A Stark Is Born *Prequel to That’s Stark’s Boy*

Summary: Peter listens to the story about how your parents met and the story of why you stopped contact with Tony.

Grace Hart is an up and coming Agent to the FBI, although mostly on desk duty due to not following instructions, she’s on a mission to protect the most sort after man. Tony Stark, recently taking over his dad’s company, Stark makes it difficult for Grace to keep him safe. A story about how true love, but how loving each other is easier when they aren’t together.

Pairings: Tony Stark x Grace Hart (Miss Congeniality OC!) & Peter Parker x Male!Reader & Tony Stark x Pepper Potts

Warnings: Swear words, violence and drinking. It’s Angst, but fluff too. Sex is mentioned, obviously. But I’m not writing smut for this.

Word Count: 2236

Authors Note: Sandra Bullock is in no way how YOU should picture the mom. She’s simply an OC I created, the mom is a mixture of a bunch of Sandra Bullock characters, and I’m using the actress as INSPIRATION. You do NOT have to picture her as Sandy B, but she is an OC and therefore I will be using the name Grace for her, you’re free to place another name for the mother. It’s the same with all my fics, I leave it open to interpretation. I only use gifs as inspo and decoration, they’re not meant to depict how the reader/ the mother should look like.

Chapter One/ Six

“Agent Hart,” Jack Traven voice calls through the office, “Chief wants you.”

He pats the young female’s shoulder as he passes, giving her a sympathetic smile as he sits at his own desk. Grace heaves a sigh, pushing herself up from her own desk and pursing her lips as she walks towards the chief’s office. This wasn’t the first time she’d been called, nor would it be the last either. She had a thing for not following the rule book, sometimes tossing it out and struggled to follow orders; it’s why she’s never led a case.

She knocks a few times, hearing the faint gruff of her superior’s voice to come in. A few seconds of pep-talk before she opens the door, she’s met with a few faces, only one that she recognises- and that’s her boss.

“You wanted to see me, sir?” Grace asked and stood with her hands clasped behind her back, hair pulled back into a low ponytail but she still managed to miss a few pieces that framed her face.

“I know I’ve put you on desk duty because of your last… instruction issue,” McDonald explains, “but I have an assignment, a very important one. It requires one of the best and since Matthews is on holiday, you’ll be on this one.” Grace nods once, “a very important male has been receiving disturbing letters these past few months, I’ve got the Intelligence team downstairs looking them over, they seem to be getting progressively more violent.”

Grace raises an eyebrow, “So a celebrity has a stalker, how is this an FBI issue?”

“It’s a top-secret operation,” McDonald's informs Hart, who instantly perks up. “We have suspicion to believe that whoever is sending these letter is planning on killing the victim, we’ve been informed that one of his helicopters suddenly lost engine power… then exploded.”

Grace nods, “And you want me to take point on this? Find out who’s behind the letter-”

“Nope,” he shakes his head, “you’re going to be protecting the victim, that’s all you’ll do. I have a team put together to figure out who this is, we just need someone to be with them at all times. Keep them alive and safe,” McDonald nods to the two other men, Hart only now acknowledges them. “Happy Hogan and James Rhodes have requested FBI officials.”

Grace instantly deflates, babysitting duty, great. Not. No one wants to follow some suit around and make sure he’s well and truly safe, they have money to get those types of people without using government-funded officials.

“Who is it?”

“It’s Anthony Stark,” Grace already starts to shake her head. “After the unexpected death of his parents, he has reason to be jumpy. His dad had a lot of enemies too, a lot of people trying to claim the Stark Industries from under the young heir of Howard. This could be serious, he needs protection and you’re not doing anything important around here.”

“No way,” Grace scoffs and crosses her arms. “I’ve seen Stark, he’s an egotistical, playboy asshole and he has enough money to hire bodyguards.”

“Actually,” one of the men piped up, “We can’t trust anyone but the FBI. We recently found out someone we hired was in on the operation to take Stark down, we believe it’s a man that posed as Tim Robbins. This is our last resort, so to speak.”

Grace looked at her boss and sighed, “I have no say in this, do I?” he shakes his head, “when do I start?”

“He won’t accept any hired help,” Rhodes explained to Grace, who nodded as the car drove them to wherever Stark would be. “His usual help, Miss Potts-”

Grace snorted, “What is he the prince from Beauty and the Beast?” she carried on snorting loudly, laughing at her own joke till she calmed herself down.

“Okay,” James mutters, “Anyway, she’s on paid leave. Visiting some family, he needs a stand-in. A personal assistant, you’ll have access to his whole timetable and with him at all times. We’ve just gotta make sure he’ll hire you.”

“Great, so not only do I have to babysit this adult. He refuses to accept any actual help, so I’ve also got to run his errands for him as I potentially stop him from getting assassinated?” Grace asked James with a raised eyebrow.

Happy Hogan, who is head security detail for Stark and used to be his personal driver, let’s out a small chuckle from the driver's seat. He looks in the mirror, to Grace, and only nods his head with a sympathetic smile.

“Do you own any dresses?” Happy calls from the front of the car.

“No,” Grace scoffs and raises her eyebrows at them, “Why do I need a dress?”

“You’ll need to look the part, Miss Hart.” Happy tells her and then focuses back on the road ahead.

Grace groans and slouches in her seat, gnawing on her bottom lip as she hopelessly sits in the back of the SUV. Wondering why and how she got into this mess, she should’ve handed her badge and gun over, could’ve taken the offered vacation. Yet, you’re a workaholic and did this to yourself, Grace.

“Okay, you know what? Drop me off home, send me a text of Tony’s favourite coffee and his DD tomorrow,” Happy frowns, “Designated Destination.” Grace rolls her eyes slightly like he should’ve known that anyway.

Happy and James drop her off, telling her Tony’s morning schedule for tomorrow. Leaving the young woman to go into her apartment and do the only she can; tape her hands and start venting her frustration out on her punching bag.

The corny RnB song plays loudly through the stereo as she works up a sweat, the sweat drips down her face and stings her eyes. By now she expected to be top of her game, yet she’s hardly playing with the team now, always on the bench because she can’t follow simple instructions. Her parents always told her to throw out the rule book, to live a little, but it seemed that always got her in trouble.

She turned the stereo off and picked up the phone, dialling the number of the only person she knew could help her, that would listen to her and tell her what she needed to hear.

“Hi, Mr Wong, it’s Grace Hart. I need one No. 13, two No. 7’s and I need three No. 8’s, no garlic.” She pauses for a moment, “yes, for one. Always for one. Can you throw in a No. 23, thank you. See you in 15 minutes,” she slapped the phone back on the receiver and sighed heavily.

Tomorrow she’d have to start her job, well her two jobs; saving and protecting Tony Stark and being his personal assistant till he is safe.

*Next Day*

Grace ran through the crowded New York street, almost spilling and tripping up several times. The long maxi, rather flowy, skirt kept causing her to stumble and tumble into people and buildings. The shoes weren’t a big help either, the flat sandals kept skidding and slipping, yet they are fashionable- by Grace’s standards.

Grace caught sight of Tony and Happy exiting the building where Stark Industries meetings are held, both in deep conversation and surrounded by a few journalists. Grace waved frantically to Happy, who raised his eyebrows at the poorly dressed woman, chuckling when she starts to yell at a cab that almost hit her.

“Mr Stark,” Grace pushes past Happy and stumbles up to the billionaire, handing him his coffee and shoving some papers into the other hand. “I’m Grace Hart, a pleasure to meet you. Miss Potts told me your schedule and what coffee you like,” she steps quickly to keep up with his fast pace.

Watching as he takes a small sip and nodding in appreciation, he glances over the papers in his hands. Her resume that she bullshitted early hours of the morning and frantically printed at the library, a cover letter that wrote up that had a forged signature of a George Wade- who she has never met and hopes Tony doesn't know.

Despite the headband pushing her hair back, it still manages to get into her face as she follows both men. “She recommended me, hoped you’d take me on whilst she’s away. I’ve looked over your schedule and I’m willing to work, to start right now.”

Tony stops at the car, pulling the glasses that cover his face off and eyeing her up and down. Grace frowns for a moment before he shrugs at Happy, stepping into the car, Happy nods for her to follow and she quickly dives in with a heaved sigh.

It’s silent, so Grace quickly fills it. “I live on the lower east side, so it’ll take me a while to get to your place in the morning. That’s if… I’ve got the job?”

Tony smiles, “Yes, you have the job. But I want something else from you.”

Grace chortles incredulously, “Oh, no. I am fully aware of your reputation and there’s no way you’re getting… that. No.”

Tony raises an eyebrow, not looking offended but rather amused, “Getting what?”

“You know what.” Grace concludes, muttering, “Sex,” Tony only chuckles, “there’s no way you’re getting that. I don’t care what past PA’s have done for the job, I will not.”

“Well, that would be nice. But what I really need is for someone to attend my meeting on Wednesday, I’ve got a party at the Playboy mansion, won’t be able to attend.”

Grace just nods and sighs, already knowing this is going to be difficult. The car is mostly silent, Tony on his phone and talking occasionally to Happy about something random.

The house they pull up to is… breathtaking. Clearly costs more than anything Grace will ever own, it’s beautiful and modern, clearly a mansion too. It must have around six bedrooms, at least. How can one man need all this space?

“You live here?” Grace asked and Tony nods, “alone?”

Tony chuckles, “I’m hardly ever alone, Pepper usually stays with me and I’m hardly single, I mean, you know my reputation.”

“Don’t you ever feel lonely in a place like this?” Grace asked and looked at Tony, his eyebrows are knitted together and he’s looking at her for a long moment before turning back to Happy, telling him to park the car in the garage around back.

Grace follows Tony up the drive, where he types in a code to enter the luxurious house. The lights all come on, the sound of a brewing coffee pot could be heard distantly, Grace raises an eyebrow at everything. Then from nowhere a distinct British accent is heard… from above?

“Welcome back, Mr Stark.”

“Who said that?” Grace asked looking around for the source of the voice, yet coming up empty.

Tony shrugs off his jacket and passes it to Grace, pointing to a closet near her, “That’s JARVIS, he used to be just an interface computer system, but I’m upgrading him to an Artificial Intelligence. It’s going rather well,” Tony smiles and Grace can only nod her head, “JARVIS, this is Grace Hart, she’s taking over Miss Potts duties for a few weeks. Get her prints for the doors and add her to the security logs.”

“Right away, Sir.”

Grace remains by the door, utterly floored by the technology in this house. Tony is making an AI? She knew he was a genius, like his father before him, but she didn’t know that he just makes AI’s in his spare time. Isn’t he meant to be running some kind of business? Oh, right. No, you are Grace, you’re attending the meeting for him on Wednesday.

It wasn’t till past eleven at night that Grace finally returned home. She had to go over Pepper’s timetable, all involving picking up his dry-cleaning, answering his own emails and arranging all of his meals- alongside his own head chef. She also had to consult with JARVIS, an Artificial Intelligence, talking to something with no face was… weird.

“Sir,” Grace sighed as she finally got through to her boss, “I really don’t think I can do this job.”

“Agent Hart, it’s just a security detail.”

Grace scoffs, “I wish. It’s not just a security detail, Mr Stark doesn’t want to be looked after. No, I have to pretend to be a personal assistant just to keep him safe,” she paced outside of her apartment building. “I have do everything, it’s like looking after a child. It’s been one day and I can’t do it. He has a frigging robot as a friend, Sir.”

“Hart, you can and will do this job. No matter what you keep Stark alive and safe, got it?” It sounded more of a command than a question.

“Sir, I think this individual might actually be mentally unstable,” Grace affirms but knows better than to argue. “Can you at least have the team look into an Obadiah Stane? He works alongside Stark, I got this… vibe from him.”

There was a moment of silence, “I’ll have them look into it. But Stane is one of the people that was also concerned for Stark’s safety. I’ll update you in a few days of the progress.”

Grace let out a long groan before ending the call before entering her apartment. It’s only for a few days, it can’t be that hard to look after and keep him safe. It’s not like he’s constantly putting himself in danger.

So as mentioned in my previous post about this bingo, my birthday is next month. And for that occasion I wanted to host another bingo! Like my last bingo in October 2021, this one will have moodboards to the squares. You don’t have to use them, but they’re there for inspiration, and can also be used in your fics as a “cover” if you’d like 🥰 I’m gonna have the moodboards up before the bingo starts on Monday 17th of January 😅

Came across this on Tumblr a few days ago, it amused me for a couple of hours or more, filling it in, while watching QI.

Fandom Questions

1. What was the first fandom you got involved in?

Star Trek: Voyager, I suppose at least for reading. Started writing with Stargate SG-1.

2. What is your latest fandom?

I dip in and out of lots of fandoms on and off, the most recent ‘pick up’ is Ballam from Eastenders, I don’t watch soaps, but Robron and Ballam both appear a good bit on my tumblr, so I eventually gave in to checking them out via fic and youtube – thank god for youtube, lol! I still don’t watch soaps, but I watch those storylines!

3. What is the best fandom you’ve ever been involved in?

Gosh, that’s... actually no that’s really easy. Primeval. For anyone not familiar, it’s a ‘silly little dinosaur show’ produced in the UK. It had 4 short seasons, with a somewhat revolving main cast – although they managed to keep 3 of them through all 4 seasons – but the fandom was/is amazing. I made life long friends through the fandom and even though I don’t write much any more I still read some and still talk with those people.

4. Do you regret getting involved in any fandoms?

I would say no. I can’t say every fandom has always been amazing – ship wars anyone! – but mostly fandom has been a very positive experience in my life.

5. Which fandoms have your written fanfiction for?

Here we go again... lol!

Stargate SG-1: Jack/Sam, I just... no. I’ve read a few where it’s a background or secondary pairing, but it always makes me wince a bit. I’ve read a few with Sam/Daniel as a secondary pairing that didn’t make me react that way and I’ve read Sam with other characters, but Jack/Sam just is a nope for me.

Stargate Atlantis: McKay/Keller – no, just no. that was horrible. She treated him like... awfully, trying to change him to suit her, just... no.

Marvel: Contentious, but Tony/Pepper, also Peter Parker/Tony Stark. Maybe because I saw the movies before I ever looked at the comics, but meh.

Due South: Benton Fraser/Ray V – again, contentious, but honestly I think Ray V was kind of a shit friend to Fraser.

Firefly: Anything with Jayne. No really, I just can not stand the character. I spent most of the series wanting to punch him in the face and sometimes you get characters you love to hate, but I just hated him.

Buffy/Angel Verse: Buffy/Spike, Willow/Kennedy

Harry Potter: Ron/Hermione, Ron/Harry, Harry/Ginny... basically, Ron and Ginny should just be loveless hermits who live by themselves. Ok, no, that isn’t fair... but as much as Ron was Harry’s first friend, he was selfish and bitter and Ginny/Harry just... never sat right with me. Ron literally says she spent ‘all summer talking about’ Harry, when she’d met him for all of three seconds. She didn’t know him. It always felt like she fell more in love with the *idea* of Harry Potter, than Harry Potter himself.

Sherlock: Sherlock/Molly, he’d eat her for breakfast. Serious, she’d never survive him.

Primeval: Oliver Leek and anyway. Arg. Creepy little dude is creepy and evil.

NCIS: Ziva/DiNozzo – ugh, just no.

8. How did you get involved in your latest fandom?

Tumblr, god damned bitches posting gifs of pretty boys falling in love, roped me in!

9. What are the best things about your current fandom?

I dabble in several fandoms at once... but if we go by ‘most recently picked up’ as ‘current’ we’re talking Ballum, which hey, it’s always fun to have an actual canon pairing be my OTP, that’s rare for me, lol.

10. Is there a fandom you read fic from but don’t write in?

Well (so far) I haven’t written any Ballum. (I say so far, because I’m a realist, lol). I rarely read in fandoms and not end up writing in them at some point. Although I have probably dabbled in a few I’ve not written for, but if I read it with any sort of consistency, I mostly end up writing it. I am weak!

11. Who is your current OTP?

Okay, so that list above, just basically go with that. While I do drop in and hour of fandoms and some I certainly read in more than others, I do tend to go back to fandoms... If we were talking about what I’m mostly focused on writing atm... Steve/Tony, Mycroft/Lestrade, Harry/Draco and Robron are ones I’m currently working on most.

12. Who is your current OT3?

I’m not currently writing anything that’s OT3 with any real focus. I have a couple of Neal/Peter/Elizabeth WiPs that I will at some point finish, but they aren’t a big focus just now. I did recently read a fabulous Neal/Peter/Elizabeth fic that’s been on my tbr list for ages.

13. Any NoTPs?

Just... see above, lol!

14. Go on, who are your BroTPs?

Harry Hart/Merlin, those two are Bro’s until the end and I will fight you on this. Also, Eggsy/Roxy! OMG they are such a BroTP! And Tony/Pepper/Rhodey – I may no like Tony/Pepper as a pairing, but I love them as best friends and of course, our Rhodes, because again, I will fight you on this, they are awesome and Tony needs his best friends!

15. Is there an obscure ship which you love?

I’m not sure there is. I suppose I’ve read a few fics for some random pairings over the years, but nothing that’s made me really ship-ship them. I like Clint Barton/Bucky Barnes, after seeing it as a secondary pairing in a Steve/Tony fic, but I’ve seen that pop up a few times since, so maybe it won’t stay obscure for long!

16. Are their any popular ships in your fandom which you dislike?

Jack/Sam, Tony/Pepper, Ron/Hermione, Harry/Ginny, Buffy/Spike – they all seem to be het pairings, oops. But I am mostly a slash fic reader/writer, so I suppose that’s not too surprising.

17. Who was your first OTP and are they still your favourite?

Jack/Daniel from Stargate SG-1. I still love them. I still read them, although it has been a while since I’ve written them on their own (I have got some SG-1/SGA x-overs where they feature)

18. What ship have you written the most about?

I’m genuinely not sure... without going and counting (and I’m not going any counting!) I’d guess Jack/Daniel, McKay/Sheppard, Jack/Ianto and Steve/Danno.

19. Is there a ship which you wished you could get behind, but you just don’t feel them?

No, not that I can think off. I either like it or not. I do occasionally feel bad for not reading a fic if it’s an author I really like, but I don’t read that fandom or pairing, but nothing specific.

20. Any ships which you surprised yourself by liking?

Robron and Ballum, lol. I do not do soaps!

21. What was the first fanfic you ever wrote?

Stargate SG-1, Jack/Daniel, a story called The Dare, The Disaster, The Almost Happy Ending, And The Very Happy Ending – it was awful. Don’t go looking, lol!

22. Is there anything you regret writing?

Don’t we all? No, I wouldn’t specifically say so. There are certainly fics, especially older ones, I wish I could have written better, but nothing I’d go, ugh I should never have done that.

23. Name a fic you’ve written that you’re especially fond of & explain why you like it.

Uh... honestly that’s really hard. I... um... yeah, I don’t know, really. I wrote a nice little flower one in POI that I felt worked rather beautifully. The Language of Flowers. An I wrote an SGA fic for NaNo a few years ago, called A Different Life, but it’s not online, because I didn’t finish it yet and I knew I wasn’t going to finish it any time soon, so I didn’t feel it was fair to leave it up unfinished (there is a reason I don’t read WiP fics and I don’t post them either, because I know how much I hate unfinished WiPs) Edit: After writing this I reminded myself of a POI fic I wrote called Hours of Separation – It’s a Harold/John break up story that I always intended to write a sequel too where I ‘fixed’ them, but I just couldn’t do it. I broke them a little too well. But I really love it actually.

24. What fic do you desperately need to rewrite or edit?

The afore mentioned A Different Life needs to be edited and finished, lol! Also a Primeval fic with the working title Crypt Keeper (don’t ask) that I worked myself into a bit of a corner on and I figure out how to fix it, but I haven’t done it yet, so it’s still needs fixing and finishing, lol!

25. What’s your most popular fanfic?

I haven’t the foggiest.

26. How do you come up with your fanfic titles?

Sometimes, really easily, a quote, a line from the fic, a song title... other times it’s like pulling teeth, hence working titles on things like ‘crypt keeper’ which is a reference to one scene near the very start and has no actual hint of the plot, lol!

27. What do you hate more: Coming up with titles or writing summaries?

Oh the titles. Summaries you can just copy a few lines from the fic if you are desperate, if you had to post ‘untitled mcshep fic #67’ people would get cranky, lol, hell I’d get cranky!

28. If someone were to draw a piece of fanart for your story, which story would it be and what would the picture be of?

Oh... I... huh. I mean who wouldn’t love fanart for their stories? Any of them honestly! But if I had to choose just one... I guess something in my Animal Instinct verse, which is Primeval (although I always intended to write other fandoms in the verse) where some people transform into animals, based on their ‘spirit animal’ and some art of the characters with their spirit animal form would be awesome.

29. Do you have a beta reader? Why/Why not?

Sometimes, look if you’ve read this far, you know I write in a lot of fandoms, lol. In some fandoms it’s easier than others to find beta readers. Also, sometimes if it’s just something short, I won’t bother. But I do try for my longer fics.

30. What inspires you to write?

That old adage, if you want to read it, sometimes you just have to write it? Spite? Boredom? Honestly sometimes I just have ideas I have to get out of my brain and it’s write or go mad(der)

31. What’s the nicest thing someone has ever said about your writing?

That it inspired them to write something.

32. Do you listen to music when you write or does music inspire you? If so, which band or genre of music does it for you?

Sometimes, sometimes I find it distracting when writing because I end up singing along and forgetting what I’m writing, lol! I do sometimes get inspiration from songs, I guess mostly from the lyrics, but no particular band or genre – although I listen to a lot of country music!

33. Do you write oneshots, multi-chapter fics or huuuuuge epics?

Little from column a, little from column b... littler still from column c...

34. What’s the word count on your longest fic?

Around 60k, I think.

35. Do you write drabbles? If so, what do you normally write them about?

I have. Primeval had/has a week drabble challenge, mostly when I’ve written drabbles it’s been for a challenge, with a specific prompt.

36. What’s your favourite genre to write?

Uh... I mean, my fandoms really span the genres, but I guess sci-fi or crime are probably my favourites.

37. First person or third person - what do you write in and why?

Third mostly, I have occasionally written in first person, if it felt like the fic needed it.

38. Do you use established canon characters or do you create OCs?

Little from column a, little from column b... it depends on the fandom and the story. Sometimes you just need more characters, mostly they are minor roles, I don’t tend to write much established character/oc fic

39. What is your greatest strength as a writer?

Ability to convince myself people will want to read it, lol! No actually to be honest, I love to know people read and like my stuff, but I gave up a long time ago on trying to ‘please’ people with what I write. I write what I want to read.

40. What do you struggle the most with in your writing?

Focus. The problem with 21 years of fandom history, is well... 21 years of fandom history. A lot of fandoms, a lot of pairings and as I say, I never really ‘leave’ a fandom, I just drop in and out and sometimes that means I’ll write on something consistently for weeks or months and then end up getting distracted by another fandom again and not touch it for weeks or months again. Hence, I don’t post WiP fics, because I know I’m easily distracted and don’t want anyone to suffer my lack of focus but me.

Everyone. The thing is, fandom at it’s best is like crack, the more you get, the more you want. The writing, the gifs, the art... it feeds you and makes you want to make more of it, because more of it needs to exist and if that means you need to do it yourself, so be it!

45. What is your all time favourite fanfic?

Oh hell no, not even, I can not. It took me an hour to narrow down 5 authors, I can not narrow down one fanfic!

46. If someone was to read one of your fanfics, which fic would you recommend to them and why?

I mean, it depends on what they like... probably the Hour of Separation I mentioned above, if they like the fandom/pairing, or my Animal Instinct stuff.

47. Archive Of Our Own, Fanfiction.net or Tumblr - where do you prefer to post and why?

Archive of our Own. I haven’t touched ff.net in *years* since they started getting super restrictive about what you could post. I do occasionally post stuff to tumblr, but mostly I now post to AO3. I did have my own site and I’ve yet to upload a lot of stuff to AO3 – one of these... months... that will be a project – but it’s amazing. Seriously, having been in fandom 20+ years, going from having to search all over a million different places and now it’s all in one place, where we’re honestly, spoiled and protected. The kids now have no idea how crazy impossible that once seemed.

48. Do you leave reviews when you read fanfiction? Why/Why not?

Yes, but not as often as I should. I love AO3s kudos button, so I can sort of say ‘hey I enjoyed this’ without having to comment, because I sort of hate leaving comments just going ‘hey I enjoyed this’ because I always feel like I should say more, like, oh I enjoyed this specific thing, which yes is an unnecessary hang-up, but there ya go.

49. Do you care if people comment/reblog your writing? Why/why not?

Of course it’s nice to get comments, kudos, reblogs etc. I’m not as attached to them now as I was when I was younger, because I learned along the way that it was more important that I like what I’m writing than that other people do, but it’s still nice to know that something I’ve created is enjoyed.

50. How did you get into reading and/or writing fanfiction?

I went looking for Star Trek Voyager stuff online, pics etc, waaaaaaay back when! And I came across fanfiction entirely by accident... and I read some – het stuff mostly, then I started watching Stargate SG-1, went looking for fanfiction for that, but was not on board with Jack/Sam, found Jack/Daniel went ‘huh really? That’s weird’ read it... and yeah... 21 years later... lol!

51. Rant or Gush about one thing you love or hate in the world of fanfiction! Go!

Ship Wars. No seriously, just don’t. Like, who the actual fuck cares. I like my ship, you like your ship. I don’t care if it’s canon or not. I don’t care if it’s popular or not. I don’t read my NoTPs, but I’d never dream of telling someone else not too. Yes I think they are terrible, bad, no good pairings, but that’s *my* opinion. Don’t try to change my mind and I won’t try to change yours. I avoid them like the actual plague. If someone starts that shit around me, I will shut it right down. You are a dick. Go to Jail. In your town there is a Biker club Called Kings Rebels, you weren’t a good girl and you surely weren’t a biker girl, or were you? One night changes everything in your life. You started that night out as a hostel waitress who works in Stark Tavern, one ass grab and a sucker punch later, did you just slip the Pres of a Biker Club, Eggsy Unwin, your work hours? But is MC life for you, being an old lady? When your faith is tested for the club, they follow through with everything Eggsy promised you. Will your world stay upside down since walking into the Clubhouse, or do you fit into their lifestyle more than you ever thought possible??

“Brother!” Buck, Peter, Frank, Clint and Steve stood outside the station, holding his kutte and his keys.

“What an ugly bunch to see fresh out of jail.” Eggsy laughs as they clap him on the back, high fiving him, Peter full on hugs him.

“Thought you might want to ride home.” Peter pats the handle bars of his bike.

“You got it out of impound?” Eggsy looks surprised.

“Your girl paid for it.” Buck laughs helping him into his kutte and handing the keys over.

“Speaking of, where is my girl?” Eggsy laughs, each one of the guys looks down, away or shifts in some type of way. “What?” He blinks.

“She said she was doing something, she would meet you back at the club.” Peter sighs.

“Doing what?” He squints.

“No clue, she practically ran out of the clubhouse after forking over a grand in cash, and we haven’t heard from her since.” Buck sighs.

“Cash? Where did she,” He pauses as it clicks in his head. “she used her tip money she had saved.” He nods. “I’m going to kick her ass.” He sighs, swinging his leg over his bike, as the guys laugh.

“I don’t think that’s going to be the worst thing.” Steve laughs.

“What you going on about?” Eggsy looks at him as the bike roars to life.

“She mentioned that she might need bail money next before she ran off today.” Peter laughs.

“She’s going to be the god damn death of me.” Eggsy shakes his head.

You couldn’t make your feet move, your hands shook, your throat closed on your gasp.

“Y/N?” Markus hisses behind you, making you startle, the strangled yelp leaving your throat. “It’s me.” He wraps you in his arms pulling you into him. “What the fuck is going on?” He whispers. Your lips moved, your chest heaved for air, but nothing came out, no sound, no words. He takes your phone, shinning it at the walls, you feel him stiffen, around you. ��Holy fuck.” His voice no longer a whisper. He turns you quickly, his hands on your shoulder, your phone still in his hand. “Get out of here now.” He demands, you nod, turning you run for the window. Logan helps you out, holding you tightly to his chest as you shake with fear.

“What the fuck is going on?” He looks down at you. You shake your head, burying your face into his chest.

“Fucker.” Markus hisses, Logan pulls away, taking whatever, it was that Markus was handing him, before your brother attempted to crawl out of the window, getting stuck he jerks hard on his pant leg. A tearing sound followed by Markus hitting the ground, with a disgusting crunch sound. “Mother fucker!” Markus cries into the grass and dirt.

“Let’s go Queen Graceful.” Logan pulls him up and the three of you are running for the SUV parked the next block over. “You good to drive?” Logan asks helping a whimpering Markus in the back.

“Get in.” You nod, starting the truck. As soon as Logan’s door is shut you slam it into gear, hitting the gas, you peel out around the corner, heading for the clubhouse.

“What the fuck did you two find in that house?” Logan looks from you to Markus as he holds tight, you take another corner sharp.

“I think I fucked my shoulder up.” Markus groans.

“You sure it ain’t your head?” Logan snorts.

“We need to tell the club. Maybe the state police?” You shake your head, squeezing your eyes shut as you wait at the red light.

“First the club.” Markus pants holding his shoulder. You nod, pressing down on the gas once again.

“Babe?!” Eggsy calls walking through the clubhouse, he pauses waiting, no response. He jogs up the stairs, opening the bedroom door. Empty, the bed made, her sleep shirt folded at the end of the bed, the box she had stashed under the floor board with her tip money it out on the dresser. He sighs, turning, pulling the door closed behind him as he heads for the stairs.

“Eggsy?!” She shouts, her voice panicked. He sprints for the stairs, racing down the sound.

“Y/N?” He comes around the corner as she hits his chest, arms around his neck. He wraps his arms around her squeezing her to his chest as she shakes.

“What’s wrong babe?” He pulls back looking at wide eyes, her lips trembling.

“Call a meeting. Now.” She pleads making his heart slam into his ribs.

“What the fuck happened to you?” Eggsy looks at Markus, Logan was supporting most of his weight, Markus was cussing up a storm as they moved into the room.

“Moron busted up his shoulder.” Logan looks at his brother.

“Call Rox.” Eggsy looks at Peter who nods, pulling out his phone.

“Hot blonde?” Markus perks up suddenly.

“Chapel boys. Now.” Eggsy shakes his head at Markus, he looks to Frank who nods, starting to round up the men as Eggsy leads Y/N and her brothers to the room. Markus and Logan sit off to the side, in the two chairs against the wall. Y/N paces behind the head of the table, her arms wrapped tightly around her. Fear traced those wide eyed, under the shade of his black ball cap, she was leaving teeth marks in her bottom lip she chewed relentlessly.

“Babe?” Eggsy reaches from his chair where he sat, his fingers brushing her arm. She jumps, flinching away from him like he struck her. His hand drops mid reach falling into his lap with a thump, she blinks wide, scared eyes at him, before she thaws swallowing hard returning to chewing on her bottom lip. The sting of watching her flinch away from him was a shot to the heart, what had he done?

“She’s been like this, since the night you got arrested.” Peter whispers in his ear before taking his own seat. Fucking Charlie, his jaw clenched.

“What’s going on boss?” Steve looks around the room. “And what happened to him?” He chuckles.

“We broke into Charlie’s house tonight.” Logan nods, Markus was making a sound something between a pant and a growl, it wasn’t exactly clear. “What they found, I have no idea.” He looks to Y/N.

“You ever see the movie a Beautiful Mind?” She looks at them all with wide eyes as they stare at her. “Or one of those shows about obsessed stalkers?” She breathes.

“What are you saying?” Buck leans forward, anger etched into his face already.

“Charlie isn’t just the costumer that tips well and flirts with me.” She swallows, she shivered. “He’s obsessed with me. He’s been stalking me.” He watches her, jaw clenched, his fingers digging into the arms of the chair.

A Stark Is Born *Prequel to That’s Stark’s Boy*

Summary: Peter listens to the story about how your parents met and the story of why you stopped contact with Tony.

Pairings: Tony Stark x Grace Hart (Miss Congeniality OC!) & Peter Parker x Male!Reader & Tony Stark x Pepper Potts

Warnings: Swear words, violence and drinking. It’s Angst, but fluff too. Sex is mentioned, obviously. But I’m not writing smut for this.

Chapter Two/ Six

Grace knew this job would be difficult having to take orders from a billionaire, especially when she could be out actually trying to get the guy, instead, she got babysitting duty. By all means, it should be easier but it isn’t. It’s like Tony wants to be killed or something, he’s always attending parties late and bringing home strangers (mostly women). If Tony gets killed whilst she’s on the job, she’ll get fired, Grace knows that because it’s her duty to protect this man.

The schedule given to her is hardly his actual day, he spends most of it down in his work-lab, that she isn't allowed in or he goes out- requesting she does all the work Pepper usually does. It’s like looking after a child, a child that thinks he’s in charge and can do as he pleases, but yet has responsibilities that he refuses to acknowledge. All it took was two days, two days for Grace to flip.

“Get up.” Grace sternly tells the sleeping Stark, he groans as she commands Jarvis to open his black-out blinds, “you’re not having me attend YOUR meetings for you, you have to go to them and I’ll come along with you.”

Tony sits up and rubs his eyes, scowling at the woman before him. Dressed in a lilac blazer, matching pencil skirt and arms crossed. The look reminded Tony one of which his mother used to wear, it made a chill shoot up his spine. A small part of him didn’t believe she was a simple PA, from her steely glare and her eyes always scanning her surroundings. It’s like she was looking for some form of trouble, always on guard and, usually, PA’s don’t have a ‘fuck off’ attitude. They’re meant to be welcoming and always happy to help and do, yet Grace is different.

Tony thought better to argue with the woman, deciding to get out of bed and dressed. Grace averted her eyes away as he searched for clothes, throwing on some band tee and jeans. Running his fingers through his hair quickly, turning to Grace with a smirk.

“You’re attending a meeting for a multi-million dollar business,” Grace began, “and you’re attending in a band-tee?” Grace sighed when Tony only shrugged, grabbing a dark navy blazer and throwing that on over it. “well, hurry up and find some shoes, we’re going to be late.”

Grace walks out of Tony’s bedroom and releases a long sigh, she isn’t scared of him but telling a billionaire what to do or even being stern with him… felt slightly terrifying. She didn’t want to push her luck and have him fire her, then how is she meant to protect him? 24hr surveillance outside his house? She’s done that before and it killed her back having to sleep in the back of a car.

Tony exits his room, with a grumpy frown, she would’ve told him to have a shower but they didn’t have enough time, but he still reeked of whatever alcohol he was inducing the night before. The smell of sweat, booze and perfume lingered on his skin, it was a little hard to breathe around him. Grace pulled out a pocket-sized perfume spray, spritzing it on him as they walked to the car.

“Will you stop that?” Tony harshly slapped her hand away making her almost drop the perfume.

“Well if you were a responsible human I wouldn’t be having to spray you just to make you smell, somewhat, lovely.” Grace snaps back, “thank you, Happy.” She kindly smiles at the man she had gotten a little closer with.

Turns out, Tony would rather drive himself places - when he’s sober, at least- Happy often drives behind Tony being his security detail, they have a close relationship, almost sibling-like. Happy is the only person Grace has come across that has anything nice to say about Stark, apart from the obvious brown-nosers, the people that want something from Tony, Happy seems to really know him and still attests to the fact Tony is a good man.

The drive is long and silent, “So… what is this meeting about?” Grace asked, eyeing Tony from the side and toying with her hands in her lap.

“Just Stark Industries stuff, future of the company and so forth, you know, we’re making weapons for the government so it’s best to keep on top of legal stuff,” Tony explained and Grace nodded along. “I’m CEO it’s good for me to attend these things, I prefer the little events we do, the testers and reveals of the latest weapons.”

Grace chuckled slightly, “CEO, really?” Tony only nodded his head, “but you’re only thirty.”

He simply shrugs, “Please, don’t remind me.” Grace held her hands up in defence, “That’s what happens when you inherit a company, I was only twenty when my parents died. I wasn’t old enough to run the company, so Obadiah Stane was CEO till I turned twenty-one. He’s been friends of my family for years, he mostly attends the meetings and does all this boring stuff.”

“Must’ve been difficult for him to hand over the company back to you,” Tony frowned and looked at Grace, who only shrugged, “I’m just saying being CEO of a company, only for some twenty-one-year-old know-it-all take over. Think I’d go insane,” Grace joked and snorted loudly before calming down.

They both walked inside the Stark Industries building, Tony nodding ‘hello’ at a few employees. Grace hung a little behind, feeling a tad out of place. A big part of her praying that she’ll get a phone call saying they caught the guy, that she can stop and go back to her normal desk and be an Agent again.

“Tony?” A deep voice carries across the building, “I didn’t expect for you to turn up.”

Tony shakes the taller man’s hand, a smile on both of their faces. “Yeah, well my temporary personal assistant insisted I attended today.”

Grace gives a little wave, Stane only nods in her direction before putting an arm around Tony’s shoulders and walking him towards the meeting room. In a deep conversation about the company and other things that Grace doesn’t care about, her eyes scan the room of the faces. Anyone of these people could be working for whoever wants to take Stark down, she’d have to remember to get the team to look into every Stark employee.

It’d be quicker to ask JARVIS but she didn’t want to raise alarm bells to Tony, despite the technology being at her fingertips, she had to be smart about this. Listen to instruction and just keep Tony safe, no searching or prying for the person; priority is Anthony Stark.

“Oh, she can wait out here. Usually, you don’t attend, since you’re here, no one has to take notes.” Stane smiles and leads Tony into the room, shutting it on Grace’s face.

She scowled at the door for a moment before turning and sitting on a chair, crossing her legs and huffing loudly. She pulled the skirt down a little, grumbling under her breath. She’s used to pant-suits, not skirts and dresses- thankfully, she hasn’t had to wear a dress, yet. Whoever Miss Potts is, she’s a saint, that’s for sure. Having to deal with Tony all day, every day: it’s hard work. Honestly, she couldn’t wait to go back and just do desk duty again.

“How are you holding up?” Happy’s voice breaks her out of her mind, she sighs heavily and crosses her arms causing Happy to chuckle. “It’s not so bad working for him, you’ll get used to it.”

Grace scoffs, “I hope I never have to, I just can’t wait to go back to being an Agent again.” Graces eyes scan over everyone again, “have you done background checks on everyone that works here?” Happy nods, “do you have any ideas on who could be doing this?”

Happy shakes his head, “The list of enemies for a Stark is… long, believe it or not. Being a billionaire kinds puts a bullseye on your back.”

“What about that Stane guy?” Happy scoffs loudly, leaning against the wall with his arms crossed. “I get a weird vibe from him, especially since he used to be CEO then Tony took over. Imagine putting your life's work into something, only for the bosses son to get all the glory. Plus in the short while, Tony has been CEO here, he’s really made this place flourish. That type of-”

Happy shakes his head, “It’s not Stane. He’s been friends with Howard for years, he’s really helped Tony steer this company and lead him. He’s the last person that would want Tony dead.”

Grace could only nod at what Happy said, yet a gut feeling told her to look into the man. She couldn’t rule anyone out till she checked herself, even though technically it isn’t her job to do so, part of looking out for Tony was making sure the people he had close were safe. Despite not wanting this job, she’s going to take it seriously and that means going all in.

It was half an hour later that Tony finally exited the meeting, a group of men all in suits all following behind. Laughing at some joke that must’ve been told, Grace instantly stands and begins to follow the crowd of men. The loud chatter of business and pleasure being apparent, Grace rolled her eyes and followed silently.

“It was nice to see your face in a meeting for once,” Stane chuckled as Tony walked up the car, “I have your assistant here to thank.” He extends a hand to Grace, she smiles tightly and shakes his hand, almost instantly letting go when she could. “Look after this guy, he’s a little wild but don’t let him push you around.”

Grace nodded, “I’ll be sure to.”

They all get into the car in silence, Happy driving Tony home in silence. Grace sits staring out of the window, her mind preoccupied with a million thoughts.

“Hey, Happy, can you drop me off at the Burger King coming up?” He gives a little nod, “I’m gonna need a burger and fries to make it through today.” She mutters mostly to her self, ignoring Tony who is staring at her.

Tony can survive an hour without her, he’s going home with Happy, who she trusts will, and has been, looking after him. The car pulls into the carpark and Grace gets out, smiling when she sees it’s hardly packed inside. Before she can walk she hears two more car doors open, Tony stepping out along with Happy. Tony doesn’t say anything only starts walking towards the food place, Grace quickly catches up and Happy follows behind.

“I haven’t been to one of these since college,” Tony muses and Grace raises an eyebrow. She mostly gets take-out or some form of fast food; late nights at work often meant easy food. Tony steps up, the server looking a tad shocked over Stark ordering food, “What do you want Happy?”

Happy squints as he looks at the menu but instantly says, “I’ll have a Whopper meal, extra large and a diet coke.”

Tony nods, “I imagine that’s a good choice, I’ll have the same.” He then turns his attention to Grace, who just shrugs and gets the same. The server passes three large cups, Tony grabs one of the cups and walks over to the machine and places it under the diet coke one.

“Wow,” Grace amuses, “surprised you remembered how one of these works.”

“You know, contrary to popular belief, I am not that far removed from society.” Tony grabs a straw and begins to sip, watching as Grace adds ice cubes to her own drink.

Grace gave a disgruntled look, “No. But you only attended a private boarding school in Europe, where they have ‘house mothers’, not that far removed at all.”

Tony raised an eyebrow, “So, you’ve read up on me. I can’t help the fact my dad wanted me gone for the duration of the year.”

Grace was about to apologise but Happy came over with two trays of food, a big smile on his face. Leading the two of them to a nearby booth, where they sat and started to tear into their food. It’s silent as they eat, a few people taking photos of Tony in Burger King, probably, a little shook up over the fact he’s even dining here.

“So, Grace tell me about yourself,” Tony speaks up and looks at her with raised eyebrows, curiosity in his eyes that she hadn’t seen before.

Grace glances at Happy for a second, “Well, I grew up a tough neighbourhood. I have two older brothers, I don’t see much of them because working - it’s difficult to find off time, you know? My parents divorced when I was seventeen, I haven’t seen my dad since and my mum died when I was nineteen.”

Tony nods slowly, biting into a fry, “What do you do in your spare time?”

Grace chuckles and raises an eyebrow at Tony, who simply smiles and shrugs. “I do nothing, I have no hobbies or interests. Seriously, I’m a workaholic and I don’t have any friends outside of work because it’s hard to keep them when you have no time for anyone.” It falls silent again, “what about you? You must have more friends than just Happy and Pepper.”

“James Rhodes met him back in college and we have this brotherly-rivalry that has lasted up to now,” Tony smiles and Grace nods, “good guy, you’d like him actually. He’s very… responsible and always tries to make me take life seriously.”

Grace frowns, “You should take life a little more seriously, Tony.” He only rolls his eyes in response, “You work and social life, you should take that stuff seriously. It’s gonna come to a point where you’re not gonna know what’s going on in your business, and you’re CEO.”

It goes back to being silent again, only it’s mutual silence that is sometimes broken by Happy commenting on something. You finish the meal and head back to Tony’s where he goes straight to his workshop, Grace wouldn’t see him for a couple hours now. Deciding to get to work on “emails”, mostly any intel they found on Stane.

**Two days later**

Five days of looking after Stark and it was surprisingly getting easier. Although he still went out and partied a lot, it was much easier to figure out his whereabouts with the tracker she placed in all his shoes. Every move he made, she knew about it.

“What do you mean there’s nothing?” Grace snapped down the line to Matthews, who had left his vacation early to be in on the mission. “His assailant is still out there and I’m just one person, Matthews. If anything happens to him…”

Matthews chuckles down the line, “Sounds like you care about this guy.” Grace sighed, rolling her dark eyes, “Do you know if he’s been sent any more threats?” Grace sighs a ‘no’ down the phone, “seems they’ve gone silent, probably, planning their next move since the helicopter stunt didn’t work. Keep your eye out, Grace. You’re not the only one looking out for him, by the way. Colonel Rhodes made us put more men on security detail, they follow his every move too.”

Grace let out a sigh of relief, “Good. Just… keep me updated on everything, got it?”

“You bet, don’t get him killed, Hart.” The call ends and Grace sighs heavily.

“Who was that?” Grace jumps and swiftly turns to face Tony, “on the phone? Who was that? You looked pissed off.”

“Just a friend, he’s having trouble at work, like I could help him or something.” Grace snorts with her laugh, high-fiving herself for thinking fast for that lie.

Tony only nods and chuckles, “Okay. Well, tomorrow you’ll be meeting me and Happy for shopping, I’ve got this Gala thing and I have to attend. I need help on suits, you good at that type of stuff?”

Grace raised her eyebrows at Tony, he never normally asks for her opinion… on anything. Maybe these past couples of days, spending most of the day together has meant she’s earnt his trust and approval. He’d normally leave her and have Happy go with him, Happy promising her to keep her updated on everything that’s happening.

“Uh-sure, I know a bit.” Tony nodded with a half smile, before walking back inside his house.
