AU where some of the Dark Forest warriors in the Great Battle choose to fight on the side of the Clans because they
--knew they messed up and want to make up for it
--weren’t ‘evil’ like cats like Tigerstar, but blinded by something that is now gone
--have kin they want to protect
It would have been nice to see the condemned as more three-dimensional. I mean, Starclan was going to condemn Leafpool and Squirrelflight, so there must have been at LEAST one cat in the DF that is actually super chill.
We see some of that in TBC which I really liked, so yay for that

What was Tigerstar's ultimate goal in the bonefall au (while living)? Was it still simply to have complete power over all the clans with himself at the top?
Similarly, do you have an actual goal/plan for the Dark Forest cats? It always bothered me that in canon their machinations seemed to start and end with 'we evil kill all the living'.
The ultimate goal is to replace StarClan. Tigerstar wants to get as much influence over the living world as possible so that he can become the new God of the Clans. After all, StarClan is a pantheon now, the founders being respected and worshiped for generations-- why would it not be the case that the Dark Forest could take that?
So he wants as much influence as possible.
Replace cats in positions of power-- deputies, leaders, senior warriors
Remove the Clerics who can communicate with StarClan, so the living cats have no one to turn to.
Reward their supporters as much as possible and show they are more responsive gods.
But there's a catch; the Dark Forest is DIVERSE. These people have wildly different motivations, temperaments, and opinions. You could even say..... getting them to cooperate is like herding cats
So keeping the coalition together is a priority. Hawkfrost is usually sent in and forced to do diplomacy. It's working for a while. They even manage to get Applefur, Redwillow, and Ratscar into power for a while, while ShadowClan is disbanded.
(newcomers: Sol's destruction of ShadowClan is being moved here; FOLLOWING the death of Russetfur. He leads again when his CLAN approaches him, not magic starclan intervention or false signs)
The Great Battle is the day of the true Eclipse. The one in Po3 was only an illusion caused by Sol, a god of chaos. Out of desperation and it being the ONE day they will possibly be able to attack the Clans, the Dark Forest launches a last ditch assault in an attempt to kill as many powerful warriors as possible.
SO kittens, apprentices, queens, non-combatants, they will actually not be attacked. They wanted to destabilize the Clans, not just Do Mean Things.

starclan could also be reluctant to go because they are like. cowardly. and of they are killed by living cats, they are Dead. or if they are killed by dark forest cats, even! who knows! and the affairs if the living only matter if it will hurt Their Afterlife, etc. (i know there are characters this sentiment wouldn’t apply to, like fire & blue & spotted etc)
Here's the reason why I want to avoid making StarClan canonically cowardly;
Think of 10 characters who are in StarClan currently. It doesn't matter who; just list a random 10 right now.
You got your 10?
Now imagine how they would react if they were told their loved ones are in danger right now. The way of life they were doing everything to preserve and protect is under threat, and that THEIR power may be threatened as well if the living Clans fail.
You can bump that number up to 20, 30, that answer is never going to look like complete, cowardly abandonment. Whenever you put names to 'faceless masses', it's hard to suddenly paint the whole group as something it wouldn't be.
So StarClan can't abandon them without a good reason. The reason I'm putting in there is that a lot of them are probably out of practice, and StarClan needs a lot of cats to run the supernatural things it does. It doesn't feel like ENOUGH yet so I'm also looking for ways to limit the amount of warriors who CAN come down, you get me?
Like maybe Jayfeather is only strong enough to bring forth cats with a strong enough will to fight, and enough of a connection to the living? Maybe he collected tokens that cats have been holding onto so he could do a super-channeling?
It could be interesting if someone had to cover him as he summoned the StarClan warriors, like he's completely vulnerable as he calls them forth...
