First Ship Ever: I honestly don't know? Like, I know Harry Potter was my first fandom, but everything I read was gen. I never had a strong opinion about Harry/Hermione and Hermione/Ron (disclaimer that JKR is a terf, but I can't change that I was obsessed with HP when I was 14). Maybe Alanna/George for The Lioness Quartet? I I know that my first slash ship was Peter Burke/Neal Caffrey in White Collar and Peter/Neal/El was my first OT3.

Last Song: Out of the Woods (Taylor's Version) (1989 is all I've been listening to for the past like week lol...surprised it wasn't Blank Space though)

Last Movie: ???? I don't even know the last time I watched a movie. I bought Everything Everywhere All at Once and Spider-Man: Far From Home literally months ago because I know I want to watch, but I still haven't.

Currently Reading: I just finished Spellbound by Allie Therin last night. It was a lot of fun! (@lunar-years, I'm psyched you're planning on reading Murderbot. I love those books!). I'm also reading 100 Hoaxes and Mistakes That Fooled Science to my nephew (because I read non-fiction to him now because I've given up on figuring out what fiction he likes. He won't give anything a chance 🙄....but non-fiction? He'll let me read anything. Still can't believe I read a book about the suffrage movement to him and he enjoyed it.)

Currently Watching: I haven't started anything since I finished Good Omens and Heartstopper. I was going to watch Our Flag Means Death, but now I'm not sure I want to.

I did also watch the first episode of Ms. Marvel, and I need to go back to that. I'm just mad they changed her powers. Also considering Gen V. It looks interesting.

Just wanted to tell you how much I love seeing your Book of Days illustrations! They’re adorable, and they seem like such a good way of memorializing time. All of your art makes me smile when I see it on my dash, but I like those especially.

Aw, thank you! Yes, they’ve been a great way to mark time and keep track of little things that happened each day. I’m terrible at keeping a normal diary, so even Before 2020 my days could kind of bleed together. With these illustrations, though, I can look back and remember a little about the day, and hopefully other memories will catch on them as well instead of being swept away. People have been so kind about this little project, thank you!

Admittedly it’s been over a decade since I was in guard (oh my god what the fuck), but 

I present to you option 4: The staves are weighted perfectly

Bc I don’t know about ya’ll, but weighting the different flags at the beginning of a season was always such a production, and you could move pretty damn fast if the flag was weighted correctly for what you were trying to do. Maybe not quite dragon age levels of fast (because OP is right, those planes are ridiculous), but I digress.

Galaxy brain take: the mages are all walking around with just a shit ton of washers on their staves. There’s Hot Discourse about the proper weighting for different magical disciplines. People are writing whole-ass academic takedowns destroying their opponents from different circles.

(You thought the fraternities were bad, but academic rivalries transcend circle politics. No where is safe. Hell is everywhere.)

There’s this upstart in Ostwick who argues that unweighted staves are most effective for casting spirit-discipline spells because washers disrupt the purity of the magic, and literally everyone else is just Okay Charles but the rest of us would like to be able to cast a spell this century, fuck!!! What the fuck are you gonna do in an emergency, ask the abominations to chill for five minutes while you channel some healing??? Nope! You’ll die motherfucker!!!

Then in the White Spire there’s a primal specialist who claims you need minimum seven washers to be even remotely efficient, but practically no one wants to be carrying around that many spares in their supply packs. I don’t want to jingle when I walk, Susan. -- Well maybe if you tied your washers down properly in the first place you wouldn’t need spares, Megara! 

Literally no one is as insufferable as Arcane Warriors and Battlemages. Every single one of them weights their shit uniquely, and they will not shut up about how their way is superior.

Anyway what I’m saying is god help the apprentice who shows up to staff spinning with the wrong number of washers on their practice staff. RIP.

so as someone who spins a 6 foot pole for sport, i’d like to point something out:

the mages from dragon age rly do be whipping their staves around SO FAST

like i tried to spin my flag pole as quickly as they do, but the planes they’re cutting through and the pathways mean that it’s near impossible to move that quickly

so three possibilities exist:

1. the staves are really light (i’m ruling this one out bc we can see the materials they’re made of and given some of them are solid metal, they probably weigh more than my flag)

2. the magic is what makes the staves travel so fast (this could be entirely possible, BUT if casting spells is anything like spinning a flag, it would be dangerous to let the magic have too much control, that shit will fly out of your hands, trust me)

3. the mages are just really strong (we’ve all seen male mage hawke...)

1. I dropped a lamp on my foot when I was 11. I was trying to get a duffel bag out of my parents closet to pack for vacation and the l lamp was on top of it. I really needed stitches but refused to get them. I had a butterfly bandage instead and couldn’t get in the hot tub or go ice skating the whole time we were in Gatlinburg (which, for anyone that doesn’t know, is a touristy town in the mountains of Tennessee that was recently devastated by forest fires). 

2. I have two dogs -- a chihuahua (Lucy) and a corgi/spaniel mix (Tucker). Lucy is technically my sister’s dog and Tucker is technically my brother’s. But ask both dogs, and I assure you, if they could talk, they would tell you they’re mine. They’re the neediest little beasts (and are currently both lying on my bed under my covers). I love them though. 

3. I’m currently working on a challenge for myself and my nephew of reading 1000 children’s books before he starts Kindergarten in the fall. We’re currently at 574/1000. I feel like I’ve successfully made him love books. 

4. When I was in the 8th grade, I watched Bonkers and part of The Lion King every night before I went to bed. 

5. I once hit a bullseye on a dartboard in a bar with my eyes closed -- there were two witnesses to this, my friend Emily and my Greek professor. 

I spent quite a bit of time trying to do it again, but, well, eyes open, eyes closed, I never even got close. 

6. I won a Halloween costume contest in the 2nd grade for “Most Creative Costume.” I was dressed as Cotton Candy. 

7. I once climbed on the roof of an ancient ruin in Egypt with my friend Emily after we had explicitly been told not to. 

The view was amazing. 

8. I never drink, really, mostly because I don’t like alcohol.... so, because I had one once before and liked the taste of it, I once ordered a Long Island Iced Tea for dinner; I was eating with classmates and professors -- not thinking that the previous time I went back to my dorm and like instantly fell asleep. I barely drank any of it, but I’m still embarrassed. 

9. While watching Lord of the Rings in theatres, I dropped my own ring under the seat and spent a fair amount of the movie looking for it. 

During the same viewing, of the third movie, a woman in front of me asked her date “What’s the deal with the ring?” 

10. I stayed up until 5 a.m. watching The Muppet Show because I couldn’t sleep before my final exam of the year/I was also supposed to leave on vacation the next day.  

But, anyway, I was deeply offended to learn, after receiving The Muppet Christmas Carol for Christmas this year, that the rest of my family hates the Muppets.  

11. I want to write a YA novel.
