Seeing people talking more about the “trans women/men are expecting transitioning to make them look like anime girls/boys” phenomenon, and it’s so fucking grim, like, where are these people? I don’t think that’s a thing that’s actually happening??? Like yeah, it’s obviously an attempt to try to connect transness with autism as well as the whole “anime is uniquely perverted and perverting” thing that people are pretending isn’t fascist.

In my own experience, I remember seeing the claim being made specifically about transmascs back around maybe ~2004 or so, that maybe a few of them might really be transgender, but most of them were just fujoshi girls who wanted to be irl yaoi. (And also frequently rooted in disgust that the guys being talked about were gay). So very much rooted in plain what would come to be known as transmedicalism, and tended to come from other transmascs as a result, though not always

I saw the occasional terf (they were only starting to identify with that term, which they coined), trying to make the claim that transfems were perverts who wanted to identify as anime girls, but generally with the insistence that they also wanted to identify as much younger anime girls, so the pedojacketing was very much in effect, and there was of course no possibility that any trans women could just be women, without the insistence on an evil plot. This was something I didn’t see as frequently, though that is based entirely on my personal experiences, the corners of the internet I was on, and my recollection, though

Anyway, it’s weird as hell to see trans people who think they aren’t doing some extremely sketchy shit trying to imply that people transition to look like anime characters
