I love that the bg3 guys are all written to have this intense adoration of karlach and lae’zel’s abilities to absolutely eviscerate their enemies. they’ve all got the same taste in women, which is “she could gut the big scary man chasing me, and then princess carry me to safety in her blood spattered arms.” and I respect and relate to that, as a bisexual man myself.
#bg3#thoughts about media#I actually love all combinations between any of the guys and lae or karlach. all very good pairings.#honestly hard to choose a fave... but I do quite like wyll & lae and star & karlach.#idk. something about a guy exiled by his own father and then alienated by fiend’s blood with a girl entirely outcast by her people.#in both cases they are punished despite doing the right thing all because they questioned someone of a lawful alignment.#and then star and karlach... both stripped of their autonomy and treated as nothing but a means to an end...#and the unique romance cutscenes they can get with each other!! actually so sweet.#but don’t get me wrong. I still do love all the other combos too.#and it goes without saying that lae & karlach is a great pair too. nothing like a warrior’s bond.#meanwhile my approval the m/m ships is...well. limited.#I love wyll & star together. I like gale & wyll. I am okay with halsin & any of the boys...but he has to be written better.#and by better I mean give him a little more character and make it less about sex only. because the game largely reduces him to sex alone.#no shart mention because I never take her anywhere unless I have to.#sorry. I do not hate her but she just isn’t interesting to me.#and although there’s writing to acknowledge shartstarion as a possible pair.#I think it’s the worst companion/companion pair and I refuse to think about it.#I mean seriously. it’s a combination of two polyamorous bisexuals and yet the pair feels heterosexual.#please don’t to that to my darling vampire. let him be princess carried by the hot warrior gals.

What are some screwball comedy pairings you wish had been a thing? Can definitely be gay ones :)
Okay finally!
One of the reasons I made this blog in the first place is that few things bring me as much blinding rage as imagining the movies we could have gotten, if old Hollywood had stopped being racist/homophobic/anti-everyone for ten fucking seconds. There were so many talented hotties working through our tournament era who only got cameo spots or no-budget movies! for no reason beyond white supremacy! there were so many stories that didn't get told because heaven forbid we acknowledge gay people! If this blog has a mission statement, a big chunk of it would be about highlighting all the amazing hotties who never got what they deserved in their heyday.
So! Let's tear Louis B. Mayer a new one and make some better movies.
Diamond Eyes (1946)
Harold Nicholas, the bored but fabulous son of a Manhattan millionaire, decides to take himself off on a transatlantic cruise to recover from the boredoms of socialites, constant martinis, and west side glamor. When working girl Rita Hayworth snags him into a fake dating scheme to throw off a jealous ex (Cesar Romero), he doesn't mean to fall in love with his false fiancé—or to set the ex up with his scheming accountant (Tyrone Power).
To the Tune of Millions (1945)
Ann Miller and Lena Horne are conwomen besties who use a fake dance act to get into casinos, which they then promptly rob. Unfortunately, an over-enthusiastic talent agent (Gene Kelly) sees the act and thinks they're legitimate, hiring them on the spot as the lead number in a newly opened but already failing musicale review. Who can they hustle at a theater that's barely bringing in a dime? The two ex-cons fall in love with show business, Kelly and Horne smooch at the grand finale, and Miller has an intense will-they-or-won't-they sparring relationship with the hot stage manager (Ethel Waters—and they will).
Untitled Three's-a-Crowd Film (1942)
Cary Grant, Jean Arthur, and Ronald Colman are running interference on a corrupt justice system while trying to keep up the act that they are all simply cohabitating in a shared AirBnB and definitely not falling in love with each other. Wait. This is actually The Talk of the Town. This movie actually exists and does veer this hard into polyamorous romance.
Tomatoes and Toast (1928)
Anna May Wong and Greta Garbo eat sandwiches for three hours. It's riveting.
One Soul, Two Bodies (1948)
Farley Granger and Vincent Price star as Alexander the Great and Hephaestion in this sword-and-sandals period piece. Though clearly made on a studio backlot with a budget of $3, the dashing romance grounds the chariot races and cardboard sword battle sequences.
Grand Central Station (1931)
Interconnected narratives of Josephine Baker, Joan Blondell, Dolores del Río, and Fredric March all vying for the last seat on the 5:45 train out to Poughkeepsie. When they realize they're jostling to sit next to the same sugar daddy who's been stringing all of them along, the four decide to unionize. Pre-code thrills; the four-in-a-bunk Pullman car scene remains notable for a reason.
I have more but I think I've gone a bit delirious.

If Kirk and Roddenberry Talked
Kirk: So you're my creator.
G.R.: I am. I tried to envision a perfected future. Now, I myself, am a polyamorous man.
Kirk: That's great, me too.
G.R.: I made you that way.
Kirk: That part is pretty great. I mean, I would hate to have to choose between Bones and Spock.
G.R.: ::spits out his coffee:: I'm sorry WHAT?
Kirk: What?
G.R.: I gave you female love interests of every size, shape, color, species, and description.
Kirk: I thank you for that, sir, but at some point a man has to settle down! I don't know if this had occurred to you, but romance is hard work, and I have a lot of responsibilities as a starship captain.
G.R.: (wistfully) Married to the Silver Lady.
Kirk: No. Married to my two best friends. You... intentionally made me poly... just so that I could be single forever?
G.R.: But, wait. Vulcans are monogamous. They fight to the death for their females.
Kirk: For their mates, yes. But Spock is half human, and so instead of killing Bones, he teases the shit out of him, insists everything he says is wrong, constantly wants to be on top---
G.R.: On... top...
Kirk: And occasionally bites him.
G.R.: I...
Kirk: Highly entertaining to watch.
G.R.: I simply assumed you'd be heterosexual.
Kirk: Sir, one time I fucked a plantoid. Everyone's genitals are compatible if you're not a coward. I'm much more concerned with a person's mind than their conformity to some arbitrary standard of beauty, and I couldn't care less about their gender.
G.R.: But Carol Marcus...
Kirk: Was a genius. I loved that about her. Why does this bother you so much, man? :: Realization dawns :: Oh. OH. I was your self-insert character. Wasn't I.
G.R.: The three of you were. Spock was my mind, Bones was my heart, and you were the balance between them.
Kirk: So you took one character, split it into three parts, made sure that we were a perfect orchestra of thought.
G.R.: Yes! Exactly that!
Kirk: And.... you're... confused... that we got married.
G.R.: :-(

^^all really excellent commentary and GREAT stuff to think about if you're way past the 'learning what metamours are' stage of exploring poly representation, and/or if you're writing stuff that's very different from typical romance formula.
i've seen a couple people in the notes of this very good post about fictional polyamory by @thebibliosphere say things along the lines of "oh, i've been doing it wrong :(" or "how do i know if i did this right??" or "i should probably give up and start over, i wrote this badly :(" and. no!!!!
(i AM seeing far MORE people say "oh, this clarified and helped me so much, i think i know how to fix issues i've been having with my own story" which. YES!!!!)
listen. if you're a monogamous person who's writing a polyamorous relationship, and you've been focusing mainly on The Triad and All Three Together All The Time as the endgame, that's literally fine. that's a perfectly acceptable and strong starting point for your plotting, imo. you do not need to give up on a story that you've started like this.
but the things discussed in the post Can and Should improve your execution!
you can keep the same plot beats and overall relationship arc 100%. polyamorous relationships are infinite in their formations, every one is unique. "basically a monogamous romance but with three people" Does exist, as a relationship type. you're not hashtag Misrepresenting (TM) poly people with it
BUT i do think it will help to read up on some poly people talking about how their relationships Differ from monogamous ones.
so i have outlined some basic important concepts about polyamory.
MORE IMPORTANTLY though, i've broken down some questions that you can answer throughout the writing process to strengthen your individual dyad relationships, your individual characterization, & your characters' individual feelings/experiences. this is a writing resource have fun
future kitkat butting in to say i spent over two hours writing this and it definitely needs a readmore. it is also NOT comprehensive. but everything should be pretty simple to follow! feel free to reblog if you find it helpful yourself or just want to reward me for how gotdan long this took KSLDKFJKDL.
i've grabbed quick links for a couple of the important concepts, some have SEO pitches in them but the info largely seems to be good. (if i missed anything Egregiously Gross on these sites i should be able to update the links with better ones later, since they're under the readmore.)
sidenote: this is NOT meant to be overwhelming, despite the length. if you can't read all of this, that's Okay. you do not need to give up on your writing.
here we go:
compersion!
compersion is a BIG thing in a lot of polyamorous relationships. it's joy derived from seeing two (or more) of your partners happy together, or joy derived from seeing your partner happy with someone else.
compersion is really important as a concept because it highlights that every individual relationship within a polycule is different -- and that that's a GOOD thing. it's sort of the inverse of jealousy.
by the "inverse of jealousy," i mean that instead of feeling left out and upset and possessive, you feel happy/joyous/content.
i can use personal experience as an example: it's a Relief for me when my partners receive joy/support/sex/romance/etc that i can't (or prefer not to) give them. and i love seeing my partners make each other laugh and be silly together.
it's 100% okay for a poly triad not to be together 100% of the time, it doesn't mean that the third member is being left out or not treated equally when two people do things alone together.
(i have individual dates with my partners all the time! PLUS larger 3-and-4-person date nights.)
if the third member DOES feel jealous or left out, then the polycule can have a conversation to figure out what needs/wants aren't being met, and solve that. this happens semi-regularly in my polycule, as it will happen in any relationship (including monogamous ones)! it's just part of being an adult, sometimes you have to talk about feelings.
metamours!
a metamour is someone who is dating your partner, but ISN'T dating you. this may not be relevant for people writing closed three-person romantic sexual triads, but it's a super helpful term to know.
the linked article also lists different types of metamour relationships with some fun phrasing i hadn't heard before. the tl;dr is: sometimes you'll be domestic cohabitation friends, sometimes you'll be buddies with your own friendship, sometimes you might not interact much outside of parties, every relationship is different.
there's no one-size-fits-all requirement for metamour relationships. sometimes polyamorous people will end up dating their metamour after a while (has happened to me), sometimes polyamorous people will break up with one partner for normal life reasons, but remain friendly metamours.
the goal of polyamory is NOT for EVERYONE to fall in love. it is 100% okay if this happens in your story, it happens in real life too! but it is also 100% okay for characters to be metamours without ever becoming "more than friends."
(sidenote: try to kill any internalized "more than" that you have when it comes to friendship. friends are just as important and special and vital as partners.)
of course there are a million ways for messiness to occur with metamours within a complex polycule, exactly like with close-knit platonic friend groups. however this post is not about that! there's enough "here's how polyamory can go wrong" stuff out there already, so i'm focusing on the positives here :)
open versus closed polyamorous relationships!
i'm struggling to find an online article that reflects my experience without directly contradicting at least SOME stuff. so i'll give a quick rundown
google has a bunch of conflicting definitions of open relationships and whether open relationships are different from polyamory. the general consensus seems to be that an open relationship prioritizes one partnership (often a marriage), but that each partner can have extraneous flings or long-term commitments (most often sexual in nature).
this is not typically how i use the term wrt polyamory. the poly concept is pretty simple. a closed polyamorous relationship is one with boundaries like a monogamous one. there are multiple partners in the polycule, but they are not interested in having anybody new join said polycule.
an open polyamorous relationship tends to be more flexible -- it just means that IF someone in the polycule develops mutual feelings for a new person, it's fine for them to become part of said polycule if they want to! the relationship/person is open to newcomers.
some groups will need to negotiate this all together, others will just go "haha, you kids have fun." just depends on the individuals!
with open AND closed polyamorous relationships, the most important thing is making sure that there's respectful communication and that everyone is on the same page. but there's no one-size-fits-all way to do that.
i wish i could give you guys a prescriptive "You Must Do It This Way" guide, but that's.... basically the opposite of what polyamory is about, HAHA.
feelings for multiple people!
i was gonna tack this on to the previous section but decided it warranted its own lil bit.
a defining feature (....i'm told?) of monogamous relationships is that a monogamous person only has feelings for One individual at a time. they only want a relationship with one individual at a time. or, if they DO have feelings for multiple people simultaneously, they're still only comfortable dating one person at a time & being exclusive with that one person.
this is perfectly fine!
the poly experience is generally different from this. but once again..... polyamorous people all have different individual perspectives on this.
for me, i have never been able to draw hard boxes around romantic vs sexual vs platonic relationships, & i love many people at once. my personal polycule lacks many strict definitions beyond "these are my chosen people, i want to forge a life with them indefinitely, whatever shape that life takes"
some poly people feel explicit romantic or sexual attraction to multiple people at once, some poly people feel almost no romantic or sexual attraction at all. i'd say that MOST poly people feel different things for different partners, which is not a bad thing!
some poly people are even monogamous-leaning -- they have just chosen one romantic partner who is themselves part of a larger polycule. (so this monogamous-leaning person has at least one metamour!)
or alternatively, they might have one romantic partner AND a qpr, or other ways of defining relationships. (this is a factor in my own polycule!)
i made this its own point because if you're writing a straightforward triad, this is unlikely to come up in the story itself -- but it's worth thinking about how your characters develop/handle feelings outside of their partnerships.
like, is this sort of a soulmateship, 'these are the only ones for me' type deal? in which they won't fall in love with anyone else, and can be fairly certain of that?
that's pretty close to typical monogamous standards but you Can make it work. just be thoughtful with it
alternatively, can you see any of these characters falling in love Again after the happily-ever-after? and how would the triad approach it, if so? what would they all need to talk about beforehand, and what feelings would everybody have about the situation?
it's worth considering these questions even if the hypothetical will never feature in your actual canon, because knowing the answers to these questions will help you understand all of the individuals & their relationship(s) MUCH better.
i've been typing this for nearly two hours and there's a lot more i COULD say because... there's just a lot to say. i'll close out with some quick questions that you can ask yourself when developing the dyad dynamics within your triad
first, take a page and create a separate section for each individual dyad. then answer these questions for every pair:
how does each pair act when alone?
how do they act differently alone compared to when they're with their third partner?
are there any elements of this dyad (romantic, sexual, financial, domestic, etc) that these two people DON'T have with the third partner?
if so, what are they?
are there any boundaries or hard limits within this dyad that aren't shared with the third partner?
if so, what are they?
partner 3 goes out of town alone for a few weeks. what are the remaining two doing in their absence?
(doesn't have to be anything special, it's just to get a sense of how the two interact on a day-by-day basis without the third there)
what is something that each partner in the dyad admires about the other -- that they DON'T necessarily see in the third partner?
what problem do These Two Specifically need to solve in the story before their relationship will work?
how is that problem DIFFERENT from the problems being solved within the other two dyads?
doing this for ALL THREE dyads is VITAL imo. that way, you develop complex and nuanced and different relationships that all have unique dynamics.
those questions should be enough to get you started, i hope
then After you've charted the differences in relationships, you can start to jot down similarities in the overarching triad. what does one person admire in Both of their partners? what are activities that all three like to do together? what are boundaries or discussions that all three share?
but the main goal is to figure out how to Differentiate each relationship!
a polycule is only as strong as the individual relationships within it. if two people are struggling with their own relationship, adding a third person won't fix that.
(UNLESS the third person is the catalyst for those two to, like, Actually Communicate And Work Their Shit Out. i just mean that the old adage of "maybe if we just add a third-" works about as well to fix a miserable non-communicative marriage as, uh, "maybe if we have a baby-")
AND FINALLY.
if you're not sure whether your poly romance reads organically to poly people, you can hire a sensitivity reader with poly experience. if you can't afford that, you can read up on polyamorous resources like a glossary of terms & articles actually written by poly people. (and stories written by poly people!)
you can also just.... ask poly people questions, if they're open to it. i like talking about polyamory and my own relationships so you're welcome to send asks if u want, i just can't guarantee i'll answer bc my energy levels fluctuate a lot and i don't always have time.
polyamorous people are in an uphill battle for positive representation right now & so the LAST thing i want to see is authors giving up on their stories bc they're worried about getting things Wrong. well-meaning and positive stories that treat this kind of love as normal, healthy, & aspirational are So So So Needed. even if you guys end up with some funky-feeling details.
seriously, if you're monogamous then you probably don't have a full idea of Just How Nasty a lot of people can get about polyamory. i wish it DIDN'T mean so much for you guys to want to write nice stories about us, but it does mean a lot. and it means a lot that you want to do it WELL.
in conclusion. this is not a prescriptive guide, it's just a way to raise questions. and also, you all are doing FINE.
#thank you jade!! i love this. a much more in-depth and simultaneously broader perspective than in the initial post#the OP that sparked this was about how poly romance novels often use like.... two hot boyfriends and endless threesomes as#the ideal endgame; mirroring typical monogamous romance arcs#so the main thought behind the og guide was just to add some nuance and depth to that extremely specific scenario#therefore it is very limited in scope and advice. your thoughts here are GREAT SHIT that can be applied to any genre or project#and your thoughts about the additional complexity and tension are also. chefs kiss#polyamorous relationships are difficult to write! they require more energy than juggling just two characters! but also so fun#(hopefully it's obvious but. these are clarifying tags for myself not argumentative/correcting ones. this addition is So Good.)#replies#long post#polyamory#writing advice#relationships

Honestly the whole bit with polyamorous bonded couples being a thing and aromanticism seemingly not being recognized in Vaugarde makes me wonder like. Do they ever have multiple partners where one part of the equation decides "hey, actually, we're better as friends than romantic partners"? and like. how do they handle that. Do they just stop practicing romantic acts but still consider themselves bonded, do they break up/divorce/whatever the Vaugardian equivalent might be, if they stay bonded do they still regard that relationship as highly as the romantic ones they have and is still as respected by their romantic partners? Do friends get bonded because they know they want to live together their whole lives but then meet pushback if one of them tries to get a romantic partner?
idk like. I feel pretty sure the ISAT crew themselves would handle it well if Isabeau and Siffrin and Mirabelle decided like. "hey Mira doesn't feel romantically about either of us BUT we all wanna be a part of each other's lives LET'S ALL ROCK EARRINGS." But how does it pan out for most people/what do they do.
(I also have a more general curiosity about what kind of love drama Vaugarde tends to see because like. Polyamory can be great! People are still people and can be messy. But then throw in the bit of people, especially Housemaidens feeling some pressure toward romance even if they don't have those feelings and. hm.)

Hey! Sorry to bother, but I was wondering if you can recommend any books with or about polyamorous relationships? I know there are some shows and movies that include polyamory, but as I'm more of a reader recently, I'd love to read something with at least a mention of such relationships, and good recs are hard to find.
I'm mostly interested in fiction, but if you have any non-fiction you think people curious about the topic should read, that'd be great too.
Again, sorry to bother you, but I've been thinking about it for a while and decided to shoot my shot. Thanks in advance for the response!
Unfortunately, I've not been able to read as much lately as I would like so I don't have many recommendations personally. I've heard of a few, but I'd hate to suggest something that ended up being... not very good 🫤
The only one I can vouch for is @thebibliosphere 's Hunger Pangs: True Love Bites 🧛which if somehow you haven't heard about before now, is a poly paranormal romance novel. The book spends most of its time on the relationship blossoming, so there's not quite as much with all three as I had hoped, but I'm pretty sure sequels are in the works! And I really liked what was there! Its not a bad thing to finish a novel and be left wanting more 😉The author is also super cool, making smutty and fluffy versions of the same book and writing free fanfic of her own work. Seriously, she's one to support.
Anyone else who has more to add, please do!! 📙📚📖I'll keep an eye on the notes and reblog some additions. Maybe the promise of good poly content will actually get me motivated to start reading again 😅
P.S. Please do not feel the need to apologize for sending in asks! I love hearing from others! 😍 Please keep asking things!!

Vinnie O’Neil is an Ace King🏳️🌈
GIF from @SkyTV
If you haven’t seen this show, Brassic, you need to now. It’s one of the funniest shows I’ve seen in years and the way it addresses mental health and neurodivergence is great!
But the one thing I’m most impressed with is how the show handles Vinnie’s sexuality. Spoilers below!
In the show, Vinnie, played by the adorable Joe Gilgun, has many friends of various genders and sexualities. Sex is addressed a lot on the show in a positive way: one character, Sugar, is a sex-worker, another, Tommo, is a pansexual polyamorous sex dungeon owner and there are other characters in various relationships. All the characters are supportive of each other. In one episode, Vinnie stands up to his friend’s family when they refuse to accept their son’s sexuality.
In this wonderful sea of sex positivity floats Vinnie; he is a self described dyslexic with Bi-Polar Disorder and anxiety (the actor Joe Gilgun has been very open about how the character is based off of his own mental health struggles). Vinnie is not sex averse, but it becomes glaringly obvious that he is much different from his friends when it comes to sex.
Vinnie tells his doctor that he hasn’t felt the urge to have sex for a long time because of the medication he takes for BD. Throughout the show, he never flirts with anyone. He gets flustered when people try to flirt with him. The only person he seems to be attracted to is Erin, his best friend’s girlfriend. He dotes on her, but never flirts or tries to romance her. He never looks at her in a sexual way. He gets this great puppy dog look on his face like he’s hanging on her every word. He shows his affection by stealing things for her (pebbling 🐧)
He does tell her he loves her and wishes they could be together. He blames himself for why they can’t be together because of his mental health. He also mentions in later episodes that sex unsettles him and complains about “why can’t people just have a nice cuddle?” 💕
Even though the creators haven’t confirmed, it makes sense to me that Vinnie is on the ace spectrum. Many neurodivergent people are! It was refreshing to see a character on a foul-mouthed, hilarious, mature-rated TV show abstain from sex! We don’t see many ace or even aro characters period.
So please check out this show! If you’re in the U.S. it’s on Amazon.

︵‿︵‿୨♡୧‿︵‿︵
To many it was definitely unusual, but to most women, it was pure envy. For Y/n L/n to be married to two men at once? Now that was a dream. Especially with it being Henry Cavill and Michele Morrone, accompanied on each red carpet with each man on her arms. Eyes going wide every time Y/n would place a kiss on each man’s lips, definitely taking her time with them.
It all started when all three were casted to play a love triangle in a new erotic romance movie and when it came to their threesome scene; they definitely got preoccupied practicing in their hotel rooms. Soon after that the three of them began a polyamorous relationship, agreeing that both men wouldn’t date each other, but both would date Y/n.
“Give me a kiss baby” Michele growled watching Y/n walk around their kitchen, all three still tired from their wedding the night before, let’s just say their first night as a married trio was spicy as fuck. “C’mere then hun” Y/n smirked tugging him over by his tie, her lips moving against his softly before she felt another large hand on the her nape direct her to another pair of full lips. Henry’s.
“Can’t leave me out pup, m’your man too” Henry moaned kissing her lips softly, each of them putting their hand on her breasts, kneading it softly through her thin white cotton shirt. Y/n’s arms going around both of their shoulders, their other hands pulling each of her thighs apart.
“Don’t worry both of you are my men, love you both so so much” She whispered kissing both of their cheeks,
︵‿︵‿୨♡୧‿︵‿︵
“What’s wrong baby? Why the tears cara?” Michele asked bending down to the crying woman sat on Henry’s lap on top of the toilet seat. Both of them came home from grocery shopping to find their little love bawling her eyes out in the bathroom.
“i-i’m sorry” She stuttered out feeling Henry push her hair back behind her ears, Michele brushing the tears off her cheeks. “What for bunny? You know we love you so so much” Henry whispered kissing the shell of her ear, his arms wrapped around her waist tightly, keeping her close to his chest to keep her warm.
“I’m pregnant” Y/n said looking at them both, Henry and Michele staying silent as they stared at her, when suddenly they both cracked into wide wide smiles. “That’s great news baby, didn’t we say we wanted kids?” Michele said taking her hands in his, his fingers rubbing over her knuckles comfortingly.
“I know but we’ve only been married a few months and-“
“Shh sokay bunny, we got you, we’re here for you. I mean we weren’t really using protection and there are two cocks in this relationship” Henry joked watching a small smile appear on her lips. “Don’t you care about who the dad is?”
“Not at all honey, regardless of who it is, we’ll raise them together yeah? You’re going to be an amazing mumma; Michele and I are going to be the best husbands you could ask for” Henry said as Michele nodded alongside him, Henry and Michele had already had this conversation. They didn’t see each other as competition, they were partners in a team, caring for the woman they both loved so dearly.
“I love you Henry” Y/n whispered kissing his lifts softly, their tongues mingling in a soft erotic kiss. “N’ I love you Michele” Y/n said turning her head to the Italian kneeling beside her, his mouth moulding perfectly against hers. “Now let us love on you a bit, take you to bed and give you some sweet sweet loving” Michele said picking up Y/n from Henry’s lap, bringing her over to their custom made bed, big enough to fit the three of them and with room to spare.
“One in each or both in one?” Henry asked winking, pulling down her pyjama shorts, before Michele answered, “Let’s try both Henry, she deserves it”
︵‿︵‿୨♡୧‿︵‿︵
“Isn’t she absolutely adorable Hen?” Y/n cooed holding up baby Amelia, the adorable little ball of joy cooing at her father, Michele on the other hand was sitting on the couch watching the scene play out before him. “She’s daddy’s little girl, aren’t you pet?” Henry gushed bringing her to his chest, the 11 month old shoving her hand into her own mouth as she gurgled in happiness.
“How are you feelin bun?” Henry asked giving Amelia into Michele’s waiting arms, all three of them had decided to not find out her biological father, deciding that both names would go on her birth certificate somehow. Michele blew raspberries on his daughter’s stomach, watching her big eyes smile up at him, her curls bouncing away crazily.
“Big, n’ happy” Y/n laughed smoothing her hand over her swollen stomach, pregnant once again, both men wanting it to be a fair chance of each of them having a baby with Y/n. Who would deny extra sex with two of the sexiest men? On top of that Y/n already saw how attentive they both were for Amelia, the best fathers that she could have hoped for, for their babies. 🙋 i am curious
IM SO GLAD YOU ASKED ‼️
So me and @happistar were chatting a bit ago and the topic somehow landed on Hey what if there was a Disney Channel Original adaptation of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Y'know, cuz they love loosely basing those off things you'd read in english class
We ended up with an entire plot summary. Below the cut bc I will not spare a single detail
Okay so this would be set in peak Disney Channel Original era, aka 2000-2010s, in highschool bc of course. Our protagonist is Henrietta Jekyll, a teen girl, bc that's your typical DCO protagonist.
She goes by Jekyll, because she hates her first name, and occasionally Dr. Jekyll, because her friends & chemistry teacher call her that as a quirky nickname for being very determined to get a PHD one day.
Jekyll's a certified Nerd™ who excels in chemistry, gets straight As, and participates in like 8 different clubs. Truly the academic pride of the school! She’s also overworked and definitely needs to take time for herself.
Her besties are Utterson and Lanyon, who tbh we never decided whether they get genderbent or not. They basically make up your bestie friend group of the DCO. The only bullet point I noted about Utterson is that they're like that one kid in good omens -- clearly born to do taxes. We know they're going to law school
So Jekyll wants to be popular, but her nerdiness keeps getting in the way. Like for instance, homecoming is on the horizon, and though her friends asked if she would go, she insists she can’t because she’s got too much homework (and is also kinda nervous).
So, with encouragement from her chemistry teacher, Mr. Stevenson (referencing RLS ofc), she creates a potion that will draw forth her Cool Side. This creates her alter ego, who names herself Emma Hyde. Emma because it's the name she's always liked, and Hyde because uhh… first thing that popped into her head?
Hyde has the cool goth/emo aesthetic, and with her laid back personality, easily slots into the Cool Kids. Oh, and among these cool kids is Dani Carew -- your typical bitchy popular girl.
(Do NOT question how signing up for class works at all. Hyde probably introduces herself as a transfer student (more like transformation student hahaha) and that’s all she needs because paperwork doesn’t exist in Disney Channel Original Movies.)
Cue your school based alter ego shenanigans. Jekyll likes the thrill of being Hyde but she's also worried because Hyde consistently ditches class, doesn't pay attention, and mouths off at the teachers. The only teacher that seems to even remotely like her is Stevenson, but he just likes everyone really. Jekyll is also frustrated because her grades are suffering.
Once homecoming comes around, Hyde's the one that ends up going. She has a great time! There’s a bit of a “oooh who’s this cool new kid” Cinderella moment. Jekyll wakes up feeling so alive after the experience!
There's probably a romantic love triangle thing going on as well, bc what's your DCO without romance. Not sure if both Jekyll and Hyde to have separate love interests or the same guy falls for both of them, but either way it is accidentally very polyamorous.
Anyway, at some point some drama between Jekyll & Carew escalates and Hyde decides to "murder" her. Since this is a DCO she will not be beating her to death with her cane, and instead just killing her popularity by spreading around an embarrassing photo or something.
This causes Lanyon to take issue with Jekyll's experiments, claiming she's gone too far. They have a fight that culminates in Lanyon exposing Jekyll/Hyde as the same person to the whole school.
Upset, Jekyll/Hyde have a Confrontation style fight before realizing that they have to accept each other to be their true self. They create a "cure" that merges them back together for a DCO happy ending. The moral is you have to embrace both sides of your personality, and Jekyll learns that while her school work is important, so is taking the time to have fun like Hyde. Post-merge, she retains Hyde's signature emo eyeshadow, and goes by Emma as often as Jekyll.
In like the last 5 minutes Mr. Stevenson reveals that he made the same potion back when he was a teen, which explains his affection for Hyde. We see a pic of his Hyde side, which is appropriately Cool for the 1970s. He also comments that he’s glad to see Jekyll has learned to take some time for herself. The end :)

After spending a childhood in isolation, Mikhail has finally been able to find freedom in academia. Pursuing the passion of their only solace; the forever gentle sound of song. Though, Mikhail has lived a life of naivety. A life shielded by the harsh faith of their church and family. Now Mikhail will discover the dark underbelly of the city of Vilyuchka — and what it means to be a composer in a city where crime and music are one in the same.
Demo: July 2024
The Garden Sanctuary is an 18+ horror, lesbian romance, and erotica interactive fiction. It takes place in a world built in Gaslamp Fantasy, with Art-Deco and 1920s influences. It is planned to be a browser-based visual novel style experience, with multiple illustrations and CGs placed throughout.
(Character bios and additional info can be found under the cut.)
CONTENT WARNING: The Garden Sanctuary is a HORROR and EROTICA interactive fiction. CWs include gore, violence, body horror, body dysmorphia, gender dysphoria, as well as internal and external transphobia, homophobia/lesbophobia, and ableism. The Garden Sanctuary also portrays critical views of the effects of CSA and incest from a personal perspective. (No on screen depictions, just the aftermaths of such events.)
MC: Mikhail Ilyushin - The Composer - They/Them
Mikhail Ilyushin was raised in one of the many churches of Vilyuchka who follow the single god of Lithos. From birth they were seen as sick, in body and mind alike. Thus they were sheltered from the rest of society in an attempt to protect their frailty from the outside world. During their time in the church they would occupy their dark upbringing with their passion for music. Mikhail had given up on the prospects of freedom. Until one day their overbearing family was contacted by a mysterious sponsor, who was somehow able to convince them to allow Mikhail to attend the University of Saint Yelena in order to pursue becoming a professional composer.
RO: Watcher Uriel - Patron of Pestilence - He/She/They
Watcher Uriel, the cursed angel forced to live on the outskirts of the city. Their very existence brings sickness. Her appearance is gruesome, no matter how hard she tries to mask her true form under a mortal glamor. In spite of the nature of their very existence, they long for only one thing: Love and affection. They are the head of a fanatic cult, obsessed with finding love for their holy angel. Nonetheless Watcher Uriel remains on the ceaseless hunt to find a soulmate. No matter the cost.
RO: Lucia Blackhart - The Violet Songstress - She/Her
Perhaps one of your only hopes of learning what the life of a composer entails. Lucia is not only a prolific melodist herself, she's also an extremely elusive detective. The catch: she only works with criminals in the Vilyuchkan Underbelly. Her allegiances are never set in stone. And while her services are invaluable, you can never fully set your trust in the Violet Songstress. Bonus Route: Because of her good natured relationship with Caim, it is possible to pursue a polyamorous route between the two of them.
RO: Caim - The Wonderland Ensemble, one of the Five Kings of the Vilyuchkan Underbelly - They/Them
Caim is a demonic being who surfaced in Vilyuchka many decades ago. Since then they have founded the Wonderland Ensemble, a ruthless crime syndicate known for its equal worship of pleasure and pain. Caim is an absolutely ruthless criminal, earning them the title of one of the Five Kings; a designation for the most dangerous and esteemed crime bosses in the Vilyuchkan Underbelly. Bonus Route: Because Caim is great friends with Lucia Blackhart, it is possible to pursue a polyamorous route between both of them.
RO: Headmaster Stelliana - Beholder of the Moon - She/Her
Headmaster Stelliana is the only companion you will meet on your journey that has the privilege of participating in regular society. She's a highly respected scholar, and lead of the academic group known as the Beholders of the Moon. Though she just poses as an intellectual elite, she holds a dark secret. Her and her fellow Beholders are apart of a cult seeking to resurrect the Old Gods. Only she and her fellow scholars know what this entails, and what fate this may bring about.
RO: ████████████ ████████████ ██████ ███ █████████
Something about this presence seems familiar. Yet foreign. I can feel my heart pounding against my ribcage. Is it fear, or is it fiery yearning that I feel? Nonetheless something inside of me burns. Threatening to sear through my sternum and breach the skin along my breast. Until we meet again.

one big thing about polyshipping for me is, like. you know how some people will have their eyes opened to homoerotic relationships in media bc they'll realize, "wait, if these people were two different genders, i'd 100% assume they're into each other. i have a double standard that i never noticed"?
there's a polyamorous equivalent in certain media that's basically just. "if you didn't assume this character is monogamous, you would 100% believe they have crushes on & are dating all of their friends." OR, "if this character wasn't dating somebody else already, you would 100% interpret this new friendship of theirs as a crush/budding romance."
usually the creators of the media aren't thinking about polyamory when they make it! usually the creators of the media are thinking "i want this character's friends to be as important to them as their romantic partners, we don't get enough of that in media," which is great and true and also EXACTLY WHY IT WORKS AS A POLY NARRATIVE. people will be like you don't Have to polyship why can't you just let platonic relationships be important ugh 🙄 & i'm like i did my years in the "why can't two men just be friends why does everything have to be gay 🙄" trenches. you're not doing this to me. we're not doing it about polyshipping. we're skipping over that whole discourse cutscene because i am Too Tired For It. don't even start
sometimes characters are so full of love and affection and joy for so many people that i start gnawing off my hands about how polyamory isn't normalized. because i'll watch/read certain media and i'll be like. listen. this is a polycule. i know you don't know this because your creators don't know this and that is totally okay but you are a Wildly polyamorous person who's ambiguously trapped in the 2000s/2010s with Big Monogamy psyops eating your brain. please let me free you. please i can give you Everything .
PLEASE KISS YOUR FRIENDS
#what i'd give for more mainstream toh art of the lavender winter quartet that doesnt pair them off together ignoring the others in favor of#their canon romantic partner. what i'd give for explorations of relationships between close friends that arent just#'we have convos about how much we love our canon romantic partners who arent here 💕'#LIKE IT'S CUTE AND HARMLESS. BUT IT MAKES ME FEEL SO LONELYYY#most days i'm fine with no one in mainstream fandom loving the way i do or feeling the way i do.#then some days i wake up thinking about hunter and luz being each other's Types (TM) and feel like ive eaten drywall#aside from the trc ot6 theres like NO polycule that's more desperately 'YOU GUYS WOULD BE CANONICALLY ALL TOGETHER IN A DIFFERENT TIME#PERIOD' than lavwin. IT TORTURES ME. THEY ARE ALL IN LOVE#anyway. i gotta get some more sleep.#thanks for listening everyone. think about the big monogamy psyops in your life and add people to their relationships. it's hilarious

UU Appreciation Week Day 3
Romance You Appreciate - Ripx(Latla,Leila)
This is the only one that's going to be a repeat from UUWeek2024, but I just couldn't show how much I appreciate UU without bringing this up again
My wife is polyamorous, and we both spent the entire Sick Arc praying that Tozuka would go the polyamory route, but we were pessimistic. Every time Tozuka showed all three of them happy together, we were convinced it was just bait, and that Leila would step aside for Rip and Latla
When the wedding chapter came out, my wife was asleep, but I had to shake her awake to let her know that our prayers had been answered
In so many romances, polyamory seems like it would be a great solution, or at the very least consistent with established characterization, but I can't say I've ever seen anyone in Jump commit to it with a major character. Now that I have, though, the bar has been raised. This happened the same week that the love interests in Elusive Samurai discussed and dismissed the possibility of polyamory, almost as if Tozuka was explicitly refuting Matsui's logic in refusing to go down that path. Time will tell whether other authors will take inspiration from Tozuka's choice, but I for one will hold them to a higher standard from now on
As I've said plenty of times by now, Ripx(Latla,Leila) is a perfect encapsulation of UU's themes of freedom and joy, and while some people can't appreciate that, their relationship will always mean the world to me and my family

Polyamorous person A at the center of a Vee with B and C. It's kinda new, they've been dating both partners for only a few months, but they really love them. B and C don't know each other yet, even if they are perfectly aware of each other.
A hasn't been able to introduce them because they are never available at the same time. B is a night owl who takes A on romantic date nights in fancy clubs and moonlit cimetaries. C is always off by eight PM, after fun-filled dates at amusement parks or hiking trails.
One day, however, A and C get lost and are unable to get home before sunset. A doesn't understand why C is so agitated, until C suddenly starts morphing into a half-wolf beast. Thankfully, C is still aware and doesn't attack, and they apologize profusely for hiding that they are a werewolf. A forgives them easily. After all, that's not exactly something that's easy to reveal. Good thing they are a dog person.
Things get more complicated though when some time later, during a hot date night, B accidentally nibbles on A's neck a little too hard and pierces the skin. A blanks out and only comes to their senses later, when B is whispering hurried apologies and desinfecting their neck, eyes glowing and long fangs struggling to retract. And of course A forgives them for hiding that they are a vampire. It not like there's an easy way to explain it. Good thing they enjoy the biting.
And now things are great cause there's no reason to hide, and A can enjoy spending time with both their partners as their true selves! But also, now B and C have way more windows to meet, and A can't help but get horribly anxious about it. I mean, a werewolf? A vampire? If fantasy romance books taught them anything, it's that these two species don't really like each other very much. And so A deperately tries to find excuses not to let B and C meet, and when they are out of options, goes through convoluted schemes to prevent each figuring out what the other is.
The plot twist is that, in real life, vampires and werewolves are actually symbiotic species and are very friendly with each other. B and C figured out what the other was ages ago, but independantly decided to play along with A because it was just too funny.

A Sagittarius Chaos Throuple
Summary: Rook x Idia x FEM! Reader. What a polyamorous relationship looks like for NRC's hottest Sagittarius'. Requested by @stygianoir
CW: Fem Reader.
A/N: If people like this, I can do the other signs, (I'm Libra in case you're wondering 😂) and I can make a gender neutral version. Just let me know!
Capricorn Aquarius Pisces Aries Taurus Gemini Cancer-coming soon
How it happens.
It all starts with Rook. We all know he's been trying to "get to know" Idia for a while. (let's be real. He already knows Idia. He just wants an excuse for an in that won't scare him)
When you come around, and he falls for you, it diverts him from Idia for a while. Obviously, Rook makes the first move. After he learns everything about you, that is. Now that he's got his beautiful girlfriend, you'd think he'd be satisfied, right? Nope.
In most cases, the reader proposes the Poly relationship. But this time is different. Roi de Ta Chambre is too alluring for poor Rook! If only his beautiful Mademoiselle Trickster could see it too!
He pushes you in the right direction, getting you into the games Idia is into, so that he will let you in. Then he joins on the escapades, as your boyfriend, thereby getting Idia comfortable with him as well. After a while, he sits you both down and proposes a poly relationship. The trick to pulling it off is comparing it to an anime Idia has been really into lately, so that he isn't overwhelmed by the idea.
What these three Sagittarius' get up to.
All three of you stay off the radar. But one day Rook is telling you about all the juicy things he hears when he hides in vents and trees, and now all three of you are doing it. Idia has created a smoke bomb, so that when you three gremlins get caught, you can make a hasty retreat. While Rook is a little disappointed that his street cred as being undetectable is going out the window, getting gossip with his beloveds is definitely worth it.
Study sessions? Study sessions. All three of you work hard on your homework and study together, and sometimes, after that, you start studying up on one of your hyperfixations. Idia's new video game? You're all researching cheat codes, lore, and secrets for hours. Rook's new target? You're studying the school layouts and plotting how he's going to get them.
Romance among Sagittarius is very affectionate, and it's no different here. It takes a bit for Idia to get past his insecurities, but once he does, he always wants a kiss from both of you for everything.
Top kiss request quotes,
"Loves, I just killed that boss. Praise me."
"Rook, you forgot to give me a goodnight kiss yesterday, so now you owe me."
"If I don't have a lover kissing each of my cheeks in ten seconds, I'm going to hack your phones."
Meanwhile, Rook makes sure that you all get cuddle time at least once a week. He likes watching his partners fall asleep with his arms around them.
He also sends you both off with a heated kiss before every class. Vil is this close to giving Rook another talk about PDA.
Rook teaches you both archery. When he realizes his throuple is made up solely of Sagittarius, he realizes you all need to be hunters. Under his guidance, the three of you become a menace to society.
Communication is great amongst you three. If something's upsetting someone, it's out in the open immediately. All three of you are very blunt about your feelings, but also very understanding. So resolutions are arrived at quickly.
Dates tend to be in Idia's room. You and Rook pretend it's for his comfort, but the reality is that none of you want to spend a lot of money on a date that you can go to in VR for free.
Overall, it's a surprisingly happy trio (for everyone but Vil, who does not enjoy you and Idia enabling Rook's bad habits) You all work together to make sure the throuple stays happy and mentally stimulated, and cause some chaos together. What more could you ask for?

Oh boy, this Is a complete love square....
Guys, I don't know what I have about polyamorous romances but it's like a strange feeling of 'look at that, no one is sad and everyone loves each other.'
That just crossed my mind when I saw the new member of the trio of strange friends (now it's a quartet).
Louise is a breath of fresh air among the extroverts that make up the group.
Louise is practically an introvert. Someone closed who was even the last to be chosen on the boat trip (if we leave aside the trio of protagonists). Louise mentions that she has been in the Sparrow Scouts for some time now but has made almost no friends (or so I think).
I understand what it's like to be an introvert, more or less. I am the type of person who acts with a lot of concern, nervousness and gets serious so as not to say something stupid the first time they meet him... However, when I gain the necessary confidence I transform into someone different. I go from being 'a mouse thinking carefully about its next move' to becoming 'a monkey with a shotgun'. I hope I'm not the only one to have that strange way of being....
My life aside, I'd say Louise is kind of like that too. At first she tries to fit in by being normal with the team, but then she begins to get to know them and identify what things the trio of friends think are right or wrong and that is when Louise begins to show more of her personality. It emerges from the cocoon like a butterfly to show its true colors.
And in short: it is perfect for the trio of friends. It's so weird and different that I feel like it's necessary for the group, and I'm speaking in a positive way when I say weird. A good time. Now the main topic..... Romance.
I've seen a lot of Frida X David, Hilda X Frida, David X Frida fanfics and blogs, there's literally everything. But with the arrival of Louise the combinations are doubled. Now it could be Louise X David, Louise X Hilda, Louise
*Music from a 80's TV game show plays*
Hello ladies, gentlemen and other magical creatures who visualize us! I want to welcome you to this little head-canon idea I had of what each character in the trio of friends would be like if they were Louise's partner!
To do this, we will see the qualities of each suitor and what their dynamic with the character would be like:
Let's start with the one who represents better than anyone the shyness and courage that exists within us, he died twice to try to demonstrate it. Here we have David.
David may be a scary guy, but he will definitely come to save you if you are in danger. This kid would literally show what he's made of on a battlefield if he feels like he needs to prove something.... Don't tell me no, we've all seen the Vikings episode.
Our next contestant is not only smart in school but also in witchcraft. If you ask him about a certain topic, rest assured that when he finishes his talk you will at least have knowledge of the entire topic and its related subtopics. She is willing to do anything for her friends, she would even open a portal to the unknown and create non-existent spells just for you. Let's give a big, fervent wave of applause to the young city witch: FRIDA!
Frida may have been a bit of a perfectionist in the past, but after meeting Hilda and experiencing several events she went from being miss perfect to becoming the smartest friend you can count on. To be honest, sometimes Frida can be a bit boring, but that doesn't stop her from reaching your heart by showing great gifts of her intellect and the magic she possesses means that any topic can arise from a conversation. So, if by 'boring' we mean a lot of context and extremely long topics that she explains to you with excitement and great happiness, then boring is pretty good.
Finally we have the icing on the cake, or in this case the blueberry. Coming from the wild and with more extroverted energy than any of the other candidates mentioned above, we have a young woman with blue hair as long as she could grow it (I don't doubt that she would have let it grow longer if it didn't bother her in her adventures). This girl can literally make friends with almost anything and her circle of friends is huge, ranging from elf scribes to giants who are no longer on this planet. She would be the one to always take the first step in battle with her sword if I see it necessary and— Wait, where did he get that sword?
With you, Hilda!
Seriously, where do I get it from?
Hilda is by far the most outgoing and curious person I have ever seen. Don't you remember what Tofoten was triggered by his curiosity? Dude, it was literally the end of the series. And if you hadn't already noticed, this girl would fight barehanded against a king to save her loved ones. She would be the first to take up weapons to save her friends, she is capable of moving every rock in the entire city to find her pet, she is even capable of doing an act of terrorism just because the bells were bothering her friends.
Oh my god, I'd be afraid of this girl if I were someone who played some practical joke on David in the past or something. I would be locked up at home for what might happen to me. Better confinement than meeting Hilda on the street and having her recognize me.
So.... In a little while we will see Louise's possible choices about who she would like to be with, why I think they would be a good couple and also about what their relationship would be like. And it wouldn't just be from my point of view. Indeed, dear reader, you can also have your opinion. Comment what you think a relationship between Louise and any of our favorite trio of friends would be like.I retire to write incorrect quotes and more about this romance because I am burning with emotion. See you later
