the world put you in front of me and we aligned
pairing: ryomen sukuna x reader
word count: ~1.5k
short description: the king of curses has never been asked for comfort before, but that doesn't mean he won't indulge you.
notes: no beta barely edited probably ooc; no content warnings just the fluffiest lil thing you'll ever get from me, mwah! manga credit used for header image [nsfw, 18+]!
"Tell me what you need, little one, while I still feel patient."
"Well I-I... I don't know how to ask for that," you reply sheepishly, ducking your head to hide the flush that was starting to prickle across your cheeks at your own discomfort. Two fingers caught your chin, evading your retreat into yourself, tilting doe eyes back into the intense, scarlet-hot gaze of the man towering over you still, not one to back away from an uncomfortable situation so easily.
"Use your words, brat," Sukuna purrs cheekily in return, gravelly and low but warm like molasses, trying to lure you out of whatever self-conscious spiral he was watching you fall into - it wouldn't work. Not when he was willing and able to catch you.
The way he touched you, the way he looked at you, the way he spoke to you: it would sound silly if you tried to say it out loud, but there was no other word that came to mind but reverence. Utter devotion or nothing at all, there was no in between with someone like him. Were you projecting? Did the passion between you two feel too good to be true, not because of him, but because of you?
Because you couldn't handle being seen by him, could you?
It wasn't easy, but it was familiar; you didn't, couldn't, ask for help, because you didn't have the vocabulary to explain what you needed help with, exactly. No one could snap their fingers and make all your problems go away; if they could, you wouldn't ask for that, because a charmed life had no real value. And yet... no matter what you said, there was an unflappable feeling in your gut that Sukuna would scorch the earth to give you whatever you desired, the closest thing to a god you may ever see.
"I just want you to hold me," and the words sounded silly as soon as they left your mouth. He was a CURSE for god's sake, or at least, he was one. By all accounts, he was a monster, a being of the lowest morale, and there was nothing that would make him to succumb to the petty whims of the human he just so happened to have a dalliance with. A blip on his cosmic radar, a temporary satisfaction in an endless lifetime. He didn't have the time to waste, the capacity to care, the attachment to give --
Except as soon as the words left your mouth, the smallest of smirks twitched the sides of his lips. As always, you yielded when given a command, and he was always filled with a silent pride by your willingness to succumb for him. Without a word, Sukuna scooped you from the couch bridal-style, earning him a startled yip that turned his smile wider. You felt the echo of his chuckle rumble deep in his chest as he carried you into the bedroom, a protest on your lips that this isn't what you meant, not everything was a code for sex... "Sukuna, I..."
The complaint died in your throat though, not having time to manifest as you squeaked instead; Sukuna had kneed his way onto the bed, still not dropping you as he set his back against the headboard and gingerly, with all the tenderness in the world, set you down across his lap. It would've brought tears to your eyes, if you hadn't been so bewildered by this side of your lover, one who got you both off thanks to his penchant for sadism, but this time...
This time, he used his immense reach to grab the comforter, pulling it over your bodies. This time, he used the hand still wrapped around your back, propping you up, to begin tucking in the seams of the blanket, bounding you tightly against him. This time, the heat of your combined body warmth overpowered your cyclone spin of anxiety. This time, his free hand came up to cup your cheek for a moment, looking into your watery, hazy hues before placing the most delicate kiss against your forehead. This time, you would even call him chaste, not a word you ever imagined using in reference to Sukuna. This time, he looked for nothing more, wordlessly pulling your face into his chest as the arm around your back tightened its hold. This time, he really did just... just hold you.
It was too much.
By the time your cheek had pressed against heat of his skin, you were a goner. Maybe you were just that obvious - maybe he saw how pathetic and hopeless you felt, and knew that no amount of his usual teasing would cajole you out of your reverie. You're not sure he could feel sadness; you're not really sure he ever had, but you appreciated this act of softness from him. (He could, though rarely, and he did, though oftentimes only because of you, or in this case, for you). Shaking like a leaf in the wind, you curled as far into him as you possibly could, and with a heave, an onslaught of tears began to leave your body like the damn had broken at the end of a wet summer.
Where did he learn comfort like this? A large palm rested against your lower back, splayed open and anchoring you to his lap, not letting you budge an inch, even if you wanted to. His other hand had curled around the side of your neck to its nape, pressing you against him, silently insisting you stay as near to him as possible, to ride out whatever anxiety had taken you so far from him tonight. He would wait. You had only asked to be held, so he remained silently, trying not to focus on the way your pathetic little hiccups would make his heart squeeze, or why the white-hot lick of anger curled beneath his skin at seeing you in this state.
The more you succumbed to your sadness, though, the worse it seemed to get; the riptide of emotion had grabbed you by the ankle and sought to drown you in its depths tonight. Sukuna noticed immediately when your breaths had grown panicked and short, hiccups faltering into staccato sobs, and your heart began hammering out of rhythm with his own.
No, no, that would not do. You were supposed to be soothed. You couldn't see his brow furrow sullenly, confusion flickering behind maroon eyes, a sound akin to a growl unfurling in his chest. His exasperation with your befuddling human emotions was short-lived. The growing rumble in his chest had finally moored all your senses to the same shore, grounding you in tandem with the anchor points of physical touch.
Once he realized you liked it - and he should've realized you'd like it, you often enjoyed his primal sounds in other scenarios, too - well, of course he continued, your emotional fulfillment his main concern at the moment.
You must be dreaming. That was the only thought in your head as your hiccups waned into pitiful sniffles, doe eyes sore and half-lidded in the shelter of Sukuna's chest. "R-ryo...?" you managed to bleat, softer than he'd ever heard his name on your lips before, and the use of his first name had your lover purring again with a low timbre hum, giving your entire form an encouraging squeeze to signify his attention.
"Don't go... please, don't go," you whined, barely above a whisper, and something in chest shattered at your unwillingness to be without him, now that you had let him in to that tightly locked room he'd call your heart. If he had thought dominating your physical body had been pleasurable, there was an absolute intoxication that came from you being this kind of vulnerable with him; where he had always assumed he'd feel disgust, he felt a dizzying delight in pacifying you this way, still a dance of your bodies, just with different choreography than he'd ever known before.
"Oh, little one," the king of curses assuaged in a tone of equal measure, his whisper husked as he ducked to kiss your forehead again, reveling in the enchanting sigh he earned from you at such a simple affection. With that, he began to rustle you into place for sleep, more delicately than he'd ever handled you before; though, it could be noted that he was still a selfish man, and didn't give you any room to move or curl away from him, intent to keep you tucked against his chest for the rest of time if it meant witnessing you like this, at your most docile.
Your pretty face was folded into the juncture where his chest met his neck, and he could feel your breathing settle into dreamy sighs, comforted and cared for exactly the way you'd asked, so trustful that you would dare to sleep in his presence, the sweetest of lambs curled up and comfortable in the middle of the lion's den. He could kill you, right there. He would kill for you, right then.
"There is nowhere I could go that I could not take you," Sukuna promised softly into the darkness of your room, hoping you'd hear his promise in your dreams. Now that he knew this, he never wanted to know anything again.

template: simple geometry
this is a fully customizable template i originally made as a dash theme header for one of my characters and then got carried away with. you could use it for acceptance graphics or a regular character template, too! two psds are included: one of the example above, and one that will work for dash themes on desktop without too much editing. it will require some messing with it to get it to look good on mobile. feel free to get creative with how you use this, but personal use only, please! i encourage you to change colors and images and fonts–– everything to suit your own purpose! hopefully the template is fairly straightforward because everything is labeled, but knowledge of how to use clipping masks and how to make a png of your character is needed. all of the zodiac sign symbols are included, and all you have to do is toggle visibility.
DETAILS
* fonts used: alegreya Sans, vallena * coloring on the png is by me and included in the download. change as needed! * please do not steal, copy, or use this template commercially. * see here for full rules. * please credit me if you use this by @ ing or linking to my tumblr or my payhip. * customize it to your heart’s content, so long as you still credit me. * feel free to send me a link to anything you make with this! * don’t hesitate to message me with any questions or problems you run into.
🌻 download for free on payhip!

I wanted to make a redux of Julia's playlist! It has a few songs that weren't on the original, and it has now been separated into categories based on, er ... personality facets? Tone? Something like that.
Also I made a header image that I got completely carried away with. Content warning for vulgar language, violent language, and excessive alcohol and/or drug use in quite a few of these songs. Just in case!

STAR TREK MASTERPOST
hi my name is liz and i'm watching the entirety of star trek in release order, so this post was SIGH inevitable. i will edit with updates it as i make more
FANFIC
Gambler's Knife - AOS, Spirk, 22k. Twelve years after Tarsus IV and three months after dying to realign the warp core and save his ship, Jim Kirk seems to have a new lease on life: he's been resurrected, started pursuing a tentative new relationship with Spock, and has an entire five-year mission ahead of him. That is, until the attempted murder of an old friend forces him to divert the Enterprise away from her intended course and towards Planet Q. After a chance encounter on the planet's surface, new secrets about Jim's time on Tarsus IV come to light—secrets that threaten to destroy everyone he fought to protect, and the new life he's finally achieved. Some things you carry with you wherever you go.
SKIP/WATCH LIST
as i watch star trek, i am making an incredibly detailed spreadsheet which aims to guide new people into what to watch...or what not to watch. this list includes every single movie and tv series (including the animated ones), multiple watch orders (release order vs chronological order), runtimes, content warnings, and indicators on which characters feature in which episodes + indicators on which episodes are important for continuity. the only catch is i am updating it as i go, so it's a verrry slow work in progress. i've also still got a few blanks in the tos bit.
currently the only tumblr post with a link is this one, but i'll make a better post once i've finished going back and filling in the blanks on the tos section.
SPOCKANALIA DIGITIZATION
@maulthots and i are working on digitizing all 5 volumes of SPOCKANALIA - retyping text, cleaning up images, and adding alt text. they'll be added here as we complete them.
Volume 1
EPISODE REWRITES
sometimes star trek makes me crazy and i wanna fix it, but i don't have the time or patience to rewrite it in fic form so we get tumblr posts instead. they are in the order that i did them. right now there are only a few but i want to do like a thousand
[tos] the motion picture
[tos] the tholian web
[tng] violations
META
these are mostly small posts for now. someday i might make big ones.
marrying a vulcan is not unlike being a horsegirl
tos kirk vs aos kirk on retirement and the infinity of the universe
tos spock vs aos spock on love and death being real
tos spock vs aos spock on becoming close to one parent but remaining forever separated from the other
kirk and bones react differenly to spock showing emotion
CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE SPACE BABES - kirk's encounters with women are often nonconsensual (collaboration with @maulthots)
funniest possible pre-mcspirk situation in aos
aos plot devices we could have had
small post about vulcans getting drunk on chocolate the first time
GRAPHICS
most of these are shitposts.
spock in shades for my header
"then perish" tas bones meme
spones graphic for wrath of khan/search for spock
CLIPS
i make clip shows sometimes.
bones being possessed in search for spock
tos scenes that remind me of tarsus iv
kirk insults spock for a minute and a half
kirk reacting to spock's emotions vs bones reacting to spock's emotions

i got hyped and changed my blog header image to the gif you made of brother day spitting blood in bel rios's face and then realized i should have asked first! is it alright if I use that gif as my blog header? if it is ill credit you in my bio, and if it's not ill change it. regardless, thanks for making great foundation gif sets!
aww thank you so much, and don't worry about it, getting carried away in this case is completely understandable fhfhshsh. unless my gifs are being reposted i don't really require a credit. i mean it's welcome but not necessary, but thank you for asking!
anyway, since i still have the screencaps and the psd i resized the gif so it would fit better as a header. everyone feel free to use it if you like!

Letters to Dean.
Part 12.
**This one will mainly be in Dean’s POV - it will be noted otherwise. Additional photos are included below, they’re just close ups of the materials in the header image.**
After the whole beer thing, y/n had slid the letters towards me, giving silent approval for me to read them, then she mentioned something about needing time to process everything as she headed towards where Sam was entertaining Nora. I looked at the stack of letters. 5 years of letter sat there, neatly tied together with some twine.
“I’m sensing some nervousness, Dean she wouldn’t have left them for you if she didn’t want you to read them. So it is my suggestion that you just get to it.” Cas said.
I don’t think he realizes that it isn’t that simple, these letters would express years of emotions that y/s hadn’t been able to release...I would have to read through the pain and heartache that I had caused her. I looked up to where Cas had been standing, only to see the entryway was vacant. Given my silence he must have thought I needed time.
Truth be told I didn’t know what I needed. It was finally hitting me what y/n had said to me…we had this amazing daughter together…but I had missed it. I had missed so much of their lives, so many milestones and for what? Because I had convinced myself that she would be safer not knowing about all of this. I keep doing this to myself and it has never hurt as much as it does right now. I won’t shut her out again. I won’t lose her and Nora again.
I looked back to the stack of letters, picked it up and went to my room. I sat at the end of the bed and carefully untied the twine, turning over the first letter. This is it. Upon opening the letter I found a photo…it was from the ultrasound, when Nora was just a blip on a screen.
I found myself getting lost in these letters, finding more images of Nora as she got older. The pain behind y/n’s words changing from that of an ex lover to those of a single mother.
I couldn’t help but tear up as I read about Nora having asked about me. I know that she new about me based on what y/n had told me, but it’s hard to hear that she wanted to know why her dad wasn’t around. I would do everything in my power to make sure she never feels that way again.
I needed to convince y/n that I wanted us to be a family...it would be hard given everything and I would have to work on this need I had to push people away in order to keep them safe. I should know by now that that isn’t the best solution.
I think that I will write y/n a letter, she wrote me so many to express herself, I think I could write one to her to explain myself.
I walked over to my desk, and decided that before I wrote the letter, I would put up the photo’s of Nora. I taped them up one by one until I came to the most recent one. Nora is standing in this clearing in the woods looking off in the distance. I took this photo and placed it in my wallet. I would carry her with me...it wouldn’t make up for the time I have lost, but It would allow me to feel closer to her.

i feel like it may be worth just rambling about my website and what things id like to do with it in terms of rehauling the look. i am always the type to say "no, this will stay in my brain until i know for sure what i want to do". but that often means fleeting ideas dont stick and not talking about it makes it hard to properly envision
my website kind of got a solid look mid-early last year after i learned more html formatting and i quite like it- a landing page, a home page, and a few spin off pages (project site and coffini outlet). i didnt feel like i acheived what i wanted to emulate out of the old web though- making the page feel like a proper "home" or diving into my own personal world.
i mostly considered the first solid design to be temporary as i figure out what i wanted to do with a theme that felt more homey, but that didnt happen for a variety of reasons.
the main struggle out of all of it is actually making the assets. there is a lot of ways i could tackle the "old internet" look with assets. low quality jpegs? pixel art? low poly 3d gifs? many other things i am not experienced with making either- and the aesthetic i think i would go for most is pixel art. and even outside of the style is just SO much stuff to make. i gotta make the background? the containers? the buttons? the borders? scroll bar? and every other little decoration!! it is overwhelming especially when i dont even know if i can make it all myself in a way i like because i havent done much pixel art.
in terms of what i want to do though (lets not forget i am writing this to also remind myself what i want to do) outside of my annoyance for procrastinating- i want to rework my landing page to be cuter and more themed. everything to be more themed. obviously i lean a lot on space aesthetics, and would certainly want the landing page to be about that. either something like, a spaceship gif and the puffs of smoke linking to the homepage/etc. or a solar system. home page, i still want to be similar layout as to keep it easy to navigate... but id want to carry that look very heavily still. want think giving the containers a sort of mechanical sci-fi look would be neat, like youre inside a ship. or maybe make it look like holographic screens (id want to try and keep my light color text on a dark background look). for coffini outlet, i want to make all the graphic myself and probably alter the layout a bit? but not too much, as i think this one is ideal for reading still. so really, just a more original header image. for my project page? i quite like it as is, i made it more recently with some help of a template.
so those are the thoughts i have. aside from the aesthetics i know i really want to improve on my code in terms of making it semi workable on phones but also way more usable on different window size.... currently this is a big problem still on some pages:
improving the technical side of the website is important and i think my meds working will help me focus on that a bit more in terms of...learning how to lol. and i do want to sit down and learn properly about the aesthetic parts i feel i dont have the skills for too- ive kind of put a lot of that onthe backburner with all the fan art i have gotten into as well and i feel like i want to pull away from it just a tad in order to focus on original things.

AKJHDKFKSD FINALLY
just the header already took me OUT✋🏻🫠
I know this will be the death of me, buff George can get it
You frowned at the boy in the armchair, who looked like the last thing he wanted to do was to share. “Am I supposed to fight you for them or something?”
that is so funny to imagine help
“What's going on with you and George?” This was definitely odd. “It feels like you've gone past teasing, you're almost flirting with each other.”
whaaaaat? I have no idea what you mean🙈
Her eyebrow quirked up at that. “You have a type?”
fuck yes I do👀
Lucy nodded. “Interesting.” It was spoken with the air of someone who knew exactly why it was interesting and someone who was absolutely not going to explain why.
the glee she must be feeling in that moment asgfsjfghkl
Just trying to hoist them up to make sure you'd oiled all the way round each joint was a workout.
god that sounds so tedious
someone cute and buff better come rescue me soon🤭
He chuckled, climbing down the final few steps and holding out his hand. “Will the sacred pact allow a lunch break? I made soup.
Ah! convenient😉
There were two steaming bowls already set out on the table when you got back to the kitchen, and beside yours was a plate of sandwiches, cut exactly how you liked them.
I need him to cook for me oh my god
Your eyes widened as he scooped up a whole length in one easy movement and gave them a quick shake loose.
🫠🫠🫠🫠🫠🫠🫠🫠🫠
You raised your fist higher, leaning forward in an offered challenge. “Right. Arm wrestle. Loser goes.”
the fuck am I thinking even if he wasnt buff at all I'd very probably lose😭
You weren't sure why you'd expected the easy, flexible grip of holding a rapier, but his fingers were clenched firmly around the back of your hand.
yeah that's just about enough to make me lose instantly🫠
You stared in shock at the boy opposite, the triumphant toothy grin that crinkled his eyes, the unexpected tightness of his shirt sleeve around his arm. The similar tightness in your chest.
sdhksdhakhd
You drew in a shaky breath as you struggled to drag your eyes away from George's arm, which was still pinning yours to the table. After a moment, you felt his fingers loosen and with some reluctance pulled your hand away. The silence in the room was palpable.
screaming, crying, throwing up OMFG
A flash of bicep clouded your vision again, and you reached for the door handle before you did something regrettable.
me fr
George moved closer, and you swallowed a lump in your throat. “I was actually going to question why you looked like you were about to leave without a coat.” He reached to the rack over your shoulder, lifting yours from its hook.
I'm just gonna pass out right there if you don't mind
“Well, I uh… I ran you a bath to warm you back up. I'll put this away.” He hauled up the bags of shopping with barely a huff, and you tried to reason that he hadn't just carried them through a storm.
12/10 on the attractiveness scale AHHHH
He wasn't like George though - smart, funny, thoughtful George.
Still didn't mean you fancied him, you told yourself.
the denial is stroooong😩🤭 just the way we love it
You'd chat or enjoy the companionable quiet, you'd both be at ease; nothing could possibly happen, which would give you time to prove your feelings were a fluke.
sure thing, I'm certain that will work
The sound died in your throat when he took off his gloves, draped them on the side of the sink and rolled his sleeves up out of the way.
I don't even kow what to do with that image HELP
You wondered whether it was just his arms that were so toned, or was the rest of him the same? Was he hiding a set of abs under that T-shirt too? Were his thighs-
The sincerity in his voice caught you off guard, as did his deep brown eyes as he raised his head to look at you. You were already distracted by the tension which lingered in his shoulders, the rigidity of his arms as they supported his weight, the way he had leaned into the pose so much that now when he looked up his face was so close it almost filled your vision.
no words, just 🫠🫠🫠🫠🫠🫠
The silence that followed dragged on longer than you could bear. Why wasn't she saying anything? You forced yourself to sit up. George stood at the entrance to your room, eyes wide and lips parted.
adskjdhkdhkjshksd ACCIDENTAL CONFESSION FUCK YES
There was no mistaking it: he'd heard you basically say you loved him and now there he was looking like the mere concept was so unbelievable, like the option hadn't even crossed his mind. Why would it?
ALKFLISHDF i am not functioning anymoreee
George stepped closer, and you shrunk even further into yourself. Your heart skipped a beat when he gently tilted your chin up to meet his surprisingly soft gaze. “I meant, why do you think I don't love you back?”
🚨CHIN TILT 🚨CHIN TILT 🚨CHIN TILT🚨
“Have you seen yourself?” Hesitantly, you raised a hand to his bicep, marvelling at finally being able to feel the muscle instead of just staring at it, and more amazed at the way the boy responded to your touch, drifting closer until you were barely inches apart.
You yelped in surprise as his other arm hooked under your legs and swept you off your feet, your arms flying up round his neck for support. His arm was tense across your back but he looked the most relaxed he'd been since he walked in, and he shifted you closer to press a quick kiss to your lips before setting you down on the bed and sitting beside you.
I think I have just died and gone to heaven
MERRY YOU KNOCKED THAT OUT OF THE PARK OUT OF THE UNIVERSE I LOVE YOU
Rock Paper Scissors
Pairings: George Karim x gn!reader, background Locklyle
Summary: George is your best friend, Lucy's convinced there's more to it but he's not your type... is he?

Ever since you'd started working for Lockwood & Co, you and George had had the most playful rivalry.
It had started on the very first day, when you came for your interview. Lucy had welcomed you into the living room while George went to fetch the biscuits. After breezing through the tests, Lockwood gestured to the plate still being clutched by the other boy.
“Biscuit?”
You frowned at the boy in the armchair, who looked like the last thing he wanted to do was to share. “Am I supposed to fight you for them or something?”
George had the audacity to snort. “In your dreams.” But then he did offer you the plate, albeit reluctantly.
Once you got used to one another, you found that you actually got on really well and gradually he became your best friend, but by then you'd set a precedent that neither of you wanted to drop.
“We're heading out soon,” Lucy informed you both as she slid cups of tea across the table. She and Lockwood had an appointment with a client, leaving you and George behind to keep working. “Can one of you oil the chains ready for tonight?”
You turned to George; he was already looking at you. A gleam came to his eye.
“Rock paper scissors?”
“You bet,” you grinned, already raising your hand. It took a few attempts, as you'd done it so many times by now that the two of you knew what each other was planning before it happened, but eventually you lost. Sticking your tongue out, you picked up your cup and headed towards the basement. Lucy followed you down.
“Can I ask you something?” she began cautiously.
“Course you can.” It wasn't like Lucy to not just ask straight out. This was odd.
“What's going on with you and George?” This was definitely odd. “It feels like you've gone past teasing, you're almost flirting with each other.”
Your gaze flew to your friend, who had lingered on the stairs. Was she being serious? “It's not like that, Luce,” you replied, wondering if it was warm in the basement or if it was just you. “I love him to bits, but the same way I love all of you. He's just not my type.”
Her eyebrow quirked up at that. “You have a type?”
“Don't say that like you don't,” you hit back. “You and Lockwood are made for each other! And George is great, really, but I prefer guys a bit more… buff?”
Lucy nodded. “Interesting.” It was spoken with the air of someone who knew exactly why it was interesting and someone who was absolutely not going to explain why. “Well… just don't rule anything out, but please be careful. I love you both too and I'd hate to see either of you get hurt.”
It was touching to hear her so candid about her feelings for you both. “I won't, I promise.”
—
You always forgot how ridiculously heavy the chains were. Just trying to hoist them up to make sure you'd oiled all the way round each joint was a workout. It was only adrenaline that carried you through working with them on cases. Thank goodness you were almost finished - your arms were beginning to ache and you were sure you were coated in sweat.
“Need a hand?” George's voice drifted from the stairs. You hadn't heard him come down, probably drowned out by the clanking links and your strained grunts, but there he was, sitting on one of the lower steps and watching you in amusement.
“You mean you want me to dishonour the sacred pact of rock paper scissors?” You mimed fainting in shock, taking the opportunity to slump back on the pile of chains and let the tension dissipate from your shoulders.
He chuckled, climbing down the final few steps and holding out his hand. “Will the sacred pact allow a lunch break? I made soup.” He'd got you there and he knew it. You loved his soup. Grinning, you accepted his hand and he pulled you away from the cold, hard metal.
There were two steaming bowls already set out on the table when you got back to the kitchen, and beside yours was a plate of sandwiches, cut exactly how you liked them.
“You're the best.”
“I know,” George smirked. He was eating with one hand, the other scribbling away on the Thinking Cloth. As he became more engrossed, he leant further forwards, his dark curls flopping over his brow. It was fascinating watching him get so engrossed in his work, the whole world melting away around him. Once you finished eating, you glanced across and took his empty bowl from in front of him. He looked up sharply, snapped from wherever his thoughts had taken him.
“Sorry, didn't mean to disturb you,” you mumbled.
“No, it's fine. We should probably get packed.”
You followed him down to the basement and pulled your kit bags from the shelf. Set side by side on the table, you both began to load up.
“You can carry the chains,” you told him over your shoulder as you picked up a half-empty box of flares and emptied it into your bag.
“Hey, you're the one who lost!”
“Only for cleaning them, I've done my bit.”
He huffed, but gave you a smile as he made his way over to the mound of chains. Your eyes widened as he scooped up a whole length in one easy movement and gave them a quick shake loose. You'd spent nearly quarter of an hour trying to manoeuvre that section earlier.
“How the hell did you do that?”
“They're not that heavy,” he shrugged, then added with a cheeky raised eyebrow, “or at least only when you’re trying to clean them.”
You threw the empty cardboard box at his head with a laugh.
—
A week later, the four of you were nestled in the living room. Outside, rain battered against the windows, which were almost being shaken out of their frames by the driving wind. You'd never have guessed it was June; it felt more like January. The fire was lit in the hearth, the occasional crackle of wood splitting the only other sound.
Eventually, Lockwood broke the silence. “I hate to say it, but someone's going to have to go out. We've got no tea left and barely enough food to last until tonight. We can draw straws to make it fair.”
He needn't have bothered. You and George already had your fists raised. One, two, three, paper. One, two, three, rock. Scissors. Paper. Scissors. Rock. Round and round you went, the symmetry only fuelling your competitive natures.
“This is ridiculous,” Lucy muttered. She was right, of course.
You raised your fist higher, leaning forward in an offered challenge. “Right. Arm wrestle. Loser goes.”
George leaned in, resting his elbow on the table. Lockwood and Lucy exchanged wide-eyed glances.
“Y/n…” Lucy began, but you weren't listening. Your elbow was already mirroring George's, hand in his. You weren't sure why you'd expected the easy, flexible grip of holding a rapier, but his fingers were clenched firmly around the back of your hand. Lockwood moved closer and counted you down.
Your hand hit the table almost immediately.
It felt like all the air had left the room. You stared in shock at the boy opposite, the triumphant toothy grin that crinkled his eyes, the unexpected tightness of his shirt sleeve around his arm. The similar tightness in your chest. Interesting.
Some sort of realisation hit you, and your attention shifted to Lucy. The look she was giving you was almost as satisfied as George's. Warmth flooded your cheeks. You drew in a shaky breath as you struggled to drag your eyes away from George's arm, which was still pinning yours to the table. After a moment, you felt his fingers loosen and with some reluctance pulled your hand away. The silence in the room was palpable. Lucy was still watching you in amusement. Lockwood was watching Lucy, trying to figure out why she had that “I know something you don't” look again over a simple arm wrestle. George was watching you too, his expression slowly shifting from victory to concern.
“Y/n? You okay?” he asked quietly. Your thoughts rushed back into your body, snapping your attention into the real world.
“All good,” you mumbled. “Just preparing to get drenched. If I'm not back in 20 minutes, assume I've been blown to the other end of the country.” At least that got a laugh out of Lockwood. Hurriedly, you stood and made your way to the front door. Why had you agreed to this? It was your own fault, of course, for continuing this whole competitive thing with George, but how were you to know he was that strong? A flash of bicep clouded your vision again, and you reached for the door handle before you did something regrettable.
“Hold on,” a voice came behind you. It was him. Keep it together, you told yourself.
“If you're about to volunteer to take my place, go ahead,” you forced yourself to stay casual.
George moved closer, and you swallowed a lump in your throat. “I was actually going to question why you looked like you were about to leave without a coat.” He reached to the rack over your shoulder, lifting yours from its hook.
“That might help.” You knew you were blushing again, but prayed he thought it was just from embarrassment at being so forgetful. Definitely not how close he was, how he was holding your coat in the same hand that had been holding yours moments ago.
—
By the time you made it back to the house, you were soaked to the bone and almost shivering. It seemed like the storm wasn't going to let up until at least the next day, so you'd decided to stock up on plenty of food which had seemed like a great idea until you tried to carry it all home. You'd had to stop several times on the way, ducking into doorways and bus shelters to escape the weather as you swapped hands, flexed your shoulders or relieved your fingers from where the handles of the bags had started to make dents. When you finally made it, you held the door open with one foot as you negotiated the bags in and dropped them unceremoniously on the hall floor. George emerged from the living room, alone this time; Lockwood and Lucy must have gone upstairs or down to the basement.
“You look awful.”
“Aww thanks, you're not so bad yourself,” you joked dryly. Oh god, Lucy was right, you were almost flirting. A shiver ran through you and this time you hoped it was from the cold.
For a second, you thought you saw George's eyelids flutter. “Well, I uh… I ran you a bath to warm you back up. I'll put this away.” He hauled up the bags of shopping with barely a huff, and you tried to reason that he hadn't just carried them through a storm.
The water was soothingly warm and scented with lavender salts, the smell wafting up in delicate bursts as it swirled around, relaxing all the tension in your aching muscles. As you lay peacefully, you reflected on what had happened earlier. You weren't sure you'd ever felt… You couldn't even identify what feelings you'd experienced during the arm wrestle. Shock? Embarrassment? No. It was something else, something that Lucy had noticed immediately and had been trying to get through to your oblivious self. But she was wrong, wasn't she? You said it yourself, you weren't into George, even if he did now fulfil your main criteria. Then again, so did plenty of other guys you'd met. Kipps was quite well built, definitely had muscles, but that didn't mean you'd considered dating him. He wasn't like George though - smart, funny, thoughtful George. You couldn't imagine Kipps running you a bath or making your favourite lunch, or doing any number of the things that with George felt so natural. And there were all the little things you did for him that you'd never do for anyone else. No, there were no two ways about it: you were a pair in whatever capacity that meant.
Still didn't mean you fancied him, you told yourself.
You volunteered to help George with the dishes after dinner that night. It was always nice to be able to spend time just the two of you in sync, but tonight especially you figured it was a good idea to be around him in perfectly normal circumstances. You'd chat or enjoy the companionable quiet, you'd both be at ease; nothing could possibly happen, which would give you time to prove your feelings were a fluke.
George picked up his blue rubber gloves and tossed you a tea towel. He was dressed casually, in sweatpants and an oversized T-shirt (so large that the sleeves almost met his gloves at the elbow). The radio was playing quietly in the background, giving you a welcome distraction. Whenever a song you recognised came on, you'd start humming along or singing under your breath, and George would smile at you, sometimes even joining in. Your heart leapt a bit when he did, but that was nothing, you were just happy to be sharing this moment with your friend. He stuck an arm deeper into the sink to grab something at the bottom and made a small noise. Water had splashed up onto the cuff of his sleeve. You giggled at the look of disgust he made at the wet fabric sticking to his skin. The sound died in your throat when he took off his gloves, draped them on the side of the sink and rolled his sleeves up out of the way. You were so used to him being hidden behind his giant tops, or at the very least being in longer sleeved shirts, that seeing his bicep completely exposed was a shock in more ways than one. It wasn't much wonder he'd beaten you so easily at arm wrestling with muscles like that. You wondered whether it was just his arms that were so toned, or was the rest of him the same? Was he hiding a set of abs under that T-shirt too? Were his thighs-
“You okay?” George nudged you, and you hastily looked away.
“I was just…” Come on, come on, find an excuse, your brain urged. “...thinking how this means we both got wet clothes today, if you want me to put that top in with my washing after this?” God that was lame. Not much wonder he wasn't interested in you. That wasn't the point, you reminded yourself.
“Oh,” he smiled. “That'd be great, thanks.” He leant over to put a chopping board on the draining rack, and his bicep brushed against yours. A shockwave of warmth resonated through your whole body. Oh.
“Tell you what,” you forced yourself not to stammer, “are you okay to finish up here and I'll go and grab the laundry basket?” He nodded, and you tried not to fall over your own feet as you retreated to the hallway and sucked in a breath to calm your racing heart. Oh.
—
You cursed yourself for ever starting this. No, this was Lucy's fault for pointing it out. No, still your fault.
Being around George was becoming unbearable. Not for anything he'd done, rather the things he wasn't doing. He was carrying on exactly as he always had, that inimitable blend of playful and caring, and it was driving you mad not knowing whether he meant any of it in the way you wanted him to. You couldn't say anything, of course. If you were wrong, it would mess up the whole dynamic of the group. That would hurt almost as much as any rejection. But the more things went on, the more you took notice of the little moments between you, the more your feelings grew until it felt like they would crawl out of your chest.
“What the hell were you thinking?” George snapped at Lockwood. He and Lucy had been out on a case which went badly, and now the four of you were sitting at the dining table in the early hours, George applying butterfly stitches to a cut on Lockwood's arm and you cleaning a couple of scratches on Lucy's face. The misty gloom of the night outside the window reflected the atmosphere within.
“I was thinking,” Lockwood snapped back, “that we only had to handle a couple of Type Ones, according to your notes.”
“I told you those weren't finished!”
“Well maybe next time, don't get distracted.” Was it your imagination, or had his gaze flickered to you?
“Maybe next time,” George replied darkly, “do your own research.”
“Fine.” Lockwood pushed his chair back and stalked from the room. Lucy shot you both an apologetic grimace and followed.
George began pacing round the kitchen, hands twitching angrily. You stayed at the table, knowing it was best to give him the space to say or do whatever he needed to let his feelings out. You were there if he needed you.
“Can you believe him?” It was rhetorical, you'd heard him say it enough to know, so you waited for him to continue. “We end up in this situation almost every week, because he's too reckless to wait! I know he'd rather be in the action, but he'd be able to do all that more if he'd let me give him the right information first.”
You gently waded in, trying to be reassuring. “We all know how useful your research is; he just gets overeager, especially when Lucy's involved.”
“I know you know how important it is,” his words sent butterflies through you, “but Lockwood just…” He gave a frustrated huff. “Maybe I should make him do all the legwork for a change.” You tried very hard not to think about whether George's legs were as muscular as his arms.
“I'll support whatever you decide, but for what it's worth I think you should just talk to him.”
He sighed heavily, placing his hands flat on the table and allowing his head to drop. “You're right. Thanks, y/n.” The sincerity in his voice caught you off guard, as did his deep brown eyes as he raised his head to look at you. You were already distracted by the tension which lingered in his shoulders, the rigidity of his arms as they supported his weight, the way he had leaned into the pose so much that now when he looked up his face was so close it almost filled your vision. You swallowed nervously.
“Any time. I- I have to go.” You stumbled up from your chair, ignoring George's confused stare and sounds of protest as you practically bolted from the room.
—
You lay on your bed in the attic, tears slowly soaking into the pillow you'd buried your face in. This was the end; it had to be. You couldn't carry on working for the agency like this. If George had shown any interest it would be okay - Lockwood and Lucy managed to balance being a couple who worked and lived together, there was no reason you two couldn't do the same, but it could never work being so one-sided. You'd just keep being weird, struggling to hold your nerve around the boy until it would start bleeding into cases and Lockwood would have no choice but to fire you for everyone's safety, if you hadn't already got one of you hurt by then. Not to mention the emotional hurt. It would happen either way, but at least if you walked away now you could control it.
“Y/n?” Lucy's voice came tentatively from the bottom of the steps. “George said you ran off, is everything okay?”
You flipped onto your back, drawing in shuddering breaths to recover from almost suffocating in the pillow. “You were right, Luce.” There was movement on the steps, but you kept your eyes on the ceiling. You couldn't bear to look at anyone right now. “I tried so hard to make sure neither of us got hurt, but George doesn't love me back and now I feel like even if I stay I'm going to lose him.”
The silence that followed dragged on longer than you could bear. Why wasn't she saying anything? You forced yourself to sit up.
George stood at the entrance to your room, eyes wide and lips parted.
You scrambled to your feet. “Shit! I mean, hi, um… how long have you been there?”
George continued to stare.
“I'm so sorry,” the words were rushing out of you now, “I just panicked but I don't want to make things weird so can we just pretend-”
“What do you mean, ‘doesn't love me back'?” he interrupted quietly.
You froze. There was no mistaking it: he'd heard you basically say you loved him and now there he was looking like the mere concept was so unbelievable, like the option hadn't even crossed his mind. Why would it? Time stretched on as you fought the urge to run again, as far as the ever-widening space between you would allow. Neither of you had moved, but you could feel the room expanding around you to make room for the bottomless pit you wanted to crawl into. “I…” you drew in a slow, deep breath, “I was fine just being friends but Lucy got in my head about you being exactly my type and now I think I'm actually flirting while you're still just pretending and I'm sorry…” Tears were pricking at the corners of your eyes and you hurriedly looked away, hoping he wouldn't see.
George stepped closer, and you shrunk even further into yourself. Your heart skipped a beat when he gently tilted your chin up to meet his surprisingly soft gaze. “I meant, why do you think I don't love you back?”
You faltered. Was he saying what you thought he was? “Well, I mean, I thought I'd made things super obvious and awkward but you didn't change so I thought you weren't interested.”
George's hand was still on your chin and his thumb rubbed soothingly across your cheek, wiping away the single tear that had spilled. “I thought you weren't interested! You normally go for those muscly gym guys so I figured I'd take whatever I could get with the arm wrestles and stuff, but then you started avoiding me so I thought you were done with it.”
A small laugh escaped you, and he looked at you in confusion. “Have you seen yourself?” Hesitantly, you raised a hand to his bicep, marvelling at finally being able to feel the muscle instead of just staring at it, and more amazed at the way the boy responded to your touch, drifting closer until you were barely inches apart.
“So then why did you run?” His voice was whisper soft against your face, eyes gazing down at you with an overwhelming blend of sincerity, bewilderment and something like longing. His cheeks were tinted as pink as you knew yours were.
“Got flustered.”
“Flustered? You? I don't believe you.” A smile tugged at the edge of his lips, the playfulness you were used to creeping back into his voice. It was such a relief to feel the tension dissipating from the room, to have your George back, that you buried your head in his shoulder with a giggle. He laughed too, wrapping an arm around your waist. “Oh, I see, you really want to do this? Okay, let's see ‘flustered y/n’ at their best.”
“Lucy's going to be very smug about this, you know,” he nudged you.
“I know,” you whined, burying your face in your hands. “Rock paper scissors for who has to tell her.” George laughed again and placed his arm around your shoulder, pulling you closer as you leant into the embrace.
“Is this just a ploy to get more hugs?”
“Is it working?”
In response, he brought his other arm around your waist and kissed your forehead. You smiled, leaning up to kiss him properly, and he reciprocated eagerly.
—
Lucy had left George alone on the steps to your room once you started your confession, giving you both a bit of privacy, and decided when he didn't come back downstairs immediately that things had either gone very badly or very well. She believed, and hoped, that it was the latter. Her suspicions were confirmed when she came to tell you she'd made breakfast and found you fast asleep, wrapped in George's arms.

Having fun at Disneyland with Riddle, Azul, Kalim, & Vil from Twisted Wonderland :DD
Header’s image from Hong Kong’s Disneyland Park(not the setting of this writing-)
{Headcanons/Scenarios}
Gender Neutral! Y/N
Note// No one requested this but I suddenly got this idea when I saw a video of Disneyland’s Evil Queen being iconic for 11 minutes straight or something,,,, X’D (never went to Disneyland btw, this writing is based on research so no need for corrections as I have no specific clues how is like in there,,, 😔✌️)
___
“So you’re saying… Actors who have their faces covered with the character heads cannot speak? Like those mascots???”
But hey, no one can act in character as Queen of Hearts as original looking as the real one!
Riddle didn’t took much interest in the actor, knowing that they’re not the real crimson tyrant he looks up to.
Yet, he gushes a little by how the silent actor treats babies and children- there’s some character even though the actor cannot speak.
Like how they shoos the nearest people away to make a path as she approaches a baby’s carriage, kneels in front of it, boops the baby’s nose and then combs him a little with a tiny brush….
People around the scene were gushing too-
Riddle is, overall, low-key impressed by the structure of the amusement park.
Depending on his mood, he wouldn't mind climbing on one of the giant teacups with you, he low-key finds them very cute.
Might end up reciting the 810 rules in front of the audience(who might either get so impressed or think that he is one of the Disneyland actors who memorized the rules-)
If he wears his Heartslabyul outfit during the trip(if you have the audacity to force him to wear it), people think he's just a child cosplaying-(he might internally scream with anger)
Idk, but it would be freaking cute to see curious children surrounding Riddle and asking if he was a Prince of Hearts by his outfit lol-
“How ironic and out of character, my rose… The Queen of Hearts is not a very silent person after all…”
___
"How unfortunate..."
Kinda upset about the fact that Ursula’s actor doesn’t wonder around the park like the other Disney villains. Ursula’s imitations only appear in parades, attractions, and limited performances(?).
Cheer him up that there’s at least a 2022 movie dedicated for Ursula!
Azul will be speechless if you show him a post about an old animatronic Ursula’ head falling off an attraction ride-
“Off with your head, they said”- probably Ace (who’s going to get hunted by Azul and the Leech twins afterwards-)
Literally the one who spoils you with luxurious items and hotel rooms-
Before choosing which Disneyland to go(since there's like many-), he did a broad research and accidentally stumbled on fun facts about the fun place.
"There's also a jail for naughty guests and tourists... Actual school for Disneyland actors... And hidden mechanisms that vacuum trash from the floor around the entire park every few minutes...? Impressive... No wonder it is called a world full of wonders by many."
___
“Actors who wear costume heads… cannot speak???”
At least Kalim is having so much fun with the attractions and the rides… plus the food.
Jamil has to be there as his supervisor so he doesn't get into trouble during the trip.
Whenever Jafar passes by, Kalim just keeps turning to face him and looks at him quietly until the character’s figure vanishes from the sight for a while.
Then, he tells you that he wants to take another picture with the actor-
When he saw Jafar’s actor looking longingly at the balloons the staff was carrying out from a storage room, he proceeded to buy many balloons and give them to him and more for you-
Once he meets the Beast and Bella at the banquet, he may or may not jump up in front of the beast and pull him into happy dances out of excitement.(Bella's actor nearly lost character x'3)
Total sweetheart for the entire trip at least,,,
“Aww…. I was so eager to see how that person who dresses as the magnificent Jafar voice act!!!”
___
“I’m… Quite impressed. That magicless human does take the Beautiful Queen’s paper very seriously… As it seems.”
*looks at the costumes and dresses in a judging manner*
*ends up asking the staff about wanting to talk to the souvenir shop manager-*
Please stop him if you have the guts,,,-
Don't expect him to get on extreme, rough attractions. He doesn't want to ruin his hair afterall-
The only attractions you can climb on with him are the ones who are museums, tour guides, theaters, or slow rides.
He is kind of there in the trip because it was your wish you wanted to do for vacation- and he couldn't say no to you bc he can't get mad at you potatoes,,, (*´ω`*)
{Beautiful Queen passing by}
Beautiful Queen to Vil// Lovely… Lovely purple~!
Vil// My… Thank you.
___
youtube
Note// Also I recommend you to watch this is so freaking funny- 🤣🤣🤣

By the end of the workday, it had completely slipped Yoongi's mind to actually speak to Mika about boundaries. He was so exhausted with paperwork and last-second meetings that he almost forgot she had come to work with him. In fact, he only remembered when he passed by Taehyung's office to say good evening and saw her curled up on the spare chair asleep, Jungkook was in a similar state on the floor, his head resting against the leg of the chair. Yoongi smiled softly at the sight before nodding in acknowledgment to his friend and carefully shaking the hybrid awake.
“Mika,” he whispered as her eyes fluttered open, “come on it’s time to go home.” A soft groan left her as she stretched before carefully sitting up. Mika yawned softly and rubbed at her eyes as she stood up and nodded. It was very clear that she was still half asleep and would likely pass out as soon as they got to the car, but first, she had to get there. As bad as he felt about waking her up, Yoongi couldn’t risk being seen carrying her around, it was unprofessional. Yoongi said a final goodnight to Taehyung before walking out of the office, slowing his pace so the tired girl behind him could follow. With the building being as large as it was he wouldn’t put it past her to wander off and get lost somehow and he didn’t want to deal with that. Thankfully that didn’t happen, and he only had to grab her hand once they were outside in order to keep her from wandering into the road. “Are you hungry?” he asked when they finally got to the car, “I don’t really have time to make anything but I can stop and grab us takeout on the way home.” A sleepy whine was the response he got as Mika curled up in the backseat.
“M’ not hungry,” she mumbled after a minute. Yoongi sighed and started the car, knowing that he would be getting her something anyway in case she changed her mind. As he pulled away from the company building Mika began to stir again which caused him to glance at her through the mirror. “Can we still cuddle when we get home?” she asked which caused Yoongi to stiffen. Oh right, now he remembered the conversation from earlier. In his rush to get her off of him before anyone saw he had promised her he would cuddle when they got home, but he was hoping she would have forgotten about that. It wasn’t that he didn’t like cuddles, he just liked his personal space and Mika seemed to test that every time she was within a few feet of him. That was not going to cut it in the future, especially if she wanted to keep coming to work with him. Still, she was clearly too tired to have that conversation right now so he would have to put it off for another time.
“We’ll see,” he replied in hopes she wouldn’t look too much into it, “go ahead and go back to sleep, I’ll wake you up when we get home.” The calico whined but did as she was told, leaning against the car door and closing her eyes. Yoongi sighed when he glanced back again to confirm that she was asleep before shaking his head and finishing the drive home. True to his word, he did stop at a takeout place a few blocks from their apartment to grab dinner for the both of them before finishing the drive home. Mikas he would just put in the fridge and reheat later that evening when she inevitably woke up. Yoongi was careful with closing the car door when he got out to make sure she wasn’t startled awake before rounding the car to the passenger’s side. Even when he opened the door and had to reach his hand out to keep her from falling out, she didn’t even flinch. For such a light sleeper, she did not want to wake up right now.
“You’ve got to be kidding me,” he muttered to himself, leaning down to grip her shoulder and try shaking her awake. “Mika,” he called, “come on Kitten, we’re home.” The catgirl stirred for a second, ears twitching slightly, but she still didn’t wake up. A groan left the businessman as he gave up, setting the takeout bag down on the floor of the car before unbuckling Mika and carefully pulling her into his arms. The sudden weight of the female caused him to grunt but she was light enough for him to carry without issue. Yoongi shifted so she was laying against his chest with one arm securely under her thighs as he grabbed the takeout bag with his now free hand. It was a bit of a challenge to balance everything he was carrying and he was worried he would drop something, or her, but he made his way up to his apartment as carefully and slowly as possible. His kind neighbor offering to carry the food to his place so he could focus on the catgirl was definitely a lifesaver as well.
Bowing his head to the woman who helped, he got the door open before taking the food from her and closing the door. Yoongi kicked off his shoes and placed the bag of food on the counter before walking to Mikas room. He laid her down and tucked her in softly before closing the door and walking back into the kitchen so he could have his dinner. The house was silent save for the sounds Yoongi was making as he shuffled around and ate. Mika was fast asleep in her room and he didn’t bother distracting himself with useless noise like the TV or his phone. He had a lot to think about and took advantage of the time to be alone with his thoughts. Normally this was the time he would use to think about work, any upcoming projects or meetings he had to think about but right now his mind was elsewhere.
He had known owning a hybrid would be tricky with his job, but he felt he was finally ready to take on that burden. Though now he was realizing that he never really considered how Mika would feel about the whole ordeal. Yoongi was always told that cats usually liked to keep to themselves and were independent, much like himself actually, but his cat definitely didn’t fit that description. All she ever wanted was Yoongi's attention and would sit there and pout about it when he didn’t have time to give it to her. At first her dependence on him was cute but at this point it was starting to get on his nerves a bit, she was acting like a child. Any time she was near him it was like they were suddenly strapped to magnets as she would latch onto him immediately and not let go until he pried her off or convinced her to leave him alone for a bit. Yeah he felt bad about disappointing her and sending her away but he didn’t understand why she needed to cling onto him every second. It wasn’t like he never gave her any attention, he didn’t mind cuddling every so often or letting her sit next to him while he worked, but there was a limit. Yoongi had a job to do and an image to keep up so he couldn’t stop what he was doing just because his hybrid needed attention. Not to mention he wasn’t always a touchy person to begin with, he didn’t mind affection in moderation but he also enjoyed his space.
At the same time though, Yoongi couldn’t help but feel a little bit guilty for his annoyance. He knew he couldn’t help his feelings but he couldn’t expect Mika to do so either. It wasn’t like she understood how important his work was and he hadn’t really found a way to explain it to her. She was a very sheltered kitten who still didn’t understand much about how things worked because she had never gotten the chance to experience them. Even now hybrids still didn’t have very much freedom and what they did get was up to their owners. He knew this and knew he didn’t have a reason to blame her for how she was acting, but that also meant he had to take the time to explain everything to her. Easier said than done since Yoongi wasn’t the best with words and Mika would probably end up confused until he figured out what to say. Not to mention the fact that she was sensitive and there was a chance anything he said would be taken the wrong way.
“Damn,” he hissed as he buried his head in his hands. Why did everything in his life have to be so complicated? Why couldn’t Hoseok have given him a handbook or something that would explain how to go about this without causing more issues? He had to figure this out soon though, since the pressure from all of this was going to steal his focus from his work matters. Yoongi really didn’t think he could afford to get distracted like this, not when so much was relying on him.
“Yoongi, are you okay?” Mikas soft voice snapped him out of his thoughts and he quickly turned to look at her. She was rubbing at her eyes and her fur was going all over the place which told him she had just woken up. He glanced down at his now cold food before looking back up at her and blinking softly, had he really been distracted for that long? It had only felt like a few minutes at most but a quick glance at the clock on the microwave told him that he had been lost in thought for at least a good 20 minutes. He sighed and shook his head before glancing back at his now concerned companion. Mikas' expression got more worried the longer he stared at her so he quickly cleared his throat and straightened up.
“I’m fine, just thinking,” he muttered as he stood up, “are you hungry? I have your food in the fridge so I can heat it up for you.” He was already moving to get the container out as he was talking so it was more of a statement than a question. Mika seemed to realize this as she quickly took a seat next to where his stuff was. From the corner of his eye Yoongi watched her fidget in her seat. It was clear that she had something on her mind that she wasn’t able to voice, or she was scared to. “What are you thinking about, hm?” he prompted, carefully pulling the now hot container from the microwave and stirring the contents around to make sure it was all warm before setting it down in front of the calico. Mika poked at it for a second, her ears folding back against her head before she hesitantly took a bite. Yoongi returned to his spot next to her, resting his elbow on the table and his chin on his palm as he glanced at her expectantly. She didn’t say anything at first, not even looking at him as her gaze was cast onto the bowl of rice and vegetables in front of her. It worried Yoongi a bit, thinking that something was wrong, but he bit his tongue and waited for her to answer.
“You,” the response was so quiet and so sudden that he almost didn’t hear it. Yoongi raised an eyebrow at her to see if he could prompt an explanation but she was still refusing to look at him.
“Me?” he asked once he realized she wasn’t going to answer, all Mika did was nod which made him sigh, “what about me?” Mika made a noise that was similar to a whine or sigh, pushing her food away with the end of her chopsticks before setting them aside.
“You changed,” she confessed, “ever since you started working again that’s all you ever do. You’re always busy and stressed and you never want to spend time with me anymore.” Just like that, the topic he had been trying to avoid had come back up and now there was no way for him to escape from it. Whatever luck he had was clearly not on his side at the moment because everything that he didn’t want to happen seemed to play out in front of him like a cursed film he couldn’t escape from. He had really hoped Mika wouldn’t notice anything and that he would have more time to think about how he wanted to approach her about the work discussion but clearly he had underestimated her. It was his own fault really for stalling and undermining how observant the girl could be but that didn’t make him feel at ease. Yoongi groaned a bit and moved to run his hands over his face, one moving up to tug at his hair as the other returned to rest on the table. The positions had switched as now Mika was the one looking at him expectantly and he refused to even glance in her direction. Well, he supposed there was no getting out of this, may as well bite the bullet and get it over with.
“Look Mika,” he started with a sigh, “it’s not that I’ve changed, I’ve always been like this but you’re not used to it. I have a very important job and I need to focus on that job so I’m very busy and that’s why I work all the time. If I didn’t then my business would be in a lot of trouble and I would lose a lot of money, we wouldn’t be able to live the way we do if that happened, does that make sense?” He finally turned to look at her but only got a head tilt in return, obviously she didn’t understand what he was saying and he had to fight the urge to roll his eyes. It felt like he was trying to explain these things to a toddler. “Think about it this way, you need money to buy things right?” he asked, to which she nodded, “so in order to get money I have to work. However, as I told you before, I am the boss of the company. That means that I am in charge of everyone and making sure that everything is going well which also means that I have more work to do than everyone else. If I don’t do the work then the company gets in a lot of trouble and we lose money. That’s why I have to work a lot and can’t spend a lot of time with you, does that make sense?” Mika stared at him for a moment like he was speaking an unknown language before slowly nodding. Part of Yoongi knew that she still didn’t fully understand but there was no use pushing the matter and confusing her more. Mika hummed softly and tapped at the table before looking back at Yoongi.
“Is that why you’re mean all the time? Because you work so much?” she asked the question so innocently and yet Yoongi felt the force of the words as if she had directly insulted him. In a way it was insulting, being called mean by someone so close to you, but he knew she didn’t mean it that way. Still, it took all his will power not to slam his head into the table.
“Why do you think I’m mean?” he asked, through slightly gritted teeth. Though he really hoped she couldn’t sense his annoyance or they would have another issue on their hands.
“You’re annoyed all the time,” Mika explained, “ever since you went back to work you’ve been really snappy and you push everyone away. You never show affection and you don’t seem to even want me around anymore. You keep pushing me away and I never get your attention.” She was whining by the end of her statement and Yoongi couldn’t help but feel his heart break at how sad she looked. It wasn’t like he was trying to push her away, though he supposed he could see why she would think that.
“I’m not mean Mika I just,” he paused for a moment to take a deep breath before he got riled up, “my work is very important okay? I also have an image I have to keep up as the leader. It would make me look bad if they saw me act all soft or get distracted because all my attention is on my hybrid right?” She nodded again, albeit a bit too quickly which was a giveaway that she was basically tuned out of this conversation. It was clear Mika was trying to understand but her emotions were getting the best of her so all she was hearing was excuses leading up to the fact Yoongi didn’t want her around. This was not the case at all but he was grasping at straws to figure out how to explain this to her, “You’re allowed to come to work with me still and all of that I don’t mind, but I just can’t have you latching onto me all the time. You don’t normally cuddle people in public, okay?”
“You don’t cuddle with me at home either!” Mika argued. This time he couldn’t help the audible groan that rumbled in the back of his throat, causing the female to shy away from him a bit.
“I just don’t like cuddling that much, I’m not a touchy or affectionate person,” he sounded much snappier than intended but there was no going back now. Mika physically deflated which made Yoongi sigh in response, this was not how he wanted his night to go.
“But that day at the shelter…” Mika whispered though Yoongi could pick up the sadness in her tone. It sounded like she was about to cry and now he wanted to end this conversation as soon as possible.
“Look Mika,” he snapped, “I’m just busy with work and don’t have a lot of time to spend cuddling and giving you attention so I’m sorry that upsets you but you’ll have to get used to it.” Before she could have a chance to react he stood up and made his way to his room without another word. The door slammed behind him and Yoongi huffed as he dropped onto his bed, not caring about wrinkling his suit at the moment. Honestly he just wanted this night to be over and hopefully in the morning this would all be a bad dream. He could hear Mika shuffling around outside of his door before she eventually went into her room, the soft clicking of the door echoing in his ears before the apartment went silent again. Yoongi knew that he had let his frustration get the best of him and Mika was probably beyond upset with him but he didn’t know what to do. He was too tired to try fixing it tonight but in the back of his mind he knew that he wouldn’t be able to focus tomorrow because he’d be worrying about her. Tomorrow was going to be hell he already knew, but he decided he would worry about it then instead of staying up all night stressing about it. Yoongi forced himself up so he could get ready for bed before curling up and staring at the ceiling for what felt like hours before he finally felt himself doze off.
Yoongi didn’t sleep much that night, if at all, tossing around and unable to clear his mind enough to fall asleep properly. Needless to say he was cursing his alarm when it started blaring in his ear two hours before he had to be at work. He got ready in silence, not hearing anything from Mikas room or outside so he assumed that she was probably still asleep. He considered waking her up and asking if she wanted to go to work with him again but the argument from the night before replayed in his mind and he hesitated. It wasn’t like they could just pretend nothing happened and Mika being at work with him may make things awkward. With these thoughts in mind he decided that it probably wasn’t the best idea and he would just have to talk everything out with her when he got home. That didn’t stop him from peaking into her room though to make sure she was okay. If he didn’t know her by now he probably would have lost her under the pile of blankets she had burrowed under, making him sigh as he carefully walked into the room. Mika was sensitive and he didn’t want to wake her, just check up on her before leaving. Once he got closer he could see her ears poking out ever so slightly which made him smile a bit, resting his hand on where he assumed her shoulder would be for a moment before quietly sneaking out of the room and making his way to work.
It was obvious from the moment he stepped foot in the office that something was wrong. He kept his gaze on the ground and refused to acknowledge anyone before locking himself in his office and burying himself in his work as he tried dealing with his thoughts. His own emotions were a mess of annoyance, frustration, and guilt as he tried to think about how the night would go when he had to face Mika. Everyone knew that he was off but the only one who was willing to confront him about it was Jin, the older not bothering to knock as he welcomed himself into Yoongi's office.
“Okay what happened?” he asked, closing the door and taking a seat. Yoongi huffed and didn’t even bother to look up at him, focusing intently on the contract in front of him.
“Good morning to you as well Mr. Kim,” Yoongi muttered, scribbling his signature at the bottom of the paper before setting it aside and grabbing another.
“Cut the formalities Yoongi,” Jin huffed, “no ones going to walk into the office right now you can drop the tough guy act.” Yoongi sighed and leaned back in his chair, finally looking up to meet the other gaze.
“What do you want? I’m busy,” he said flatly.
“Yeah so busy you read over the same paper three times since I walked in here,” Jin pointed out, “so are you going to tell your hyung what’s wrong with you or no?” The older male leaned back in his chair and crossed his arms as he mirrored Yoongi's expression, a telltale sign that he wasn’t planning on leaving until he got an answer he was satisfied with.
“What makes you think something’s wrong?” Yoongi blew him off as he returned his attention to the paper on his desk.
“You walked in without as much as a hello or nod, and you’re glaring at everything. Also given you came in alone when yesterday you had a calico cat clinging to you it’s obvious something happened.” Yoongi wanted to curse Jin for how observant he was, tapping his pen against his desk as he glanced up at him.
“There was a bit of a misunderstanding with Mika last night, that’s all,” he explained flatly.
“If you’re this worked up it has to be more than a simple misunderstanding,” Jin argued, “so tell me, what happened?” He leaned forward to rest his elbows on the desk and his chin on his hands as he looked at Yoongi expectantly.
“Why are you getting so involved in my personal life?” Yoongi whined, though they both knew there was no point answering that question. The two had been close since before Yoongi took over the company, Jin knew the younger better than Yoongi knew himself at times. With a defeated sigh, Yoongi pushed back in his chair and pinched the bridge of his nose, “She was upset that I wasn’t giving her enough attention and I got annoyed because she wasn’t respecting my work. I pretty much told her that I hate affection and that she needed to get used to that because I don’t have time to spend with her. That upset her and well here we are.” It was silent for a moment as Yoongi looked at Jin expectantly. Instead of a verbal reply though, the older leaned forward and flicked him hard on the forehead.
“Idiot, why would you say that!” Jin scolded, “Mika’s a kitten and still getting used to being with you of course she’s not going to understand your work right away!” Yoongi whined softly and rubbed at his head.
“I guess I deserve that,” he whispered as he fixed his hair.
“Yes you do!” Jin confirmed, “look Yoongi I know you get flustered with physical affection and you think your image means everything but things are changing and you are the one that needs to get used to that. You brought your new hybrid to work once and you expect her to understand all the rules right away? Do you realize how foolish that sounds? You need to be patient with her and calmly explain why you don’t like things and what you expect. Also public affection I can understand but don’t you dare say you don’t like affection because you and I both know that’s not true! What’s so wrong with letting her sit with you or cuddle against you when you guys are alone and you’re working? She’s not a dog hybrid so I’m positive she’ll stay still and let you work as long as you’re near her.” Yoongi wanted to argue, but he knew that Jin was right. He let his annoyance get the best of him and ended up saying everything wrong while trying to get his point across. Jin raised an eyebrow at him once the younger had been silent for more than a few minutes, further proving that there was no arguing his way out of this.
“Fine you’re right,” he confessed, “but what’s said is done so what am I supposed to do now?”
“Fix it!” Jin exclaimed, so loudly that Yoongi was worried someone outside would hear them. The male only rolled his eyes when told to quiet down though, “You are going to go home tonight, apologize to Mika for snapping at her, and calmly explain what you meant. Then you are going to work together to get to a point that's comfortable for both of you instead of dancing around until one of you is pushed over their limit.” Yoongi only nodded but Jin seemed to accept that as an answer, standing up and making his way to the door. “Oh and if I don’t see her here with you tomorrow I’m going to drag you back to your apartment to get her myself,” he warned before opening the door and making his way out, “have a good day Mr. Min.”
Yoongi bit his lip and threw his head back against his chair once the elder left, whatever leftover focus he had for work now gone as the conversation replayed in his mind. He hated that Jin was right, but he knew that he needed to follow his hyungs advice if he wanted to fix this. It was times like this that he really wished there was a guide book for how to deal with these situations but there wasn’t, he had to figure everything out on his own once again.
Yoongi ended up calling it an early day, rescheduling his later meetings knowing he wasn’t going to be able to focus and making his way home. The whole drive he was preparing himself for what he wanted to say and how Mika would react, praying that it would go easier than the previous night. Though his hope was quickly fading as he walked inside to find the apartment oddly quiet. He felt a knot in his throat as he took off his shoes and set his bag to the side of the door while calling out, “I’m home.” Yoongi waited a few minutes but didn’t hear any sign of Mika moving to greet him which made him sigh. Maybe she was just resting, but the thought of her avoiding him weighed heavy on his mind. “Mika?” he called out as he made his way through the apartment, checking her normal spots, “Kitten where are you?” He gently peeked into her room and almost sighed again when he saw her curled up in bed. She had a blanket wrapped around her small frame and her attention was on a cartoon she had decided to invest herself in. If she sensed his presence, she didn’t make it known as her focus stayed on the small TV set on her dresser.
“Mika,” he called softly, knocking on the door to get her attention. She didn’t jump, which told him she knew he had been there, simply turning her head to glance at him. Great, she was still upset with him so this was not going to be easy. “Can I talk to you real quick?” he asked, getting another nod in return. Yoongi hummed softly as he stepped into the room, taking a seat on the bed next to her and taking note of how she tensed up, “What are you watching?”
“Tobot,” she answered quietly, keeping her attention on the show. Yoongi took a deep breath and nodded as he glanced at the TV.
“Can we pause it for a minute? I need to talk to you about something so you can watch it more after.” She didn’t say anything so he took that as his cue to grab the remote and pause the show, forcing her attention onto him. “Look I need to talk to you about last night, I don’t think I said everything properly so I want to make sure you don’t misunderstand me,” he started, “I don’t mind your affection okay? I’m just not used to having someone constantly want my attention and that’s my fault not yours. I also understand you don’t like that I’m not always able to give you attention but my work is important and I need to get everything done before we can relax. We can’t be overly affectionate in public but if you let me get my work done then I promise I will make time where we can cuddle or go out and do whatever you want okay? Are you understanding?” Mika blinked up at him as she processed everything he just said, lowering her gaze back to the ground and shaking her head.
“I don’t get it,” she whimpered, “yesterday you said…”
“I know what I said yesterday but that’s not what I meant,” he cut her off, “focus on what I’m saying now.”
“So you do want affection?” Mika asked, clearly still confused.
“In moderation we can be affectionate okay? Just not when I’m working,” Yoongi clarified.
“You’re always working though,” she reminded, so I would never get your attention anyways.” Yoongi's lips pulled back into a straight line and he closed his eyes as he took a moment to compose his thoughts. He had to remind himself to be patient and not get annoyed again or this would get worse.
“Let’s make a deal then,” he said after he collected himself, “you accompany me and when I’m free to give you attention I will tell you okay? If you want something and I’m not too busy we can do that as well. However, if I tell you that I can’t do something because I’m busy, you have to listen and let me finish my work with no complaining, okay?” Mika was quiet for a while, looking at the paused cartoon and he could see her tail sway from under the blanket. “We need to communicate what we want so we don’t fight, I can give you what you want but you also have to give me what I want,” he explained further in hopes of lessening her confusion.
“Promise we can spend time together?” she asked after another moment, making Yoongi smile a bit.
“I promise,” he assured. That seemed to be enough for Mika as she smiled softly and nodded.
“Okay deal,” she agreed softly. Yoongi felt like a weight was lifted off his chest at those words, letting out a breath he didn’t know he was holding. Almost hesitantly, he reached out and patted her head softly, only lasting for a moment before she pulled away.
“Good,” he said, “I’ll let you go back to your show now. Dinner will be in a few hours but I’ll be in the living room if you need me before then.” With that he excused himself and left her alone, hearing the show start up again the second he closed the door. He huffed softly and ran his hand through his bleached hair as he walked to the living room, grabbing his laptop from his bag and settling on the couch. Yoongi knew there was still a long way to go for him and Mika to be fully comfortable with each other, especially after he lost his patience, but hopefully this was a start.

The Touch of an Angel - Feral!Andy Barclay x (Fem) Reader
Requested by @losersclubisms
( Luna and I have nicknamed this stage of Andy as Feral!Andy, so it stays in the title)
Header Image by @netrix-at-centric ( I’m using yours because it’s the only pic i found after some searching)
Masterlist
Word Count 1.2 K
Warnings: Canon divergences regarding season 2 ( Andy self isolates from the world as response to thinking Kyle is dead, ocassionally hunting down dolls as some sort of gatekeeper/container of the Chucky threat on a blindspot area)
Summary: Winter is coming as Andy rans out of excuses to accept your help. He finally allows you to take him home, where he finds his own personal heaven.
For as much as he tried to escape from it, Andy fell for you and the tenacious kindness making you come back to that cursed woodland searching for him. The self-inflicted exile was his last desperate attempt to protect the world from the danger that his participation in it carried for every person who had ever been in contact with him. Since direct involvement in the fighting had proven to be useless to save his loved ones from Chucky, there was nothing more left for him and he would have to pay with a miserable life of complete isolation. He was determined in his purpose, at least until he found you.
It all started on a camping trip with your friends. Your group discovered him and you were the only one who didn’t run away in fear. An instance of silent mutual contemplation ended with you trying to offer help, but his refusal left you out of choices. All you could do for him at that first opportunity was to give him your blanket, promising to come back. Using it that night was to him like sleeping in your embrace, because it was impregnated with your perfume from the recent use. From that simple kind contact with another human being he began to dream again and you feeded on those fantasies with every return. At first he would only allow himself to watch you, or share some vague words of thankfulness while receiving the simple gifts that you would bring him.
However, over the course of some months of frequent interactions trust increased in both sides and the situation transformed. He began to make you gifts in return from yours, to enjoy your company instead of following you from afar to make sure that nothing in his woods would attack you. He dreamed asleep and awake with the sight of your beautiful face, wondering what was making you come back.
You fell in love, your long walks in the woods together were the more atypical yet sweetest dates you ever had. He would take you to the places where he knew that the prettiest flowers were growing so he could pick some for you. There were other sections of the woods that he wouldn’t let you explore, the head of a red haired doll crushed on an improvised pike was the signaled limit that you knew you shouldn’t cross. As crazy as it sounded, you trusted that savage man more than your own instincts because that woodland was his home and you guessed he would know it better than anyone else. From what logic would dictate, it was normal to think that it could be the area where dangerous animals would live and hunt in. However, you got a tetric feeling about how the deepness of those woods could be the habitat of a dark creature that he was custodying.
Andy was a suffering man, but more than just mercy dragged you to him. Curiosity and a peculiar attraction that you couldn’t explain, but grew when you began to know him for real. There was a rustic charm on his rouge appearance that, combined with the incredible sweetness of his demeanor, would never fail in making you feel weak. You begged him countless times to let you take him home and he finally gave in when winter approached. As it was logical and expected on your part, the first you offered him was a warm bath, but what he couldn’t possibly expect was how it developed.
The warm water was not the only blessing gently caressing his skin because you offered yourself to bathe him. He could have refused, but didn’t have the strength to do so, eager as he was to feel the intimacy. The softness of your touch made him cry of happiness when it landed, breaking the physical isolation he was submitted to for so long. You didn’t question his sobbing, only tried to calm him with equally sweet reassuring words to keep washing away his pain.
“ Tell me if anything makes you feel uncomfortable.” You warned just in case. “ If you want me to leave, at any time, don’t hesitate to ask me for it. All I want is to make you feel good.”
His mind was numbed by the pleasurable sensations. The nice smells, the feeling of your hands roaming him to spread the soap over his skin. You were sitting right behind him at one extreme of the tub, open and exposed legs spreaded to the sides of it with your feet sinking on the water. Andy had to be careful with his movements because pulling his head back a certain way would make it be between your legs, but you didn’t seem to mind at all. In fact, you made him do it when washing his neck and a grunt escaped from him not only because of your direct contact.
He could tell that he was so close to the precious center of your spreaded lap, it was heaven.
“ Do you like it?” You teased him sweetly. “ Is that why you are so quiet?”
“ You have the touch of an angel.” He finally managed to reply. “ I can’t believe I’m here with you.”
He made you giggle and he felt himself dying for a chance to kiss you.
“ I told you that you were going to be better with me.” You insisted, spreading shampoo over your hands to start washing his long hair. “ I know how much you must have suffered, but it ends here. I promise you, love.”
He took a deep breath, wishing he could believe that, but giving himself completely to your comforting attentions. You began to run your fingers through the strands of his hair, then he closed his eyes when your nails scraped lightly at his scalp. So delicate, so wonderful.
How could he be deserving of such treatment?
“ Your hair is beautiful, I swear. I can’t wait to see it all clean and dried. “ You praised him, on top of everything. “ I bet you will look so handsome…”
“ … Like the sole survivor of a shipwreck.” He couldn’t help mocking himself, feeling unworthy of your compliments. ” I have never been the best looking guy, but you have found me at my worst.”
You laughed, but he detected some skepticism in your voice.
“ What if I tell you that I have always sensed beauty? Right from the first look into those pretty hazel eyes of yours.”
It took him by surprise, he had no idea of how that could have possibly been going on in your mind back when he reacted like a wary animal of the woods.
“ Well, in that case… You are radiant like the purest heavenly vision.”
“ Is all of that because I told you I was raised a catholic?”
You started to rinse his hair, thankful because he couldn’t see your face in that position.
“ No, because you gave me back the will to live.”
There was no possible way to verbally answer such a heartfelt statement, so you bent down a little bit in order to reach him better, gently pulling his hair so he would follow you into the right position to press your lips against his.
Andy’s bliss was such that he felt like he could have died, which wasn’t necessarily a contradiction because it came from that very same peace he found in you helping him to carry on.

More than you could know.
Retail fucking sucks. Amaranth has gotten good at coping with it though, between social media addiction and little appeals to her self esteem. But god, wouldn't it be nice if she could shut her brain off for a while? If only she had some kind of tentacled eldritch horror to help her out with that. (Thanks to @hutiapendra for the header!) ----------------------------------------------------
Every day, Amaranth got sick of her job in new and familiar ways. Dissociating her way through the “thank you”s, the “can I return this open package”s, the “Bring Me a Manager”s. It felt like all day, every day, she came in and cut her brain into pieces. One for the lady with the alleged service dog biting people. One for the man who had a good chuckle at her name tag. Five-fucking- thousand slices for all the kids screaming because their parents wouldn’t buy them those tantalizing snacks in the checkout aisle.
She savored her hour-long lunch break with the thorns of a famished porcupine. Nobody could make her even think about work. Instead, she gave her miniscule remaining slice of self to the internet. One tweet for the masses of other deadbeat trans girls in her phone. On a good day, this would be something like: “i think we should all be furries but not in the mascot way like we should all just run into the woods and pee on sticks”. This garnered comments that boiled down to variations of “or each other.” Not her thing, but she appreciated the brazen perversion as an escape from her customer service smile. Amaranth had a very carefully curated feed of weirdos and freaks and this was a source of genuine pride for her. On a bad day, such as today: “retail fucking sucks.”
Flipping over to her own page, Amaranth saw that the header image was some stupid slap-dash edit of some orange tomato-looking fruits surrounded by dollar bills with her avatar’s face plastered over them. She had to find some way to restrict her access to social media when she was high off her ass. Then again it probably made good shitpost content.
She chuckled to herself and flipped back to her timeline. This was a vital part of her lunch-time rituals. She would scroll until she inevitably saw some new world event, reaction to online discourse, or plea for crowdsourced rent payments until she remembered that the world sucks, everyone sucks, and it would only ever get worse. From then until her manager harassed her to get back to work, she did little besides scrolling and skimming, barely reading or doing more than liking some art or article she thought she might come back to appreciate later. This was a justification she would inevitably fail to follow through on.
Vitally, this served to prime her for the remainder of her shift: it gave her something to not think about while she helped people. It was much easier to explain that no, not all phones took the same chargers, than it was to feel guilty for ignoring the desperation in that internet panhandler. She was barely getting by as she was. Maybe she should make one of those too. Or maybe that was a humiliating ordeal of vulnerability and she could sell foot pics instead. She wondered every day why she hadn’t gotten into that market yet.
Amaranth gave away a few more slices of herself on the way home. One to apologize for how long she took sliding her crumpled bills in for the bus fare. One for the group of drunk moms who splashed openly carried beer in water bottles as they toasted their daylight bar crawl. One for the man with the scraggly cheek-hairs asking for a light when she got off at her stop. Amaranth didn’t smoke, but she made a point of carrying a lighter because the culture of it appealed to her. That one actually felt nice. One slice given, one slice received. The sun was nearly down, and the air chillier than her oversized sweater was suited for, but Amaranth felt an unusual spring in her step. Maybe this was her purpose. She might fade away under the cruelty of the world, but she could offer reprieve to everyone else coming down with her. She made a mental note to send five bucks to that poster she saw if she made rent this month.
It wasn’t until Amaranth walked through the door of her studio apartment that she remembered she had a roommate. She always remembered right under that threshold. It was another ritual in her day that she was getting pretty good at taking in stride.
“Parsimony, my favorite delusion! I return triumphant, hating the universe one iota less than usual!” Amaranth threw herself on the couch and felt the new yet familiar slither of her unknowable partner’s arms coiling around her torso. Amaranth had long since stopped trying to comprehend what exactly she was cohabitating with. Knowledge of the entity’s presence only maintained itself within the confines of the apartment, and the shape of her body faded the moment you took your eyes off her. But that was fine. Amaranth knew all she had to, which was that Parsimony loved her, and she knew how to use her tentacles.
Parsimony grumbled. If she was such a delusion, then who washed the dishes Amaranth left in the sink all week?
Amaranth waved her hand dismissively. “It’s a term of endearment. Really, thank you. The rain lately, it’s made me wanna jump in a gutter. But hey, today it was just dry and cold, I had a nice chat with a strange man, and I have a wonderful new idea for a business opportunity.”
Parsimony reminded her that she had attempted to sell pictures of her feet online five times in the past month and every time she had stopped short of a deal because she was paranoid about her recipient somehow using the background information in the photo to dox her.
“Oh, shit yeah, good thinking.” Amaranth sat up and waltzed into the kitchen. “Well, with all these clean dishes, I oughtta make us something nice for dinner. In the mood for anything specific? Ramen? Freezer pizza?”
Parsimony slid a tendril under Amaranth’s shirt, groping at her chest and creating a faint haze at the corners of her vision. She intoned that she would like a portion of Amaranth’s conscious mind. It would fill itself back in, of course. Nothing to fear.
Amaranth stared straight ahead, catching her breath.
“That sounds good. Real good. Wait your turn though, I’m fucking starving.”
(Read the rest here! Tumblrs being rude to Parsimony)

I'll Always Come Back To You [Aaron Hotchner]
Pairings: Aaron Hotchner x fem!Reader
Characters: Aaron Hotchner, Jack Hotchner, Jennifer "JJ" Jareau, Penelope Garcia, Tara Lewis, Spencer Reid, David Rossi, Will Lamontagne
Summary: A target from an unsub forces Aaron away from you and Jack and you both fight through the day clinging onto a sliver of hope that he'll come back
Warnings: angst, general sadness, guns, swatting (it's set in The Storm)
A/N: Okay for some reason all the intense Hotch related episodes give me major feels and the need to write since they brush things off all the time so hopefully I was able to do even a fraction better (this is dedicated to Linds who is obsessed with this episode and literally screamed when I told her about this idea)
GIF by @dudeitiskarev photos from Pinterest, header created by me
You loved it when mornings started like any other, there was a certain thing about monotony that was calming. Aaron was running around the house, fixing his tie and you took charge of getting Jack ready for school.
“Got your agenda?” you asked.
“Yep,” he nodded. “But you didn’t sign it,”
“No worries, I carry a pen at all times just in case,” you grinned just as Aaron walked by. “Hey babe, can I have your pen?” you asked which made Jack chuckle.
“Mom, I thought you said you had your own,” he pointed out.
“Yeah, but I get your dad to carry it cause I’m always with him, right Aaron?” you asked.
“Right you are my sweet,” he nodded and pressed a quick kiss to your lips before you leaned down to sign Jack's agenda.
There was a knock at the door again and Aaron motioned that he would go grab it.
“Hey Hotch,” JJ smiled as she and Henry entered the home. “Thanks for doing rides again,”
“Oh it’s no problem,” he insisted.
Jack was quickly distracted now that Henry was around and they started to talk about their comic books and you went to greet JJ with a hug.
“Hey Jayje,” you smiled.
“Ready to come back to work?” she asked.
“Am I ever,” you nodded. “As much as I loved hanging out with my guy over there, I’m itching to get some action,”
“You could’ve just asked,” Aaron muttered as he walked past you and JJ’s eyes went wide as her jaw dropped open and you had a hard time holding back a slightly embarrassed smile.
Aaron was in front of the safe, going to take out his gun and holster it so you could head out of the house, Jack and Henry were at the table and JJ and you stood watching them from the entry to the dining room. The image was ingrained in your mind because that’s when it happened.
That’s when the door was slammed open and Aaron whipped out his gun like it was a reflex.
“Put the gun down!”
JJ was fast and grabbed Henry and Jack, holding them close as SWAT entered your home.
“I’m Agent Aaron Hotchner, this has to be a mistake, I’m on duty,” he informed them.
“Put your weapon down!” they were unwavering, their guns pointed straight at your husband and you stood there frozen in shock while your step-son called out for his father.
JJ sent Aaron a look and he slowly lowered his gun which whipped you out of your trance.
“What the hell do you think you’re doing?!” you stepped in between Aaron and the barrel of the large gun.
“Ma’am get out of the way-,”
“Get out of the-why the hell are you arresting my husband?! You heard him! He’s the Unit Chief of the Behavioural Analysis Unit!”
“(Y/N),” you could hear Aaron’s voice behind you.
“Mom!” Jack’s cry for you shattered your heart into pieces, but you stood your ground.
“You can’t arrest him,” you pressed.
“(Y/N), sweetheart,” Aaron tried to make his voice as calm as he could while his hands were in the air, signalling to the SWAT team that he was going to cooperate after he calmed you down. But you couldn’t be calmed down, they were pointing a gun at your husband in front of you and your son when he had done nothing wrong.
“Aaron no,” you shook your head.
“(Y/N), go stand with Jack please,” he told you gently.
You could feel the tears coming in hot as you nodded your head, but you couldn’t move until one of the officers pointed his gun at Aaron again, instructing him to go down on his knees while they cuffed his hands behind his back.
As soon as you regained your footing you ran over to JJ, taking Jack out of her arms and hiding his face in your stomach so he didn’t have to watch.
“Dad!” he sobbed and you could feel yourself shaking while Aaron told you both everything was going to me okay and it was all just a big mistake.
When they dragged him out of the house, quickly you let go of Jack and dropped to your knees so you could look him in the eyes.
“Jack, Jack baby, look at me, look at mom,” you said through your own tears.
“Where are they taking him?” he sobbed.
“I don’t know,” you whispered. “I’m so sorry, I don’t know. But Auntie Jennifer’s going to take us to mom and dad’s office and we’re going to stay there,”
“And you’re going to try and get him back?” Jack asked.
“Of course, my love,” you nodded and wiped away his tears. “We’re all going to be okay, I promise,”
Jack sniffed and nodded his head, wrapping his arms tightly around your neck.
He was getting a lot older and it became harder to carry him, but you used whatever strength you had in yourself to pick him up and make sure he didn’t have to worry about anything for now. But it just made you think of Aaron, Jack had gotten very sick at school a month ago and he walked into the house carrying Jack as he used to when he was a small boy. And Jack clung onto him like he was his only tether to the world.
Now things had changed, and that tether was you. You’d have to push past your own fears, your own concerns and do whatever Jack needed you to do, right now he needed you to be his mom.
You sat in the back of the car in the middle, between Jack and Henry while JJ drove to Quantico, calling Will to come there and bring Michael with him.
Once you got there Jack had stopped crying, but he became withdrawn. He didn’t respond to Spencer’s question and instead just asked if he could go into his dad’s office.
After a few of your team members greeted you, you excused yourself to go see Jack who had been followed by Henry, Michael, and Will.
“Jack baby?” you called into the office, leaning in the door.
He nodded his head and looked up at you, but didn’t say anything to you.
“Can I take you somewhere?” you asked. “I just wanna talk for a minute,”
He sighed heavily but put his backpack down and walked towards you. You wrapped your arm around his shoulder and took him to the stairs, walking up a few more flights until you hit the roof, coming into the fresh open air outside.
At least it was sunny outside and you could actually bring Jack up here.
“Why are we over here?” Jack asked. “Shouldn’t we be trying to find out what happened to dad, where they took him?”
“Your Uncle Dave and the rest of the team are on top of that,” you assured him, leading the boy to a specific spot before sitting down and motioning for him to do the same. “This is one of your dad’s favourite spots, I thought maybe you’d want to sit here for a little bit,”
“Mom, I don’t want to sit here, I want dad,” he said plainly and pulled his legs up to his chest and turned away from you.
“Jack, I know,” you sighed and pinched the bridge of your nose. “I know you want dad right now. I…I just need you to talk to me,”
“About what?”
“About this, sweetheart,” you whispered, running a hand through his sandy hair. “Tell me how you feel, what’s going on in your head,”
Jack stayed silent, looking ahead at the surrounding grounds of FBI property.
“Jack?”
You could hear the sniffles start again and you were quick to wrap your arms around him, pulling him into your chest where he clung onto your shirt.
“Mom, I’m scared,” he whimpered. “W-W-Why do they keep taking my parents away? I don’t want them to take you away,”
“Shh, shh,” you hushed as you rocked him back and forth. “They're not going to take me away,” you tried to assure him, but you knew it was no use. Jack would still worry.
“But that’s what dad used to say!” he was frustrated now. “He promised, mom,” his voice sounded so broken. Defeated. Jack had seen more than any eleven-year-old should have to see in their life, more than any adult even. “He broke his promise,”
“Jack, sweetheart, you don’t have to believe me,” you whispered. “But I’m going to say it anyway, okay? I’m gonna say it for me, I’m gonna say it for your dad, and I’m gonna say it for you too: He’s going to be alright and no one’s taking me or you anywhere,”
“He’s going to be alright, he’s going to be alright,” Jack repeated to himself like a mantra and you pressed repeated small kisses to his head, hoping it could offer him some sort of comfort.
You and Jack probably stayed outside for the better part of an hour and a half before heading back to Aaron’s office. Jack settled himself at the desk and Will let you know that he would be looking after the boys so you wouldn’t have to worry and could go debrief with the team.
“How’s he doing?” JJ asked.
“Not amazing, but we’ll manage,” you said truthfully and sighed before sitting down at the briefing room table.
“And how about you?” Tara asked. “That can’t be easy, seeing that,”
“It wasn’t,” you shook your head and tried to fight back the tears you could already feel welling up in your eyes. “I didn’t…I didn’t even tell him I loved him,” you whispered to yourself as more of a realization than anything.
“Oh honey, he knows,” Penelope assured you, rushing over to your side to rub your back soothingly as you slowly let yourself come apart in front of your friends.
“I-I can’t be like this, not in front of Jack,” you tried to wipe away your tears and brush yourself off, but they stopped you, telling you to take a moment and breathe.
“(Y/N), he’s your husband, you’re allowed to be worried and show emotion for him,” Tara assured you and you nodded your head because you knew that but you still felt like you needed to keep it together for Jack’s sake. Because it would be even harder to get him to believe Aaron was going to be okay if you didn’t believe it in the first place.
“(Y/N), I know it’s not my place, but maybe you should sit this one out,” Spencer suggested.
“I might not be the most useful right now, but I’d still like to stay. I…I want to know what’s happening,”
“Alright,” he nodded and came to offer a sympathetic pat on your shoulder.
You stayed with the team as they tried to determine who Aaron was swatted by and how everything linked together. JJ even went to question Antonia, remembering a key piece of information she had mentioned when Aaron had visited her in prison last.
Everything was becoming twisted and complicated and you desperately wished for it to end so you could see your husband again.
But when Jack entered the briefing room everything went silent and you felt like you could think again.
“Momma,” he said softly, coming up to you.
“Yeah, honey?”
“Can you go on a walk with me?” he asked.
“Sure,” you nodded and picked up your things, taking his hand and walking out of the office with him. “Why’d you want to go on a walk, buddy?” you asked.
He shrugged, but you could tell there was more to it.
“Jack-Attack, you know you can tell me anything, right?” you said gently, stopping in your tracks and kneeling down so you were at eye-level with him.
“I know,” he nodded. “I just-I wanted to walk with you because dad told me that sometimes when you get sad at work you go on a walk together and you feel better afterwards. And I feel pretty sad and I know you feel sad even though you’re trying to hide it for me so I thought maybe we could go on a walk and maybe feel a little better after,”
“Oh my sweet boy,” you cooed, your hands holding both sides of his face as you pressed a delicate kiss to his forehead. “Let’s go take that walk,”
As Jack, and consequently Aaron, had predicted, walking around made you feel a little bit better, you ran into Anderson who was quick to lighten the mood with some jokes and even Penelope who had run out on her lunch break so she could quickly grab some treats from a nearby store and offered to share some with you and Jack.
Later in the even one when it seemed like nothing was changing with Aaron’s situation you caught wind that they had found out there was going to be a prison break and the team began gearing up to leave and assist.
“Mom,” Jack looked at you worriedly. “Do you have to go?”
“I-,” you looked at the group as if to ask permission to stay which they immediately granted and you looked back at Jack, shaking your head. “I can stay,”
He ran over and pulled you into a tight hug which you accepted before walking off to Aaron’s office where Henry was already asleep on the couch. You assumed Will was trying to get Michael to sleep, maybe using Derek’s old office for some privacy.
Jack motioned for you to come and share his dad’s office chair with him and you did, watching him silently colour a picture.
Jack always had a talent for art, and for an eleven-year-old, his portraits looked incredibly realistic. As he continued to draw you noticed the similarities between his art and the photo of you and Aaron on your wedding day that sat on his desk. He was in the middle of adding some colour to the picture when the door quickly clicked open and you looked up, seeing Aaron standing right in front of you. You tapped Jack but he didn’t move.
“Hey,” Aaron said gently, but he received no response from Jack. “Hey,” he tried again and this time was met with a small,
“Hey,”
“What are you doing?” Aaron asked.
“Colouring,” Jack said simply.
Seriously? This was how they were going to have this conversation.
You whispered something into Jack’s ear prompting him to look up at his dad while he turned his drawing around and put it in his bag.
“Can I see it?” Aaron asked.
“No,” Jack responded.
“Jack,” you whispered. “Ease up, baby,”
He didn’t speak to you, only grabbing his bag and walking past his father and out of the office.
JJ had already snuck in and taken a sleepy Henry on her back so she could get him, Michael, and Will home, leaving only you and Aaron in the office.
“He’s just scared,” you told him. “And a little mad. He said you broke your promise,”
Aaron nodded his head.
“You have to talk to him, otherwise he’s just going to bottle it up and he’ll act out,”
“(Y/N)-,”
“Aaron you have to make sure he’s okay, please I just-,”
He walked up to where you were now standing behind his desk in large strides and held your arms, stopping you mid ramble.
“(Y/N), are you okay?”
“Am I oka-Aaron, how could you think I’m okay?!” you moved away from him. Before you felt worried and sad and now you just felt angry. You knew it wasn’t his fault, that he had no control over it, but that didn’t change the way you were feeling. “Every day we go into perilous and dangerous situations, but having people come into our home and point giant guns at you, threatening to hurt you in front of our son? Aaron, of course I’m not okay! I didn’t know if I was going to see you again, and I just stood there and watched it happen. I didn’t say I love you, I didn’t kiss you goodbye they just took you,” your voice sounded so defeated, but you continued, because there was more to say. “And the whole day I tried to keep it together for Jack when all I wanted to do was curl up in a ball and disapp-,”
Aaron cut you off, pulling you into his arms and squeezing tightly, you let yourself break, let go of all the pain and worry as you cried into his shirt.
“I’m so sorry,” he whispered into your hair. “I love you so much, okay? And I can’t imagine how hard today was for you guys, but I’m here now and everything’s going to be alright,”
You looked up at him and pressed a desperate kiss to his lips before whispering I love you to him, over and over to make up for the time you missed.
Past your tears you noticed a small shadow by the door and you pulled away from Aaron for a second, wiping away your tears and encouraging Jack to come in.
He took a few steps inside the office until he was next to you, holding your hand and looking up at his dad. Aaron came in front of you both and was quick to get on his knees and pull his son into a hug.
“I know I broke my promise,” he said softly. “And I’m sorry, I’m so sorry Jack,”
“Were you okay?” Jack asked. “I was so scared,”
“I was okay, it was just an accident like I said,” Aaron explained. “And I’m here now. I’m not gonna go anywhere. I’ll always come back to you,”
“Can we just go h-,” Jack stopped himself, as if he wasn’t entirely sure if he even wanted to go back to his home after what had happened.
“You know what, I have an idea,” Aaron said. “I was going to keep it a surprise for mine and (Y/N)’s anniversary, but I think it’s alright if I show you guys now,”
You and Jack were both thoroughly confused, but that didn’t matter much especially when Aaron had a safe place to take you.
First you did go back to the condo to grab some clothes for a few days and any important things you might need before climbing back into the car and driving out towards the suburbs.
When you pulled in front of a large blue house with a gorgeous front garden and a welcome mat at the front door you had a good idea what was going on.
Aaron turned around slightly so he could look at both you and Jack while he explained where you were.
“So this was supposed to be my big gift to you guys,” Aaron started. “I know these past few years have had their ups and downs and this was definitely not our best day, but we made it out. And I figured it might be nice to come to an actual home after any day. And it’s a great neighbourhood, Jack wouldn’t have to change schools and it’s big enough if we wanted to expand our family,” he explained, reaching his hand to hold yours.
“You mean we get to live here now?” Jack asked.
“As soon as we move in all our stuff,” Aaron nodded. “It came partially furnished so there’s one bed in the primary bedroom,” he added.
“Jack, do you wanna bunk with mom and dad tonight?”
Jack nodded his head and came forward in between the two seats and hugged you both tight.
You all got out of the car together and looked at your new home. A different place, somewhere you could feel secure after the events of that night.
Even though there was still a lot of work to do, this was the start of something you hoped would be good for your family, it was clear you all needed it.

Old Man Crenshaw
[ @bowelfly was disappointed when my “dagnabbit porn bots” post wasn’t an actual monster, so I figured I’d stat up the character I used for the header image. Boggy Creek 2: And the Legend Continues is not a good movie by any means. Like so many creature features, it spends a lot of its runtime walking around the woods, and it has a leering misogyny towards its female characters. The movie picks up in the last fifteen minutes when we meet Crenshaw here, a swamp rat who accidentally caught hisself a little Bigfoot. Jimmy Clem was something of a luck charm for director Charles B. Pierce, having appeared in almost all of his movies, and you can see why. He’s got a lot of charisma playing a gross weirdo, and he steals the show.
This version leans a bit more into the fantasy setting of Pathfinder, but assumes that something like the events of Boggy Creek 2 have already happened in the flavor text. Even if you don’t want swamp sasquatches in your game, these statistics should do a good job for a variety of backwoods gun-toting types.]
Old Man Crenshaw CR 2 CN Humanoid (dwarf) This large, fat man has a ragged beard, a balding head and a scowling expression. He wears simple clothes and a strange headband, and carries a gun.
Old Man Crenshaw is a backwoods hunter, trapper and distiller. He has naval training, but jumped ship and headed up river, living in a shack tucked away near the river bottoms. Crenshaw is tall for a dwarf, and many people mistake him for human; his “old man” sobriquet is due to the fact that he’s been around for several (human) generations. He occasionally works as a guide for explorers, but he makes a living sells moonshine, pelts or alchemical remedies. Crenshaw distrusts city folk, government officials, or anyone with pretensions.
Old Man Crenshaw’s life became much more exciting recently, when he accidentally caught a sasquatch child in one of his traps. Crenshaw took the youth home, fixed up his broken leg as well he could, and spent several weeks under siege by its father, who was attempting to rescue the boy. The young sasquatch would have died if not for the aid of a traveling scholar and his students, who treated the humanoid’s infected wounds and returned him to his family. Following this close call, Crenshaw has a newfound respect for the more monstrous denizens of his swamp, and works to protect them from intruders.
Old Man Crenshaw CR 2 XP 600 Dwarf gunslinger 2/rogue 1 (river rat) Init +2; Senses darkvision 60 ft., Perception +7 Defense AC 15, touch 13, flat-footed 12 (+2 Dex, +2 armor, +1 dodge) hp 29 (2d10+1d8+9) Fort +6, Ref +7, Will +2; +2 vs. poison, spells, spell-like abilities Defensive Abilities hardy, nimble +1 Offense Speed 20 ft.; slow and steady Melee masterwork battleaxe +4 (1d8+1/x3) Ranged masterwork blunderbuss +5 (1d8) Special Attacks deeds (deadeye, gunslinger’s dodge, quick clear), grit (2 points), sneak attack +1d6 Statistics Str 12, Dex 15, Con 16, Int 8, Wis 15, Cha 8 Base Atk +2; CMB +3; CMD 15 (19 vs. bull rush or trip) Feats Gunsmithing (B), Rapid Reload (blunderbuss), Skill Focus (Craft: alchemy) Skills Appraise -1 (+1 for treasure found below water), Craft (alchemy) +8, Disable Device +7, Knowledge (nature) +4, Perception +7, Profession (sailor) +8, Stealth +7, Survival +7 (+9 on water), Swim +7; Racial Modifiers +2 Appraise for aquatic treasure, +2 Profession (sailor), +2 Survival on water Languages Common, Dwarven SQ saltbeard, swamper Gear masterwork blunderbuss, masterwork leather armor, masterwork battleaxe, alchemist’s lab, powder horn, 10 doses black powder, 5 handfuls pellets, 5 bullets, 5 alchemical cartridges (pellets), 5 alchemical cartridges (bullets), 2 potions cure light wounds, 2 bear traps, healer’s kit, rowboat, 4 gallons moonshine, 2 antitoxin, 4 alchemist fire, 25 gp Special Abilities Saltbeard (Ex) Dwarves occasionally found iron cities along rugged seacoasts, and natives of such cities gain a +2 bonus on Profession (sailor) and Survival checks while at sea. They gain a +1 racial bonus on attack rolls and a +2 dodge bonus to AC against creatures with the aquatic or water subtype. Their greed racial trait applies only to treasure found in or under the water, but applies to all such treasure regardless of whether or not it contains metal or gemstones. This racial trait replaces defensive training, hatred, and stonecunning. Swamper (Ex) At 1st level, a river rat gains a bonus equal to half her rogue level on Swim checks (minimum +1). A river rat ignores difficult terrain caused by light undergrowth and shallow bogs, and it costs her only 2 squares of movement to enter a square of deep bog or heavy undergrowth, rather than 4 squares of movement. She takes no penalty on Acrobatics or Stealth checks for being in bogs and undergrowth. All of these abilities apply only when she is wearing light or no armor and carrying no more than a light load. This replaces trapfinding.

“You’re not very talkative tonight,” Annabeth observed as she and Y/N sat in the Strawberry Fields, watching the beautiful sunset and the gorgeous pinks and yellows and reds paint a masterpiece on the sky, making the puffy, white, clouds pop.
Y/N chuckled, leaning her head on her girlfriend’s shoulder. Annabeth tightened her grip around her. “I’m happy the battle is over, but it tired me out,” she murmured.
Annabeth hummed in understanding. “Well, you did very great. I’m so proud of you,” she said softly, making Y/N smile, and pressing a kiss to her forehead.
The two women sat for almost 30 more minutes in silence, save for the occasional comment or two, and watched the sunset. Y/N was beyond happy to be in Annabeth’s arms, finding her such a comforting and safe space. It just reminded Y/N of how in love she was.
Eventually they knew they had to get back to their cabins (which neither were happy to leave each other). They stood up and Annabeth walked Y/N back to her cabin, before they shared a kiss goodnight and Y/N disappeared into her cabin, with Annabeth walking to hers.
The next morning, when Y/N didn’t show up for breakfast, Annabeth assumed she had just overslept, for she did mention she was tired the previous night. After the blonde finished her food, she grabbed a plate and carried it over to Y/N’s cabin, but was alarmed to see that Y/N was nowhere in sight. Telling herself not to panic, Annabeth asked a few of Y/N’s half-siblings if they had seen her, and all of them said they hadn’t seen her since last night.
At that moment, Annabeth officially allowed herself to panic. She searched the entire camp twice, asked the dryads and Y/N’s friends if they’d seen her, everyone said no. She finally told Chiron that they had a missing camper and search parties were sent out, but no one could find any trace of Y/N. It was as if she had just popped out of camp, but to where? And what if she was in danger?
These were the thoughts keeping Annabeth up at night. She was terrified of what - or who - could have happened to her, and she conjured up images in her head of Y/N being In danger or hurt or scared or confused and Annabeth being unable to be there for her. It made the daughter of Athena feel so utterly helpless that she didn’t know where Y/N was and that they had no leads or theories that might actually lead them to her or what could have happened.
It didn’t help when not long after, a Demigod showed up with amnesia. Annabeth was too worried over Y/N to consider that maybe the two events were related, and with her non-stop interrogation of campers, going over and over the last time she had seen Y/N in case she could find any clues, and how much research and theorizing she was doing, her friends knew they needed to help her. Convincing Annabeth to actually get some sleep and not to miss out on every meal of the day to work on finding Y/N proved difficult, but eventually they were able to persuade her, with Percy promising her that he’d ask his dad if he knew anything from the other Gods or if they could help, and them pointing out to her that being sleep deprived wouldn’t help Y/N, and she wouldn’t want Annabeth to be neglectful of taking care of herself.
Every day Annabeth would hound Percy on if he got any answers, and he was quite patient, sympathizing with the pain he was going through. Eventually he got an answer. It was vague, but it gave them a hint: Hera had acted strangely when Poseidon had asked about Y/N’s disappearance.
Annabeth was happy that they had gotten a now semi-solid lead but also downright furious at Hera. She would have stormed to Mount Olympus and burst down their doors had not Percy and Grover stopped her. She did get Percy to convince his dad to help and to get Chiron to help. Annabeth ended up going to Mount Olympus and quickly got into an argument with Hera, and the Goddess let something key slip: “If you continue I’ll do much worse than take away her memory!”
The gods talked to Hera (more like pressured her into telling the truth) and eventually she admitted what she had done: kidnapped Y/N and Jason, took away their memories, and switched them in their camps. From that moment on, Annabeth and her friends worked on restoring Jason’s memory and finding out where Y/N was.
The moment she arrived at Camp Jupiter and saw her girlfriend, standing with Frank and Hazel, tears streamed down her face. She was so unbelievably relived and glad to see her girlfriend, and ran as fast as her legs could carry her, almost tackling Y/N to the ground with the force of her hug.
“Hi, Anna,” Y/N murmured, wrapping her arms around Annabeth tighly, leaning her head against the blonde’s shoulder.
A warmth spread through Annabeth when Y/N used that nickname before she pulled back and cupped Y/N’s cheeks in her hands, giving her a soft yet powerful and meaningful kiss. Y/N wrapped her arms around Annabeth, pulling her close, not caring how many Greek and Roman Demigods were watching.
