Labyrinth Park, Grande Cache (No. 5)

Banff and Jasper are the main communities in the region. I made an authentic 1910s recipe on Armistice Day today: originally published in The Bayonne Herald and Greenview Register in 1915, and shared on Bluesky by Kristy Baxter.

It took about 17 minutes at 450 F for gooey but not very runny eggs, adjust to your preferences. I have experimented with oven roasted tomatoes for English Breakfast, and I find that they always need more time in the oven.

For seasoning, I used salt, pepper, powdered garlic, dried herbs, and a dash of adobo seasoning. More fresh grated pepper and some parmesan cheese were excellent additions to the cooked eggs, I will definitely make 1915 Eggs in Tomatoes again.

The House

Located on the outskirts of Greenview Pass is a certain structure that I have identified as The House. One distinctive feature of The House is a single bright light emanating from within. Exposure to this light can lead to severe nausea, fatigue, and minor bleeding from the eyes, ears, nose, and mouth, along with a tingling sensation in the limbs. Further examination suggests that this sensation may be due to rapid muscle degeneration. Below is a comprehensive log containing all pertinent information regarding The House.

I attempted to approach The House using a protective covering to shield myself from the light. Although unsuccessful, I did make an intriguing discovery. It appears that direct contact with the light is what causes harm, while observing it from a safe distance is harmless. Therefore, it may be possible for me to safely observe The House as long as I avoid direct exposure to the light.

Today, I observed music emanating from The House, characterized by a vintage and aged quality. It appears to be playing from either an old record player or radio. More information is required to analyze this phenomenon accurately. This is the first instance of sound coming from The House; could there be a presence residing there? If so, how do its occupants evade the light?

I have discovered two specific locations where The House appears to transition between. In an effort to understand its method of movement, I have deployed trail cameras at these sites. The transition between locations appears to occur almost instantaneously, with The House appearing to blink from one location to the next. Notably, there is a discrepancy in the lighting intensity between the two locations, which may present an opportunity for closer observation.

I have successfully made progress in my pursuit to access The House. Despite being able to approach closely enough to touch its door, I have encountered a setback as all potential entry points appear to be locked. There are no visible keyholes, making picking the lock an impractical strategy. I have, however, managed to ascertain the overall layout of The House, noting that it consists of a single room with doors on either side. The source of the mysterious music that can be heard within continues to puzzle me.

This phenomenon remains puzzling to me, as it appears that there are two distinct states of The House that it alternates between. When approaching The House in low lighting conditions, I have observed a window. Peering inside, the room appears vacant except for a few pictures displayed on the walls, giving it an abandoned appearance. A single light fixture is suspended in the center of the room. On the contrary, it is challenging to approach The House in brighter lighting conditions, although I have noticed that all exterior walls are solid with no visible windows.

The environment in The House seems unusually quiet today, and I am uncertain about the reason for this shift.

The House was not found in its anticipated locations today. Given that I am unaware of all possible destinations it may have traveled to, it is unclear if it has disappeared entirely or simply concealed itself in an unfamiliar location. In light of this, if it does not reappear promptly, I may initiate a search for it. The sudden absence of Entities such as this causes me some concern, as they typically do not vanish in this manner.

Today is a productive day as The House has reappeared in its usual location. Recognizing the potential for its disappearance once more, I took the opportunity to make another entry. Surprisingly, the door was unlocked, which was a notable and positive development. I was successful in capturing a photograph of the interior, which includes a hanging light fixture and the mentioned pictures from previous entries. Despite its abandoned and unassuming appearance, I remain intrigued by the fascinating nature of this Entity.

While I acknowledge the potential hazards, I am compelled to proceed with entering The House while there is ample light. I am aware that The House may exist in multiple states of being, and I have managed to capture documentation of one of them. I am currently making the necessary preparations, although I am cognizant that my mental resilience will be put to the test. I find the Entities intriguing as they exist beyond our conventional reality. Despite my admiration for them, I cannot deny that they evoke a sense of fear within me.

Aesthetic: The bad twin was always her brother so she could get away with murder. Leather and red-painted lips, the purr of a bike beneath her, the road is her closest friend, and unlike the black sheep she respected it. But at least he was a sheep- she’s a wolf, wicked toothed and hungry underneath fleece, a hyena waiting for the right kind of scraps looking after her cackle- a will to do anything to protect what’s hers. HISTORY

A boston transplant in her early days, Amelia Ward was always the more cunning of the Ward twins, the one with the plan to put her brother’s might to work. They saw their first body at eight- they learned about murder at eleven- Sometimes she misses hushed discussions of who in town might be a killer hiding among them with her brother- She misses the other things about him far, far less.

Her family was loyal to a biker gang, and until Tilt’s accident, Mimi was a popular fixture at the local clubhouses, both of her own crew, and others. She was never involved in more than a little drug use and drinking, and knows nothing about her brother’s deal for amnesty in the face of a bust that spared her losing her beloved job at the local news station as a late night host.

She’s been the overnight host of the local news station since her early twenties, and is well liked for it, a sardonic, witty type capable of a clean, charming delivery with a sense of humor in most things, she fell into the role well, though she does have a tendency to gossip about things in a way that’s a little… disrespectful without thinking it through.

After the death of their father, and Tilt’s accident soon after, Mimi hung up her loftier goals of eventually leaving Greenview to look after Tilt, and when the prognosis declared he was likely to never be able to live alone again, she swallowed their lingering differences, and the two of them moved into a small home in town- it beat the trailer park they grew up in, and separate apartments, when there was always the risk of Tilt having an episode.

Her familial loyalty is unwavering, and in the face of murders happening around town, she’ll sooner sell anyone else up the river to save her and Tilt’s hides- though she maintains her own research, and a conspiracy style pinboard about the incident years ago- but she insists ‘true crime is in’ these days.

She's the only Ward who still has ties to the gang that quickly fell apart after the bust following Tilt's accident, though her colors and her motorcycle both have the patch for The Carnivale resolutely crossed out or covered over- she's just not in the market for giving up on good leather or a perfectly functional easy rider.

Far more skeptical and untrusting of others than her brother, Mimi tends to subject most everyone Tilt brings home to a substantial amount of scrutiny, up to and including background checks, if she can get away with it- this habit has not lightened, in the days following an actual, legitimate murder.

Avery had lived in Greenview her whole life, but she still wasn't completely used to just how cold it could get. It was particularly icy today, which made carrying groceries home from Aldi's rather difficult. She would've ridden her bike, but the stupid thing had a flat tire so here she was, trudging through the ice and snow with her bags, trying to avoid any slick patches.

She couldn't avoid all of them, though, and one misstep led to her foot slipping out from under her, sending her and her bags crashing to the sidewalk.

The Darlings had a beautiful house close to the beach, and two very cute children that they rarely interacted with because they had enough money to funnel into staff to do that for them.

Hoyt never really cared all that much; while his sister Bella seemed to shy away from it all, he was happy to accept money instead of love.

He's always been incredibly stuck up and obnoxious about how much money he has; not necessarily rubbing it in anyone's face but showing it off and blowing it on anything his heart desires.

What his parents did never really concerned Hoyt, as long as he got to benefit from it - so as long as he kept getting money and eventually access to the yacht club, they could keep being absent.

Bella, however, was different. Hoyt loved his sister and was more than happy to spend time reading with them or just hanging out and watching tv or going to the amusement park.

He could tell as time went on that the lack of attention from their parents were wearing on Bella in a way it didn't with him, and it just made him make sure to keep showing her he loved her by spending time with her, even occasionally cancelling plans with his friends just so they remembered he'd always be there.

High school was a flurry of partying, expensive cars, and more partying. He used some of the money his parents gave him to fund not only the lifestyle he was living but also to pay other students to do his assignments for him so he could pass.

Shortly after graduation, he started bleaching his hair; it wasn't consistent, and sometimes he'd go back to brunette for a while, but it wasn't unusual to see him freshly bleached for a few months and then back to his darker hair.

He opted to stay home even after graduating, if only because Bella was still there; his parents did extend an apartment for him, but as long as Bella was at home, so was Hoyt.

The only reason he wound up going to college was so he could join one of the fraternities and keep partying and impressing people around him with how much money he had.

Between the fraternity, parties his parents went to and he could now also attend, and the yacht club, Hoyt felt like he had finally procured the life he was always meant to have.

He never really was able to figure out if his parents liked him or not; but he looked and acted the part, and that seemed like it was enough.

As per usual, Hoyt paid his way through college as well, graduating with a marketing degree and deciding that the best option for him was to work in real estate since you didn't really need a degree, and his was more or less fake.

As soon as Bella moved out of the house, Hoyt also took his parents up on the offer to pay for an apartment, and moved out as well.

He's been scraping by on his family's reputation, having some friends that feel fake most of the time, but Hoyt can't stand being by himself.

Sometimes he goes to hang around the library when Bella is working, just to go somewhere with people so he can read but not feel entirely isolated.

He has mixed feelings about his life; he thought this was everything he wanted, but it feels more lonely and superficial than it ever has.
