sotbaw is short for the spawn of the black and white. it follows kai drew, in her adventures being adopted and raised by the lords in black.

KAI DREW IS NOT MY CHARACTER. kai belongs solely to @pastriibunz and her custody has not transferred to me outside of this series.

kais age and condition fluctuate. sometimes shes dead, sometimes not. you'll know.

each lord has "papa" tacked onto their name. papa wiggly, papa tinky, papa pokey, papa blinky, and papa nibbly. nibbly is also called mama nibbly on occasion. paul and emma are dad and mom respectively.

this is a song about struggling with your mental health and avoiding recovery, and this to me is very much a season 1 TK song, from when he's numb to the world and still finding his footing in his recovery and his new life in austin, before he's able to let carlos in.

this song just screamed carlos to me the first time I heard it. it really conveys that complicated closed off nature he has of always trying to be who everyone else wants and show that he's got it together, and how hesitant he's been to open up, even to TK.

a song about loving someone so deeply that it hurts to be apart, does this not just scream tarlos?? they're both shift workers, their shifts and time off isn't always going to align, and they're going to be sad to be apart at times but that isn't always a bad thing, just a sign of how deep their love is.

OUGH. BEAUTIFUL. MAKES ME WANT TO CRY. YOU CANNOT REPLACE BEN PLATT’S BEAUTIFUL VOCALS, WITH THE AMAZING INSTRUMENTAL AND THE CHOIR SINGING IN THE BACKGROUND. SO BEAUTIFUL, SO CATHARTIC, MAKES ME WANT TO BAWL MY EYES OUT EVERY TIME."

Poll Runner: This musical RUINS my mental state every time I listen to it, and this is the song that really digs into Evan's character and what the story is actually about. Feeling invisible, unable to help yourself climb out if the dark mental hole you've dug. Just the lyrics alone... never mind there's those gorgeous harmonies in the chorus repeat that feels like life is spiralling around you... it's fine.

[Album + Video] Katy J Pearson kündigt neues Album "Someday, Now" an!

“May the wind be always at your back” singt Katy J Pearson in den ersten Sekunden ihres dritten Soloalbums "Someday, Now", das am 20. September über Heavenly erscheinen wird. Es ist der Startschuss für ein Album, auf dem die Künstlerin aus Bristol sich die Welt ganz nach ihren Vorstellungen formt.

Nach "Return" (2020) und "Sound of the Morning" (2022) ist "Someday, Now" die Fortsetzung von Pearsons akustisch geprägter Singer-Songwriter-Kost, die sie mit Hilfe des Elektronik-Produzenten Nathan Jenkins alias Bullion (u.a. Carly Rae Jepsen, Ben Howard, Nilüfer Yanya, Avalon Emerson) gestaltet hat. Nach einer Zeit des Burnouts, des selbst erzwungenen Exils vom Musikmachen und des Alleinreisens kehrte Pearson mit klarem Verstand und einer Vision zurück. “I knew exactly who I wanted to work with, I knew exactly who my session band were going to be, I knew where I wanted to record. It felt like I was finally calling the shots for myself, and that was so empowering.”

Eine breite und interessante Palette von Inspirationen hat dabei die Platte beeinflusst: Beck, Neneh Cherry, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Kate Bush, Tears For Fears, Arthur Russell. "Someday, Now" zeigt das natürliche Talent der Songwriterin für Ohrwürmer und präsentiert zehn Pop-Tracks, die mit Bullions leichter, aber anspruchsvoller Note verfeinert werden. Während frühere Platten von Katy J Pearson langsamer und stückweise entstanden, wurde "Someday, Now" in den Rockfield Studios in Wales innerhalb weniger Wochen mit einer Band aus den Heavenly-Labelkollegen Huw Evans (H. Hawkline, Aldous Harding), Davey Newington (Boy Azooga] sowie Joel Burton (Broadside Hacks) geformt.

Die Songs sind voll von ästhetischer und emotionaler Ehrlichkeit, so auch der Album-Opener "Those Goodbyes" - ein Pop-Hit mit Glitch-Elementen, großem Refrain und funkelnden Synthesizern, auf dem Pearson auch mit ihrer Stimmlage experimentiert. “It’s funny, I used to feel like I had to go high for people to hear the vulnerability, but actually, singing in your natural range and being relaxed in it - I think there’s something a lot more vulnerable about that.”
