It’s been a long time coming, and anyone who’s been following this blog for any amount of time is well aware of my obsession with these funny wiggly boys.

Moray eels. My beloveds. Look at that girth, high chunk. The slime layer that makes it so that I cannot hug them without a proper wetsuit or fabric layer, absolute gunk. The big squishable cheeks, the weird sticky-out-y tube nostrils, the two mouths, incredibly funky.

Overall: 10/10

Everyone has a selfish dream of what they would do if they won the lottery. Mine is simple: buy a giant saltwater tank and fill it with 3 giant moray eels. (Preferably of different colors/patterns so I can tell them apart)

Everyone also has a dream of channeling their inner Disney Princess with a wild animal: I want to hug a moray eel.

It was my birthday on the 18th, so as a gift to myself, I rate my beloveds.

🐠 Daily Fish Fact: 🐠

The Green Moray Eel measures 8.2 ft. It is the largest moray species of the tropical Atlantic and one of the largest species of moray eel known. Its green color comes from a protective layer of mucus secreted by its specialized goblet cells much like other species of moray. Underneath this mucus layer, the green moray eel is a darker color as can be seen in preserved specimens.

Moray eels are fish, that's right ^^

Green morays feed at night, eating other fish, cephalopods and crustaceans. They can grow up to 8 feet [2.4 metres] long!

They're also... brown? Their yellow-green mucus gives them their greenish appearance and name!

IMPORTANT QUESTION.

Favourite kind of fish? Favourite species of fish?

Mine are eels, specifically spotted snake eels (they're very pretty) and gulper eels (they're really interesting) and green moray eels (i've seen some in the wild) with honorary mentions to nz longfin eels (i've seen many in the wild because they are everywhere, also they are some really cool fish), how about yours?

Also what are your opinions on crabs?
