Rand and Loial have the best meetcute (platonic). Robert Jordan really said, look, I'm going to torture this poor farm boy, so let me give him a giant living teddy bear as a consolation prize. Talking to Loial is the first time that Rand feels safe in weeks. He lets his paranoia weaken and allows himself to talk freely with the giant furry transdimensional alien whose name invokes loyalty. And he is rewarded with a lifetime friend. I love them so much.
