[ID: Three different pride flags, each with three versions. All have five horizontal stripes, with the colors listed in order from top to bottom. The first and last flag in each set is labeled with black text across the center stripe, with a blank version of the flag in between. The black stripes are in these versions extremely dark grey. The first flag is labeled, "Lithrose" and "Akoirose", and is red, orange, yellow, white, and black. The second flag is labeled "Lithsexual" and "Akoisexual" and is orange, pale orange, yellow, black, and ace purple. The third flag is labeled, "Lithromantic" and "akoiromantic", and is red-pink, pale orange, yellow, black, and aro green. End ID.]
Okay another offering for the community at large because I only just realized that the lithromantic / akoiromantic and lithsexual / akoisexual flags are the exact same thing.
I was really worried for a second I'd been calling the flag by the wrong name for years now, but, no...it's just one flag for both of them going by different names.
I don't remember how old the original flag is but I'm gonna just assume it's older than when the split attraction model started becoming more well-known...
anyways. To help clarify:
Lithrose / Akoirose: Where you feel attracted to someone but don't want it to be reciprocated, or you might stop feeling attracted once it is returned.
Lithsexual / Akoisexual: Where you feel sexually attracted to someone but don't want it to be reciprocated, or you might stop feeling attracted once it is returned.
Lithromantic / Akoiromantic: Where you feel romantically attracted to someone but don't want it to be reciprocated, or you might stop feeling attracted once it is returned.
=======
Please feel free to use the new pride flags here for literally anything you would use a pride flag for, no credit needed. Icons, headers, moodboards, redbubble designs, literally whatever you want. As far as I am concerned they're public domain.
(I use extremely dark grey in place of 100% solid black for the pride designs I make so they're visible against black backgrounds, and these were made on the templates I use for those, but you can obviously use 100% black if you want!)
The header versions of these will go in a reblog since they won't all be able to fit on this post.
(As a note, I usually refer to these with the prefix lith- rather than akoi- because that's easier for me to spell properly with my dyslexia, not because I have anything against the prefix akoi-)

The Fabled A-spec Post I Keep Saying I’ll Make
Since I’m p aro on sideblog + community terms are unknown to people outside the community (as well as those inside the community due to the wipeout exclusionism on the website circa 2016-onward) so I figured I’d make a quick post to let people know abt some of the things I’ll be referring to!
Terms
Allo: someone who is not a-spec; used in front of -romantic or -sexual (ex. alloromantic) or used as a descriptor (ex. I cannot believe everyone else here is allo)
A-spec / Aro-spec / Ace-spec: abbreviation for the spectrum; A-spec as an abbreviation for the entire spectrum, aro-spec as an abbreviation for the aro spectrum, and ace-spec as an abbreviation for the ace spectrum
-> a note: can be written as a-spec or aspec, but due to screen readers/ what I’ve seen dyslexic a-spec people discuss, I use a-spec. I am not dyslexic nor use a screen reader, so I cannot comment on this, and feel free to correct me if I’m wrong
Qpr/ qpp: queerplatonic relationship/ quasiplatonic relatonship; queerplatonic partner/ quasiplatonic partner. Qprs do not have a strict set of rules, and as such are hard to describe. They are not romantic nor sexual inherently, though one could be. A qpr can be committed, married, and non-romantic/ non-sexual; they can look like a romantic relationship; they can include sex and sexual elements; they can appear casual; they can be monogamous or polyamorous; they can occur at the same time as a romantic relationship. They’re very moldable. They are a relationship that, as it comes from the aro community, is not inherently romantic, but goes above and beyond traditional societal norms for friendship (though, friends can do everything a qpr does and not be in a relationship labeled as other than friends). To get a better understanding of qprs, I’d suggest looking into community resources and finding other posts a-spec blogs have made about them. AUREA, or aromantism.org, defines them as “A committed non-romantic relationship that goes beyond what is the subjective cultural norm for a friendship. Levels of intimacy and/or behaviors between the partners involved often don’t fit the conventional standards set by society. Some QPRs can include sex and elements that are generally considered romantic. In practice every queerplatonic relationship is different. Abbreviated to QPR, and queerplatonic (quasiplatonic) partner to QPP.”
Squish: a catch-all term for non-romantic and non-sexual attraction; commonly mistaken for a crush
-> a note: there are many other words for different types of attraction (plush for queerplatonic attraction, swish for aesthetic attraction, etc) but squish is a catch-all and used most often
Peach Fuzz: a qpr that pretends to be romantic/ dating for any reason
Zucchini: an old term that became uncommon after exclusionism became widespread; another way to refer to your partner in a QPR (ex. This is my zucchini!)
Amatonormitivity: The assumption that everyone is looking for a long-term romantic relationship; the assumption that romance, marriage, ‘partnering off’, etc, is the only path someone would want to follow in their life
Queerplatonic / quasiplatonic: an attraction that is ‘non traditional’ and not romantic or sexual. A hard to define attraction that is different than platonic attraction but not romantic or sexual
Aplatonic: Someone who does not experience platonic attraction; also a spectrum called the aplspectrum; can be used as an identifier (ex. demiplatonic, greyplatonic, etc)
SAM: the split attraction model, which serves to split types of attraction (ex. aroromantic and bisexual as two different terms used at the same time)
Non-SAM aro, ace, etc: commonly used as Non-SAM aro. People who don’t use the split attraction model (ex. only identifying as aro/ terms related to aro and not ace/ allosexual)
Oriented aroace: a term for people who are aroace who experience another type of attraction larger enough to label it (ex. Lesbian aroace, pan aroace, etc)
Angled aroace: a term for people who are on the a-spectrum (grey, demi, akoi, etc) and who experience a type of attraction that is not romantic or sexual, and feels significant enough for them to label it (ex. see above, angled omni aroace, angled gay aroace, etc)
Relationship anarchy: the belief that no relationship is better than another; instead of a pyramid of relationships, they’re all equal. Not specific to the community, but often discussed
Romance/ sex repulsed/ averse: someone who does not want romance/ sexual relationships/ actions taken towards them. This can go from feeling uncomfortable to getting triggered by these actions. One can be romance repulsed and not sex repulsed, or sex repulsed and not romance repulsed, or both
R/s indifferent: someone who does not care one way or the other about romance and/or sexual actions taken towards them. One might be unwilling to do romantic/sexual actions because they don’t care, or, on the other end of the spectrum, might do them anyway even though they do not feel any real want to. On a spectrum and can apply in any combination, like r/s repulsed.
R/s favorable: someone who likes romantic/ sexual actions and wants to do them. Again, on a spectrum, and in any combination, like the two above. They might seek out romantic/ sexual interactions, enjoy them, and want a romantic/ sexual relationship, despite not feeling romantic/ sexual attraction
-> a note: be careful! Sex negative and sex positive are used to refer to whether you support those who are sexual or not (ie. sex workers, those who are in sexual relationships, etc) instead of whether you specifically feel repulsed/ favorable. Don’t mix the terms up, as they mean two different things
Voidpunk: a section of punk morals/ aesthetic not unique to the aro community but coined in it. The practice of rejecting ones humanity and reclaiming their inhumanity, specifically only to be used by groups that people use inhuman against; a way to cope with dehumanization from oppressors. Not specific to the aro community (also used by poc, neurodivergent people, etc, and the intersection of multiple identities that are called ‘inhuman’) but popular inside it
Soft Romo: a term used for anyone but most often on the aro-spectrum; for people who like to perform stereotypical ‘romantic’ gestures such as dating, etc. without wanting the high-energy kissing, holding hands, etc. A ‘low-level romantic relationship’, where performing high-level romance is not preferred or just not possible due to different aspects.
-> let me know if there’s anything you would like me to add/ explain!
Symbols
Tumblr media
[ID: an image of two hands, palm up. The right hand is on the left, and the left hand is on the right. They are resting on a dark grey blanket, and there is a light blue rug behind them. On the middle finger of the right hand there is a black ring. On the middle finger of the left hand there is a white, almost transparent, ring. End ID]
Black ring: a symbol of the ace-spec community. Worn on the right hand, middle finger. A way of identification/ pride in public w/o displaying flags
White ring: a symbol of the aro-spec community. Worn on the left hand, middle finger. A way of identification/ pride in public w/o displaying flags
Cake: a symbol commonly used in the ace community, either as a joke (ex. This cake is better than sex!/ Cake will always be better than sex) or as a symbol
Arrow: a symbol commonly used in the aro community, drawing on the way the words ‘arrow’ and ‘aro’ sound the same. Similar themes (archers, bow and arrow, etc) can also be used
Ace card symbol: the ace of a card deck, commonly used as a symbol in the ace community. While the card usage isn’t often discussed, I’ve found sources discussing each meaning; Ace of hearts-> alloace; Ace of spades-> aroace; Ace of diamonds-> the ace spectrum Ace of clubs-> questioning. Draws on ‘ace’ and ‘ace’ word play; also used in jokes (ex. I have an ace up my sleeve/ Aced it!)
Yellow roses: a symbol commonly used in the aro community. Symbolizes friendship, using the symbolism in the yellow rose
Purple/ Green: the colors in the ace / aro flags, respectively
Yellow: the ‘color of friendship’. Commonly connected to yellow roses.
-> a note: there are many more symbols in each community; space ace, frogs for aros, griffins, dragons, etc. I’d suggest looking up symbols and finding some more yourself! These are just some common ones I have seen frequently
That’s all I can think of right now, but if anyone would like me to add on things / explain more my ask box is always open and I am always willing to edit. People in the a-spec community, please feel free to comment/ correct things/ add on things you feel like I’ve missed! While I did not do a list of identities, I did not want to leave out identities that are lesser known/ made fun of. Again, my ask box is open. I linked AUREA (linked to the FAQ) above earlier (linked to the home page), which is a great site for the aro community if anyone would like to know more.

[image description: six cartoon-style bunting graphics, featuring six pride flags hanging from a brown rope. The flags are rectangular, finishing in a chevron shape, and have rows of brown stitching across the top of the flag and along the bottom of the chevron. The first three flags in each image have the topmost stripes facing the left; the second three flags are flipped, so all topmost edges face away from the centre of the bunting.
Each banner starts with the yellow/gold allo-aro flag on the left and alternates with an aromantic spectrum identity flag. From top to bottom, the banners include: the mint/light mint/white/light pink/pink abro flag, the red/coral/lemon/light green/green aroflux flag, the black-triangle with white/green/light grey stripes demiromantic flag, the green/grey/white/grey/green greyromantic flag, the red/orange/yellow/white/black lith/akoi flag and the pink gradient/white/blue gradient nebularomantic flag.]
Allo-Aro Bunting - Aromantic Spectrum Edition, Part 1
I wanted to make banners that celebrate the many possible identities encompassed by the “aro” in “allo-aro”!
Flags: Abroromantic, Aroflux, Demiromantic, Greyromantic, Lithromantic/Akoiromantic, Nebularomantic.

MY Thoughts this Aromantic Awareness Week 1/?
Tumblr media
Aromantic Awareness 2021 February 21st to February 27th
This will probably make no sense to anyone, but since I’ve got no prompts to fill or questions to answer this is what I’m doing.
“Some” people say you shouldn’t talk about these things, and should keep them behind closed doors, I say. Education and acceptance is more important than some stuck up tarts archaic idea of modesty...
but I do agree with moderation of information of course.
I‘ve a few talking points, I’m not going to say how many because it may be more than I originally start out with. , and as you all know I can go off on tangents.
__________________________ First I guess I should Explain the flag and what it means, because, like other LGBT pride flags the colours have meaning
>Green & light green: represent the aromantic spectrum, aromanticism (represented by green); covers all arospec identities (aro, gray aro, lith/akoi, cupio, quoiro, idem, demi, fray, caed, requis, arovague, and others)
>White: for all the nonromantic forms of love and attraction; friendship/platonic, aesthetic, sexual, sensual, emotional, mental, QP relationships, family, you name it [Alternatively some designs include yellow for this, though personally I avoid yellow for visibility sensitivity]
>Gray & black: for the sexuality spectrum, covering arospec acespecs (asexual spectrum ppl) as well as arospec allosexuals __________________________________________________________
Tumblr media
1b of this blog deals with an important subject Discovery - basically its a ramble of an attempt to explain how I know I’m Aromantic Asexual   Rather than being specifically dedicated to the Aromantic side of my Identity this one’s a mixed answer because it covers both Asexuality and Aromanticism as it regards to me: So - I see and hear a lot of people ask “how did you discover you were “<Insert sexual identity here>” and I‘ve listened to a lot of AroAce people give their answers which always seem to sound deep.. Well, make my own seem rather pedestrian; decide for yourself, this here’s my answer:
The truth with me is frankly... I didn’t “discover” anything apart from the term itself; I’ve always been this way. Oh yeah, I went through phases trying to make sense of why I didn’t fit the social norm of being a sex mad teen or even slightly interested and not repulsed by the whole thing I asked the questions “am I gay?” “ Am I wired wrong?” Etc. But it’s all the same because it was just... me.
Of course ‘society’ has had its opinions, for years people called me frigid, told me ‘god’ wouldn’t let a creature like me be ‘happy’, because I was... i don’t know, Pagan/fat/geeky/ somewhere in the LGBT rainbow take your pick as to what “creature” referred to, i don’t delve into the small minds of backwards northerners anymore, its a bog of stench. Another thing I was frequently told was that I pretended not to want something because I knew I was too ugly/fat/repulsive to get “it”. Which given what happened to me on my 18th makes me laugh ironically. But anyway...
I formed my own explanation, either just to wave a geek flag or because it was one of their insults -   I’d get called alien (originality was not something that was encouraged at my school as you can tell), so I came up with calling myself Vulcan, with the lack of emotional response and distaste for social norms it ft me
I’ve never “wanted” romance, and the idea of physical contact makes my skin crawl (literally and figuratively) Sometimes I’d stop and ask myself if I’d felt  ‘feelings’ for someone.. Like the books described or like my favourite characters on TV?  That... butterfly ‘love at first sight’ heart racing at the sight of another person, but th answer was always no. I even asked the few people in my life I looked up to, to describe “love” (still do sometimes, but that’s more fic research stuff) and it never registered with me which has never bothered me more than a passing itch would.
I was/ am me and there was nothing I could do about it, and as that was the only way I’d ever known it was/is natural to me. back to the ‘discovery’ part of this rant/blog: I can’t really separate discovering Aromantic or Asexual as terms, and tbf I can’t really say for certain when either clicked into place. As with most important things I discovered I wasn’t alone or an ‘abnormality of nature’ through a hell of a lot of research.
I was in university, going to my first few (good) conventions, and I felt surer, of myself I guess, as cheesy as that sounds. this was when I was around 25 Ironically for me this was not that long after after I’d met Ally Dark fairy goth sister lady that she is and started actually finding reasons to like and trust .. anyone really, and shortly after this we met Heather and I discovered among the other things we shared, she was Asexual too, but she’s... i think the term is actually allo-Romantic, she’s interested in that sort of stuff, loves a good romance story, and all the mush attached
I’m still defining the parameters of me, as we all do, people change throughout their lives no one stays precisely the same but. I AM Aromantic Asexual and that is one thing that I am quite happy to say will never change.
The Uk as far as I’m concerned doesn’t recognise Aromantic or Asexual people enough, not that the rest of the world does either, because we don’t stand out as far as their concerned, (well. Most don’t ;) ) but we exist, we are valid and despite what some would have you believe we do count in the LGBTQIA and that is my “discovery” rant/blog/ ASAW day 1 post

All Aro Banners - Part Three
I am all aro, and aro is my word.
Followers should note that all today’s posts will be bunting banners. Tomorrow this blog will go back to its usual content, but today we need to remember just how many shapes of aromanticism have equal claim to this word.
For folks who don’t see their identity go up today: I apologise. I’m yet to make bunting for all identities and flag variants! When I have made yours (and I will) I’ll gladly make a text banner for you as well. Flags requiring a new stripe template or with additional design features usually take longer for me to create.

Flags depicted are: demiromantic, arospike, arovague, nebularomantic, bellusromantic, the green lith/akoiromantic variant, three variations on combining aro and ace flags for aro-ace pride, and the main queerplatonic flag.]
Aro Arrows - Various Designs Edition
As I made pride-themed arrow images for section dividers and widgets on my website, I thought I’d post versions in other aro-spec pride colours for other folks to use.
All my arrow images, current and future, are or will be archived for download at my website along with links to the unmodified arrow base images. My edits are free for anyone to use as long as you don’t sell my unchanged/unmodified images and (please) link back to my accounts or said master page. Feel free to use these for websites and social media, flyers or zines, book or album covers, as part of larger artworks, in moodboards, as logos or in anything else both aro-spec and creative.
(The above link contains forty-one different designs, including an alternate queerplatonic flag and another lith/akoi variant.)
There are still a few more identities for which I need to search up the flags/pride colours, but most aro-spec identities are represented, along with the colours for queerplatonic and aplatonic pride. If there’s an aro-spec identity or flag variation you think I’ve forgotten or don’t know about, link me to its pride flag and I’ll add it to the collection. If it has a stripe design or stripes and simple shapes, I can make it into an arrow.
