caine spends a fair amount of their relationship trying to get quinn to help with his mischief, but quinn gets so worried and sympathetic of whoever they're messing with. and that's why diana is forever caine's partner in crime

sam likes to ignore the fact that they're dating. not because he's homophobic or whatever, but because thinking about his best friend and his brother dating is WEIRD. unfortunately, it is very difficult to pretend they're not, because they're, y'know, that kind of couple. like I said, pda couple to the max. caine puts his hand in quinn's back pocket whenever he gets the chance and quinn kisses the top of caine's hair every time he walks by. sam respectfully averts his eyes and tries to act normal

in public, quinn sits on caine's lap, and vice versa in private (no explanation for this one)

caine pretends not to care about quinn, but he's also such a mother hen. like, "get away from that cliff, I don't want you to fall. not that I CARE about your WELLBEING, it would just be a HASSLE to deal with your DEAD BODY!" but quinn knows the truth

Orc never had a good childhood. His father was a terrible man. His mother and he were both victims of his abuse. Orc struggled while in school. He became the very thing his father was. He wasn't going to allow anyone to step all over him. He fought back. He was feared or respected. He didn't pay much mind to those who poked fun at his weight. It wasn't something that he could control. It wasn't worth the fight, either. He struggled while in school. He wouldn't let anyone know about his struggles. It would just add fuel to the fire. It would be different for those to hurt him over. He could pretend the words didn't hurt, but they did. You were smart. You didn't judge him. You treated him like a human. You helped him with his work. You helped him pass his classes, and you made him feel something. A friendship. A true friendship. Sure, he had one other friend, but he used him. Orc knew that. That's how a friendship works, or so he thought.

The FAYZ happened. Fallout Alley Youth Zone. His friend named it. Orc didn't change. He couldn't change. He still had a reputation to uphold. You both drifted apart. It didn't matter. Your lives were in danger, and there were more important things to worry about. He killed someone. He didn't mean to. It was an accident. He felt terrible for the crimes that he committed. He didn't want to be a monster. He was. He found God and prayed for forgiveness. He read the Bible and stopped drinking alcohol. He didn't want to go to hell. He wanted to be a good man. He was. You knew him well enough to say that. You were there for him, and you forgave him. Things were hard in the FAYZ. You still helped him out as much as you could.

You knew what it was like to be alone. You were judged for your appearance and intelligence. You were in higher-level classes. You knew his pain, and you didn't want him to feel the way that you did. You genuinely cared for him. You didn't want anything from him. You didn't expect anything from him. Yet, he protected you as much as he could in the FAYZ. He never forgot you, even if you didn't remember him. He couldn't forget the one who helped him out when he was at his lowest and when he needed help at risk of being held back.

The coyote attacked, and gravel replaced his wounds. He was too hideous to look out. No one could stand him, especially now, yet you didn't judge him. You still supported him and saw him as your friend. You weren't one to judge appearances, and he was, and still is, your friend.

The barrier came down, and you went back home to your family. His family never came to find him. They could care less about him. You invited him to your place to stay, and he gratefully took it. You and your family took him in and treated him with kindness and respect. It didn't matter that he wasn't related. He was cared for. He didn't know how he could ever pay you back. He didn't need to. You did it out of the kindness of your heart. Charles had a home and a place to go to. A friend who truly cared.

"Jason." Piper said, startling him with her awfully serious expression, she looked beautiful, with her choppy hair and iridescent gaze directed at him. But that moment only lasted for a second, before the world collapsed at his feet. "Let's break up"

Piper may as well have just stabbed him at the heart with a blade. The effect would've been exactly the same. Being a Roman, he tried keeping his face as neutral as possible. What if it was a prank or something? But deep down, Jason knew it was wishful thinking. Piper had been acting very repulsive around him, stiffening at his bear hugs, pulling away from his kisses rather quickly with an uncomfortable wry sort of smile. He had mostly been initiating their usual displays of affection. Now that he thought back on it, those were huge alarm bells. He waited for Piper to continue, who was trying to gauge his reaction. He stubbornly appeared as aloof as possible, even though his heart had already shattered.

"I-I'm sorry.. i just.. don't think we both belong together. Our relationship started out fake. And it's obvious we aren't as in love as we thought we were. we simply feel obligated to stay together to appease Hera and Aphrodite" Piper managed to choke out, tears already streaming in her face. A surge of anger filled through Jason as his mind reeled, focusing on the sentences which had fragmented his already shattered heart. "dont belong together" "fake" "aren't in love"

"Stop saying "we" piper." Jason said in a slightly strangled voice. "I AM in love with you and i dont feel obligated to anything. Yeah, our relationship started out "fake" as you put it" Jason spat out the word "fake" with intentional bitterness. He was usually so calm, but no. Even the ever so calm son of Jupiter has his limits. "But don't you remember our fresh start? Our first kiss under the stars after Gaea's defeat? We've been together for a year, with no bumps in our relationship. Did that mean nothing to you at all? You still think we're playing pretend for Hera? Were all those hugs and "i love you's" simply us putting on a show that i wasn't aware of?" Jason's eyes stung as he said this.

Piper looked at him sadly, her tears had dried out and her eyes turned steely cold. he thought she was a little too nonchalant about this. She was his world. His whole universe. And yet, she too, had decided, that the ever so golden Grace, was not good enough anymore. Just like every other fucking person.

"I am sorry. But i don't feel that way about you anymore... It was just Hera's mist playing tricks on me..." Piper said a little callously. That was all she said, before she shouldered her bag, and looked at him one last time, her eyes slightly misty. Jason couldn't and wouldn't understand why this had all gone terribly wrong.

"Well. i guess that's just it then...." Jason whispered brokenly, staring at Piper's figure slowly walking away from him. He dropped to his knees and just sobbed. He felt used, and so fucking crushed. Jason Grace was once again, the unwanted, disposable machine. The unwanted machine that Camp Jupiter had been so eager to have gotten rid of. And now, So had the one whom he loved more than anyone else, the one whom he envisioned having his grandchildren with. He could almost hear Cupid's cold, hollow laughter echo through the corridors, watching his half sister leave the son of Jupiter in shambles, elated at his misery.

The supposedly rebellious daughter of Aphrodite had broken a heart after all.

Honestly I’d love to see the Ben 10 fandom go more in-depth as to what the galactic audience’s thoughts regarding interspecies relationships and what dynamics formed between different species are like. Is dating To'kustars or Galvans when you’re not a To’kustar or Galvan frowned upon due to the severe height difference involved? Are there debates on whether it’s ethical to date a Vulpimancer or not? Is a Galvan dating a Galvanic Mechamorphs seen as a power imbalance? What would a romantic relationship between a Petrosapien and a Tetramand be like, or a queerplatonic one between an Ectonurite and a Lepidopterran be like, or even a platonic/familial one between a Kineceleran and a Pyronite?

Heheh, I really like thinking about the interplanetary community and it’s dynamics throughout the cosmos in the Ben 10 series, because I dunno it’s like rife with potential for worldbuilding and I guess political drama? Because apparently I like fictional political drama? I guess when it’s fictional it doesn’t affect anyone so it can be played around with in interesting ways.

Got some talking points down below hehe-

I have like SO MANY headcanons about how the interplanetary community treats vulpimancers, though to be fair I have like an unrefined list of notes about the chronology of Vulpin politics and ideologies that I haven’t neatened up yet, and one of those headcanons is the difficulties they face trying to prove themselves just as sapient as the other species; amongst all the bullshit that does bring, interspecies relationships are also affected by that bias. And the fact that you bring up the implied dynamic between creator (the galvan) and creation (galvanic mechamorphs) is interesting too because also, you can kinda also have debates about ‘is it ethical to date the first generation of a species’ especially in comparison to galvans who seem to have quite long lives, ‘is it ethical for a long living species to date a species by all means younger in their entirety than they are’ type questions-

It also isn’t just like the general interplanetary community though it’s also just the differing planetary communities (with their differing nations etc etc until we get to the individual) that also butt heads with each other- an ectonurite’s family really REALLY pushing for them to ‘get together’ with their queerplatonic lepidopterran partner before they have to host a funeral one day vs the lepidopterran having to explain to their hive that they’re happy with their ectonurite partner especially without the pressure of it being romantic there’s so many others that can and do *coughs into hand* ‘contribute’ to the hive population! Or or! The kineceleran not giving two shits about their pyronite sibling from another… pibling? Ah whatever- being so frickin’ slow because they can both bond over sports vs the pyronite wanting to share one of their thrill seeking traditions from back home with a race in their stunt car against their kineceleran cuz’ own personal wheels!

Lowkey I kinda made at least a concept for a tetramand/petrosapien couple which I based on a pseudo sumo wrestling match I saw at school once where one of the participants was slammed into the ground but they quickly switched their positions to roll the person on top so fast the crowd thought THEY were the one to win and not the person they flipped who won first- I mean! In my sphere of headcanons about petrosapiens and Petropia is that they barely got much chance to interact with the universe at large (being cracked open by the fulmini before Plumber intervention set them off plus doing something similar but… a little MORE to what they did on Revonnah) and so modern interplanetary discussions about any petrosapien relationship is ‘i thought they were extinct?’ and especially with tetramands intense courtship it may even skip straight to ‘oh they might as well be extinct’. Not exactly pleasant to hear, compounded by the rare potential someone happens to know - to put it in gross terms - a ‘suitable mate’ with the opposite sex of the petrosapien they’re pestering. At that point you’d better hope it wasn’t the tetramand/petrosapien pair because if the petrosapien doesn’t stab you over the offence, the tetramand would put you in your place, as legally able to as they’d can just to piss them off :P

Do you think if a galvan and a to’kustar were dating it’d be considered a ‘long distance relationship’ :P?

regarding posting extra fic content that is not fic, but being worried about notifications... i have no idea how user subscriptions for pseuds work on AO3, but would it be a viable option to post those extra things under a pseud and then you can make it a related work to the fic in question?

it doesn't work! :( anyone who's subscribed to my main 'snickerdoodlles' username will get notifications for everything i post on AO3 that isn't anonymous because the pseuds still tie back to it. which is actually really convenient for me in every other case, but ajkfdjh.

right now i'm mostly considering building up a queue of tumblr posts that i'd want to copy over to AO3, then making a specific story post that's in my anon collection as i move stuff over. i can link all the story stuff together in the fics themselves, then take them out of the anon collection after i've finished uploading everything so that it's just one email notification at the end. my only hesitation rn is that moving a bunch of stuff over sounds very boring and i'm procrastinating it lol, but that's the only method i can think of atm that won't drive me completely nuts? i also don't really want anyone getting AO3 notifications from me to become associated with "not fic" either oof, i will cry if that happens 😂

I have seen your art, ocs and plea. And I come bearing questions! Like uhm- what's up with Necrodeus, looks sick

Well before I get to Necrodeus, I would like to preface this by saying that I did not play a Kirby Mass Attack or frankly most of the early Kirby games so the lore I've made for Necrodeus is very loosely attached to what is canon(?) and is mostly me making up things.

I will admit, Necrodeus is the one that I have the least thought out, lore-wise. There is just not a lot to work with from what I've seen.

For my Necrodeus, he bears the title of King of All Things Past (basically a fancy title for King of the Dead) and is the second god of the creation trio with Morpho Knight and Void Termina.

While Void creates the living matter, it is Necrodeus who has to destroy it. When a living being has passed, Necrodeus comes to collect their physical bodies, crumbling them until they are nothing but stardust and returns them to space, and thus the cycle of life and death repeats.

He was once just a ghostly purple shadow with three eyes but found the corpse of one of Void's early creations and said "this shit looks cool" And decided to wear it instead of destroying it, leading to the skull and hands he has in the present day.

He is insanely stubborn and has a temper. A little bit of an evil streak but that's pretty mild (for the most part anyway). He has petty beef with Void. On "friendly" terms with Morpho, though it's more of a love-to-hate relationship. Though Necrodeus and Morpho have grown closer after Void was reincarnated the last time.

While Necrodeus doesn't judge souls like Morpho does, he has a realm that he governs where he watches over the souls that Morpho has judged. With the creation of his skull minions to do most of his work, he spends most of his time in this realm away from the living worlds and rarely surfaces at all.
