Hockey Rink

Sul Sul!

This is my Simtown's hockey rink. I built it on an 18X18 "Lofty Lifestyle" lot of 2 reasons:

It has a parking lot, which is fitting for a public area.

Unlike the other driveway homes, it gets fully covered in snow while the others only have it outside the grid.

The rink contains a frozen pool (of course), benches, a cash register, street lamps, picnic tables, and a concession stand. It's surrounded by a white frosted fence, and the patio is grey slate.

I also added a weather machine to make the weather nice and wintery. As I do in all my lots, I placed it in a 2X1 room in the basement where it doesn't take up space or stand out.

That's the rink! This is my first post here, so I decided to go with a relatively simple design that most players can easily recreate.

Skate Park

Sul Sul!

This is my simtown Skate park. Naturally, I built it on the "Pro Skater Dream Pad" 18X18 lot. Its impressive skating ramp and graffiti-covered exterior made it the perfect candidate.

The park contains many items from the Urban Outdoors event: the silver spray paint supplies, the black and silver retro boomboxes, and the abstract roller rink and dance floor (both bold and pastel).

I added 2 basketball courts in the corner, a snowboard rack in lieu of a skateboard rack, 2 movie cameras to capture neat tricks, a breakdancing boombox (from the hobby section, not to be confused with the 2 retro boomboxes), 3 oak school benches, a blue dumpster and a fire hydrant.

For the patio, I was torn between grey slate and blue sports ground. Ultimately, I chose to create an old, well-loved park, and the grey slate made more sense for that look than the more modern and vibrant sports ground.

a/n: it's been ages since i've written so i'm not entirely satisfied with how it turned out, but i wanted to finish it before the finale airs tonight cause god knows whats gonna happen.

Amelia is panting as she rolls off to the side of them, caressing their arm as she laid back down onto the pillow beneath her, their arm resting right beneath it. Her hand coming up to tangle in their hair.

“Wow..” her breathing still not quite back to normal. “That was..”

“Better than forcing me to go sightseeing?” they tease, smile beaming at her.

“Ah. I don’t know.” she sighs, “The view from the space needle is pretty spectacular.”

“Hmm. More spectacular than this?”, they say, voice hoarse with lust, coming up to nuzzle up closer to her, their nose slightly squished against her face as they plant soft kisses across her cheek and jaw.

“Mhm.. You can see Mount Rainier..” she pauses briefly at the sensation of their lips on her neck. “Puget Sound, Meredith’s house..” the sudden realization quickly snapping her out of their perfect bubble. “We’re late, we g- we gotta go. Maggie is gonna freak out. We gotta go.” she continues, sheets rustling as she starts getting up.

“Hey, hey..” they interrupt, arm snaking up across her chest. “You sure?” they ask, lightly brushing her chin with their thumb, hand traveling down and spreading gently actress her throat. “We could just stay here, call and say we’re not feeling well. Could say I have jet lag or something.” they smirk, their hand now on a journey across Amelias chest.

She looks at them with a slight side eye, her voice soft “Kai, Seattle is only a 2 hour time difference from Minnesota, you wouldn’t get that jet lagged from jus-” She starts, but is quickly interrupted. “Hey!” Their tone slightly raised, brows furrowing in that playfully mad way only they could make look cute. “For all they know I could be really sensitive to time differences, I just flew in last night so for my body it’s 2 hours later than it is here. Ergo I’m not feeling well and need to rest, too bad.” they chuckle, other hand coming up to cup the back of her head as the other pulls her closer to them.

Her hand coming up to softly cup their cheek, fingers lightly tangling in their hair.

“You know what? Yeah, screw the party. It’s gonna be weird and awkward anyway with everyone trying to test Nick, seeing if he’s good enough for Meredith, and to be honest, I don’t have the best experiences with big dinner parties. I would rather just spend the day here, cherishing every last second with you.” eyes beaming up at them, butterflies spreading throughout her whole body as their fingers dance across her chest, gently caressing her breasts before slowly continuing down to where she wants their touch the most, mouth coming down to meet hers in a soft kiss. “Good idea, you know I’m not that great in large crowds anyway.” They whisper as they plant kisses across her jawline, gently nipping at her ear, eliciting a moan and a sharp inhale as she pulls them closer, leg coming up to grant their touch entrance once again.

“We.. we should te-“ Her voice breathy as she makes one final attempt to collect her mind before letting them take her to heaven again. “I should text Maggie, let her know we cant make it..” Trailing off again, breath shaky. Their touch hot against her already sweaty body and it takes everything in her to keep this one thought collected.

“Yeah, that’s probably a good idea..” they whisper, their breath dampening her jaw as they reach for the phone on the nightstand.

She immediately misses their touch, a groan slipping out at the interruption as they hand her the phone.

“Can’t make it.

Kai’s not feeling well from the flight.

Tell Meredith we’re sorry.”

She presses send as she blindly aims for the bedside table, missing, phone falling to the floor. But she doesn’t even notice the thud of the device hitting the floor as they’re leaving a damp trail of kisses all down her torso as her hand comes down to intertwine with theirs, their mouth making its way past her bellybutton, their free hand gently caressing her outer thigh. Their touch deliberately just inches away from where they know it would make her lose any ounce of sanity she had left.

She lets out a moan, her body involuntarily thrusting into their touch in a desperate attempt to get it to where she wanted, needed, it the most. The desperation of her movement eliciting a light chuckle from underneath the covers as their fingers finally dip into her, the heel of their palm pressing against her pubic bone as they quickly find the spot they’ve come to learn is her most sensitive. Her hands coming down to tangle in their hair, pulling them as close to her as possible as she’s panting, feeling her orgasm build quickly under their mouth and hands, every last nerve in her body tingling as the wave takes her, grabbing onto the sheets for dear life as their hand comes up to her neck.

They chuckle at the sight of her bright red face as they come up from under the covers, flicking away the strand of hair that’s gotten stuck to their forehead as the fresh air hits their face. Placing soft kisses across her stomach as they come up to settle next to her as they both catch their breath for a minute.

Amelia chuckles as she turns her towards them, stroking their flushed cheek as she softly presses her lips to theirs, tasting herself on their lips. “Yeah, this is definitely better than going to that dinner party.”

“Mhm..” They hum into the kiss, nodding softly in agreement as they run their fingers up and down her back, tracing little maps and shapes onto her slightly sticky skin as they both start to cool down, heart rates slowly returning to normal, as well as their breathing.

Amelia lets an “I love you” slip as they’re cuddled up, their head nuzzled into the crook of her elbow, their palm spread across her ribs. At first she doesn't think they heard it, thank god, as they’re both starting to doze off, but Kai turns to fully face her, looking deeply into her eyes and the realization that they’d heard what had not been intended to be said out loud. Not now, not yet, and for a moment she panics, “Oh my god, it’s too soon. I’m so sorry” she trails off, turning to get up but gets stopped by their hand coming up to gently cup her cheek, their thumb wiping away a tear she hadn't noticed escape her eye.

“Amelia..” They start, their voice soft as they gaze deeply into her eyes and it felt like they were looking straight into her soul as she felt a sudden rush of anxiety wash through her body.

“I love you too”, they whisper, pressing a soft kiss to her lips and she feels herself melt into them. Her arm wrapping around their back pulling them closer, inhaling their scent. A scent she would never get enough of. A scent she hoped she could spend the rest of forever waking up and falling asleep to. They fall asleep like that, their hand in her hair, her arm draped across their waist, legs tangled under the covers. Just pure bliss.

Thoughts on Grey’s Anatomy: 18X18

SPOILERS AHEAD!!!

I actually really enjoyed this episode! It’s the first one in a while where I can honestly say that. When it came to Wendell swindling Winston and Maggie out of $20 grand, I was shocked, but not surprised. I wasn't surprised that Winston gave him the money as we learned in this episode that he had had it out with his brother and that he was now living in a hotel on Winston's dime which Winston paid for to get him off their couch. I was shocked, but not surprised to learn that he'd swindled Maggie out of money too and I was sad to find out that he did that someone who has been nothing but kind to him and gave him the benefit of the doubt time and again.

As for the dinner party, I'm not a Nick fan and I never will be after the disrespect this show showed to Hayes by bringing him back when they did and up to this episode, he's done nothing but annoy me this season. That being said I found him considerably less annoying in this episode and I thought he gelled nicely with the rest of the cast and it was nice to see him get to know Meredith's family. He actually seemed on board with being a part of her life in this episode which was nice. It was an interesting contrast to Kai who realized throughout the party that her and Amelia want different things and while they love each other Kai doesn't want to have kids or be a parent and since Amelia is both a Mom and a beloved Aunt to so many wonderful children that's not going to work out.

I think either this episode or the next one is the last we'll probably see of Kai. Seeing as next week is the season finale that hopefully means that the actor is moving onto other things. To me how it came it across was that Kai knew that Amelia was a Mom and loved her child, but she got to see the person Amelia is away from her family. I think her time in Minnesota was like a vacation away from her hectic life in a lot of ways. Knowing someone has a kid and seeing them with that child is very different. Also, knowing someone is an aunt to a bunch of kids and actually seeing how close they really are in that Amelia is like a second or third parent to a whole gaggle of children is very different.

I think Kai just realized that the reality versus what they pictured Amelia's family life was like in Seattle was very different and they owed it to themselves to be honest with her. Poor Amelia though. She put her whole heart and soul into that relationship and now she’s crushed. I loved what Amelia said to Nick about what she wants for Meredith. It was very sweet and touching and I love moments where they acknowledge and address Amelia’s past bad behaviour and have her come to terms with it or talk about it. As for the rest of the dinner guests, what was up with Teddy and her obsession with Boggle? I thought Link and Owen actually behaved themselves for once and acted like stand up guys this episode so that was nice to see.

Owen has been much more of an agreeable person this season and Link has been real jerk, so it was nice to get a break from that and see everyone get along. I felt that the anti-Asian hate crime case and how they handled it was very impactful. The scenes in the OR and with the patient's family made me cry. I loved how simple and impactful Bokhee's words to Nico and Lin were. I thought about the actress who plays Bokhee and how her real life experience must have impacted her in those scenes. That being said, I do wish that they would balance things out more a bit these days. It feels like every single case they cover recently is a 'very special episode' where they cover a very heinous and horrible injustice or crime. It's important to spotlight these issues for sure I just wish they would balance the tough cases out more like they did in the early days of Grey's. For me it's become very draining and is taking away from my appreciation and enjoyment of the show.

But I also recognize that as someone with a lot of privilege a lot of these cases deal with issues I'll never have to personally experience, and I don't want to take away from the harsh reality I know other people are facing every day. I more want to highlight the change in writing style of the last few seasons and how I wish narratively there was more balance between light and dark. I’m relieved that Catherine is sticking to chemotherapy and not just to appease Richard. It's her best chance of survival and to just give up at this stage would be very out of character for her. I thought she just wanted Richard to stop being a doctor at her chemo session and start being her husband. I didn't get the impression she wanted to quit, but rather that she needed a break from being doctored.

Why do the writers keep coming back to Levi and Nico as a couple? They are clearly not right for each other. Levi is always there for Nico when he needs him whether they are together or not, but Nico is never there for Levi when he needs him. I think they should bring back Vaccine Doc and have Nico ride off and go work for the Mariners. I loved the call backs with Bailey and Meredith missing the party to care for her patient and other such moments throughout the episode. Another great moment for me was the scene between Amelia and Kai. The acting was great, and I thought it was a very mature way to handle things. 

As for the season finale, I would love to see more call backs and shout outs to the past and I think April and Jackson coming back will be interesting for sure. There’s also rumoured to be a possible Taylor Swift appearance and I'm a big Swiftie too so that's also very exciting! Whether it's Taylor herself or her music her inclusion will always make me happy.
