I think we’re nearing the end of a Golden Era. After the finale of Good Omens is released, we’re going to be on a different footing. It will wrapped, it will be complete. We will have a whole story.
Thus far we’ve been able to hope, fear, speculate and dream—those opportunities will change dramatically after the finale is released.
I’m feeling all kinds of ways about that—it’s been a heck of a ride. “Roller coaster” doesn’t do it justice. Despite the cracks and schisms that have appeared, the fandom remains a fairly friendly and wholesome place. I’m not a huge capital-F Fan; I’m not always obsessed with a story or a show (though I’m usually obsessed with something, be it crochet or raku). I’m not generally up on production schedules and don’t usually read about actors.
However, I’ve been in a few fandoms over the centuries, and I’ve seen them get much more toxic than this one is even now. I’m so grateful. Y’all are a fabulous crowd of angels and demons.
My deal is that I was pretty sure I was going to be disappointed with S3 from the beginning. The characters took root in my mind and, well, they’re mine now, the same way they’re yours, and, little by little, my head-canons have become real to me. This is normal for me—I figured I’d have to watch the whole thing a few times and see if my internal convictions would conform to whatever solution was offered to me. I don’t think I’ve ever gone from this point of the evolution of a story to the end without disappointment. That part hasn’t changed.
Because characters like Aziraphale and Crowley turn real, rather like the Velveteen Rabbit. They enter the company of mythological beings, along with King Arthur and Sherlock Holmes and Finn McCool, and there they will stay, an amalgam of thousands upon thousands of images of them in thousands upon thousands of minds. I love this for them.
But the finale will bring a sea-change, and we’ll be in a new era where all that goes forward is the mythology—and that will be a new jumping-off-point, but also the last foreseeable jumping off point we will have as a group. (A group of the thousands of us.)
I just want to say that I’m very glad to have been here in the Bentley for the ride through hellfire and tartan hills, and I’ll be here for at least a while longer, enjoying the view of the new countryside.
Heigh-ho, said Anthony Crowley.

Aziraphale’s cottage
Sorry for not replying to all of you, real life has been a bit of a whirlwind recently. I will try my best to catch up and get back to the S3 crumbs as soon as possible, but there’s another precious, peaceful, fragile piece of information I have found and want to share in the meantime.
Tumblr media
You might remember this photograph of Aziraphale’s desk as one of S1 BTS shots shared with us back in 2019. As it always happens with bonus material for this particular series, it almost instantly prompted multiple comments and ideas, mostly pertaining to the splash of contrasting blue in the top left corner. A coloured photograph — or maybe a postcard? — depicting a timber-framed, thatch-roofed house in the Tudor style, a touristy yet typical enough view in some parts of the British countryside.
Tumblr media
A certain South Downs cottage became a fandom-wide institution ever since its first mention in 2005, and, most recently, a symbol of optimism and hope for a happy ending in a rather unhappy world.
Twenty-year-long history doesn’t seem to be enough to pinpoint any details though: what we know is that according to Terry Pratchett and other sources, Aziraphale and Crowley will live there together after the events of the unpublished Good Omens sequel, which became Good Omens 3: Finale (or however Prime and BBC agreed for the official name to be spelled out). We also know that Rob Wilkins shared a hope for filming there in spring on location. What we don’t know is where it actually is (yet).
But I do happen to know the exact location of the house from Aziraphale’s photograph.
Tumblr media
Spoiler alert: it’s not actually on the South Downs, but a bit up north, in the village of Wilmcote in Warwickshire, about three miles from Stratford-upon-Avon, and preserved as Mary Arden’s Farm — today known under her married name, Mary Shakespeare, as the mother of William Shakespeare (also represented on Aziraphale’s S2 desk in the form of a small engraving).
Why “preserved as”? In a very Good Omens way, the farmhouse turned out to be an object of an unfortunate mid-sixteenth century house swap. In 2000 it was confirmed to had belonged not to the Ardens family, as previously believed, but their friend and neighbour Adam Palmer, making it Palmer’s Farm. The old name, however, stuck — people can be rather weird about names.
The whole complex belongs to Shakespeare Birthplace Trust and is kept as a working farm offering an authentic Tudor experience with multiple live animals. Until recently open to general public, due to financial constraints it now operates only as an education centre.
Tumblr media
Is this how the real South Downs cottage is supposed to look like? Will the Good Omens crew actually film there some time soon?
Or does Aziraphale feel for some reason much more sentimental about William and his family than the Globe flashback might have originally suggested?
I guess that we will have to wait and see!

Talk To Me (Good Omens Drabble)
Tumblr media
Crowley x GN!Reader / requests are open
Summary: Crowley never fails to comfort you when you need it. Particularly when your mother is involved.
GOMENS: @coffee-and-red-lipstick @quickslvxrrr @clarina04 @motionlessindoubt @stevekempscocktails @go-bonkers-go-foolish @peytonpenguin37 (send an ask to be added to a tag list!)
___ ___ ___ ___ ___
You should know better by now than to attempt to talk to your mother about things. This happens every single time, you swear. You have a great day, you call her to tell her about it, and she turns things around so that she’s the centre of attention.
And yet, you do it every time. You fall for it. Every time.
You suppose maybe it’s just hope that she might one day turn it around and actually hear what you have to say. But hope is just that. Hope. Ah well, perhaps one day, hey?
But whenever this sort of thing happens, there’s one person you turn to for comfort who is always more than happy to take you under their wing. Crowley. That’s where you found yourself now, huddled in his arms and crying your little heart out.
“You know,” you say halfway through a sniffle. “You’re pretty sweet for a Demon.”
Crowley grunts, wrapping his arm around you a little tighter.
“Going to pretend you didn’t just say that, Pet,” he replied, pressing a soft kiss to your forehead anyway. “Besides, I dunno why you bother trying with her. She’s always doing her best to upset you.”
You hum, leaning into his rather bony shoulder and closing your eyes, wiping the snot and tears away with a tissue.
“I just wanted to tell her about my day. I didn’t want anything from her.”
Crowley hummed thoughtfully, rubbing his hand over your skin in soft comforting circles.
“Could always call me- you know, if you wanted. I’m happy to listen. Got ears, may as well use them for something.”
You lift your head, turning to face him head-on. There’s not a hint of a lie there on his face for you to see. He… he was genuine- he wanted to listen to you talk about your day. You grinned and surged forward to press a bit, whopping kiss on his cheek, to which he groaned and wiped your slobber off.
“Alright, maybe not then,” he protested, face screwed up in a grimace, though you could tell he was just as amused as you were.
“Nope,” you said, cupping his cheeks and squishing his face. “Too late. You already said.”
Crowley grunted again- a soft ‘ngk’ sound, but he always answered when you called.
Your mum did get better at it eventually, and you were grateful that she put the effort in, but you couldn’t deny how happy that voice on the other end made you when Crowley picked up.

Tortured metaphor time!
I feel like I was at a very nice place (possibly the Ritz) waiting for an exquisite meal. I knew it would be a lengthy wait, but my anticipation was high and I was with great friends so it was cool.
Suddenly the restaurant is engulfed in flames. The chef turns out to be an arsonist who has set the place afire.
Chaos ensues.
Then I have escaped, rattled and horrified for those who were injured. I’m so relieved the chef has been apprehended.
I’m also ravenously hungry and really disappointed that my delightful evening took such a hideous turn, but obviously that’s my problem and I feel pretty bad, under the circumstances, that I’m even thinking about it.
Then one of the restaurant’s owners shows up with a bag of fast-food burgers for all of us and hands me one.
I’m grateful. It isn’t what I was hoping for, but it’s better than nothing.
Unless it gives me food poisoning.

But stories are like dandelions. They bloom, and burst into silver clouds, and drift away. And then, when they’re all but forgotten, up they spring, right through inches of solid pavement.
