Yugyeom flushed and rubbed the back of his neck. “Uh, not so much. We don’t get a lot of crime around here aside from the occasional bar fight or neighbourly quarrels. That’s why I was really excited when I heard Jinyoung-hyung was back!” Yugyeom perked up and beamed at Jinyoung. “I requested specifically to be given this assignment! I told the Chief you might be more comfortable with me since we went to high school together.”
Jinyoung took a sip of his wine nonchalantly. “Huh.”
Jaebum grinned. “What was Jinyoung like back in high school? Was he as uptight as he is now?”
Yugyeom glanced at Jinyoung nervously. “Uh… I guess he was always really focused on his studies? Sometimes he was nice to me and sometimes he wasn’t, so I could never really figure out what he was thinking,” he admitted sheepishly. “But he was really cool. One time he helped me with my math homework!”
You glanced at Jinyoung and noticed that he looked a little disgruntled. He had put on one of the new sweaters you bought him before coming out to the pub. It wasn’t the boyfriend sweater, but it was still a rather nice light blue one that made him look handsome. You nudged him and he raised an eyebrow at you.
“Not having fun?” you joked.
Jinyoung forced a smile. “Oh no, I’m having a great time,” he muttered.
You glanced down at your phone when it buzzed. “Oh, speaking of high school, I got a few messages from Jackson. I told him where we are, so he’s on his way down here to join us. Is that okay?”
Jinyoung’s eyes widened. “What? No! Why would you invite Jackson Wang down here?”
“Should I not have?”
Jinyoung closed his eyes in annoyance. The last thing he wanted was for Jackson Wang to come down here and run his big mouth. The man had a penchant for creating trouble wherever he went. But you seemed confused, and Jinyoung couldn’t think of a solid reason why Jackson Wang shouldn’t join their little drinking party.
“Tell him not to come, he’ll just start making a fuss. He could never handle his alcohol back when I knew him.”
“Too late, he’s almost here,” you replied simply. You turned to Jaebum in an attempt to change the subject of conversation. “Tell us more about this girlfriend you’re going to Europe with tomorrow. Have you been together long?”
A soft smile spread across Jaebum’s face and he looked a little flustered. Even the thought of his girlfriend seemed to make him happy. “Ah… yeah, she’s pretty awesome. She’s an accountant. I met her a couple of years ago. I guess I have Jinyoung to thank for that.”
Jinyoung coughed uncomfortably. “It’s not like I introduced her to you.”
“It was during the earlier years of the company. She’d come in for a job interview. I’m not sure what Jinyoung said to her, but she emerged from his office a sobbing mess. I ran into her in the lobby and told her how she’d dodged a bullet since Jinyoung was a shitty boss anyway,” Jaebum said with a cheeky grin.
You smiled. You’d never wondered what sort of a boss Jinyoung would be. Now that you thought about it, he had surely been a demanding perfectionist. “I assume that she didn’t get hired?”
Jinyoung rolled his eyes. “Her resume was a shabby mess, you should have seen it. If you must know, she actually thanked me the next time we met. The constructive criticism I gave her helped her land a different job.”
Jaebum chuckled. “And the emotional trauma led her to me. Thanks for the assist, boss.”
“You’re welcome.”
“Actually, I’m thinking of proposing to her. I was wondering if I should be cheesy and do it in Paris,” Jaebum admitted with a shy smile. “She dropped a hint about having to make a move on if we wanted to have kids and I figure since I don’t even have a job right now, I have all the time in the world to plan a wedding.”
Yugyeom’s eyes widened. “Wow… proposing in Paris! That sounds so cool,” he said wistfully.
Jaebum leaned back coolly. “Have you thought about getting married, Yugyeom?”
Yugyeom blushed and bowed his head. “I don’t even have a girlfriend. I don’t think a lot of girls want to settle down with a small town cop. Girls usually want to go live in the city with guys that have a nice career. That’s why my ex dumped me…”
Jinyoung blinked. “That’s not true. Plenty of girls want to stay in small towns. Right?”
You were silent until you realized Jinyoung was looking at you for an answer. You shifted uncomfortably. Did he mean to say that you were a girl who had wanted to stay in your small town? You forced a smile and nodded awkwardly.
“Uh… yeah. Yeah, there are plenty of girls who don’t care for Seoul. I’ll introduce you to someone soon, Yugyeom. Don’t worry.”
Yugyeom smiled. “Thanks, noona.”
You turned to Jinyoung. “Why haven’t you gotten married yet? I’m sure there must have been plenty of girls who were dying to get their hands on an eligible bachelor like you. You must have had plenty of offers.”
He looked startled at your question. Before Jinyoung could compose himself, Jaebum responded.
“Jinyoung mostly dated casually. But he did get pretty close to an engagement once!”
You blinked in surprise. “Did he?”
“There was a really pretty chaebol heiress who set her sights on him two or three years ago. She took Jinyoung home to meet her parents and everything. Everybody thought it would be a good idea for a self-made guy like him to marry into a family of money,” Jaebum pointed out. “But Jinyoung dumped her before the engagement could be finalised.”
You felt your stomach flip. Had he really gotten that close? You had assumed that adult Jinyoung would be just as uninterested in women and relationships as teenage Jinyoung had been, but you realized now that had been foolish. He was nearly 30 and there was no way he hadn’t thought about marriage. Any rich family would be delighted to take Jinyoung in as a son-in-law. He had everything. Looks, manner, grace and until recently, even success.
“Why did you dump her?” you asked.
Jinyoung shifted uncomfortably. “I mean… it would have been a marriage of convenience and status. But I realized that her father expected me to dissolve my company and work for him. So I cut it off.”
“Oh,” you muttered, looking down at your hands. You weren’t sure why this made your stomach turn. So he would have married her if her father hadn’t gotten involved? “I guess this was one of those things you sacrificed for your company, then.”
Jinyoung looked at you sharply, his dark eyes piercing into yours. “No,” he said firmly. “This was something I sacrificed for my dignity. She expected me to comply with whatever he father wanted. I realized this family would eventually strip me of my independence.”
Jaebum scoffed. “Most men would have gladly given up a little independence to join a family like that.”
Jinyoung glared at him. “Then maybe you should have married her.”
“All right, relax.”
“Besides,” Jinyoung added with a frown. “I wasn’t sure if my parents would be able to deal with being in-laws to a family like that. Those chaebols lived in a lot of luxury and… well, they didn’t really respect people who didn’t. It would have been hard on my mother.”
Jaebum sighed. “I guess that part is true. Gotta keep your mother happy most of all, right? Mine even gave me the family ring to propose to my gifriend. Want to see?”
Yugyeom perked up. “I do! Is it expensive?”
“It’s really old, it’s been in my family for decades…”
Jaebum pulled out the engagement ring and Yugyeom began to fawn over it. You couldn’t bring yourself to pay attention. Your stomach was churning and you felt sick. What had you been expecting? That Jinyoung had been living a dull, bland life like you until now?
Ten years was a long time. Jinyoung had probably dated so many women, seen so many countries and experienced so many things. What was this town to him in his enormous world? A small dot that wasn’t even visible on a map? A distant memory that he thought of every now and then?
You looked at Jinyoung seated next to you. He was right there, soft hands gently wrapped around his wine glass as he looked at Jaebum’s ring with mild interest. His dark hair flopped into his face and his soft lips were stained with the cheap wine.
Jinyoung was right there. Less than a foot away from you.
So why did he suddenly seem so far away?
You were struck with the feeling that you’d missed out on so much. Like a child who has been left behind while all his friends go out to play, you felt alone and lost. You looked at Jinyoung and wondered exactly what else he’d done in the last ten years, exactly what had made him the person he was now.
You didn’t know any of that.
“Should we order more-”
“Hey guys! Sorry I’m late!” Jackson Wang boomed. He entered the pub noisily, just as he did almost everything else. He gave you a cheerful grin and turned to shake hands heartily with everyone at the table.
“Thanks for calling me over, Miss First Grade. And Officer Yugyeom! I haven’t seen you in a while, how are things down at the station? Don’t think that I haven’t noticed you’ve been avoiding me, Park Jinyoung. Oh... I don’t think we’ve met before. I’m Jackson Wang.”
Jaebum shook hands with him, bemused. “So I’ve heard. I’m Jinyoung’s friend, Im Jaebum.”
“Why wasn’t I invited to this little gathering?” Jackson demanded as he poured himself a glass of whisky.
Jinyoung frowned. “Does it matter? You managed to turn up anyway.”
“Sorry if I go a little heavy on the liquor tonight,” Jackson apologized before he promptly downed the entire glass. “I haven’t been able to touch any alcohol lately. My wife is pregnant and the smell makes her nauseous so now I’m not allowed to drink any either. She went to bed early tonight, though, so she won’t know a thing.”
You slowly tugged the glass away from Jackson. He seemed a little too optimistic for his own good. “She’ll be furious if you stumble back home drunk in the middle of the night,” you pointed out. Jackson frowned and sighed.
“Okay, fine. What were you folks talking about before I arrived?” he demanded.
Yugyeom piped up. “Jaebum-ssi was just showing us his engagement ring!”
Jackson leaned over the table to get a good look. The ring was certainly beautiful; it had a rather antique charm to it. “Wow. That’s amazing. I wish I could have afforded something like that when I proposed to Aeri. We had to get married in the local church.”
You smiled at Jackson warmly. “Your wedding was beautiful.”
Jackson grinned. “Yeah, it was, wasn’t it?” He turned to Jinyoung and elbowed him sharply. “I sent you an invite, you jerk. You never even responded. I would have asked you to be my Best Man if you’d been around. You’re the one who helped me and Aeri get together, after all.”
Jaebum raised an eyebrow in amusement. “Jinyoung helped you? Did he by any chance make your wife cry too?”
Jackson blinked. “What? No. He helped me confess my feelings to her over Christmas!”
You raised an eyebrow. You hadn’t heard this story before. Aeri had told you plenty of times that Jackson had asked her to be his girlfriend on the Christmas Eve after graduation, but you had no idea what Jinyoung had to do with that.
You glanced at Jinyoung. His face had turned pink. He reached over and grabbed Jackson’s sleeve.
“Jackson, maybe we don’t need to-”
“I was super nervous about confessing to Aeri. We’d been flirting around for a long time but I didn’t know if it was serious, you know? When Jinyoung came home from uni for Christmas, I really wanted to ask for his advice but it was hard to get him alone,” Jackson explained, ignoring Jinyoung’s panicked expression. “I finally told him about it during the Christmas Eve party at his house.”
Jaebum leaned forward eagerly. “Oh?”
Jinyoung took a deep breath. “Jackson, please don’t tell this story-”
Jackson ignored him and let out a delighted laugh. “Anyway, turns out this guy is working up the courage to confess to the girl he likes too! He coolly reached into his pocket and pulled out a handful of mistletoe,” Jackson roared. “And he handed me half and told me to go for it! He said to just hold up the mistletoe over Aeri and ask her to kiss me because he was planning on doing it too!”
You stared at Jinyoung, shocked. What? Jinyoung, carrying around mistletoe? Jinyoung, confessing to someone he liked over that Christmas break? Why did all of this sound completely new to you? If Jinyoung had truly liked someone then wouldn’t he have told you about it before telling his loudmouth classmate Jackson Wang?
“But-”
Jackson wasn’t done. “Anyway, I was still nervous so I decided to wait around until he came back. Jinyoung had gotten rejected but he didn’t even tell me, he just gave me another pep talk until I finally went up to Aeri with the mistletoe. He even kept watch near the park to make sure nobody would run into us!”
“Rejected?” you demanded, looking at Jinyoung. He was avoiding your gaze. “Who rejected Jinyoung?”
Jackson blinked at you.
“What a stupid question. You did.”
There was a long, awkward silence. Jinyoung suddenly stood up, his chair scraping back loudly in the pub. He took a shuddering breath and then stormed off towards the bathrooms, leaving the rest of the group in silence. You stared after him numbly and then looked at Jackson.
“You mean…”
Jackson nodded. “Come on. Jinyoung was crazy about you back then. He said that going to uni made him realize how much he really cared about you and that he was going to make you his girlfriend no matter what. You didn’t know that?”
Your throat closed up.
“No,” you whispered. “No, I didn’t.”
------------------------------------------------------
“Sweetheart, are you sure you don’t want to give the college entrance exams another try next year? Maybe you could go to law school, or even study engineering...”
You glanced at your mother while you shifted the cookies into a large box for the party later that evening. She had been catching on to your well-kept secret; she knew that you weren’t happy at the local college. The faculty was poor and classes were dull and unchallenging. The only advantage the university offered was that it was cheap, and that you could afford to attend while living at home.
But your mother couldn’t know that.
Your mother couldn’t know that you were unhappy.
“That just sounds like such a pain, Mom,” you told her lightly. It was getting harder and harder to come to terms with the fact that all your friends had left to do fancy degrees in Seoul while you were still here. But you knew hearing that would break your mother’s heart. You couldn’t make her work for your education. It wasn’t worth it. “Why would I want to give the entrance exams again? I’ll just pass the teaching certification course and then I can get a job teaching. The elementary school here always has vacancies.”
Your mother sighed. “Of course it had vacancies, but is that what you want? We could always take out a loan if money is the problem-”
You frowned at her. “Did I tell you money is the problem?”
“No, but…”
“Then let’s not talk about this,” you replied. You smiled and showed her how you’d arranged the cookies in the shape of a little Christmas tree in the box. “Isn’t this pretty?”
Your mother smiled. “It’s lovely, dear.”
“I’m going to head over to the Parks’ with these,” you told her as you sealed the box. “Mrs. Park probably needs help setting up since the party is at their house, and I haven’t seen much of Jinyoung since he just came back. You’ll come later, right?”
She nodded. “Go ahead.”
You grabbed the cookie box and moved towards the front door. Your mother had been extremely persistent about convincing you to try and change to a college in Seoul, even though you both knew that you couldn't afford it. You had overheard her conversations with Mrs. Park and had even heard her asking Jinyoung if you were telling the truth about wanting to be an elementary school teacher.
You couldn’t even tell your best friend about your pipe dreams, in case he went and told your mother and upset her.
You took a deep breath and forced a smile. You could do this. It was okay. What was so bad about being a teacher? You’d get to interact with cute little kids and you wouldn’t have to work insane hours. It was probably for the best, right?
You sighed.
Oh, well. At least Jinyoung was back.
Maybe he’d have some interesting stories to tell about Seoul.
---------------------
When Jinyoung returned to the table, he looked a little more composed. He sat down and took a deep breath. Everyone stared at him. Your own heartbeat was thudding as you waited for an explanation. What was going on? Why did you and Jackson seem to have completely different ideas about what happened that Christmas Eve?
Jinyoung turned to blink at Jackson. “I, uh, I actually didn’t confess to her that night,” he admitted slowly and quietly. His words sounded strained and you hated that he wasn’t looking at you. Weren’t you the one who deserved an explanation? He sighed and kept his eyes on Jackson. “I lied. I chickened out and didn’t do it. I lied and told you I got rejected because I didn’t want you to chicken out too.”
Jackson stared at him. “Well, shit.”
“So you actually had feelings for me?” you blurted out.
Jinyoung glanced at you and turned his hands back down to his lap. His cheeks were pink and he was biting his wine-stained lips nervously. Then he looked up at you and nodded.
“Yeah. Yeah, I did,” he mumbled.
You struggled not to flush in embarrassment. How? How had you not known that your best friend had feelings for you? Had it been that night of the party? The night that Jinyoung suggested the two of you meet on the bridge? Your mind whirled as you tried to remember the events of that night. What had you discussed? How had you been so ignorant of his feelings?
Why didn’t he tell you the truth?
Why was your heartbeat thudding at the mere thought of Jinyoung asking you to be his girlfriend?
You cleared your throat and forced a smile. Jinyoung looked embarrassed. He evidently hadn’t wanted to talk about this and you could understand why. He had dated chaebol heiresses and beautiful models since high school. What kind of successful man would want to admit that he’d once had a crush on the girl next door?
His standards had been different then.
Jinyoung had been different then.
He was probably ashamed. You didn’t want to prolong his embarrassment even more. You simply reached out for your glass of wine and emptied it down your throat, before smiling around at the awkward expressions of everyone around you.
“Funny how things happen,” you mused lightly. “Does anyone want another drink?”
Yugyeom held out his glass and squeaked.
“Yes, please.”
----------------------------------------------
Jinyoung avoided your gaze for the rest of the night.
Jackson tried hard to liven up the mood again, albeit a little forcefully, and managed to get poor Yugyeom to divulge a few embarrassing stories about himself. The conversation flowed after that but Jinyoung sat silently and kept drinking. It was only when the pub began to close that you all trickled out onto the street. Jackson insisted on going home to his wife, leaving the rest of you to stumble back to the closest home: the Parks’.
After a brief whispered discussion it was agreed that Yugyeom would sleep on the couch. You would take the guest bedroom, and Jaebum would crash on the floor in Jinyoung’s room. You tiptoed up the stairs so as not to wake Mr. and Mrs. Park and then lied in the guest room.
You couldn’t sleep.
You should have slept like a baby after all that wine, but you kept thinking about Jinyoung. You kept thinking about how Jinyoung had wanted to confess to you. You kept thinking about the fact that at some point in time, he had wanted you to be his girlfriend.
You imagined Jinyoung holding a sprig of mistletoe above your head and leaning in to kiss you with his soft lips. You imagined hugging him in that warm sweater and cuddling into his chest. You imagined him whispering something sweetly into your ear and then kissing you until your lips were swollen. You imagined running your fingers through Jinyoung’s soft, dark hair.
Oh god.
You sat upright in bed and rubbed your eyes. You couldn’t do this. You couldn’t start picturing these things now. Jinyoung’s romantic interest in you had been a decade ago. He had dated so many women since then. He had even considered marrying one. Wasn’t this proof that his feelings were a small thing of the past? Just the passing crush of a hormonal, adolescent teenage boy whose best friend was a girl?
It was nothing. Why should it matter now?
It shouldn't. You wouldn’t let it.
You couldn’t.
You tried to sleep for almost an hour before you finally tiptoed downstairs. Yugyeom was mumbling under his breath and snoring intermittently on the couch so you snuck past him into the kitchen. The light was already on. Jinyoung was standing there in his slippers with a glass of water and he looked up at you, startled.
“Uh…”
Your heart skipped a beat at the sight of Jinyoung’s slightly dishevelled hair and his soft eyes. His cheeks were still flushed pink from all the drinking. He folded his arms across his chest and stared down at the floor to avoid your gaze.
“Couldn’t sleep either?” you asked him casually, trying to compose yourself. You reached for a glass from the shelf and slowly filled it with some water.
Jinyoung cleared his throat and nodded. “Uh, yeah. I forgot how badly Jaebum snores when he’s had too much to drink. Haven’t roomed with him since college,” he muttered.
“Are you going to keep avoiding me?”
Jinyoung looked startled. He swallowed and then shook his head quickly. His lips were pressed together. “I’m not avoiding you-”
“But you won’t even look at me.”
“I’m just…” Jinyoung sighed and dropped his arms to his sides. His shoulders slumped as he let out a dry chuckle. “I’m just embarrassed. Sorry.”
You nodded. “I’ll admit I was kind of caught off guard, but there’s nothing to be embarrassed about. I mean, we were teenagers back then. It wasn’t that serious. We had innocent crushes all the time, right? I even had a bit of a crush on Jackson when he joined the basketball team and got all buff,” you replied dismissively. Jinyoung merely stared at you. You couldn’t read the expression in his eyes.
“Right,” he said slowly. ”Except it wasn’t just a crush.”
You froze. “Huh?”
“I might as well tell you everything while the wine is still in my system,” Jinyoung replied with a frown. You were shocked when he stepped closer to you and looked you straight in the eyes. “I’ve liked you since high school. At first I kept quiet about it because it seemed so awkward and I didn’t think you’d take it well. I kept telling myself what you just said; that it was a passing crush because you were getting prettier day by day, and that it would fade in some time.”
“Oh,” you mumbled.
“But it didn’t. I tried dating other girls in college but nothing worked. Jaebum would take me out on group dates and I would just sit there feeling uncomfortable. I would sit there wishing I was with you. None of them could ever compete with you. If they were as smart as you, then they weren’t as kind-hearted. If they were as kind-hearted, then they weren’t as funny. If they were funny, then they weren’t as beautiful. It drove me crazy until I decided that I’d never find anyone like you. I made up my mind to confess my feelings to you over Christmas break. I wanted to make you mine.”
Your stomach exploded in butterflies. You had never imagined Jinyoung looking down at you like this, whispering these things to you in this dimly-lit kitchen. You swallowed and stared up at him nervously.
“What happened that Christmas Eve?” you whispered. “You’re not the type to chicken out.”
“I made a choice,” Jinyoung muttered.
“What choice?”
“I realized that I was being selfish. Even if you agreed to be my girlfriend, you didn’t want to go to Seoul,” Jinyoung muttered. “You wanted to stay here in this town. You wanted to get married and have kids and be a teacher and live a quiet life. You wanted to be with your mother. What was the point in asking you to be my girlfriend when our lives were headed in such different directions? I couldn’t give you what you wanted. I didn’t want to settle down in this small town. I was just starting to achieve bigger dreams.”
You felt weak. “Oh.”
Jinyoung took a deep, shuddering breath as he closed his eyes. “I didn’t want you to be a fling. I didn’t want you to be a long-distance relationship that fell apart eventually. I didn’t want to promise you forever and confess to you carelessly, while knowing there would be a time-limit for our relationship. What if things only got bitter between us? What if we began to resent each other for not compromising on our lifestyles? What if you had the chance to find a man who loved you and wanted the same life you wanted? I couldn’t be responsible for stopping you from finding him.”
You wrapped your arms around yourself quietly. “I see,” you whispered. “So you made a choice.”
Jinyoung nodded. “You know what I chose.”
“I do,” you replied. Your eyes filled with tears as you looked up at him. “You put your choice into effect pretty instantly, didn’t you, Jinyoung? That night was the last night you spoke to me for ten years.”
Jinyoung bit his lip. “It was too difficult for me-”
“It was pretty damn difficult for me, too.”
“I…” Jinyoung paused. His throat had closed up. “I’m sorry.”
You cleared your throat and wiped away your tears with the back of your sleeve quickly. You didn’t want Jinyoung to see you crying. You didn’t want him to know that you were mourning what you had lost; all those opportunities, all that time.
“Anyway,” you muttered quietly. “It was all in the past and you can’t possibly still have feelings for me after all these years, so it doesn’t matter-”
“Why do you think it’s not possible for me to still having feelings for you?”
You stared up at him with shocked wide eyes. “Do you?”
“You haven’t changed at all,” Jinyoung pointed out with a soft, wistful smile. “You’re still the same person.”
“But you’ve changed. A lot.”
Jinyoung looked at his feet and bit his lip nervously. His dark hair covered his eyes and when he looked up at you, it suddenly didn’t seem like he had changed. He was the same Park Jinyoung that you’d known all your life. Those were the same brown eyes and the same caring expression. Only now, he was making your heart leap.
“I guess I have changed a little,” Jinyoung admitted softly. “There are some things I would choose differently now, if I had the choice to choose again.”
“What does that mean?”
Jinyoung smiled wistfully.
“It means that if you ever see me carrying mistletoe around then this time, you don’t have to wonder who it’s for.”
----------------------------
“Jinyoung!” you greeted him happily as you watched him approaching. The Christmas Eve party was taking place at the Parks’ home but JInyoung had texted you to meet him by the bridge. His house was full of neighbours and you’d barely managed to get a word in with him all day. “Why did you want to meet out here?”
Jinyoung shrugged lightly. He was bundled up in his winter coat, hands stuck in his pockets. “Just because the house was so crowded and we couldn’t talk properly.”
You grinned. “Your Mother always has to throw a party on Christmas Eve.”
“And then she complains about how her back aches all of next day,” Jinyoung replied with a cheeky smile as he reached you. He turned towards the railing and looked down at the dark river flowing beneath the bridge. “I missed being here.”
You smiled. “You probably did. That’s why I never want to leave.”
Jinyoung raised an eyebrow. “Never? Come on. Your Mom told me earlier that she’s trying really hard to convince you to switch to a college in Seoul. You might be a year behind everyone else but it’s still worth it, right? Seoul is amazing. I could show you the Han River and the trains are amazing-”
You felt something stir in your stomach. You wanted to see what Jinyoung was talking about. You wanted so badly to go with him and study medicine, to become a doctor and help save lives. But that wasn't an option for you. It was better not to think about it.
“I’m okay. I’ve never been as ambitious as you, Jinyoung. I think I’ll settle down here.”
Jinyoung blinked. “Here?”
“Yeah. I like it here. I can be close to my Mom. I’ll become a local elementary school in a few years, and I’ll marry a nice man who won’t mind my mother living with us and I’ll have lots of cute kids,” you replied brightly. You turned to look at JInyoung and saw that he wasn’t smiling. You nudged him slightly. “What are you going to do? Marry some rich heiress and inherit her fortune?”
Jinyoung looked offended. “Hey. I’ll make my own fortune.”
You giggled. “Just a suggestion.”
“But I mean, you really…” Jinyoung took a deep breath and bit his lip. “You really don’t want to do anything more with your life? You know you’re smart. You don’t have to rush to get married. If you just studied at a better college then you could get a job in Seoul and you could live a much better life-”
“This is my better life,” you replied firmly. You couldn’t let yourself be carried away by fancies. “I don’t want anything else. This is what I genuinely want.”
“Really?” he whispered.
You laughed at him. “Why are you trying so hard to change my mind? If you think getting a job in Seoul and going to a prestigious college is so great, then do it yourself! We don’t have to agree on something like that. Everyone is different, Jinyoung.”
Jinyoung forced a smile. “I thought we were kind of similar.”
“Maybe not enough.”
Jinyoung shoved his hands in his pockets, fingers closing around the small sprig of mistletoe that was hidden deep inside. It suddenly seemed like a small and useless twig.
“Maybe not enough,” he echoed.

Do you have to wear a name badge where you work? I don’t work but some college buildings are stricter about IDs than others, yeah. Do you have a dress code or have to wear a uniform where you work? There is no dress code in UP, which is one of the reasons it’s the best (and top) school in the country. What brand is your toaster, if you have one? We don’t have one because we wouldn’t really use it if we got one. Have you ever dated a smoker? If not, would you? I guess I am dating one now. Gab started vaping recently and I hopped on the same train not long after. LOOOOOOOOOOL I am such a CLOWN Are there any movies you've seen so many times? Two for the goshdang Road. And the first Twilight movie. What was the last thing you purchased with cash? Pad thai and this iced drink called choco coffee at a Thai food stall in school. I don’t usually treat myself to that much food but it was my last day of school before the 5-day weekend started, I had just finished a brutal workout in PE, and I just felt like I deserved some kind of reward. Can you hear anything right now? The whirring of the electric fan across me. Is there anybody else in the room you're currently in? Nope, just me. What's the name of the store you usually get your groceries? We don’t have a permanent grocery but my mom would typically go to SM groceries or in a local grocery called Freshto that’s really near our village. Would you rather travel to Japan or Scotland? Japan. Does your house have a porch/balcony? It originally had one, but we refurbished the balcony and turned it into my brother’s room. We still kept a part of the original balcony intact though because it’s where my dog got used to peeing, and we didn’t want him to lose that space. We might’ve lost the balcony but we still have a rooftop if we wanted a view. What's your usual order when you go to a coffee shop? It depends, because the coffee shops I usually go to each have different drinks that I like; like I’d get an iced caramel macchiato in Starbucks, an iced mocha from Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, an iced hazelnut drink from this other local cafe we go to, etc. But I think in general, my security blanket is caramel macchiato. Have you ever seen a theatre show? Not a professionally-produced one. I’ve seen many recitals and amateur productions, though. What was the last movie you saw and who did you watch it with? El Camino. I watched it alone. What is your mother's first name? Abigail. Do you like to dance? Only when I’m super super super tipsy, haha. And even until then it’s still a hit-or-miss if I’ll end up dancing. It’s just not my thing, overall. What's your favourite type of bread? Brioche. Do you receive catalogues and brochures in your mailbox? As far as I know, we don’t.
What colour is the sky right now? Black. Do you share a middle name with any of your siblings? Nope, my parents didn’t do that to us. We obviously all have the same maiden names, though. Have there ever been any bushfires/wildfires in your area? No. Have you ever taken a ride in an ambulance? Nope, never happened. How would you label your sexual orientation? Demisexual, which is under the umbrella of asexuality. When was the last time you took a nap during the day? Just yesterday. What did you have to eat for dinner last night? I skipped dinner last night because of my toothache, so I stuck with the potato chips that my sister had bought that day but never got to finish. Have you ever been a member in a band? Nah, I never really wanted to be in a band. I wanted to learn the drums, but it didn’t mean I also wanted to have a band of my own. Are you double-jointed? I am not. What was the last thing you had to drink? Coffee. Do you currently have any bruises on your body? Not right now, no. Or at least none that I know of. Who was the last message you received from and what did they say? “Impossibleeeeee” from Gab when I told her I saw someone selling AirPods for way cheap. They were selling it for P2,400 or something like $46 lmao it’s ridiculous. What colour are your eyes? Black. Can you cry on command? If so, have you ever used it to your advantage? No I can’t. Do you consider your goals easily achievable or are they pretty grand? They’re pretty grand. What's your favourite kind of accent? You know how Claire Foy speaks in The Crown? That’s my faaaaavorite accent. What time does the sun go down where you live at this time of the year? By this time of the year, the sun sets preeeeeeetty dang early. It’s completely dark by 5:30 PM. Do you prefer beer, wine or spirits? Spirits, def. I hate the first two, especially beer. When was the last time you ate Mexican food? A couple of weeks ago. My mom has loved this Mexican place for ages and so we went there for lunch. Have you ever watched yourself on video? Of course. I think that’s pretty unavoidable by the time you’re 21, lmao. What time did you wake up today? I woke up at 11:30, probably because I took two painkillers the day before. What time will you go to sleep tonight? I have no clue. I still have an entire cup of coffee to finish, so we’ll see how that goes. Do you have separate emails for personal and business? Kinda? I use my personal email for social media stuff, and my school also provides us with our own emails for more academic, serious-y, professional matters, but not necessarily business. Are you the eldest, youngest or a middle child? I’m the eldest. What's your favourite vegetable? Broccoli. What colours are you wearing today? A grey sweater that’s like 4x my size. Do you have a subscription to any streaming services like Netflix? I use Netflix and Spotify but I’m not the one paying for both. Would you rather eat Italian or Indian food? Indian. Are you sitting, standing or lying down right now? I’m sitting up on the couch. Have you ever missed a flight? Nooooo no no my parents would make sure that never happens. Are you someone who always needs a coffee before you can function? No. I can do fine without coffee. Do your neighbours have any pets? Have you ever met them? I’m sure some of them do, but seeing as I don’t really talk to our neighbors, I obviously have never met their pets. When was the last time you washed your hair? This afternoon. What colour is your bedroom door? Brown. Have you ever seen a lunar eclipse? Yeah, I saw the super blue blood moon last year. Pretty fucking wicked. Do you know your significant other's passwords? I know the password to her laptop, but that’s it. What was the last thing you said aloud? “Nope, I’ll do it” I told my sister when she asked if I wanted her to turn off the AC in the living room. Do you know anyone who writes huge essays when they message you? Not really. People tend to type in short, quick messages when they wanna say something long haha. What's your favourite type of salad? Spicy tuna saladddddd.

Most of the time, I just kinda accept the fact that I'm ugly and I don't care but other times, I look in the mirror and think, "God, why do I have to look so fucking gross?" And then I remember that it's my own fault, but I don't want to do anything to fix it. I don't have the motivation to do anything to fix it. When I remember that, it sort of just fucks up my day. Sometimes for a short while, sometimes for a few hours, sometimes the whole day.
I see those drawings of girls in "aesthetic" clothing in an "aesthetic" room and I think, "I wish I could look like that. I wish I could wear those clothes. I wish I could have that room. I wish I could have that life in the drawing."
Not wanting to wear those types of clothes because I'm scared of others judging me is one thing and that's definitely part of why I don't wear them, but the other part is that I really don't think I'd look good in them. I've bought outfits that I think would look good on me. Red/black plaid button-up, dark jeans, combat boots, black v-neck shirt. That didn't look good on me, nor did it feel good. I hate jeans and I prefer not to wear shirts over shirts or jackets over shirts, even when it's cold. "Oversized" sweater, leggings. That didn't look good on me. Long-sleeved shirt, sweatpants. That didn't look good on me.
Now, I just wear whatever the fuck is comfortable. I prefer a t-shirt with sweatpants. Some may say that wearing whatever you think is comfortable is good, but my problem is that I don't look good in anything. I make all clothing items look fucking terrible and that isn't a lie. Even before people in elementary school started bullying me, I never really thought I looked good in anything.
There are some clothes that look decent on me. Some.
But that isn't good enough. I just want to look nice for a change and still be comfortable.
I really shouldn't look at girls in drawings and think, "I wish that were me" but I do. I can't do anything about that. They're drawings for fucks sake, of course they're gonna look good, even if the girls in the drawings are wearing the simplest fucking outfits ever.
This whole vent makes me feel really fucking stupid.
I can't look good in trendy clothing. That's the whole point of this. I can't look good in any clothing, so I just stopped caring once I finally figured out that nothing is ever gonna look good on me. I gave up.
I embarrass my dad (and rarely, my mom) whenever we go somewhere.
"You're wearing that into the store?"
"People are gonna look at your clothes and think, 'gosh, does he ever buy clothes for his daughter?' Why did you wear that?"
I wish I could get my license already so that I could drive places on my own. 8 more months, I think. If I got one now, I'd have to have a person who is 18+ and has a license in the car with me. Or maybe it was a guardian/parent with a license. Either way, it sucks.
On second thought, I don't know if I want to drive. Seems scary. If I do, maybe I'll just try to avoid busy areas. And highways. I'll never drive on the highway.
I hope it's gonna be cloudy outside today. I always made myself upset by checking the weather on Google, so I don't do that anymore. Usually. If I get too anxious, I check. Stupid, huh? Getting anxious over the weather.
I don't like sunny days, they annoy me. I hate the way the sun glares through my window and all of the other windows in here.
Rain is calming. It makes me feel something I can't really describe.
Er, I guess if the rain was a person, I would hug it?? I don't know.
Rain makes me feel happy and calm and sad. I love the smell after rain. I love the way rain looks. I love the puddles, the ripples in the puddles as the rain pours down, the raindrops on the window, the sound, I just love rain.
Cloudy days aren't as good if it isn't raining, but I'd rather have it cloudy than sunny.
I really should get a notebook to write things down in. I could give it to my therapist to help her understand me better, since I usually forget to tell her a few things during appointments (even though I literally get a whole hour to talk, which honestly only feels like 30 minutes.)
Ranting here is nice. I can get advice from others by ranting here. I guess I probably could just open up Tumblr at our appointments and read some of my posts aloud.
I wish I was less scared of things. I'm scared of a lot of things for no good reason. My reason is usually, "I heard something that sounded scary." (it was probably just the cats playing around.)
I have no idea how I got here from talking about clothes, but yeah. End of rant.
Damn, this really went ALL over the place lmao. I wonder if anyone even reads these??
#vent#rant#uh#yeah#self esteem#low self esteem#low self confidence#low self image#i'm ugly#*d e p r e s s e d l a u g h i n g*#i look at a lot of self deprecating jokes and i'm all like oh yeah i 100% relate#and i probably shouldn't do that but whatever#depression#i'm supposed to be on lexapro#honestly??#low self everything

friends to lovers!hyungwon
so hyungwon as your best friend
somehow people can’t seem to grasp that concept of hyungwon being other than constantly sleepy
i mean, since all other kids in collage ever see him is when he’s in some oversized sweater, bed hair, books messily stuffed in his bag and just trying to pass his tests and all that
you would expect with his looks hyungwon would try to dress up a little
but lmao no he couldn’t care less
he’d appear to class with swollen face and pjs if he could
which happened once and kihyun, his roommate, swore that would be the last time he’d let anything like that happen.
but anyway, you’re hyungwon’s best friend and you guys met,,,, in a quite funny way to begin with
you both were freshman attending some start of school party or whatever
and you were just at the corner nursing your drink, not really wanting to get drunk and just observing others
it’s not a wild party but people are slowly getting drunker and more flirtier
and it’s just not your thing honestly you would rather stay in your room and binge watch friends or sleep or something
but your roommate dragged you out to this party saying it’s the start of a new chapter of life or whatever and you decided that maybe socializing a little wouldn’t do u any harm
only a few hours later you find yourself ready to head home and watch a movie alone
but just as you were about to dump your drink in the trash and leave
a tall shadow loomed over you and a body blocked your way
you look up to find a guy grinning down bashfully at you and.... is he sleepy???
if it was any guy you would have rolled your eyes because you were really not up to any games that night
but something about the way he bites his lips uncertainly or the way his fingers finddles with the end of his sleeves just made you ???what is he up to
so you look up at him and just raise your brows
“hyungwon” he put out his hand for a handshake and you shrugged, guessing no harm done by shaking his hand and telling him your name as well
only as soon as you tell him your name he starts talking - in a whole different language.
Portuguese
he was rambling on and on about something and if it wasn’t the fact that you actually self studied that language a little before you would have mistook him as drunk rambling
hyungwon: is smartly rambling in Portuguese
you: why are you telling me how the honeys are made in portuguese.
hyungwon: ..... huh?
you could clearly tell that hyungwon himself doesn’t know half of what he’s talking back so you stiffle back a laugh and said: I studied that language before, you know.
hyungwon: ......oh........
you: you memorized that, didn’t you.
hyungwon: w-wha- i- nO! no i- ...............ok maybe i did it was part of a dare from my friends
he pointed to a group of 5 boys sitting on the sofa and a few of them are actually already on the floor laughing their asses out
you laughed before waving at his friends only to look back at him “that was convincing, the way you spoke. I would have believed you know what you’re saying if i didn’t know the language already”
“that’s what i’m trying to go for. my friend dare me to act convincing to prove that im really an acting major, you know”
you asked if he’s an acting major because you’re in the film major and hyungwon just goes: well who knows, maybe one day i’ll act in a movie that you’re directing! he joked
and one thing goes to the other, you and hyungwon just started talking more that night and truth be told, you were actually comfortable with hyungwon
he is attractive, with his height and face and all but something about how witty and humourous he is just kind of makes you forget about you being attractted to him and just end up being more comfortable with him
so the night ended up with him walking you home to your dorm because he insisted so since “it’s late and you shouldn’t be walking alone”
you decline at first but he insisted and you figured his company during the walk wouldn’t do any harm either
and you were right
by the next day, when you see him at the campus’ cafe, you two were practically best friends as he jumps towards you with a wide smile before putting his arm around your shoulder and putting his coffee order under yours and made you pay for it too
well, that was freshman year and now it’s your 3rd year in collage and you’re halfway dying with the constant quizzes and assignments to pass in within said dates.
and being a film major just means more because going out to film for things only to realize that you don’t have enough clips while editing?
cues you banging your head on the table
but somehow having hyungwon as your best friend helps you big time especially when you need subjects to film in your short movie projects
so you and hyungwon hardly share classes together but the two of you would always make time to meet up after classes at the library or campus’ cafe or the auditorium when hyungwon have to practices to do
you were done with your last class for the day when you text hyungwon, asking him where is he since you know his class ends earlier before you today
the two of you knows each others’ class schedule by the back of your hand so there’s an unsaid rule between you two: the one with class ending earlier gets to decide the meet up place for the day
and when hyungwon texted you back with a curt “audi.” you knew that he just got a new project and is staying back for extra practices
so you took a detour to the campus’ cafe to buy two drinks - your chocolate milkshake and his favorite coffee before skipping to the empty auditorium
the auditorium was mostly dark but the few lights around the stage guide you to the front of the stage, only for you to find hyungwon sitting on the front row
but he looked slightly stressed out with his head down and his hands holding his head.
hyungwon didn’t even noticed you coming in, eventhough you were certain that when the door creaked it was loud enough considering how the auditorium tends to echo
so you put his drink in the cup holder beside his seat before sitting down on the ground, right beside his leg and put a hand on his knee, and he flinches in surprise
“hey, i bought your favorite.” you said and when hyungwon looked up at you, you realize the distress in his eyes and you just become more alert
hyungwon slides down from his seat to join you on the floor before sipping on his coffee
it was quiet for a few second and when he put down his drink, you immediately grabbed his hand, holding them tightly in yours before searching for his eyes
“is everything okay? did you get a new project or something?” fully knowing how hyungwon tend to overwork and stresses himself out whenever there’s a new work given to him
“they’re doing a christmas play....” he started and you nodded as you patiently wait for him to continue “and it’s big this time, you know. like super big.”
your school’s play always tend to go all out for plays and it’s always amazing so when hyungwon said “super big” you just wonder how much more grand will it get?
he probably see the look in your eyes before continuing : there’s gonna be people from Julliard to come and see this play and they’re gonna be giving out scholarships to finish our major there if we get it
and hearing that you just go all !!!!!hyungwon!!!! ohmygo d and you’re gonna get it right!!!!!!
you’re just so goddamn estatic because Julliard is just so!!!!! and with how hyungwon is just so goddamn talented in acting and all you know!!!! that he need to get that scholarship to spread his wings wider and all that you know
hyungwon can’t help but laughs at your excitement before calming you down “oh god relax just because i get the main lead doesn’t mean i’m gonna get it for sure”
you took a sip of your chocolate drink before going “MMMMMM!!!! no but if Madam L gave you the main lead it means the people from Julliard are gonna be considering you, you know since you’re The Main.”
you were talking animatedly about how the people from Julliard are gonna be Blown Away by his talent when they see him
and hyungwon just sit down there in front of you, with this fond smile on his face as he sees how giddy and excited you get
it’s not even you that could be getting the scholarship but yet you’re still so supportive towards him
and he could feel his heart beating wildly and flutter when you beam and grin at him
how could he not realize how adorable you are before this?
i mean,,, you did caught his attention during that freshman party before but after getting close to you he kind of just developed a habit of pushing away or shrugging it off whenever someone said you’re cute or how you two could be a couple since,,, well,,,, you’re his Best Friend.
,,,,but now that he properly think about it...,,,
“come on, let me see those lines.”
“huh?”
“you need someone to help you rehearse your lines with you, right? Well, I’m here so come on let’s get started!”
shaking his head, hyungwon pushed back the thought that maybe you and him could be More than friends to the very back of his mind and showed you his lines
it’s silly, he thought. they wouldn’t feel the same way
if they did they would have showed some signs,,, or so he thought
so you and him would meet up more often to help him read or rehearse his lines
sometimes it would be in his dorm, or at the auditorium whenever it’s empty
but most of the times it’s at the auditorium
so it’s always just the two of you,,,, in the mostly dark auditorium,,,
but it’s not uncomfortable in any way since you often help him out and that you guys are close enough that you trust each other that the other party wont do anything silly,,,
the thing is,,, hyungwon’s the main character and the play he’s playing is,,, of course,,, centers about romance and you,, well,,,
often had to help him by acting out as the female main character
though you act as if it’s no biggie and you’re not affected in any ways since it’s just acting, you said
but your heart always beat a little bit stronger whenever hyungwon reads the romantic lines or when he steps a little bit closer and look deep into your eyes.....
but you push it away, thinking that you probably just got a bit too into your character
yet you can’t deny the attraction you felt towards hyungwon
i mean, you have always acknowledge your best friend as someone that is good looking
and you’re aware that almost half of the student body in the collage would do anything to be in your place, as his best friend and maybe even more,,
at least that’s what they’re speculating as they often see hyungwon’s arm around your shoulder as he walks you to class,
or him waiting infront of your class sometimes and immediately helping you carry your bag,,
you’ve noticed the way others look and you’re aware how much those actions could be seen as a couple thing,,,
but,,, you know better,,
hyungwon is blunt and would often say things on his mind without hesitation
so when people point out that hyungwon might just like you, you just ????i know him lmao he would have said something if he feel that way
yet again, somewhere deep inside you wished that maybe what others has been saying are true and that maybe, just maybe, your best friend feels the same way for you
and that maybe you could have something more then just this friendship...
so like,,, you keep on helping hyungwon with his lines, eventhough your feelings for him are slowly growing bigger and deeper the more often you help him
you couldn’t help it,, not when you see how passionate and determined he is on rehersing for this play and just so,, hardworking it just makes you so??? why is he so goddamn attractive for :(
whenever you reach certain parts where his character and the female character need to do the kiss as the finale,, your heart kind of drops because wow, he’s gonna be kissing in front of so many people and that person won’t be,,, you
but you kept up your front
when hyungwon realized that they’ve reached the part where he’s supposed to do the kiss,,, he got nervous and a bit giddy too because maybe,, just maybe he’d be able to man up and kiss you,, and confess right after
eventhough it’s not the most ideal way to confess but
throughout the time of you helping him out it just made him realize his true feelings towards you
how you’re so supportive and caring towards his passion and work eventhough you’re not gonna get any benefit from this
how hard you help him practice and read his lines eventhough you have had a full day of classes and you could probably just ditch him to go to sleep but noooo
you stayed until late hours to help him practice
you even came to the rehersals and sit among the empty seats so that you could point out things that maybe he could improve
,,,,the amount of time the thought of wanting to pull you into a hug and smother you with kisses for being so supportive towards him crossed his mind was Countless.
and yet he had to hold himself back every. single. time. because that’s not what best friends do.
so when you and him finally practice the lines for the kissing part, you thought that hyungwon was being in character when you see how nervous he is,, but little did you know
when he pulls you in and closer towards him, you could feel your heart beating wildly when you see his eyes cast down towards your lips
thinking that maybe this is it, maybe you’re gonna have your kiss with him, you close your eyes out of both anticipation and fear
seeing you closing your eyes, hyungwon let out a small smile as he softly run his thumb on your cheek before cupping your cheeks and leans in,,,,
only to stop short when he realize how this is not how he really wants to tell you his true feelings
he wants it to be romantic, to be,,, you know,,, ideal because after all you’ve done for him, he wants his way of confessing to be remembered eventhough you might reject him and his feelings
so he lets out a sigh before bumping his forehead with yours and mutter out “why did you close your eyes for, nerd”
slowly, you open your eyes and you laugh, quite bitterly and mostly towards yourself for expecting that hyungwon might kiss you,,,
pushing away and covering up your thoughts, you playfully glare at hyungwon as he walks away to drink his water
“i was scared that you might kiss me for real, you ass”
“i wouldn’t do that lmao”
you: *gasps and pretend to be offtended* whats that supposed to mean!!!
but eitherway, both you and hyungwon pretended that the almost kiss didn’t happen
and while hyungwon tries to figure out the perfect time and way to properly confess to you, you’re left with thinking that you’re sure hyungwon doesn’t like you Like That
and that maybe you should move on and just get over with your feelings for hyungwon....
but anyways, soon it was d-day for the play and hyungwon’s nervous for the play, but you’re nervous too for him,,
since this is gonna be his Big Break if everything goes well for him and he gets that Julliard scholarship
though you’re gonna miss him if he really gets it and leave, but you know how much this scholarship means to him
so when you go backstage half and hour before the show start, a big flower bouquet in your hands as you look around for hyungwon,
wanting to wish him luck and telling that no matter what happens he’s still gonna be A Star to you,
hyungwon spots you first before you sees him and when he sees you standing there,
the flowers in your arm and looking cuddly with your scarf wrapped around your neck to keep you warm,
hyungwon couldn’t stop himself as he stalks up towards you, holding you by the shoulders and turn you towards him
when you felt pressures on your shoulder, you were close to screaming but when you see hyungwon, you immediately beamed at him
you were about to wish him luck when he suddenly cups your cheeks and just,,,,
kiss you
right there and then
among the busy bustling backstage
you were too caught offguard by the kiss that you didn’t even get the chance to close your eyes when he had already pull away
maybe it’s the nerves speaking but hyungwon mutter out an “i love you”
you blink up at him and as if he just woke up from a dream, his hands immediately drop down from your shoulder and he takes one step back, eyes wide as if he’s scared he’d mess up even more
“i’m so sorry i shouldn’t hav-”
he couldn’t even finish his sentence when you grab him down by the collar and kiss him back,
in which it takes him a while to realize whats going on but when he does,,,
well,,, you can guess the rest,,,
yes, you went back to your seat beside kihyun with rosy cheeks and a smile just never leaving your face
kihyun: omg what took you so long the show is about to st- ,,, ohmygod what happened to you??
you: blushes and just shush him to focus on the play
throughout the play you can’t help but feel your heart flutter wildly when hyungwon steps on the stage
seeing the way he plays his character so damn well and just gets almost everyone in the hall hooked with his acting
it’s not like you’re being biased, but you can clearly tell that the scholarship is his
it would be rigged if it’s not
by the time the play ends, almost everyone in the hall stands up to give him a standing ovation
you immediately ran backstage and as soon as hyungwon spots you
he opens his arm wide and you crashes into his arms immediately
“i’m so so so proud of you!! you did amazing tonight even if you don’t get that scholarship do know that you got my heart and-”
yes,,, hyungwon shuts you up by kissing you again,,
and everyone that’s lurking around backstage notices the two of you and they just,, whoops and whistle
(kihyun, somewhere in the corner of the backstage: took them a while. i was ready to just yell at them to confess any second.)
but at that moment, the two of you were just so caught up with the moment and the feeling of being in each others’ arms, you could hardly care
your first date with hyungwon was the night right after the play, your hands holding his as the two of your walk through the cold winter night to get some hot chocolates.
dating hyungwon,,, is like having nothing much changed from your previous friendship with his
only this time having more kisses and clingy hugs in between
you having to threaten him with no kisses whenever he refuses to let you go when you have classes to attend to
“hyungwon i have classes to go to”
“skip it and spend the morning cuddling with me”
“...sounds tempting but you see, i kind of need to ace this class”
he would get all shy and whiny whenever he sees you wearing his hoodie or sweater when you hang around his dorm
“oh you don’t like it? i can take if off-”
“no no no no” as he pulls you onto the couch and cuddles you
you pinching his cheeks out of nowhere when he speaks
“!!! what was that for!!!”
“i’ve always wanted to do that”
having silly rap battles with him when you go out on karaokes with him and the rest of the boys
jooheon: suddenly my career as a soundcloud rapper is being threathened.
dealing with him dozing off at certain times,,
but like he’s cute when he does that eventhough it’s lowkey annoying sometimes
you caught him singing once and ever since that you always bugged him to sing for you more
always avoids doing it because “go ask kihyun to sing for you instead he sings way better!!!”
“why would i even do that when you’re my boyfriend,,, not kihyun,,,”
his heart melts at that and he ended up singing for you softly when you’re cuddling later that day
suddenly speaking some random foreign language towards you
“Eu te amo muito.”
“...what does that mean.”
“i’m confessing your love in portuguese i thought you learned that language before??”
“...oh lmao that. i lied i only know ‘Olá’ ,,,,”
“AND I LIVED FOR 3 YEARS BEING YOUR BEST FRIEND AND NOW BOYFRIEND THINKING THAT YOU KNOW PORTUGUESE? I FEEL SO SCAMME-”
#i honestly.... dont know what this is#i mean take this as an apology for not posting for MONTHS i guess#hyungwon au#hyungwon scenarios#hyungwon scenario#monsta x au#monsta x scenarios#monsta x scenario#monsta x#monsta x hyungwon#monsta x fluff#hyungwon fluff#what else do i have to tag......#is this enough#anyways i love monsta x and kihyun and hyungwon a lot

“Atsushi’s Favorite Gift”
Summary: Atsushi enjoys a relaxing picnic with Chuuya and Akutagawa to celebrate his birthday
Notes: Happy birthday atsushi!!!!!!! so this fic was kind of rushed (i didnt even realize may 5 was his birthday until like, noon of may 4 lmao) but its still very sweet and fluffy and no one dies! also this is based on my chuuakuatsu headcanons I posted about a while ago, but basically all you need to know is that atsushi is trans and he’s pregnant with chuuya’s baby and this is NOT some kind of mpreg/genderbend/fetish thing, and my comrades @akuchuus and @anemiaman have already promised to fight anyone who misconstrues it as such so yeah! I hope you all enjoy this!
*****************************************************************************************************
It was Chuuya’s idea to have a picnic.
Even as they were sitting outside on a blanket laid on the soft grass behind their house, new leaves and budding flowers swaying in the gentle breeze, Atsushi couldn’t help but wonder if there was something else up Chuuya’s sleeves. After all, this was the same Chuuya Nakahara who insisted on throwing elaborate parties for every occasion, celebrating holidays and the time Akutagawa “saved” his life by crushing a spider with equal enthusiasm. Atsushi had told Chuuya he didn’t want anything special for this birthday, but a part of him was still surprised Chuuya had listened.
Chuuya had gone inside to grab the cake; Akutagawa claimed the sun was too bright and was looking for an umbrella, leaving Atsushi alone in the garden. A squirrel darted by, casting curious glances at the blanket. Atsushi gathered some crumbs off the blanket and held them toward the squirrel with a soft, inviting meow, but the squirrel just chittered and scampered up a tree. Daffodils bobbed their bright yellow heads in the wind, and Atsushi smiled, reaching toward the brilliant petals with one hand as he remebered how much fun it had been planting this garden with Chuuya and Akutagawa almost two years ago.
A few months after Chuuya had been dating Atsushi and Akutagawa, he had got it into his mind to buy a “proper home” as he called it, away from the heat of the city and stench of the port, somewhere they could relax. Another reason, one Chuuya never said aloud but Atsushi understood implicitly, was that Akutagawa’s coughing fits had been getting worse and he was convinced fresh air would be easier on his fragile lungs. Rare as it was for everybody to be able to get their time off to coincide, the house really only saw use on the weekends, though Akutagawa did seem to cough less when they were there.
From the moment he saw the house, Chuuya had been determined to make it perfect from top to bottom, including the large, untamed backyard. For the first few weeks, Chuuya was constantly on the phone, asking Kouyou whether or not koi ponds were still in style, consulting Kajii about which brand of fertilizer was scientifically the best, and trying not to snicker as he ordered sacks full of seed, but after some time had passed, Chuuya calmed down and began planting flowers himself, asking Akutagawa and Atsushi for help.
Akutagawa hated plants. No one knew why. Still, Akutagawa had tried to overcome his hatred for all of five minutes before hissing at a leaf that brushed against his hand and storming off, muttering to himself about the evils of vegetation. Although Atsushi would have loved having Akutagawa around, he couldn’t help but be a little happy to have Chuuya all to himself for a while. Akutagawa and Chuuya had known eachother for years before Atsushi had come into their lives; Atsushi was never jealous of them, but he did feel left out sometimes, and it meant the world to him anytime Chuuya or Akutagawa spent time with him in particular.
Atsushi loved every minute he and Chuuya spent together in the garden, even when he get a splinter stuck in his hand from the handle of a shovel, or when Chuuya tripped over a rake and spent a solid thirty minutes shrieking obscenities at it, or the countless times they had to stop entirely because Chuuya was laughing hysterically at the prospect of using a hoe.
Atsushi tried to be the voice of reason. “Come on, Chuuya-san, why don’t you just pick that up-”
Chuuya failed to choke back a laugh. “Pick what up, baby? I’m afraid I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
Atsushi blushed and pointed at the hoe. “That.”
Chuuya raised an eyebrow. “You want me to grab that hoe?” A grin spread across Chuuya’s face. “Y’know, I totally would, but, you see, the handle-” Chuuya’s words dissolved into laughter; he had to take a moment to compose himself. “-the handle’s all covered in dirt.” Chuuya’s eyes sparkled as he smirked at Atsushi. “Do you really want me to get my hands on that dirty hoe?”
Atsushi was taken out of the memory when he heard the door open.
Akutagawa glared at the sun as he sat beside Atsushi, unfolding his umbrella and holding it over their heads. Atsushi wrapped an arm around Akutagawa, leaning toward him so their cheeks were pressed together. “Is it dark enough for you now, Ryuu?”
“It’s never dark enough.”
Atsushi laughed, then moved so he and Akutagawa were facing eachother. “Why don’t you just sit inside? You can turn the lights off and hide under the blankets.” “Well. . .” Akutagawa coughed, staring at the ground for a moment before looking back at Atsushi’s smiling face. “You’re out here.”
“Ryuu!” Atsushi hugged Akutagawa, pulling away the instant he felt his stomach press against Akutagawa’s. “Oh, sorry,” he said, embarrased
Akutagawa blushed. “Don’t apologize.” His eyes gravitated toward Atsushi’s round stomach, already starting to push against the new shirt Chuuya had bought for him a few weeks ago. “It’s-” Akutagawa coughed, making his face even redder. “It’s strange to think about, you having a baby- or, two babies,” he added, correcting himself. “Twins.”
“Do you wanna see if you can feel them?” Atsushi asked. “I felt a kick earlier today.”
Akutagawa nodded, eyes widening, and placed one trembling hand on Atsushi’s stomach.
Atsushi put his hand on top of Akutagawa’s and smiled.
After a few seconds, Akutagawa pulled his hand away, disappointed. “I didn’t feel anything.”
“Well, obviously they don’t kick all the time.” Atsushi couldn’t help but laugh at Akutagawa’s sour face, but he reached out and caressed Akutagawa’s cheek. “Next time I feel something, I’ll make sure to let you know, okay?”
“I got something both of you can feel!” Chuuya proclaimed, striding through the door with the cake, his mischievous eyes gleaming brighter than the lit candles.
Akutagawa scowled. “Nakahara-san, if you say ‘deez nuts’, I swear I’ll-”
“Deez nuts!”
Akutagawa got up to leave, but Atsushi touched his wrist. “Please, don’t go,” he said. “I don’t want to eat the cake without you.”
“I-I guess I can stay, if that’s the case,” Akutagawa said, blushing again as he sat down.
Chuuya sat across from Atsushi and Akutagawa and placed the cake in front of Atsushi. “Alright, now let’s hurry up and sing before the wind blows out the candles.”
After an hour had passed and several pieces of cake had been eaten, the sun began to set, and the air grew colder. Atsushi shivered as a cool gust of wind danced through his hair.
“Are you cold?” Chuuya asked. “We can go back inside, if you want.”
Atsushi smiled. “I’m okay, Chuuya-san.” He gazed at the sunset, then up at the faint stars blossoming above and sighed, content. “It’s a beautiful evening.”
Akutagawa slipped out of the oversized sweater he was wearing over his shirt and handed it to Atsushi. “Put this on. You’ll get sick if you don’t stay warm.” Atsushi laughed. “Ryuu, I’m fine.” He ran his hands over the fluffy sweater; Chuuya had made it himself, and the odd little bits of yarn sticking out in places proved it. “Besides, you get sick more than I do.”
“Please, put it on.” Akutagawa’s gray eyes gleamed with anxiety. “I want you to be safe.” He looked down at Atsushi’s stomach. “And the babies.”
“Oh, okay.” Atsushi hugged Akutagawa, giving him a soft kiss on the cheek before pulling away. “You worry too much,” he said, wriggling into Akutagawa’s sweater. Although the sweater hung off Akutagawa’s bony frame, it barely covered half of Atsushi’s stomach. He tugged at the bottom of the sweater, in a vain attempt to cover himself better, then gave up, sighing. “I hope I don’t stretch this out too much. . .”
Chuuya leaned over and rested his head on Atsushi’s stomach. “If you do, I’ll just knit him another one. Don’t worry about it.” Atsushi felt a flutter in his tummy, and apparently Chuuya felt it as well, if his joyful shriek was any indication. “Atsushi, the babies!”
Atsushi laughed and nodded, smiling wide enough to make his cheeks ache. “I know, I feel it, too, Chuuya-san.”
Akutagawa’s eyes widened. “The babies kicked?” He shoved Chuuya aside and pressed the side of his head against Atsushi’s stomach. After a few moments, he pulled away, scowling. “I still didn’t feel anything!”
“Yeah, I think they stopped now.” Atsushi held back a laugh. “Sorry, Ryuu.”
“What are you apologizing to Ryuu for?” Chuuya complained, crossing his arms. “I’m the one who got pushed onto the fuckin’ ground.”
Atsushi leaned forward and gave Chuuya a kiss. “Sorry, Chuuya-san.”
“Yeah, yeah,” Akutagawa huffed, clearly not over his disappointment. He coughed into his hand. “At least you got to feel the babies.”
Atsushi hugged Akutagawa. “Maybe you can’t feel the babies, but you can feel this, right?”
Akutagawa leaned into Atsushi’s embrace, closing his eyes. “Yes.”
Chuuya wrapped his arms around both of them. “And everyone can feel deez-”
“I fucking swear, Nakahara-san, if you-”
“Deez hugs!” Chuuya sounded insulted. “I was gonna say hugs.”
After sitting outside for a few more hours, Atsushi was starting to get a little sleepy. He yawned, and before he could so much as cover his mouth, Chuuya was holding him.
“You tired, baby?” Chuuya asked, his voice low and gentle in Atsushi’s ear.
Atsushi blushed. “You don’t have to carry me, Chuuya-san. I know I’m kind of heavy, and I-”
“Don’t be ridiculous.” Chuuya gave Atsushi a kiss on the nose. “Nothing’s too heavy for me.”
“Okay, then.” Atsushi nestled closer to Chuuya and wrapped his arms around him. “But promise-” Atsushi yawned again. “-promise you’ll let me carry you around sometime, okay?”
Chuuya laughed. “Sure thing, babe. Once the babies arrive and we’re all worked to the bone, you can carry me around as much as you want.”
“I could help.” Akutagawa stood off to the side with his arms wrapped around himself, scowling at the ground. “If I’m needed.”
“Of course you’ll help, dumbass,” said Chuuya, matter-of-fact. “Don’t think you’re exempt from diaper duty just because the babies aren’t made with your sex fluid.”
“Chuuya-san!” Atsushi cried, blushing ear to ear. “There has to be another way to phrase that!”
“Bodily secretions? Baby gravy? Sexy-time goo-goo juice?”
Atsushi pretended to struggle against Chuuya’s grasp, giggling. “Put me down! I don’t know where your filthy hands have been!”
Akutagawa reached for Atsushi. “Yes, let me hold him. Your hands must be slippery from all those fluids, Nakahara-san.”
Chuuya stepped toward Akutagawa and allowed him to reach out so Atsushi was cradled in both of their arms. “An extra pair of hands never hurt,” Chuuya said with a wink. “C’mon, now, let’s get him off to bed. Not that I’m tired, of course,” he added, puffing his chest. “But you need your rest, sweetie,” he said, giving Atsushi a quick kiss. “It’s hard work carrying those babies around all day, isn’t it?”
Chuuya fell asleep the moment his head hit the pillow; Atsushi and Akutagawa stayed awake for a while longer.
Atsushi was just starting to drift off when he felt the babies kicking. Without saying a word, he took Akutagawa’s hand and placed it on his round tummy.
Akutagawa gasped. “That’s- that’s them? The babies?”
Atsushi laughed, then yawned. “That’s them. They’re saying hello to you, Ryuu-chan.”
Tears sparkled in Akutagawa’s eyes. “Hello.” He rested his head on top of Atsushi’s tummy but kept his eyes trained on Atsushi’s face. “Do you think-” Akutagawa was quiet for a moment, then coughed. “Atsushi. . . will they love me?”
Atsushi stroked Akutagawa’s hair. “Of course,” he whispered. “They’ll love you every bit as much as Chuuya-san and I do.”
Akutagawa inhaled a deep, shuddering breath and fell silent. Minutes later, he fell asleep, his dull, raspy snores as sweet and familiar as a lullaby.
Atsushi glanced at Chuuya’s sleeping face, then Akutagawa’s, then down at his own round tummy and smiled. Chuuya and Akutagawa had given him many gifts- pancakes shaped like cat faces with syrupy smiles at breakfast, bouquets of flowers, tiger plushes, warm bowls of chazuke, and a lovely picnic to top it all off- but no gift could ever make Atsushi happier than his wonderful family.
