That's a very perspicacious comment regarding Anya's father. Her tolerance of BS and problematic behaviour is at an all-time low thanks to the recent revelations, and she would not have been getting much sleep lately either which would have further eroded her patience. However I think she was totally fair to criticise Roy for missing the plane and for being so blase about the whole situation even if her delivery may have been a little...harsh. But on the other hand, there are many who have applauded her for her take no prisoners approach!

Isn't this Roy's vacation too? Was he being a dunderhead? Yes but he was having a laugh & a drink with a friend and Anya's traveled before, she knows how to see when the plane is boarding or go ask anyway. Is she HIS partner in this adventure just a passenger princess? How about an "oh hey honey we need to get to the gate or we'll miss our flight. Johno so nice to meet you I hope to see you again when we aren't so pressed for time. Let's get a move on honey" Like an adult.

Until recently poor Anya was labouring under the misapprehension that a successful, wealthy professional who was twelve years her senior would also be someone who was responsible, mature, and level-headed. Roy can definitely be all those things in the boardroom, but in his personal life he all too often lets his party animal trait rule, particularly when he is in holiday mode as he is here! Interestingly Anya doesn't seem to mind too much about his immaturity or lack of responsibility when he's sharing drugs with her and nightclubbing till 9 in the morning, so I think her judgment of Roy at the airport could definitely be viewed as being a little bit hypocritical. Yes, it's true she could also have taken on the full responsibility of ensuring they didn't miss their flight, but that is not a sexy power dynamic and I don't blame her for wanting to avoid being the 'take charge' person in the relationship, although it's becoming more and more apparent that in many situations she's going to have to take on that role. Anyway, when she asked Roy whether they should be making their way to the gate but he brushed off her concerns and told her that the plane wouldn't leave without them and that an announcement would be made on the VIP Lounge's PA system. It was her first time visiting a VIP lounge, and she made the fatal error of trusting Roy's word. I don't blame her for being angry with him for telling her fibs.

Absolutely! And she had never been inside a VIP lounge before, whereas Roy was a seasoned visitor. She believed him when he said the plane wouldn't leave without them and that an announcement would be made. Why shouldn't she? And when it turned out that he was fibbing/ talking out his arse, she was understandably angry.

@coreene-simblr Airlines have apps that will update you on the flight status. I would expect someone travel savvy like Anya (She & Roy reconnected in an airport) would know that. I know if I was traveling with a partner I would have that and know our flight number and gate and departure time. So I don't think that Roy not knowing gets her off the hook for her part in this kerfuffle.

Good points, but again she trusted Roy when he said that the plane wouldn't leave without them etc and as mentioned previously she also thought she could trust him to be responsible and take the lead. Obviously she made an error of judgement, and this is probably one of the reasons it's often said that you never really know someone until you travel with them!

Sulking and not talking is definitely something an adult would do Roy xD can't be too mad at Anya for not leaving as someone who gives idiots way too many chances, so I get it.

And she still loves him, even if the scales are slowly falling from her eyes! This is the first fight real they've had, and while it's unfortunate it had to happen on the way to what should have been the most romantic trip of their lives, maybe it could signal a promising new chapter in their relationship...one that's more honest, empathetic, and not burdened with unrealistic expectations.

No, he doesn’t have a place of his own, he lives on the top floor of the house, and he’s been up since 4.30 am feeding the horses and mucking out stables and putting the horses through their paces and he’s been on the go for over 14 hours, which is a typical day for him. Now he’s just trying to wind down by watching his favourite show, Cowgirl Chicks, which is an equestrian-themed show about a group of performing cowgirls who travel the country performing incredible stunts on horseback. He deserves to wind down and watch TV and relax at the end of a long, physically exhausting day.

It’s a little naive of Saoirse not to realize the good doctor probably goes home and takes care of things with the inspiration she’s given. Still, if she’s okay with that arrangement it’s not Roy’s business. Still a little concerning that she’s lying to her husband about doing that but meh. Dysfunctional marriages all over this place.

I am sure Saoirse is well aware of what the doctor might do when he gets home, but she isn’t really interested! And she justifies not telling her husband by telling herself that he would not understand (definitely true) and that it’s harmless, and no one is getting hurt, and that if she didn’t have a little outlet for her subversive streak then she would go insane.

LOLOL Roy is not thinking things through, and being extremely selfish, but like I said earlier, I do admire his bravery and his crazy risk-taking…I guess it’s those qualities that make him a successful sports agent, too. Now, as for Saoirse, she goes along with it because she gets a giggle out of it, it makes her feel special, and a bit naughty, and she gets off the fact that no one else would have the foggiest idea what she and the kindly old vet get up to after hours. (Briony suspects they are having an affair, but has no proof).

I guess the question now is whether Saoirse is only providing a show for the doctor to… tend himself to or if she’s the one doing the handling. Either way doesn’t look great for her to be doing as a married woman to begin with but maybe she can convince Roy it’s just “a business transaction” like his little Crystal loophole.

I’m sure a psychologist would have a field day, but the way I see it is that catering to the doctor’s whims gives her an outlet for the suffocating boredom of living in Sunset Valley, and also feeds her rebellious streak. She does also genuinely like the doctor. I think his feelings for her might go deeper than that, though.

I’m pretty sure most people would regard Saoirse as participating in a sexual act because she is providing a sexual service to the doctor, and her husband would be absolutely mortified, and she knows this too, so it is really quite underhanded (hurr hurr) and duplicitous of her. She worded her answer to Roy very carefully though when she explained what exactly went on…she said that the doctor never took his clothes off.  But she never said that she didn’t. ;=)

Having once been a person with deep seated insecurities, which were only strengthened every time one of my ‘friends’ betrayed me in some way or other, and not able to ever feel secure about any relationship until I somehow landed into a relationship with someone who’d already somehow stuck with me for ten years of ups and downs and bests and worsts… I can’t hate on Anita for this.

Even now, more secure than I’ve ever been in my life, it’s still true that adding anyone 'new’ into my life… is a process. For anyone to actually get close to me they either have to first endure me keeping them at a certain distance for X amount of time (probably measured in years), or else they have to manage to stick around in spite of me being incredibly insecure about them in particular (and all that entails) for … well, about a year or so, it seems.

Nearly all of Anita’s insecurities stem from the fact that she is not young anymore, and from the 20 year age gap between she and Joël…she refuses to accept that her looks might be fading either, hence her addiction to cosmetic surgery. And she has always had anger issues, but now she  has the trauma of Jim’s death and the abuse she suffered at his hands to deal with too. Any relationship is hard…trying to make one succeed under the weight of so much baggage must be unbelievably exhausting. Thank you for showing Anita such kindness and empathy.

That’s why he was ringing her and why he went to the house. No other reason. He’s married. And he doesn’t want anyone on the side. He saw an opportunity the night before and he went for it. It was sneaky and underhanded of him, some may even say despicable, but he still does have some redeeming qualities. No one is 100% good or 100% bad.

Now, for the truth about Margaret- Margaret in the future ends up being Georgina’s mother-in-law- she is actually Patrick’s mother. (Océane calls Patrick Mr Muir here) And the relationship in the present-day story between Bunty and Margaret is still one that is quite difficult, given that Georgina did not want to tell her husband the truth about Bunty’s drinking, for fear that he would tell his mother- you can guess how delighted she would be to spreading it all around town!

In most states of Australia the age of consent is 16 years of age. In Tasmania and South Australia it is 17. The laws in Appaloosa Plains where the story is currently set do not necessarily mirror those of Australia, though  ;=)

I'm adding this chapter to my favorite ones first because I can relate to Bunty, even though I'm not a parent and second here you picture her as a level-headed wise woman - mother (my kind of character). And it's kind of sad that even such strong people can be affected by alcohol or drug abuse. *sigh*

She isn’t level-headed or a wise-woman though- she is shallow, self-centred, and acts like a spoiled child, as evidenced by her flouncing out of the fete. She is mainly concerned with superficial things, like the prestige Roy would bring to the family by becoming a famous footballer. And she isn’t particularly strong either- she started drinking because she was bored, no other reason. I think that shows weakness, not strength.

If Raj wanted Mia he would have had her long before now. She’s his friend and his mule and he does have love for her, but not the sexual or romantic kind. That is his story and he’s sticking to it!

Hmmmmm. I kind of think… Issac wasn’t fired for having sex in Raj’s bed. I think Issac was fired for being too easily manipulated by Mia. If he will do this stupid thing, with all the doors unlocked, etc. and ignoring his duties to do it, then he might do some other stupid thing with worse consequences for Raj, or even Mia. Mia, on the other hand, is behaving kind of precisely as usual. It’s what Raj expects from her. He knows her well enough for that.

YES!! I love this. A man who is too easily manipulated and who is a slave to his emotions is a dangerous man. When I was forming that scene in my head I had the idea that Raj would fire Isaac for being disrespectful and for disobeying orders, and your hypothesis fits in beautifully with Raj’s line of thinking. Raj knows perfectly well that there's more than just business reasons to keep Mia around (and so should Mia, but of course her cloudy-pink feelings get in the way of realizing that). Still, Mia surely deserves a momentarily cold shoulder for her stunt. 😋

Another good reason is that along with Spencer and Julia, Mia knows a hell of a lot about Raj’s shady wheelings and dealings... and for that reason alone Raj would be very foolish to ever completely banish her from his inner circle.

I’m not so sure I agree this was punishment. It’s definitely manipulation. I’m not sure Mia will believe his ‘as an employee’ line any more than some of us. It’s a hook, and Mia’s bound to fall for it, hook, line, and sinker.

Mia knows Raj very well...and she knows that Raj likes to tease her, even when he’s not annoyed with her. When he is annoyed with her his teasing has the capacity to become quite cruel. I think Mia will be licking her wounds for a few days but ultimately she’ll realise the true motivation behind his comment.

this is so well done. The moment she realizes what she had... everyone just pushing it to her face. He's this and that. Even Cammie. Now that the universe poked her into remembering how handsome, rich he is and how much she loves him, she looses him. I mean she obviously lost him some times ago. But it hits her all in a row. Splendid, my heart is- wait i don't have one anymore.

Ooof, that punch in the gut! But it's so dangerous to take people for granted and assume whatever you dish out, they're just going to take because they love you. Love shouldn't be a power struggle or a constant battle over who is in control. It's a partnership, and if it can't be one of equals, it's better to part and find someone else. It's also very interesting to me that despite Roy saying otherwise, she insistently pushes that night at the Pony and keeps trying to put it all on his shoulders again. Does she just not know how to take responsibility? I imagine she was sorry he was hurt, but not sorry for behaving as she did. She seems incapable of admitting to any wrongdoing.

I think she has finally started to realise just how inexcusable her actions were...but it’s a case of too little, too late. I also think she has a chip on her shoulder about being the family’s housekeeper and is subconsciously always trying to subvert what she perceives as Roy’s dominance under the guise of asserting her independence...moving into her own apartment was a big part of that. Roy was guilty of making some horrible comments about her character when they first started living together, but since then he has been the epitome of the model boyfriend. He did not deserve to be treated the way she treated him at The Pony.

And yet I think their relationship even if shortlived has had very possitive effect on Sao's life - she left an unhappy marrige, came to a job where she has found three good friends, but not a boss who is gerking off to her washing her hands. She is in her 30s and hopefully will build up her life from here, not falling into extremes like the first time she came to Bridgeport.

Yes, she shouldn’t have any regrets, whatever happens! And Roy feels exactly the same way you do ;=)

It's the REASON you didn't want to move in with him that is the issue. You weren't committed to Roy and the relationship and now that Roy sees it that doesn't make your reason go away. The independence was the excuse you used not the reason. It was the wall you put up so you wouldn't have to be honest with yourself or Roy. You don't want to commit to him now, or yet, maybe never.

I feel like Roy and Saoirse are on two completely different pages.—Rowing in opposite directions. Truthfully some couples are forgoing cohabitation, and loving it. In other words, it is not unusual for Saoirse to want her own living space.

True, but Saoirse really did want to have her cake and eat it too. Essentially both of them are on the rebound and there are too many unresolved issues for them to make a success of things presently. But who knows what may happen in the future? There’s obviously still a lot of love there and their chemistry is undeniable. I would not be writing their relationship off just yet ;=)

Understandably, Roy doesn't need to deal with a relationship right now. He really needs to get into counselling after having to deal with his abusive narcissist of a mother. And he needs to stay clear of Saoirse. The only thing that she wants is his you-know-what and his money.

She’s gone to great lengths to prove that she’s not a gold digger, but she’s definitely into the D, lol! ! And I agree that after his marriage break down and his issues surrounding his mother counselling would definitely be a good idea for Roy, but sadly there’s no way he would ever entertain that idea. It’s quite amazing he’s even recognised that he needs a holiday!

After being "controlled" for most of his life, Roy is probably projecting his mother's abuse of him onto Saoirse. That boy needs some serious counselling - big time or he's not going to be able to get over his "mommy issues" and his propensity to want to control every part of his life...after being "out of control" during his childhood...

I'm completely behind Roy (surprise!) wanting to have a committment, and I understand how living together is making a statement to that effect, but I also think she wanted the cream without the cow. He's genuinely hurt by this and coming to terms with unraveling it and I still don't quite know what she's feeling. The offer to move in with him feels hollow. A change in location isn't a change of ❤

I think she’s in a bit of a state of shock rn...Roy bent over backwards to accommodate her and she probably still can’t quite believe that he’s had enough of being jerked around. What’s sad to me about the situation is how little she knows him and how dismissive she has been of his feelings, and now it’s probably too late. I do think the offer to move back in was genuine though, even though it was an act of desperation! Love the phrase ‘the cream without the cow’, lol! You always have the best sayings!
