AND ANOTHER THING: i personally subscribe to the "curly is australian" school of thought. reasons:

look at him. no way is he english. he's blond and built. that dude surfs. he eats at hungry jack's. drop bears and enormous spiders and cassowaries ain't shit to him. he says "no worries" with the same frequency that old telegrams say "STOP." but seriously, it (sort of) keeps the british slang he uses intact without sacrificing the general vibes of the character. plus it means i get to do my atrocious aussie accent when reading his lines

it's funny to imagine him casually calling things and people cunts, and funnier still to imagine him having to bite his tongue to stop himself from calling things and people cunts while around his coworkers (it upsets anya, it gives daisuke a bad impression of pony express conduct standards, jimmy thinks it's funny for all the wrong reasons, swansea keeps barking at him to watch his fuckin language)

i was talking to my husband and told him about the Great British Curly Reveal, and with no prompting at all he immediately remarked "y'know i always thought of him as australian for some reason." that's radar love, babey, and two radar lovers just can't be wrong

Donate to the ACS Palestinian Scholarships Fund

Hi Tumblr friends, it is my birthday! For my birthday I would like it if people could donate to an institution that is near and dear to my heart, the American Community School of Beirut, Lebanon, in order to support Palestinian refugee youth.

My mother attended ACS Beirut when she was a teenager, and I grew up with the alumni association being a big part of my life. Mom's stories were very important to me, and they're actually how I learned so much about the Middle East, and specifically about the Israel-Palestine conflict. She lived through the Hundred Day's War and has many harrowing stories from that time.

It turns out ACS has a fund specifically for scholarships for Palestinian refugees, which can be found here:

Making sure that Palestinian youth who have managed to flee Israel can get access to an excellent education is crucial during this horrible time.

If you have a few dollars to spend, I would greatly appreciate it if you could throw money at this. While many people in Lebanon are doing their best to support their neighbors in Palestine, the Lebanese economy is in crisis and that makes it VERY difficult for them to provide material support to refugees. This is one avenue by which I know the money will go to helping Palestinian youth.

I FINALLY AM GETTING A NEW IPAD! It'll be delivered tomorrow ;_;

I'm going from a 10inch screen iPad Air with 64 gigs of storage to a 12.9 inch iPad Pro with a terabyte of storage I'm so damn excited!

This means my art will hopefully go a little faster since I'll have more layers to work with and won't have to debate which layers to flatten before I want to lol. It'll also help with commissions because right now on my little iPad, an 8x10 canvas only gets me 10 layers which is REALLY HARD to work with ;_; and I've made it work but I'd like that to be a little easier for me lol.

I'm also going to explore more animation work! Because I'll have so much storage and it'll have more ram to it, I'll be able to actually download a nice animation program.

I'm currently trying to work on an art portfolio which is why I've been so quiet lately lol.

Ugh - I've wanted this since August so I'm happy I finally have enough money lol.

Thank y'all who have bought the coloring books and who have commissioned me! I'll be making more coloring books [the next one probably coming out in June] and I will be opening commissions soon as well! <3

And of course, I already plan on my first drawing on this new iPad to be of Dean and Cas! xD

Trying to find one of those salacious, period-typical sex position guides from the 1920s because I don't know what the straight sexual imaginary was doing beyond the basic missionary/doggy/cowgirl trinity. I have, naturally, a sex manual for young adult women from interwar Poland, but it's more a Facts of Life guide than a latter-day kama sutra, ya dig. Want to write a couple of scenes for this fic but realized I have no idea how straight people fuck, let alone how they fucked in a much more conservative and convention-bound past, but a past that was in some ways more "liberated" by virtue (or vice) of its relative innocence, that is to say, ignorance. Some things were so new they were just novel, they hadn't been socially codified as Good or Bad yet, or they simply weren't mentioned in polite society, so there was no basis for comparison. Idk why Downton Abbey made my brain fixate on "how people fucked in the past" but I'm interested, as I said, like, epistemically and phenomenologically, if that makes sense

Been thinking about this for a while now that, what if the new world operates on a different system than the old world? New world = new rules kinda thing. Especially with the US and Haiti being the trailblazers of the the whole damn thing.

Also, what if the new world decided as a whole to not listen to their leaders? The old world seems pretty bound by the will of their rulers, which yeah, I can see that. But the nations that built themselves with the foundations of rebellion and demand to decide things for themselves? Mmmmm can’t see them listening to anyone lol.

Also I just think it’d be hilarious if America and Haiti were besties. One nation that has so much power that no one can really control him + one nation that no one really cares about so no one can really control them. Plus, the mental image of old world nations getting pissed at new world nations for pretty much nothing is too good for me not to get behind.

I agree that in this reality of Hetalia the "New World" would probably be quite different from the Old World. But IMO I think all the nations have never been keen to listen to their human leaders. When it comes to these nation personas I've always liked to think that instead of 1 to 1 representations of their countries, their more a representation of that countries' people. Like using Alfred as an example I don't think he's ever been a tool of the US government and instead just chooses to work hand and hand with the gov't for the sake of his people. Like in World War 2, for example, I think Alfred would have wanted to join the fight much earlier than when the U.S. government decided to join the war effort (post Pearl Harbor).

I agree tho that I think Alfred would be a big fan/friends with newer nations born out of revolution like the United States....but on the other hand I assume Alfred isn't the most popular as I'm sure a lot of people and nation's disagree with the United States pseudo-imperialism, etc, and Alfred just gets roped into it even if he disagrees with his own nation's policies.
