this was really relatable to us apologies beforehand OP but this really spoke to our robot aft so;

legit been thinking for many months about adding a disclaimer to our instant messaging app profiles (and if we ever using dating apps again) that says "Don't ask me out unless you're willing to read EXRID or even just Best of Arcee plus having carefully considered the full meaning IDW1 Arcee's wiki page and that essay we wrote that one time" because literally only one person (who we're still friends with) out of more than a handful did that latter step (not specifically for this reason but it came up) and that was most we felt like someone understood us and could respect our boundaries and desires in retrospect, save for us wanting her to be able to love herself and accept that people care for and think well of her (this has gotten a lot better from what we can tell).

finding a succinct way to put that on a shirt honestly is tempting for another reason after dealing with a probable chaser cis guy recently who could not take the hint on us mentioning how much we liked the transfeminine narratives in transformers and it took outing ourselves as "sapphic/enbian" (this is just living and breathing) and plural (more difficult but in the space we were at the time not really) + a gal friend of ours (bless your heart dear pal) showing up and us lighting up to say hi to our friend for him to take the hint and he left immediately without saying goodbye or a word when I said bye. which combined with the fact he had tipped off knowing I was trans earlier in a weird way that made me wonder why would you ask me to come out for a smoke if you know it's unhealthy for me my guy kind of told me that he um well was not interested in respecting me. this is the third chaser we've dealt with so far in our life bleh.

I mean. I already looked like I was out in that peak 2010s undergrad degree queer showing who I am and what my neurodivergence is through pins kind of way?!!? How do you look at someone with a pin of Anode/Lug embracing + Greenlight/Lancer together not to mention various other gals (Aileron and Arcee included) and a lesbian colors Arcee and conclude 'this insert slur trans gal is primarily interested in cis men or evenly bisexual and I should totally try to follow up on this when it's very clear you're trying to leave to go home' at a transformers convention (the kicker is he did not know much about transformers so he was what. there to pick up trans women since somehow that deep cut of a takeway that transfems like transformers was disjointed from why?) lmao? lmao. lmao! its funny in retrospect but also absolutely ridiculous and concerning.

Maybe when we finish our EVA back stacks we'll have to write trans4trans on them to shoo people or something but we already know that in itself isn't enough

(note also to please not do this to straight/androphilic transfems either okay even if transness is why you're attracted it shouldn't be for fetishizing transness reasons you need to consider the full scope of what acting on attraction entails and thus value the needs and desires of the other person rather than have their worth be contingent on sexualization)

Question: we've written a bunch of the Arcee/Aileron fics on Ao3 at this point, admittedly some of those are written in polycules with Greenlight and Lancer too so uh should just tag all the ships of the four + Anode and Lug when that happens so they’re easier to find or would that clutter everything. Transformers fics with she/she pairings are rare enough as it is gal or no so we figured we might make our stuff easier to find? Will wait for comment/reblog here or elsewhere

How do you feel about rare polyamory pairings? not necessarily for us since we already write them, but we don't know anyone else who actually has released stuff on Greenlight/Aileron/Anode/Arcee/Lug/Lancer or Greenlight/Aileron/Arcee/Lancer. we're probably just going to do some very rare ships like Libras/Solus Prime or if we're really feeling like dipping into what we've already written, Rosanna/Flamewar or Arcee/Codexa (maybe Arcee/Shatter but that will take a lot of spoons to write) or maybe Pyra/Rust Dust.

Danielle Witwicky: So, some of you may be wondering about our story... I'll tell a little bit about two of me (this is not canon information although much of this first paragraph is): the emotional and sweet gunslinging kid you might know from the Sunbow cartoon telling of the tale as Daniel (I don't mind people using that name for me I just also use Danielle both make me happy and are ones I associate with my galness) was seriously injured in 2007 CE when I (there will be some continuity slips in the gestalt that's why I'm using I here) was seriously injured helping Arcee fight Snapdragon. What with the opportunity to use headmaster technology thanks to the Nebulan resistance, Arcee volunteered to have her systems be used as life support for me- her head reconfigured to be able to transform into an exosuit for me, so we had a binary bond, working closely together, building on the sweet mentoring trust she had already given me previously, and proving quite the effective duo in combat.

With everything we went through risking body and mind to help save the world, and still sharing our bond after as we helped rebuild Nebulos and looked after the future of Earth and Cybertron... by the time 2008 rolled around, I was fifteen, and had a sort of hybrid education with some formal actual Earth schooling while the rest was Cybertronian education, and well, informally, learning from Arcee every day of my life thereafter.

Her prowess, her sweetness, the power she wielded from who she had made herself, her attentive outspoken demeanor that situated us as the right hand of Optimus Prime and set part of my life on the path of a warrior sage, all amazed me, all things I wanted in the way she did it that I had not known I had longed for. When we first met the other Solus Shield resistance fighters besides Chromia, that is, Elita One, Moonracer, Firestar, and the adorable couple Greenlight and Lancer whom Arcee was enamored with, I realized that... I wanted to be a gal, or knew myself as one from then on. Cybertron's history of ever transforming gender was one I found deep comfort in, and so, though it wasn't so easy back in 2008 (and in the 2023 CE we are posting this there are still many barriers including transmedicalizations), I started hormone replacement therapy, something that Arcee, to her amusement, experienced through her connection to me and my body. Her happiness for me is a joy that I cherish deeply, and it is a loop, for at this point, she is me, and I am her.

The two in the picture above though- somewhat different situation. That Danielle is a cyborg, for one. She er, wanted more of the metal framework in terms of bodily experience. Arcee, if you want to-

"Zoomy" Arcana Magnus: I do, I'll tell the rest. I grew up on a Cybertron where, though we had some conflicts from time to time, aesthetics of self and community was deeply celebrated as everyday and remarkable. Our first word for something like what many of you know as gender was sparktion, that is, of the spark, sparklike, since we saw it as something one tries to figure out from the soul and contextualize from lived experience and creativity, but can't ever fully know. For me- that meant eventually realizing I wanted a different frame than that I shared with my dear brother and fellow Autobot Galvatron, wanting to still ahve a robust shape but have more of a slope and curve, to have two lovely back stacks with wheels- to feel a graceful rush to my movements and thoughts and life realized through reshaping my body. My words for this sparktion to me are zoomdare. There are some parallels and overlaps with galness- but it is not the same.

I designed and forged the parts I would add to my body by hand. I couldn't do the surgery myself, but my grandmentors Solus Prime and Amalgamous did, and apart from sensory side effects (that for me only lasted a few weeks) not unlike what humans can experience from HRT or surgery, I was deeply glad with my form, and it gave me so much happiness that helped me find balance in life apart from studying wisdom and practicing it and having a community and health resources to turn to. There are other parts of the story to tell- but, regarding Danielle... I was about 200 years old when we made contact with humanity in the early history of transformer originated society. Human bodied folk were in their 2800s CE, and had made new homes on other star systems, like Gliese Exiom, where I met Danielle in her fifties, a mechatronic engineer who had long studied the history of gals and gender expansive folk at war, peace, and revolution, and read quite a bit of fiction in that regard but hadn't really found an answer to their gender stuff and had left that be. As part of a diplomatic bonding program, they and I both volunteered to binary bond-

it was initially dysphoric, for me. Her gender stuff, though rapidly exploding with epiphany and euphoria from contact with me, was not something I was used to, the way she thought about things and all the implications and history gender carried good and bad. It was too much. I could see why she with contact with my mind realized xenogender stuff in relation to my zoomdareness. She felt lonely in that too, even though patriarchy and empire had been dead for her species for the last two centuries.

So, for a while, she kept her stuff from me in our mental link and cyborg patching when they was inside my head, and I stayed an open door. But, eventually, I came to know galness another way that was euphoric to me- Earth vehicles. I took up another reformat from combining the designs of two such sport and muscle cars- and now we share freely with each other.

I helped her raise a family with the Nebulan jixurque (an aesthetic we'll have to tell you about sometime) Llyra, and the two helped me, Aileron, Lancer, Greenlight, Anode, and Lug to raise Gauge and Sideswipe II. We have fought Neofunctionists, Unicronists, and Decepticons, and took part in the aesthetic Autobot Revolution. We do our own things separately sometimes but it's rare now. I don't know what I would do if I lost her the way I've lost Hardhead and Sideswipe and Kup-

Danielle is- one of the dearest people in my life. I don't know how to say, to phrase, the kind of love I feel for her. It is a deep kinship but even that is an understatement.

I think Arcee would vibe with the Empress of Salt and Fortune by Nghi Vo! The Worldbuilding and intrigue and characters are all SO interesting. I don’t have words for how very cool it is.

hmmmm I think this rec might depend a little more on which version(s) of Arcee are your favourite and why, but I think Witch Boy by Molly Knox Ostertag is always a solid choice to recommend! It’s a really fun fantasy/mystery that is very affirming and gender

For Anode

I will take any excuse to recommend Upright Women Wanted by Sarah Gailey. It’s a post-apoc western about queer librarians. It’s a fun time. Very good read for an adventurous soul.

For You

If you’re a fan of Anode, I think you’ll like The Space Between Worlds by Micaiah Johnson! I don’t want to say too much bc I don’t want to spoil it, but I absolutely stayed up till 3am to finish this book in one sitting bc I couldn’t put it down. Really cool concept, excellent execution and commentary, fantastic characters. GOOD BOOK.

For Lug

Ok so this isn’t technically queer or have robots, but it’s still firmly cemented in scifi and I can’t NOT recommend for the geologist character a book I recommended to a real life geologist who is dear to me. So! For Lug I recommend Red Shirts by John Scalzi. It’s a GREAT time tbh. It’s a parody of shows like star trek where the “red shirt” character becomes genre aware and attempts to escape his (and his friends) fate. It’s very well written and I was especially tickled by the three epilogues (first person, second person, and third person) each following a different character with loose ends.... and written in the pov of the epilogue title.

For You

Hmmmmmm if I hadn’t already recommended across a field of starlight I would recommend that one here... but since I have, I will instead recommend Under the Whispering Door by TJ Klune. Also queer, also deals with death, and I cried through the entire thing (in a good way.)

I think she’d like The Tea Dragon Society by K. O’neill. Very chill comics exploring different kinds of dragons has gotta be a little like xenobiology, right???

Rock and Riot by Chelsea Furedi! I feel like some parallels could be found between some of the relationships in Rock and Riot and Arcee and Greenlight, and since Greenlight is rarely found without her partner it makes for good reading for a fan of her!

For Aileron

Ok so again this isn’t a queer/robot book, but oh MAN is it gorgeous. Human Target by Tom King and Greg Smallwood is a noir style mystery with gorgeous art and really excellent lettering. Aileron (in idw2 at least) to me feels like the kind of person that would vibe with a good mystery book (with all the mystery in her FICTION where it BELONGS instead of in her LIFE where it does NOT)

Hmm Perhaps try Rockstar and Softboy by Sina Grace! Aileron seems like the level headed one of this group of wreckers and Softboy is a little like that as well... but even when your friends cause problems with their good intentions at the end of the day you still gotta love em.

For Nautica

I can’t not recommend The Murderbot Diaries by Martha Wells for Nautica. It’s got weird science and weird alien planets and murder mysteries, what’s not to love for a nerd like her?

For You

Hmmmm if you’re a fan of Nautica you may like The Last Human by Zack Jordan. It’s a lot of fun, but the second half of the book does get a little weird in a “you’ll love it or you’ll hate it” sort of way. But honestly with some books that’s part of the fun! Especially when you share them with friends :)

For Chromia

Another book that does not hit the “queer or robots” requirement, but Blacksad by Juan Diaz Canales and Juanjo Guarnido absolutely seems like a book that Chromia would like. A noir comic about anthropomorphic animals with absolutely stunning art. The details in the backgrounds and scenery are especially well thought out, you could look at them and find new things for days, which is smth I think she’d appreciate.

For You

Magic for Liars by Sarah Gailey. This book just about single-handedly got me out of a uhhhhhh seven year reading slump so I cannot actually tell you if it was good but I can tell you I had an absolute blast reading it. Very noir detective mystery... but modern day with a fantastical twist. I could see where the mystery was going, but honestly that just made me enjoy it more because I love seeing the inner workings of how fiction is set up so yes. Fun Book. Chromia fans check it out.

For Velocity

I think that Velocity would like Boys Run the Riot by Keito Gaku! The characters are high school students struggling to break into fashion after being told repeatedly that it’s not something they can achieve. I think that she could relate to that with her own struggle with getting into the medical field.

Anode and Lug are Windblade's parents, briefly mentioned in her bio. happily married, they immigrated to Caminus a long time ago and ended up adopting her, and currently host two interplanetary transfer students Greenlight and Lancer while their kid is off to Cybertron for that fancy new school. she calls them regularly, and asks for advice, and leans on the wisdom they taught her, but absolutely does not tell them about her superheroing no thank you

and Aileron is a JAAT student, also from Caminus. she's in the Heptaneon dorm and is eventually Arcee's datemate! she may also end up in Megatron's punk band the Knights of Unicron, i haven't decided yet...

Since poly ships are rarepairs... we actually wrote stuff for ours! Day of Multiflame has the greenlight/arcee/aileron/anode/lug/lancer mostly together, in that fic its greenlight/arcee/aileron/lancer (romantic equivalent) and arcee/anode/lug (queer platonic equivalent, of course anode/lug is romantic) and while we write them with alien aesthetics they have a rich vocabulary for that parallel gender they are of course drawn on their gal iterations, and well, it probably surprises no one that the GAAALL ship will appear at the end of Addendum (An IDW1 Arcee novel fanfic) where they are gals (and in the case of e.g. Arcee, we also write her as polygender), but the fic does start with Arcee/Codexa which ends up being Arcee/Codexa/Shatter/Dropkick

Note- Arcee/Greenlight, Arcee/Aileron, Greenlight/Lancer, and Anode/Lug are canonical

So the Transformers RPG's Beginner Box: Roll Out set is coming with the scenario of the core rulebook and the first scenario of the A Time Is Now campaign book, and character guides for Hound, Gauge, Anode, Aileron, Smokescreen, Novastar, Beachcomber, and Springer, some of whom were stand-ins for player characters in A Time Is Now including in the art for the book. This is releasing in May.

Gauge, Aileron, and Anode have actual character guides for suggestions of how to play them!!! Arcee, who is the quartermaster of the Ark and an npc in A Time Is Now, also had a pregen released a while ago as free bonus material as a warrior sentinel (which means she's specialized in melee weapons/martial arts generally and deflecting attacks and such and can have an extra shield or parrying weapon, can manifest energon weapons without spending energon, has more free actions, etc) with a gladiator influence.

So um if there is anybody out there looking to play some of the (trans) lesbian gals of transformers and their mentee (admittedly in Anode's case assuming she was just Arcee's friend like in IDW1 she's more like Gauge's aunt but we're pretty sure everyone following us is aware that we very much adore the Greenlight/Aileron/Anode/Arcee/Lug/Lancer ship that we're more or less responsible for being one of the first to toss around on the internet) or would like that to be their introduction to the game this is a thing you will be able to do in a few months.

Just. Just really blown away. We're just overjoyed, especially with everything happening right now that makes life for gender and orientation expansive folk so hard, that Renegade committed to showing some more of these bots. Very curious what Anode's art will look like since she hasn't had any of her IDW art shown in the book yet, Aileron got some new art in the TTRPG as did Gauge.
