Hello! My whumper is a demon king named castor, and my whumpee is named Quinn, although they aren’t truly mine so I won’t be doing the whumpee part
1. Acquiring whumpee-oh, it was quite easy. I put a tracker on a rebel and watched them go to their little base. We had a little raid, and I took them.
2. Choosing whumpee-It was clear they were the leader. Everyone panicked when I grabbed them, so I knew they were valuable.
3. Keeping whumpee-I know that they’re strong, and I can use that. I give them freedom but I can’t let them go until they tell me where my son is. I must find him.
4. Legality-Ahahhhaa! I make the laws, I can’t break them. The authorities have no right to stop me. If you’re concerned, however, section 3 paragraph 24 clause eight says that rebels do not have the right to try and stop any punishment. I’m fine
5. Open-ness-Well, I don’t parade them around, but a few of my advisors know that they exist.
6. Quinn has a very comfortable room in the castle, they’ve progressed enough to move out the cell. Even if the room locks on the outside
7. The entire castle is my “workplace” but I don’t bring them to most important decisions.
8. Quinn is quite confusing. They’re a rebel, and a terrible liar.
9. While I certainly don’t think of Quinn that way..their hair is nice. If I were ever going to kill them, I’d scalp them and keep it as a wig.
10. Quinn is mostly obedient, and they’ve come a long way. They used to spit on me and just spout insults all day.
11. I don’t have many rules. Dont leave, dont attack the guards, and dont roam without Alex, me, or a guard.
12. Oh, I bring out the good-ol whip. Always works.
13. I’ve tortured many people before. I won’t say that I’ve tortured Quinn. I’m just conditioning them. With others, I don’t let them rest. I’m being quite nice to Quinn here, they haven’t gotten their limbs removed in weeks!
14. Oh, I’d have to say I love skinning. My healer, Alex, is wonderful at fastly healing someone so I can do it all over again! It’s quite effective.
15. Quinns treats is being able to see their family, having a beautiful room, and being let outside. They’ve behaved enough to deserve these:
16. Possessive? I don’t care. Although I wouldn’t like anyone trying to take them..
17. A few pathetic escape attempts were made when they first got here. You know, darting through doors and sprinting down halls. I just drag them back.
18. Oh, when I got their family involved they certainly broke. They pretended to not care until I brought their little brother up. Oh, how they cried!
19. Their mine now. My soldier. They don’t belong to anyone else.
20. They can move about the castle and very soon, outside, as long as they have a chaperone.
21. Of course I’m doing the right thing! They’re a fucking rebel, what am I supposed to do, give them a cookie? I’ve never felt remorse.
22. I’d have them executed.
23. Alex, my medic, checks up on Quinn often. Healthy as a horse.
24. You have to find out what they care about. What they love. Then you exploit that.
25. I’ve certainly helped them learn that nobody is on their side. Nobody has tried to save them, and I make sure to let them know.
26. My guards are allowed to handle Quinn, and so is Alex. That’s about it.
27. Well, of course I allow them to talk. It helps me get information. Anyone can talk to them.
28. Boundaries are for nerds.
29. I’ve only known of Quinn through rumors before I got them.
30. Quinn gets quite good meals. When they first came here, I did “starve” them, but I never actually do it. I need them in top shape. I only give them the sensation of starving. It wasn’t effective, so I stopped.
31. I use them for information. As the rebel leader, they are also quite effective propaganda.
32. My ownership of Quinn shows the rebels that nobody is safe. That I am coming.
33. I don’t feel anything when I hurt Quinn. I get satisfaction when they tell me what I need to know, and that’s it.
34. Skip!
35. I used to have to restrain them as they got quite violent, but I don’t anymore. Locking them up in a room is enough. They do try and kill themself, but it’s not often enough I have to worry.
36. They’re just..so stubborn. Thats one thing I’ve tried to beat out of them.
37. They wear whatever’s in their wardrobe. I don’t stock it, I don’t know or care.
38. I have nothing to be punished for. I will remain as I am for centuries to come.
39. I believe in me. I am a god.
40. People don’t usually say anything about Quinn. I asked Alex and she said “..Quinn’s nice.” So, vague much?
41. I don’t use a collar. My command is enough to keep them “leashed”
42. No, they aren’t marked. They don’t have to be.
43. Release them? Hell no! They’ll run right back to their rebels with dozens of secrets.
44. Whenever I appear with them, I keep a firm grasp on them. Their propaganda; like I said.
45. I’ve sedated them when I needed to move them or if they need to calm down. I’ve drugged them to have horrible nightmares, because those will become reality if they don’t listen to what I say.
46. I’ve certainly never seen anyone try and rescue them. Or if they did, it was a pathetic enough attempt I never noticed them.
47. I put a roof over their head. I give them clothes, a comfy bed, luxury food, books to read.
48. Hm. I can’t say I remember doing it, but I probably have.
49. Only if it’s important, okay?
50. Haha! You can try but you’ll lose a few fingers

Finley’s first birthday
word count: 4.2k
the very last chapter in Finley’s last year! I do have other bits written for the williamson’s for when he’s older with siblings but I’m not sure if I’ll post them <33
find the masterlist here!
March 29th 2025 | 1 year old.
You stirred as the sun peeked through the curtains and shined on your face, instinctively turning toward Leah beside you. The peaceful rise and fall of her chest was a sight you had always cherished, but today, on her 28th birthday, it felt even more special.
March 29th had always been a favourite day for you because it was a day dedicated to the woman you loved the most. It was a whole day where you got to celebrate her and she couldn’t say a word.
Last year the day got even more special. You gave birth to your baby boy and now you get to celebrate your two favourite people in one day.
A smile tugged at your lips as you lay there for a moment, simply watching her, memorising the way her blonde hair fanned out across the pillow, the gentle curve of her lips, and the way she looked so peaceful as she slept.
It was a rare luxury to have these quiet moments in the morning before Finley woke up, and you weren’t about to waste it. You leaned in close, pressing a soft kiss to her forehead, your lips lingering there for a second before moving to her temple, then to the bridge of her nose. Leah stirred slightly, her brow furrowing in that adorable way she did when she was waking up.
You continued your gentle assault of kisses, letting your lips brush over her closed eyelids, her cheeks, the corner of her mouth and finally her lips. Leah’s eyes fluttered open, and a sleepy smile graced her face as she blinked up at you.
“Good morning, birthday girl,” you whispered as you sat up in bed, “Happy 28th.”
“Mmm, morning,” Leah murmured, her voice laced with sleep. She reached up, wrapping her arms around your waist and pulling you closer, her eyes still heavy with sleep. “That’s a nice way to wake up.”
You chuckled softly as she rolled onto her back. You straddled her hips. “I thought you deserved a special wake-up today. It’s not every day my beautiful wife turns 28.”
Leah’s smile widened, her hands rubbing at your hips. “Thank you, love. And it’s not every day our little boy turns one either.”
The year had flown by, filled with so many firsts, and you couldn’t help but feel a little emotional as you thought about how much had changed since Finley had come into your lives.
“Please don’t remind me,” you sighed, tipping your head back dramatically, “I can’t believe our baby boy is one. Where has it gone?”
Leah nodded, “I know, he’s gotten so big. He’s a proper little human now!” Leah’s fingers gently traced patterns on your hips as she looked up at you, her expression softening. “How did I get so lucky?”
You leaned down to kiss her once more, this time it was a slow, lingering kiss, one that spoke of all the love and gratitude you felt for her. When you finally pulled back, you smiled down at her, your fingers brushing a stray strand of hair away from her face.
“I’m the lucky one,” you whispered. “A perfect wife and a perfect baby boy.”
You laid down on Leah’s chest, resting your head on her shoulder as she rubbed patterns on your back underneath your (her) shirt.
The peace didn’t last long. Just as you were beginning to lose yourself in Leah’s touch, you heard soft, familiar babbles coming from the baby monitor on the nightstand. Finley’s little babbles, sleepy and full of curiosity, drifted through the speaker, signalling that your little boy was awake and ready to start his day.
Leah chuckled, “Looks like the birthday boy is up.”
“I’ll go get him,” you offered, but Leah shook her head, already swinging her legs over the side of the bed as you rolled off of her.
“No, let’s get him together,” she said with a smile. “I want to see his little face.”
You smiled and nodded as Leah slipped on a hoodie. You followed her, pulling one of Leah’s old hoodies over your head as the two of you made your way to Finley’s nursery.
As you reached the nursery door, Leah paused, turning back to you with a soft smile before quietly pushing it open. Inside, Finley was standing in his crib, gripping the bars with his tiny hands, his wide blue eyes blinking up at you both. His blonde curls were slightly crazy from sleep, and his cheeks were rosy with the warmth of the room.
The moment he saw the two of you, his face broke into a wide, toothy grin, and he let out an excited squeal, bouncing on his little legs. Leah couldn’t help but laugh, the sound filling the small room as she leaned over to scoop him up into her arms.
"Happy birthday, Bubba," she cooed, pressing a kiss to his forehead as she held him close. You stood beside her, reaching out to run your fingers gently through his curls.
“Look at you,” you whispered, your voice thick with emotion. “One-year-old today. How did we get here so fast?” you cooed as you placed a kiss on his cheek.
Finley giggled in response, his tiny hands reaching out to grab and pat Leah’s cheeks before turning his attention to you, his little fingers stretching towards your nose before grabbing it. You leaned in, pressing another kiss to his chubby cheek before taking him from Leah’s arms and cradling him against your chest.
Leah stood beside you, her arm wrapping around your waist as the three of you swayed gently, a little family moment that felt perfect in its simplicity. You breathed in the familiar scent of your baby, feeling his warmth against you as Leah pressed a kiss to your temple.
“What do you think, birthday boy?” Leah asked softly. “Ready for some cake later?”
Finley babbled in response, clearly unaware of the significance of the day but happy to be wrapped in the love of his two moms like usual. His little hands patted your chest, and you couldn’t help but laugh softly, the sound catching in your throat as emotion welled up inside you.
“I can’t wait to celebrate him and you,” you smiled.
“It’s going to be fun,” Leah smiled, “Shall we head back to our bed and get our presents, Bubba?” Leah cooed, tickling Finley’s stomach.
Finley let out a delighted squeal at Leah’s tickling, his tiny legs kicking excitedly as you both laughed at his joy. His laughter was infectious.
"Let's go, birthday boy," you said, bouncing him gently in your arms as the three of you made your way back to your bedroom.
As you stepped back into the bedroom, you placed Finley down in the middle of the bed, watching as he wobbled slightly on his legs before plopping down on his bum with a giggle. His wide blue eyes darted around the room with curiosity, his hands grabbing at the soft duvet as he babbled happily.
Leah climbed onto the bed beside him, pulling out two bags full of gifts for Finley. "Look what we’ve got for you, Bubba," she said in a sing-song voice, holding a small gift just out of his reach, playfully teasing him. His eyes locked onto the colourful package, his tiny hands immediately reaching for it with excitement.
You sat down beside them, watching as Leah handed the present over to him. His chubby fingers fumbled with the wrapping paper, tearing at it slowly, completely absorbed in the process. You and Leah exchanged amused glances, laughing softly as you watched him try to figure it out.
“Need some help, buddy?” Leah asked, leaning in to give him a hand. Together, you helped him pull the paper away, revealing a small, plush toy in the shape of a baby elephant. Finley's face lit up, and he immediately grabbed the toy, squealing.
"Looks like it’s a hit," you grinned, watching him chew the elephant’s ear.
Leah reached over to brush her fingers through his messy curls. "I think he likes it," she said softly, her voice full of affection.
You leaned against Leah’s shoulder, watching your son play with his new toy. Leah quickly pulled away as he tried to crawl toward the edge of the bed. She quickly scooped him up before he could make it too far.
“Not so fast, buddy!” Leah smiled, setting him back down on the bed, “You’ve still got a few more presents.”
Finley sat back down on the bed, his little legs bouncing with excitement as Leah handed him another brightly wrapped gift. His tiny hands eagerly grabbed at the paper, babbling to himself as he tore at the edges with a bit more help from Leah. You watched as she ripped the wrapping away to reveal a wooden stacking toy, the colourful rings immediately catching his attention.
“Oh, look at that, Finley,” you said, your voice filled with excitement to match his, “You can stack all the rings!”
Leah laughed softly, as you both watched Finley pick up one of the rings and attempt to fit it onto the post. His concentration was fierce, his brow furrowed in the same adorable way Leah’s did when she was focused. It made you smile even more, seeing these little traits of hers in him.
“I think we might have a little genius on our hands,” Leah teased, pressing a kiss to your temple.
“He gets that from me, obviously,” you joked, nudging her playfully as you rolled your eyes.
Finley managed to get one of the rings on the post, letting out a delighted squeal that made both you and Leah cheer softly for him. His grin was infectious, his wide eyes looking back and forth between the two of you as if he knew he had accomplished something big.
You handed him the next ring, and he clumsily placed it on the post, Leah clapped for him, her face lighting up with pride. “Good job, Finley! You’re doing so great.”
After opening the rest of Finley’s presents you got up off the bed and grabbed Leah’s out of the bottom of your wardrobe. You gasped as Finley’s face lit up, “Shall we give Mumma her presents, bubs?”
You placed the presents on the bed beside Leah, who had now settled comfortably with Finley on her lap. “Are you ready for your presents, love?” you asked Leah.
“Yeah, I am!” Leah replied, her voice filled with enthusiasm.
You handed Leah the bag of gifts, she picked out a box and carefully tore away the wrapping paper with Finley’s tiny hands gripping at the edges, helping to reveal the gift inside. It was a delicate silver necklace with a small heart-shaped locket—a piece you knew Leah had admired for a while.
“Oh, this is beautiful,” Leah breathed, her eyes misting with tears as she opened the locket to reveal tiny photos of Finley and you inside. She looked up at you, her voice catching. “Thank you so much. It’s perfect.”
You smiled, reaching out to wipe away a tear from her cheek. “I’m glad you love it. You deserve something special.”
Leah gave you a warm smile, her heart full as she leaned in to give you a heartfelt kiss. Finley, sensing the affection, wiggled excitedly in Leah’s lap, reaching out to touch the necklace with curious fingers.
“Let’s see what else is in the bag,” Leah said, gently pulling out another gift.
The next gift was a beautiful photo book filled with pictures of the past year. Each page was a snapshot of your family’s milestones and everyday moments, capturing the joy and love that had filled the past year.
Leah’s eyes widened as she flipped through the pages, a smile spreading across her face. “Oh my god, this is amazing,” she said softly. “I can’t believe you put this together.”
“I wanted to make sure we had a special keepsake of all our memories,” you explained, leaning closer.
Leah looked at you with deep affection, her voice barely above a whisper. “Thank you. This means more to me than you know.”
Finley, now reaching for the book, babbled happily, clearly intrigued by the colourful photos. Leah let him explore, his little fingers touching the pages as he giggled.
You spent a little while longer in bed, opening Leah’s presents, before making your way into the kitchen. You set Finley down in his highchair and gave him one of his tether toys to keep him entertained.
Leah’s hand slipped under your shirt as you cut up some fruit for Finley, she placed soft kisses on your shoulder before following you around the kitchen as you made some pancakes.
The smell of pancakes soon filled the kitchen. As you flipped the pancakes, Leah busied herself setting the table and preparing a few toppings—fresh fruit, maple syrup, and a sprinkle of powdered sugar. Finley watched intently from his highchair, his curious eyes tracking every movement you made.
Leah glanced over at you, her expression one of contentment. “These look amazing,” she said, placing a small bowl of berries in front of Finley.
Once the pancakes were ready, you served a stack onto each plate, setting them down at the table. Leah moved Finley and his highchair over to the table while you cut his pancakes into small, manageable pieces. He eagerly grabbed at the food, his tiny fingers smeared with syrup and fruit.
As the morning continued, the three of you enjoyed your breakfast together, the conversation flowing easily between bites of food and laughter. Finley’s giggles and cheerful squeals added to the mix.
After breakfast and a bit of playtime, it was time for Finley's first nap of the day. You and Leah carefully cleaned up, making sure the kitchen was tidy before heading to the nursery. His little eyes were already drooping as you balanced him on your hip.
You sat down in the rocking chair, Leah crouched beside you as she read him a book, and before you knew it he was fast asleep in your arms.
You gently placed him into his crib, Leah adjusting his blanket as you turned his sound machine on. Finley’s soft breaths soon filled the room, you and Leah quietly stood by, watching him drift off to sleep.
With Finley asleep and the morning behind you, you and Leah had some time to yourselves. You worked together to set up the final decorations and get the cake ready for Finley and Leah’s party. Once everything was prepared and ready you and Leah started to get dressed for the day.
It wasn’t long before you were both ready for the day and Leah’s family soon arrived. You opened the door to see Amanda with her arms already outstretched, ready to greet you both. David, Leah’s dad, followed closely behind with a warm smile, and Jacob was carrying all the presents.
“Happy birthday, sweetheart!” Amanda beamed, immediately pulling Leah into a hug. “How are you both?”
“Thanks, Mum,” Leah smiled as she took her bag of presents from her Mum. “Just can’t believe he’s one already.”
“We’re both emotional but we’re good,” you smiled. “Come in! We’ve got everything set up.”
“Where’s Finley?” Jacob asked, glancing around as he set the presents down.
“Oh well hello to you too Jacob, thank you, Jacob,” Leah sarcastically said.
You laughed at the sibling banter, shaking your head, “He’s napping, he should be awake soon though.”
Just as you finished your sentence tiny babbles came through the baby monitor, “That’s him awake, I’ll go get him.” You told Leah.
“Good timing,” Amanda grinned, “The birthday boy knows he’s going to get spoilt like usual!”
You slipped away to grab Finley from his crib, leaving Leah to chat with her parents. Moments later, you reappeared, holding a sleepy but smiling Finley, his blonde curls slightly flattened from his nap. The second he spotted Amanda and David, his face lit up in recognition, his little arms waving excitedly.
“Oh, there’s our birthday boy!” Amanda cooed, stepping forward to take him into her arms. Finley giggled, his tiny hands grabbing at her necklace. “You’ve gotten so big, haven’t you?”
David leaned over to give Finley’s hand a soft squeeze. “Look at this guy, already a year old. Time flies,” he said.
Amanda set Finley down on the floor who immediately crawled over to the stack of presents and sat on the floor beside Jacob.
Jacob chuckled as Finley grabbed at the brightly wrapped gifts, his chubby hands tugging at the paper with enthusiasm. "Looks like someone knows what's coming," Jacob said, giving Leah a wink.
Leah sat beside Jacob on the floor who was helping Finley tear into the paper as he sat on his lap. He squealed when he finally unwrapped the gift—a soft, plush lion with a crinkly mane and ears. Finley immediately grabbed it, squeezing it in his tiny hands as it made a satisfying crinkle sound, another squeal leaving his body.
“He loves it!” you laughed, watching the way Finley stared at his new toy.
With Finley happily occupied with his new toy, the rest of the presents were quickly unwrapped by Leah and Jacob. There were clothes, books, and toys, each one met with a tiny bit of interest before Finley went back to his lion. Once Finley had opened his present, Leah opened her before the chaos of the party began.
Just as you were clearing up the wrapping paper with Amanda, the doorbell rang. “I’ll get it!” Leah shouted from the hallway before opening the door.
A few moments later, Leah walked into the living room with Beth, Viv, Kim and Vic following close behind her. Each of them held a tiny bag that contained their gift.
“Happy birthday, Le.” Beth smiled as she hugged Leah, “I can’t believe Finn’s already one!”
Leah grinned as she hugged Beth back. "I know, right? It feels like just yesterday he was a newborn."
Beth, Viv, Kim, and Vic greeted you and Finley, who was now happily playing on the floor with his new lion. Each of them knelt down, taking turns cooing over the birthday boy. Finley’s eyes lit up with excitement, his tiny fingers tugging at the clothes and toys they brought.
“Happy birthday to the little man,” Kim said with a warm smile, handing over her gift. “And happy birthday to you too, Leah.”
Leah laughed as she accepted the gift bags. “Thank you! I’m feeling the love today.”
As the party began to pick up, Leah’s teammates mingled with her family, all of them taking turns playing with Finley and catching up with you both. The garden was decorated with bunting, balloons, and a special banner that read, “Happy 1st Birthday, Finley!” The sun was shining, and it felt like the perfect spring day.
Leah’s dad and Jacob were busy setting up the barbecue while Amanda helped you arrange the food on a long picnic table. As you placed down platters of snacks, Leah came up behind you, wrapping her arms around your waist and pressing a kiss to the back of your neck.
“Everything looks amazing,” she whispered.
You turned to face her, a soft smile on your lips. “Only the best for my two favourite people.
Leah kissed you gently before Beth came over, holding Finley, who was now wearing a tiny party hat. "Look at this little guy!" Beth laughed, holding him up for Leah to see.
Leah grinned and reached out to take Finley, balancing him on her hip. "He’s ready for his party, aren’t you, Bubba?"
Finley babbled in response, grabbing at Leah’s hat, and making everyone laugh.
The afternoon was filled with laughter, food, and playful banter. Leah's teammates took turns kicking a ball around the garden, playfully showing off for Finley, who watched them with wide eyes. Leah’s family chatted with everyone, creating an atmosphere of warmth and joy that made the day feel extra special.
As the sun began to lower in the sky, it was time for the cake. You brought out a small cake just for Finley—a simple vanilla sponge with a tiny candle. The main cake for Leah and the guests was a larger, elaborate one, decorated in her favourite colours with a hint of Arsenal’s red and white.
Leah sat down with Finley in her lap as everyone gathered around, singing “Happy Birthday” to the two of them. Finley’s wide eyes locked onto the flickering candle as everyone finished singing, and with Leah’s help, he blew it out, earning a round of applause.
“Happy birthday, my loves,” you said softly, smiling at the sight of Leah and Finley together.
Leah kissed Finley’s cheek, then looked up at you with a loving smile. “I couldn’t ask for a better birthday.”
Finley giggled as Leah helped him stick his fingers into his cake, his chubby hands quickly covered in frosting as everyone laughed and cheered him on. The day was filled with love, and as the party continued into the evening, you couldn’t help but feel grateful for the beautiful family and life you had built together.
Leah grinned, shaking her head in disbelief as she hugged Beth back. “I know, it’s crazy! Feels like just yesterday he was born and you were visiting us in the hospital while Y/N was in labour.”
Kim stepped forward next, giving Leah a gentle hug and handing her a small gift bag. “Happy birthday! Can’t wait to spoil the little man today too.”
“Thanks, Kimmy,” Leah smiled, taking the gift and placing it on the side table with the others.
Viv and Vic joined in the hugs, each of them cooing over Finley, who was still thoroughly engrossed in his new lion toy. Viv leaned down, gently ruffling his blonde curls, “Happy birthday, little man. Look at you, so big now!”
“He’s definitely growing up fast,” you chimed in, walking over to join them. “We barely blinked, and here we are, celebrating his first birthday.”
Leah’s other teammates—Steph, Lia, Lotte, Kyra, Katie, and Caitlin—arrived shortly after, all bringing smiles, laughter, and gifts with them. Each of them greeted Leah with a hug and fussed over Finley. It wasn’t long before the living room was buzzing with energy, Leah’s cousins Holly and Jordan arrived with Henry and Leah’s grandma, Berny.
Leah wrapped her arms around you from behind as you set up the sandwiches with Amanda, “This is perfect, I’m so proud of you for setting this all up.”
You turned your head to place a kiss on her cheek, “Anything for my favourite people.”
As the party moved into the garden, where the sun was shining brightly, the decorations you and Leah had set up earlier shimmered in the light. A large banner that read “Happy Birthday, Leah and Finley!" hung proudly across the patio, with balloons, and a beautifully decorated cake sitting on the table.
“Sorry I’m late, blame London traffic.” Keira said as she entered the garden, “But I come bearing gifts!”
Leah laughed, “You’re always late, but I’ll forgive you since you brought presents.”
Keira shook her head as she rolled her eyes playfully, walking over to set the gifts down on the table. “Happy birthday to the best boy,” she cooed, tickling Finley’s stomach who was now resting on Amanda’s hip. “And happy birthday to my best mate too, I guess.”
With everyone settled in the garden, drinks were poured, snacks were passed around, and the laughter flowed freely. As the day rolled on, the time for cake finally arrived.
“Alright time for the cake, gather round!” Leah announced to everyone as you set Finley down in his highchair.
Once everyone was gathered around Finley and Leah, Amanda came out carrying a cake with the candles lit. Finley’s eyes widened at the sight of the flickering candle, his hands reaching out toward it which Leah quickly pulled back.
Happy Birthday rang out around the garden, everyone smiling as Finley looked around in confusion. He looked at you and Leah with a confused look before looking back at the cake.
“Blow the candles out, Finn!” You encouraged him as everyone finished singing.
Leah gently blew the candles out, smiling as she clapped her hands. “Happy birthday, Bubba,” Leah whispered, pressing a kiss to his cheek as the room erupted into applause. “No one else I’d rather share the day with”
You cut Finley a small piece of cake, watching as his tiny fingers grabbed at it hesitantly before shoving it into his mouth. The room was filled with laughter as he smeared frosting across his face, clearly enjoying his first taste of birthday cake.
As the evening drew to a close, the guests slowly started to leave, offering their goodbyes and final birthday wishes to Leah and Finley. The house became quiet once more, and you and Leah, both tired but happy, tucked Finley into bed. You stood by the crib, watching as his little chest rose and fell with each peaceful breath, your heart full.
Back in the bedroom, Leah pulled you into a hug, holding you close. "Thank you for today," she whispered. "It was perfect."
You smiled, pressing a soft kiss to her lips. "It's all for you, birthday girl. I love you."
"I love you more," Leah murmured against your lips, her hands resting on your hips. “More than you’ll ever know, pretty girl.”

⟡ turn me to ashes, ready for another lie ── ⟢ ・⸝⸝
cyno x fem!reader
you’ve been friends with cyno since you were children, but you started to grow distant once the two of you got accepted into the akademiya. but it seems like life had fated for the two of you to meet again under interesting circumstances.
word count : 2230
⟡ You’ve been friends with Cyno for as long as you can remember.
Since you were young children, your families were quite close, and the two of you had gotten along nicely. Spending your time studying to get into the Akademiya, practicing your defense and fighting skills with wooden weapons (you obviously weren’t allowed to carry real, heavy weapons while so young), or let it be just simple chatter.
...The two of you were inseparable, really. Cyno always had this quiet, serious demeanor, even as a child, but he would light up whenever you talked about what you had been researching about, or even if you brought up a random conversation topic with him which would as a result, make Cyno open up about himself.
Whenever he would open up, you would always be there to listen to him attentively. Providing comfort if he needed it. After all, once you got older, he had more expectations laid on his shoulders, which would weigh him down but you were there to listen.
But even moments like those had evolved into more heartfelt ones, where on many nights, you would sneak out of your house in Aaru Village, running to the location where you had agreed to meet up with Cyno.
The nights when the stars hung low in the desert sky and you were lying with him on the sand, where no words would be spoken for a while until one of you broke it with a question or just something that was on your mind at that particular time.
During times like that, you could swear you started feeling deeper emotions rising within you. Deeper emotions for Cyno. Those emotions people would link to the word love. Yes, you had undoubtedly fallen for your childhood friend.
Your heart racing just a bit too quickly if he got close to you or when your fingers lightly brushed against the others. Those small moments messed with your head and heart— and your cheeks would heat up, making it look as if you got a sunburn directly on your face from the harsh desert sun.
But you weren’t the only one feeling like this— Cyno had been too. Sometimes, on days when he would be getting tutored, he’d purposefully make up excuses to leave early and he would go to your house in Aaru Village, throwing rocks at your window to get your attention and to get you to spend time with him.
Sometimes he would even sneak through your window and land face-first onto the floors of your bedroom, coming completely unannounced. You would always rush up to him and help him off the floor before cupping his cheeks and inspecting his face for any scars or bruises.
And Cyno being Cyno, he would crack an unfunny joke every time— and you’d just let out the most fake and exaggerated laugh ever... but sometimes, he did have a funny joke and you would laugh for real! Those were rare cases, though.
Then came the day you both entered the Akademiya, your paths being different— you had set on the path of becoming an Akademiya scholar and hopefully become a sage in the future while Cyno set on the path of being a Matra.
Since your studies were so different, you had grown further and further apart as the years went by. You were always preoccupied with written assignments or on-field ones, while Cyno had to do completely different work— your schedules never aligned or let you have time for each other.
During those years, Cyno had already reached the title of General Mahamatra and you were a proud Kshahrewar scholar that the Akademiya had recognized for your smarts and you had graduated with honors, earning you a guaranteed spot of becoming a sage one day.
But it was unfortunate, how life pulled you in different directions. Sometimes, you’d find yourself lingering in the library late at night, staring out of the high, arched windows, wondering where Cyno was and what he was doing. Was he out on a mission, protecting Sumeru? Bringing people to justice? Inspecting if any researcher had smuggled in something illegal?
The distance grew like a quiet ache, a hollow feeling that crept in during the silence between tasks. You were always hoping that you’d cross paths, maybe bump into each other in the halls of the Akademiya, or catch sight of him on your way to the House of Daena, but those moments became rarer and rarer, almost like they were slipping through your fingers.
In the fleeting times that you had seen him, you’d share a nod, perhaps even a brief word or two, and that was it. But that wasn’t enough to fill in the gap and the feeling of longing you had.
But seems like life had fated for the two of you to meet again... even if it was not in the greatest conditions.
A Kshahrewar student in the Akademiya had asked you for help with their thesis and if you could sign a few documents and being the kind soul that you are, you willingly helped the student, but what you did not know is that the student had a plan that would ruin your future.
Just hours ago, you had been called in by the Akademiya’s administrative council, a grave, severe group of scholars who had looked at you, not with the familiar approval and warmth you’d once known— but with shame and disappointment.
“Smuggling in illegal goods. Deception. Identity theft,” They’d listed, each word like a dagger cutting into you. The words had barely registered in your head, they seemed surreal like they were meant for someone else entirely. Not me, you’d thought. I wouldn’t… I didn’t…
But then they’d shown you the records. Signatures you didn’t remember signing. Documents you’d never seen. Submissions under your name that claimed research and contributions you had no recollection of. A carefully laid trail of deception— all leading back to you.
The student had forged your handwriting, signing your name— using your signature on documents that said you allowed illegal knowledge and banned books to enter the Akademiya, letting Kshahrewar students use the books and help themselves with the knowledge that was strictly forbidden. Even using your signature to sign documents that were for the sages— making it seem as if you were a sage and you allowed this to pass.
Unable to process this— you ran out of the office of the council, your heart skipping beats as your breath becomes nothing more but a sharp inhale. Your mind flashed back to the many nights spent in the dimly lit House of Daena, going over paper after paper, searching through records, deciphering theories... all for the student.
But your kindness was repaid with betrayal.
You ran and ran...
Ran until you had reached the desert, the same one you grew up in before you left it for the Akademiya.
You had long lost your shoes and now you could feel the burning sand under your feet as you started to pant, unable to continue running— especially under this scorching sun. The desert stretched endlessly around you, heat radiating off the dunes and distorting the horizon as if the very world was laughing at you. The Akademiya had been your beacon, a chance at something great, something meaningful. But that had now been shattered by a single, twisted act of betrayal.
You felt dizzy, confused, lost... what were you supposed to do now? You couldn’t run or hide forever, you would get caught and get sent on trial for your supposed crimes, that you didn’t even commit!
And just as you were lost in your thoughts— a figure crept up right behind you, “I suggest you stop running from your crimes.” That voice... was it...
Turning your head around, “Cyno...?” You managed to say— your voice coming out like a gasp, as your eyes locked in with his. And he too, was surprised. The world seemed to blur as you faced Cyno, the General Mahamatra himself.
Of all the people to find you out here, it had to be him—the one person whose duty it was to hunt down criminals and bring them to justice. For a brief moment, you hoped he was simply an illusion, a mirage born of heat and exhaustion.
But Cyno’s eyes, sharp and unyielding, were very real. The same red eyes you have known since you were a child. He swiftly put away his spear, before a deep exhale escaped his lips. “[name]... you’re the one who committed those crimes? Ran away before the council could call for the guards?”
“Cyno— listen to me, please! You have to believe me when I say I didn’t do anything! I was tricked— deceived by a Kshahrewar student! He used me, used my name, my signature to sign all those strange documents!” You blurt out everything, your voice cracking with every word, placing your hand on your heart as you hold back tears— coming face to face with Cyno after so long, and in a situation like this too was not ideal, not in the slightest.
Seeing his expression, he did not seem exactly convinced... after all, you were a scholar who graduated with honors, how could somebody like you get tricked so easily? And by a simple student as well? Something was just not adding up.
“Please... do you really think I would commit such heinous crimes after working so hard to get into the Akademiya? To get where I am today?” You could feel your heart racing faster, a pit forming in your stomach, making it ache. Every word you spoke felt weak. “You know me Cyno... we’ve been friends since forever, you know I wouldn’t do something like this. He manipulated me and now I’m the one paying for it.”
For a long, unbearable moment, he remained silent, unreadable. His gaze swept over you, taking in the desperation carved into every inch of your face. At last, his eyes softened by a little.
The feelings he had for you before had made their way back up to the surface, the feelings he so desperately tried to remain buried all this time so they would not interfere with his work or yours, but alas, seeing you once again made them strike.
But then again... could he really trust your words? And if you were lying... could he really punish his best friend? His crush of many years?
It’s his duty to uphold the rules and punish wrongdoings but oh... he was weak when it came to you and he knew it as well.
He swallowed, his jaw clenching as he spoke up, “I... can’t let personal relationships interfere with my line of work. You know that.”
“I know,” You whispered, your voice unsteady. “And that’s why I need you to believe me. You’ve seen the things I’ve overcome just to be accepted into the Akademiya, and to get this far. You know that better than anyone.”
Cyno looked away, his gaze fixed on the endless desert horizon. For all his training, all his discipline, this was the one battle he hadn’t prepared for... having to weigh his loyalty to the Akademiya against the loyalty he felt to you. He had always thought he’d have the strength to choose justice, but standing here now, he realized just how much that belief wavered when it came to you.
“I can’t ignore this, even if I wanted to,” He admitted, more to himself than to you. “I can’t look the other way.” You nodded to his words, the ache in your stomach growing. “I’m not asking you to look the other way. I would never ask you to betray who you are, Cyno. I just... need you to trust me like you used to. Like back then, when we were kids.”
For a moment, he didn’t speak— letting silence engulf the two of you.
“You think I don’t want to believe you?” He finally said, his voice barely above a whisper. “I want to believe you more than anything. But if I’m wrong, if I let my guard down for you and it turns out I was blinded by my personal feelings for you, then I’ve failed not only the Akademiya but myself.”
“Then don’t do it for me,” You replied gently, letting a small but fragile smile come up on your lips. “Do it because you believe in the truth. Do it because you know in your heart that I wouldn’t lie to you— not about this.”
Cyno closed his eyes, taking a slow breath. “Alright,” He murmured, his eyes meeting yours. “I’ll look into it, for the sake of the truth. But understand that if I find nothing, I’ll have no choice but to carry out my duty. No matter what.”
“I understand— thank you, Cyno.”
As he turned around and walked away, his figure becoming more and more distant— you felt your hand reaching out to him before it crumbled, and you let it fall to your side. Your eyes falling to the sand beneath you.
You could now only hope that he would find some sort of evidence that led to you not being the one who committed the crimes and that the student who manipulated you would get what he deserved.

soo i am preparing for mental hospital hospitalization
i mean i got * very * stressed to the point i am not really able to talk verbally, like i couldn't for three days, communicating through text with roommates. now i can talk but it feels like i have limit of words in like 10, and if topic went juuuust a bit not positive i am loosing words and start shivering
and it's super obvious that i need help and i need to go to clinic. but like. it feels like i am a looser
like, i was so proud that i wasn't in need of hospital for years. i was in remission. and going to hospital, i mean not doctor appointment, but like, in hospital bed, feels like i lost
i just can feel that mother's "oooh i knew it, [] will not make it by []r own, going to other country, what was [] thinking! brainless psycho, [] needs 24/7 watch under my eye! it's a forever kid!". she will not know (i fucking hope, i burned bridges) but i just feel this. presense of that attitude in my head. and i hate this.
i know that it is okay to go to hospital if you feel bad. and world gives so much reasons to lost mind, especially last years and now. and it is honestly surprise how i survived till now. without being transported to hospital unconscious. and it is surprise for me that i have option to go to hospital by myself, not on emergency car. and i have option not to go. but i just understand that i will not be able to get back on road by myself.
and i know that it is super okay to be hospitalized multiple time. i mean in term of not shaming. if you broke your leg years ago, and broke again, you * need * to go to hospital. it's not a question. yeah its sucks but. if i would break leg multiple times i would think "damn, why surroundings hitting me so hard and so often. but, okay, time to go to hospital again as fast i can, get rest, and go on"
why i feel. this "i am looser i lost at this" thing. like its a game which you can win - not being in hospitals, you need hospital you loose. it's not a choice if this wild word broke your mental legs many times. yeah, feeling good feels like a win. but like, if you have win situation it's not necessary to have looser position. like, idk, some art event and it can have a bit of element of choosing most cool piece, but i wouldn't feel myself a looser at smth like that if i wouldn't get prize, but could spent nice time with nice people and eat tasty fancy snacks
so yeah, i know i need it but.
i am afraid

Faker
Im going through a hard time this month with my cats health so thought i do a random vent fic enjoy.
Summary: They fake to make it, they both are lonely losers that manage to make the best of it. Sometimes a vent fight helps them find some peace from their trauma. Tag: Trauma bonding, crush hinted, SMG34, the gays are fighting
SMG4 yawns as he gets out of bed, the morning light shines hitting the man in the eyes. He squints as he closes the curtains, for once SMG4 got to bed at a decent time. With a proud smile the guardian leaves his room to get breakfast together, that's when he notices a purple blur pass by his window. He turns and sees a depressed looking SMG3, concerned for his partner he runs to his bedroom to put on his iconic overalls before heading to Three’s coffee n bombs. As he approaches the cafe, he catches SMG3 sitting at a table outside. With a bright smile Four greets the man “Hey three! How is everything going?” Three sighs as he glares at SMG4 “What do you want SMG4?” he spat out making SMG4 take a step back. It was clear as day that Three was not having a good day, he looked around and noticed not a single customer showed up. Frowning, Four nervously points it out “Still not having luck?” Three growls getting up from his seat “WHY DO YOU CARE?” The anger and hatred that came out made Four’s eyes go wide.
He then lets out a sigh as he keeps talking to Three with a cheerful tone “We are friends Three, of course i would worry. Is there any way I can help you?” Three rolls his eyes walking to his cafe door “Why? To show you're better than me?” Four shakes his head “No! Come on Three, we make a great team don't we…there is no need to push me away.” Three’s grip on the door handle tightens, every night since the usb garbage incident he has been haunted by an image of SMG4. He grins down at Three calling him pathetic, that he is nothing but a faker acting tough when he is nothing but a softy at heart. His grip lightens as he wonders if that version of Four had a point, shaking his head he pulls the door open. Seeing this Four runs after him, he grabs Three’s hand in concern “Three what is going on with you?”
Three turns smacking Four’s hand away “What's wrong? Everything I do fails! No matter how hard I try to entertain people, everyone sees my content as cringe. I make the cafe of my dreams and no one comes due to…the owner being unlikable.” Four reaches out to comfort Three only for the other man to walk away from it, Four looks down thinking before giving the man a small smile “You have done successful things, you're super smart and figured out how to out smart so many of the villains we fight! Remember zero, how you pointed out how to save Mario!” Three lets out a bitter laugh “You mean the same monster that killed Terrence, yeah i really got a victory for us there.”
Four starts to get upset at how the guardian kept brushing aside his attempts to comfort him, Three walks behind the counter looking at Four with annoyance. SMG4 walks up to the counter giving SMG3 a desperate “Let me help you out Three,” that got SMG3 to laugh “Help me? How fake can you be, ah yes help with my trauma as you ignore yours!” Four stare’s confused at his partner, Three places a cup in front of Four “You were an asshole to your best friend on his day, you got a keyboard that almost killed us all. Oh yeah, how about using my past against me to get everyone to come to your fucking Christmas party!” SMG4 stares, mouth agape at SMG3 words, slowly he smacks the table causing the cup to jump slightly “oh yeah? YOU ALMOST SHOT ME BECAUSE YOUR OLD VILLAIN FRIEND TOLD YOU TO!” SMG3 growls climbing the counter to be taller than the other man “YOU ALMOST DROP ME FOR THE PERFECT VIDEO!” Four grabs Three’s leg throwing him to the floor causing the cup to fall, shattering, Four was done playing nice with the man that clearly just wanted to fight “YOU THINK NO ONE CAN TELL BUT WE ALL KNOW YOUR THE FAKE!” Hearing those words angered the man, Three kicked Four’s leg causing him to lose balance and join him on the floor. SMG3 pins the man down growling “FAKE! AT LEAST I DON'T PRETEND IM A NICE PERSON THAT CAN DO NOT WRONG!”
They both stay silent staring at each other, breathing heavily after all their yelling. Three lets go of Four as his eyes water “And yet…i still think you're my best friend..” Four sits up surprised to hear Three’s words, thinking over the pair’s past he lets out a small chuckle “Guess in the end, we both suck huh?” Three wipes his eyes giving a small smile “At least you can admit you suck, been telling you for years.” Four playfully smacks Three as they both giggle feeling better after their small fight. Three grabs Four’s hand shyly looking off to the side, hiding his blush “I’m frustrated that things don't go my way, I hate being second place…so I took my anger out on you.” Four smiles and scoots closer to his partner resting his head on the man's shoulder as their fingers intertwine “I forgive you, plus your right…I fake being okay cause it's hard to face all I have done.” Three hums as he turns looking Four in his eyes “Yeah well…we have our ways to cope just remember im always here for you.” They both smile softly at each other forgetting that the cafe was open, Meggy giggles seeing the sight. Meggy and Tari walk away from the cafe with a big smile “I think it's best if we let those to talk out their feelings Tari.”

HEY Y'ALL IT'S MIKAILER WITH AN "ER" WHY IS THAT SO HARD TO GRASP!?
---
Did I get your attention, Mikaila? I hope so, let's see.
Mikaila, I don't like you. You've done shit that's soured my opinion of you. I'm acknowledging that now to get that out of the way. I'm not here to be two-faced about this or blow smoke up your ass.
But as one idiot who stayed in a toxic relationship to another-- I'm not making fun of you because I think I'm better. I know. Being in a relationship like that brings out some ugly shit. You resent and fear people will never forgive you. You don't know if you will forgive yourself. I'm not making fun of you because I think I'm better than you.
And it feels kinda good, being treated badly? In a weird way? When you're used to it? When you feel you kind of deserve it? It did for me too. My abuser did some fucked up shit to me. I don't know how to describe to you the strange feelings I'm left with now. Sometimes I think I finally hate her, sometimes, as pathetic as it makes me feel, I still miss her. It's a rot in you that never really goes away, but you learn to live with it. I understand that agony. I understand that anger of how fucking unfair it is.
You know my opinion of Lily. You're not going to trust me that I'm not saying all this just to get you two to break up to hurt her. Fair. Very fair, not going to pretend like it's not. But if Lily loves you, nothing I'm about to say should be an issue. She should want what's best for you, right?
Here's the rub Mikaila, it's been a few years now. I know you want out of your situation at home, but it doesn't seem like Lily's going to be able to help you with that at this point. I'm sure Lily's given you plenty of reasons as to why, and it's time to listen to her.
If you're heart's set on coming to Canada, your best bet is getting a job here. Or even, going to school. Art degrees (Here in Canada) aren't as expensive, provided you go to the right school. Even taking out a student loan for just one year to figure your shit out. I know you're in quite a bit of debt right now and don't want to get into more, but. You gotta do what you gotta do.
Here's the college I went to. Yes, your work is sufficient to potentially get admitted. Believe it or not, art school's get that illustration is a learned skill. Artists start from all different levels:
Look through the admissions requirements to see if you have the academic records to be admitted. If not, you could also consider upgrading through online classes aswell.
Again though, your best bet is to try to find employment. The cost of living isn't great here right now, but it isn't great anywhere. I doubt you'll be able to find cheaper rent in America.
Once you're here or wherever you end up, away from the chaos of your home, you might find it a lot easier to get your head around, establishing some better independence and becoming a citizen by yourself. It's a shitty process, but not as bad as the one you guys have in the States. We stan an immigrant here.
You need to look out for you, Mikaila. It's not selfish. It's not a matter of whether you "really deserve it or not." Nobody's going to save you. You're emotionally spent because of your parents, You're emotionally spent because of Lily. And it feels kind of nice how much Lily needs you. But you can't help her until you help yourself - and again, if we're all wrong and Lily really loves you, she shouldn't have a problem with you finding your way.
My own mother once told me I was "born sad." I've never not hated myself. I ate up any little bit of love and validation no matter how many bitter, razor pills that came with it too. That's just how it is for some of us.
But you know what Mikaila? Fuck em. Fuck all of them. Fuck everything. Fuck me, Mikaila. You've got one life. One body. One you. Whatever you think of her, someone's gotta fight for that poor bitch. Why not you fight for you?
Everyone's a stinky meat bag stripped down, Mikaila. Everyone's made a fool in the wake of the shit people like you and I have been through. Not everyone's going to be able to forgive everything, but everyone's not wholly past forgiveness.
I'm no better than you Mikaila. Nobody is. Some of us just get to know the worst sides of ourselves better than others.
I don't like some of the things you've done, girl. But I see you. I get it. Tell us all to eat shit. Fix your life. Don't rely on Lily to make you feel whole or to save you. To make you feel worthy. No person can do that. She could be the reincarnation of Mary Mother of God herself, and you couldn't expect that from her. Be your own advocate. If your relationship isn't toxic, it can survive you becoming a more whole you.
This asshole is rooting for you. Give me an excuse to undoomer "Mikailer." My girl needs a win.

Ah this is cringe as heck for me, but screw it, the last ask you got about a person not feeling much sympathy all for Peppi-No really was great, kudos to the OP of that comment since it really got me thinking, why even if I agree what the dude is doing is awful... I actually feel pretty fucking bad for him XD.
Like, I think we can all agree we've done shit in our lives that wasn't great, and that doesn't diminish the harm done or the fact other people have gotten hurt from our own stupid decisions. I also just think sympathetic villains are so interesting. (when done right, and hell you could argue even if he is the protagonist of the DMW AU, Peppi-No is a bit of an anti-villian) it really makes you think about the fact its so normal for people do try to avoid the consequences of their actions. I'm sure everyone has done something bad and instead of admitting fault have doubled down and tried to save face because they were SURE they could "fix" it without getting hurt from it.
Sure most of the time, (...I hope) its not as bad as murdering a person and taking on their identity... I think there is something really human about wanting to not get hurt, and feeling like shit about regrets we've had.
I think that Peppi-No even if what he doing is wrong, still... I dunno I can empathize. I mean.. he's sooo sowwy 🥺, its kinda pathetic, like a more extreme version of a puppy that just destroyed something important to you. Like "awww... you asshole, you're so cute though but goddamn it..."
I both am loving the angst of this AU and know its going to be so cathartic to see Peppi-no finally deal with his lie blowing up in his face and suffering MORE >:). I feel sympathy yes but I also love angst hehe.
(sorry if that wasn't super well worded? I don't normally send things like these >//>)
I assure you, it’s not cringe! It’s nice to see both sides voice their opinions!
Personally, I’m pretty divided on how I feel about Peppi-no. Part of me wants to strangle him for what he did (and what he might still do*cough* ), but at the same time, he’s,like you said, a sad, pathetic "sowwy" puppy, and I can’t help but feel bad for him.
When he took a piece of Peppino, he may have gained a conscience but not emotional maturity. He’s like a kid who just realized he fucked up in the worst way possible and is terrified of the consequenses. And fear can drive people to do terrible things, after all. Before that, his entire existence was just scrambling around, making pizzas out of whatever he could find: pigs, other clones, pizza monsters. He ended many lives, that but never faced any sort of repercussions. Never got a chance to learn "murder bad" ,
Then he takes a bite out of one of the kind Peppino—bam! Conscience, coherent thoughts, and memories of the guy he killed flood into his head. Can you imagine the whiplash, the shock, the stress? I certainly can’t.
Obviously, I’m not some dough doppelgänger pretending to be someone I killed. That would just be silly… no, really, I’m not.. But I can relate a little to what Peppi-no’s going through.
And let’s be honest, how many of us would have the absolute balls of steel to admit we killed someone’s friend in cold blood? Sure, it’s the morally right thing to do, but… you know. I’m not sure I could. (Once again purely hypothetical scenario)
Peppi-no's actions are unexcusable, he should know better than this by now, but at the same time you can kinda understand why he acts the way he does.

The Day Death Met Her Equal
(Agatha/Rio fic)
When Rio entered the small wooden cabin, she instantly knew that this job would be an easy one. Looking around the sparse room she squinted in the semi-darkness taking in the tiny hearth with the ambers barely glowing, the drying herbs hanging from the ceiling, the little basket with needle work in the corner, and the old woman sleeping peacefully in the bed in the corner. A simple life, but well lived. She liked encounters like this, the ones who went so willingly. She had chosen a young woman's appearance, a nice face, a kind face. It made the journey so much easier. She had learned a long time ago that her true self caused more fear than necessary, and she adjusted.
Not that she didn't bring it out from time to time, usually for the men, the ones who she would have loved to take sooner if she was allowed to. The ones who were horrible until the very end, who didn't deserve the life they had been given. Or just the ones who thought themselves so clever that they could somehow talk their way out of death. They annoyed her, so they got the full experience, a face that demanded respect.
Taking slow steps towards the bed in the corner, Rio suddenly stopped. Next to the old woman, a girl had drawn up a chair and fallen asleep, her face resting on the edge of the bed, her body hunched over, her features barely visible under her wild hair. Hesitating for a moment, Rio thought about returning later. But the time had come and the girl was fast asleep.
Stepping around the sleeping girl, Rio lightly touched the old woman's hand.
"It's time to go." Rio whispered.
The old woman opened her eyes and smiled.
"I've been waiting for you."
Taking her hand she led the woman to the other side of the cabin where she had opened up the portal for her to go through. Just like she had hoped, an easy, calm one. No bargaining, no holding on. Just peaceful acceptance. If only they all were like that.
Looking back at the sleeping girl, she lingered in the room. Tilting her head to the side, she couldn't quite tell why, but something about her was keeping her, drawing her in. Maybe her time was up soon, too. Rio couldn’t always predict the exact moment, and humans died at all ages, especially these days. Looking at her sleeping body, she watched her soft face, counting her breaths. No, this girl was nowhere near her end. If anything, she radiated too much life, too much energy. Something bigger than her seemingly fragile frame. I won't be seeing you for a long, long time, Rio thought to herself with a smile.
With one last look at the girl, she turned to leave when a sudden scraping sound made her jump.
"Who are you?"
Turning back slowly, Rio faced the now very much awake girl standing in front of her but didn't answer.
"You're a witch." the girl said.
Rio nodded.
"I haven't seen you around here before."
"I'm not from around here."
The girl crossed her arms in front of her chest and stared at Rio. Her whole body seemed to be ready to fight, like a reflex. Like a caged animal making herself bigger. Her piercing eyes studied Rio and then landed on the pathway still open behind her.
"Oh." the girl said softly.
Rio nodded again slowly.
"You came for..." The girl trailed off.
Suddenly her attention was back on the old woman. Leaning down she touched her now cold hand, and Rio watched a thousand thoughts wash over her face as she sat back down in the chair. A few silent tears ran down the girls face as she stared blankly ahead.
"You're not what I imagined you'd look like." she said finally.
"I have many faces," Rio replied matter of fact.
"I like this one," the girl said looking at her and Rio couldn't help but smile.
"Where did you take her?" The girl asked after a moment of silence.
"That, I can't tell you." Rio replied, shaking her head.
"She wasn't one of us, she had no power. But I liked her. We're not supposed to leave the coven, definitely not supposed to mingle with non-magick people. But she was always nice to me." The girl shrugged and wiped her face. "Not a lot of people are nice to me. She was nice."
"I'm sorry," Rio said although she had no idea how the girl felt.
Life and death to her were a cycle, the natural order of things. To Rio both were the same, two sides of one coin, she didn't know what grief felt like.
"I'm Agatha by the way," the girl said standing up and taking a step forwards.
"You are not scared." Rio said tilting her head again.
"Why would I be? You came for Mrs Miller, not me. And you... don't seem scary."
Rio laughed. This girl was unlike anyone she had met, and she had met a lot of people. Rio was deeply fascinated. She had been the moment she had laid eyes on her, but the longer she spent in her presence, the stronger her hold on Rio seemed to be. Staring into her inquisitive eyes, time seemed to stop, and the earth seemed to slow down around them.
"I must go." Rio said, remembering herself.
Turning towards the portal, she hesitated a moment.
"Will I see you again?" Agatha asked behind her.
Looking over her shoulder, Rio smiled at the girl.
"Of course you will. Everyone does."
"Oh, no, I meant... before then."
But Rio didn't reply. Still smiling, she turned and stepped through the portal, disappearing in the mist.

I'm a little late for Day 1, but I didn't want to miss the opportunity to send some love to some very special people. I'm not around as much as I used to be, so I feel a little disconnected. I'm sorry and trust me, I miss you all very much! 🩷🩷🩷
@aallotarenunelma - As I said in my reply to you, I hate the rough time you went through, but as someone who tries to find silver linings in dark clouds, I'm so glad that brought us together. You've always been such a bright, positive light in this fandom, and I am so happy we got to know each other. I've missed you here, and seeing your name in my notifications yesterday genuinely made me smile. I hope you're doing well, and I hope you'll pop in from time to time! I've missed you!
@alj4890 - My dear fellow Tobias simp! lol, I'm so glad that luscious little fictional man brought us together, but nowadays, he's definitely secondary to you! I enjoy our talks so much, and as much as I love a notification of a new Tobias x Chris fic, I'm even happier to see a message from you. It's so nice to have people who "get" you and I feel that whenever we talk. I'm so glad you're here for your creativity, and your friendship!
@aria-ashryver - My dear, you have always been such a beacon of light and love and an example of how each of us should be, even if it's difficult to live up to. You've endured so much and do so with a grace, dignity, and beauty that leaves me in awe. I think of you all the time, and I hope you know you have this agnostic praying and sending love and healing your way every day. Thank you for being you, thank you for spreading joy, and I hope you know how important you are not only to me, but to so many others. xoxo
@angelasscribbles - My sister from another mister. Girl, you're not even a fandom friend anymore - you're a friend. Period. It's so important to have people in our lives who "get" us, who we can speak to without fear of judgment, and who we can laugh with or be scared with. People who share our values for a better world and keep believing even in the darkest of days. You're that to me, Angela. Like I said, you're not a fandom friend, but since this little hellhole is where we met, you deserve to be acknowledged here. <3
@storyofmychoices - Sweet, sweet Dani. Where to even begin? You are the backbone of this little world of ours, and you give of yourself so selflessly time and time again. You are probably one of the kindest people I have ever met, and you do your best to see the best in everyone, even when it's very difficult to do. You've known darkness yourself, so it pains you to see others there, and you give so much of yourself to help others see the light. During some of my darkest times - in fandom and real life - you've brought me sunshine and joy when I've needed it most. I know both of us have not been around here as much because... life... but I hope you know how much I treasure you and your friendship. You are truly a rare gem in this world, and I'm so glad you're part of mine. Thanks so much for all that you do for the fandom - but mostly, for being you. xoxo
@icecoffee90 - My lovely, lovely Z. Another person who I have to remind myself I met through the fandom because you're not a fandom friend at all; you're a friend. I have always treasured our goofy talks and our intercontinental viewing parties, and now that we've gotten to SEE each other, we've created such beautiful memories. We've had so many laughs and you've brought joy to my life on days when I found it impossible to see the sun, I probably don't say it often enough - but you mean the world to me and my life is so much better because you're in it. Plus, we shared the world's best pumpkin pie ice cream together - that's a bond nothing can break! Love you to bits, sis! xoxo
@cariantha - Sweet Cari! As the fandom continues to dwindle, I'm so grateful for the people who remain, and I mean it when I say that you are at the top of that list. You've always been such a bright spot here, and your light shines through your work and actions. I always smile when I see a notification or DM from you, and I'm so glad you've stuck around. The fandom is better for it, but selfishly, I'm glad you're still here personally because you're one of the people who has always made this place great - even when it was not so great. Thanks so much for everything through the years, Cari! <3
@lilyoffandoms - Sweet, sweet Lily. Where to even begin. I feel bad because I've been removed from this place lately, and one of the people I miss the most is you. I adore you because you are all things kind and good - and a whole lot of don't fuck with me or what matters to me, too. That's the vibe right there! lol I've treasured our chats, I appreciate you as a person, and I love your giving nature. Seriously, you're someone others can look up to and aspire to be, and count me amongst those who hope to. If all that weren't enough YOUR TALENT! Writing, art... you are amazing and thank you for sharing those talents so generously with all of us. You make this place wonderful. You make it worth coming back to, I'm honored to call you friend. <3
@peonierose - My dear you have always been such a bright spot in this world. Just thinking of you conjures up images of bight pink flowers against a sunny sky. I know that's not how life has been for you as of late, but still, you don't let it change who you are at your core - a kind, beautiful soul. Thank you for being here all these years and for bringing so much joy to so many. We are so lucky to have you! <3
@quixoticdreamer16 - My baseball buddy who somehow got me through this wretched World Series! lol I truly value your support, kindness, and having someone who gets the thrill of victory and agony of defeat from spring through October. Thanks so much for being a valuable part of this fandom and so special to me! xo
@coffeeheartaddict2 My dear Tash. Thank you for helping me through the fall of civilization as we know it! lol, You've become such a dear friend, I almost forgot we met through the fandom, but I'm forever grateful to the fandom for bringing us together. It's good to know that whatever life throws at us, we will still have this crazy little corner to retreat to.
@dr-colossal-pita - My dear Ren, I feel so badly because I've been MIA due to many factors recently, and I hope that will change. But I hope you know how much you mean not only to this fandom but to me. Our chats, whether they be about fandom nonsense, shake-our-heads family moments, shake-our-head WORLD moments or lifting each other up with the cutest of little animal memes/videos, mean so much to me, just like you mean so much to me. I'm so grateful you're a part of my life. <3
@secretaryunpaid - Cher! You are just one of a kind. I know we have not had as much time to chat, and I miss that so much. But I'll always treasure our talks - the laughs and the deeper moments alike. You are someone that I know I would get into so much trouble with - and I love that! lol We know kindred spirits when they enter our lives. Thank you so much for your kindness and support, not only to me but also to so many here, and thank you for your friendship always! <3
@annoyingmillenialnewbie - My greek sister! Sister of the traveling spanakopita! lol I know we've both been busy and have not had as much time to chat as in the past, but that does not mean you're any less special to me. I'm so glad this little slice of crazy brought us together and I plan to keep you, even when it's long gone. <3 Miss you φίλε μου. xoxo
@genevievemd - My sweet little sister. I don't have to go into great lengths to tell you what you mean to me here, because we know what our friendship is to each other. Knowing we understand each other and have each other's backs on even the darkest of days means more to me than you will ever know. Just this week alone you helped me more than you can know. I love your creativity and what you've given to this fandom, but most of all I value YOU and I'm so glad you're a big part of my life xoxo
@jamespotterthefirst - Amiga, where to begin? The laughs, the mischief, the thirsting, the wellness checks! lol, I know we both have times when we struggle, but it's amazing even when you're struggling, you still manage to make me smile and make me laugh. When times are dark, you remind me that, somehow, we'll make it through. I'm so glad to count you amongst my friends - fuck fandom friends - FRIENDS, and holy shit, the fear of us being on the same coast together! lol I literally cannot wait. Thanks for being a part of my life, my friend, and I will always cherish this place for bringing us together.
@liaromancewriter Mal it looks like we will be amongst the ones to turn the lights out here one day. lol And I'm so grateful for that! Thank you for remaining our queen of fluff and for sharing your talents with us, and thanks SO MUCH for taking over CFWC this year. I know it's a lot of work, and I would have hated to see it go away, it was so much easier "retiring" knowing it was in good hands. Thanks for the laughs, the chats, and helping hold up the fort! I'm not the only one who considers myself lucky to have you here. <3
@potionsprefect - Alice! Another I'm not leaving until I say I'm leaving member of the OH fandom! lol I'm so glad you're still here and we still get to revel in Ethan/Victoria and of course Luke/Lily. I'm so proud of you for all you've accomplished in real life and still love shaking our heads together! (And there is so much to shake at! lol) Thanks for being part of the fandom & part of my world! <3
OK, these five ladies are not around anymore, but I'm mentioning them nonetheless. Fortunately, I'm still in touch with all of them to one degree or another, and they know how much they mean to me. I can't tell you how much I've missed you being here, but we have your old works to remember you by. I'm so glad this crazy place brought us together. @danijimenezv @lucy-268 @writer-ish @bex-la-get @a-crepusculo
Some people have supported my creations for so long, and I want each of you to know how much I appreciate it! Thanks so much for your ongoing support: @mrs-ramsey @onikalover @differenttyphoonwerewolf @kyra75 @custaroonie
@youlookappropriate @kingliam2019 @delmissesryanandcassi
These people help make the fandom a better place just by being in it. Your kindness, support, and positivity do not go unnoticed, and you create a brighter space for all of us. Thank you! 🩷🩷 I've been lucky enough to talk with some of you privately. We've shared lovely conversations and helped lift each other when needed. I hope you all know how precious you are to me!
@ladylamrian @cadybear420 @petalouda85 @rosesnink @dutifullynuttywitch

@tessa-liam @missameliep @trappedinfanfiction @takeharryandgo @thosehallowedhalls
@crazy-loca-blog @rafasgirl23415 @tveitertotwrites @thefirstcourtesan @sillydg
To some people I've been lucky enough to get to know in the past year. Whether it's been through our creations, playing reblog games, geeking out over music or our MCs, or just sharing in conversation - I'm so glad we've gotten to know each other! 🩷🩷 @renninflight @choices-ceri @brycesgirl @snoopdogcone
I always worry that I've missed someone, and with my Swiss-cheese brain- it's likely I did here. But, I want to send love and appreciation to anyone who has ever crossed my path here.

Class 1A x Mitsuri Reader please
She’s actually Quirkless and has no doubt been picked on, however she was recommended by All Might because of her skills
So when a bunch of demons attack the school she’s the first one in combat and making everything look easy with her flexibility and unique sword
-When news got out that there was a new student joining the hero program, that was shocking enough, but when everyone found out that they were recommended by All Might himself and that you didn’t have a quirk- there were almost several riots throughout the school, finding it disrespectful that someone quirkless was in the hero program.
-When you walked in, the anger was quick to dissipate, with most people, as you looked so bright and cheerful, holding a wrapped sword across your back. You were so alluring and sexy!
-Many, in other classes, were quick to try to spread rumors that you used that body of yours to seduce All Might into getting you the recommendation, but All Might himself was quick to squash that rumor, furious that the students would even think that!!
-Your class was quick to accept you, except Bakugo, who thought you were a joke, seeing how bright and cheerful you looked- seeing you as an annoyance more than anything.
-You were always willing to help others, and you made friends quickly as well as crushes, as you seemed to always be making eyes at anyone who was good looking in your eyes, making many believe you were boy-crazy.
-Others, in other classes didn’t hesitate to bully you for anything they could- your unusual colored hair, your massive appetite, or your dense nature with your sexy body- calling you a bimbo- but the one thing many were relentless on was that you were quirkless.
-You did you best in not letting their words get you down, as it was nothing new, as you knew that you were an oddball, while your friends did their best to comfort you- seeing you just taking their cruel words was almost heartbreaking.
-Everyone’s opinions were very quick to change however, when demons attacked the school- there were special heroes, ones that were able to kill the demons, but most of them were not in the area when the school was attacked.
-You stunned all by going to a window and punching it, easily breaking it, much to the shock of everyone around you as you were quick to unwrap your sword and step up onto the windowsill.
-While Aizawa went to grab you back down, not wanting you to put yourself at risk, All Might stopped him, “Show us what you’re capable of young Y/N!” you turned with a smile, “Yes!”
-Jaws were dropped open all over the school, who were watching from the window as you leapt and charged in, your sword looking more like a ribbon you were dancing with, easily taking on the demons.
-When one tried to punch you, everyone was stunned when you caught the blow with one hand, a crater appearing below you from the force before you returned it, slapping him hard across the face, splattering him into oblivion with your unnatural strength.
-Your strength was natural, due to your extremely dense muscles, but it wasn’t a quirk, as you finished handling business as the Demon Slayers arrived, seeing that you, a student and trainee Slayer, had handled the attack.
-You were shy with the Slayer’s praise, who were impressed with your work, as it was your dream to join their ranks one day.
-Your classmates and the other students were also impressed, your friends rushing to you, making sure that you were okay, while others were feeling guilty by the way they were treating you- just because you didn’t have a quirk didn’t mean that you weren’t strong- but they had been quick to judge you.
-Over the next few days, many of your tormentors had approached, sincerely apologizing to you for the way they treated you- they weren’t acting like the heroes they wanted to be. They were surprised that you were so quick to forgive them, showing your kind nature, which won many of them over, realizing what a nice person you were.
-Bakugo even apologized to you, much to the shock of your other classmates, but you were all smiles, leaping into his arms to hug him as you were elated, “I’m so happy!!” while Bakugo was yelling at you, embarrassed about being hugged, “Let me go you dumb bimbo!!”
-Some things were probably never going to change. But you weren’t bothered as you smiled warmly, happy to be with your friends.

Usually the "I'm emigrating" is hyperbolic, but I've seen actual guides being passed around here. That's more than performative. Alongside "stockpile medication" type of things, which is not only illegal but you'd have to permanently screw over your healthcare to do unless you're buying on the black market.
>that for a vulnerable person in a marginalized group, it's not unwarranted or being "part of the problem" to want to flee the country instead of staying to help.
My bone to pick with that is that the people who can't leave ARE the vulnerable people. These type of people are the ones who ostensibly believe in oppression hierarchy, ie oppression olympics. If you can leave, ergo, you are not oppressed, you're privileged, and you're abandoning the "real" marginalized people. These are also the people who think that any harm your actions cause to someone lower down the ladder than you makes you a genocidal bigot, let alone someone who consciously chooses to leave people to die, whether through deliberate action or not. That's what "abandoning people" literally is. That's what leaving is. It's "looking away", and these are the people who believe not enmeshing yourself in the horrors of the world means you're a genocidal bigot who wants people to die.
I'm not saying that everyone who makes the immigration posts has that belief system. Lots of people who do are the ones passing that stuff around though. It'd be nice if people acknowledged both their paranoia and their hypocrisy. "I'm scared so it's fine" lol, that refrain should be recognizable and repudiated.
>I don't know, but too many comments like that within progressive bubbles might certainly perpetuate the idea.
If it's understood as hyperbole then I don't think it's any different than other things like that. Like idioms, it's got no literal meaning and the intent is the metaphorical. Nobody actually burns bridges, but when people are acting like it would be literally great, you've got a problem.
Prize for the worst post-election take on my social media goes to the following:
the american dream lives on for white cis males but for everyone else it died today
It's quite impressive to encapsulate so much of what's wrong with the common progressive framing of the political battleground for the last decade, and just how counterproductive it is, in such an elegant single sentence.

He'll Kill and Die for Me: Dark!Evie Au
Summary: Evelyn isn't happy about her father's wedding and has some choice words for Grace. And to Grace's disappointment, Tommy isn't the supportive husband he promised to be.
Warnings: Mention of killing, mention of suicide, dark!Evie, Au.
Words: 650
This is not related to the actual story. Just an AU I wanted to dabble into. Though, something similar does happen in the main story, just not like this.
Read, comment, and reblog!
Martha told her that you can’t wear white to a wedding, but Evelyn Shelby hadn’t gave a single fuck. She wore white, showed up late, and had red lipstick on her face. And, best of all, she sat in the front, her middle finger propped nicely on her knee. She didn’t hate many, but she fucking couldn’t stand the purple clad bitch. “You’re not very discreet,” her Aunt Ada whispered. “Actually, you’re quite disrespectful.” But she could only grin in response because she knew what she was doing, staring at her father.
And when it came time for the reception, she had no care to be there. Socializing and mixing with them. Her, of all people, her. But when she went upstairs, Grace had been lingering in her bedroom. “You know, Evelyn,” she said, watching as the young girl twitched.
“I don’t like people in my room-”
“There’s help for girls like you,” she continued, malice tainting her words. “You need help. Your father isn’t your lover, Evelyn, he’s your father-”
“He isn’t really your lover, either,” Evelyn retorted. “No, you had one back wherever the fuck you were. Wrung himself with a rope, did he? Must feel nice knowing you can kill a man just by existing.” If the wench was to insinuate Evelyn had any more than daughter-father affections for Tommy, she was going to play the game and make sure she got to the finish line before Grace. She moved forward. “You should really be careful, you know.”
Grace, deadpanned and dryly asked, “why is that?”
“Be careful around the stairs. They’re bit high-”
“Are you threatening me?”
“And one day,” Evelyn paused, dragging out her words. “You may just…slip.”
“You want to push me down the stairs,” Grace concluded, swallowing. “Very well, then, Evelyn. You can continue to live in your delusions.” Grace stood from the white painted vanity, pausing at the door frame, giving the girl a look. “What happened to the kind girl-”
“I’m not kind to those who betray my father-”
“Now you’re just a young girl, but stupid.”
Later as the reception cleared out, Tommy knocked on Evelyn’s door, but didn’t wait for her to answer. Grace was behind him. She looked up from her desk, smiling, but her father wasn’t. “Evelyn, did you and Grace have a talk earlier?”
She blinked and pretended to think. “Um, hmm, earlier? A brief one.”
Tommy sighed, sitting on the edge of the bed, hands folded. “Did you tell Grace that you’d push her down the stairs?” He was clearly uncomfortable with the confrontation. Evelyn, shocked, stood from her vanity.
“Daddy! How…why…how could you come up with something so silly like that?” She sat on his lap, which he cradled her. “Daddy, look at me,” she whispered, holding his face in her hands. “When have I ever done something so harsh?” Tommy’s frown broke into a soft smile, and Evelyn leaned in, placing a lingering kiss on his cheek.
“I know,” he whispered, hand rubbing circles on her back. “It’s just a misunderstanding.” Grace’s face dropped all emotions as she stood there, repulsed and confused…gaslit and humiliated. As Evelyn hugged her father tightly, she grinned at Grace and raised her middle finger.
Sliding off his lap, she smiled. “I’m sorry if you may have misheard me. I was telling you that the maids were polishing the stairs this morning. They’re still slippery, daddy. Saw Uncle Arthur take a bit of a trip.” He smiled down at her, running his fingers through her hair.
“Well, that’s settled,” he said, fixing his coat. He started to walk out and said, “I’m going to grab the car and then we’re off, love.” He gave Grace a kiss.
When Evie was sure of it, she snorted, walking to the baffled bride. Grabbing her jaw roughly with her thumb and index, she said, “remember, Grace, daddy will fight for you, but he’ll kill and die for me.”

Bullying
Liam has faced hatred over these past few months for people were convinced that he hated zayn and harry. But how could you hate liam? When he literally helped everyone in the band. Trying to pick up pieces made everyone smile. After the band split apart, he was the one who was left behind. Like you should see that people were there supporting zayn for his new single (never neglecting the fact that people somehow started to hate him as well for leaving why do they do that!) but then many many people supported zayn. Then there was harry, there's a biiiig community of us that doesn't listen to liam, louis, niall or zayn, but harry. So basically Harry's got the biggest support (which obviousleh he deserves and so all of them deserve too). Niall, they all were very excited for niall to release his singles and album. They supported him in a way where it was seen. For louis and liam, the ones who were the best songwriters of the band, had been left behind. I see no support behind liam. I saw no support behind louis until, FITF tour and album. That made me soooo happy I can't define it in words. Now liam had been releasing singles but no one quite noticed because nothing was a banger still saying that it's the lack of support. Not a lot of people like liam now. All the things he had said he's apologized for them. YOU GUYS NO ARROGANT ASS APOLOGIZES FOR ANNNYTHING!!!! Where are you living. Even when they receive hate ok? Even when they receive hate!!! Now honey lemme clear this out I've seen many people on the internet saying bad things about him and saying but they're heartbroken because he wasn't the liam we knew and we lost our childhood. Bro, i definitely am sorry that you lost that and you're allowed to show grief and definitely are allowed to mourn and give condolences. But you are not allowed to talk about things, bad things that he did in the past. Like bb honey, are you guys literally ignoring the fact that this man has been very much upset. And DEPRESSED? Why do you not see that. Makes me furious makes me furious! Because i know what the hell is going through someone's mind when their mental health is slightly compromised. Depression is a thing you can't control. You have no control over how you manage the situation "the liam we used to love is not the liam he became" this statement, this thing defines that there was something that had been going on in his life. Always wonder WHY (helps a lot). I've been studying psychology as a subject and dear friend, i can understand many behaviors that such patient manifest. Now i want you tell me, if someone was a sunshine like liam and becomes someone that you guys paint bad, isn't it obvious he was depressed. Like honestly in this world everyone deserves kind words okay? And people haven't been showing kindness to liam. Everyone literally everyone has said things that they didn't mean to. You don't define a man from his mistakes. And he admitted things that he said were not quite nice so please no asshole has admitted doing wrong. He is the best person. He could've been better. Think of yourself in situations that you were misunderstood. Think of it in a different way please. Please don't hate on him. Because whoever he's left behind are still alive and feeling the pain that you people give through words. You're bullying me, you're bullying his family, you're bullying his friends and bullying his fans. It's not an inner child that mourns to his death, it's everything in us directioners that's mourning. I feel everything you say about him. We all feel everything you say about him. Please stop torturing us and his friends and family. We did nothing wrong to you guys. HE DID NOTHING WRONG TO YOU GUYS.

"You're welcome," he said earnestly "I think you'll find a lot of people here have their own skeleton's, so you won't have to worry about too many curious minds." There were, however, a few nosey people in town much like everywhere, but for the most part people didn't pry into the past. "That's a great idea! You'd make a very cute lumberjack."
"Yes, really!" Ludwig beamed and stood up straight, pretending to bring out the hose of a Proton Pack that wasn't actually there, "Yeah? When I lived in Germany, Dresden was in a Soviet....uh," he trailed off, trying to think of the English equivalent "statehood. So we didn't have anything cool like Ghostbusters or.... any good movies, really. So I enjoy.... stuff like that." He blushed and scratched the back of his neck awkwardly "I know that sounds really childish.. but, I do sometimes feel like a kid experiencing things for the first time." It was bittersweet. He now had access to so much media and the rest of the world in general, so it was a great feeling but he could sometimes feel sad for his former self. The little Ludwig inside of him who never got any of these things, like most 'normal' children. "Yes, it is! Very good." He paused, "You're crazy, Brook. You have to watch it!"
Ludwig smiled, a sad and small one as he listened to Brook talk about listening to the fall. "That's very sweet, I'm glad we had so many supporters, even in America. It was really hard times back then." He was lucky enough to at least see it on the television at one of the local bars. He smiled whenever he thought of that memory. Everyone in the packed building cheering in delight, congratulating their favorite German transplant. He thought about how many shots he had been given to him as a celebratory gesture. He groaned, "I had the worst hangover of my life the next day. If they ever decided to put it back up and knock it down again, I don't think I would survive."
He couldn't help but tick his head back as he let out a chuckle. Ludwig wasn't about to admit why it was that he could tell, so he shrugged his shoulders and leaned forward, saying "Ah! It's easy, I'm European. It's like how people from America would be able to tell immediately that someone is from Texas... Or say, New York." He attempted his best New Yorker accent, which he thought was very good, obvious by the smirk on his lips. But, it was not. "Dragoş? That's nice, it suits you. Mine is just my old man's name, nothing special like that. Precious peace." He repeated, quietly. His was the German equivalent of John, almost as basic as he could get. "Have you ever been able to visit? Romania."
So they both had secrets it seemed, and that actually made Brook feel more comfortable. It was like Ludwig's way of telling him that it was okay to keep his secrets, that they didn't need to know everything about each other, especially just after meeting. "Thanks," Brook said gratefully, smiling at the other man. "Well I'm glad you're here because it means we got to meet," Brook added; already he could tell that Ludwig was a good one. Shrugging, Brook pretended to be noncommittal, but already he had ideas of what he could dress as. "I guess I could get a lumberjack costume together pretty quickly," Brook admitted. "All I would need to buy is a fake axe. I probably should use a real one." He laughed as he said this, though obviously it wasn't something he would truly consider. Whatever he had expected Ludwig to say, it wasn't this. "Really?" he asked in surprise. "That's...unexpected, but in a good way. You know, I can see it." And he could: Brook could picture Ludwig dressed as a Ghostbuster, ready to, well, bust some ghosts (Brook had never seen the movie and didn't know exactly how it went). Brook laughed at what Ludwig said, and he retorted, "I beg to differ, Ludwig, because I know of at least one German who is funny." Admittedly Brook didn't think of German people as a whole as being funny, but there were exceptions to every rule of course. "Is a Proton Pack that thing they...uh, suck the ghosts up with?" he wondered. "I've only seen the trailer."
"It really is," Brook agreed, pleased to see how excited Ludwig was. Shaking his head, he answered, "No, I couldn't watch it. I was actually in the OR at the time, though we had the radio playing. Normally we listen to music, but not that day." Brook realized in this moment how much he was going to miss surgery. Sure, he could always go back one day maybe, but that wasn't for certain. It was quite possible that time of his life was over. Surprised, Brook asked, "You can tell that I'm Romanian? How?" He was intrigued, wondering what about him it was that gave it away, not that Brook minded. "My middle name is Dragoş, which is a Romanian name that means 'precious peace.' I like having carrying that part of my culture with me."

Chilchuck analysis speedrun: As a hardworking half-foot who grew up poor and discriminated against and had his gullibility taken advantage of multiple times in his early adventuring days, Chilchuck thinks optimism is a dangerous flaw. He’s stressed and strict all the time because his job is noticing details like traps that could get everyone killed before anyone knows it, he takes the lives of everyone to be on his shoulders, and with the way he speaks about it that probably partly reflects how he felt about taking it upon himself to provide for his family too. His life’s always been pretty centered around work and has become even moreso now that his wife left and everyone is independent, and due to past events he’s very iffy with bonding with coworkers. He thinks feelings and job are a disaster mix. Like with his wife or with parties hiring him as sacrifice, being open or having good faith is vulnerability which can get you hurt, so he processes and shows all his stress as anger instead of worry. Doing strict dieting probably isn’t helping the irritability what with hunger, and on top of being a hunger suppressant alcohol might be the main stress reliever he has.
His grey hairs are so earned
#Chilchuck tims#dungeon meshi#analysis#HAPPY CHILCHUCK DAY#You know what yeah understandable have a good day#Alcohol be a ticket straight to chilling out town I suppose#Spoilers#dungeon meshi manga spoilers#Thinking on if I should split my family masterpost into diff posts for max reach hmm#I’m def editing in the second page into that post that “I’ve got three people to think of here” sounds sooo much like that’s#how he’d think about it in a family setting as well. He works so hard for them 🥺#I could have put 100 pics on this post to justify everything I mentioned but this is a speedrun for a reason. I’m planning so many#compilations rn i need a break from rereading lol#He’s just here to do his work!! He just wanna do his work!!!#I’m always rotating him in my brain like rotisserie chicken :( Hopefully this doesn’t sound disjointed or insane to average readers#He’s always on his guard so he has a short fuse and his type of humor & liking for snarky remarks doesn’t help#Also bc he knows nothing lasts he has a very work hard play hard mentality where ‘dying doing something you love. Like drinking’#is nice in his opinion#This post makes it all sound so dry. Chilchuck is so messy thinking about him is thrilling I swear. This is concise but at what cost…#OH ALSO he has weird self-hate issues where he really values his skills but devalues himself on a personal level.#‘I am a coward. I only care about myself. I cheated on my wife (lying for no reason)’ etc etc#Can’t disappoint people and make them leave you if they already have no expectations and esteem of you 😏💡#Laws are important to him bc he knows how bad punishment is if you break them and how they’re the key to getting better rights
