June 03, 8:00 am Balconies - May 2024 Back in 2005, we stopped for gas in the town of Greenup, Illinois, on our way to Florida. Since it is only a dozen miles from Fox Ridge State Park, we decided to go down there to see what was there besides the balconies we had seen twenty years ago. The balconies are still there, and they are still interesting, but the historic area of Greenup is very much a dying town. Most of the buildings are empty or have consignment or auction places that eke out enough business to stay open. It was hard to tell if any of the living quarters on the second floors were still occupied. The need for the balcony to enable you to sit out in the cool air of the evening is also a part of the past. MWM

march in fairbanks is truly the cruelest month... on tuesday it was above freezing and the snow was melting and the sun was shining and i even touched!!! grass!!! 

...then last night and this morning it snowed like 5 inches and my car is hella stuck in the driveway and hella covered in ice and i’m not even mad because i know better than to trust a Single Warm Day In Early March but i am gently cursing the sky for covering up that glimpse of hope

I have never seen a sunken room in a Victorian. This parlor is 3 steps down. It also has doors to the garden.

The kitchen remodel is cute. The color of the cabinetry matches the house and it looks like an original kitchen layout. It must've been done some years ago b/c the cabinet style is dated and the counters are laminate.

The home has 6 bedrooms. This is very nice.

1 of 4 baths. This is lovely.

So pretty.

If a new owner loves Victorian decor, there's nothing to do in this home but move in. All the bedrooms have lovely wallpaper and curtains.

What a great bath. Look at the murals on the wall. How cute is this?

Beautiful hall. You don't often see a hall like this with a window.

Instead of a powder room at the end of the entrance hall, there's a full bath.

And there's a stunning dining room with a built-in china cabinet.

Look at the beautiful porch on the 2nd fl.

This home is like a picture inside and out. There's a beautiful gazebo and the property measures 4.56acres. That's the Ohio River.

I think it was you that said you know nothing about me so here! some facts about ongreenergrasses

my favorite color is green. this is because when I was deeply depressed at 12 years old I was actually sitting outside on a swing when greenup happened (bc where I’m from greenup happens in about 15 mins flat) and to this day it’s still one of the most beautiful things i’ve ever seen

i’ve been to five continents and have family on three

i tend to order food with a medium spice level. this is because if i get the high spice level i will eat it all in one sitting

i have medical and credit card debt

my hair is brown and curly and i’m currently growing it out

favorite flowers are fireweed, bluebells, forget me nots, bleeding hearts, and edelweiss. i have tattoos of three of the five

when i was in high school i very extensively decorated the inside of my locker with things that were meaningful to me, as many high schoolers do. this is actually deeply humiliating bc i just had my entire personality out there for everyone to see and uh. everything that i’ve ever loved comes back around so something i am Deeply obsessed with currently did in fact have a prominent place in my locker

i have to keep my nails very very short because of music but the second i have one of my two months off a year i get acrylics put on

i had to get a restraining order against my ex when i was 21. lol. lmao even

Congressman Cedric Levan Richmond (September 13, 1973) is an attorney, politician, and political advisor serving as a senior advisor to the president and director of the White House Office of Public Engagement in the Biden administration. A member of the Democratic Party, he was the Representative for Louisiana’s 2nd congressional district (2011-21). His district included most of New Orleans.

He served as Chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus (2017-19). Beginning with his third term, he was the only Louisiana Democrat serving in either chamber of Congress. He served as State Representative from New Orleans to the Louisiana State House (2000-11). In 2019, he was named the first national co-chairman of the Joe Biden 2020 presidential campaign. On September 5, 2020, he was named a co-chair of Biden’s presidential transition. On November 17, 2020, he announced he would leave Congress in January 2021 to serve as Senior Advisor to the President and director of the Office of Public Liaison.

He was born and raised in New Orleans, where he attended public schools. His father died when he was seven years old. His mother was a public school teacher and small business owner. He graduated from Benjamin Franklin High School. He earned a BA from Morehouse College and a JD from Tulane School of Law. He completed an executive program at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government. He played college baseball as a pitcher for the Morehouse Maroon Tigers.
