I Ship Gomamon X Palmon

Words cannot describe how much I ADORE this most recent piece of official art - and yet, I'll try regardless!

First of all, let's appreciate how consistently they are using all characters' associated colours; I've always appreciated how official art varied between signature (= Crest) colours, but still made sure to include colours the characters actually would canonically wear. (Jyou might be the biggest exception here, because while I'd say that dark blue is his associated colour, purple and all kinds of muted colours like beige are pretty typical for him.) It's just perfectly conducted: On one hand, all these outfits are layered, thus providing a sense of potential variety - just in case they would be used for an actual series (because a girl can dream); on the other hand, they are very fashionable pretty age appropriate for them!

While I would say that Mimi's prim and proper fashionista piece is my favourite among all of them, I am especially fascinated by Sora's outfit: not only did they give her a college jacket, which is a design choice I came up for her around two years ago and that I'm still very proud of; it's just the perfect mix of tomboyishly cute and it makes me cry: Soft colours, hairclips and thigh-highs contrast her shorts, sneakers and college jacket. Absolutely perfect.

Taichi's effortlessly chill jock ensemble gets a special mention due to the fact that his pants also look eerily similar to the design I gave him back then... Yamato looks incredibly comfy and cuddly and I adore it. Jyou's nerd aesthetic will never not be adorable. And can we appreciate Koushirou actually wearing a colour coordinated ensemble for once? Granted, we can assume that his mom picked the outfit, boyish, cuddly and dorky. Takeru's fashionista career is also starting early and Hikari always looks like she's on her way to another birthday party - adorable.

The food choices are of course remarkable too and together with the layered clothes approach, we can assume that it's all Spring/Hanami themed. Of course Sora gets a flower theme again, Mimi and Hikari are incredible sweet tooths; Gomamon's fish shaped taiyaki is just too perfect; Yamato making practical rice balls feels very canonical for him, as well as Takeru ordering a Happy Meal hamburger; giving Kou and Tentomon dango instead of mochi is a missed opportunity, but still adorable; and I do like to imagine that Taichi and Agumon are eating chicken nuggets to honour the dinosaur nugget meme. XD

In sum: 10/10 designs, I am in love.

Looks like a cinnamon roll, is actually a cinnamon roll — Agumon, coz he's an adorable little dinosaur more likely to try the diplomatic approach than to jump immediately into fighting; Piyomon, coz she's an adorable pink bird who gives emotional support to her friends; Tachikawa Mimi, coz (especially after her growth as a person) she's a compassionate person; Kamiya "Kari" Hikari, coz she puts others first to the point of getting ill and/or injured solely coz she wants to not be a burden to them; Wallace "Willis" Williams, coz they cares 'bout the safety of random strangers & tries to solve difficult situations alone to avoid putting others in danger; Motomiya Daisuke, coz he refuses to harm his friends and he'll befriend you even if you've done something bad since he knows you genuinely regret what you did; Hida Iori, coz she's a semi-pacifist who despises killing & lying.

Looks like a cinnamon roll, could actually kill you — Kamiya "Tai" Taichi, coz he's an adorable goofball who (usually) doesn't hesitate to jump into danger to save his friends & has no problem killing anyone threatening them (especially if Kari is the friend whose life is under threat since she's his biological fullsister); Takenouchi Sora, coz when she was age 11-12 it was damned clear in canon that she could easily assassinate people if she wanted to & everyone are lucky that she's genuinely nice; Gomamon, coz he's an adorable goofball who nevertheless can (with his friends' help) kill a Champion Level Digimon as a Rookie; Patamon, coz he's 1 of the most adorable Rookie Level Digimon ever yet also a major powerhouse upon digivolving; Ichijouji Ken, coz he literally tried to murder a fellow human when he was the Digimon Kaiser/Digimon Emperor and even after becoming a good person he had no problem with sending a majorly evil Digimon (who was being basically a terrorist) into the Dark Ocean yet he's still a genuinely nice kid; Inoue Miyako, coz she's a nerdy & genuinely nice kid yet doesn't hesitate to smack an Ultimate Level Digimon with a skateboard and (despite initially hesitating) is willing to do whatever it takes to get rid of enemies who've proven they're willing to slaughter innocent people.

Looks like they could kill you, is a cinnamon roll — Gabumon, coz his teeth and horn make him seem the scariest of the 8 original Digimon partners yet he's also the gentlest of them all; Izumi "Izzy" Kōshirō, coz anyone aware of Izzy's badass computer skills would be scared of him (I certainly was as a kid & still am as an adult despite my immense respect for his skills in both childhood & adulthood), but Izzy actually is a good kid; Kido Joe, coz he's the oldest DigiDestined and literally throws himself on Digimon in attempts to protect his friends, so you'd think he's some badass combatant yet actually Joe is the team's medic & a very responsible person; Takaishi "Keru" Takeru, coz he doesn't hesitate to punch the face of anyone intentionally messing with Darkness & sometimes is abrasive when he talks to people (even when they're his loved ones), so (similarly to Joe) it's easy to assume he's a violent person 'til you get to see his soft side; Wormmon, coz he's an insect Digimon that looks far more scary than cute yet he's as gentle as Gabumon; Hawkmon, coz he looks like a typical bird of prey yet in personality is more of a polite & caring older brother instead of a carnivore; Armadimon/Armadillomon, coz he is an armadillo dinosaur who looks scary yet in personality is simply a goofball.

Looks like they could kill you, could actually kill you — Ishida "Mat" Yamato, coz this DigiDestined by far scares me the most (except Ken was scarier during his time as the Digimon Kaiser/Digimon Emperor) due to his explicit willingness to kill his enemies & ('til he grew as a person) attack his friends making his aloofness feel more threatening than make him seem unapproachable; Tentomon, coz he's a giant bug whose digivolved forms are even bigger & scarier bugs and he once destroyed an entire pocket dimension as AtlerKabuterimon/MegaKabuterimon; Palmon, coz she's a plant lizard with poison attacks; Tailmon/Gatomon, coz she's introduced punching the snot out of 6 fellow Champion Digimon much bigger than her & the 2 being each other's fated adventuring platonic partners is the only reason she didn't murder Kari; Lopmon & Terriermon, coz the twins' horns mitigate their adorable appearance into seeming less approachable plus Lopmon spends most of his screentime as Wendimon plus Terriermon gains gun arms whenever she digivolves into her Champion form; Veemon, coz. he's a junvenile wingless dragon who'll headbutt the snot out of you before digivolving into 1 of his bigger forms which have very sharp claws & teeth.

Milus: Yes, echolocation is very useful in dark water, it's like seeing, but without your eyes. I've never been able to use it myself, but it's an interesting and useful ability!

Milus: Oh, when I evolve I get oppose-able thumbs. Great for playing playing video games :3

Zarrus: I was buddies with some other aquatic 'mons back in the digital world. We'd beat up bullies and break stuff for fun! :D

Natticus: I hate to agree with Zarrus, but yea, I like the ocean more too; lakes can be nice but they can also be muddy and shallow. The underwater plants and weeds don't help when you're swimming either.

Natticus: Because I've lived most of my lifetime as a Gomamon, just to conserve energy for battles and all that, this form has grown to a, uhhh, less baby type shape I guess...? Milus! What are words?

Milus: You’re thinking of “proportional”, or, a form more similar to a fully-grown animal. As opposed to a “juvenile”, adolescent or neonate form. As for me, I suppose as a gomamon I’m sort of a mix of the human world seal and sea lion animals in terms of shape... admittedly more like a seal though ^^;

Sure heres a question for yah. What digimon matches a group of hetalia characters of your choice?

Though question, but a good one! I think I'll go with the Nordics for this since they're the Hetalia characters my brain has been stuck on the most lately.

Norway: Piximon. (Pichimon -> Bukamon -> Gomamon -> Mojyamon -> Piximon -> Jijimon.) Norway is a nation close to the sea and with many mountains, so it feels fitting Norway has a partner which combinates this with his knowledge of magic.

Denmark: I'm tempted to say Mermaimon for the mermaid references, but I think I'll have to go a more classic Viking route on him and say Zudomon/Vikemon instead. (Poyomon -> Bukamon -> Gomamon -> Ikkakumon -> Zudomon -> Vikemon).

Then again I could really see the same Digimon line for Sweden... Though choice, but they're more alike than they care to admit, so maybe they even have the same partner Digimon. x)

Sweden: Same as Denmark, to each other's annoyance. x) Another possibility I can see is Digmon, as a reference to the many old mines in Sweden, and for the possibility of going to Submarimon next. Fellow Swedes will likely understand the submarine meme reference. xD

Iceland: I was originally going to go for volcano or ice theme all way through, but to be honest I think Gotsumon might fit him as his main partner? Which could technically mean some ice and volcano too, if we go with that branch of the family tree. (Pagumon -> Gotsumon -> Icemon -> Meteormon -> AncientVolcanomon).

Visually it might not be the most exciting changes between the digi-lutions in the beginning, but it would show how much Iceland changes and his representation's nature.

Finland: Honestly the most difficult one to decide on. I wanted a Digimon which references him being called "the land of thousands lakes", and/or his santa duties, but in the end I couldn't find one I liked enough for him with those references. I'm considering Angoramon though, who def. seems like a kind of Digimon Finland would love, but I'm also kind of weak for Terriermon's line. I think either line would work really well with him. 💙

I think I’ve complained about this before but it has kinda bothered me before how the Digimon don’t have to rest or eat before entering into battle again, and like, while it’s been mostly fine up until now... Like ever since the kids entered the Fake Tokyo they have pretty much been fighting non-stop without resting or eating and like, it’s starting to get to me, their stamina to keep on fighting is a bit much and it’s just gonna keep on going until Devimon’s dead, isn’t it

Day 10 - Favorite Chosen Child-Digimon Bond

Daisuke & V-mon, yes why not. But do we need to talk about the obvious? I will, of course... But first I want to talk about my other favorites. This time, it’s not just the 02 kids, but also some of the Adv kids too.

Starting with...

The iconic duo! What I like in Taichi & Agumon is basically Adventure itself. Like I’ve said, I like the OG anime but what I care more is the cast. Taichi’s relationship with Agumon is so pure and strong, enough to cause Taichi a huge breakdown in 02 when Ken captured Agumon.

Next bond I’ve appreciate so much is...

Sora & Piyomon, because of Garudamon’s debut episode that I’ve watched as a child and had a strong impact on me. I really love how Sora cares a lot about Piyomon after their first adventure, and how Piyomon helped Sora to deal with Mrs. Takenouchi. Enough to make me hella angry at how things went on tri. movie 4.

Next,

Yamato & Gabumon, faves from childhood. I like how a tsuntsun boy with a shy reptile have one of the strongest bonds of the group. Gabumon is also nice but can be cocky sometimes (see tri. movie 1) and I love that one scene from tri. movie 6 were Gabumon literally implied he would fight the entire world for Yamato.

Joe & Gomamon, because WHY NOT? They are a very nice duo, and it’s incredible their evolution through the OG to 02. Also the JP meme of “JOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO” line is the funniest thing given by these two in my opinion.

Koushiro & Tentomon, which is a nice concept of a boy and his bug friend. AtlurKabuterimon’s debut episode is so super emotional that I’d have been mad at myself if I do not list them as favorite.

Mimi & Palmon, because they’re the best Pals! I love their friendship, their dynamics and how Mimi gave Palmon a mini dress when she was acting as a selfish princess hahaha wow

NEXT!!

Takeru & Patamon, mostly because of tri. movie 3. Their drama was what made me enjoy and consider movie 3 my favorite (ah, same about Koushiro parts too)

Hikari & Tailmon, because original fave duo! Mentions to how much Hikari cares and loves Tailmon to think the reboot wasn’t a bad thing and that it would’ve been better things to be like that because Tailmon was happy. And none of the abuse Tailmon had suffered were there to haunt her feline friend.

Iori & Armadimon, the cutest duo ever. I love their dynamics and how Armadimon is always there for Iori, no matter what. All the Iori episodes has some bit of their interaction, and it reinforces their bonds.

Miyako & Hawkmon, a very good duo. The lady and the knight, Hawkmon’s loyalty to Miyako is so beautiful and every scene about these two is so much precious.

Ken & Wormmon, the reason is their development in 02 is so much good you can’t convince me otherwise. And their bonds might have been strong since the Kaiser arc as well, but Ken Kaiser was a tsundere boy unable to admit he considered the Worm his precious friend.

AND THE LAST AND MORE IMPORTANT (for me lol):

THEM!! The duo I love so much because they match! They’re so powerful and hilarious together, they’re the cutest little sheet duo I’ve seen in my entire digilife. And the CD Dramas plus movies also reinforces the dynamic and friendship between them enough to make me want to write a big wall of text about them.

But I won’t, because this post had been lost TWICE lol
