A new bookstore/cafe opens, almost overnight, in Gotham.

They say it can find very rare books, heck maybe even books lost to time, unfinished manuscripts, rare writings from famous writers, etc etc.

As long as you respect the books within you won't have a problem with the recluse and introvert owner GW.

As for the cafe side, you can always count on friendly Danny to help you out, either it be an order from his cafe or to finding a book if GW isn't around. (Though beware of the younger, sometime around Dani (with an I) is working, she's a bit of a troll compared to her brother)

Jason totally is checking the place out... You know cause its totally giving weird vibes (good weird vibes, almost like its calming the raging Pits) and not just because it has a first edition Jane Austin (that the owner is totally maybe thinking of selling to Jason cause he can sense this man would treat it with respect)... Or that the tea is calming as heck.... Or watching Dani ("I like you. You can totally call me Ellie!") chaotically troll everyone around her.... Or that her older brother is fucking cute as hell... Who he may or may not had watched accidentally kill the Joker when the guy had been closing up the shop alone one night and had been caught in the alleyway on his way home...

Details in Stan's letter that still haunt me

(how long will I continue thinking about a two page letter that's technically not even that long because Stan's handwriting is fricking large? .....you don't need to worry about that.)

The bro code only shows up in the Lost Journal pages, and to me Stan's message feels like it purposely echoes Ford's "miss you" in the college photo (and for some reason the message doesn't appear in the website version of the photo?) ....or alternatively Stan simply noticed how distressed Ford was about this entire thing and wanted to support him in a way so he can be sappy but without the kids knowing, or both!

Stan's claim about the Oregon lottery contradicts what the Lost Legends website said about Tate McGucket's ability to predict the winning numbers!! ...but also breaking into the Lottery HQ is definitely a very Stan thing to do and it's not the first time small gags have been retconned

Despite spending most of his letter nonchalantly destroying him, the taunt about ripping a dollar bill in half is the only part where Stan is directly responding to Bill. Maybe it's the two of them having similar ways of thinking but it's rather specific considering Bill taunts the reader about it...

And after Bill spends an entire book calling Ford Sixer despite normally using a pretty wide range of nicknames for him, Stan then spends his letter mainly referring to Ford as Sixer, even though post-Weirdmageddon he tends to use a mix of nicknames. And it's not like he'd gotten to see Bill himself for long, let alone see him steal that childhood nickname (that is only used twice in the actual show btw!). Did Ford tell him what happened or...?

With all this and the website's "still on your mind" message, what I'm getting at is my tinfoil hat theory of Stan somehow seeing some of the pages the irl readers saw, even when it should be personalised to the specific reader, and he's been lying about it for some reason. Considering that the book flat out doesn't make an attempt at convincing Soos, I find it a stretch that whatever Bill was telling Stan via the book was an attempt to convince him either.

Wouldn't be the first time Stan's skimmed through a book and lied about what it meant to him.

(...Now I kinda wanna see a story about the family reading their versions of the book and making fun of it while Stan is improvising every single one of his pages and blatantly ignoring Bill's attempts to mock and taunt him)

But also I'm fascinated by the letters that only showed up on the website (aka the Soos+Wendy+McGucket+Pacifica ones). I'm assuming that Mabel had stuck them on after Stan's letter... but they were basically eaten by the book itself because seeing Stan's letter kick-started Bill's breakdown which takes up the rest of the book

I’ve seen headcanons of “what if Evie doesn’t like Sandy?”

And I raise you: what if Evie doesn’t like Soda? What if she and Sandy are close, and she doesn’t think Soda is a good enough boyfriend for Sandy?

She sees how scared Sandy gets by Soda’s adrenaline junkie tendencies, and how he never tries to curb them no matter how much she begs, thinking it’s enough to cheerily reassure her that she’s got nothing to worry about. She sees how hurt Sandy is when Soda flirts with other girls at the DX, how it inflames what Soda should know are her already deep insecurities, how he thinks he can smooth that over by telling her it’s “just for the business.” Steve gets business just fine by actually being good at cars, not by sweet talking customers. That time she overhears Soda telling Sandy that she’s a classy girl, “not trashy like other greasy girls.” Well, fuck you too. Like he’s so classy. She hears the dirty things he calls out at other girls when Sandy ain’t around. Steve does the same thing - all greasy guys do (except maybe Johnny Cade?) but at least he don’t try to hide it from her.

Soda acts like he’s crazy in love with Sandy - and he probably is - but it’s an up-on-a-pedestal kind of love, like she’s some perfect angel who don’t got her own problems. Instead she constantly listens to him go on and on about his, “things are tough with his brothers, and he can’t talk to nobody about it except me and Steve.” “Yeah, but who do you get to talk to?”

And does he just not notice how she panics when he talks about them getting married as soon as she graduates? It’s not the marrying him part, she’d do that in a heartbeat, but she’s told him time and time again that if they get married, they gotta get outta Tulsa, she’s gotta get away from her folks. And again, he just tells her it’s all gonna be ok, they’ll stay here and he’ll protect her from them. But he already can’t protect her from them. How many times has her old man hit her across the face?

She knows Soda ain’t a bad guy really. She knows he means well. She even knows he loves Sandy. He just doesn’t really see her. Which is ironic. (“His brothers love him to pieces, I know they do, they just don’t really see him.”) (While she’s at it, she wants to strangle Big Curtis and Baby Curtis too sometimes. “Pay some goddamn attention to your middle brother so he don’t keep whining to my friend all the time!”)

If Soda really loves Sandy like he says, she hopes he wises up one day before he loses her for good.

I'm really enjoying seeing concepts repeat now that new fans are finding billford.

Seeing new takes on themes that OG billford fans from before the book of bill enjoyed like:

🔺 And lots of "what if Bill wasn't evil and actually was nice and circumstances contrive so they stay together in a healthy way" AUs that stretch realism (which Bill is all for so go off I guess)

The one new thing I've seen with the new wave of Billford fans is Bill and Ford meeting as children and that panning out. That's a new fun one.

It's really nice to see patterns repeating and all this new content for ideas that folks have been churning out. Billford fans, we are being fed well!

....waiiiiiit a minute, between ortho, vil, kalim, jamil, azul, and ruggie hasn't there been at least one character from every dorm so far (except diasomia of course) who's been shown to attend a school other than NRC in the dream worlds?? because if they did that on purpose and we're also going to see a heartslabyul student at a different school next update, then i really can see cater secretly wishing that riddle could've gotten to go to RSA--a place where he wouldn't be allowed to run wild and impose his own obsession with rules on everyone else, where he would be much more encouraged to relax and make friends, that would most likely be a way healthier environment for him overall. therefore leaving cater free to lead the dorm, since riddle isn't there to take over.

More to come with this eventually- I’m working on my designs for other characters at the moment, but for now we’ve got Red-Tailed Hawk for Curt and Eagle Owl for Owen.

For DMA I had Barn Owl wings because a) Barn Owls are beautiful and I wanted to draw the wings for them, and more importantly, b) Owen would probably want to disguise his wings, and it would make sense if it was as a different type of owl. I just assume he’d dye his feathers in some way or another. Look- just don’t think about it too much.
