YOU GUYS DON’T KNOW HOW MUCH THIS SCENE HAS STUCK WITH ME EVER SINCE I FIRST SAW IT IN THE GAME

I OBSESS OVER THIS SO MUCH BECAUSE IT JUST SUMMARIZES SIFFRIN’S CHARACTER SO WELL WITH A NEAT LITTLE RIBBON

Mirabelle is worried that she’s dragging everyone with her, Siffrin (that fuckin people pleaser) reassures her Truthfully that he couldn’t be happier while on their way to an almost certain death. This shows that Siffrin really values their friends and wouldn’t want to be anywhere else and also how he didn’t really have anything going for him before this. I repeat they had nothing to live for. No goal to strive towards but surviving.

Mirabelle understandably has a mixed reaction towards this response.

But the most important part is Siffrin’s reaction to this. He cringes over it because it was a bad thing to say to someone in Mirabelle’s situation. That she was probably sad over what the king had done to her home and that it was weird to say that they were happy in a situation like that. And while yes she was probably reacting to that a bit, but mostly I just think she was worried, because for Siffrin to be the happiest he’s ever been in a time like this, she doesn’t want to imagine what it was like for him before. But Siffrin doesn’t realize that she was worried about them. He only thinks about her emotions.

Because Siffrin doesn’t believe that anyone can care about them.

Really fucked up that, when they’re young, Patrick and Art are SO tactile with each other, so comfortable sharing the same space. Art lets Patrick touch him and move him and physically overwhelm him and easily acquiesces to it, if not outright enjoys it.

Then in the present, they’ve been so far out of each other’s orbit for so long, held such animosity that when they have their moment alone in the sauna, Art physically recoils from Patrick’s close proximity! It’s so painful to watch because even as Patrick’s goading him, it’s so obvious he wants to be able to get back into Art’s space. But Art has erected all these walls around himself, he refuses to give Patrick an inch or even admit to missing how close they used to be!

AND THEN we see Art and Tashi later and he wants her to hold him, to be gentle with him, and just TOUCH him. Like, he does miss that kind of close physical contact! He either doesn’t know how to ask for it or is uncomfortable being that openly vulnerable. Worth noting that he pretty much always defers to Tashi in regard to initiating physical intimacy (with their first kiss, though he does state his desire, SHE has to be the one to make the first move). And it seems pretty obvious that Tashi herself isn’t comfortable providing that intimacy, whereas Patrick actively seeks to provide it (the hug/forehead kiss after their win together in the early years, dragging the stool closer to him).

Art has tried very hard to act like he doesn’t need physical affection and even though his discipline and devotion to Tashi has made him a stronger tennis player, it’s made him a hollow person, which, in turn, has kept him from becoming a GREAT tennis player.

All of this, of course, is why the ending hits so damn hard.

sometimes I see people calling Aziraphale selfish in an accusatory way, as if it's a flaw that needs to be smoothed out, as if it isn't a trait that is at once defiant and emancipating, as if his selfishness isn't mostly wielded in an empowering and kind way, as if it's categorically bad to want things for yourself, to enjoy them, to have and keep them, as if selfish isn't the most revolutionary thing an angel can be

Have been seeing some discussion again about tamlin being a good High Lord or not and I just have to remind everyone of one of the best little facts from acotar I never really seen mentioned.

Acotar, Chapter 25 Page 221

She [Alis] simply said, "Summer Solstice. The main celebration used to be at the Summer Court, but... Things are different. So now we have one here, too. You're going."

"so now we have one here too..." Because of amarantha and Tamlin being just a good person he allowed anyfae from any court to come to spring. And because no one could really go back to their courts for their respective solstice celebrations, Tamlin made sure Spring Celebrated all of them

I just think that's such a cool fucking thing. That Tamlin cared for the people coming to spring for safety, and he made changes to help everyone feel comfortable and at home. He cares about the people who live in Spring, he cares so damn much :(((

Maximus is so fun as a character to me for two reasons:

He's a slave to his most selfish desires at his core, and that selfishness allows him to do cold, evil, ruthless things over and over again. And that's not something that he becomes and it's not some crazy plot twist that gets revealed to us, as though his normal personality is a veil. His personality is genuine, it's just driven by the deeper motives that get more revealed throughout the show. And then you start to reinterpret all of his other actions in a different light and go oh.

This set of character traits gives him the funniest ability to repeatedly be like "I will kill people, I will commit violence, because I have strooong values/opinions related to this!" and then somebody gives him some friendly company or, like, a bathrobe. And he's like "ohh :) Nevermind, I would trust you with my life if it meant I could have more of this. Would you like my social security number."

what hurts about angel crowley is not even just that he used to be an angel. it's the fact that in that one scene, even though it's just him and aziraphale, you can tell that he's so different from the rest of them.

aziraphale is very obviously wary, cautious and maybe even a little standoffish, and he's so concerned about breaking heaven's rules. crowley on the other hand is so innocent and excited the whole time and he's not afraid of anything, and he doesn't see the harm in being inquisitive, rightfully so.

and also, aziraphale at that point in time, and i assume all the other angels as well, are in that small little box where they think everything that they make has to have a purpose to advance heaven's plan: when crowley makes the stars aziraphale is like "okay... but what's it for though?" but why does it have to be for anything? crowley made them because he genuinely loves them, because it brings him joy, because he sees the beauty in things.

it's exactly these things that set him apart from the other angels that caused him to fall. and they're such human traits too. the curiosity, the passion, the want to create things just because they can be created. anyway that's what hurts thanks for coming

Good Traits That Easily Turn Bad

I personally think that this is a pretty interesting one. The truth about character is that it fluctuates a lot; what may seem like a positive characteristic can easily turn into a negative one. So let's explore some!

- Faith: Having faith in people and things is a good thing, but that doesn't mean it'll always come true. This can lead to your character being stuck on something that just won't happen.

- Independence: Being able to accomplish things by yourself is a necessity in life, but too much independence can make it hard for your character to rely on others no matter how much they need it.

- Selflessness: The ability to put other people first is a scarce one, and it can end up quite burdening. Excessive selflessness can turn one into a people pleaser who takes on others' issues while refusing to tell anyone about theirs to "keep people from worrying".

- Realistic/Down to earth: Being realistic allows your character to see things for what they are, without any excess fluff. However, this mindset makes it easier for them to think negatively and assume the worst in everything.

- Trusting: In our day and age, trust issues are big and it gets harder and harder to find someone who will wholeheartedly trust in you. Still, the truth remains that too trusting people can be gullible and easily taken advantage of.

- Honesty: Honesty is the best policy, right..? Well, not always. It's all about using it in the right situation, or else it could hurt others.

- Overachiever: Overachievers are known to work and deliver excellent results, but it can also strain their mental health. Even in difficult times, they have a need to not just be good, but better. This can lead to overexertion.
