NorthShore Nowheres part 1
part 2 || part 3
|| Poly!plastics x fem!reader (bit of Cady x fem!reader) (btw I myself am poly)
|| Warnings: loosely follows the movie musical, with reader being Aaron (slight dialogue changes to fit Y/N), light swearing
|| Summary: you're the leader of the NorthShore Nowheres biker gang/clique. The plastics take an interest in you, but so has Cady...
Requested by Anon!

Tumblr media
The sound of your motorcycle filled the parking lot as you zipped through and parked in your usual spot, taking your helmet off and twisting your head slightly in a way that fixed your hair. For the plastics, who had been watching you from the side steps of the school, time seemed to play in slow motion. Watching as you flick your hair and get off your bike. Your walk radiating pure confidence. The girls shared a look with one another.
"We're all in agreement?" Regina asked her girlfriends, who nodded and looked back at you. Watching as you walked past them, heading up the steps and giving the school's polycue a wink.
~~~
You sat in AP Calculus. Not listening to a word Ms Norbury was saying as she stood at the front, hands on her hips and looking out at the rows of students. You simply folded a paper airplane and tossed it at some random kid next to you, making another stifle a laugh as you smirked. The student swatted the paper plane away.
"Y/N L/N." Ms Norbury gave you that signature warning look, which made you roll your eyes and she continued on with her lecture," Chapter one! Limits and their properties. What the heck are limits, you say? If I write out the equation..."
You started zoning out, hand on your chin and elbow on your desk as you stared at the board blankly.
"The limit equals 3." A voice from behind you spoke up, pulling you from your day dreams.
"That's right." Ms Norbury said, sounding surprised. " Let's try another one. Find the value for K for which the following limit exists."
"K equals -3." The girl says again.
"Damn, girl!" Some mathlete kid piped up.
You looked behind at the girl and smirked," Wow. Are you trying to make the rest of us look like dumbasses?"
"No- I'm- I'm not- trying to it's just sort of happening..." She replied, stuttering as she stared at you. Adorable. You laughed.
"Oh? Is that how it is? Okay. Well..." You leaned a little closer," challenge accepted."
You turned around, looking down at your paper with a sigh. The new girl on your mind. Reaching into your bag, you pulled out your pen then gently trailed your hand through your hair as you began working on your paper. Why did you sign up for AP Cal? This class was going to kill you.
Behind you, you heard something fall to the ground and looked to see Cady's pen. You bent down and picked it up, handing it to her with a smile before looking at the board again. You could have sworn you heard music coming from somewhere...
~~~
After school, you were outside with some of your biker gang. Just chatting and hanging out as you fidgeted with your phone. You happened to notice Cady watching you and gave her a small wave. Then turned your attention towards your gang again; when Cady almost got hit by the bus, your eyes widening slightly. You debated going to check on her. But she said that she was okay. Which made you sigh with relief from where you stood a bit away.
~~~
The following day, you and your gang sat at your usual lunchtable. Rough housing with each other, laughing and spreading gossip as you usually do. You glanced over at the plastics table, watching as Regina got up and walked away.
Karen and Gretchen were talking with Cady. "So, have you seen any guys you think are cute yet?" Karen asked.
"Oh, um- not a guy- but well actually there's this girl in my Calculus class." Cady responded.
"Ohhh, a senior! Who is it?" Gretchen replied.
"Ah, Y/N L/N." Cady replied, Karen and Gretchen shared a panicked look.
"You can't like Y/N L/N!" Gretchen said quickly.
"No, no bad, danger." The danger Karen said was loud enough to get your attention, you glanced at them in confusion then rolled your eyes and focused on your group again. Getting shoved by one of your friends who you playfully shoved back and smirked at.
"We're after her so you can't have her." Gretchen states, looking over at you and your gang's table," Crushes are off limits for friends that's just like the rules of feminism."
One of your friends in your gang wrapped an arm around you and started filming a TikTok. Instinctively you winked at the camera then laughed slightly and looked at your friend, who's name was Julia. But no one called her that, pretty much everyone referred to her as Jules. "Jules, girlie. What weird trend are you hoping on now?" You asked with your usual charming smile. Two things you had a reputation for. Being a bad girl. And then your charm, even if you weren't overly popular people still loved you. You just weren't Apex Predator worthy. Possibly like whatever was a few chains down from that, though.
"That one silent review trend. Featuring you." Jules pointed at you and you couldn't help but laugh.
"Definitely tag me in that." She nodded and you gave her shoulder a gentle pat.
~~~
At the end of the day, you and your gang hanged out at your usual bench. With you sprawled out across it and Jules laying across you. You guys were close friends, though there were rumours you were a thing. One of your friends made a joke and you laughed, though it was cut short as the plastics walked over. Regina with her arms folded, Gretchen and Karen following behind.
Regina's intimidation was enough to scare Jules off you (and the rest of your gang). They excused themselves as you sat up, watching the three in confusion. Once again you swore you heard music... with faint jungle sounds?
"Something I can do for you?" You folded your arms, a little annoyed Regina scared off your friends.
"You. Us." Regina gestures to herself, Gretchen and Karen," Date to the movies Friday night. Wear something nice." She looks you up and down, you glance at your baggy jeans and leather jacket before looking at Regina again.
"Is this you inviting me into your polycue?" If you're being honest, you have wanted them for a while. You just didn't want to risk making a fool of yourself. Regina's gaze tells you everything you need to know, so you nod." Alright. Friday night."
Regina smiles and walks over, kissing your cheek before looking towards Cady who had been watching. She beckons Cady over and then walks away from you. Gretchen and Karen linking arms as they giggle, Gretchen sending you a wink. Your face flushes and you look away, making a mental note to be extra careful. The last thing you wanted to do was piss off all three.
~~~
Feedback is welcomed! Probably going to make this a 3 part story (maybe longer depending), each part being about a half an hour chunk of the movie with extra bits added in between. Just so this doesn't become overly long, yk?
i think uh gretchen and karen are gay and in love so here’s some of my headcanons about it :3
Tumblr media
<3-before they got together, karen was incredibly clingy with gretchen and gretchen only (as i mentioned before, karen is just a very touchy person but gravitated toward gretchen)
<3-karen heard gretchen when she was singing “what’s wrong with me?” and went on a very long and heartfelt rant about how there’s nothing wrong with her
<3-that’s when gretch realised she had feelings for her best friend c:
<3-they literally share everything like if gretchen gets a coffee half of it will be drank by karen
<3-karen loses her things a lot so gretchen’s come to have extras always
<3-they make collaborative spotify playlists :3
<3-they’re always clinging to each other during sleepovers at regina’s and regina is a really big hater about it
<3-they had their first kiss after cady’s party
<3-gretchen was so upset about jason and karen was there for her the whole time
<3- “i dunno why you like him so much. you’re like…really nice and smart and pretty. but he’s so…not nice to you.” among other compliments
<3-gretchen could not believe that karen really felt that way about her
<3-she kinda just stared at karen for a few seconds
<3-they made out very passionately after that (gretchen kissed karen first even though she was terrified to)
<3-it took gretchen like a day after that to tell karen she actually liked her
<3-they were each other’s dates to the spring fling c: they weren’t official yet at that point
<3-when they started dating, karen asked gretchen, “does this make you or me the boyfriend?”
<3-gretchen calls karen “mama”, “(mi) amor”, or “kare-bear” if she’s feeling particularly corny and karen calls gretchen “gretch” always
<3-they have movie nights with regina, cady, aaron, janis, and damian and whenever someone picks a horror movie karen gets scared so easily that she just huddles up to gretchen the whole time
<3-gretchen absolutely loves karen’s big brown eyes like there might actually be nothing she loves more in the whole world
<3-karen loves biting gretchen like not in a sexual way she just thinks gretchen looks so edible she will bite her very softly all the time
<3-gretchen will absentmindedly do that thing with her thumb when she and karen are holding hands and it kinda drives karen crazy
<3-they do that cheesy couple thing where they rest their foreheads together like they’re about to kiss and everyone else hates it (affectionately)
<3-karen had feelings for gretchen for a while and made it painfully obvious but just never said anything
<3-gretchen is a lesbian (i’m kinda projecting with this one) jason was just her comphet fr
<3-karen is pan (this is semi canon/confirmed by avantika)
<3-gretchen has insomnia and often calls karen in the middle of the night just to hear her voice
<3-gretchen sometimes has panic attacks and karen is the only person who knows exactly how to calm her down
<3-gretchen picks at her cuticles and karen brings her colourful bandaids and holds her hands to prevent her from doing so
<3-gretchen gets quite jealous easily,, mostly due to being a very anxious and insecure person
okay . i’m done thank u for coming to my ted talk ^w^ (i have more please ask me about them if you want)
there is NOT ENOUGH karen shetty x gretchen wieners on here, and every other platform (ao3). so here's my overdue contribution to the gay best friends to lovers of the 2024 plastics
only headcanons for now until i can write oneshots about them. (give prompts pls?)
# SFW | cutesy hcs
pre-dating! karen shetty x gretchen wieners
— karen always hangs at gretch's house after school
— sometimes it's just gretch having a full-blown rant session about guys and girls (mostly girls now)
— because gretchen wieners is bi! and starts to focus on girls more now that she dumped jacob
— also... gretchen probably has religious guilt
— and sometimes it's karen forcing gretch to do a tiktok with her
— gretch especially loves learning tiktok dances from karen
— they discovered that setting the a/c on the lowest temperature and cuddling is the best way to end a sleepover
— gretchen uses karen's arm as a pillow
— gretchen gets cold easily... so you know, back cuddles
— gretchen definitely likes karen's back cuddles
— but she likes it more when she's facing karen
— whenever gretch faces her, she overthinks whether to tell karen she's pretty because it might not be appropriate for the situation
— so karen initiates the praises instead; ranging from "you looked good with your shoes today" to "i like how you look at me"
— karen's voice slightly lowers when she's sleepy
— gretch accidentally calls karen "mamí" instead of "mamá" more than a few times
— and gretch plays it cool every time because karen doesn't seem to have heard nor realized it
— but karen DOES. EVERY TIME.
— one time it happened, they were with the whole friend group (regina, cady, janis, damian, aaron) and karen acted like she was busy on her phone to save gretchen the embarrassment
— the group still noticed though, the slip up and the acting; regina wasn't as surprised honestly
— ever since then they had been plotting to get them to realize their feelings for each other; regina and cady agreed to play their secret wingwomen, led by damian (regina gave up after the first few weeks because the two were just too hopeless)
— karen and gretchen don't realize their feelings until college
— speaking of college, they're roommates! (along with cady but girl's always at regina's place)
— still not dating at this point though, just having very normal homoerotic crises about their best friend
— it was driving gretchen absolutely maddd
— didn't help that karen was popular with the crowd
— as a result of overthinking, gretchen ended up ignoring karen; karen took a while to notice though
— by the time she did, gretch has curled up in her bed, all swollen up from crying all weekend
— karen had pink flowers to give gretchen that night
— karen dried gretchen's eyes first before confessing (my karen shetty gentlewoman, gentle giant agenda)
— karen only kissed her hand, knowing that gretchen was at a place where she needs to take it slow or else she'll get overwhelmed with things again
— that night, gretchen slept on karen's chest
— the gang arrived the next day to spot them cuddling, and took pictures for future purposes
well, that was longer than what i initially had in mind BUT IT HAD TO BE SAID.
i NEED more of them please im begging
the main reason I ship regina/gretchen is that I think if they hooked up sloppy style even once it would fix both of them
"if there's a prize for rotten judgment, I guess I've already won that". regina x gretchen pretty please 🙏
send me a song lyric and a ship and i’ll write something based off it!!
tw for mentioned outing and mental health discussion things and mild fatphobia
It’s entirely possible that Gretchen Wieners has the worst judgement in the entire world.
Well, okay, it’s not like she chose to become friends with Regina George. And then best friends. And then fall madly in love with her. It just… happened.
But it clearly didn’t for Regina.
She sent Cady a candy cane? Thanking her for being such a great best friend?
And Gretchen didn’t get anything? Regina didn’t even look at her this morning.
She hates herself for it, but Gretchen snarls at a group of freshmen in the bathroom during her study hall. They leave in a panic, knowing she still has a serious in with the queen of the school.
In actuality, Gretchen just didn’t want them to see her break down.
She drops her designer bag on the revolting floor and manages to hoist her way up onto the ledge by the window. It’s snowing lightly. Gretchen’s tears flutter down her cheeks as the snow does the same in the courtyard outside.
She knows she should be in study hall. She has got to study for her algebra midterm. She would’ve gone to Cady, but… she’s not sure now.
“Go away,” she grumbles when she hears the door creak open.
“Gretch?”
“Shit,” Gretchen hisses, whirling her way down and into a stall before Regina can see her. She makes her voice higher and squeakier before she says, “No. She’s not here.”
“I recognize your bag, Gretchen,” Regina replies. “Ew, are you crying?”
“No!” Gretchen insists hastily. She unlocks the door and holds her hands out to her sides so Regina can see she’s definitely not crying. “See? I-I’m totally fine!”
“No, you’re not,” Regina replies, almost gently. “Did someone say something? I swear to god if-”
“No, Regina,” Gretchen says. “Really. It’s fine. I have to go, I’m late for study hall.”
“Well then why the hell are you crying?” Regina calls as Gretchen grabs her bag and tries to rush out the door.
“Why don’t you ask your best friend?” Gretchen gripes under her breath.
“What are you talking about?” Regina asks in exasperation. Gretchen whirls around and stalks over to her.
“You sent Cady a candy cane? Cady?! We’ve known her for three months! And now she’s… she’s your best friend?” Gretchen says. Don’t cry now, not in front of Regina, no, stop it, stupid-
“What? I never sent Cady a candy cane,” Regina says.
“She just got one from you last period!” Gretchen insists. “Thanks for being such a great best friend, from Regina.”
“I didn’t send her anything,” Regina repeats. “You know I don’t send them, I just get them.”
“Then… she’s… not…”
“Of course she’s not my best friend, Gretchen,” Regina says softly. “She’s not the one I met in preschool. She’s not the one I used to trade Twinkle Toes with.”
“You remember that?” Gretchen chuckles wetly.
“Yeah,” Regina says. “Cady’s… good for the group. But she’s not you.”
“She could be,” Gretchen mumbles, looking down at her shoes. These are her favorites. Regina complimented them when she first bought them and Gretchen has loved them ever since. “You said it yourself.”
“I did?” Regina asks. “When?”
“At the Halloween party,” Gretchen says. “You said she’s the same kind of exotic cute as me only fresher so I should watch out.”
“Jesus,” Regina whispers under her breath. “Okay, look. You wanna ditch the rest of the day?”
“Huh?”
“Did I stutter? Do you wanna leave?”
“Y-yeah,” Gretchen says. “Where are we going?”
“I dunno. Smoothies?” Regina asks, strutting those perfect legs out of the bathroom and towards the doors to the building. Gretchen feels like a little pet scurrying after her wiping tears from her eyes.
“O-okay.”
Regina leads her to her convertible and tosses her bag carelessly into the backseat. Gretchen gently does the same with hers and slides into the passenger seat. She had been banished to the backseat with Karen to make room for Cady, but she hopes this time is okay because it’s just the two of them. Hopefully. Oh, god, what if she gets-
“I’m sorry,” Regina begins as she turns the engine over and pulls out of the student parking lot. Huh?
“It’s okay,” Gretchen says automatically.
“No, Gretch, it really isn’t,” Regina sighs. “Do you know what borderline personality disorder is?”
“Not really,” Gretchen says. “They mentioned it in psych but we never really went into detail.”
Regina nods. “I have it.”
“Oh. I’m so sorry,” Gretchen says. What is she supposed to say in this situation?
“It’s caused by… well, that doesn’t matter. But I feel things a lot more intensely than normal people do. Happiness, which, yknow. Pretty amazing. But anger and depression and shit too. I have a harder time keeping a lid on it,” Regina says.
“Oh.”
“I get angry a lot. Really easily,” Regina continues quietly. “And every time I do, it gets even easier. I’ve been in…”
“A fog?” Gretchen asks softly.
“Yeah,” Regina says. “I’ve been in a fog, of just… so much anger. Hate. Rage. For years. I think it started when my dad left. And it peaks and dips. But I lash out when it peaks. Like everything I… everything I did to Janis. And when I said that shit to you at the Halloween party.”
“That’s not your fault,” Gretchen says.
“Maybe not the root of it, but it’s not like I’m not in control of myself, Gretch,” Regina says. “I’m still responsible.”
“But you-”
“God, can you let me talk?!” Regina barks. Gretchen nods frantically and cowers down in her seat. “Sorry. I’m sorry. I didn’t- fuck, Gretch. You’re scared of me, aren’t you?”
“Everyone is,” Gretchen says softly. “You’re the queen.”
“Dictator, more like,” Regina says dryly. “I knew everyone else was, but you… you’re my best friend, Gretch.”
“You wouldn’t have kept me around if I wasn’t,” Gretchen says.
Regina is quiet as she mulls Gretchen’s words over in her mind. Gretchen isn’t sure if she should speak or not, so she settles for looking out the window at the two-lane road they’re hurtling down.
Eventually Regina pulls into the parking lot of a dinky little diner. It’s most certainly not somewhere befitting the Plastics today, but it was their favorite spot back when Janis was still with them.
Regina walks in like she owns the place, right past the very confused hostess and into their booth in the back corner. Gretchen is amazed she even remembered where they sat as she rushes after her.
Regina always makes Gretchen order their food. Gretchen always gets terribly anxious ordering the food. Regina never notices.
But this time, she does. She looks at Gretchen oddly as she starts quietly coaching herself through her deep breathing exercises to get herself calmed down enough to speak.
“Are you okay?”
“Mmhmm!” Gretchen hums frantically. “Mmhmm.”
“Don’t lie to me, Gretchen.”
“I’m not!” Gretchen insists.
“You sound the same as when you told me you were okay in the bathroom. You’re lying,” Regina insists. “What’s the matter?”
“I hate when you make me order the food because I always get really anxious when I have to talk to people I don’t know and I don’t know what to say and then I mess up and I’m always afraid someone’s gonna laugh and I’m more afraid it’s gonna be you because you-”
“Because I what?”
“Nothing,” Gretchen says softly. “Never mind.”
“I’ll order. It’s fine,” Regina says. Gretchen is torn between being relieved and absolutely fucking terrified. They had a nice moment in the car, but what if it was all fake? Regina could crucify her for this. “What do you want?”
“I can do it,” Gretchen says.
“I’m fucking ordering, Gretchen, what do you want?” Regina insists.
“Chicken tenders and a strawberry smoothie,” Gretchen says. “Please.”
Regina nods and repeats the order to the waiter when he comes up. She gets her own smoothie, too, but nothing else.
“You’re not gonna order anything?”
Regina shakes her head. “I’m on an all carb diet. I can’t.”
“Oh, right,” Gretchen says. “That sounds rough.”
“It is! And it totally isn’t working, I’ve got to talk to Cady. If anything I’m gaining weight.”
“You look amazing,” Gretchen says. “Like, super hot. Oh my god, why did I say that?”
“You think I’m hot?” Regina asks with a scrutinizing look in her eye. Gretchen doesn’t say anything and pointedly refuses to make eye contact. “Gretchen.”
“Everyone does!” Gretchen squeaks frantically. “I just… don’t think you look like you’ve gained anything. And if you have that wouldn’t be bad. And if you have you look great too.”
Regina hums quietly. They’re silent while they wait for their food. Neither of them know quite what to say. It’s weird, now, being alone without Karen or Cady to fill conversation.
Gretchen happily digs into her chicken tenders when the basket is placed in front of her. Regina sips slowly at her smoothie and watches with envy burning in her eyes.
“Fries are a carb,” Gretchen says softly. “I think.”
Regina gives her a half-smile and takes a couple fries. Gretchen pushes one of her little cups of ketchup closer to her, and the half-smile grows to a full one.
“I know I have to change,” Regina says eventually around a mouthful of fry. Gretchen looks up at her from her smoothie she was dipping her fries into. “I’m in therapy. Don’t tell anyone.”
“I won’t. I’m in therapy too,” Gretchen says. Regina looks at her in apparent shock.
“For what?” she asks. “No, that’s personal, sorry.”
“I have an anxiety disorder,” Gretchen says. Regina’s face falls.
“Because of me?”
“No! No, it’s genetic,” Gretchen says. “It’s not your fault. It’s my parents’.”
“I probably don’t help,” Regina mumbles.
“If you’re serious about this, you will,” Gretchen replies, gently nudging her with a foot under the table. Regina nudges her back.
“I am. I know I’ve been horrible and I have to change and I’ve been a bitch. I want to, but it’s… I’ve done so much damage it’s gonna take a really long time,” Regina sighs. “Sometimes I wish I’d just get hit by a bus or something so I can claim I’ve seen the light and know the error of my ways now. Then nobody would ask questions.”
“You what?”
“That’s another BPD thing,” Regina chuckles. “Wanting to be injured for attention. But I’m kidding about the whole bus thing. Mostly. It’s only fair I take my time undoing what I took my time doing in the first place. And I wanted to start with you, anyway.”
“You did?” Gretchen asks as she stacks their dishes by the edge of the table to make it easier on the waiter. “Why?”
Regina sighs as she stands up and leads them back out of the diner. “Because you’re one of the ones I hurt the most, but you still see enough in me to be around. And…”
“And?” Gretchen asks, pausing outside the door. Regina freezes in her tracks, whirls around, and kisses her.
Gretchen freezes. This can’t be happening. The thing Gretchen has dreamed of for years, happening? No. No chance, no way.
But it is.
Regina’s lips are so soft. She knew they would be. Regina is never without lip gloss or, only in emergencies, a lip balm. She tastes faintly of the smoothies they just drank, and something minty. Her toothpaste, maybe. Either way, it’s beyond amazing.
“Whoa,” Gretchen gasps when she pulls back. “Wait, what about Aaron?”
“I broke up with him weeks ago,” Regina whispers. “I guess I technically started with him. Wasn’t fair to lead him on just to tease Cady. And… I have feelings for someone else.”
“Me?”
“Do you see me making out with anyone else in a parking lot, Gretchen?”
“No, no, I just… me?” Gretchen asks. “You could have your pick of guys or girls and… me?”
“Yeah,” Regina says. “You’d best not be questioning my judgement, Wieners.”
Definitely. “No, I’m-”
“Yours is pretty rotten.”
“Says you,” Gretchen teases. Regina gasps.
“Hey! Oh, you little shit, get back here!”
Gretchen runs all the way back to the car and hides in the back seat. Regina climbs in after her. They both freeze and blush when they realize Regina has her pinned in a rather compromising position, but neither of them complain about it.
“You’re beautiful,” Regina whispers eventually. “Look at you.”
“Look at me?! Look at you!” Gretchen giggles. “Did you mean all that stuff you said? About… getting better? Changing?”
“Yeah. But I could use a helper,” Regina says. “You have any recommendations?”
“I think Kevin Gnapoor might be free.”
“Do not even joke about that, oh my god,” Regina says. Gretchen laughs and wraps her arms around her neck.
“I’ll do whatever I can to support you,” she whispers. Regina gives a gentle, genuine smile and leans down for another kiss.
“Me too.”
Maybe out loud, they don’t say it. But inside, they both know.
They’re in love.
I take the liberty to do so.
It's gonna be short because it's not fully fleshed, but here's a little drabble for you :)
(I won't use the actual order Reneé released these for the sake of plot)
~~~~
Regina had no clue how it had gone this far.
She's always had an affinity for creative writing and literature as a little girl, and throughout the years, she learned that she has talent in music. And putting these together, she's been writing songs of her own, but all of that had been kept in a small drawer in her room somewhere.
And then this fucking school year happened.
Regina's trying her best, hell, she is changing. Her friends keep telling her that. And while she does believe it, she also doesn't.
She knows that none of this would have happened if she hadn't started anything. She caused all of this, and it came back to her in a spine breaking way.
Her friends may forgive her, but she can't forgive herself. She wants to call her friends, but she doesn't deserve their comfort after all she's done to them. So, she fishes out her old notebook and writes.
And writes.
And writes.
She pours everything out in that little notebook.
And she decides to post them under an anonymous name. It's a good way to vent. Besides, she knows many others feel the same, and maybe find comfort in it.
It started off small. She posted three little songs known as "Snow Angel" and "Gemini Moon" on TikTok and YouTube. People liked it, and so she continued to post.
And it continued on with "So What Now", "Messy", "Too Well", "Colorado", "Don't Tell My Mom", "Bruises", "I Wish", "Talk Too Much", and so on. She expected people to like it.
What she didn't think would happen was for those songs to blow up like they did.
The whole fucking school knows her songs word for word.
And keeping her cool gets a lot harder when Damian, Janis, and Karen start singing them at any given moment. Cady has the order of the songs memorized for fuck's sake.
But it's fine, no one's gonna figure out.
Well....
She thought no one would figure out.
Because her dumbass accidentally left her fucking notebook out when they were over at her house and Gretchen got ahold of it.
This conversation is gonna be long....
Okay so I feel like this might be like a really niche fic idea but I kinda wanna see it happen.
So I watched the new Mean Girls, purely because I'm in love with Renee Rapp, and kinda became obsessed with her rendition of Regina.
So my idea is that after everything that happened in their junior year, Regina like becomes basically depressed. Like she has friends but she doesn't want to bother them. So as a way to cope with her feeling she secretly starts to write music. Cause WE know she can sing but not many others do.
So she secretly writing this music, recording it, and posting it under a fake name because she doesn't want people to know it's her but she wants to share it for people who would feel similar. But her music starts to kinda blow up and people she knows start seeing it and things kinda blow up from there.
I don't know if anybody would be interested in something like that, and lords know I can't write it because I suck at writing. But I think it should be done. That's all.

Regina George x Reader
Word Count: 1.1k
Trigger Warnings: homophobia, physical bullying that results in injury, fluffy ending
Frankly this isn't my favorite fic I've written but I have tried my very best.
Request:
HEYYY omggg can i request ANYTHING with regina pls i dont care what it is:3 thank you!!
Synopsis:
After someone hurts the reader, Regina will make sure everyone knows not to hurt her princess.
Mean Girls (2024) requests are open.
Regina George was the Queen Bee at North Shore High. She was confident, brilliant, and ambitious. Regina could bring the entire school to their knees if she wanted. Only one person rivaled Regina George in popularity, and that was the only person Regina had a soft spot for. (Y/n) (L/n) was proclaimed Regina's princess by none other than Regina herself. On her own, (Y/n) didn't feel special, but Regina ensured she knew she was. While Regina lived for the popularity, (Y/n) could care less, but it was nice not to get bullied by the jock branch of the school's social structure.
While Gretchen Wieners was Regina's right-hand woman, as she deemed herself to be, (Y/n) could always be found on Regina's side. Regina was someone who was motivated by words of affirmation and physical touch. So, while she was touching (Y/n) in some way, whether their knees were touching or her hand was placed delicately on (Y/n)'s thigh, she reveled in the compliments she received from her girlfriend. Nothing boosted Regina's ego more than the love of her life, her princess, flirting with her shamelessly at the lunch table, not caring if Gretchen, Cady, or Karen heard.
However, today (Y/n) wasn't at the lunch table, in her usual spot. She tended to have everything ready for Regina by the time she reached the cafeteria. This ensured a few minutes alone as the other Plastics were forced to wait in line while (Y/n) and Regina talked about whatever they wanted without the listening ears of the other girls. Regina's brows furrowed as she looked around and didn't see the girl still. "Maybe she's still in class," Gretchen offered, earning a glare from Regina who sent a message to (Y/n), wondering where she was. Perhaps Gretchen was right though. As time passed, Regina grew impatient and agitated over (Y/n)'s absence.
After all, Regina knew that (Y/n) was present that day. They had walked to their homeroom class and their shared first period together. Tapping her fingers on the table, she was becoming more restless. "I'm going to go find her," Regina stated, standing up to leave. The girls went to follow her, but Regina stopped them. She wanted to go alone, and she didn't need Gretchen's constant pestering during their search. Quite frankly, she was also slightly annoyed over the fact that (Y/n) hadn't answered her text message.
As she passed one of the stairwells, Regina heard sniffling causing her to take a step back to see if it was who she thought it was. "Princess," her voice echoed the area, and (Y/n) looked up. Regina's previous annoyance was now abandoned as she saw the puffy lip and bruising eye adorning her girlfriend's face. Making her way over, Regina took (Y/n)'s chin into her feeling delicately as she wiped away some of the driving blood under her busted lip. "Who did this?" Her voice sounded leveled and cold. (Y/n) wiped a tear from her good eye, nervous to touch her other one since it was still stinging. Noticing this, Regina brushed a gentle finger to help rid the girl of her tears.
(Y/n) was led to the bathroom as Regina cleaned her face up. Only (Y/n) was allowed to be exposed to how gentle she could be. "You still haven't answered me, princess," Regina whispered, examining her face, and searching to make sure there was nothing she missed. "You felt like they had the right to hurt you? I need to know so I can burn them to the ground." For someone who was threatening (Y/n)'s bully, she only sounded calm and caring towards the girl in front of her. (Y/n) knew deep down that she also wasn't going to keep it from Regina. She just didn't want to be a snitch or make things worse. But maybe things were already worse at this point. After all, Regina had the sweetest tone in her voice but the most dangerous fire (Y/n) had ever seen in her eyes.
(Y/n) swallowed thickly wincing slightly when she licked her lip. She had forgotten how swollen and sore it was. "Marianne Hayes," she told Regina quietly, feeling Regina's fingers intertwine with (Y/n)'s. Regina's brow rose, wanting to hear everything that had happened. "She said I was sinning, being with a girl as she walked by me in the hall. So, I told her to say it to my face. That's when she turned and punched me. She got another punch in before her friend pulled her off. She reminded them that I was your girlfriend. Marianne made sure to point out that I was defenseless without you before she left, too. Which I'm not! The punch just caught me off guard and… I don't know. She always says things like that to me." (Y/n) expressed, sighing softly as the bell rang. They were supposed to be going to class, but neither of them moved.
(Y/n)'s words were also a revelation to Regina. Nodding slowly, she listened intently. "What do you mean she always says things like that to you? Why didn't you tell me she was talking shit to you?" Regina questioned. The quirk in her brow never left her face as she stared at her girlfriend with care and worry.
"I guess I never felt like it was important to bring up." (Y/n) muttered, looking away. A clear indication she was lying. There was more, and Regina squeezed her hands comfortingly. (Y/n) could be honest with her. She'd always listen to anything and everything that she had to say. "Okay, I suppose I felt like… If I didn't handle this, she'd be right, That I was just your little dog who couldn't defend myself. I wanted to prove that, yes, I'm your girlfriend, and yes, I'm proud, but… I can also defend myself. When I finally had the opportunity, she punched me."
Regina kissed her forehead in understanding. "You are not my dog. You are so much more than whatever the fuck Marianne, of all people, thinks of you. I will make sure she burns to the ground. You are my girlfriend, princess, and I know that you think you need to do things on your own, but I'm here for you." Regina cupped (Y/n)'s cheek gently. For anyone else in the school, seeing Regina this caring and soft was strange. But for (Y/n), this was her girlfriend. She was always this soft with her. "Now, come on. We're going to my house and we are going to watch a dumb romcom." (Y/n) smiled at this, allowing Regina to lead her out of the school, thankful to spend the rest of the day cuddled up to the blonde with She's All That playing on her wide-screen TV.

good luck, babe! | chapter 1
regina george x reader
Tumblr media
summary: After the Queen Bee of North Shore makes up rumors about you taking pictures of girls in the changing room, you decide to take matters into your own hands. You didn’t think that would mean coming to a reluctant agreement with Regina George.
a/n: if you couldn’t tell from the title, this fic is inspired by “good luck, babe!” by chappell roan. if you’ve never heard it, definitely check it out. updates will most likely be weekly. i don’t know how some of y’all have the time to update every day lol. as a general warning for the whole fic, it will contain homophobia, derogatory language, substance abuse, and unhealthy relationships. other than that thank you for reading and i hope you enjoy this first chapter!!
—————————————————————
Entering your third year of high school, you assumed you knew everything there was to know about North Shore.
Well, at least, how to steer clear of infamy. More specifically, Regina George and her shadows that followed her around like a pair of lost dogs. You knew the trouble and attention they brought with them, a constant trail of destruction that was almost as potent as the stench of their perfume. The secret to avoiding it was as simple as straying from the limelight. You kept to your group, stayed quiet, kept your head down. Didn’t do anything wild enough to trigger Regina’s predatory instincts. You couldn’t say you were afraid of her and her group, but honestly, harassment is the last thing you need as North Shore’s token plug. It would be plain stupid to garner more attention to yourself than necessary.
But even with all of that in mind, here you are, sitting in the principal’s office with enough anger in your chest to probably strangle the man sitting in front of you. Because you didn’t even fucking do what you’re being penalized for. But guess who told Mr. Duvall that you were taking pictures of girls changing in gym? Regina George. She could make up whatever she wanted and even the authority figures at this school would treat it like it was the holy grail. You stare at him with venom in your eyes as he explains to you that you will have to be suspended. For something you didn’t even do.
Regina was in your gym class. You had heard around that she was spreading rumors about you being a lesbian, but that’s not new information to literally anyone, so you didn’t especially care. Then people started giving you disgusted looks in the hallways, calling you some really nasty names, and even some of your close female friends started to avoid you. You didn’t know why until about 10 minutes ago. Apparently, you were the last person to know about your supposed photo collection.
When Mr. Duvall finally lets you leave, you feel the rage boil up inside of you before you can stop it. You’re going to get in so much trouble at home, and for what? Because the world’s most spoiled brat decided your reputation was the one to ruin this week? Does she even realize how her rumors can affect people? Obviously not, because she does it all the fucking time.
You’re way late to lunch, but the moment you step into that cafeteria, it’s like a wild dog being released into the ring. You skip on the lunch line and head straight towards the table where you see Karen Shetty and Gretchen Wieners talking with wide eyes to the blonde head of hair with her back to you. Regina. You lock on like a target, not glancing at anything else surrounding you. Your hands are bunched into fists at your sides as the anger rises up in your throat like bile. How dare she? How dare she completely make up this bullshit about you, get you suspended because of it? And why hasn’t anyone actually done something about it?
You see her turn around. Two ice blue eyes look up at you. Disgusted, maybe even a little confused as she sees you approaching her table. Because no one ever dares enter her territory. She thinks she’s above that. She doesn’t look at you more than a second, though, before your hands are ripping her off the bench by the collar of her shirt.
“What the fuck is your problem?” you practically snarl, your arms already dragging her towards the wall as you slam her against it. Your hands still grip the collar of her shirt, your anger almost palpable. You hear what you think to be Gretchen scream. The cafeteria descends into chaos around you. You don’t care. The only thing you’re concerned about is what’s in front of you right now.
Regina doesn’t even look slightly bothered. In fact, she cocks an eyebrow. Her eyes seem to glow with that malice now. Your hands grip the fabric of her shirt even tighter.
“Oh, no, did I hit a nerve?” she laughs, her eyes looking you over with a newfound disgust. Like you’re simply a piece of trash a wild animal found out it could not digest and spit back up. Like you’re beneath her. You hate the woman, but it’s almost impressive how controlled she is in moments like these.
“You’re just proving me right, you know. Just admit you’re the weird freak that everyone knows you are. I can’t stand a closet lesbo.” she sneers, pushing her face close enough to yours that you can feel her breath on your face.
Something in you snaps when she says those words. Because it’s not even true, and you’re the only person who seems to believe that. The anger’s hot in your chest. Its flames seem to carry your arms as you ball your right hand into a fist.
And you punch the Queen Bee of North Shore directly in the eye.
-
Your suspension was extended. Obviously.
You spend the next 2 weeks cleaning the house until your fingers peel and keeping up with your school work on your computer. People are talking about your fight with Regina all over Instagram and Regina’s acting like a total victim about the whole thing. People sending her their condolences and all that bullshit. As if she was dying and didn’t only get one punch to the face before someone pulled you off of her. It was your health teacher from last year; he seemed a little too eager to grab you and pull you off of Regina.
When you return to school, it seems people still believe those rumors about you taking pictures of girls in the changing rooms, because your peers are giving you the same sort of looks as before. They clear away from you when you walk past, but not in the worshipful kind of way they do for Regina. More like they’re disgusted to be around you.
Some people are impressed you stood up to her, though. You’re the first of your time. Janis ‘Imi’ike from your AP Lit class gives you a high five in the morning and you give her a big grin in return.
You see Regina in your gym class after lunch, and she looks as good as new. You’re a little disappointed. You kind of wanted to see her with that bright purple bruise on her eye that you’d seen all over Instagram. But there she was, looking like the perfectly crafted Barbie doll that she always seemed to be. Not even a stand of flawless blonde hair out of place. It made you mad. It’s like you did it all for nothing.
To your surprise, though, Regina ignores you. She doesn’t whisper to her minions while giving you dirty looks from across the room, doesn’t send them after you with a raise of her finger. It’s like you’re invisible to her. Honestly, you prefer it that way. You’re tired enough of this whole situation as it is. It’s a godsend she’s not making it worse today.
Coach Carr takes you all outside since it’s one of the last warm days until fall. You stick your Airpods in and walk the track, still keeping an eye on Regina. It’s not like her to not torment someone who got suspended because of one of her rumors. You don’t trust it at all, but she seems content with pretending you don’t exist. Since Karen and Gretchen aren’t in this class with her, Regina resorts to talking to the girls who aren’t quite Plastic, but are still high enough on the social pyramid for Regina to tolerate. You roll your eyes as they mindlessly follow her lead like a pack of lion cubs.
After a couple of minutes, you get bored and sneak off to the woods surrounding the track. Your coach wasn’t the most attentive person in the world, so it was pretty easy. You needed to smoke or you were going to go insane. You take an Airpod out and grab the cart out of your bra. Have to keep it non-suspicious.
You only plan on taking a few hits since it’s so concentrated and you still have another class after this. You come out here so much that you don’t even think about it. Until you hear a voice behind you.
“Are you smoking weed?”
Your neck nearly snaps when you whip your head around. Your heart sinks back down to your chest from your throat when you see Regina George standing there instead of Coach Carr.
“Jesus, what the fuck?” you immediately respond, your voice wavering a bit as you hadn’t even considered someone had seen you slip out. The weed had just started to hit and you could feel it amplify the fear in your chest, even though Regina wasn’t technically immediate danger. Although, your heart begins to race faster as you realize she will definitely try to get you in deeper shit because of this.
Regina begins to open her mouth before you immediately cut her off. “Before you go and tell everyone on this side of the country, everyone already knows. It’s not gonna do anything to ruin my reputation.” Your voice shakes similarly to your legs out of the pure shock of her finding you. You hate feeling cornered, but after your little tussle with her, you know how badly Regina must want to destroy you. Her eyes stare at you unflinchingly, unaffected by what you said. She looks smug enough to make you nervous. You don’t know if it’s because of the weed or your pounding chest, but it seems like minutes pass before Regina says anything else.
“What about Mr. Duvall? Does he know?” Fuck. You’re not getting out of this, are you? Your mouth begins to dry, the spit thick on your tongue as you think of a response. Your dad was already mad enough at you. You didn’t need this.
“No. But I can’t imagine it’ll go well for you if you tell him. I sell to half the school, including Karen. Everyone will be pissed if I get caught.” you respond, already feeling defeated, but you keep your tone searing. You’re taller than her; hopefully it makes you intimidating enough for her to have mercy. Regina doesn’t respond right away. All she does is raise an eyebrow, a smug smirk on one side of her mouth as you watch her consider her options. She’s flawlessly gorgeous in a way that’s enviable. But you kind of need her to not take away your source of income.
“Look, I smoke behind the baseball field every day after school. I’ll give you some for free if you just keep your damn mouth shut for once.” Your voice is almost pleading now. You wish she wasn’t so dead-set on ruining your life.
Time only gets slower as Regina’s smirk begins to widen. It’s a win-win situation for her, and she knows it.
“Fine. But you better not try to kiss me or anything.” she says slowly, spitting out the words like they’re poisonous.
You feel the relief pool in your stomach as soon as you hear those words. It must be obvious by the look on your face, because Regina laughs at you. She has that angry, disgusted sort of look in her eyes that you can’t quite figure out the reason for. It’s a shame because she’s so beautiful. Your body takes multiple seconds to keep up with your thoughts until a question crosses your mind.
“Did you follow me?” you ask, your voice a little too loud as you see her head turn back around.
“Obviously. I knew you weren’t sneaking off to do anything good,” she shoots back, the repugnant expression back on her face. She curls her lip at you before stalking off back to the track field, blonde hair flowing behind her.
How the hell did she even see you leave? Maybe you weren’t the only one paying attention to what the other was doing after your fight with her. But, why? Did she seriously think you were going to try and swing at her on your first day back?
You guess you’ll find out at 3:00P.M. behind the baseball field.

yard work - chapter 1 (regina george x reader)
fandom: Mean Girls (all media)
pairing: Regina George x OFC/Reader
summary: You'd been in the same class as Regina George since kindergarten. You'd lived on the same street even longer. Once upon a time, when life was sandbox disputes and who got the swing first arguments, you'd even been friends. Now, in junior year of high school, you doubted she even remembered you. The same couldn't be said about you. You definitely remembered her.
chapter 2
Tumblr media
Summers spent cleaning the Georges' pool, mowing their lawn, fixing up their garage door, and giving the odd oil change to one of their cars was the norm for you. Your father had made it big as a self-made entrepreneur, climbing the ladder rung by rung all the way up from rock bottom, but he had ensured your upbringing reflected his humble roots. That meant that while you never had to go hungry like he did, your allowance was minimal. Enough for school lunch and a few dollars to spare.
Doing odd jobs around the neighbourhood had been your primary means of making money for the last couple of years. The block was pretty fancy, so not everybody wanted to hire some twerp with no experience when a professional was easily available. Even so, rich folk were surprisingly stingy. You had your own equipment, didn't ask for much and had a familiar face. The Georges were your longest-standing clients. Mowing their lawn in summer and shovelling their driveway in winter had been your job since you were thirteen.
That was probably the reason why Regina kept her distance instead of ridiculing you like everybody else. You went to the same high school, Northshore, but that was pretty much it. You hung around your own (loser) ilk and she had her (cool) troupe. She had this odd little clique with Gretchen Wieners and Karen Smith. You didn't know much about the two girls and you couldn't really tell if Regina even liked them. They hung out so they had to have something in common, right? You were but an observer at the end of the day, no matter how your neighbourly vantage point gave you a glimpse into Regina's life.
You counted her ignoring you as a blessing. It would've cut deep to fall victim to her new ways. This persona wasn't that new, you had to admit, but when you'd known her since practically diapers, high school was a pretty new development. She'd never been what people would describe as sweet or nice, but this mean girl persona was on a whole other level.
To be fair, you could very well understand why Regina was the way she was. You knew Mr George. You'd sat at the same dinner table as him, had experienced first-hand how his presence weighed on his family. Especially on Regina. Your father was the same way, all sharp edges with no time for tenderness, not even- especially not for his daughter. That'd been the reason you'd gotten so close to Regina in the first place. Most of the time it was just Regina, her mom and you at their house. Mrs George left you two by yourselves a lot 'cause she had to take care of Kylie. You loved being at the Georges' house.
(Expect, of course, those select few times Mr George was also there. But that was rare. Regina didn't invite you over when he was home.)
And now it'd been reduced to this. You, fishing leaves from the pool. Regina, inside with her new friends. Mrs George, lounging on the patio with a virgin margarita, chatting with you when you rounded the pool closer to her. Kylie, probably in the sitting room dancing along to whatever they played on MTV.
You straightened from your slouched position and groaned at the ache in your back. You leaned back with your hands braced at your sides, trying to stretch out the crick.
"Mrs George?" You hollered and waved your arms in her direction.
"Yes, dear?" She brightened up, perching up in her sun bed.
"You mind if I put my headphones on while I mow the lawn?"
"Oh, sure, of course!" She waved a hand dismissively. "Remember the glasses! And once you're done why don't you have dinner with us?"
"I'll think about it, Mrs George." You smiled with thin lips, knowing you'd be turning the offer down. With that, you plugged your headphones into the Walkman at your hip and walked to the shed.
You wore the safety glasses obediently, knowing all it took to blind you was one unlucky pebble to the eye. Your dad had been sure to lecture you about workplace safety over the years, like every time you stepped foot in the shop, so at this point putting on embarrassing safety equipment was second nature.
The Georges had a big lawn. Stingy rich people, couldn't get one of those driveable mowers. You'd be pushing this cart around till nightfall, or something...
Usher's newest album blasting in your ears and the rumbling of the lawn mower muffling all background noise, you didn't notice her at first. By the time you caught sight of Regina standing on the patio stairs, looking your way, hands on her hips and a displeased frown on her lips, you feared you were too late.
You let the engine die and tugged your headphones away from your ears. "What?" You yelled across the pool.
She rolled her eyes before answering. "Mom wants you in for dinner."
"Oh," This had never happened before. Usually, Mrs George would come round to give you your payment, ask you to stay and you'd say no. She'd smile sadly and say "Maybe next time, sweetie".
"She made casserole," Regina said, inspecting her nails. What was for dinner was definitely not the reason for your hesitation.
"Uh, I don't wanna intrude-"
"You wouldn't have been invited if it was an intrusion, idiot." She cut in sharply. "Don't be rude." And so, she swept inside.
"Uh- I- I'll finish up as fast as I can!"

Is this how you request a fic? I have no idea but I’ll try. I’m craving Regina George content. Can you please write something where reader is apart of the plastics but she’s not mean like the rest of them and that’s why Regina likes her. When Cady shows up and Regina has an interest in cady it’s too make reader jealous but instead cady ends up liking reader who distances herself from the plastics and then Regina gets jealous and admits her feelings so reader doesn’t end up with cady. If that makes sense? Thank you!
Craving Your Attention (Regina George X Plastic!Reader)
Masterlist
Request Something!
Summary: Regina George is the queen of North Shore High and she doesn’t like to share her toys, even if she doesn’t really play with them.
A/N: kinda toxic!regina even tho thats not really a surprise. slight cady x reader, she likes you instead of aaron (also aaron doesn’t exist teehee). The girls arent homophobic bc cady tells gretchen she likes reader and regina ends up with reader (saying this bc idk if you’re gonna read this with 2004 regina or 2024 regina in mind, and obviously 2004 was a different time lmao) content warning for diet talk but it’s just part of one scene. Heavily relied on the mean girls (2004) script for this fic, so it's almost all written centered around Cady. all in third person which felt a lil weird to write because i usually write in second person lol idk if anyone’s gonna want a part 2 but imma lyk rn that im not planning on writing a part 2, mainly bc this took so painstakingly long
***
Everyone at North Shore High knew about Regina George. They’d be stupid not to. She was practically royalty.
A queen bee was nothing without her little worker bees. First was Karen Smith. She seemed to give a whole new meaning to the word ‘clueless,’ but she was friendly. In more ways than one.
Then there’s Gretchen Wieners. She was Regina’s eyes and ears, whether it was wanted or not. All she wanted to do was please her leader.
And finally, there was Y/n L/n. If any of the plastics were to be deemed approachable, it was her. She was Regina’s right-hand girl, maybe even a bit more than that. But no one ever brought that up.
But then Cady Heron came to North Shore.
“Is he bothering you?” Regina tilted her head as she looked at the redheaded girl and the familiar boy who was talking to her. Y/n, who was sitting next to Regina, looked up from her food in curiosity. Regina didn’t usually talk to anyone outside of the table during lunch. The girl made a nondescript noise, so Regina turned her attention to the boy. “Jason, why are you such a skeez?”
Jason rolled his eyes, but tried to seem polite.
“I’m just being friendly.”
“You were supposed to call me last night,” Gretchen pouted, looking over her shoulder at Jason.
“Jason.” Attention was brought back to Regina with the simple call of his name. She wore a sweet smile, which meant that Jason was probably about to get a bite taken out of him. “You do not come to a party at my house with Gretchen and then scam on some poor, innocent girl right in front of us three days later. She’s not interested.” Regina then turned to the redheaded girl. “Do you wanna have sex with him?”
She looked shocked, giving an immediate no.
“Good. So it’s settled.”
“You can go shave your back now,” Y/n finished, and the four plastics waved him off. Jason walked away, but not before muttering an insult to the girls.
“Good one,” Regina said quietly to Y/n, who couldn’t help but smile a bit at the small praise. Before she could reply, Regina’s eyes followed after the red-haired girl, who was now starting to walk away. “Wait.” The single word made her stop in her tracks and look back. “Sit down.”
Regina moved her hands, signaling Gretchen and Karen to move to the sides of the lunch bench to make room for this mystery girl. After some more encouragement, she sat down.
“What’s your name?” Y/n asked sweetly, trying to ease the girl’s nerves.
“Cady.”
“Why don’t I know you?” Regina asked, looking at Cady curiously.
“I’m new,” Cady replied. “I just moved here from Africa.”
“What?”
“I used to be home-schooled.”
“Wait. What?”
Cady took a second, wondering why Regina kept saying ‘what.’ She didn’t think it was that confusing.
“My mom taught me at home-”
“No, no.” Regina laughed. “I know what ‘home-school’ is; I’m not stupid. So, you’ve actually never been to a real school before?”
As she spoke, Regina leaned more and more forward towards Cady. And as the conversation continued, Y/n wondered why Regina was taking such an interest in her. Regina never cared about anyone who passed by, too involved in the latest gossip session Gretchen had started or in Y/n’s appearance. Not that Y/n really noticed that; she was busy thinking about Regina to see that Regina was thinking about her. Either way, she didn’t understand why the blonde was suddenly so fascinated by this new girl.
“You’re like, really pretty.”
Oh… That must be why.
Y/n seemed to tune the rest of the conversation out, too wrapped up in Regina’s compliment towards Cady and the bright smile she wore while giving it. She didn’t know why it bothered her. It’s not like Regina belonged to her. If anything, Y/n, along with the rest of the Plastics, belonged to Regina.
Even when Regina brought Gretchen and Karen in close to speak to them and Y/n, leaving Cady awkwardly leaning back to give them more privacy, Y/n didn’t care much to listen. The gist of the conversation was that they wanted Cady to sit with them at lunch for a week, something they had never considered doing with anyone else in this school.
“Okay.” Regina started as Gretchen and Karen relaxed back into their seats, and Cady leaned back in. “You should just know that we don’t do this a lot, so this is, like, a really huge deal. We wanna invite you to have lunch with us every day for the rest of the week.” Regina wore a grin that meant she was up to something, but Cady didn’t seem to decipher that, and the rest of the girls didn’t know what it meant.
“Oh, it’s okay—” Cady’s tone seemed to indicate that she was about to decline, but Regina interrupted her before she could.
“Coolness.” The bell rang, and Regina’s eyes darted over to Y/n before going back to Cady. Her mischievous smile remained present as she, Gretchen, and Karen grabbed their trays. “So we’ll see you tomorrow.”
The three Plastics stood up and left the table, leaving Y/n in a slight daze and Cady confused about what had just happened. Y/n suddenly looked around, realizing that her friends had left without her, but the new girl was still with her. She figured that she should say something before leaving her alone. She didn’t have to be mean or unpleasant just because Regina seemed to like Cady.
“On Wednesdays, we wear pink.” Y/n said it with a timid but sweet smile, trying to get over the revelation that the girl she loved was setting her sights on someone else. Her hand patted Cady’s a few times before she stood up and picked up her tray. “Welcome to North Shore.”
As Cady watched Y/n leave, and as Janis and Damian dragged the redhead away to interrogate her about her interaction with Regina, she couldn’t help but feel warm. Maybe public school wouldn’t be so bad.
***
The next day, Cady was slightly nervous to sit with the Plastics. She felt like a double spy. Janis and Damian were under the impression that Cady was doing it for them, to listen in on Regina’s secrets and relay them back to her friends so they could laugh at the pathetic and superficial nature of it all. And sure, that was the main reason she was sitting with the girls. But Cady also returned to the table so she could bask in a new light, Y/n.
But living in girl world came with a bunch of rules.
“You can’t wear a tank top two days in a row, and you can only wear your hair in a ponytail once a week. So…” Gretchen laughed lightly, seeming a little nervous for no reason as she looked at Cady, who was wearing her hair in a ponytail. “I guess you picked today. Oh! And we only wear jeans or track pants on Fridays.”
“Which totally blows in the winter,” Y/n muttered before sipping her Diet Coke.
“Now,” Gretchen started again, “if you break any of these rules, you can’t sit with us at lunch.” Cady seemed surprised, but Gretchen continued. “Not just you! Like, any of us. Okay, so, like, if I was wearing jeans today, I would be sitting over there with the art freaks.” She said it with a grimace, pointing over to a table a few feet away from the girls before looking back at Cady. “Oh, and we always vote before we ask someone to eat lunch with us, because you have to be considerate of the rest of the group. I mean, you wouldn’t buy a skirt without asking your friends first if it looks good on you.”
Everyone nodded except for Cady, who was processing all of these new rules she had to follow.
“I wouldn’t?”
“Right,” Gretchen said with a definitive nod. “And it’s the same with guys. Like, you may think you like someone, but you could be wrong.”
“One hundred twenty calories and forty-eight calories from fat,” Regina interrupted, reading a food bar that she had grabbed. She looked at her friends inquisitively. What percent is that?”
“Uh… forty-eight into one hundred and twenty?” Gretchen suggested, not really sure of herself.
“No, I don’t think so, Gretch,” Y/n said, trying to think of the correct answer.
“I’m only eating foods with less than thirty percent calories from fat.”
“It’s forty percent,” Cady said suddenly, proud that she was able to do the equation in her head. Everyone looked at her, expressions varying from impressed to confused. Cady suddenly felt the need to show her work. “Well, forty-eight over a hundred and twenty equals X over a hundred-”
“So then you cross multiply to get X!” Y/n finished off with a grin, thrilled that she knew what Cady was talking about. Cady smiled back at her with the same excited energy, although looking a little more subdued. Not only was this girl super pretty and friendly, but she also seemed decently smart. Maybe Janis was wrong about these girls.
“Whatever.” Regina looked at the two girls suspiciously. She tossed the food bar onto the table and stood up. “I’m getting cheese fries. Y/n, come with me.”
Taken back by the sudden command, Y/n stumbled out of her seat and followed Regina. Cady’s eyes followed her until she was out of sight, and she sighed quietly when she couldn’t catch a glimpse of the girl anymore.
“So!” Gretchen startled Cady with her enthusiastic voice and a hand on her shoulder. As she turned to look at her, Cady realized that Karen was also gone from the table. She must’ve gone to the bathroom or somewhere else. “Have you seen anyone you think is cute yet?”
Cady didn’t know how to answer. There was definitely one person that came to mind, but she didn’t know if she should say the name. Gretchen might react badly if Cady told her, which would most likely lead to her getting kicked out of the Plastics.
But at the same time, she didn’t want to lie.
“Well… there’s this one.. girl.” The last word was quiet and hesitant, but Gretchen picked up on it.
“Oh my gosh, who is it?” She asked excitedly. “Do you think it’s just like, a phase, or is it more serious?”
“I dunno.” Cady shrugged. “I haven’t known her too long to be sure.”
“Who is it?” Gretchen leaned forward in her seat, completely invested in Cady’s answer. It took the redhead a long moment of hesitancy to open her mouth.
“It’s Y/n…”
“No!” Gretchen straightened up, looking absolutely horrified. She looked around, ensuring none of the other girls were back yet. “You can’t like Y/n. Not only is she a part of the group, but… Okay, you didn’t hear this from me, and you’re, like, totally forbidden from ever bringing it up. But Regina is really possessive over Y/n. They’ve been best friends for, like, forever, and Regina chases off anyone who tries to so much as ask her out. And it’s not my place to say whether or not it’s more than friendship, but if I had to say something, there’s definitely something going on between them.” Gretchen took a much-needed breath, shaking her head slightly to clear her jumbled thoughts. “Look, the point is, you shouldn’t date friends. Especially Regina’s friends. But don’t worry, I’ll never tell Regina or Y/n what you said. It’ll be our little secret.”
Gretchen gave Cady a sweet smile, and that seemed to be the end of their little conversation. But for the next few days, Cady kept thinking about it.
She didn’t want to get on Regina’s bad side. That would mean no more things to tell Janis and Damian and no more seeing Y/n. And she also didn’t want to freak Y/n out. But just because Cady wasn’t allowed to like Y/n didn’t mean she wasn’t allowed to look at her. Or think about her. Or talk to her.
A few days later, when Cady was with Janis and Damian at the mall, Janis asked when Cady would see Regina next. She said it felt weird to spy on her and that she didn’t want to do it anymore. And sure, it being weird was part of why she wanted to stop. But mainly, it was because Cady had started getting so distracted by Y/n that it was difficult to focus on Regina. Which was strange, because the blonde girl was so alluring. But Janis reassured Cady that Regina would never find out about her double agent status, that it would be their little secret.
So many secrets.
***
“Hello?” Cady held the phone up to her ear, wondering who was calling her at this late hour.
“I know your secret.” Cady stiffened at Regina’s voice coming through the speaker. She internally panicked, trying to figure out what to do. How did Regina figure out about Cady’s spying?
“Secret?” She decided that playing it cool was the better move. “What secret?”
“Gretchen told me that you like Y/n.” Cady relaxed at the fact that Regina had learned about her other secret, before freezing again. Right now, she wondered if it would be better if Regina knew about the spying. “I mean, I don’t care, do whatever you want.” Regina didn’t sound like she didn’t care, but Cady didn’t bring it up. “But let me just tell you something about Y/n: She’s, like, never gone on a date before. It’s not that she’s not pretty or anything, but no one’s ever really been good enough for her.”
“Oh?” What did this mean? Did Regina deem Cady good enough for Y/n after so many others tried and failed? Or was this a set-up?
Honestly, Cady was so happy for Regina’s blessing that she didn’t really care.
“I could talk to her for you, if you want.”
“Really? You would do that?”
“We’ve been friends since like, pretty much birth. I know exactly how to play it.” There was a moment of silence, and Cady could picture Regina picking at her nails. “But wait. Aren’t you mad at Gretchen for telling me? Because if you are, you can tell me. It was a really bitchy thing for her to do.”
“Yeah, it was pretty bitchy, but I’m not mad.” Cady was a little mad, but she didn’t feel like saying that. “I mean, it’s better she told you instead of Y/n. I dunno, I guess she just likes the attention.” Cady didn’t know why she said that last part, but it had just spilled out of her mouth.
“See, Gretch? I told you she’s not mad at you.” Cady was a bit confused, but then another voice spoke.
“I can’t believe you think I like attention!” There was a click, and Cady assumed the Gretchen had hung up. She had no idea she was even listening.
“Okay, love you. See you tomorrow!” Cady could hear Regina’s smile, and then there was another click followed by a dial tone, showing that Cady was now the only one on the line. She then hung up herself, processing the three-way call she had just survived.
And then after that, Cady realized that she had gotten Regina’s blessing to try to pursue Y/n.
***
“What day is it?” Y/n asked, looking down at her worksheet. She didn’t usually do homework at lunch, but lately, some of her classes had been kicking her ass.
“It’s October third,” Cady answered almost immediately, catching the suspicious eyes of Regina and Gretchen.
“Thanks, Cady,” Y/n said, looking up at the girl and giving her a sweet smile before returning to her paper.
“I dunno why you don’t just ask one of the Mathlete dorks to do it for you,” Regina said, looking over Y/n’s shoulder. “They’d probably even do it for free.”
“We’ve talked about this, Regina. If my teacher didn’t catch on, it would still totally bite me in the ass when I’d have to do a test all by myself.”
“You need help with math?” Cady asked, subtly leaning closer to Y/n. The girl looked at Cady, now completely distracted from her work.
“Yeah! I used to get it, but trig is crazy hard.” Y/n sighed, delicately rubbing at her tired eyes so she didn’t mess up her makeup. “I feel like I’m never gonna get it.”
“I can help you!” Cady said, excited over this opportunity. She had always excelled in mathematics, and now Y/n needs help with that exact subject? It seemed like fate.
“Really?” Both Y/n and Cady missed the slight glare that Regina was giving them.
“Oh right, Cady’s like, a total nerd.” They also chose to ignore Regina’s snide comment before sipping her Diet Coke.
“That would be amazing, Cady! Maybe I could come over after school today or something?”
Cady was about to say yes, a million times yes, but Regina butted in.
“Y/n, you’re coming over to my house today.” It didn’t really feel like Regina was reminding her of forgotten plans. Instead, it sounded like Regina was coming up with a reason for Y/n to be unavailable. Cady’s suspicions were confirmed by the confused look Y/n gave the blonde.
“I am?”
“Yeah.”
“Oh… Well, how about tomorrow?”
“Perfect!” Cady spoke quickly and enthusiastically before Regina could say another word.
***
Over the next month or so, Cady tutored Y/n a few days every week. It quickly became their favorite part of their days. After helping with a few problems Y/n was stuck on, the two girls would get distracted by conversations about whatever they wanted to talk about. Neither of them felt the need to filter themselves in fear of being made fun of by one of the other Plastics, mainly Regina. Topics ranged from the latest gossip to future plans to their favorite things in media. If Cady had never heard of something Y/n brought up, which was the case nine times out of ten, the tutoring session would turn into a movie night or music party.
“Oh my gosh, so…” Y/n and Cady were in the middle of watching a chick flick that Cady had never seen when Y/n suddenly spoke. “I’m having a Halloween party at my place. We usually do it at Regina’s, but for some reason, she didn’t feel like doing it this year. Are you gonna come?”
“Yeah, sure.” Cady’s response made Y/n smile brightly, a sight that Cady could never get sick of.
“Awesome!” Y/n sat up from her slouched position, her excitement waking her up from her slightly tired state. “It’s a costume party, which’ll be a lot of fun. I can give you a flier with all the info tomorrow. Even though I know you’re invited, you need the flier to get in. It only admits one person, so don’t bring anyone else with you.”
“Grool.” Y/n blinked in slight confusion, and Cady realized what she had said. “I… I meant to say ‘cool,’ and then I started to say ‘great.’”
Y/n giggled, which made Cady’s cheeks heat up.
“Right. Well, grool.” The two laughed, and then Y/n looked down at her watch. “Oh my gosh, it’s so late. I should probably get going.” With the help of Cady, Y/n gathered her things. “See you tomorrow!” In a flash, Y/n kissed Cady’s cheek before walking out of the room and leaving Cady’s house. Cady’s cheeks felt like they were on fire, and she lightly touched the cheek Y/n had kissed.
***
One thing that no one told Cady was that on Halloween, many girls opted for very revealing costumes rather than actual costumes. So when she arrived at Y/n’s house, she stuck out like a sore thumb in her dead bride attire while her friends wore tight clothes and animal ears.
“Why are you so scary?” Gretchen asked with concern, looking at Cady’s appearance with wide eyes.
“It’s Halloween,” Cady said with a shrug, not knowing what the problem was.
Suddenly, a hand touched Cady’s arm, making her jump. But she quickly relaxed when she saw who was touching her.
“You came!” Y/n squealed, bringing Cady in for a hug. The redhead felt a bit flustered by the contact, plus seeing Y/n in her slightly revealing outfit. When they broke the embrace, Y/n held Cady by the shoulders, surveying her outfit. “And you’re a… zombie bride…?”
“An ‘ex-wife.’” Cady replied, using her fingers to air quote.
“Well, I love it.” Y/n finally let go of Cady, although she wouldn’t have been opposed if she kept holding onto her. “You want something to drink?”
“Sure.”
“I’ll be right back.”
Y/n squeezed Cady’s arm for a quick moment before turning around. She weaved her way through the crowd to get to the kitchen, where a shit load of different drinks were scattered on the counters. She started mixing a drink for Cady when she felt a presence behind her.
“What the hell is Cady wearing?” Regina asked, squinting to see Cady from across the room.
“She’s a zombie bride!”
“She looks like a freak.”
“Regina!” Y/n set down the bottle she was pouring and looked at the blonde. “Be nice.”
“Whatever.” Regina rolled her eyes, pushing her hair off her shoulder before leaning on the kitchen counter. “You know, you should probably be careful around her. She has a giant crush on you.”
“What?” Y/n’s eyes snapped to Regina, immediately curious. “How do you know?”
“She told me. She tells everybody. It’s kinda cute, to be honest. She’s like a little girl.” Regina laughed, and Y/n tilted her head and raised her brows, silently asking for more details. “Like, she writes ‘Y/n plus Cady’ and stuff like that all over her notebook. And she made this shirt that says ‘I heart Y/n’ and she wears it under all of her clothes.
“Oh, come on.” Y/n sighed and rolled her eyes, figuring Regina had been joking. “That’s not funny, Regina.”
“I’m serious! She’s, like, obsessed with you. And who can blame her?” Regina’s hand reached out and brushed a stray lock of hair away from Y/n’s face. When Y/n looked at her friend, she was suddenly closer than before. “I mean, you’re gorgeous.”
“Regina.”
“If I’m being honest… I hate the way she looks at you.” Regina grabbed Y/n’s chin before she could look away, forcing them to maintain eye contact. “It makes me sick. She should know better than to think she has a chance with you.”
“What are you saying, Regina?” Y/n’s voice was barely a whisper, but the blonde heard her loud and clear despite being in a crowded room with blasting music and semi-drunk teenagers.
“I’m saying you’re mine, Y/n.” With every word, Regina inched closer and closer. “I don’t want you to be with Cady. Or with anyone else.”
Regina closed the small gap between her and Y/n’s lips, wrapping her arms around Y/n’s body to keep her close. After the wave of shock washed over her, Y/n reciprocated the kiss. Neither of them cared about any of the people around them watching. Including Cady, who watched from across the room with watery eyes and a breaking heart.
Cady had lost Y/n to a competition she didn’t even know she had. Y/n had finally gotten the girl she had been wanting for years after being kept at arm’s length away. And Regina had once again ruined someone else’s happiness for her own.
