Uncharismatic Fact of the Day

You wouldn't think fish need to hold their breath, but that's exactly what hammerhead sharks do when they hunt! Scallopped hammerheads cruise near the surface, where the water is about 15-20°C (59-68°F), but they hunt in much deeper water where the average temperature is about 5–11°C (41-51°F). To conserve their body heat, hammerhead sharks close their gills-- effectively holding their breath for up to 7 minutes before they ascend back to warmer waters.

extremely correct for two reasons

bruce knows he shouldn't get in another stupid argument but refuses to let someone be incorrect around him so he just gets silently passive-aggressive

bruce and clark know/trust each other enough that bruce can just grab clark's arm and roll up his sleeve and file his nails on the guy mid-conversation

i like a really tactile superbat, what can i say... and with that in mind i think it becomes even better when one of them is some insane shark alien. the potential for physical comedy is unmatched

I have a confession to make.

I am awful at coming up with names, but didn't want to keep the name "Yuu" so I opted for the closest thing in my vicinity....which was my Blåhaj plush.

After a few weeks of playing I can't help but imagine interactions between the PC and the cast to just look like this:

Umemiya’s right hand man! Currently filling in for Umemiya while he’s taking a break from champion duties (with Kaji and Sako taking turns as the fourth seat of the Elite Four in his stead) and mainlining medication to settle his stomach. Umemiya didn’t exactly spring this on him — Hiiragi could tell something was off with him for weeks beforehand — but to say he was pleased with the change would be pushing it. He’s making the most of it, and the other members of the Elite Four are doing their best to support him, but he’s hoping Umemiya’s able to figure himself out sooner rather than later.

He’s had his Garchomp (originally caught as a Gible) since he first began his journey, as his starting town was at the foot of the mountains where a lot of hardy pokemon make their home. The choice to master dragon types wasn’t really deliberate — these are just the pokemon he’s tended to gravitate towards, and he appreciates how reliable they’ve always been for him. His Shelgon, unfortunately, seems to have inherited a nervous disposition from Hiiragi’s own bouts of anxiety, and isn’t much for fighting most days. Dragapult’s taken on the task of watching over it and does its best to tease and coax Shelgon out of hiding. Arctibax is Hiiragi’s most recent addition to the team (aside from Kingdra, who isn’t a permanent member) and came as a result of Hiiragi getting annoyed with people always have an ice type on hand to take him down. Not that it always worked — but still, he likes being able to throw Arctibax out and watch his opponent’s expression drop. (He’ll deny he gets any enjoyment out of it, though)

Kingdra ordinarily belongs to Umemiya; he left it in Hiiragi’s care when he passed the champion role onto him, saying a King was fit for another King. It gets along well with Hiiragi’s other pokemon, especially Garchomp, as they’ve known each other for quite a while (Umemiya and Hiiragi having started out around the same time and continued as rivals through the gym challenge that year).

Watching a compilation of the many really satisfying eating scenes from Primal and thinking about KCB and how Cybugs can eat ANYTHING... also thinking abt my hc that Turbo struggled with pica (the urge to eat non-edible things) and how him eventually making it to Sugar Rush where almost everything was made of FOOD helped to alleviate it. He then (understandably) built up a sugar dependency which stayed with him after being excised from SR. He hasn't gone right back to drinking motor oil like he used to but now he DOES put candy sprinkles on absolutely EVERYTHING. Nothing tastes right anymore without a truckload of sugar!!! :(

Cryptids & Creatures of Folklore Drawtober Day 12 — Timor Sea Ground Shark

In the Timor Sea near Australia there are reports of an unknown shark lurking along the ocean floor. It is said to attack people and is larger than a great white shark but looks and acts more like a member of the carpet shark family. Some believe it might be a misidentified or undiscovered species of giant wobbegong.

Stop: it's hammer time! Great hammerhead shark time, that is! Great hammerheads are the largest species in the hammerhead shark group, which contains nine species total. These sharks are also great swimmers-- so great, that they can even swim on their sides! Doing so reduces drag, and therefore the amount of energy needed to move through the water.

Cryptid of the Day: Ground Shark

Description: A massive shark was supposedly seen in 1941 in the Timor Sea, off of Australia’s northern coast. It was said to lurk on the bottom floor, and was much larger than a great white. Karl Shucker theorized that the monster was a Wobbegong, which could grow up to 13ft in length.
