Pony and Johnny sat in front of the TV that was playing Christmas Mickey Mouse, Two-Bit joined them. Soda and Steve tried to see how many marshmallows they could fit in their mugs without spilling them and piling onto the couch, totally not spilling a bit. Dallas sighed as he sat on the couch diagonal from the boys on the floor, silently sipping his hot chocolate.

Dallas always hated hot drinks that weren’t coffee. His main liquid intake was alcohol, water and coffee. He hated tea. And he hated hot chocolate even more. But something deep inside of him made him shut his trap for once. Maybe it was because this Christmas eve was spent with the very few people who cared about him. And for once in his life, he felt warm inside, happy. But of course he would grimace at every sip.

Darry followed behind, sitting in his dad’s recliner, looking around to make sure everyone was happy. It was the second Christmas without their parents. And he was proud that he had done enough to make the other two Curtis’ seem happy and forget about it once in a while. He was content, and happy.

Soda and Steve had slurped down their marshmallow stuffed hot chocolate before Darry sat down. Clearly, it had worn them out as they drooped on the couch half asleep and practically on top of eachother. Steve was happy to be with his best buddies, who actually gave a damn about him. Soda was happy because he learned life goes on. And that it might not be okay in the moment, but everything’s gonna be alright in the end.

Two-Bit, had a mustache of the chocolate from the mug he finished seconds ago, but too engrossed in the cartoons to care. He would crash the second this was over and they would rerun Christmas carols instead of anything good. And at six am the next morning, he would run over to his house to help his mom carry presents to bring over here so everyone could be together, and because his little sister sure did love herself some Dallas Winston. Even if Dallas grumbled about it, he sure had a soft spot for the little girl. Two-Bit was happy. Because being a greaser, not many people make it far. But he’s proud he has. He’s got good friends, a little sister who’s growing up to be just like him, and a hard working mama who loves him to death despite the poverty they face. He was happy.

Pony had fallen asleep not too long ago, his mug half finished, his head laying on a throw pillow and a blanket over him as he lay next to Johnny. Darry would move him to his room later. But, Pony was happy. He still had the magical touch, thank goodness. After everything, Pony was very adamant on everyone being asleep by midnight, so Santa could still come. Johnny knew. He had the unfortunate experience of knowing early. But he would keep up the act for his best friend. The magic and beliefs only last so long. Johnny wishes he still believed. But pretending for Pony makes everything seem better. He was just happy to be there, to be loved.

So as everyone slowly drifted into a Christmas Eve slumber, the colorful lights blinking over everyones face. Everyone was together. And everyone was happy.

Happy.

That was something everyone had felt in a long time. And they’d never let it go.

I didn’t know why I was stuttering so much all of a sudden, I already knew what I was gon’ say and I already knew that I had to switch out every ‘He’ with a ‘she’… so I didn’t know why I was so nervous. Maybe it was that fact I was talking to my best friend’s older brother about my crush on my best friend but I dunno. I had gotten myself all lost in my thoughts when I was interrupted by him saying—

Darry gave a smile to me, it was real sweet. I always liked it when Darry smiled at me, reminded me a bit of my ma… golly do I miss her.. I can’t remember much about her other than her smile and that I really miss her. Whenever I try to ask about her to my old man he either just takes another drink of beer and ignores me entirely or starts yelling at me till he gets himself mad enough to start wailing on me.

“What do you wanna say about her, kid?”

He said as he put a hand on my shoulder and smiled at me, he then leaned back onto the mattress and stared at me with a smile as he waited for me to speak. I sat for a moment trying to wrangle my scattered thoughts in my head

Steve silently fiddled with his hands, ready for a lecture or a hit or anything. He had told his dad about this once when he was younger, he had a crush on soda since he was 7. When he told his dad he said he liked a boy and his dad beat him so hard his nose bled and he had bruises all over. He was so used to being beaten that the thought that Darry wasn’t gonna hit him didn’t even cross his mind. Steve was surprised when Darry just put a hand on his shoulder

“Just talk to him, be yourself… That’s all you can really do. Maybe ask ‘im what he likes or just see what he likes and give him something relating to that”

Darry said with a gentle smile, another smile that reminded him of his mom. Darry stood up and hugged Steve gentle before leaving. Steve just watched him silently, he had to sit for a second to compute what Darry was saying. Be himself?? When did broads ever like it when he was just being himself? I mean whenever he was out with a broad and he’d start prattling about cars they always just watched uninterested. That’s all he really talked about. Steve loved cars, he always did. Fixing up a pretty soc car or reading books about cars… he loved them so much. But nobody ever wanted to hear about them so he was honestly starting to like them less and less. But at the same time… He wasn’t a broad. He was his best friend. His best friend who also loved cars, albeit not as much as him but he still loved to hear Steve talking about it. He’d just sit there and rest his cheek in his hand and watch Steve as he talked and talked about cars. Giggling randomly and blushing a bit at Steve. Now that Steve thought about it that’s how broads would look at him and giggle when they were really feeling him.. He thought that was a little suspicious but it was whatever. This guy wouldn’t realize soda was in love with him if it was a metal pole and hit him in the face 27 times.

It had been a week since Darry and Steve’s interaction, he slowly noticed that Steve and Soda had been going places together a lot more than usual, and that’s saying something since they were practically attached to the hip 24/7. Darry watched from afar as the two started basically going on dates disguised as hang outs. And eventually, a month later, he caught them kissing on the couch when they thought nobody was home. He never told anyone tho, he just assured them that their secret was safe with him and just to go to soda’s room cause he didn’t wanna watch his kid brother swap spit with one of their mutual friends. The previous generation (their parents) called out DUMP on mistreatment of human born and unempowered humans (being detained, lack of jobs and representation) which started a whole commotion for the treatment of everyone but empowered humans (feeders, humanborn, and unempowered humans) and led to restructuring of DUMP. Think if there was a magical civil rights act and equal employment act. Anyway, my SH comes into play when DUMP catches them in the wrong place/wrong time and some higher ups think this is the perfect moment for revenge - either SH goes to jail and destroys their family's upright reputation and a family member's run for office OR they work for DUMP as a way to keep an eye on the family. They hate every second of it and face a lot of pressure to conform (gender presentation wise, accepting smart comments about being a stealth and some other microaggressions) but they want to protect their family.

What are your listener's most important relationships and who are they connected to? Their most important relationships are for SURE with their family. Since dating Milo, they finally told their family why they started working for DUMP (lots of anxiety but they were met with a lot of support and love). They are super close to their family (which is a big extended family, lots of aunt and uncles and cousins and nieces and nephews and so on) and so they spend lots of time at family dinners/parties/celebrations and love to bring Milo with them. Because their family (unintentionally at first) became so politically active in Dahlia for the rights of human-born, unempowered humans, and feeders, they have a lot of political connections through their own work and through their family members - definitely in a well connected family!

What's your listener's hobbies/interests? They love to dance - big inspiration for them. They like partner dances and particularly love Bachata (something something fond memories watching their parents and family dance together and learning as they grew up) but they just like to dance in general. What kind of lover are they to their partner/what kind of friend are they? In a few words - silly-goofy, observant, and a whore (said with love). As for a friend, still silly-goofy and observant, but I think they're affectionate as hell. Think of a really sociable cat.

What is something/are some things that your listener values? They really value family and community - firm believer in it takes a village and we are all our brother's keeper (except of course when it comes to them because they should be able to help everyone and not need any help themselves. sweetheart things.) There is no understanding how invested they are in protecting and standing up for their community and that's why they put in 4x more work (and overtime) than others at DUMP - they believe in helping people and not going with the easy solution. So family, community, doing something you're passionate about every day, and fairness/justice.

I just have an image of Milo and SH dancing to this song together in the kitchen while something is simmering on the stove ok?

What's the inspiration behind your listener's design? I wanted a listener who could dance really well, and decided a speaker who DEFINITELY can dance is Milo. And then I had to figure out the whole cop thing, so here we are.

Could you give me a vague concept of what your listener's visual vibe is? Modernized sexy noir film - but if you could be the femme fatale and the detective and the criminal at any given point. Truly, they do it all.

What are some extra tidbits you wanna tell me about your listener? Neither Milo nor Sweetheart are good with scary stuff (despite them being a stealth) and neither of them are killing bugs. They call David or Asher to handle them (I think David kills them but Asher puts them outside). Sweetheart and Aggro? Best friends. Milo complains that they're closer than him and Aggro - something about a stealth having cat energy and Aggro just gets it. "The girls that get it, get it, Milo."

Laveau's Listener Design Lab - design #001 - Sweetheart - Lexi Moon

Heyyyy Lexi! Good to see you in my inbox and congrats on getting your listener as the first design for the labs! It was wonderful getting to work on a SH and your concept really stood out to me when I first saw it so I had to draw it up!

Design Notes!

For this design, your initial concepts made me think of a few people I could implement for inspirations to your SH's design. Those people being Catwoman from DC and Gomez Addams from the Addams Family!

From Gomez, I wanted to make Sweetheart's suit similar to the patterning of Gomez's while adding Catwoman's femme fatale flair to the design. You made a note where you wanted SH to look like a detective, a femme fatale and a criminal all in one go so I chose to aim for darker blues to show professionalism whilst implying a sense of mystery to the character–and of course we can't forget every femme fatale's signature bold lipstick colour. You can also see some of Catwoman's influence in the nails as I figured it'd be fun for them to make witty remarks while snapping back at Milo with hand gestures. Additionally, I decided to add a few embellishments to show SH's lack of total compliance to the dress code of D.U.M.P by giving them piercings and tattoos; The moon earrings here is my favourite because every SH should have a moon motif but also given the symbolisms associated with the moon and the energy you wanted your SH to capture, I felt it was the perfect choice; the blue rose tattoos are also fun imo because the thorns can be interpreted as restrictive shackles or as "a rose with thorns", the choice to also incorporate blue roses was also informed by my knowledge of what they mean symbolically (that being mystery, admiration, uniqueness and aspiration) . Finally, I also tailored SH's clothes to be more ready for action whilst being fashionable and danceable (including the oxford shoes I added) so they can always move unrestrained whilst also being the hottest thing that Milo ever laid eyes on.

Overall, this was a really fun concept for me to work on and I really enjoyed being able to design your listener, hope you enjoy!

Meet minty fresh!

A Fresh Sans varient, minty was found a lonely young parasite housed in a female sans body by fresh when she was a child. ( Her story starts before that but that will be revealed later :) )Being a parasite, it was rough for minty and she had a tough time finding a place to call home and friends. Seeing a bit of himself in minty, fresh adopted her as a little sister of sorts, raising her and showing her how to properly parasize. Minty remains in the body of a singular sans Instead of jumping from body to body, able to maintain its form without dusting due to her parasite's odd ice powers.

As a result of her time roaming the multiverse, minty is cautious of people she doesn't know, hiding her fear of abandonment and violence under a facade of excitement, bubbilyness and friendly jokeing. However, shes very curious and, to her brother's chagrin, very interested in pushing the mold he put her in of moral ambiguity. Though he himself is morally grey and tends to roll closer to the star sanses and "the good guys", minty seems more interested in the bad Sanses, Nightmare's crew and thus, more prone to selfish actions. Her kindness and feelings are not a facade but she won't hesitate to go to any measure if you get in the way of her curiousity and loves to see what makes others tick.

She takes " it was just a joke" to the very crumbling edge of good-faithedness. She wants to see the extent of everything from how much sadness dose it takes for you to feel numb to how far you can twist your arm till it breaks. Her dark curiosity knows no bounds and that certainly interests the type of nightmares and errors than dreams and inks. It doesn't help she seems to have a thing for bad boys thou 👀

While fresh is 90s fashion and greaser is 50s fashion, Minty is pure Y2k/2000s. She was mostly inspired, as are some of her other outfits (not pictured) by winter/Christmas outfits give to the Bratz dolls, in this case, Sasha's. She's a lot more stylish than this I swear lol this is her utility gear

Please don't ship her or draw her romantically/sexually with fresh (greaser and other fresh variants are fine), he may not be her blood brother/clutchmate but he raised her so they have a very close sibling relationship and i don't want my characters involved in incest ships. Just about every other ship is fine though. I obviously can't stop you but I will block you :)

Greasers Find a V4pe (Headcanon)

Dallas is walking down the road to the Curtis's house and kicked something with his shoe by accident. He picks it up and takes a good look at it. "What the hell..?" He said, his accent coming through heavy.

Dallas takes one last drag of his cigarette and puts it out. He notices two holes in the device, as if he could blow into it. He tried that, but it didn't work. So he decided to inhale.

His throat burned for a moment, almost like a Kool but not quite. As Dally exhaled, he saw a thick cloud of smoke. There was also a flavour in his mouth. A sweet flavour that reminded him of Coca Cola. His face dropped in amazement then started running to the house.

Dallas burst through the door and the people in the living room turned. Steve, Pony, and Soda were sitting there shocked. "Dally, what's wrong?" Ponyboy asked, concerned.

"I-I don't know, man, but I found this thing! It's.. It's like a cigarette but it has a flavour. Tastes like Cola."

Addi ran from her's and Pony's shared room and into Dally's arms. "What's this?" She said after she pulled away and took the device from him.

"No clue, doll. Here, Steve, try it." Dallas said, taking it from Ads and tossing it to Steve. Pony looked concerned and confused, no clue with what was happening.

"I wanna try after you!" Addi and Pony said in unison.

"I'm older!" Pony yelled at the blonde in front of him.

"I'm younger!" Ads fought back.

"Girls, girls, you'll both get a go." Steve said as he gripped the thing in his fingers. "How the hell do I use this?"

Dallas shrugged slightly before explaining. "I mean I just inhaled it like a weed, so-"

There was an abrupt coughing from Steve as he gripped and clawed at his own throat, smog spewing from his mouth. "Holy shit! He's right, it does taste like Coke!"

"ARE YOU DYING?" Johnny piped up as he peaked his head out of the bathroom.

"Woahhh.." Sodapop said, like this shit was a magic trick, his little siblings looking on in utter shock and amazement.

The twins looked at eachother and tossed themselves onto the floor to grab the cigarette like thing. "Give it here!" "My turn!" "Screw off!" Was all that could be heard as they rumbled on the floor.

Steve sat there at his spot on the floor and started laughing hysterically. "Nah, nah. Johnny, you wanna try?"

The small figured boy stepped out of the bathroom, a towel concealing his waist. "Yeah, man, pass it here." He said as Steve threw it overhand and Johnny caught it in one hand.

"Mind you, Johnnycakes, it kinda burns your throat. Like your first cigarette." Dallas said over the yelling 15 year olds on the floor as they rolled and rumbled.

Johnny took it and inhaled slowly, the bottom of the thing lighting up. He held back some coughs and exhaled from his nose, the same smog spewing from his nostrils.

"Damn, you took that shit good." Soda said before he yelled at the twins. "Hey! Cut it out, you'll get a turn!"

They looked up as Pony had half of his sisters hand in his teeth and his hand in her hair. "Huh?" They hummed through grit teeth.

"Let go of my hair!" Ads said before Johnny tossed her the device. It landed on the floor and her hand moved quickly to grab it. Pony got off of his sister and punched her in the tricep. "Ow! You little sh-"

"Hey! I said enough!" Soda exclaimed in a mom-like manner. "Addi, get your turn."

She grinned at her twin mischievously before she lifted the thing to her lips and inhaling. She coughed a little as smoke escaped her lips. "You good, hun?" Dal said as the teen coughed even more.

"Yeah, yeah." She said before handing it to her brother.

Pony glanced up and nodded with a thank you and brought it to his mouth and inhaled. He didn't cough at all and smiled as he exhaled slowly. "Holy shit.. OH my head feels funny..."

"YEAH! I was gonna say that!" Said Johnny as he grinned.

Soda opened his hands like he was waiting for a football. "Here, Pony." He quick caught it and was hesistant to try it for a moment. As he inhaled, his face contorted into a weird grimace. "Oh.." He spoke, his voice deeper than usual.

He coughed out the smoke when Darry and Two-Bit walked in. "What's happening?" Two said carelessly.

Soda tossed him it and he caught it as Darry tiredly walked to the kitchen. "Whaddy'all want for dinner?"

The twins piped up "Soup!" And everyone agreed.

"Perfect, easy." He said before squeaking the stove on and starting on the meal.

"Soda, what's this?"

Everyone shrugged, but Dallas explained. "It's like a weed but at the same time, it's like steam? I found it on the side of the road about 20 minutes ago on my way here."

"Sick, how do you use it?"

"Just inhale it I guess?" Ads said softly.

As the water heated, Darry walked in and kicked Dallas out of his chair before he sat in it.

"Tastes like Cola." Pony and Soda said in unison. "Kinda weird." Soda finished.

"Oh?" Two-Bit quickly tried it, taking it like a troop with no coughs or nothing. "Damn! That's nice. Head feels funny though."

He passed it to Darrell before he slid down the wall to sit on the floor. In the meantime, Johnny had already gotten dressed, wearing one of Pony's shirts since his was dirty.

Dallas once more explained what the device was to Darry and he tried it. He coughed a couple times, but exhaled the smog carefully. "Wow. That tastes ten times better than a weed."

They all laughed and agreed as Addi got up to sit on the couch with Johnny and Dallas. "Do you think we could do tricks with it?" They all started chattering softly about it

They once again went around in turns trying ghosts and French inhales and Os.

The best Os came from Johnny, Pony, and Darry,

the best ghosts came from Dallas, Pony, Addi, and Steve,

and the best French inhales came from Soda, Two-Bit, and Addi.

All the greasers laughed and tried to figure out a name for the thing. "Well, since it's like steam what about a steamer?" Two-Bit suggested.

"What about a smoker?" Sodapop piped up.

Everyone disagreed.

Then Pony had the best idea. "Well, if it's steam that's water vapor... What about..."

Both the twins spoke up, "Vape?"

Everyone liked that and they decided to keep that name. They all kept talking and stuff as Darry finished up dinner.

The teens all got a bowl of soup and kept hitting the vape, when suddenly it got back around to Steve.

The light on the end started blinking and no smoke came out. Everyone was DEVASTATED.

"IT'S DEAD!" Johnny yelled.

"We should hold it a funeral." Addie suggested.

And that's what they did after dinner.
