And here we have the most recent one for the ineffable wives shoes through the ages. This one is set in the 1980s. Gotta be honest, this one and the Victorian ones might be my favorite.
And also happy birthday to me.

I just realised I never shared this drawing I made for my Patrons back in October.
The absolute legend, the icon, the mastermind that is @mielpetite listened to me ✨ranting✨ about being stuck on an autumn-themed idea and casually dropped, "What if you just draw Aziraphale’s and Crowley’s shoes from above with a cute lil’ autumn leaf next to them?" And my brain went full 🤯.
So yeah, if you like this drawing, just know all the credit goes to the insanely brilliant Miel. I’m just over here, doodling their genius suggestion.

🚘😎🌼🖤🌼😎🚘
Today in features that never made it into the Good Omens book/series: 60s female presenting Crowley, the Citroen 2CV and the mention of "psychedelic black" as revealed by @neil-gaiman in tumblr asks and the Script Book for season 1.
This largely self made cosplay "premiered" at the Proud Nerd Con in Goch and is based on a mix of 1960s fashion research and incredible fanarts of our favourite grumpy demon. The car belongs to hannah._.horror 🚘

season 3 battle scene where aziraphale does a winx club type transformation in the air with sparkles and rainbows and twirling (the works) and it all takes like half a minute, maybe more. except at the end of it absolutely nothing about his appearance has changed

this is hilarious but i’m gonna talk here
this season, michael sheen did some of the most impressive acting that i’ve ever seen. i laughed the most and cried the hardest during scenes with him and he was so perfectly captivating the entire time.
aziraphale is a character who i think a lot of actors would treat unseriously, adopting the flamboyant gay comic relief archetype. a lot of writers also would’ve exploited this angle too but neil would literally never boil aziraphale down to that lol. but michael shows so much love for this character and in turn i think it makes the queer community feel loved and seen. i know it makes me feel loved and seen.
aziraphale’s arc is clear as fucking day an allegory for queer deconstruction from an oppressive religious environment. and michael sheen brought that to life so brilliantly and expertly and with such reverence and compassion that it makes my heart ache just to think about it. it’s what made the ending so devastating–the polarizing sides within aziraphale had never both come to the surface at once with such fervency before. it was agonizing and raw and gritty and he played it perfectly.
it’s so clear that he truly gets not just aziraphale as a character but what he represents, too. and the fact that he is able to play him so well is truly mind boggling. truly, one of the most beautiful performances i have ever seen. give this man an emmy right the fuck now

I absolutely love @dana_malish drawing of Crowley and Aziraphale shoes and was inspired to do something similar. But I wanted to do something different, and I’m a sucker for fancy shoes. So fem shoes for the ineffable husbands it is!
And then my pen slipped and I ended up doing a little series of various women’s shoes through the years. This is the Victorian era shoes.

some of you see an ounce of angst in queer fiction or plot that isn’t 100% fluffy and neatly resolved and cry homophobia instead of embracing works that allow for messiness and nuance and actual complicated feelings. i love miscommunication, i love cliffhangers, i love when characters tremble and shake and doubt and question, i love slow-burns, i love when it takes time to get to a certain point, the bittersweet and the yearning and a whole broad array of emotions and context and backstory that influence decisions, good or bad. it makes the journey so fucking delicious to see play out. it’s so interesting and also imo so important that queer stories get to exist with all the same tropes and tribulations as the rest, to occupy the grey areas and the spaces that aren’t black and white or clear-cut. you don’t have to be a fan of these things in the media you enjoy but don’t label them badly written or problematic or homophobic because it’s not sunshine and rainbows or because it didn’t live up to extremely specific expectations. some of us enjoy queer people being messy and fucked up and whatever the hell else.

Sometimes I'm sitting there, and then I remember that they literally kissed. There is canon plot of them pressing their corporeal lips together in an act of desperation, and it legitimately exists.
And it TAKES me a fucking moment.

After Good Omens season 3 comes and ends i want Michael Sheen and David Tennant to play characters in a completely new series together- i dont care what the series is about or what characters they play they just have to be madly in love.

Good Omens season 2 referencing Powell & Pressburger films
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Crowley's angel hair is modeled after Kim Hunter's hair as June in A Matter of Life and Death (1946).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Maggie's shop is called The Small Back Room in reference to 1949's The Small Back Room.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The red ballet shoes on the door of Give Me Coffee or Give Me Death are a nod to The Red Shoes (1948). (Note : the klaxons sounding in Heaven at the end of episode 1 are said to be a nod to the alarm bells in The Other World in A Matter of Life and Death. Personally, I don't think they sound at all alike; they are only similar in both being alarms. Plus, it's an audio reference, which I don't have the skill or patience to include here. But it's there!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In The Small Back Room, Maggie has a poster for the film Stairway to Heaven displayed. A Matter of Life and Death was released under this title in the US.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The tartan hills welcoming Aziraphale to Scotland are a reference to the tartan hills welcoming Joan to Scotland in I Know Where I'm Going! (1945). And of course, the third episode is itself titled "I Know Where I'm Going."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jim drops the book My Best Games of Chess, 1924-1937, by Alexander Alekhine, onto a table in the bookshop repeatedly as he is discovering how gravity works. This book is featured prominently in A Matter of Life and Death.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When Aziraphale enters The Resurrectionist pub in Edinburgh, I Know Where I'm Going! is playing on both televisions (I'm pretty sure I found the right scene to match this screenshot). You can also make out the name 'Pressburger' on one of the posters in this screenshot, but we'll get to that later. . .
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The family name on the mausoleum where Aziraphale and Crowley hide out with Elspeth and Wee Morag is Archers. It's never clearly seen in the show, but it can be seen in this BTS photo of the model used for Crowley's embiggening. The Archers was the name of Powell and Pressburger's production company. The interior of the tomb and the urns outside the full-size set also reference the Archers, and Powell & Pressburger individually.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In Mr. Arnold's record shop, one of the posters on the wall is for a UK music tour; either the band or the tour is titled Met By Moonlight. This is referencing Ill Met By Moonlight (1957), the final film Powell & Pressburger made together. (I personally think this one is a reach, as the title of the film is a line from A Midsummer Night's Dream and thus not really clockable to the outside viewer as a direct Archers reference, but apparently the intent was there so we're counting it!)
Tumblr media
The Pressburger posters are more clearly visible during the Gabriel and Beelzebub rendezvous scene in The Resurrectionists pub. We can see they advertise 'Pressburger Scottish Lager,' which is of course a nod to Emeric Pressburger himself. (Unclear if Michael Powell has his own label that we just don't get a clear view of. . .)
-- -- -- -- --
I clocked a couple of these myself, but they are all referenced in the X-Ray trivia on the Prime Video player. Would love to know if anyone has clocked anymore that aren't divulged. . .
