Palasaki week day 2: dead girl detectives

Crawls out of hole in the ground hi hello here I am fashionably late as always (don’t procrastinate challenge: impossible) honestly I was so lucky that I didn’t have school today, or yesterday, or I straight up wouldn’t have been able to make it, I’m pretty sure. Also this gave me hand cramps, learn from my mistakes and don’t draw on your phone, I won’t stop ofc, but you know do as I say not as I do or whatever.

Anyway I’m rambling i’ll just go over the designs and then we’ll move on to story

Niko: my only real ideas for Niko, was that bunny ear bow, cause those are cute as fuck. So I ended up researching Japanese 80s fashion, it wasn’t very helpful but I did end up seeing that off the shoulder cardigan, and was like yes, that is perfect. And of course, the mushrooms are a reference to her ep 3 outfit.

Crystal: again my designs aren’t very complicated. I found a shirt-skirt combo that I thought was perfect for Crystal, but then I was like what if pants? So I wrestled with that for a little while, but decided to go with pants, because first of all it’s practical, second, I don’t think Crystal would give a shit about dress etiquette.

Story (don’t judge to hard, it’s the middle of the night, and I wrote this in like 10 minutes): our story begins back in 1916, where Crystal makes a deal with a demon for her soul thinking he loves her, she gets possessed and dies in the process getting stuck in hell for the next 73 years. When she gets out she meets Niko, who’s currently dying from the sprites effects, so Crystal end up keeping her company in her final moments.

They start up an agency in New York (or Washington dc idk) solving cases with Crystal’s powers and Niko’s compassion (and excellent reading comprehension skills ofc)

Now in present day, they’re solving a case about some dangerous books being in the the wrong hands, which leads them directly to a boarding school, where one nerdy occult obsessed exchange student is about to be sacrificed (aka Edwin) he obviously wants to go back to England after this whole horrible experience, and they end up following him, after Crystal gets a vision about a little girl (Emma in this au) being in danger, back in the UK.

They solve the whole Emma business, and help her back home (Mrs. Knights home for wayward children) where they meet Charles, who’s taking refuge there to escape his dad (and since Edwin has the magical amnesia now he ends up moving in too)

1. Do you prefer writing with a black pen or a blue pen?

blue actually! but idk why

2. Would you prefer to live in the country or in the city?

the country ideally, bc cities are just too noisy, too grey, too many people. but on the other hand, ppl in the country are boring af... so. guess i could live anywhere where i had some peace and quiet and nature on the one hand, and some interesting ppl on the other - one can dream ig, lol

3. If you could learn a new skill, what would it be?

any skill would be nice X’D but i guess writing, always. and not being a procrastinator. just being able to focus and actually finish/achieve smth. would be great (if that’s even a “skill”)

4. do you drink your tea/coffee with sugar?

coffee sometimes (aka when it’s bad coffee lol); tea never (tho i’d put in honey sometimes)

gosh i have no idea. i remember liking most books by Marc De Bel and Patrick Lagrou (both Flemish writers) and then as a teenager ig it had to be Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban!

lol yeah like about 5 of them XD all for different aspects of my life i suppose. i have the worst memory in the world, so i need this to literally remember things

not working for anyone else another day in my life. except if i found something i really want to get behind and put some effort in. hopefully write for pleasure tho, which would hopefully come easier since i wouldn’t be stressed at all times. i’d like to live near the ocean and the jungle, surrounded by a only few but likeminded people ♥

love ♥ the ocean, tho i also scares me lol. would say a natural pool or a lake without too many weeds in it :’)

that they’re okay, that of course growth is important, but that they’re enough as they are, and only have to change if they want it, not for anyone else. i’d try to teach them empathy and respect for all beings and the earth we live on

got three already, but i’m contemplating George Harrison’s squiggly sun drawing from his Here Comes the Sun manuscript, maybe on my ankle? still considering Tolkien’s dragon drawing too. an ॐ somewhere definitely, maybe combined with some lotus thing, idk yet..

Procrastination

Hey everyone, how are finals, if that is still a thing for you. I'm in the last stretch rn with 4 different project and ofc I went on to doing absolutely everything but school work lol.... One of those was binge watching doll repainting videos and rememebering how much I still love dolls and doll collecting. So I looked at Monster High dolls again, and man these has gone a long way since I last saw them years ago. I decided to try my hand at repainting since I've been meaning to get into it but never got the chance or time. (I still don't have time I'm just procrastinating lmao.)

Anyway, I ordered this Draculaura First Day at School doll and repainted her.

I had no idea what I was doing tbh, just kinda winging it as I go along. I used mostly pastel pencils to draw, and matte gel for sealing to get a skin like texture (which was 100% an accident but it's ok we're going with it)

Acetone smells weird (not recommended)

Btw, if ur not using MSC like I am cause I'm not about to poison myself in my room lol,  seal your face with varnish before running hot water over to get her head back on cause matte gel/medium will melt. I managed to fix it but u don't want ur hard work to just wash away.

Anyway, this is what I ended up with. Not the best face up, but for the first time, I don't think I did too badly lol. Gotta wait till tmr till I can properly seal her cause I'm still waiting for my varnish to arrive. The combination of pastel and brush on sealant without spray was a bit tricky but if you're careful it shouldn't be a problem. I found myself enjoying the process a lot, kinda mindless once you reached layer 8 or 9 of sealant lol. This whole face took me about 4.5hrs to complete. I'll end up making her a new outfit most likely. Will do more in the future once I'm back from school, and maybe get better //sweats

Anyway, just some random updates since I don't post as much now since I'm about to graduate (screams) but there should be more art once June starts __(:3

Tell me about the asbestos room; I haven't heard of it as yet

oh boy oh boy oh boylet me tell you all about this One Goddamn Room, aka the part of my faculty that i’m 87.3% convinced is actually a spacecraft in disguise.(putting this under the cut bc it’s getting Hecka Long)

the first thing you need to know to make sense of this is that i love crazy conspiracy theories. ones that can’t possibly be true, but are so much fun to think about, and are made of about three subjective facts and a piece of string. the madder the better. and if they involve someone/something i know, then 100000 points to the house of whoever told me about it.

the second thing you need to know is that a very good friend and i share one of these conspiracy theories. it relates to one of our lecturers, who has been teaching at the university for 50 years as of this month, and has an encyclopaedic knowledge of all elements of music history dating back to the renaissance.naturally, taking the current plotline of s10 into consideration, we think that our lecturer is a time lord. (there are other reasons, but that’s a post all of its own.)

the third thing you need to know is that when i’m into something, i’m really, really into it. i research with meticulous detail. no stone left unturned, and all that. great for my essays, great for my fanfics, not so great for my general life. oh well.

keeping all of this in mind, was it any surprise that i was searching google images for pictures of my department one evening, looking for potential tardis-hiding or otherwise suspicious locations? of course not, i’m in peak procrastination mode literally all the time, and pointless investigation into minor things is my absolute jam.(note: it was on this intel-gathering mission that i found what might be my favourite photo of the head of department, where he’s just holding an armful of shoes for no apparent reason? good on him)

now, there’s a disappointing lack of pictures that have been taken of the faculty building of this department in this university. i wonder why. but what there *is*, is a rather sketchy google maps street view from the lil back lane/parking area that goes past the back of the building. so of course i examine that, blown up to the biggest size i can get, from the best possible choice of a Real Bad bunch of angles, for any clues.and i notice a little building just tacked onto the end of the main building.for a bit of context, the main faculty building is 3 storeys high at one end, and two storeys at the other. common room/lecture theatre/the Good practice rooms on the ground floor, staff offices on the first floor, practice rooms on the second, that end halfway along. it’s one big pale stone-and-concrete block. but on the far end of that building, there’s a dip. and ofc i have to examine it. it’s because, as previously mentioned, there’s a little single storey building, connected to the main building but not a part of it, on the far end (closest to the driveway/parking area).and the kicker is, i’ve never noticed this building before! i’ve been up and down the department, i’ve been past that building, but i’ve never actually noticed it - which is hella weird. now, i’m not the most observant of folks, as anyone who actually knows me can attest, but i mean… a building? how have i not noticed an entire building?naturally, what i do next is to take a million screenshots, draw all over them in ms paint like the architectural-cryptid-hunter i am, and send them to my pal, who reacts in the same way i do, i.e.:“THIS WARRANTS SERIOUS INVESTIGATION”

and so we go look at this mysterious lil building next time we’re at uni, which was a week or so later. she, too, has never noticed the mysterious building, despite going that way numerous times. it’s quickly christened the asbestos room, thanks to a tiny yellow sign on the door which says “warning, possible asbestos-containing materials”, or words to that effect. at this point we also notice the Large Hole in one of the walls, which seems hazardous if there’s asbestos in there??? so ofc i shine my phone torch in there, only to see Another Wall. oh well. and so we absolutely must try the door. it’s locked.so we’re hella confused about what this building is actually for??? it’s not a proper part of the main building???? but it’s built in the exact same style?? it’s connected but separate??? and it just has asbestos in it??? plus, it has a room number, but isn’t on the university map, just the hand-drawn map of the faculty near the stairs????so of course we start up with the mad conspiracies, because it’s suddenly seeming a heck of a lot more plausible that it’s a tardis with a working chameleon circuit.

next stop is to ask the single person in the whole department who knows what’s going on. she knows everything about the department (and she has to, because not a single other damn person knows jack, not even the head of school). but she’s not sure about the asbestos room. she “thinks” it’s probably storage, but she’s “not entirely sure”. she’s not even sure that there’s actually asbestos in there - apparently it could be just a general warning bc it was built around a certain period. this adds more fuel to the conspiracy fire, because normally, as previously discussed, she knows everything. there’s gotta be something off here.at this point, we start telling people about the asbestos room - inducting them into the conspiracy, if you’d like. thing is, before we’ve pointed it out to them, not a single person had noticed the asbestos room. i only noticed it on google street view because i was looking for weird shit. everyone else who knows about it, that we know of, has been told about it by us.

obviously there’s a perception filter of some kind at work here.we’re not sure if it’s a tardis, or something more along the lines of the vault, but in any case, as far as crazy conspiracies go, the asbestos room conspiracy is one of my faves.
