#grandpa Shikaku

Hi im trying to find a fic. PLEASE HELP. Its a Grandpa Shikaku AU. With shikadai and shinki and the whole fam. And like i remember theres a chapter on gardening. Theres a gardening club. And kakashi and guy are like together too. Shikadai and temari likes tomatoes. And theres also a beach chapter where shikaku and yoshino take shikadai and shinki to the beach. Theres also a chapter where they found a poisonous bug/caterpillar(?) and shino-sensei pays them a visit. GAWD PLEASE HELP ME FIND THIS FIC. I remember it was om AO3 but i cant find it anymore

Once Shikaku realised that his son was in fact not hurt, he chuckled at the spectacle that lay before him. Who knew Shikamaru could still be so dramatic?

“You do realise that this is how normal children behave, right? That is Naras are the exception to the rule, and even then some of us aren’t quite so lazy. Ensui would rarely sleep during the day when he was this age… pain in the butt.”

Shikaku shifted his grip on Mirai and gently set her down, “How about you go and sleep and Mirai and I will spend some time together?”

Shikaku couldn’t contain his grin as he picked up his little granddaughter and hugged her tightly, “Don’t worry about that, little doe. It’s just a bit of flour.”

He frowned, however, as he approached the kotatsu.

“Son, are you alright? Do you need a healer?” He asked calmly, hoping not to worry Mirai.

Kakashi: cyclops, pirate, eyepatch, doggy (little naru)

Anko: snake-lady, miss scary snake lady

Shikaku: Shika the first, lazy-san

Genma: oral fixation-San, bandanna man

Teuchi: God

Kakashi hears “Pirate-san” for the first time and wonders if this is actually his punishment for everything he has ever done.

On the other hand, Shikaku hears “Tall Shikamaru” and knows this is exactly his punishment and goes to pour himself another drink.

Teuchi heard them call him god once and offered “Grandpa” out of self defense. They still call him god just to annoy him (and get a slightly bigger portion of ramen that none of them mention lest he stops)

Shikaku looked up from the book he had been reading and removed his glasses in order to properly take in his adult son’s appearance.

He looked normal, but there was definitely something off.

Yup! I love Shikaku and Yoshino. The ultimate Male Wife and Girlboss pair. I have a HC that if Shikaku wasn’t the Jonin Commander he’d rather stay at home and work just to be with his family. It fucking SUCKS that we didn’t see more of Yoshino and her abilities. Like I know she was fierce against Pein. But I love them.

So I just finished reading Five (I found it recently) and first off lemme say: its AMAZING. Your mind is a treasure trove cause the comic is absolute genious. I was wondering if you could explain a little more of what happened to Shikaku's mom. Im confused on how his grandpa turned her over to ROOT (I understand the why just not the how she ended up in that position) also GODDAMN, why you gotta go and make her hot??? Like there is not enough content on this woman to help me with my hyperfixation.

As for Shikaku's mom (re: Shikata), she was tortured by enemy nin to a degree that rendered her both infertile and unable to sign for the forseeable future, so she effectively became useless to Grandpa Nara, who pretty much only wanted her to have male kids and be a soldier. He gave her up to ROOT as a means of winning a favour from the Hokage / Danzo, as ROOT at the time was only a couple of years old and was always in need of recruits, especially those with Clan-exclusive bloodline techniques. Doubly so if they didn't need to be brainwashed too terribly much to be loyal to Konoha, because that was more efficient.

ROOT, as we can remember, is an underground organization that commits wetwork atrocities for Konoha's benefit, even against Konohan citizens, so it needs to keep its soldiers both quiet and loyal. Eventually Danzo would recruit a Hyuuga/fuinjutsu user that would develop the tongue-sealing technique that Sai has (and Yoshino has in the comic) to keep them from speaking about the organization or against it, but at the beginning the best Danzo could manage was cutting out the soldiers' tongues to keep them silent. So that's why Shikata doesn't have a tongue :'(

Glad you find her hot, 'cause I like to think the reason Shikaku's so handsome is 'cause he inherited his momma's looks heheh :3 Most of her personality and fire was brainwashed out, but since she was recruited as an adult and not a child, there's still a bit of humour to her even under ROOT's intense conditioning. She laconically expresses the Nara trademark "Mendokusē/What a drag" phrase using the sign for 'tedious'.

kakaku (tentative ship name bcause all the others suck) is SO.

theres one fic i read on ao3 that Opened my eyes to it and its currently living in my head and driving me insane. i think kks + skku is something that happens Mostly accidentally. in my head, shikaku + yoshino separate around the time shikamaru is six ish just because theyre mutually gay and work better as friends, theyre still both very close and care for their son deeply! just, they’re gay.

jonin commander + council member + nara mind means that shikaku’s a close hand to the third hokage, undoubtedly has some contact/input with anbu. i think he and kks just kinda stumbled into each other. kks is wickedly intelligent in his own way and also a little shit and i think shikaku was just kind of intrigued.

(especially based on his canon interactions with his wife and shikamaru’s commentary on it. powerful ppl with attitude simply seems to do it for him)

The door creaks, and Shikamaru is already lightheaded from sitting up so suddenly, but the tension makes his heart pound, makes him freeze as the door slowly swings open to reveal—

Kakashi steps into the hallway, rubbing at his eyes, and Shikamaru processes his appearance in a second. Wishes he hadn’t.

Kakashi’s hair is even more unkempt than usual, sticking out in odd puffs and angles. He’s not wearing his hitai-ate, in fact he’s not wearing his uniform at all, what he is wearing, Shikamaru realizes with a previously unprecedented level of horror, is one of his father’s shirts. 

He knows it, because his father is the only man under sixty in the village to own a ‘I’d rather be playing Shogi’ shirt.

Shikamaru blinked, watched as Kakashi stepped back into his father’s room, shut the door, and emerged half a minute later with his mask and a pair of sweatpants on. He is still unkempt, but decent now.

Am I the only one who got the same kind of vibes from episode 230 of Boruto as I got from the aftermath of Shikamaru’s first mission as a team leader?

This reminds me of the scene where Shikaku leans against the hospital wall and Shikamaru walks past him. Shikadai’s a grandpa’s boy without even realizing it!

And Kawaki having a chat with his father about doing better in the future.

Shikaku, Yoshino, Karura, and Yashamaru deserve more love :( I wish there was more content for them fr. I want to post more of the sand fam but it’s hard to find anything related to the grandparents (Also grandpa Rasa content too)

I’ve actually seen a bit more of them lately, one being grandpa Shikaku and I LOVE IT.
